Before she was a Lady of Change, Ignitrix was but a mortal. A simple Adept in the service of the Ordo Malleus until it was revealed she was a nascent psyker. Her subsequent escape from the Inquisition, the Black Ships, and Damnation itself garnered her a fair amount of infamy among those in the Screaming Vortex. In time, Ignitrix found herself surrounded by new allies seeking her aid. Allies that knew the value of one who had access to unbound, raw power of godhood itself. Though she never truly mastered her emotions (and thus her powers) during her Compacts with these Heretics, she came to find solace in the teachings and worship of the Architect of Fate, Tzeentch.

Eventually it came to pass that Ignitrix was among those directly under Daemon Prince Helldrool The Constructed. An ascended Heretek in the service of Nurgle, Helldrool assembled a massive army with the intent of launching a Black Crusade to spread his tech heresy across the Calixis Sector.

On the eve of the Crusade itself, all seemed relatively quiet. The gathered forces, daemonic and mortal alike, were preparing for the campaign-to-come in their own ways. Some offered prayers to their respective Patrons, while others reveled in song and decadence. For on the morrow they would all stream through the 13th Station of Passage towards the Calixis Sector, where the fires of hell itself would rain down upon the Imperium of Man.

That was when the Tyrant Star itself appeared. Several ships were nearly vaporized as the black sun of madness blinked into existence amid the halo of debris encircling the Passage. None present could have known what its arrival truly meant, least of all Ignitrix herself.

Welcome to the Lady of Change oneshot, part of Khornette Quest.

If you’re a die-hard lover of canon, I suggest you turn away now. I like to think I do Chaos and 40k in general justice though. The key thing at the end of the day is to have fun, whatever that means in this instance.

All rolls will go against a specified characteristic in the style of Black Crusade. You’ll want to roll under the characteristic value in order to pass the check. The more degrees of success (every multiple of 10 counts as 1), the more awesome of a result. A 1 is a guaranteed success, and a 100 is a guaranteed failure.

Best of three rolls when it’s called for, with a 1 or a 100 instantly taking precedence. If multiple characteristics are being rolled for, each 1d100 counts for its respective test. Any rolls prior to the call for one and those not linking said post will be ignored.

You are allowed a single additional 1d100 roll for any check during this session. You also have access to four (4) “Keikaku Dohri” points. The use of one will allow you to instantly succeed against whatever challenge or roll you’re facing.

You might have the impulse to use every KD point, but consider this:
For each leftover point, the “current” Ignitrix in the main quest will receive a bonus. If all four remain at the end of the one-shot, she’ll receive a special bonus in addition to the above bonuses.

If you have any questions/etc, now’s the time. Otherwise, I’ll push the first update in about 10 minutes.

Excessive meta goes to QTG. Blatant Samefaggotry will be ignored. Use the filter: http://pastebin.com/QxMu8Rrr

### An Hour Prior to the Tyrant Star’s Arrival ###

++Trix, are you up?++

The booming sound of Helldrool’s voice causes your quarter’s door to shake. If it was anyone else, you’d chase them off with a few choice words and possibly a fireball or two. But not Helldrool. He’s been the closest thing you had to a friend since leaving Imperial Space. Enigmatic and Charismatic, he probably could have been a great Factor of the Lathes had he not become a heretic.

Groggily, you rise and rub the sleep from your eyes. “Yeah… Yeah I’m up. Just give me a minute…”

With a grunt you hop off the bed and proceed over to the door to open it. There stands Helldrool: a massive assemblage of machine and grotesque flesh somehow naturally fused into one. The Heretek had always looked strange in the past, but the changes that came with his apotheosis still took some getting used to.

++You look a mess. Have you not been eating again? Troubles with your powers?++

He must think your disheveled appearance is the result of struggling to control your emotions, and thus your powers. It’s been a long while since you last lost control, but Helldrool has never truly stopped buzzing around you like a mother hen. It’d be sweet if it wasn’t damned annoying.

“No, you just woke me up thirty minutes before my alarm. You’re ex-biologis. You should know how bad it is to interrupt sleep cycles,” you respond, frowning.

++I needed to discuss some things prior to Lustlure’s arrival,++ he replies, somehow sounding innocent despite the fact his voice is both daemonic and mechanical.

