>somehow still alive

"Leaving is actually a lot easier than entering is. Though I suppose not so much for you." Lisa lets out a light chuckle. Your accidental and unaware entry into what is apparently a localized blatant breach of the laws of reality, known simply as the Lolizone, still does not fail to amuse her. "So getting past Christmas Tree Island is actually surprisingly logical. All you have to do is what you normally do with christmas trees. Just put a present under it! Though of course, it has to be something that's very valuable to you."

"So essentially, it wants a sacrifice?" You interpret. Lisa nods at this. "Pretty much. Just don't call it that or it might not count. Probably. We don't really know how it thinks. Anyway, you do have the treasure stashed away back there, so it's a pretty easy choice."

At the other end of the table Nadine jumps into movement, raising her arms in protest with her shouts. "No! We can't give that up!" You're not sure if it's Nadine's fondness for chocolate speaking or her desire to prove her reliability to you by protecting it, but the other girls nod along anyway. Nadine continues. "We just have to think of something else. Like..." Her arm reaches out to point a finger at Camilla. "The hat! You've been fighting over that hat so much! It would count!"

Camilla takes her turn to snap back at Nadine with a growl. "You're only saying that because you hate me! Maybe we should just give YOU to the island, jerk!" The two quickly descend into yet another shouting match. You pay it little heed however as Nina gets out of her seat and walks up to you, the blue plushy elephant that had been causing you more than a bit of trouble just yesterday held tightly in her arms. The one you gave her years ago which she had kept all that time. She releases it from her embrace and holds it to you. "This would count, right Nee-chan?

You are the Loli Talker, aka Nee-chan, a specialist dealing in bringing unreasonable lolis to reason. Currently you are on a very peculiar job, having been hired for unclear reasons by some eccentric fat cat with more money than he knows what to do with to guide a ship across the Pacific from the United States to Japan aided only by a tiny crew of equally small girls. Most recently you caught Nadine, the eternal good girl who had seemed to want nothing more than your approval, stealing chocolate from the hard earned treasure stored in the storeroom of the ship.

Now, you face the decision of what to surrender in order to continue your journey. The chocolate treasure carries great value to all the girls. Camilla's hat is very important to her and, for reasons you can't quite explain, you as well. Finally, the plushy has immense value to your sister. Either should work, though there may be yet other options you have not considered. Either way, you will have to make a decision as captain.

You're literally being that jerk who gives someone a half-eaten box of chocolates.

Not saying it won't work, but you are.
>>

But...

My God, it's true. We are monsters.
>>

>>

>>36184211
Maybe we take the chocolate out and put some farewell and "thank you" letters in it? Maybe the maps too. Like a memory chest.
>>
>>36184509
We should probably leave most of the chocolate in, I think we might still need the maps.
>>
>>36183933
It seems whatever choice you make, someone isn't going to like it. But that's clearly the point, this entire island is just a cheap gimmick that even the worst B-movie wouldn't resort to. Honestly, who even comes up with that? But it seems you'll have to play along if you want to get anywhere at all.

You take a moment to go over the options in your head. On one hand, you specifically promised to not let Camilla keep her hat and if you broke that promise you would ruin the only really positive interaction you've had her with her. Your sister is willingly offering to give away the plushy despite its apparent significance to her. You, however, could you really take it and all it represents and throw it away. You're not sure you could.

The chocolates however, have caused you no end of trouble simply by being present. The girls would miss it, sure, but it's nothing they can't get over. A thought strikes you. You could just keep some of it, surely it wouldn't make a difference. There's loads, and the treasure was never really intact to begin with. It IS cheating and something you probably shouldn't be teaching the girls, but they'd be happier for it.

Or, the thought strikes you just before you were going to speak, you could try something completely else. You're not sure if the island is philosophical but there is one other thing that is immensely valuable to you, more so than any other ideas presented. Memories! And what better representation of that than pictures? You could simply take a lot of pictures on your phone, then give that up. Nobody gets hurt. Well you might miss that phone slightly when you're back in civilized lands but you can always get another.

