Welcome to the XLVI installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."

Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

Poll: How hard should it be to kill the Horned King?http://strawpoll.me/3094209

Christ, shows me right for not properly checking the OP post; the Horned King poll is still in there. Just ignore that, I guess.

Anyway, the only KLR we still need done is Queen La's, then we're on to statting out the Villains and Kings? How many Villains should each King get? So far we're working with an average of four, but that could change. Should all Villains be powerful individuals or are some just managers and generals with great social influence?
>>
>>36492562

Making some with great social influence seems legit enough; after all, social situations are a huge part of the system
>>
>>36492521
Experimental BEE KNIGHT rules:

Hive Knight:
Size: Medium!
Natural weapons: Stingers provide +2 to Brawl
Racial Traits:
HoneyHoneyHooney, Honey!: When those other fuckers are sleeping, you are producing sweet delicious honey. Honey can be used to reduce an enemies Agility by 2, or restore two Strikes. Ursine characters suffer -4 Agility from the honey. One Honey stack is produced once per day. Stacks up to 5 stacks at Zero, increasing to 10 at On-A-Roll and 15 at Hero. Excess honey must be either sold, used, or discarded immediately.
Flight: Each piece of armor can be disassembled quickly. The bees carry the armor, and you can take to the motherfucking skies as a bee cloud.
Drones: Can send out little flying fuckers to gather information or pick up small objects. These lil fuckers are dumb, but can report back to you so long as they don't have to make any decisions on the way. They get +2 to stealth, and an additional +2 against humans, on account of being all tiny and shit
Amorphous: +2 to Prevent Harm
Attributes: +2 Robustness, +2 Intelligence, -2 Agility
Bug Type: take a -2 penalty against fire damage

Experimental Hedgehog Rules:
Size: Small
Natural weapons: Claws and Spines provide +2 to Brawl.
Racial Traits:
Prickly/IT HURTS MY HANDS: All damage taken from Brawl attacks is also reflected back at the attacker.
Rollin' Around: You can spend a Will point to go into Ball mode for your next two turns. Ball Mode grants +2 Robustness and Agility. Can be picked up and thrown like a Ranged Weapon in this form.
Nocturnal: -1 Sensibility during the day, +2 Sensibility during the night.
Attribute Bonuses: +2 Agility, -2 Robustness, +2 Intelligence

>>36492562
Yes, Queen La is the only one still missing.
I'd say 3-5 per King as a sample.
Dunno, if they're just managers and generals without anything special going for them we could stat them with Inner Circle rules.
>>
>>36492562
I imagine some like the Horned King's Villains would just be powerful individuals and generals, while the Villains for lands that people actually live in, like Frollo's, probably have social influence. Like, I'm pretty sure the public won't like the party for killing what's pretty much considered a superhero for them, but the few people living in the Horned King's land probably would celebrate if MR. BONES died since he was a dude that was feared by a lot of people.
>>
>>36492792
Yeah. If you watch the movie, whenever the guy was walking around, everyone seemed to be shitting themselves.

>>
>>36493204

Laws of the Fey makes Deceit useless, by the way, in case it wasn't clear. No penalties to something you can't do at all
>>
>>36493231
Occult+Ranged+Intelligence is a bit weird of a combat roll, but it works given her lore.

Overall, I think she needs a bit more Protect Harm since she's only at +22 at the moment, but otherwise it looks good.

Hey everyone, checking in again. I hope all of our US content creators, playtesters, and writers have been having a nice Thanksgiving weekend and snagged some sweet deals online or at the mall.

Got another chapter primed for those interested. It's longer than previous installments, but I hope it's enjoyable. Any takers?

Right, I'm here now. Adding Maleficent v1 to wiki.

Sorry, Kaa statter here. Do you mind updating his Prevent Harm to 11 and changing his Melee to Brawl 10? He's meant to be on the squishy side but he's a little too much so right now. Christopher Robin also needs adding, but I'm not sure which category he goes under.

“It’s over here! Right this way!” Anna shouted over her shoulder to the trailing squad. “It’s not much, but it’ll be a lot better than trying to face nightfall in the wilderness.”