“And you couldn’t just… I don’t know… use the vox?”

++Too important.++

You grumble under your breath. “Fine. Give me a minute to freshen up…”

>If you’re a die-hard lover of canon, I suggest you turn away now.

Before he can reply you shut the door and wander over to your sink. As you stare at yourself in the mirror, you realize with horror that you’re still clutching Skippy, your stuffed animal. Great. Totally the image of a composed Tzeentchean Psyker. Just what Helldrool needed to see.

Once Skippy’s been hidden away beneath your bed, you return to the sink to fuss with your hair. It’s turned blue since you’ve turned to the Changer of Way’s teachings, but otherwise is easily wrangled into two pigtails and a part over your left eye. All that’s left after that is to smooth out your chaotically-redesigned psykana robes and to grab your Force Sword by the door.

Stepping out into the corridor with Helldrool, you motion for him to lead on. “Now what’s so important that you dare anger a nascent psyker by interrupting her beauty sleep?”

He strides ahead of you, that massive frame somehow able to move at rapid pace. ++Whispers among the fleet. A sense of great unease.++

“It’s the ‘night’ before we burn the blasted Imperium to the ground. If they aren’t nervous they’re stupid.”

++That is not what I meant. It is as if there is a rubberband about to snap. Something, or someone is plotting against the Crusade from within.++

“Aren’t rubberbands forbidden STC’s?” you jest. It makes sense why he woke you now. Who better to track down and deal with a conspiracy than a woman in league with the Great Conspirator? “Do you have anything more than a vague feeling or…?”

He shrugs. ++As I said. Whispers in the Warp.++

“Wonderful.”

Trusting Helldrool to prevent you from walking out of an airlock (again), you cast your mind out over the space surrounding the fleet. It’s not always simple for you to pluck out the strands of fate and breaks in the Materium, especially when there’s high concentrations of daemons nearby. As such, you have to devote your full attention to untangling and deciphering what you’re seeing.

Around the 13th Station of Passage you note a severe “bulge” in the debris halo. It’s as if something is trying to force its way into realspace in a very big way. You can’t say for certain when whatever is will break through, only that it will. It’s definitely concerning, but what’s interesting is the line of fate that traces back to Lustlure’s ship.

Normally such lines indicate linked events, either in the immediate past or one of the possible futures-to-come. An actual daemon prince of Tzeentch or a Lord of Change might be able to see more, but this is as much as you’ve been able to figure out and comprehend on your own.

++Woah there. I am not turning this ship around to pick you up. Again.++ A metal hand stops you from running into the wall next to an airlock.

Returning to yourself, you sigh. “Thanks.”

++Well?++

“There’s something big coming, that much is sure. And it involves Lustlure in some way. Well it might involve him, I should say.”

++Hrm…You have been mostly right before. But I need to be certain…++ He seems to be debating with himself what to do next. And it was true that you didn’t always see the real future.

“Hold on, I can’t walk and do this at the same time,” you say before sitting cross-legged next to the airlock.

++Hrm?++

Ignoring his inquiry, you remove a set of runed bones from a pocket. Had you still been in the Imperium, you might have used the Emperor’s Tarot instead. “I’ll be back in twenty minutes. Move me if you must.”

++But…!++

And then your consciousness is among the fires of fate itself. The twisting flames are mysterious and alien, but the right mind knows how to read them. You happen to possess such a mind.

The first thing you see is the Daemon Prince Lustlure, in his gaudy pink power armor, arguing with Helldrool in the stateroom. That’s to be expected. What comes as a surprise is Lustlure producing two melta guns without warning. The vision shifts, showing you a portion of the fleet outside in flames. A dark star looms over all, casting an eerie light over the assembled wreckage. It was an augury of death and destruction. And not of the Imperium of Man.

As you start to withdraw your mind, a tendril of fire wraps around “you” and holds you in place for another shift. You see an incomprehensible maze amid a place that cannot possibly exist. A flash of blue feathers. More fire. Skippy. The maze again. Laughter. And then… Nothing.

++TRIX!++

You arrive back at yourself as Helldrool’s voice literally causes your chair to tip over backwards. It seems he’s moved you into the stateroom while you were away. Glancing at the clock, you see that you cut it close. Lustlure is scheduled to arrive in ten minutes.

