News and happenings around the world are troublesome.

The Orcs and Beastmen that serve (you think) Gorrask have dwindled in number thanks to your efforts, last year they numbered almost 300,000, now there numbers are barely 80,000. Their numbers are beginning to grow again, but slowly – they might never reach the numbers Gorrask would need to threaten the Kingdom of Dornmer.

You talk to priests at the Church of Yerra to see what they can tell you about dragons, and Ryzan in particular, their answers are not encouraging. Ryzan is a very old and powerful dragon – he dreams of taking his place amongst the dragon pantheon but lacks a divine sponsor. Still, they reassure you that he has slept for centuries, and there are always rumours of his awakening – you need not worry.

If a group of dragons are after you they say then you should certainly worry, but dragons are not cooperative creatures and being so long-lived they don’t hurry, unless roused into a temper. Just getting a group of dragons to agree on a date for an attack might take years, and a decade or more to agree on a plan.
>>
You’ve visited Ellahi in her dreams from time to time, though perhaps not as much as you could have. With the Ruler gone Ellahi’s full talents at political manipulation have yielded results: For the first time in Drache history all people are allowed an equal say in their government, as everyone over the age of 21 is now allowed to vote.

Drache is going through a time of change and many of the powerful demons have fled the plane. The Church of Velya is small, but growing. As the daughter of the Ruler Ellahi said she would face opposition to taking power openly and so prefers to work behind the scenes. All in all, although Drache has a long way to go, it’s changing for the better.

More troubling are rumours of war reaching the Kingdom of Dornmer by merchant ship. An army of undead and machines has swept out of the Drowned Lands and attacked a nearby kingdom – conquering it in a week. Although thousands of miles away, the speed of the conquest is the talk of the court in Dornmer itself, especially given that the expedition has only recently returned.

Sorry, I forgot to include this in last thread.

A year old, your first angel, Ophinus is still learning about the world in many respects. Although you imbued him with certain knowledge at his creation, he sometimes lacks context for things, leading to some unusual conversations.

One day, as you’re visiting the villages and towns of your barony, Ophinus asks about a trial you were asked to preside over, as the two of you fly home.

“Creator” he say “Why do criminals exist – why do you allow them to exist?”

“I didn’t create this world or realm” you answer “I just try to manage it as best I can.”
>>
“Then why permit criminals existence?” asks Ophinus “If all they do is harm others around them, why not get rid of them?”

>Not all criminals are evil; some are people who make mistakes
>Criminals are ordinary people, until they commit a crime
>I wish I could wipe out crime, but I don’t have that power
>Law and crime are a complex issue, there’s no simple answer
>People have freedom; that comes at a cost
>Other (what?)
>>
Meta: one anon raised a good point last thread – although it takes time for a suitably large storm to show up to absorb, Sireyi can still be doing things in that time.

Add as a 4th task: Absorb Storm?

Y/N
>>
>>35473536
Y, but not as much as it would be as a full action. I would see it that a more powerful storm not near our holding could appear that we miss out upon.

>Law and crime are a complex issue, there’s no simple answer
>People have freedom; that comes at a cost
>>
>>35473536
I was that anon. Another one raised a good point: It would take time to travel around searching for a big storm.

If we just take whatever storm comes near our doorstep, we would not lose time. On the other hand, we would have to be lucky to get any big storms, and would more likely have to absorb several smaller storms, which would be harder.

I still vote:
>Y
>>
>>35473524
>If all they do is harm others around them
This is untrue. They do harm others, but that is not all they do and not all they will do in the future. They are complex creatures, who usually do both good and evil.

Furthermore, everyone can change. Criminals may become lawful, and lawful good people may be driven to crime because of circumstances.
>>
>>35473524
>crime has many reasons to exist. Be it desperation, vengeance, incorrect upbringing, different cultural values, or plain evil...it's not something that can be stomped so easily.
>People are free, freedom is a part of a worthy life. We can only hope they don't use their freedom for committing crimes.

We need to give him sociology and law books, if he wants any hint of understanding criminality.

>Y

Sure, gimme more actions~
>>
“Crime and the law are a complex issue” you say to Ophinus “there isn’t a simple answer to your question: you need to explore the reasons crime be it desperation, vengeance, incorrect upbringing, different cultural values, or plain evil...it's not something that can be stomped so easily.”

“Further” you add “People are free, freedom is a part of a worthy life. We can only hope they don't use their freedom for committing crimes, but part of being free is having the freedom to do wrong.”

“Thank you Creator” says Ophinus, after a long pause “You’ve given me a lot to think about”

“I think I need to find you some books on law and society” you say to your angel “If you want to learn about this.”

You spend the afternoon trying to educate Ophinus about such things.

And there are other matters....

You are Sireyi, but not Valyenya.

Your minions in Castle Dalvin have overheard Sireyi talking to her companions of plans and plots, tasks, and troubles.

You’re currently in the Town of Dalvin, under the guise of an ordinary person living an ordinary life.

SHE is doing many things, SHE’ll soon have a lot of angels serving her – that’s worrying, you might not be able to see your children with hundreds of angels in the castle. Maybe you should take custody of your children now.

But there is good news: SHE’s going away to another plane – that’ll be an ideal time to step into HER place.