“‘Any port in a storm’, as the saying goes,” Catherine quipped.

The trading post looked to have more in common with a log cabin than a general store. The store was kept in splendid condition, compared to the abandoned town. The thick wooden door stood in front of a wide veranda, stretching from one corner of the general store’s front across. Warm yellow light emanating from the windows betrayed the oil lamps within. Thick, gray smoke billowed into the frigid air from a stone chimney jutting from the center of the structure. A collection of caribou, moose, and deer antlers adorned the entrance, interspersed with wolf skulls. Thach noted the fox and wolf pelts hanging from the trading post’s sides as the squad closed in.

“Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post.” Womack read the wood-carved sign that hung proudly over the entrance. “And Sauna?” He furrowed his brow at the tacked-on, smaller sign.

“Oh nice, a creepy cabin in the woods,” Zoe sighed. “I know how this story ends.”

“As long as it’s warm, it could be a fucking abbatoir and I’d still go in.” Kavita pushed ahead of the group and entered right after Anna swung the door open.

The trading post’s interior looked dated, but pleasant. Part tourist trap, part general store, the goods making up the trading post’s wares had certainly seen better days. More pelts and antler sets graced the walls, packed between ski sets and snowshoes. Shelves proudly displayed pickled perch and pike. Moose and caribou jerky were kept in loose strips on other shelves. Hammers, picks, saws, and rope occupied most of the remaining free space not taken by stores shelves or animal parts. Kavita gawked at the odd display of kitsch and practicality around her. She moved to run a hand over a thick grey wolf pelt adorning the wall when a “Hoo, hoo~” came from her right. Kavita swung her body in the direction of the voice, left hand reflexively cross-drawing for the pistol on her right hip.

He was tall—that much Kavita could figure from a single look. The man was built like a slab of rock, his frame broad and padded with fat, showing a lifetime of hard labor in the wintry haven. The man’s handlebar moustache continued past his rosy cheeks and linked up with bushy sideburns. Frazzled flax-blond hair was kept hidden under a comically small, cylindrical hat. The hat was the same mishmash of colors as the thick sweater that covered the man’s frame, a mess of blue, green, and orange. His mouth was spread into a wide grin, fat fingers steepled in front of him. “Nice break in de storm we’ve had over de past few days, yah?” His voice, surprising to Kavita, was light, sing-song in tone.

The Indian girl brushed a loose strand of hair from her eyes. “Um...” she trailed off, taking her hand off the grip of her pistol. “I wouldn’t know. I’m not from here.”

“Oooooh, visitors?” The man clapped his hands together. “Been awhile since we’ve had any. Last group to come through here said they were from de Church.” The man chuckled.

“The Church...?” Kavita cupped her chin in thought. She had heard of the Grand Archdiocese’s so-called “crusades” into the lands of those they considered heretics. The squads were ruthless in their execution, leaving naught for their enemies but ashes and salted earth. The Kolkata native regarded the Inquisitorial kill-teams as pious pyromaniacs, backwards zealots that would sooner put the torch to an entire village for the sins of a single man than attempt a fair trial.

The man cleared his throat, throwing Kavita from her introspection. “So I noticed you were perusing our selection of pelts!” The man smiled a jovial smile. “All the pelts are from animals personally caught and skinned by my family—the wolf furs are the wife’s favorite. Useful to drape around chairs, beds, or yourself! It’s fifteen for the wolf pelts, twenty-five for foxes.”

The ice statue moved through the door next, waving to the large man. “Hiya, Oaken!”

“Hoo-hoo! Good to see you again, Anna!” The man waved back. “Is the woman over dere your friend?”

“Oh, definitely!” Anna grabbed hold of the Indian woman. “Kavita, this is Oaken—Oaken, Kavita.”

“Um...hi?” Kavita gave a pained smile, extending her hand.

“Pleased to make your acquaintance, Kavita!” The man shook Kavita’s hand vigorously.

“Wait—you know this man?” Kavita asked.

“Well duh—it’s kinda hard to live around here without knowing the handful of people who could willingly talk back!” Anna flapped her hand at Kavita. “On my first trip up the mountain, Oaken was the one who outfitted me for the journey—and lemme tell you, their Winter department was /nothing/ like how it looks right now.”