“Helldrool, you trust me right?”

++Most of the time.++

A fair and probably honest answer. “I foresaw Lustlure and you arguing over something. I know not what, but it ended with him pulling two meltas on you. That’s not all though. Afterwards I saw the fleet burning under the gaze of a black star.”

A whistle that you’ve come to understand is him sighing emits from one of his speakers. ++We do not know for certain whether Lustlure’s betrayal causes the destruction of the fleet or if it is this dark sun construct. Are you sure there was nothing else?++

You pause. You can’t tell him about the maze or he’d never let you out of his sight. “Nothing at all.”

If he still had hair, Helldrool would be pulling it out right about now. ++We cannot just destroy Lustlure without provocation. It would invite chaos among Chaos and destroy the Crusade before it even begins. I had expected splinter groups to form, but not this soon…++

He turns to look directly at you with his four eyes and several optical mechadendrites. ++We proceed as planned with the meeting. I shall attempt to keep the talk neutral and to placate any demands he might have. In the meantime, I need you to look for a way to banish him into the Warp or slay him at the first sign of trouble.”

“I’ll try.”

Banishing a Daemon Prince? Without knowing his true name? Unlikely. And even if you could find it, doing so normally takes years of study and experimentation. Slaying one? Perhaps even more difficult than that depending on the circumstances.

This would not be easy.

“I’ll be right back!” you shout, dashing from the stateroom. You had to get “that” from your room. It was the only hope you had of dealing with Lustlure that didn’t involve fighting.

After knocking over several servitors on the way you finally reach your room. You throw the mattress aside (while apologizing to Skippy) and pluck up the item that was hidden beneath it.

Hidden among the dusty shelves you used to manage in your Inquisitorial days was a book. A book that had no right belonging there. A book that should have been contained and guarded within the Black Library itself. And yet there it had been. It contained exactly the sort of knowledge you had been looking for at the time, but would have invited your death had you ever told your superiors.

For this book, this damned book, contained the true names of every daemon ever to exist. All one had to do was speak one of the entity’s names aloud before opening the tome. Then, should they be able to withstand the raw power of the immaterium twisting and writing the page before them, the entity’s true name would be revealed.

Or so you thought, anyways. You had never been able to get it to work successfully on other daemons in the past. The pages either remained blank or yielded names that were useless. Yet every bit of research confirmed your suspicions. It was maddening, but it was your one hope in this instant.

Shouting Lustlure’s name aloud, you watch as a name is scribbled in hellfire across the page. If it wasn’t the right one, you’d be out of luck. You don’t have time to gather any crewmen up now. Either this would work or you and Helldrool would be dealing with Lustlure by yourselves.

The ascended Dark Apostle materializes right on time into his chair in the stateroom. Helldrool and yourself sit across from the former Chaos Space Marine, awaiting for Lustlure to speak first.

“Helldrool, you festering pile of waste,” the Apostle snarls.

++Lustlure, you depraved pile of flesh++ fires back Helldrool.

The two stare daggers at one another, then burst into laughter. Had you not been there when Helldrool strong-armed Lustlure into helping him, you might have mistaken the two as friends.

Lustlure stops laughing first rather abruptly. “To business. My Word Bearers wish to have first right of…”

He launches into a long-winded tirade about the need to properly defile everything the Imperium considers to be Holy. How this will demotivate the opposing forces and make them more easy to turn to chaos. It’s actually a rather sound bit of logic. The problem comes with the fact he wants his forces to have greater command power than they already have.

When he finally shuts up, Helldrool nods. ++I can see the wisdom in parts of what you’ve said. But I cannot allow your Marines to be in command as you wish. Gathering everyone together like this is already a web of politics. Changing the structure of leadership now will invite confusion and distrust.++

Lustlure slams a fist onto the table, denting it. “Then you should know that refusing my demand is just as dangerous.”

Helldrool stands. ++Is that a threat, Lustlure?++

“It’s a promise.”

Daggers again. It might be now or never.

Feeling that now is the time, you stand and throw out your right arm.

“Deeuffanir'eaokse! I name and bind thee! In the using your Name I command thee! Return to the depths of Hell from whence you come!”

