Currently you are out on patrol as per Captain Hikifune in the Rukongai on it's out skirts looking for a mysterious hollow, and you are trying to figure out how to move up higher. So far the patrol hasn't proven to turn up anything, and the Captain wants you back by sunset. You also want to get done quickly so you can check out new furniture if you do choose that Lieutenant gig. After all, it would be beneficial to your plans for someone who actively dislikes you to be your subordinate. You think. It could also be the worse thing ever, and Captain Kirio is helping you work on your project. She wants you to find any trace of it. The subordinates with you- Tachi and Roku are lazy troublemakers and you have a sense that you were sent out not on patrol but babysitting them so they don't try to pick fights. You don't have much to do today. You suddenly spot some unusual tracks in the woods up ahead. "Well well! This aint a snipe hunt afterall See tachi! I told ya!" Roku says. You feel your brain hurt at his voice. You want this to be over with.

And so it begins!

You follow the crashing noise preparing to maneuver around it. You feel immense spiritual pressure, but it doesn't bother you much. You notice that you may be able to pull this off and get back in time. Then you see the thing crashing through the woods. A very, large hollow. It doesn't look that normal, and you don't think it notices you. It doesn't and you maneuver behind it quite easily. It's serpentine, and not really anything special. It looks like it made the tracks. This may be your unusual hollow. Or so you thought until you see the thing that is making that evil hissing/screetching racket. It's a hollow. That's gaseous? And looks sort of human? It's not much larger than a human, in fact you know soul reapers that are taller than it. Wait a second. You get a little closer. Nobody has noticed you yet. You get a bit closer, and that hollow thing looks a bit humanish. Also female. And middle eastern? This wasn't your plan at all.

You recall your teacher going over the three classes of Menos Grande, namely that oddly enough the most powerful of the menos were the smallest ones, and took humanoid forms and were called Vasto Lorde. Additionally, you remember your regional hollow study course, and recall that what you are looking at could very well be a djinn. This brings a few things to mind.

1. Vasto Lordes are supposed to be in Hueco Mundo.
2. Djinn are supposed to be nowhere near here
3. Djinn are easy to trick, and can give wishes- you think?
4. what the fuck are you still doing here that's a god damn vasto lorde your captain just wanted you to find proof and there that shit is.

This is quite the conundrum, and it looks like it is getting worse. The "Djinn" makes that god damn hissing noise again and shoots a black cero annihilating the hollow. And a lot of the trees and things around it. Something is wrong! Why aren't the captains here? Then you realize something. You cannot sense the spiritual pressure of the Vasto Lorde. It's goes over to the other hollow and starts eating it's remains, it looks like it is searching for something.

They were knocked out by the hollow Captain." She looks at you and sighs. "Sosuke you don't have to lie to me. They came in a while ago that you were going to follow the hollow. I know they were causing trouble at the bar." She says. She doesn't look to upset. Well at least at you. She looks at the two and shakes her head. "Where is Lieutenant..." "She was heading over to pick those two up." She says shaking her head. "Aizen. You look like you got hurt pretty bad. Those are not normal wounds from a hollow. What happened?" She asks with concern. "I found the hollow." You say. "I found it and tracked it." She looks at you carefully. "What happened, describe it to me. I have to write out a report."

"I know you like good food, and you missed dinner." She says. You smile at her causing her to shake her head. "Your dismissed Sosuke. Go get some rest." She says.

As you turn to leave "Aizen." She says causing you to turn your head. "If anything is on your mind, you can always come to me." She says. You smile "Of course Ma'am." you respond and head towards the barracks. You place the Roku and Tachi next to the captains quarters just in time for Lieutenant Sarugaki to make a flying jump kick. Crap.

You depart to the meeting place, your stomach growling a little. You speed along until you arrive. You stop and you hear that sound of the hollow appearing right behind you. "What is this?" She asks.

"Food. I was hungry. Would you like some?" You ask offering a taco. She looks at it and eats it.
"This is actually quite nice. The Reishi is extremely intense and complicated!" She says. "It is very filling." She says scarffing it down in a manner that is very unlady like. Then again, it's a fucking Vasto Lorde. Might not want to bring it up. You finish your food, as she shares some of the nachos that the captain gave you.

"If you wouldn't mind." You say to the Vasto Lorde who looks at you with an odd look.
"What are we looking for?" You ask. She smiles. And draws a picture. It is actually quite good artwork, and extremely lifelike. It is of a bell. It has weird carvings and runes on it. "It is quite dear to me." You look over it once more, this is not a hollow artifact, or at least it doesn't look like it. "What exactly does it do?" You say. "It immediately exorcises any other spirit that hears it ring."

"If you help me obtain it. I will grant you one wish." She says.

"The bell is steadily switching between three locations. One just outside the rukongi, one in the countryside and the other is atop a mountain. She says causing you to smirk. Suddenly your trap goes off. And so does hers.

And some of them look like they are from squad two. Yep. That was no normal cat. But you know that. "I cannot stay here Sosuke. I must depart." Aintza says

"We don't have time to stay here. I have no desire to be captured here." She says in a quickened tone

She then does the same thing to the chest area. "Thank you for helping me. Perhaps tomorrow you can tell me why you are doing so..." She says. "Perhaps. If you tell me how you hide your spiritual pressure." You say causing her to grin. You smile and she gives you a quick peck on the cheek "Leave soul reaper- before your comrades find you." She says in a more serious tone. You contemplate what would happen if you were caught with a vasto lorde.

