You’ve just reached the edge of the forest north of Camphrier town after passing through a rather sizable field of long grass. You managed to find a strange sword, and Lisa found a new monster. It’s still early in the evening, but there’s still enough time in the day to make progress in the woods before night falls. With any luck, you should reach the pass by tomorrow, and then you’ll have a clear shot to the desert.

The forest is lively, with the chirps and cries of various monsters in all directions. These woods don’t receive many travelers due to how far out of the way they are, and even the trail you’re following is overgrown. You’re safe for now, but as you get closer to the center of the forest, you’ll need to keep a close eye out.

In the meantime, you consider how to busy yourself:

>Talk to Lisa about something (specify)

You take the strange sword out of your bag and grip it in your hand. Lisa glances at you, but doesn't say anything. The sheathe seems to still be on securely, doubly so since you tied a rope to make sure it wouldn't get loose.

You test you aura vision to double check, and you still don't get a reaction from it. When it's like this, it's impossible to tell it apart from a normal sword. The jewel isn't glaring at you like an eye, and the scarf attached to the hilt is dangling loosely.

You try tapping it with your hands, shifting your grip on it while avoiding the hilt. You're not really sure how to get this thing to respond, other than the obvious method of gripping the hilt and it trying to take control of you again.

Placing it back in the bag, you decide to shift your focus to practicing aura. You realized that you usually use your aura vision while sitting or standing still, and for brief moments while in battle. Maybe it'd be good to practice using it while walking around?

You close your eyes as you focus, carefully keeping your step as you march through the forest. The undergrowth is distracting, but you try and push it out of your mind. Eventually, you start to feel the aura of your companions around you, before stumbling on a root and breaking your concentration. You try a few more times without much success. You're just finding it really hard to focus with the uneven terrain combined with the large number of auras in this forest from all the wildlife. Still, it seems promising.

Continuing along the trail, the sun begins to sink lower in the sky. You've made fair progress into the forest, but it is getting later into the evening. Suddenly though, Lisa stops you and points ahead. You squint through the trees for a moment before spotting what she was calling your attention to.

Deeper into the forest you can barely make out a woman, who seems to be dancing slowly and meticulously. She's also wearing a fairly elegant dress, which reaches down all the way to her ankles.

You strain to get a better look at her, but it's fairly difficult with all the mist in this forest.

Wait, mist?

You glance around, checking your surroundings. A thin mist seems to be slowly pervading the area, and a droplet on your arm alerts you to the fact that it's started to rain. You could have sworn the sky was clear a few minutes ago.

You and Lisa cover yourselves from the rain as much as you can, though the figure just seems to continue dancing without much of a care.

You needed to figure out how to proceed:

>Try calling out to the woman, maybe she's lost
>Try sneaking up closer, it might be a trick
>Proceed forward along the trail towards the figure, carefully
>Try and go around the figure through the woods off the trail

"Hey!" you call out, "You over there! Are you lost?"

The figure slowly stops dancing and looking in your direction. You try and move forward along the trail to get closer.

Out of the corner of your eye, you spot Lisa sneaking alongside the trail to watch your back.

As you approach, the figure seems to beckon you closer. At least you think so. It's tricky to tell when you can't see her hands very well.

As you close the distance though, you suddenly hear a loud rumbling noise, like a large thud. It doesn't seem to have come from your immediate area, but you could tell it was close.

The figure is gesturing more vigorously now, and you quicken your stride to close the gap. However, as you draw near, the figure abruptly turns and darts into the treeline.

Before you can call out again, there's another rumble, closer this time.

Thinking quickly, you focus your aura, trying to find the source of the rumbling noises.

You focus your thoughts, reaching out towards the direction of the sound. You pass over the panicked thoughts of some smaller creatures nearby, as well as a recently felled tree. You take a moment to focus on it more closely, and the base seems to have been cleanly cut in a single stroke.

A bit further, you find the source. You've seen auras like this before with some of the smaller monsters in forests, but this one feels stronger. You watch as it moves to slice another tree, dropping it with a strike from one of it's claws. You hear the rumble moments later.

Then you realize that it's heading straight towards you and Lisa.

You barely have time to draw your weapon before the insect monster comes flying out of the treeline. Lisa moves out of the way as you ready your glaive, preparing to fight.