Also, SHE is getting married. Whilst you’re happy that Isla, Jal and Sofia finally got what you wanted, this only highlights how alone you are. Still, that’s fixable, with a little of their blood, you can make your own Jal, Isla and Sofia.

And as always, the orcs, and now maybe the dragons might make good allies.
>>

Correction
"Sofia etc got what they wanted" (not what you wanted)

Note: Your Duplicate doesn’t know all the details of your plans, and is misinterpreting some of what she does know – hence the differences between this post, and what Sireyi is actually doing.

Go see the dragons and make your own Sofia it is.

With an option to come back later and take her place, maybe.

What will Sofia's duplicate be like?
>>
>>35474015
I imagine very much like the original one, since that is who EvilSireyi wants, just a more unrestrained version, like Sofia would be sometimes without Sireyi, when she wanted to murder Shahulzer and such.
>>
>>35474015
Like Sofia.

A clone which looks like Sofia but behaves completely differently would defeat the point of making a clone Sofia, assuming not-Sireyi has similar thoughts on relationships to the original, at least in this aspect.
>>
>>35474015
I only know one thing, at some point Jal will fuck her evil twin.
>>
>>35474015

Sexy and less retrained, probably.

...Jal wouldn't be very different from current Jal.
>>
Those dragons sound like they might just be powerful enough to get rid of HER for you, you’ll go and talk to them.

But...you don’t want to be alone anymore. Slipping into the castle you easily make your way into Sofia and Jals room. The two of them look so tiny, cuddled up together asleep in a king-sized bed.

A simple spell powered by your mighty will is able to force its way past Sofia’s mystical resistance and send her into a deeper slumber, another spell does the same to Jal.

A pin-prick is all that you need to gather enough of Sofia’s blood, and then you heal the injury leaving no sign of what you’ve done, the spot of blood on a handkerchief held tightly in your grasp.

Later that night you set up a magical circle in the basement of a house you’ve rented and and cast your spell. The tiny droplet of blood lifts from the handkerchief and rises within the circle, suspended in mid-air. Then it starts to grow.

Over the course of an hour it grows and grows to fill the circle, a mass of blood larger than Sofia, and then it bursts!

Curled up naked in the circle is Sofia, blood still dripping from her she starts to stir, and then wakes.

She looks around in confusion “Sireyi?” she says, spotting you “What’s going on? The last I remember I was going to bed with Jal – where are we, and why am I covered in...eeeew, gross!”

“You’re not the real Sofia yet” you explain, wiping the blood from her face “But you will be, one day, when we get rid of...her.”

Sofia looks at you in confusion and then realises “you’re the copy from the Drowned Lands” she says.

Ok, that does it.

Your backhanded slap knocks her out of the circle and across the room, ending up against the wall.

“I’m not the copy!” you scream “I’m the real Sireyi! She’s the false one!”

Naked, newborn and covered in blood, Sofia is still Sofia: she rises to her feet and assumes a fighting stance “If that’s the way you want to do it” she says “Try that again; come on! I’m ready for you now!”

Even defying you she is beautiful to your eyes, even when she’s staring at you in hatred, congealing blood sliding slowly down her, you love her.

“Sofia” you say, your voice urging her to love and respect you “I’m sorry I hit you my love, but you just made me angry, you shouldn’t make me angry, please, I love you.”

Sofia’s eyes start to lose focus as your voice has its intended effect “Yes” she says “I shouldn’t make you angry, I’m so sorry.” Her hands drop down by her sides.

“That’s alright” you say, walking up to her and gathering her in your arms “I’m here and we’re together, nothing is going to part us. We can deal with this, together.”

“Yes” she agrees, returning your hug “Together.”

Sireyi Valyenya

Yes, the real one

Well the day has finally arrived, you visited Ellahi in her dreams a few nights ago and you’re ready to go and visit Drache again.

From what Ellahi has told you, you will not be attacked or arrested on sight for being a part-angel. In fact she’s made sure everyone knows you killed the demon lords. People see you as a saviour, or so she claims. You wonder if instead people might fear you.

Going in disguise is no longer required, but might avoid a scene.
>>
Planeshifting spells are not terribly precise, you’ll arrive near the city of Arrowgate and can either teleport to Ellahi’s home or walk in.

So who is going with you?
>I’m going alone

We can bring Sofia and Jal if they want to, but I doubt they would. Otherwise bringing all our usually evil/redeemed/transformed companions seems like a good idea.

Ok, quite a party you're bringing.

Not sure if I'm happy with bringing our children into that kind of potential danger.
But at least they got enough caretaker with them.
>>
You decide that it will be good for Ellahi to meet all of your soon-to-be family and you taking Isla, Sofia, Jal and the kids with you (including Ebonsong).

Shahulzer will fit right in, in Drache and Lunia runs the Church of Velya in your realm, so her insights into the Church Ellahi has formed will be invaluable, not to mention her own divine powers.

You arrive in the countryside near Arrowgate and cloak yourself and your companions in an illusion and head into the city.

The city has changed since last you came: There are almost no beggars around and people don’t shrink in fear from the city guard – maybe Ellahi’s changes are working.

There’re a lot of posters on walls urging passersby to vote for one person or another by extolling their virtues: experience, trustworthiness, honour, change, stability – the list goes on.

At last you see Ellahi’s house before you: It looks different, she’s had a lot of building work done and the house is larger and grander than ever.

