As we exit the forest and the sun hangs low in the sky, I suggest we head to the ruined housing district.

The train drops us off a few minutes ride from my place, and we set off as the sun sets, putting a slight chill in the air. Mia shivers, and offers to zip me into her oversized jacket with her, which I gladly accept, piggybacking her inside it, wrapped in the downy lining.

The place is scarred by the wreckage of a thousand battles, giant footprints belonging to various beasts and robots and what have you, scorch marks and acid marks and chunks of rubble pock the streets.

We cut acroos a flattened lot, picking our way through shattered brick and mortar. Eventually we do come across a few houses that are mostly intact, if stripped bare for almost everything but bedframes, some of them still have running water and electricity even. Thanks lazy council workers.

We keep walking, just in case and come across a local shop, stripped bare and looted, it stands quiet in the night, but it does have trolleys, which I can already see Claire trying to use as an impromptu joust.