Silence falls after you finish shouting. You start to feel extremely foolish as both daemon princes look at you like you’re an idiot. Then a tear in the materium opens up right next to Lustlure.

“HAHA! TIME FOR AN INQUISITION!” a voice shouts. Then a blur of red barrels out of the Warp and tackles Lustlure.

Helldrool looks over at you as his counterpart is literally being clawed to death. ++What did you do?++

“I…” Your voice shakes in fear from being in the same room as a Khornate daemon. “I thought I had found his name so I tried to…”

“STOP SQUIRMING! I NEED YOUR SKULL INTACT!”

++You used that book again didn’t you.++

“It was either that or…”

Both of you go silent as the crimson monster stands, Lustlure’s head in hand. It, she, turns to the tear in the fabric of reality and gives a thumbs up. “Great work Ignitrix! That was the perfect daemon to beat into a weapon!”

“Wha…” You shift just enough to look through the tear, only to see yourself. A twisted, daemonic version of yourself, but yourself indeed. It, she, YOU waves as the Khornate steps through the tear and seals it behind them.

Silence falls over the room. Just as Helldrool opens his mouth to speak, the entire ship rocks and a klaxxon of alarms begin sounding.

As Helldrool begins to shout in Binary Cant over the vox, you fall back into your chair. Your eye twitches and you begin to laugh. “Ha… hahaha… Just as planned!”

++...And send someone, preferably a psyker up here. I think Ignitrix has finally lost it.++

“Ha… No I’m fine. All according to plan… Haha…”

The ship rocks again, prompting Helldrool to curse. ++Go back to your quarters and prepare for ship-to-ship combat if you’re able. It seems Lustlure was secretly broadcasting this meeting.++

You stand shakily. “S-Sure… no problem…”

He stares at you worried for a single second then bolts from the stateroom. You’re left to wander back to your room on your own past servitors and cultists scurrying to and fro. Once there, you calmly lock the door behind you. You move the mattress back to its original spot in the bedframe and lie down clutching Skippy.

That’s when you realize his faux collar is now sporting a Mark of Tzeentch.

Bolting upright, you glance around at your room. Every surface has the mark inscribed upon it. But that’s not the worst part. The “Tome of True Names” is now sheer blue and sporting the mark across the cover. And it’s whispering.

Either you’ve gone insane or your powers are leaking through due to the stress. Or both. Probably both.

You set Skippy aside and reach out a wavering hand towards the tome. Before you can make contact, the book flings itself open to a page containing nothing but a moving image of the dark sun from your vision. In fact, it’s so life like in its motions that you could swear it was a portal to the heavens outside. Which means…

“Which means you’ve done exactly as you were meant to, yes.”

If you weren’t terrified out of your mind at this point, you might be proud of how high you just jumped. Skippy, your stuffed animal, just “talked.”

Peeking up over the lip of your bed at him, you ask, “W-Who are you?”

He shifts into a sitting pose, despite the fact that that’s impossible. “I’m your stuffed animal, Skippy.” The voice come from somewhere in the center of his mass without any visible sign of movement. That means it’s telepathic. Or you’re truly insane. Or both. Probably both.

“No you’re a daemon. Or an illusion. You have to be. This is all just…”

“Actually for once, I’m just a stuffed animal. But you can believe what you like.”

Just then, Helldrool chimes in over the vox. ++Ignitrix! That sun you mentioned just appeared out of nowhere! Why didn’t you tell me you saw the Tyrant Star itself?!++

Trying and failing to keep your voice steady, you answer the vox. “I… I did all of this Helldrool. I saw precisely what I needed to in order to cause it all to happen. And now my stuffed animal is talking to me.”

++WHA…++

The line goes dark as Skippy scratches his ear. “Boring conversation anyways. Now if you feel like getting ahold of yourself…”

“MY STUFFED DOG IS TALKING. AND I JUST SAW MYSELF BUT…”

“Shush.” And you do. “Take two seconds to realize that this is all part of Tzeentch’s plan for you and that I’m just a reflection of your subconscious brought on by the stress.”

“That’s just what a daemon would say!”

“A daemon would have just eaten you by now. You’re blazing so brightly in the Warp that Tzeentch himself is probably having to fend off the moths. Get a hold of yourself so we can deal with this problem.”