Still, some things haven’t changed, just as you’re about to knock on the door it opens to reveal a familiar woman in a floor-length dress, with a very conservative cut that covers everything from the neck down, though the dress is form-fitting, revealing her every curve. She has blonde hair pulled back into a bun and her green eyes look at you over glasses with half-lenses. She has obviously long pointed ears and appears to have no demon ancestry at all, or at least no visible demon traits. Her expression is neutral, revealing nothing.

“Hello again” you say “How have you been?”

“The Mistress is expecting you” she says “please follow me” and she leads you through the enlarged house to an opulent sitting room.

Inside the room is Ellahi, though in contrast to the first time you met her, she’s alone, and fully clothed.

Ellahi is looking over some papers when you enter and rises to greet you all with hugs and kisses.
>>
“How you’ve grown!” she exclaims, hugging Ebonsong, currently in her half-dragon form “You were just a babe when I last saw you”

“When I last saw you” says Ebby, with the typical tact of a child “nobody trusted you.”

Ellahi laughs off the comment and turns to Mili and Vivi, giving them each a hug and a kiss, as well as small wrapped presents that she assures a worried Sofia and Jal contain only candies.

“And speaking of grown” she leers at Sofia, who gives Ellahi a somewhat stiff hug whilst Jal gives Ellahi a meaningful glare.

When Ellahi and Jal hug it looks even more awkward – you see Jal whisper something in Ellahi’s ear that makes Ellahi chuckle tolerantly.

As Ellahi moves on, Jal whispers to you “I was gonna use me new ink on her if she don’t treat Sof wi’ respect.”

“Well you’re new” says Ellahi to Isla, giving her a full body hug, and trying to wrap her tail around Isla’s “What even are you?”

“It’s complicated” says Isla, as she extracts herself from Ellahi’s grip.

“Really?” responds Ellahi “I just love *exploring* puzzles.”

“And another child?” she looks down at Poppy in confusion.

“No you lunker” says Poppy crossly “I’m a Halfling”

Ellahi’s eyes go wide in surprise and she sweeps Poppy up into a hug “Oh Sireyi” She says “you shouldn’t have, can I keep her? She’s soooooo cute!”

“That’s up to Poppy” you say diplomatically, as the subject of the conversation gives an outraged shriek and pries herself out of Ellahi’s grip.

Lastly Ellahi turns to Shahulzer, looking like a young part-demon “Oh Sireyi” she says as she greets him “I should have known your time in Drache would give you an appreciation for devilish lovers, he is young and fit!” Despite your protestations, Ellahi doesn’t seem to believe that you and Shahulzer aren’t....anyway..

With the introductions over, Ellahi turns to the purpose of your visit.
>>
“I’m so glad you’ve come” she says “even if this is a business visit, now, tell me all about this plan of yours....”

As Ellahi’s staff bring refreshments for you and your companions you tell her about your plan to recruit part-demons by transforming them into part-angels. You’ve not yet told Ellahi why you plan to do this.

“Huh” she says “That sounds interesting, of course you realise this could undermine what I’m trying to do here?”

“What do you mean?” you ask

“I’ve built this new government on the idea of equality” she explains, walking away to gaze out of the window “The traditionalist, conservative Party – The Imperial Party are the main opposition. Doing this would play right into their hands – they harp on about blood primacy and how the old nobility – demons and demon-blooded are superior to the low-blooded.”

“I wouldn’t just recruit demon-bloods” you say “I’m willing to give empower ordinary people too.”

Ellahi shakes her head “A fine idea in principle” she says “But how will you determine who to give such power to?”

“I’d be screening them” you say “maybe talk to Gendric about potential recruits, those that have redeemed themselves on their own strength, those that have shown compassion or charity.”

“How is Gendric by the way?” you ask.

“Doing well” says Ellahi with a smile “He’s the head of the Church Wardens – the militant arm of the Church of Velya.” You blink in surprise: on your plane the Church of Velya doesn’t have a militant arm.

“We write each other occasionally” she says “He has a lot to keep him busy: training, recruiting, and leading the Wardens against some of the more violent adherents of the old ways.”

“And the Church itself?” you ask

“Growing” she says “Few warmed to a church based purely on peace and compassion, but once we introduced public celebrations of Velyan holy days with wine and a party” she gives you a wink that lets you know exactly what sort of party she means “We started getting more recruits. I think membership is almost at ten-thousand across the United Drache States, and growing.”

“Well I shall talk to Gendric” you say “about which have shown to be good people; acted selflessly and not in their own interests, things of that nature.”

“Why do you want such followers anyway?” asks Ellahi curiously

“Well...” you explain about the divine spark within you, about your need for deific powers, about Salvastis and your mother.

Ellahi’s normally unshakable composure cracks a little “Wow” she says “That’s quite a...thing” she seems lost for words “And here I thought I was once your- anyway, sure, I’ll help where I can, of course I will help the Demonslayer.”

“Demonslayer?” you say with a sinking feeling.

Ellahi waves a hand dismissively “A little propaganda to get some of the older demons to leave the plane” she says “Think nothing of it.”

“Whilst I’m here” you say “Can I help you with something – like those political problems you mentioned?”
>>
“Ah yes” says Ellahi with a grimace “That. Well, as I was saying, the Imperial Party opposises change in all its forms – they lost a lot of power when the older demons left but there is one demon too powerful for us to chase away, and he’s taken a more active role in politics recently, Hanandrirac.”

