A tribe of scalefolk in the wet jungles, you are a splinter tribe, having just been exiled from a much larger clan the same biome. Having fled much deeper into the jungle, your tribe quickly constructs a makeshift village on the flowing river upon which your folk now subsides.

Your tribe currently contains thirty males and fifteen females. Your tribe's village contains enough housing for everyone to exist sub-comfortably to civilized standards, though for your tribe the living conditions are stock. Your current food stocks will last you one week without hunting, and you are armed with makeshift spears and nets from the area around you. Your warriors are currently unarmored.

In your short-lived nomadic lives, you caught sight of two types of tribes relatively close to your current location. A tribe of giants roughly two days to your northeast, and a tribe of harpies two days to your southeast.

Following the christening of the new village in the blood of a dead crocodile, Quillock sends his people into the jungle to begin collecting materials. A skeleton guard is left on the village as the females scour the surrounding area and the rest of the males swim northeast to begin harvesting fallen lumber, as they do not have the tools to effectively fell the trees of the jungle.

After a day of work, the tribe has collected a rather mediocre pile of wood, enough for one den perhaps, though in the process they did find enough sinew and other materials to craft two more nets! The females did much better in finding seeds in the area around the village. This close to the river, many useful herbs and tubers grow plentiful, the females harvested both. The tribe convenes in the evening, and then sleeps.

The night is uneventful, and a new day rises on our infant tribe.

Quillock is a mighty warrior from the previous clan. Before being exiled, he was being considered for the position of High Warrior within the clan. However, his ambitions proved to be his undoing. He challenged the Clanmaster to single combat, knowing that he was the stronger of arm and of mind, but through fluke or stroke of luck, the clanmaster laid him low. His followers and he were exiled form the clan thusly, a gift from a beneficent Clanmaster, as otherwise you would all have been executed.

Quillock is a charismatic warleader with iron weaponry. Though your tribe does not have any knowledge of the creation of iron weaponry, nor armor, Quillock possesses a great trident, to which he uses to great effect in and out of water. He is nearly unmatched in combat, especially when he has the first blow.

Your tribe spends the day crafting crude stone tools from the surrounding and gathered materials. After many failed attempts, and the consumption of all of your wood, you finally create seven crude axes. Night falls, this time it is not so peaceful, and the sentries are plagued by nocturnal creatures throughout the night. Though thankfully, no one is injured.

A new day rises! What will the tribe do?

The tribe is split into two main parties. The first is sent with five axes to begin harvesting some medium sized trees, and another is sent with two axes and the other primitive tools to search for anything of interest.

The first group finds a number of smaller trees easily felled, and along with their new tools and greater numbers, the females bolstering their numbers, the bring back twice as much lumber as before. Enough for two primitive huts or one decent hut, suitable for a chieftain and one or two others.

The other group explores to the north, where the are attacked! It appears that a rogue band of lizardfolk have taken residence here! They outnumber your scouting party, but do not have anything more than sharpened spears and javelins. The two parties battle it out, fighting tooth, claw, and tail to find victory and survival, and your party succeeds! But only just. Two males are dead, and three more are injured. The rest bring the corpses back, along with part of the supplies that the enemy had.

With the sentries' report in mind, Quillock sets about directing the tribe in building a makeshift palisade. Though the majority of the tribe is unfamiliar with harpies, Quillock has fought them before. Though the palisade will only ward off ground attacks, it gives the lizardfolk cover to launch attacks at range. Also, it blocks angles at which harpies can dive to attack.

The effort goes throughout the day, and the foundation of the palisade seems to be finished. It seems that it will take another day or two to finish the palisade It rings the outside of the homes, breaking at the northeast and south for the river.

While the majority of the tribe is building, Quillock personally spends the day training the three most promising tribesmen in javelin throwing. His martial prowess seems to rub off on them, and by evening they are proficient with the simple weapons.

The Mossteeth spend the day raising the palisade and gathering materials to latch in together and fortify it. Mosses, ground, sinew, vines, more lumber, etc. This takes the full day, during which a second tribesman recovers and begins to aid the tribe, but by the end of it the village looks and feels much safer.

The palisade is seven feet tall around, and has four entrances, two on land, two by river. The river entrances are on the northeast and south, while the land entrances are to the west and southeast.

The night is once again loud with the shrieks of harpies, though the sentries find that having a wall to defend makes things a bit less stressful.

This day the males are sent out to harvest vines, while the females use the harvested materials to begin weaving the web of vines above the lizardfolk encampment. Getting the vines across the river is quite difficult, though the lithe and agile lizardfolk women do it well enough. After a day's worth of work, the tribe has gathered and used a veritable mountain of vines and other miscellaneous materials to create the beginning of the net.

In the night, the sentries hear the screeching once more, now used to the sound of the harassing harpies. However, it seems that one gets too zealous and catches in one of the vines in the half made net! She tumbles out of the air and into the river. The sentries quickly subdue the downed harpy and restrain her. Quillock is contacted and the harpy brought before him.

Quillock brings the trident to the harpy's throught. "So, winged devil. Let us skip the insults and move to what really matters. You and your... sisters, have been harassing our camp for some time now. You will tell me why."

