Jaken races forward without warning, belting out a loud howl as he races forward, grabbing the blade from Kujo. The poor imp doesn’t make it far however and finds himself overwhelmed by the blades strange defensive mechanisms near instantaneously and he collapses to the floor.

Inuyasha sighs before strolling over to the downed imp and lifts him by the collar of his coat in one hand and grasps the hilt of the sword with his other, but recoils before he reaches for it again, grasping it firmly in his hand.

“It, didn’t burn you?” You ask

“No… not even a little… If I can hold it now, why couldn’t I pull it out before? What gives ya parasite?”

“Master Inuyasha, perhaps we should leave…”

Sure enough, the portal, as best you could call it, seems to be closing and the three of you promptly jump through, arriving at the old shack in the same place a little after dusk.

“Huh, I guess time moves quicker there?” The half demon muses as he drops the still unconscious Jaken.

Feeling nervous about leaving Yura alone, you enter the swordmasters home… and see that Sesshomaru Is nowhere to be found, nor is Yura.

“Yura?” you call out, venturing further into the home, hoping that she was hiding somewhere in the barren room. Your eyes yield nothing however other than a few strands of white hair were Sesshomaru had been laid out.

In the background you can hear Jaken waking up and sobbing as he runs off, but you ignore them and continue looking around. The old man seems to have also left and the forge has since gone cold. On the ground you see a few splotches of mud and dirt leading out towards the back door.

Sliding it open you are met with a gust of wind and soon a sharp pain on your cheek, lifting your hand up and wiping it, you pull back blood.

Your pupils expand as you realize what’s happening and spin on your heels, slapping your back to the wooden interior of the home and out of the doorway. In the distance, you can hear the foliage shifting.

“Inuyasha!” you cry and before you know it he’s at your side.

“What happened? Where’d ya get that cut?!”

“There’s something out in the woods and I don’t know if it’s Yura, your brother, or what?”

“Well have ya said the relax thing yet?”

“No” you respond “If she’s holding your brother that would let him get away. Do you smell anything?

The half demon inhales and breaths a series of rapid short breaths before tightening the grip on his new sword.

“Ya, there’s someone there, but it an’t a demon… probably a bandit or someone looken ta use the house ta sleep in. HEY! WE AN’T GOT NOTHEN VALUBLE SO WHY DON’T YA GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE BEFORE I KILL YA?”

There’s no response, but a small piece of bamboo clanks to the floor, thrown from outside, a small fuse burns on it before smoke billows out of it, filling the house with a thick choking cloud. You feel your lungs burn and your eyes water, but Inuyasha seems to have gotten the worst of it.

Through the calamity you can make out the sound of footsteps on the wooden floor. Through the smoke you can make out a feminine form followed by a muffled voice ”I was expecting better prey.”

Plus, Sesshomaru'll come back if Jaken can find him, and he'll actually be on our side since he's got that whole "nobody gets to kill my brother but me" thing going on

Naraku's Incarnations are a hell of a list.

Here's a few we'll likely have to deal with;

Kagura, Wind Sorceress. Flies around on a giant feather. Hates Naraku, but he has her heart in his hand, and can kill her whenever he wants. Has a thing for Sesshomaru.

Weird Fucked Up White-Haired Guy; This one's fairly strong, can't talk, but the real danger is that he has this little snake/mantis clone of himself in his stomach, which he can spit out, and is intelligent, and speaks. The little bugger is also really fast with sharp mantis-claws.

Goshinki; Mindreading Lizard Ogre. He can bite the Tetseiga in half, and started that whole 'My half-demon blood berserker side can take over.' thing with Inuyasha.

You shake your head trying to clear your senses, but your vision’s still swimming and it’s hard to breath. While your vision and breathing seem to be on the fritz, the rest of your body is luckily working just fine.

If this woman, whoever she is, wanted to kill you, she could have easily done so the moment she appeared. No, she needs you for something. Or one of your companions and she hasn’t taken any physically aggressive actions since you saw her in person. You’ll need to “play dumb” until you can make a move.

