Previously, on Avatar Quest...

Valna told you that you were free to go, and also mentioned that she had murdered the previous Avatar. You asked to go with her to the Southern Kingdom, and suggested fabricating a story in which she was an ambassador to avoid any incidents. She agreed, and the two of you went to the settlement to make preparations to leave. Your charade fooled your brothers, but your mother figured out that you were attempting to deceive her almost immediately. She managed to get the truth from you, and talked you out of going with Valna. When you told Valna the news, she simply said goodbye and left. You and Bulo followed. After a discussion that left Bulo still confused, you decided to go back to the lake and practice your bending. You found Galda waiting for you, and, after assuring her that you were alright, you suggested sparring. She agreed, and was somewhat surprised when you decided to fight without bending.
>>
Welcome to Avatar Quest. Here are the rules.

Decisions are made by vote. Each vote has a ten minute interval, after which, the option that receives the most votes it the one that is chosen.

There are no write-ins unless explicitly stated

Some options require rolls. In that event, rolls will be out of 100. Whether rolls succeed or fail is decided by the first three rolls. If one passes, then you succeed regardless of the other two. Rolls will really only occur during training, or when trying something new.
All decisions are final. If you regret voting for something, too bad. Think carefully before you make decisions.

Try to keep waifu bullshit to a minimum.

>All threads are archived on suptg

"Hey now, be careful with those, they were a gift," you remind Galda as she casually tosses her daggers aside.

She shrugs. "Sand will wash off of them, Shin. Daggers get dirty. So, what do you want to do?"

"I'll fight hand to hand," you tell her.

She raises an eyebrow, a bit surprised by your answer. "Alright Shin, let's see what you can do."

You've fought Galda enough to know that she'll most likely attack first. However, without your bending to aid you, you're not sure how to address her attack when it comes. You don't have much experience fighting hand to hand, a disadvantage your opponent doesn't share.

You think for a moment, then realize that even if you can't bend in this fight, your skills as a bender can help you. You can fight using the characteristics of your bending styles. The question is; which one?

>A. Be like the Earth: Strong and unmovable. Root yourself, block her attacks, and endure any that you can't.

>B. Treat it like Firebending. Attack her with everything you have.

>C. Treat it like Waterbending: try countering and using her own attacks against her

>D. Dialogue writein

You'll approach this like waterbending. You stay where you are and wait for the attack to come.

Galda doesn't keep you waiting long, breaking into a sprint almost immediately. Judging from your still posture, she mistakenly believes that you will simply try to block or weather the blows, so, her first punch is as hard as she can throw. Leaning to the side at the last instant, you grab her arm and pull, adding your own strength to the momentum of her punch, and causing her to fall forward to the ground.

She is back on her feet in an instant, and aims a spinkick at your head. You lean back and push her leg when it comes, causing her to end up with her back turned to you.

Not waiting for her to attack, you make the first move, dashing to her and immediately beginning to throw punches.

Galda, clearly expecting you to wait for her to attack as you did before, is caught off-guard by your sudden assault. So, your first punch connects perfectly, sending her staggering backwards after connection with her face. Your second punch hits her as she's still recovering, causing her to move back even farther. By the time you throw your third punch, however, she is ready.

Her response is very similar to your previous method of fighting. She grabs your arm and pulls, using her strength and your momentum to throw you off-balance. However, instead of throwing you to the ground, she pulls you right into a kick to the gut, following it with a punch to the jaw that almost has you fall on your back. Instead, you step back. Galda looks much more serious now, and you realize you need to end this quick if you want to beat her.

She rolls her eyes. "Shin, I can take a hit. Fighting is pretty much all my father trained me for. I appreciate the thought, but in the future; don't worry."

You seen reach her home, and after saying goodnight, Galda goes inside.

That night, you sleep surprisingly well, and feel nice and refreshed when you wake up in the morning. For a single, wonderful moment, you believe that all the terrible events of the previous day were a dream. Reality sinks in all too quickly, however, and you realize that things are going to be very different from now on.

Getting out of bed, you make your way into the main room. A delicious aroma coming from one of the nearby rooms tells you that at least one member of your family is awake and making something tasty.