“Oh him” you respond

“Yeah” says Ellahi “I could really do with him gone, one way or another. Still, you should drop by and see Gendric about recruiting, he’s the best one to talk to about screening potential recruits.”

“Thank you” says Ellahi warmly “Can you at least stay for lunch?”

“Of course we can” you say.

After you and your companions enjoy lunch with Ellahi, talking of past adventures and future events (Ellahi managing to convince Isla to invite Ellahi to your wedding) you are ready to leave.

Gendric is at the main church of Velya, in a city several hundred miles away, called Kihac. Ellahi gives shows you a picture of the church under construction – enough for you to teleport there - as well as several pictures of the city and the fields around it.

You decide to teleport straight to the Church: Poppy will be happy enough to look after the kids whilst you wander through the city with your companions. Things don’t quite go as planned...

As the flash from your spell fades you see before you a huge building under construction, surrounded by an impressive-looking compound and outer wall.

As you approach church acolytes, laypeople and guards turn to look at you and gasping in awe “The Demonslayer, she has returned!”

“The Demonslayer”
“The Demonslayer”
“Praise Be”
“The Demonslayer”
“Beware the Light of Judgement from the Heavens”
“Remember the Rulers fate”
“The Demonslayer”

Before long you have quite a crowd of churchgoers around you, pressing in close. Mili and Vivi hug your legs looking scared and Ebby looks ready to attack.

“Back, back!” yells a familiar voice, “give her some room!”

The crowd parts and you see Gendric with several soldiers with him, pushing people aside. He’s wearing fine clothes and looks healthy and happy, if a little tired.

“Sireyi!” he says, giving you crushing hug “How are you?”

“I’m well” you say “Is there somewhere more private we can talk?”

“Of course” he says, leading you and your companions away from the crowd and into a private office.

Gendrics office looks sparse and almost empty – he gets some acolytes to bring some chairs for you all.

Once introductions are complete, he gets down to business.

“Ellahi mentioned something about you recruiting demon-bloods and turning them into angel-blooded” he says “I have quite a few candidates for that if that’s what you want.”

>Great, I’ll let you pick them
>I want to screen them (criteria?)
>Not just demonblooded, anyone

“Not just the demon-blooded” you say “I will accept anyone who meets the criteria.”

“And what’s that?” asks Gendric with amusement

“People that have shown good faith and service to the Lady, people, who seek and work for redemption” you say “I’ll consider those you recommend of course, but they must still meet the requirements which include compassion and mercy chief among them, that they strive for personal redemption and they may have to undergo the Redeeming Touch – which can be a difficult experience.”

“Alright” says Gendric “I can work with that.”

“Would you like to be transformed Gendric?” you ask gently.

He freezes “Let me think about it” he says quietly “can I think about it?”

“Of course” you say “Take as long as you need, in the meantime, how about showing us around the city?”

“Poppy” you say to your companion “Do you mind staying here with the children, perhaps you can explore the church with them.”

“Of course” says Poppy, the two of you planned for her to look around the church anyway.

With that, you and your companions set out to look around the city with Gendric, as you walk he asks “So how strict do you want to be about the requirements? I mean, I get that you don’t want anyone to misuse the abilities they have, but the stricter you are, the fewer the number who will meet your standards.”

It's not like even a person who passes the most strict muster today can't descend into evil tomorrow, and vice versa anyway.

Regardless, people should be told beforehands that just because someone gains angelic features doesn't make them automatically good - just like people with fiendish blood have been proven to be good guys.

Still, the candidates should be aware that their boon is also a burden and a responsibility.

But the stricter ones are the most likely not to. And this is supposed to be a test run to prove the concept, if these guys don't cut it, it will seriously damage future attempts.

Strict criteria could disallow people who have screwed up even after trying for redemption, or who do not meet all the criteria.

Is that fair? Well it's a matter of opinion really.

Putting fair in the middle vote means that less than perfect candidates can still make it, but that you're not accepting just anyone.

Strict is only accepting the best of the best.

I'm gonna withold my vote until I know how this is fairer judging than the strict one, I wouldn't want Sireyi to be somehow unfairly restrictive, but I dislike the "middle of the road" thing, compromise isn't really something that should be done with something this important.

“I’ll be as strict as I can” you say “Whilst still being fair – I will set high standards but will not turn away a person just because they fail in a single area.”

“Well” says Gendric “hopefully you won’t have to spend too much time judging every case personally.”

The city of Kihac is not a large one, and seems fairly liberal by Drache standards: you see demon-blooded and low born in conversations with each other, there are few beggars and the place seems no different from cities in Dornmer.

As you walk, your appearance starts to draw a crowd, with people calling you *Demonslayer* over and other. Some come up to talk to you, but many shy away.

Gendric explains “No one really knew how you killed the Ruler” he says “And there were powerful demons who thought they could stop into his shoes – having the spectre of a vengeful, demonslaying angel was useful in driving them away.”

“I’m not sure I like being a tool of fear” you say, as you walk through town, a crowd surrounding you.

“Sireyi be reasonable” says Isla “It was either that or Gendric and Ellahi would have to fight every- hrglc!”
>>
Isla is interrupted by a crossbow bolt flying through the air and slamming into her shoulder. You catch her as she topples to the ground, the crowd around you scattering in confusion and fear.