You close your eyes and force yourself to take several deep breaths. Maybe if you could calm down all of this would just go away on its own. In and out. Slow and steady. Peace and tranquility. Nothing to worry about. At all.

It only works somewhat, but at least now your heart’s not threatening to burst from your chest. Even better: some of the marks on the wall are fading away.

“Good. Now let’s go over the facts,” says Skippy. “One: You just saw yourself. That means you live through whatever happens next.”

“Does it though?”

He growls and you shut up. “Two: Said version of yourself was a daemon of sorts. That means Tzeentch has his eye on you if it wasn’t obvious already.”

“I suppose…”

“Three: It’s likely that the book wasn’t an actual book of true names at all. He probably just made you think it was so you’d use it at the correct time.”

“That would be how he operates…” Damn your subconscious for making sense.

“Four: The Tyrant Star is likely mere coincidence. That or it’s a cover up for a massive infusion of Warp Energy that’s about to happen.”

By now, you’ve recollected yourself. Mostly. “An infusion? For what…” And then it dawns on you. “B-But I’m not worthy of such…!”

“Of course you are. But knowing Him he probably has a final test for you to be sure. Otherwise it would have happened already.” He motions at the book with his paw. “Have you tried saying your name aloud?”

Taking up Skippy in your arms for comfort, you turn to face the book. The Tyrant Star “looks” back at you, same as it was a few minutes ago. Though, if your subconscious and your hunch was right, the image would vanish to reveal your true name. Or something positive would happen. So you hoped anyways.

You close your eyes and steel yourself for the worst. “Ignitrix,” you whisper.

Suddenly you can no longer hear the subtle rumbling of the deckplates that came with being on a starship. The air tastes bitter, cold. A light presses against your eyelids. In all, you gather that you’ve moved… somewhere.

Opening your eyes, you see before you an endless, crystalline maze. It seems to go on forever but also nowhere at all. Parts of it seem to loop back on itself and yet lead to different places. Maddening images of what was, what is, and what could be flicker throughout the crystal in the corner of your eyes. All of it combined makes you realize where you are: the Realm of the Great Schemer himself.

“Well this is different,” remarks Skippy as he hops out of your arms and begins sniffing around. “I expected more.”

You’ve been through enough crazy things today that you don’t even let the transition bother you. “Thanks me. Or do I call you Skippy?”

“Whichever.”

“Uh huh…”

“There’s something this way, come on…” He bounds off towards the left. Before he gets too far you sprint after him.

Soon the two of you are in front of a gateway of sorts. A disembodied mouth hovers above it, speaking the moment you get close.

“What is the meaning of your existence here?” it asks.

A myriad of possible answers run through your mind. Many seem to obvious. Others blatantly wrong. You do circle around the notion of “nothing” several times though. All the while you stand staring at the ground before the gate with Skippy. It’s hard to say how much time actually passes while you think. It could very likely be eons or no time at all. Such is how the Warp works. In the end, you look up only to find the mouth is smiling.

“Whatever you said, it liked it,” barks Skippy. “I didn’t quite catch it though.”

So without meaning to answer, you answered under your breath. Or perhaps not at all. It’s entirely possible the “actual” answer was not to answer. The more you reflect on it, the more you realize such is the nature of Riddles of Tzaratxoth and of the Guardian itself. It’s not about the answer itself, but how you answer. Looking down at Skippy, it dawns on you that you have a distinct advantage in this. Normally, one would be weighed down by intuition and their subconscious desires. Yet yours are running around wagging their tail.

Tentatively, you step through the gateway. The world seems to spin for a moment before you’re placed in front of another gateway with another mouth. Or perhaps the same mouth?

Eight more gateways, eight more delightfully insane riddles. Each one you answer correctly, or at least in a manner that doesn’t see the Guardian of the Maze swallow you whole. After the ninth and final arch, you find yourself before an ancient. Terran home, complete with a lawn and white picket fence. Seeing nowhere else to go except backwards or into the void of nothingness, you walk up to the door and ring the doorbell.

“Enter,” a voice calls. It has power behind imagining behind it, yet none of it directed towards you.

You turn to look at Skippy, only to find he’s chasing in tail in the yard. “You coming?”

“Nah, you go on ahead. You don’t need me anymore anyways. But you know where to find me if you want to chat again.”