“So—what brings you to our neck of the woods?” Oaken asked the Indian woman.

“I believe I can answer that question for you, sir.” The squadleader stepped through the doorway, running a hand through her auburn curls. “Captain Allyson Thach, Eight Atlantean Expeditionary Unit. I’m the leader of this venture and Kavita’s superior.” Allyson held out her hand. “Oaken, I presume?”

“Yes, ma’am—owner of this trading post and sauna.” Oaken firmly shook the captain’s hand. “My family has served this cabin for generations.”

“Charming.” Thach cleared her throat. “Anna said you could maybe give us lodging for the night. We’re heading up the North Mountain to talk with Queen Elsa.”

“Nothing too sinister, I hope.” Oaken frowned.

“Trade proposals, actually.” Catherine stepped forward, jar of pickled pike in hand. “Trade proposals that, should your queen accept, would prove quite profitable for both our countries.”

“Now about that lodging...?” Thach licked her lips.

“Vell, it’s not much, but the stables are available. Haven’t had much company, but we’ve kept them clean and stocked with fresh hay.”

“My men will take whatever you can give, sir.” Thach produced a handful of Atlantean silver and deposited it on the store counter.

As Oaken pondered the odd coinage on his counter the squad found their way to the stables. True to Oaken’s word, they had been kept clean. “We bunkin’ here for the night, Cap?” Zeke said, dropping his pack.

“At least it’s dry,” Womack shrugged, lighting an oil lamp to brighten up the interior.

As Zoe set down her rifle by the stable wall, she noticed the Atlantean emissary attempting to find a comfortable spot in a pile of hay. “You gonna be okay there, Miss Beckett?” She asked.

“Oh don’t worry about me, Miss Martin.” Catherine said, shuffling about. “I’ve experienced my fair share of uncomfortable bedding-- a little bit of hay and a roof is a blessing compared to being eaten alive by insects in South America.”

“You’ve been to South America?” Kavita settled into a corner formed by several stacked hay bales.

“Oh yes,” the emissary nodded. “The expedition’s objective originally was to begin trade negotiations with Queen Yzma.”

“Is it true what they say about the sun?” Zoe quipped. “That it’s blocked out by a gigantic stone with a scribble of Yzma’s haggard face perpetually staring down at you?”

>doesn't need to spend a will point to blast the PCs with magic
You've done well. I've noticed that the Fire Breath is 4 less than her Overwhelming Magic (9 when you consider the staff) and doesn't inflict Burning; also, her dragon form doesn't have some renamed 'free intimdate check against everyone once per turn' power. Those are the only things I'd change. That and none of her powers or traits are named "ALL THE POWERS OF HELL!"

“Very much so.” Catherine chuckled. “Several times we found ourselves running from the malevolent spawn of that jungle. There were swarms of ants that blanketed entire sections of the forest, moving as a single unit. Spiders as large as grown men had built colonies reaching up to the tree-tops, the desiccated remains of their previous meals hanging limply in web sacks. The insects weren’t the worst of it, though: the crocodiles and constrictors were infinitely worse—as big as dinosaurs, the both of them! And the gators? They hunted in packs!”

“Like wolves?” Zeke asked.

“Exactly like wolves—wolves that were thirty feet long and thick-skinned enough to withstand low-power lightning shots.” Catherine took a drink from her canteen before continuing. “We lost a couple guys to the gators, and couple more to the snakes. Constrictors, they were—could easily snap a man’s body after coiling around them. There was this one time where we were able to witness a pack of these gators attempting to fight a constrictor—it was like something out of a pulp mag!”

“Did you ever get to see The Mad Empress in her terrible glory?” Womack said.