Your companions quickly have their weapons out and are looking around for the attacker.

“I’m ok” says Isla shakily, held in your grasp “I don’t think it hit anything vital.” Indeed, although she is bleeding, it’s more of a slow seep – thanks to Isla’s toughness the bolt didn’t penetrate very deep.

“There!” says Sofia pointing to a figure running along a nearby rooftop.

“Mine!” insists Jal, running towards a cart and scrambling up the side, climbing towards the fleeing crossbowman.

>Let Jal catch him

“Sofia-” You say

“I’ve got her” says Sofia, taking Isla from your arms, as Isla protests that she’s fine.

You call down the lightning to yourself and appear in front of a young human-looking man running at you with a crossbow, he’s trying to look over his shoulder so when you appear in a flash of lightning he turns in surprise but can’t stop and runs straight into you, bouncing back from your unyielding form.

“Death to the tyrants!” he screams and drops his crossbow and pulls forth a knife and tries to stab you.

Well, points for effort, but not skill – you easily grab his wrist and disarm him, holding him firmly just as Jal climbs over the edge of the buildi- wait, is that Jal?

It looks like Jal, except for y’know the dozen 6ft-long red-skinned tentacles coming out of her back and helping her climb on top of the building.

“Jal?” you ask, not really sure.

“I said he was mine- what?” she says

“Your uh...” you say

“Oh these” she says, wiggling the tentacles at you “Yeah I went to Jianxi an’ she did me a loverly little ink wot lets me climb, ‘old weapons an’ all sorts.”

“Oh...right” you say “Um, they look nice...”

Jal gives you a very familiar smirk “Wait’ll you find out how they feel.”

Eeeeeeeeeeep!

Anyway, important matters at hand, can’t get distracted. Oh Velya, Jal with tentacles?!

You fly down to your group of companions, who haven’t moved – they’re just watching the surroundings.

“What’s this all about” you say, holding the young man in one fist, as Jal wriggles out of your grasp and goes to check on Isla, her tentacles slowly retracting.

“Death to the tyrants!” yells the young man “The common man must have his day!”

“Oh that” says Gendric “Let’s get back to the church....

Back at the church, and with Isla safely lying down with something to eat and the young man under guard, Gendric takes you to his office and explains.

"What has political compromise to do with wanting to kill a random girl that wasn't even involved in the rebellion in Drache?" you ask, you're still a little on edge about someone shooting Isla.

"He wasn't aiming for her" says Gendric "He was aiming for me - he just wasn't a very good shot, nor was he using a very good crossbow."
>>

>have you ever heard of bad aim

>Also, Velya. Our whole shtick is love and forgiveness.
I don't see how one thing has to do with the other? No one says we should quarter him.
But shooting at people for political gain is not okay. It definitly doesn't make him fir our criteria for a person worthy of transforming, someone who thinks problems should be solved with violence is not a good example.
>>
>>35476609
None of your points change the fact that he tried to murder someone for little to no reason.

That doesn't mean we forgive everyone for everything immediately and then grant them the gift of being made into a part-angel, something everyone else has to work for, on top of that.
>>
>>35476656

Its explictly said these guys want more radical reforms, so obviously he wanted to shoot at Gendric to make a political statement. Otherwise he shot at him for no reason at all, which would be even worse.
Using violence to cause more radical political change and risking innocent casualties is a act of terrorism, he might not be a evil person, but clearly a very very misguided one.

>I think someone is a tyrant
>that makes it okay to murder people

You do realized we spent a shitload of time going through here and murdering people right? Are you okay? You may want to restrain that hypocrisy its lashing out.
>>
>>35476677
It's really not, he's done nothing to prove himself good, compassionate or merciful person and resorting to cold-blooded murder to fight a supposed 'tyrant' doesn't speak well of him.

Your second point doesn't actually matter in regards to the post of mine you're replying to, but it's extremely likely that he's a radical and is doing this to advance his cause by assassinating Gendric.
>>
>>35476677
Attacking unrelated people for political causes is not acceptable behavior. Period.
If he is seriously misguided, he will see reason and better his ways and become a genuine political actor that used the now provided tools of democratic discourse to convince other people of his position and bring about reforms.
Shooting with crossbows at people does not bring positive political change. And if he thinks it does, he has a lot to learn.

“Thank you” you say, after checking Isla is ok, you head down to the cells to have a talk with the would-be assassin, Gendric is by your side.

He’s in an underground cell lying on a bunk that looks more confortable than cells you’ve been in before.

As you enter he sits up and looks at you, taking in your imposing angelic form.

“Lovely illusion” he sneers, when he sees Gendric he spits on the floor and says smply “Opressor.”

“I want to talk to you” you say “about why you shot my friend.”

“I wasn’t aiming for her” he says “I was aiming for him.” He points an accusing finger at Gendric.

“Because they lied to us!” he screams “They used us, claimed our voices would be heard and then ignored us.”

“Their goals were unworkable” says Gendric “Idealistic, and sounding fine in principle, but not practical.”

“Lies!” screams the young man “You never tried!”

“What are these goals?” you ask

The young man lists them:

“The Abolition of private property in land and application of all rents of land to public purpose.”
“A heavy progressive income tax.”
“Abolition of all rights of inheritance.”
“Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.”

Its not really a medieval society, Drache is more advanced than our world, and these ideas did exist before. Its just, all so naive. >>

I changed my mind mid way through typing it.