>Give up the entire treasure?

I did my own interpretation of the memory chest because QM privilege.

I would like the memory chest idea, if it wren't for the magical nature of this place and the very real possibility it might actually make us lose our memories.

>I would like the memory chest idea, if it wren't for the magical nature of this place and the very real possibility it might actually make us lose our memories.

Jesus christ anon, that's a little harsh. I mean sure, I'm going to up the stakes far, far, FAR, past that eventually, but...
>>
>>36184858
Seconding this, everyone gets 1 coin and the rest goes as sacrifice.
>>
On second thought, maybe that's a terrible idea. You can't risk being stuck here just because you wanted to try to be clever. And, it occurs to you, the island may just be magical enough to make reality of your metaphorical gesture. You definitely don't want that! It will have to be the treasure. You give Nina a light pat on the head as you walk past her and announce your decision. "Lisa, help me get the treasure back on the deck!"

Silence falls over the room like an oversized curtain. Lisa quickly follows in your steps, the both of you leaving behind the group of shocked girls muttering quietly about unfairness. With Lisa's help it only takes a few minutes to carry the treasure back up. Standing at the railing, you're suddenly unsure of just how to deliver the present. You request Lisa's advice once more. "So do we have to actually place it under that tree on the island or can we just drop it off the side?"

She shrugs. "It's really more about the thought. Dropping it off the side works. But if we're doing that you'll have to actually lift the damn thing this time." She winks with a satisfied grin. You disregard the jab, your attention being caught by the girls still on the bridge with despaired faces plastered against the window watching you. You lift off the lid of the chest just slightly, picking out exactly six coins and stuffing them in your pocket before slamming the chest shut again. You grab hold of the sides of the chest, and Lisa does the same.

You do not fail to notice the loud whimpering as the two of you place the chest atop the railing. A light push and the chest tips over the edge accompanied by ear-piercing shrieks. Finding its place on the wet sands of the island below, the chest lands with an unceremonious thump. And then nothing.

You glance over to Lisa who has joined you in looking over the railing. "Well?" You ask her impatiently. She shushes you harshly. "Wait for it!" Several long moments pass before suddenly the island begins to quake, then sinks into the ocean in a matter of seconds along with the offering. The way is clear. "See? No problem at all! Lisa chirps beside you.

The broken faces in the window staring at the spot the island had just occupied don't seem to agree. You were intending to give everyone a single coin of the ones you picked out and that should certainly lift their spirits a little. Of course you could also just tell them they can have the chocolate when you arrive at your destination to keep them motivated.

You can't help being just a little amused at the girls looking so miserable over such a tiny thing. It's not like they'll even remember tomorrow! Or maybe in just a few moments you think as you stick a hand in your pocket to check that the chocolates are still there. You give the girls your biggest smile, prompting their frowns to turn into looks of confusion as you make your way back inside.

You pull four of the coins you stashed, waving them teasingly in the air. "You girls really should trust your nee-chan more, you know." You gloat while you watch them jumping in the air before you, trying to reach the treats you're holding just out of their reach. "I'll let you have one each. Just one, then it's over!" With a flick of your wrist you send the coins flying through the air, each landing in the hands of one of the eager girls. "So you have to decide if you want to eat them now or keep them for l-" You stop as you realise the end of that sentence has already become pointless.

You shrug, pulling out the fourth coin and tossing it to Lisa, an act the girls follow very closely. Lisa quickly stuffs the coin inside the deep pockets of her jacket, smiling slyly at the turned heads. You clear your throat to direct the attention back to yourself and pull out the last two. "This one is for May, of course. And the last one is mine. But maybe, just maybe, one of you will deserve it more? I just want to make it the destination, you know."
>>
>>36186471
The hint does not pass over their heads, and the girls quickly head off to their respective stations on the ship, Nadine jumping back to the controls, Camilla rushing back to the engine room and Nina... doesn't actually have anywhere to be but she seems to have been caught up in the moment regardless. Glancing over to Lisa she seems to be wondering the same before simply shrugging and walking off as well.