You flash step towards the squad twelve barracks and walk towards your small apartment. You step in and notice how boring your room is, even though you are a third seat. You think back on the evening and begin work looking at the box. You used to have one of these a long time ago. It was a gift. Yours was black though. This one is a weird ivory color. Only it had a scroll and brush not a bell. The scroll was half of something. The brush was nice though, you used it frequently.

You play around with it for a while and you open it up. And low in the center are a bell, a scroll and a brush. The caligraphy is strange, but..

You go to your old puzzle box. You open it up.

He kept his hands in his pockets" You say recalling the figure from your child hood. You remember that the Royal Guard were present. And so were some weird figures that were standing with the Guard member who had multiple arms. You remember also that there was one other figure there. Well not technically. You figure he was spying on the meeting as you were. The man with the strange blue and white mask. And the odd outfit. That was until he flash stepped nearby and said something to the red hooded man. Before the two left. He left the box there. Tonight the other box appeared, with the bell in it. The captains could answer more questions, potentially then the Vasto Lorde. If you play your cards right.

"Indeed." The masked man says then turns to you and makes a gesture. And turns to a dog thing? The two depart through a strange portal that seems torn open in the sky as if it were cracked. You look down at the box and see something you must have forgotten in the past. A note. You look at it briefly, "If the soul king abstains- Stand Up! Be strong. Wait for the first night of the year of the sparrow. Wait under the sign of Mazda."

You come back to the present as you look at Yoruichi who seems to be- purring? Captain Kirio is looking at you curiously.

Kirio and Yoruichi look at you gravely after saying the "I remember quite a bit." You go over in explicit detail everyone that was there. Down to what they looked like and what they were called. You see Yoruichi stop soaking in the bliss, she also takes her feet away from you (albeit it seems a bit reluctantly) and she looks at Kirio. "Do you remember what they were voting on?" Yoruichi says. "I just walked into it." You say. "And they were as exactly as you describe them?" Kirio asks. "Yes Ma'am." You say nodding to her. Yoruichi nods "This has been most revealing. I will inform the captain commander" Before the two leave. You say "Wait."

The two stop "Captains who was it that informed you that I was there?" You say in a dire voice.
"The Captain Commander himself." Yoruichi says in a calm tone. "He realized it was you when you became a seated officer." Yoruichi says flash stepping off. But not your captain. She looks at you and then raises an eyebrow. "What Ma'am?" You ask. She shakes her head "You amaze me more and more everyday Aizen." She says. "Whatever you did to Yoruichi, if you could make me feel that good I would at least say thanks." She says shaking her head.

Seriously, there are very few points in time where a wish-granting woman who could probably beat the ass of most of the current captains couldn't be useful for something.

Sure, we should backstab her if we find out that she'd get in the way of our plans (which she invariably will, I doubt the author's seriously giving us that kind of firepower this early in the game), but just backstabbing her for no actual reason, like Aizen canonically does, is stupid.

You get behind her and quickly and effectively pop her back "Oh my god that was amazing." causing her to sound like her old cheery self before she started the project. She sits back down on the chair and you stop her "Get on the floor please captain, I am going to walk on your back. You need quite a bit of work." The captain smiles, an honest to goodness legitimate smile and she lies on her stomach on the floor. On your nice rug. It hasn't looked this nice in quite some time. "Anyways, I am trying to create an artificial soul." The captain says letting out a gasp shortly after. You let out a surprised noise yourself. You knew that your captain was brilliant, but this- well this is a surprising development! 1/2

You stop the chopping and go over the back once more. She is a lot better now. "All done." You offer a hand and she takes it. "The thing about barrier kido, like Danku and others- is it's all about confidence. If you don't have confidence, barrier kido doesn't work. I will start work with you tomorrow." She says putting on her captains robe and quickly straightening her hair. "After I get a good night sleep." She says smiling and in a cheerful voice "Finally." Before turning and leaving, she looks at you.
"Sosuke." She says looking you directly in the eyes.

"Thank you so much." She says with some joy and satisfaction in her voice. She then flash steps out your door.

You crash on to your chair going over the day. Your captain is making an artificial soul. You have befriended a Vasto Lorde. You made the captain of squad two literally purr. Not bad for a days work.

You can set up posts without art. You could use an image for effect like inventory, a map or a NPC portrait.

I think Deculture had done that before by compensating for his lack of hand drawn art with fanart.

You figure you should get some sleep. But before sleeping you go over the note in your mind. It didn't make any sense. Just something some hollow/masked whatever made up. It seemed like pure nonsense. There is no year of the sparrow, how could it have a first night? The sign of Mazda? The only thing that makes since is that it came with the box. And in the box was the caligraphy, and on the box is a pattern that is repeated on the other one.

It's a code! It's some sort of cypher. Or that's the most logical explanation.

You will figure out the code in the morning, or at least do some etchings and other things before giving the box to Aintza.

It's your first quest and it's ok, but I highly recommend checking out a few other quests to see how other people do things. Also read a few books to get a better idea of how to properly structure things and form a coherent story.