You shrug and open the door. Inside is a room containing rows of books, several couches, a TV, a wooden desk, and a large, arched-back chair that’s currently facing away from you at the TV. It’s all lit by unseen light sources, but only enough to give the room a warm, cozy sort of feeling.

“Ignitrix, or should I say Ablanccthloeq'ffyccoaooppon'neuoeulio. I’ve been waiting for you. Come, sit.” A taloned hand appears from the side of the chair, motioning at the couches. “I’m sure you have questions. And for once in my existence, I shall tell the truth. After all, you bested my Guardian. The only one ever to do so now and forever.”

When you heard your true name, a shiver ran up your spine. “I…” you try to answer, only to find yourself suddening drinking Earl Gray tea from a cup.

“Think carefully. Your time here is short as I must return to my great game. Be succinct and to the point.”

As with the Guardian, you consider a multitude of possible questions. Finally you settle on something that’s not a question at all.

"Thank you, but the truth is mine to find, not to be told,” you say, setting the teacup down onto its saucer.

A singsong, almost-bird like chuckle meets your response. “Right again. Which is why I’ve decided to elevate you. Not to a Daemon Prince, for you are something better than mortals. I believe your consciousness capable of undergoing a grand transformation. To something new entirely.”

The TV changes from a senseless jumble of static to an image of you on the floor of your bedroom in realspace. Your eyes are blank and you’re still clutching Skippy. The book is nowhere to be found. With another wave of His hand, you watch as your form is enveloped in a literal bird’s egg, one of impossible size.

“Just know that while you have the most free reign of all my daemons, you still answer to me. Do not let me catch you undoing that which I have laid forth.”

“Are you saying I have permission to cheat?”

The chair spins, revealing the daemon-you from earlier. “I’m saying you have a lot of catching up to do.”

You stare at yourself for a moment. You’re fully aware that Tzeentch has taken this, YOUR form as a direct message. One you’re pretty sure the meaning of.

“As you wish,” you reply with a bow.

The chair spins back and the TV returns to its static. “Have fun with your little ships…”

Then the world goes dark. And yet at the same time you can feel the raw power of Tzeentch flowing through you. You can both see and tug at the strands of fate as you so wish, understanding every implication that comes with it. Every bit of knowledge ever to exist, both then, now, and in the future, sits at your finger tips. It’s just a matter of knowing what question to ask.

That’s when your eggshell cracks.

You don’t quite feel like revealing your change to Helldrool. Plus, there must be some form of psychic dampening around your room or your soul for him to have not noticed already. Another gift from the man upstairs, you guess.

Deciding to test and see if this truly is a shift in time, you hold in your mind the image of that which you used to be. One second you’re a Lady of Change, the next you’re disguised as you. White hair, the robes, everything. Even your energy is hidden from all but the most careful scrutinies.

You give yourself a quick glance in the mirror, mostly to make sure you’re not holding Skippy. Hell of a self-image you have there, Ignitrix. You went so far as to even get your hair in a mess. And wait, are those bigger? Well then.

You answer the door. Helldrool’s there just as he was earlier.

++You look a mess. Have you not been eating again? Troubles with your powers?++

That’s the same so you should say...

“No, you just woke me up thirty minutes before my alarm. You’re ex-biologis. You should know how bad it is to interrupt sleep cycles,” you respond, frowning as you did before.

++I needed to discuss some things prior to Lustlure’s arrival,++ he replies innocently.

Definitely the same.

You complete the dance. “And you couldn’t just… I don’t know… use the vox?”

++Too important.++

“Fine. Give me a minute to freshen up…”

You shut the door and have a mini cheer. He has no idea whatsoever.

This time when Helldrool mentions the need for you to check out the “grand conspiracy,” you only feign diving into the Warp. You know what happens next anyways.

Selling it the best way you can think to do, you drop to one knee and clutch your head. “It’s… Lustlure. He plans to… to betray you this very day. Two meltas, right in the back. All over the command structure.”

This advances the “timeline” from what it had been just a little.

++We cannot just destroy Lustlure without provocation or proof. It would invite chaos among Chaos and destroy the Crusade before it even begins. I had expected splinter groups to form, but not this soon…++

“Check the stateroom for bugs. I believe you’ll find all the proof you’ll need.”