You have no idea how far you are from your destination, but at least you're headed there now. Which leaves you unoccupied once more. You should find something to do to pass the time.

You decide to leave Nadine to her business, instead prioritising your wounded girl. You almost lost her, so you should make sure she's recovering instead of getting herself in more trouble. You don't even want to imagine Andrea's silent disappointment if she learned you let one of your girls almost die on your watch!

The ship rocks slightly on your way down below decks as the engine begins to kick in. Judging from the movements, Nadine and Camilla are giving it an extra push compared to earlier. Turning the corner to the kitchen area you stop on the spot as you notice loud chatter coming from the bunks. May and... Nina? That's where she went to?

Well, taking care of May does count as helping too, you suppose. At least you know May has woken up and hasn't wandered off unattended yet. Still, you can't help but wonder what they're talking about in there. Judging from the tone and volume, they're definitely excited aboutsomething. There's really nothing stopping you from engaging in a little eavesdropping. so why not find out what they're talking about in there?

>Sate your curiosity, listen in?

You drop against the wall and quickly creep up to the door to miss as little as possible. Between their chatter, they're not likely to hear your approach regardless. From the door, you can clearly overhear their conversation without any problems. Nina speaks with heavy excitement in her voice

"But you were just so cool! And really brave!" May stutters slightly in her response. "Ahah, you're embarrassing me! It was nothing!"
"No, it was really brave! Nobody else would just jump in like that!"
A moment of silence passes as May doesn't respond, at least not with words.
"Well yeah, but Nee-chan doesn't count!"
"Why not?"
"Because she's already my Nee-chan, duh!"
"So she can't be your..."
"No! Of course not! But you can! So do you want to?"
You hear May giggling slightly before responding. "Okay!"
Nina's answer is nothing more than a squeal of glee, followed by more nervous giggles from May.

You're still not sure what they were talking about, but it seems May is doing fine and she's not alone so you don't really need to barge in and check on her if you'd rather head back upstairs to make sure Nadine is on the right course.

Remembering the chocolate you were supposed to give May, you knock lightly the open door, a high pitched "eep!" sounding from inside. Entering the room you find may sitting upright in her bed and blushing profusely. Nina is sitting at the opposite end, greeting you with a beaming smile on her face. "Hia Nee-chan! Did you come to see May too? We're bestest friends now!" May blushes even harder at that. Weird, she never really seemed shy at all. Is she not used to having friends? Either way, you can't help grinning at the awkward scene and the contrast between the two.

"Actually," You say as you pull out the coin from your pocket. "I came to give May her share of the chocolate. How are you feeling, May?" You hand the coin to Nina who quickly passes it to May. Her blushing seems to recede with the change of topic and she gives you her usual smile. "I'm fine! Perfectly fine! Can I get out of bed yet?"

You shake your head. "I want to be sure you recover fully so you don't get worse!" She sighs and you turn to Nina instead. "Do me a favor and make sure she doesn't go anywhere, okay? She needs to stay in bed!" Nina nods excitedly, then turns her attention back to May. "I know a game we can play!"

Confident that May is in good hands, you leave the two alone again and head back above deck to be greeted by a Nadine slamming violently into on the stairs. Regaining her composure, she salutes you as always. "Captain Nee-chan! I came to tell you that we're almost at the destination!" She points out to the sea while handing you a pair of binoculars. "You can see it now!" Sure enough, you see the destination, a small discreet fishing town with a distinct Japanese architecture.

But wait, that doesn't make sense. You may not be a master of geography but you're pretty sure the trip should have taken at least a week, with your speed probably two! How can you be here after just one day?

"Nadine, we've only been sailing for a day and most of the time we haven't even been moving. So how can we be here already?" Nadine pulls out the same map she showed you at the beginning of the journey and holds it up for you. "Because we followed my course!"

You sigh. "But Nadine, it's a really long way. Thousands of miles! It should take much longer!" She turns the map in her hands back around to inspect it more closely, spinning it around several times in the process. "I guess maybe it's because of that weird thing Lisa was saying? I dunno! It's a REALLY good course, though."

