Having just shared with your party members (A young dwarf named Grummir and a cat-tribe beastgirl named Miiyau) that you could tell with 100% certainty which items could be succesfully upgraded, you went to the market together with them to try this out, succeeding, and placing a bo staff on the auction house before returning to the dungeon to try and find the boss of the level before advancing into the 10th floor of Albion City's eastern dungeon.

"Alright, it should take at least a few days before anyone buys it, so should we head back to the dungeon, or do you want to call it done with for today?"

"We can still roam the myaze, right nya?"

"Let's try and take down the boss, I think we can do it." -you agree with Miiyau, and Grummir nods, leading the way

The keystone gem Grummir has leads you directly to the spot you left from, a small room relatively out of the way.

Fortunately, no monsters have spawned in the room since you left.

Going out once more, you continue moving into the dungeon, following the map Grummir has. However, you can't find a direct route to the boss room. Every path has at least a couple of monsters, so Grummir decides to take on a group made up by two mimics.

That sounds doable, but you got to remember that you ARE a mage, so it would probably be more efficient to just design a spell involving exploding bullets than to make a gun, anyway.

If you were something without MP, then yeah, I could see that making sense. Besides, for the small spaces involved in a dungeon, a xbow would lose much speed or piercing power, so maybe a better repeating crossbow would be better anyway. Gund were game changing because they allowed massed peasant to do heavy damage to armored targets, But for our small fights its not really neccesary, I think.

I thinl we could probably make a musket without much trouble, but would it be worth it? dynamite, on the other hand, could allow jobs without MP to have AoE (within arm throw range) so I feel that would be more useful.

We should tell mom and elizabeth about our being a scion and able to distribute bonus points.

We know elizabeth will keep our secrets because she already hides our dungeon trips.

This isn't something that will freak mom out. It's not dangerous in itself, unless other people try to exploit it. So she definitely won't tell anyone.

Meanwhile we can improve mom and eli in whatever way they think(or we think) will help them in crafting/ getting more influence in the magic academy.

Having her intelligence/charisma improved and her magic maxed out will help mom improve her standing and connections in the city mage politics. very useful if we need better spells, specialist instruction, a magic item a teacher could requisition, or a connection to some mage troopers(since they have to interact with the academy to get their soldiers trained).

We could improve them secretly, but then mom won't know that she should be aiming to improve her influence instead of enjoying the quiet life.

either way, those bonus aren't doing anyone any good just stacking up.

Not immediately. See, it wasn't until the discovery of cartridge ammunition, magazines, and spiral grooves in the barrel that the bow and sword became truly obsolete. It takes forever to reload a musket, and smoothbore is notoriously inaccurate, so you couldn't even snipe with it like ya could with a good longbow. Hell early guns couldn't even punch through good plate, they were basically smokey crossbows. Do you even know where and why we have the term "bulletproof?"

Point blank shot with a pistol to the plate ya just made. Makes a dent, but if it doesn't go through the plate is "proof" against bullets, bulletproof. The only reason they caught on is because any poor dumb bastard can fire and reload a gun. Takes skill to accurately fire a longbow, and strength to reload a crossbow.

However, since we are a mage enchanted ammo could be pretty badass. Could go all Rip Van Winkle with that snazzy assault musket.

Grummir just did the dwarf inside a tncan show and stood there trading blows with it while the bears hammered on the mimic.

Grummir took 330 points of damage. Miiyau healed him for 225 HP.

Only once they figured out how to make barrels that could handle a bigger charge of powder. Still took em' time to get rid of sword and bowmen. People underestimate the blade in modernity however. Get within 21 feet of a fucker and you'll likely have your knife in his face before he can shoot you. They've studied this.

Besides, magic baby. Mystically reinforced plate or chainmail could make bullets akin to little bitches. Enchanted AP ammo would be very expensive. It also only gets one use, armor can be patched up and handed to somebody else.

In the end, people gotta realize it's money that drives war and the weapons used in it. Guns won in our world because they were more cost effective. If magic armor is more cost effective than AP ammo then armor wins and gets used instead with only the occasional knight falling to guns. Dude what killed him was probably a knight of considerable means, not a peasant.

Side note, have you considered perhaps having a second tree, seperate from Scion? Or two?

I'm thinking a paragon tree, and a scourge tree. For Scourge, you'd start off as a Whelp and have to be level 100 whelp to be a scourge, having access to jobs such as Rogue, Assassin, Black Alchemist, Reaver, and those such things along the way, while in Paragon you'd be a Recruit at the start, and have to get to a level 100 to be a Paragon, gaining access to good alligned things like Liberator, Hero, Justice, etc.

Slave and Scion and their classes would be considered the Neutral end.

We COULD also use bonus points on melee till she unlocks the next weapon trick, get both, and raise both tricks usefulness by that much. Its 8 points. Its a cheap and immediate way to technically raise her armor by that much, after all

That would be the question. Why would we gear her up to be an adventurer when she's safe here, in the center of a mage college, working as a lecturer and professor?
The only reason to make her able to wear any armor would be if we're going to bring her to a fight or we think a fight is going to happen, and there's an entire army around us to prevent something like that from happening.

As a lecturer and college professor, having extradimensional space where she can store course materials, textbooks, notes, and lab equipment is far more useful than the ability to wear any armor.
That's why I said that Villager is more useful to her than Noble.

Hell, we could get them two sets of starting jobs by changing their social class eli gets the nomad/slave starting classes, lyann gets the villager/slave starting classes, mom gets the villager/noble starting classes.

Well, for those who don't know the trick involves throwing the first pair in an arch that intersects at the target. If he blocks they are deflected, the second pair is then thrown, if blocked they are deflected as well.

That's all a set up, however, because due to the mutual attraction they are now circling the target (them blocking is optional, you can also just throw them up in air around the target, just get them circling the problem).

The individual then bum rushes up to the soon to be victim with the third pair, drawing the other two pairs onto the target. If pulled off correctly the enemy will now face 6 simultaneous attacks from different angles.

For a person with only two arms, there is essentially no way to defend against all the incoming attacks. Somewhere, somehow, they are eating at least one attack undefended. It was this guy's favorite trick and why he favored the swords he does despite having access to stronger ones. It's basically a method to render a foe totally defenseless even if they outclass you somehow.

They don't really lead into any prestige classes we want and we're spreading our xp too thin,

I'd like to be an archmage/paladin/scion personally. Access to divine magic, that 70%damage reduction, any weapon or armor, and being to use single target on every target in sight.

If that's just a larger scale spell trick of our fireball x2, then we could potentially take out large armies of low level creatures with only a spell or two.

we need healer and knight to paladin. Then we could shut them while keeping paladin.

We need wizard and healer to get to thaumaturgist -> arcanist->archmage.

ranger doesn't fit anywhere in there. We haven't used it's sneak ability at all.

Being able to wear any armor is a function of the Noble Class.
Shutting off Noble means no longer being able to wear any armor, since we don't have any Class besides Noble.
Shutting off Noble means going into a dungeon with no armor.