“We did—well, we almost did,” Catherine said. “After maybe three weeks of roughing it through the absolute worst jungle I had ever had the pleasure of pathfinding, we arrived at the Empress’ palace. It’s about what you would expect from a crazy old windbag with power—solid gold, images of the Empress’ face everywhere, everyone in the town below struggling to make a living if they’re not already eating anyone or anything else that moves. Anyway—we’re led by this...not-so-bright fellow named Kronk. Big guy, just didn’t have the brains to match his brawn. Kronk leads us to this antechamber and tells us to ‘please wait’ as the Empress was busy attending to other affairs. Now the head of our security detail, Captain Thomas Hutch, was eaten on the way up the mountain by a mutant vulture...chinchilla...thing. The ones in the antechamber were me, the acting security team leader Lieutenant Agdena-loka’an Foramashto—you might know him as ‘Loka’—, two other squad members from an originally seven-strong security team, and a well-meaning commoner known as Pacha, who guided us on our final leg up the mountain after our first two guides who were overwhelmed by a swarm of ants and ripped apart by a pack of alligators, respectively. Now Loka—he was full Atlantean, if the name didn’t give it away. He already knew something wasn’t right—wasn’t afraid to let it be known, too. He promptly said we were probably gonna die here, either zapped by magic or fed to her playthings.”

“Playthings?” Kavita asked.

“There are stories traded around that the empress experiments on the malcontents of her empire,” Bernadette said, running a gloved hand through her brunette hair. “Keeps them around as trophies—living monuments to her scientific prowess.”

“Quite,” Catherine replied. “And then the floor fell out. The first thought running through my head is we’re about to fall into a pit of spikes or splash into a pit filled with more of those Mega Gators. As it happens, we found ourselves jutting down this enormous slide like logs in a flume! I’m not sure how long we are falling up down, and rolling through loops and spirals before we’re deposited right at the gates of the golden palace.”

“Wrong lever.” Pan surmised, nodding.

“Needless to say, we didn’t want to tempt Fortune twice. We struck out for the coast, hounded every waking moment by hordes of Yzma’s experiments. We blasted our way through undergrowth, villages, and narrow mountain passes, all the while hounded by these abominations. Some looked like misshapen humans; others looked like the brainchildren of Doctor Moreau himself. Our salvation came in the form of a commandeered garbage scow—we rode that thing straight to the Panama Canal and into the arms of friendly Atlanteans.”

Zoe chuckled. “Well that certainly explains Loka’s hatred of snakes.”

“That’s incredible!” Anna clamored. “Like something out of a fairy tale! Could you maybe tell us another tale?”

Alright, back again. Time to finish this up!

--

The dawn’s first rays played across the Bellerophon’s hull, casting long shadows on the ice as she sat in the ice-covered harbor. The light scattered as it hit the bridge, manned by a skeleton crew that would soon circulate out as the morning wore on. The access ramps extending from the submersible’s side met clearly defined roads, worn out paths that just the other day were being scouted out. Jeeps and supply trucks filed in and out of the sub at a constant pace, shipping out food, construction materials, and artillery guns while bringing in various curios, relics, and the occasional victim of mild frostbite.

The city of Arendelle, for the first time in many years, had its streets filled with activity. Soldiers filed in and out of the houses and shops that lined the streets, many having been converted into base buildings, ranging from barracks to equipment storage to kitchens. Sandbag roadblocks were starting to be built across some of the more narrow streets, engineering crews hefting over hedgehogs and concertina wire off swollen supply trucks. The main entrances to the city were turned into a patchwork of lightning blaster nests, sniper posts, and roadblocks. In the town square, the skeletal form of a radio tower was hastily erected. Artillery guns, towed across the harbor, sat in a quaint line outside the town, facing the mountains. Armored bulldozers began making their first forays past the town, attempting to carve out roads further inland.

Admiral Swearengen observed the goings-on from the comfort of the Bellerophon’s bridge, bringing a white porcelain mug to his lips. Normally, the mug would contain black coffee, sweetened with cane sugar and mixed with a small measure of Bushmills from the Admiral’s private reserve. This morning, he chose for something different: hot chocolate, thick as porridge and mildly bitter. He idly stirred the mixture with a fragment of a churro as an attendant walked in behind him. The admiral took a sidelong glance. “Ahh, Miss Hadley.” He nodded. “Good morning.”

“Good morning to you too, sir.” The attendant gave a short salute.

