And you sure this isn't another person's room, due to yours being the only one available on the entire floor is the one you and Charles shares. Sure Charles was a bit on the feminine side but not that much. You have to make sure that your eyes aren't deceiving you.

You look down from her face seeing that indeed she does have secondary sexual characteristics. The only way to make sure things didn't get bad was to make a decision and well, I chose you as my partner. I figure it was the best way since we are both boys at the time. And we already have a good team dynamic and that way none of the girls would be too upset.” you say rambling. Great you are rambling, guess you are really more embarrassed than you think you are.

The two of you stand there in soft silence as Charlotte finally relaxes and lets it all out after all this time. Eventually she stops crying and stands there in your arms.

The next day Charlotte stays as Charles, acting like nothing happened, poorly. It was obvious to everyone that Charles is a lot more energetic but no one can quite pin it down. “John what was that bit about spies?” Walken asks with iron in his voice but with a smile on his face, “That was rather specific.”

“Ah, you know movies. How in spy movies the hero converts female spy with freedom.” you quickly say trying to cover your nervousness.

“So who?” Walken asks still that iron in his voice.

“I cannot say to protect them. Trust me, I've done well so far.” you reply with a serious tone.

Walken thinks about it for a bit before he sighs. “Alright, I'll trust you on this. But do not forget this is going to be your responsibility. This isn't something I can easily cover for you.” Walken says with a bit of exasperation.

“Well if that is everything, I should go see Ms. Foss about the Maeve.” you say before you get up.

“Just take care John, things in spy movies are not like reality.” Walken says.

You take your leave of Walken's office and head over to where Ms Foss is working on some spare IS parts.

“Ah John about time you showed up. You'll be happy to know that Fragarch is done and there is an updated equipment list due to your new position. Oh and congratulations on becoming a Candidate Rep.” Ms Foss says not even looking away from the terminal.

Considering what we might be up against, the speed boost can be useful as far as weapons, I choose the laser rifle to deal with Laura's barrier and the 5 round burst because it's mainly mid-range/rapid fire than single shot.

“I'll go with this.” you say as you tick off the equipment off. “About the Gram, Reinforce and I thought up changing around the capacitors and firing mechanisms to have it be more flexible in combat. We did an overcharge shot before but I am pretty sure a 5 round burst would be better. Not only would it make fire more slugs but it also replaces the way I used the autoshotgun before.”

“Yes, I saw that when Reinforce accessed the schematics for the Gram from out network. Actually worried some of the staff since Reinforce has never done that before. We have been working with her whenever she wanted something. ” Ms Foss replies actually interested. “When Reinforce was first given to you, I did not expect her to actually want to go out and improve the equipment you both use. Just goes to show everyone that she will grow in ways no one expects. So make sure you take good care of her. Now activate the Maeve so we can get working.” Ms Foss continues.

You take up your position in the bay and activate the Maeve and hop out so that the staff can work. They quickly to take out the old weapons and and begin to take off the outer casing to get to the thrusters. Ms Foss instead took an intense focus on the Fragarch change. She quickly removed the right wing pylon after it was emptied of weapons and installed a new pylon with the mounting. Fragarch now has on several articulated mounts joint directly to the right pylon. No loss in normal movement for aiming but it means you must fire right handed as the mounts do not come off. The Fragarch itself has been changed to better fit the new position and the hand grips are now much easier to use since the center of gravity is much close to yours.

You look over and see part of the crew take apart the Gram and quickly switch out the reloading and firing mechanisms for new ones. Looks like Reinforce was already talking to them about ideas and they had already the parts ready. What really threw you off was how the Zoisite was already here with the capacitor already being installed.

So you ask her how they got is so quickly, her response was, “Well Grunder really liked your praise of it so they left I here. Probably marketing thought it up as a way to remember what you could have had by leaving a taste so you will want to buy more.”

The Quick boost upgrade took the longest as they had to change out the configuration for the Anti-Gravity generator and all the major thrusters. But since they could focus on only that upgrade it was installed pretty quickly. You might be able to actually make it in time for the study group. After its installed they skillfully put the Maeve back together. Once they finish you hop back into the Maeve and do a final check.