It swings down on of its claws towards you, and you narrowly deflect it with your glaive. Unfortunately, it brings the other one about quicker than you can react. You just manage to twist aside so that you only get struck by the side of the blade, but you find yourself on the ground from the force of the swing.

>Ceil Health 8/10

Riolu and Froakie quickly spring to your aid. Riolu swiftly rushes in, using the metal on his arms to fend of the beast's blades. Froakie meanwhile takes to the trees, firing off spurts of bubbles down towards the green creature. The bubbles don't do a lot, but they manage to distract it long enough for Lisa to fire an arrow. Unfortunately, it arcs wide, piercing through a wing but nothing vital. However, it must have been rather painful, as the monster cries out in pain before dashing at Lisa.

You stand up, rushing over quickly and thrusting out with your glaive at the creature, trying to stop its charge.

You manage to catch it's downward swing just in time, but you've caught its attention once again, and this time it sweeps its other claw directly at you.

Before you're struck however, Riolu leaps up and blocks the slash with his arms, the metal preventing any cutting. However, he still gets flung backwards into a tree from the sheer force of the swing.

>Riolu HP 20/25

Lisa has managed to reposition herself while you distracted it, and Froakie has continued to rain bubbles down upon it. With it's wing injured, it can't seem to fly straight, so it instead settles for trying to cut down the trees your frog is in.

You right yourself and prepare to strike back.

You ready your glaive as you signal to Lisa and Riolu. The two of them nod, and you charge in with your glaive leveled.

It seems to sense your movement almost immediately, and brings a blade around to lock with yours, preventing you from striking it, but also tying up one of its scythes.

In the next instant, you see Lisa launch an arrow directly at the creature, though you're rather stunned to watch it perfectly deflect the arrow with its other blade.

However, while its swords were occupied, Riolu dashed behind it. Filling his palm with aura, he strikes with all his force at the leg joint of the insect. The creature screeches in pain, but you can swear you also heard the sound of its carapace cracking as well.

It goes down on one knee, and you're not sure if it can even move the leg that was just struck. Since it was on the same side as its injured wing, you don't think it can even support its weight on that side right now.

"Alright, now calm down, maybe we can-" you start, before jumping back to avoid getting cut. It cries at you once again, but it's in no shape to be moving with that leg.

You try using aura instead. Maybe you can somehow use it to communicate your feelings better. You reach out to it, trying to convey your feelings to it.

As soon as you sense it within your aura, you flinch. It's much harsher than it was before, not the softly glowing outline you usually see. It's almost jagged in it's appearance. You try to send your emotions as best as you can from this distance, but you can almost physically feel it lash out at them with rage and spite. You keep it up for a minute or so, but all you really manage to deduce is that you interrupted its training by wandering through his territory.

You don't get the feeling you'll be able to convince this thing.

You focus in once more, to communicate the idea that the creature would be better off if it trained with a group rather than by itself. You feel a slight pause before it returns to its anger.

You fish out an Oran berry from your pack, tossing it to the creature. It reacts by impaling it on one of its blades, before examining what it was. It glares at you intently while holding the berry close. After waiting a brief moment, its clear that it wants it, but you don't think it wants the shame of eating it while you're still there.

Gathering up your companions, you move down the trail away from the creature, which slowly follows you with its eyes.

You continue to the point where you saw the woman, and don't see any signs of her presence. In fact, you don't even see any footprints, despite the rather muddy ground due to the rainfall.

You begin your trek through the undergrowth, using your glaive to clear away some of the thicker shrubs. It works surprisingly well, though being on the end of a pole makes it a bit tricky to use for this purpose. The rain stops while you're making your journey, which makes it a bit easier to see, though the mist still seems to linger.

After climbing over a rise, you spot a familiar figure in the distance. The woman is standing in the center of a clearing with a rather large puddle. She's dancing again, but this isn't the slow methodical waltz like you saw before. This seems to instead be a quick repetition of arm movements, with the occasional step in between.

Her movement is the only disturbance in the water's surface, though it seems she has noticed you once again. She waves you in her direction once more, moving towards the far edge of the clearing.

You close your eyes and focus your aura, just to double check that nothing strange is going on.