That's why I said french revolution, if there was a convention it is easy to see where a group of well educated people could get together and choose those points.

Of course with that sort of extreme that tends to turn into rivers of blood.

Anything more and it risks derailing the thread.

FUCK YEAH!!!!

“I’m ok with hearing the full list” you say to Gendric, he sighs.

The young man continues his full list of demands – they are in the same vein as the previous ones: that all means of manufacture be in the hands of the government, that cities and towns must be abolished and merged with the countryside, that private ownership of business be abolished and so on.

It all sounds very strange to you, and raises more questions than it answers.

“Who is *we*?” you ask

“I would rather die than betray my brothers and sisters of the revolution!” he declares

“Small groups of educated and privileged young men and women” says Gendric “Mostly they just rant on street corners.”

You try questioning the young man about his beliefs

“Tell me more about your demands.” You say “How do you imagine society would work?”

“All people would work together for the betterment of each other” he responds

“What would happen to people unhappy with this arrangement?” you ask

“Those who disagree with us are pawns of the so called *high-blood* nobility” he spits out “Those who do not see the light of revolution are evil.”

“Do you honestly believe this would work?” you ask

“Do you honestly believe they way things are now is working?” he counters

“Why not settle a region that would work with this system you've envisioned, to see whether it would work, before committing all people to something that could end in a bloodbath?” You ask

“And let the bloated, wealthy nobility destroy such an experiment by deception” he says “I see through your lies”

“I have seen the Empire before and after” you say “and I see stark improvement, would you want to destroy all that for slim chance of getting your system to work by force?”

“If you’re not for complete change” he says “You’re just advocating for things to slip back to the old ways.”
>>
“How many innocents like my friend would you be willing to kill?” you try

“That you think the Oppressor is *innocent* only shows how deluded you are” he snaps.

It’s clear that this young man is very dedicated to his goals, and you don’t think even your persuasive skills would be sufficient to get him to reveal anything about his allies.

All they could determine was that it wasn't Arcane or Divine, which is true, because it's Angelic.

The text surrounding voice usage in the past makes me think it's messing with their brains a little, what with urging them towards certain things on a seemingly-subconscious level even when we don't use the emotional control properties.

>>35478098
Don't vote yes blindly, if people have wards up to detect mental alterations, they'd still be tripped.

In addition, it's an Angelic ability, and therefore off limits when we go into hell.

“We need to know how to find your friends” you say “If we can talk to them, maybe some sort of compromise can be made, don’t you believe that the people of Drache should be allowed to choose their own fate?”

As you speak your voice urges him towards agreement, calming his fiery temper.

Although resistant at first, after several minutes of discussion he gives up the names of his allies, as well as the places they meet.

You and Gendric leave the cell to discuss this.

“Thanks Sireyi” he says “I don’t know how we would have got all that information without you.”

“What will you do to them?” you ask.

“Just watch them” he says with a shrug “There’s no law against them talking to people about their goals, and if they try to attack anyone, we’ll be ready.”

“And him?” you indicate the young man in the cell.

“Prison most likely” says Gendric “up to the magistrate really, but probably several years in lock-up to cool him down.”

He considers and then adds “Of course if you want, I could ask them to give him a lighter sentence, or maybe let him go.”

While I am loathe to get in the way of justice (again), I'd say the situation warrants:

>Let him go
>Have him bring a message to his friends: they are free to proselytize their ideals, but any violent actions will be punished by law

Although I wouldn't mind leaving this up to magistrate. In that case just make sure he's judged fairly, not with exceptionally harsh sentence (he's still lucky, attempted assasination could have gotten him hanged)

“I think his sentence should be community service” you say “since he has such fervent ideas about working for the common good, maybe he should try contributing.”

Gendric chuckles “Sounds right” he says “I’ll tell the magistrates, now if you’ll excuse me” he continues “I need to go and check the guards are on alert, just in case.”

You climb out of the cellar and seek out Jal to talk to her privately. You find her in Isla’s room with Sofia and the children, and you ask her to step outside for a few minutes.

“Jal” you say “About the tattoo Jianxi gave you.”

“It’s tha biz ain’t it” says Jal happily

“It’s very...uh, you” you say “But are you sure it’s the right choice?”

“Whaddya mean?” says Jal, confused “Ya tol’ me ta see Jianxi an’ she laid out the options fair an’ square like an’ this what I got.”

“You’ve put a lot of thought into this” you say quietly, barely more than a breath “why?”

“Pardon?” you say

“Every weapons gotta be a tool” says Jal “An’ every tool a weapon – ‘cos ya never know when yer might need either eh?”

“Right” says Jal “So a lotta arms can ‘elp me climb, or go in someones eye if they grab me.”

“True” you concede

“And” continues Jal “It’s make it real easy fer me ter peel off yer pan-”

Ok, time to show Jal she can’t get to you any time she wants. You quickly grab both of her wrists in a single hand and lift her into the air, pinning her against the wall, you body pressed against hers, the fingertips on your free hand trailing gently down *her* cheek.

Jal looks shocked, then happy “When you finally get me in bed Jal” you say “we’ll see who comes out on top”.

Jal gives you a sly grin “Yeah? But you’ll be outnumbered” and then she yells “Sofia!”

Sofia’s head comes out of the room and sees you pinning Jal to the wall.