Looks like that's the best you're going to get from Nadine. She looks up to you expectingly and you remember that she's supposed to be proving to you that she's still a good girl. You ruffle her hair gently and send her back to her station.

About half an hour later and you're pulling in to the docks, something Nadine also seems to handle without too much issue. The town itself appears to be quiet and almost idyllic. Precious few men are wandering the docks and only a small handful of fishing boats are docked. There appears to be absolutely nothing of note here. The only thing that really stands out is the man waiting at the dock, dressed in a fancy suit and holding a stopwatch in one hand.

As Nadine lines the ship up next to the pier Lisa grabs a long rope and jumps up on the pier to begin tying the rope to a pillar. A few moments later the ship is safely secured and you step off as well. The man in the suit steps up to you and addresses you in perfect English. "Miss Loli Talker, I assume? Congratulations on a job very well done, 26 hours is a very impressive time. On behalf of my clie-"

Apparently this man represents the guy with the money. That means he's important. But then, if Andrea is calling that's probably important too. Though you've never used it, you recall being taugh an ancient technique called Politeness. "Please excuse me a moment, sir, this call may be very important." The man nods with a smile that may very well not be faked. "Go ahead, Miss." You step aside and answer the still ringing phone.

"It's happening. Four minutes thirty-seven. Hurry." And she hung up.

Shit. You need to make sure someone takes the girls to safety, you need to get your things, and you should probably get out of the way too to make sure nobody gets dragged along when it happens. Urgh, you were supposed to beat her to this so you could pick the time for this to come down. But it's too late to worry about that. It's happening now and you need to get ready.

"Lisa!" You call out, forgetting that she was just a few steps behind you. "Can you make sure the girls get to safety for me?" Confused, she stares at you with raised eyebrows. "Uh, sure but why are you ask-" She doesn't a chance to finish as you into a sprint past the equally confused suit. Remembering the chocolate coin still in your pocket you grab it out of your pocket and quickly throw it back to Lisa. "And give that to Nadine!"

Past the docks the town appears to get much more lively, definitely not the way you want to go. Instead you pick a nearby building that appears to be abandoned. You'll just have to hope there are no squatters inside. Jumping through a smashed in window you give the room a quick scan and locate a set of stairs leading down. Down is good, further out of the way.

The basement of the building turns out to be littered with old blankets, cardboard boxes, and rats. The stench here is unbearable, a mixture of sweat and waste. Seems it is indeed home to someone though they are not currently present. It will do. You're already running out of time, and just as it has before your world begins to spin. But this time is different. You feel a distinct tugging at your chest, just like that one night it all started.
>>
>>36191764
A single bright flash of pink and your world shatters into tiny pieces, again and again until there are no pieces left and all you see has been replaced with the other place. The place that you have seen glimpses of but never truly visited. Until now.

You appear to have arrived at the top of a small hill at night time. Before you stretches a city of unfamiliar architecture, pink and other bright colors painted everywhere in chaotic patterns. The lights in the houses are all out and the streets are empty, at least for now. Past the city, a large pink castle exactly like you imagined they looked in fairy tales. Behind you and circling all around the city lies a forest that appears to be sparkling, rays of pink light emanating from the trees to light up the darkness around you as well as bathing the area with a mild scent of cinnamon.

This is the world she built for you.

And that's it for episode 2! The ending turned out more than a little clumsy I think. That's really my fault for always trying to run when I'm tired, but I just didn't want you guys to keep waiting all the time!

Oh, and I am strongly considering changing my usual run times to move it forward a few hours. That should make it easier for me to run without exhausting myself so I hope I have players that early. Otherwise I'll move back to the usual time.

I hope you've enjoyed the trip so far, because this is the part where things get weird. I'll probably need a while to get ready, but I hope you'll join me next time for Episode 3 "Hide and Seek."

Don't worry, as long as you don't lose you will get to see your lolis again.