The result is rather staggering. Thee woman you've been following has an aura you recognize, but the other is rather unfamiliar. There's the same sense of clarity from the crystal you saw in Anistar, but paired with it is a strange sense of joy and wonder that you can't quite place. You feel like you've seen it before, but the problem is that this combination of auras is also rather powerful. You've never seen this much aura coming off of a normal person, but then again you've also never seen a monster that wears a dress.

Still, you don't sense any hostile intent, so you carefully proceed towards the figure. As soon as you reach the puddle, you realize that it's much deeper than you thought, almost down to a foot in some places. Fortunately your boots were preventing you from getting any more soaked than you already were.

After watching you wade through the pond, Lisa instead decides to circle it from the outside, though makes sure to stay even with you as you cross.

Once the two of you reach the other edge, you get a better look at the figure.

It's not human, but you can tell why you made the mistake. It vaguely resembles one, though it's facial features seem a bit off. In fact, a lot of it just feels subtly off, as though you were looking at a simplified drawing of a person by someone who had it described to them. What really throws you off is the large red protrusion jutting through it's chest.

You attempt to think of what to do next as the figure glides slowly over to you. You get a sudden sense of calm for a moment, similar to what you get when sensing auras but this is, different. It's more deliberate and calculated.

Abruptly, there's a rather bright flash of light, and you feel a rush of air pass by while you are unable to see.

When you open your eyes, you find the figure standing rather closely to you, staring at you intently with its unearthly eyes. It's still radiating that feeling of calm, though now it's mixed with something else. Confusion maybe?

You back away as you take in your surroundings. You seem to be where you just were, next to the clearing. Although something seems different. The pond's surface is rippling much more than before, and you watch as a fish leaps out of the water. The pond seems to have become a small lake now.

Glancing around elsewhere, you see Lisa rubbing her eyes to make sure she isn't dreaming. In the opposite direction of the lake, it seems there's another clearing that wasn't there before. This one is much smaller, though it has a rather stunning looking white tree as it's centerpiece, though oddly it doesn't have any leaves.

The 'woman', strides over towards the tree. Rather, you watch her step with one pointed leg, as the other one gently floats above the ground.

You watch as she sits down next to the tree, resting herself on the ground. She gingerly places one of her hands on her knee as the other pokes at a spot on her back. Perhaps she injured herself earlier?

Around the glade you spy a few more creatures similar to this one, with pale white skin and green hair, though the others are all much shorter. Most of them distance themselves from you, though a few of the smallest go up to the one you met and sit down with her.

"Ceil," Lisa begins, "What's going on?"

"But I intend to find out." You finish, walking over to the strange figure.

"Who are you? Why did you lead us here?" you begin.

The figure glances up at you, and you suddenly feel a rush of emotions. Calmness, clarity, quiet. Then comes concern, pain, more pain, then peace. The figure gets a puzzled look on its face for a moment more, before you feel a repetition of hate and pain three times. The last two are fairly weak, though you think she was trying to convey something more complex than a simple emotion with that.

"What is this place? How did we get here?"

The next emotion is easy to understand. It's comfort and safety, meaning this is probably their home. What comes next you're not fully prepared for. Its a sudden feeling as though you just stayed up all night reading ten books, and it gives you a very immediate headache. You clutch your head from the sudden sensation and you notice all the creatures wince and do the same. However it got you here, you don't think it can explain it in simple terms.

"What happens next? Are we still in the forest?"

Peace, calm, and comfort once more, followed by something else. Recognition maybe? The figure does point an arm in two directions. One is the way you came from, the other is deeper into the forest. At the very least it seems you'll be able to leave. It's almost nightfall by this point.

"Are you scared of that scythe monster? Do you hate him for some reason."

The creature tilts her head. It seems like she's also having some trouble understanding you.

Soon enough you get your answer. The first feeling is almost like when you say something wrong and get called out on it. The next emotion is a mixture of peace and loneliness.

The figure shakes her head. You guess she's having trouble conveying this properly. Then, she lifts her head up, and gently floats into a standing position.

She points fist to a spot on her lower back, then sends you the emotion for pain. She does the same thing again with the back of her knee. She then makes some quick chopping motions with her arms, points to you, then points to her back and knee again.