“Really Sireyi?” asks Sofia “Is this the right time for that?”

“But Jal-” you protest

“Isn’t the one pinning you to the wall” says Sofia, going back inside the room with an exasperated sigh.

You turn back to Jal, she gives you another grin “All’s fair” she says “Whilst you’re being Miss Pure, I’m making plans and allies – give up now and I *might* be merciful.”

You stay with Gendric long enough to work out how he’s going to pre-screen candidates for you, and for Poppy to give you a report on the church – more military than she’s used to, but otherwise fine.

Plus this guys.
>>
You teleport near the city of Falhird alone, and wander through the streets, cloaked in illusion, approaching the address given to you by Ellahi for Hanandrirac.

It is a small house in an almost deserted street. It is surrounded by a tall hedge that looks tangled and overgrown, as you walk around it you realise the hedge forms an unbroken barrier – no openings of any kind. Perhaps you’ll need to fly over.

First things first, you cast a number of spells to protect your body and mind, and then you approach.

As you wonder how to get over this hedge, a section in front of you peels back, just wide enough for you to enter. Well, that’s convenient, past the hedge is as abandoned-looking house, as you approach the door it swings open, revealing an empty corridor. As you enter, the door slams shut behind you trapping you inside.

You try the door handle, with no luck. The corridor starts to close in on you, the walls moving closer together, the part near the door is the narrowest, and as the corridor runs away from the entrance to the house it gets wide.

You hear a faint voice, whispering to you from all around “Enter” it says “come in deeper, yes, deeper, come to see me.”

What do you do?

You walk deeper into the house, some of the corridors and doors narrow, places it doesn’t want you to go, eventually you find yourself 3 floors down in the basement, underground, ugh, you hate closed-in spaces.

Eyes and mouths open in the walls, floor and ceiling all around you. They are all shapes and sizes, some are human-like, others animal or something more monstrous. Most of the eyes focus on you, though others simply wander. The eyes and mouths slide around the surfaces like shadows in firelight.

“Now” say dozens of voices, overlapping one another “Now we can talk.”

Other mouths utter obscenities and insults, whilst others chortle, some warn you to flee, and others gloat that you’ve fallen into a trap.

Throughout it all, the main voice (voices?) are louder than the commentary, but you can still hear the lesser voices.

“To what” say the mouths “Do I owe the honour, of such an esteemed visitor?”

“I want to know if I am speaking to Hanandrirac?” you ask

“Yes, Yes that is my name here, and now” say the mouths “I am Hanandrirac, the Eater of Fates.”

“I want to see the real you” you say “not this cheap show”

“My form is so unfathomable and majestic your tiny mind would collapse if you were to gaze upon me” the voices boast.

“I’ll risk it” you riposte.

For a brief moment the voices are silent, then a tiny handful of them say “In truth, I have forgotten my true form, all I have are shapes and illusions, but I suppose for you, I’ll make an effort.”

Part of the wall bulges out and separates into a humanoid form, revealing itself to be a twisted version of Sireyi – her wings are black and weep ichor, her eyes are empty bleeding sockets and her mouth is a fang-filled maw. She is wearing leather straps that appear to cover her but have obvious openings over the groin and breasts, her proportions are grossly exaggerated, her breasts seem too large for her torso and her hips are impossibly wide, her waist tiny.
Her hands end in broken claws and she smiles at you, her eyeless gaze looking in your direction.

“Am I not beautiful?” she asks.

“Oooh a twisted version of me, very original, I think I read about this trick in Demonology 101” you respond, pressing your hands to your face in mock surprise.

The voices laugh at your response “Not everyone can accept their future” they say.

“You’re going to leave Drache” you say “Forever.”

Your *twin* giggles “No” she says in a sultry voice “Not unless you meet my price” She wags a finger at you.

She smiles at you mockingly “Not interested, besides, why do I need to? I see your fate, I see what is to come: do I need to do anything? I think not.”

“A mysterious and whimsical demon who doesn’t want to bargain, I don’t believe it” you counter.

“What are you offering?” she asks

“Oh no” you say “I’m not that naive, you ask me what you want – clearly defining everything, and I’ll decide.”

“Hmm” she says, musing it over, tapping her upper lip with an index finger “I can’t take your fate, but I could trim a little from your companions.”

“What do you mean?” you ask

“I take a single day” she says “Just one day from say...five of your companions.”

“Everything else of theirs” she says “I leave untouched, except for that day, and what it brings.”

“Which day?” you ask suspiciously

“Why, the day they met you of course” she laughs

You think back, some of the days you met your allies were...eventful days.

“I’ll even sweeten the deal” she says “and tell you about your future – about say your mother, or the dragons after you, or the Lord of Life you woke up, or about Sireyi.”

That doesn’t make any sense, you are Sireyi.

“You don't stay in this place just for its own sake” you say “you know your time here is limited anyway, so what keeps you here?”

“Oh, just to meet you” she says sweetly.

What for exactly? We can overcome his resistance just fine with our normal DE, after that its all up to him anyway.
>>
>>35480571
>As before, Redeeming Touch cannot force a demon to reform: instead it has its normal effects and counters briefly a demons natural inclination towards evil and cruelty.
>Whether a demon chooses to try and reform afterwards is its own choice, but it has now literally seen through the eyes of its victims and felt their pain.