Sure enough, you oversee him finding not one but six different transmitting devices. One for each of the main forces present in the campaign to come. All extremely well hidden to avoid the routine security checks.

++Those traitorous… They must have planted these during our initial meeting. I understand some mistrust, but this? There never was a coalition to begin with, was there?++

“Not at all,” you offer. “You were set up to fail from the very beginning it seems. It’s a good thing we discovered this now, rather than later.”

That’s all it takes to push him over the edge and right into the square he should be in.

++This is troubling. But what shall I do? It’s clear the fleet will turn on itself before the Crusade can even begin. We need to both erase them and disappear ourselves.++

You smile. “Just leave that to me.”

### ??? Years later ###

No one ever did figure out what happened to Helldrool’s fleet that day. Many rumors told of a Black Crusade that got lost in the Warp, but you knew the truth. You prodded Helldrool to lead the fleet to jump early. This caused the bulk of the fleet to be exactly where the Tyrant Star appeared. It even had to added bonus of dealing with Lustlure. From there all Helldrool had to do was vanish into the recesses of the Screaming Vortex until you called upon him once more.

That was long ago though. In the “time” since, you had played the grand game of chess on a level above most Lords of Change. It all brought you to this archway on Ysai Ydumee, where you’re currently watching a Khornate daemon tear through a Grey Knight. She’s doing quite well, but with that downswing…

To your amazement, she dodges it. Suddenly a clattering noise symbolizes a massive amount of pieces falling out of alignment. Whoever that Grey Knight was and whatever lives he touched had been significant. Enough so that all of your plans up to this point were for moot. And yet… you could see potential in the Khornate…

That’s when she casts out her mind towards the archway. You reply as is befitting.

“You’ve caught my interest, Cinder. You were slated to die here, today. To that very Grey Knight. Normally I’m supposed to prevent that sort of fate-defying thing from happening but… let’s just say I see great things in your future now. Would you like my help?”

Loved it ELH, we going to get an Ara Ara~ one shot far down the line as well? Or was Acerea's "Life" up until this point too uneventful to warrant it?

Also, how are you planning on handling character death? For Cinder and the girls I mean, do they/we just dick around in the warp until the survivor summons us back, if they want to, or if all of us die, until one of us breaches the material realm?

I mean, assuming Mr. Silent or another Blank isn't close enough to perma-death us.
>>
>>34641074

"Death" = Back to the Warp to get a talking to by your Patron. Timeskip in realspace depending on who's working towards your return.

Permadeath = Back to the Warp and no one's working to bring you back, you're within a Blank/etc's aura and get beheaded, or you somehow piss of your Patrons enough for them to smite you.
>>
Ignitrix, at what point did you realize that adventuring around with Cinder was going to be a journey of insanity and improbability that even you will find trouble dealing with?

>>
>>34641216

It's the Rosette that makes the Inquisitor, not the Hat, though the Hat is really, really fancy, so you are a SUPERIOR ACOLYTE to ANY and EVERY other Acolyte to ever exist! In any Timelines! Ever!

>>
>>34641279
But that still implies we exist in the warp, we just have to fight to bring ourself back.

And it doesn't mean we don't got no friends, it means they can't help, we could trip and fall next to Mr Silent and blam, we iz deded, what then? Our allies and friends don't magically go away.
>>
>>34641244

>>34641314

To clarify - NORMALLY when a daemon gets banished back to the warp, they're there for a LONG time as they have to basically reform in the Formless Wastes. There's ways of speeding it up (rituals, pacts with assholes, etc) that are as vague as canon is. Assuming, of course, they reform at all.

Basically it's assumed that while you have friends on the outside, you come back. UNLESS you die within a Blank's aura. Then you don't end up back in the Immaterium at all. You just die right then and there. I suggest not tripping and falling on a sword next to Commissar Silent
>>
>>34641326
>I suggest not tripping and falling on a sword next to Commissar Silent
We need to figure out his radius of terribleness, and surround him on a giant rubber ball that size, so we can't approach him close enough for that

>>34641326

How stupid are we for keeping Commissar Silent around?

I mean, on one hand, he's a danger to our very existence.

Also assholes, he allows us to perma-kill assholes.

>>
>>34642353