Your attacker kneels and reaches a hand toward you, holding a ring of rope in it. Your assumptions are confirmed, however you have no intent of being captured. You reach out and grab her by the wrist, pulling her forward and throwing her off balance before shoving her arm back, sending her tumbling backwards and on the floor and into a dense section of the smoke. You've got a feeling she won't be down for long.

Judging by the hacking sounds next to you, it seems Inuyasha’s not on his feet yet. He's a real hassle sometimes...

You see a flash of silver erupt from the smoke and turn. The thrown dagger glances off of your leather armor. Your eyes narrow and you charge forward blindly into the smoke and immediately fall to your back, throwing all your weight and momentum into a low kick that connects with your assailants shin, sending her off balance again and sending her falling forward, her chin connecting with a rather clumsy uppercut from you and knocking her on her ass. Kagome's been through a lot at this stage of the game. Sango underestimated her, and now she's stuck in an ugly CQC brawl where she can't see properly, and Kagome is now demonstrating a surprising aptitude for blind fighting.

Here's the whole party as it is in canon:
Sango the demon hunter and Miroku the priest on Kirara, Kagome with Shippo the young kitsune, and Inuyasha falling off.

Power-wise: Inuyasha, Miroku (though he doesn't get many opportunities to use said power), Sango, Kagome and Shippo (though his fox-magics can be quite useful for distractions, get-aways...)

You lift up your left leg, barely dodging a blade, but not the leg sweep that follows right afterwards and you swiftly find yourself back on your back and your opponent straddling you. She lifts up her short sword, prararing for a stabbing motion, but you manage to pull your Jitte out of your belt and deflect the blade into the floor next to you just in time.

Rolling your legs, you manage to hook one of them around the female assassins throat and roll forward, pinning her back to the floor, were you swiftly rip off her mask and toss it aside.

A sharp pain runs down your leg and you yelp in pain and reflexively release your grip allowing your attacker to roll off to the side and retrieve her blade holding it again in a stabbing position before flipping it rightside up and gripping it with her other hand.

The smoke seems to be thinning, but it’s clear she’s affected by the smoke, although not to the degree you were.

"What's going on? You ok?" Inuyasha asks through a series of coughs as he wobbles to his feet.

Uprighting yourself on your knee, you yank the small blade from your thigh and slip it into your belt. You’ve got no idea how to throw these things, but it might be useful if you end up grappling with her again.

You take a moment to memorize your opponents face and despite her inflated cheeks and watering eyes you can make out that she’s a relatively young woman and unusually attractive by comparison of everyone else you’ve met so far. The most notable feature has to be her makeup. You haven’t seen anyone else wear the stuff outside of that one retainer back at the massacred village. Perhaps this woman too is a noble of some kind.

Her eyes while calculating blaze with fire and she charges at you swinging her blade in a horizontal slash. You deflect with your jittie before being struck in the gut having, the assailant switched to a one handed strike mid attack without you noticing.

You keel over and loosen the Ono from your back, throwing all of your power behind it and sending the spiked bit screaming upwards and barely missing your attacker as she leaps out of the way.

You ready yourself again and thrust at her with your jitte, and like you did to her earlier, she grabs your arm and pulls you towards her, kneeing you in the gut. Gasping, you respond in kind with a head-butt, connecting squarely on her nose.

It erupts crimson and she gasps from the pain before throwing you back and pulling away, tears streaming down her face. She raises a hand to her mouth in an attempt to stifle the blood and the effects of the now severally thinned smoke and is soon knocked off of her feet and into the brick wall of the furnace where she slumps to one knee.

Standing in her place is Inuyasha, eyes red and swollen and wielding a ridiculously large sword slung over his shoulder; his fist outstretched to where the assassin once stood.

“I don’t make a habit of hitten’ women, but for you I’ll make an exception.”

The two of you rush at your shared opponent with a shout , bringing your weapons down to cleave her, however she manages to push your arm just out of range and rolls under Inuyasha and between his legs and rushes out of the back door as another smoke bomb detonates where she once sat.

Covering your faces, you and Inuyasha evacuate the once again smoke filled home. A feint trail of blood leading into the woods.