The idea strikes you to try and communicate with aura. You close your eyes and focus, then reach out and take the figure's hand. It's a strange texture, almost like a silk cloth. You feel the aura connection stabilize, and you reiterate your questions as best you can. As you do, it all clicks into place. It seems that she and the others here feel the emotions of other creatures, including pain. Which means that when Lisa shot that bug's wing earlier and Riolu injured its leg...

The figure places its other hand around yours and sends soothing emotions once again, of how she and her family live by this white tree. She protects them by making sure no pain happens too close to it, which usually means keeping other creatures away.

You open your eyes once again to see that the sun is slowly setting over the horizon. Lisa is already unpacking the meager camping supplies you two have. You turn to ask the figure if you can stay the night, though she sends the feeling of comfort once more.

"Is there anything I can do to help?"

She places her hands on yours again, then tilts her head, sending the emotion of confusion. It seems she doesn't fully understand how your aura abilities work. Closing your eyes and focusing once more, you ask again.

You get images of your glaive, as well as Lisa's arrows. Then, the images slowly fade away to nothing, replaced slowly by just a feeling of peace and a tranquil image of the grove. You and Lisa then fade into view as well, and then there's another emotion of comfort. Is she asking the two of you to stay?

Another set of images starts, being the two of you, then a treeline that you don't recognize. The edge of the forest maybe?

You try and ask what she means, and then a third image starts, being you and Lisa in the grove with your weapons. Then a large formless monster appears, and the two of you strike at it. It fades as you do, but afterwards you just see images of her and her family writhing on the ground, and several needles of pain dart through your hand.

She then pulls her hands away. It seems there isn't much of a way you can help with your skill set.

You focus in with aura once more, making the offer to use your abilities to heal her.

You get a negative answer. She ponders for a moment how to best explain it, but she flashes up an image of a rock and blood, then the image of a cloud while sending you a small tingle of pain. It seems this isn't a physical injury, just a sort of shared feeling.

You ask if healing scyther would help, and she also gives a negative, flashing the image of dozens upon dozens of rows of trees. You guess that means he's too far away for her pain to affect her anymore. She also sends you a calming effect, then a brief bit of pain that lingers. Then, she sends you an image of the sun passing through the sky, and slowly the pain in your hand fades. Finally, she ends with a feeling of safety and well-being before pulling her hands back.

You look up into the sky, and it seems the sun set while the two of you were 'talking'. You look over to see that Lisa has already finished setting up the camping gear, even laying out your bedroll for you. She's currently sitting on the ground staring at you and the figure. There are also a handful of the smaller creatures next to her also sitting and staring, although it's hard to tell with their hair covering their faces like that.

With most of your questions out of the way, you decide to go ahead and get some rest. You and Lisa lie down in your respective bedrolls, while the figure and all of the littler ones pile up next to the white tree.

You soon drift off to sleep, though in the middle of the night, you could almost swear that someone lied down and nuzzled up beside you.

thanks for running

You guys were on the mark as to what she was worried about, but a bit off on the reasoning. To be fair though, that wasn't exactly easy to guess.

As for who is cuddling you, it's a surprise.

But now I'm too excited to wait a year for the next thread to find out.

Did you know there's another Medieval Pokemon thread? I wonder if a Crossover would be Possible, though Ciel is totally more awesome.

I saw that. It's one of the other reasons this break was so long. That and a few other job related reasons, but I'm really starting to remember how much I enjoyed this.

Stupid sexy Scyther.

Will Honedge try to kill us every time we use it? I kind of have half a mind to turn around and go back to the Ghost Ladies.

Oh hey! We seem to have attracted a wild drawfag.
This means that Medievalmon Quest is totally legit now.
>>
>>35600811
It is possible for you guys to use it, but right now I'm just giving you guys the information Ceil has, which isn't much.

>>35600835
Cool! You get a gold star. I don't really have anything more substantial.

Someone should start a journal based on all the pokemon he's met so other people have information when they need it.

Some sort of Pokemon Encyclopedia.

If your still here, I've been following your threads. >>35600658 mentioned a crossover, which could be interesting. Let me know if you want to do it, I'll post the email I've been using for my quest
>>
>>35601150
I'm not sure honestly. I remember looking at one of your threads once, but honestly I skipped over it.

I'd want to give it a read first before I decided.

Okay, let me know if you want to. I run every Saturday, if you want to play