“So how are things for you Reinforce?” you ask her as you check all the systems.

<Good. Overall you did not change the upgrade modules but instead went for weapons change.> Reinforce prompts on you HUD. <This makes it easier as I just have to change weapon algorithms instead of conducting hardware adaptations to make them operate at optimal efficiency.> Reinforce's next line reads.

“That's good to hear that I didn't add more work for you.” you reply to Reinforce.

“John check you right pylon camera feed.” Ms Foss tells you.

You quickly switch from your primary sensors to the one mounted at the near the top of the right wing pylon.

“Hmm fixed view with limited traverse. Is it fixed so it works in parallel with Fragarch's gun sensors?” you ask.

“Correct. With Reinforce's data collation abilities and experience we went with this add on. Your accuracy should have a decent increase. Not many other Maeve users have gone this way, so we decided to really go for the extras for you. You will also happily note that since Fargarch is mounted now, you now have a direct feed from your weapon's capacitors for an increase in muzzle velocity in both collapsed and extended modes.” Ms Foss says as she reviews the bay terminal.

“Very cool.” you say as you look up the improved stats on the Fragarch.

“Very cool indeed.” Ms Foss adds.

After the final checks, everything is done and you deactivate the Maeve.

“If you have any ideas come to up with them. We will be glad to work with you.” Ms Foss says as she heads back to office.

You wave goodbye to the crew and begin head to the library. After a little walk, you make it to the table where you regularly have study group. Hmm not everyone is there, Charles, Honne and Yuzu are missing. Guess you are early this time.

“Hey.” you say to Sakuya as you take a seat, “Looks like I am early.”

“Not really, Honnne and Yuzu dragged Charles along to buy more snacks.” Sakuya says cheerfully.

“John you made it early this time. I saw you head off to the hangers for some maintenance so I was wondering how long it would take you.” Cecilia says and moves her seat closer to yours.

You just continue to smile as you look at her.

“Ah John-kun you're here.” you hear Yuzu say from your side.

You see both Charles and Honne with a bag of snacks each with Yuzu leading the group.

“So anything fun happen?” Honne asks you in her ever cheerful voice.

“Oh nothing much. Just some maintenance and bus slot changes on the Maeve. And good news everyone, I became a Candidate Rep for the US.” you reply now with a smug smile.

At first they miss the announcement then they soak in what you just said. It then hits all of them with full force.

“Wait what. Really John you became a Candidate Rep?” they all ask you in shocked and loud voices. And since this is in the library, their shocked voices deafened out all other noise.

“When did this happen?” Yuzu asks still recovering from the shock.

“Just now, apparently the US Government has been talking about this for a while.” you reply, “Also try to keep your voice done, this is the library.”

“Ah right. But still this is big, I haven't heard anything on the news yet.” Yuzu replies now in a quieter voice.

“Well, it isn't official yet. Still need to do all the rubber stamping in Congress so don't tell anyone else yet.” you say.

“Don't worry John-kun you can keep a secret with us.” Honne says as she takes a seat while Charles and Yuzu do the same.

“It was about time your government realized just how important you are John.” Cecilia says in a very smug and proud tone. “As someone already in this position, I can help you with anything that may come up. Just think, a candidate representative from both the UK and US fighting side by side.” Cecilia continues.

“Not too soon, Cecilia you should still be recovering.” you say to Cecilia remembering she was in the nurses office over that fight with Laura.

“Congratulations John. It seemed like this was something that they had planned for a while now.” Charles says smiling.

“Well it does help when you fight off terrorists, drones, and anything else that threats the freedom and security of you girls here.” you reply still with that smug smile.

“Yeah, congratulations John.” Houki says with a smile but it seemed a bit forced. You're not sure if she is still recovering from the news or conflicted over something.

That day you didn't get any studying in but it was really fun to enjoy it with them. And Honne bought just the right type of snacks too, she really knows her junk food. You guess this is a good way to have some fun and relax for the Doubles Tournament coming up. A tournament you plan to win but that is for later.