It has a chance
>>35480614
I very much disagree that it is worth the risk. I mean, its not like its a demon lord or anything we could potentially bring to our side.

In my opinion Sireyi's greatest strength and weapon has been her ability and will to make enemies into valued comrades and I believe this is no different.
>>
>>35480748
That happened once. He greatest strength is her ability to shoot lightning. It solved way more problems.

I really don't know how to feel about this. But either way, it has been a good run, guys.

And in no instance of actually making a enemy an ally did we ever use redeeming touch for that.

I'd say it's Sireyi's greatest character trait and something that makes her more special to me than anything else, but it's not a weapon, and it's not always a strength.

Wihtout the Divine Power it won't do anything. Thats literally the only thing that gives this a chance to work.
I was against using redeeming touch as a problem solver instead of a actual chance for redemption, but people want their special companions and fancy magic shit, so we might as well give it a real try.

You combine your arcane, divine and even deific powers into a single chance at redeeming this demon and you lash out with your hand, touching the wall.

The entire place convulses around you and the mouths scream out, begging forgiveness, promising retribution, or just screaming in agony.

It feels like it goes on for hours as the entire building shakes, threatening to collapse, and then at last there is silence.

And then, there is laughter.

“Ah child” croon the mouths “I have lived longer than you can imagine, I have caused untold suffering, and I regret not one moment of it. But I thank you for your gift, I now truly understand what my victims felt when I tore them apart.”

“And” the voices change to anger “Now that you just wasted your greatest weapon against me, demi-god...”

Limbs of darkness and night erupt from the walls, tangling you up in a trice, no matter how you struggle you cannot break free.

A single slender dark limb descends from the ceiling, hovering just in front of your face “Now, I give you a gift, choose your fate.” And eye opens on the tip of the limb and stares at you.

“What do you mean?” you ask

“Choose” it insists

“Choose what?” you demand

“Your fate” it says “I take 5 days, from five of your allies, or you let me into your home plane and promise never to banish me, or...” it’s voice deepens menacingly “you give me your godspark – fragile as it is, I might damage you by killing it, but if you gave it up willingly....”

>I won’t choose
>Take the 5 days
>I’ll give you access to my plane

By the way, I'll just point out that we might have safely promised the creature not to banish it, since what we really want to do is destroy it. So, taking that bargain might have been pretty acceptable, all things considered.
>>
>>35481384
Not really, we need to banish it before we can kill it, that was the entire problem with him afterall, that he was phase-shifted and couldn't be killed on this plane.
>>
You gather your remaining arcane energy and shape it into a spell, forcing Hanadrirac from this plane.

At first, nothing happens, then it’s grip on you weakens.

“No, NO!” it screams as it begins to fade, the limbs holding you grow claws and spines and attempt to rip you asunder.

Even though they leave deep gaping wounds in your flesh they are too immaterial to truly kill you.

As it fades it screams out a last threat “The Mage, the Knight and the Priest will never stand before me! I won’t allow it, I cannot die – do you hear me, Mother of my slayers?! I will strangle your children in their cribs! I know their names now – you gave them to me! Their names are as dust, the last thing they will see will be my ascension. I won’t rest until I have killed Milerna, Viviken and-” and it’s gone.

You kneel exhausted in the ruins of the house, the building collapsed around you, your wounds slowly healing.

You have a strong desire to get back as soon as you can, and hug your children.

-------------------------

And the thread ends here.

Your children are currently fine, just to be clear.

Thank you for playing, you’ve been great players - I hope you enjoyed it, and I expect to see you all next Friday.

I’ll hang around for questions for a bit.

Huh... Sucks that everyone was all "Muh Free Will in the face of Pure Good" and voted to nerfing Redeeming Touch to the point of worthlessness.

>>35481435
We'd need to banish all his pieces from all the different planes they inhabit and then track him down in hell before he can start splitting again.

>>35481190
At least this quest's playerbase tends to be good at learning from their errors.

And yeah, the new Redeeming Touch isn't supposed to be used in this way, at all, whatsoever, and the old one had problems of it's own.

>>35481454
Good, this is good.

How close were we to failing the DC to banish him?

>>35481589
I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.
>>
>>35481190

Yeah. This is why you don't treat old demon lords and dragons like Pokemon. It kinda debases the meaning of redemption and turns it into a "which wacky evil dude can I collect for my list next?" thing.
>>
>>35481679
>No choice
Hanadrirac would have killed you to try and get at the godspark, Velya would have raised you from the dead.

You would have lost the spark, but he wouldn't have got it.

>Give up Godspark
Hanandrirac becomes a god, kills you, Velya raises you.

>Access to your Plane
Hanandrirac is an ongoing antagonist, tries to kill your children regularly.

Mili, Vivi and your next 3 kids lost the day they were born. See Shrek 4. Hanandrirac isn't 100% sure who the 3rd one is because it's triplets

You needed a 12 to banish him, you got a 13 and a 15, so comfortable.

>>
>>35482099

>>
>>35482099
For symbolisms sake I want Isla to have Sireyis child too, though there is nothing to be said against Sireyi getting pregnant from all three of her wives, she can do that now afterall
>>
>>35482204
I thought there was another power we'd need to have in order for triplets to be a thing with RoAL?
>>
>>35482250
We only get "pregnant" with that power, after that biology takes over so it could be homozygote triplings.