With the trident poised at her throat, the feathered half-woman is visibly frightened. "W-we were just playing with the lizards! No harm! Just fun!" She smiles scaredly.

Quillock proceeds to shove the trident into her right leg.

The interrogation went rather quickly after that. The harpy's are amassing a strike against the Mosstooth. Every other night fliers would harass them to keep them scared and on guard, until finally the tribe of harpies descends upon them, all fifty harpies, lead by their queen. This attack is poised to be made in five days time, until then, the harassment is to cease until the attack. Upon the dawn's break, the harpy's body is seen, wrapped to one of the larger trees next to the camp, pinned with multiple of the makeshift spears.

The dawn breaks on a new day!

After a day's work, adding more vines to the net would make it too heavy to be safe, and without daylight harpies would find it impossible to navigate. I would say building traps is quicker than actually being proficient in net combat. Orcs must die has taught me I don't need to be that good at actual combat iffy traps are good enough. It helps though. I like the idea but if push comes to shove I say layers of nets in trees. If the feathered fapbait wants to do a ground assault, by all means.

Quillock sets the tribe to making javelins similar to those looted from the enemy lizardfolk's camp. This task is set to with gusto, if with a bit of ineptitude. The tribe seems to have a bit of a hard time perfecting the weight and balance of the javelins, but be it as it may, at the end of the day have produced eleven fair quality javelins.
(82)
During he day, Quillox is approached by Chakax and a two of his fellows. They propose an idea toward a new type of weapon that could launch javelins with much greater force and punching potential than a hand thrown one. Quillox ponders this for a moment and then tells them to begin the perfection of this weapon.

Over the day, the three lizardfolk make quite a bit of progress on their idea. It's a simple one, and one they had pondered for quite some time, so it is nearly finished.

Gain: 11 Javelins
Atlatl (80%)

Food (7) Harpies (3)

The night passes, again without bother, the sentries are slightly perturbed by the tranquility this far into the jungle.

The tribe continues their activities from the previous day. After yesterday it seems production has picked up, over the day 16 javelins are made. Also, over the production, it seems that the tribe has become rather proficient with their use.

The Atlatl progress is finished, and the three lizardfolk have a working prototype. After a day's worth of testing, they deliver upon their idea with the design. Its much more effective, though much harder to use without proper training.

The Mosstooth continue to focus their efforts and churn out eight Atlatls. Immediately after their creation, the rest of the tribe sets about practicing with the tools. Roughly four can now use them proficiently enough to reliably hit flying targets.

> Hide most of our warriors, including the atlatl users, in the undergrowth surrounding the village. Leave 15 of our people in the town to act as bait. As the harpies start attacking the town, likely concentrating.on getting through the nets, our javeliniers let loose. Those under the net will attack any harpies that get tangled up.
>>
After the attack we should focus on infrastructure and a stable food source. Perhaps a fish trap.

Also, OP, I suggest Hexographer for maps. The trial version has no time limit and is more than enough for this. Just screencap sections you want.
>>
>>36124715
thats still a horrible idea.
Why would you use the women in your family as decoys?
No.
You would use the ones that could defend themselves to a better degree, and have a good chance of being decoys and not live bait.
any way my point is. You're retarded, leave.
>>
>>36124775
Fuck off. At least that anon suggested something.

The tribe feasts! The laughter and mirth lasts late into the evening, before everyone retires to ready for battle in the morn. The night is long for the sentries, the waning crescent moon not shedding much light on their vigil.

The day comes, and the tribe prepared. 53 strong lizardfolk again 50 harpies. You hear their shrieks long before their forms appear over the jungle's canopy.

What is the plan?

>Straight up Fight! Let them come!

>>
>>36124985
Hidden yet deadly leaves no one visible, bait and switch does. That's the only difference.
>>
>>36124962
unless, we're going to be chaining them up( with what vines?) to tree's?
We can't be taking slaves as they will just fly away. after they get something to cut through the vines if they can't just do that with thier nails.
killing them out right may be our best option.
>>
>>36124941
Bait and switch then.
>>
>Bait and Switch
>>
>>36125031
I can see that but I say we attempt first. I guarantee you some of those harpies will be willing to cut a deal. As well as they didnt bring all their young with them. We keep some alive to lead us to their den and we bring back the young uns. They provoked the fight so as long as we dont go too extreme after a period of time some of them may very well just settle down.

And besides I want to know what they know about the surrounding area.
>>
I say we just murder them. They'd be too hard to keep as slaves. I guess we could cut their wings off but I doubt they'd be too co-operative after that.

The tribe gets into place, and it seems not a moment too soon. I'm mostly just rolling from memory, no charts. The death rolls generally were me checking numbers in my head and fitting them to the level of success and circumstance. Example being the volley of 20 javelins hitting the harpies caught up in the net. 1d20+10 results in 20.5 on average, and I was assuming that the inner group was cutting down any who fell in that as well. The system of 3d100, beat each other is something I came up with on the fly to match the rules in the picture. Sorry bud.