“Have you tried the hot chocolate yet, Genevieve?” Swearengen took another sip. “Damn fine alternative to the watered-down mess they call coffee on this ship.”

“I, uh, honestly hadn’t, sir.” Bonnie scratched her cheek.

“I recommend it, Hadley.” The man turned to face the young woman, stroking his moustache. “So, what news from overnight?”

“Nothing much, sir.” The girl produced a folder that had been tucked under her elbow, opening it and sifting through the papers within. “Construction has been going ahead of schedule. The communications tower was erected last night, and power generators are being constructed as we speak. Approximately half of our troop detachment is in the town, identifying chokepoints and fortifying structures. Engineering is seeing to the defense works and is starting to clear paths out of town and into the wilderness.”

“Progress on that front?”

“Slow—combat engineer teams have been reporting they’ve had to blast through some parts where the snow had become packed together and frozen into ice.”

“Troublesome.” The admiral took a bite from the chocolate-soaked churro. “Anything from our away teams?”

“Other than checking in this morning before starting again, no sir.”

“Good, good,” the Admiral said. “Weather reports?”

“There’s a storm system moving south—heavy snow, thunder and lightning are also a possibility. We’ll be in the clear for maybe another day, but anything after that is a toss-up. No clue on severity or duration, but it doesn’t look good either way.”

“Got it. Thank you, Hadley.” Swearengen looked to the mountains framing the town, frowning. “I’d really hate to be going into the middle of that mess.”

It wasn’t until the next day morning that the climb up the mountain began in earnest. The pines and birches of the forest began to look more and more windswept as Thach’s squad pushed higher and higher. The air seemed to take on a hint of malevolence, the cold adding a biting harshness. Thach turned her gaze upwards. Grey clouds, seething and thick, rolled past. Lightning danced across the overhead sea. Centered in the middle of the morose skyscape was the North Mountain, its hoary peak breaking through the cloud cover like a ship’s bowsprit through a fog bank.

“Doesn’t look too good, does it?” Thach’s radiowoman came up beside her.

“If I were a guy down in town, I’d be thinking I’d really hate to be the guys going up that thing,” Thach said.

“So what does that make us?” Bernadette turned to her squadleader, smirking.

Thach chuckled, starting to walk. “A buncha damn fools on a noble mission.”

Anna let out a sudden gasp. “Oh my goodness!” She turned to the rest of the squad. “I knew this neck of the woods looked familiar! Oh, we’re so close, too!”

Lahey walked up to the statue. “Anna, what are you talking ab—” He was cut off as Anna, grinning and near exploding from excitement, dashed ahead. “Anna!?” Zeke took off at a spring to catch the former princess.

“Wait, Zeke!” Catherine shouted. “Anna—come back! You’re our guide!” Catherine bolted after the medic.

“Oh for God’s sake, Zeke!” Kavita groaned, turning to the heavy weapon specialist beside her. “C’mon, Pan! Let’s catch those two idiots before they gets into trouble!” Pan only gave a nod before the pair gave chase.

Thach sighed, turning her stroll into a slow jog. “Christ dammit,” she muttered.

“Like herding cats, eh?” Womack piped up from behind her, grinning.

“Like herding cats,” Thach repeated.

“Place your bets now: Anna might just be leading us into a trap,” Zoe quipped from ahead of Thach.

“Keep your guns up, then,” Thach said. “Be ready for anything.”

The forest of pines dissipated into a large, wide clearing. The centerpiece of the clearing was a cascading waterfall spilling out into a small pool, both having long since frozen over. Willow trees graced the banks of the pool and sprung up intermittently around the clearing, ice forming over the slender leaves and leaving them shimmering like specks of dew.

What caught the squad’s attention, however, were the statues that dotted every part of the clearing. They were under the willows, posed by the pool, and by the banks of the waterfall. They appeared in valiant poses, frightful repose, and hopeless despair. They were knights and soldiers and messengers. They were a portent of doom.

“Tadaaaaa~!” Anna showed off the morbid display to her companions. “Welcome to the Statue Garden!”

And there you have it, the next installment done. Next bit should have some actual combat. Catch ya later!

Well, after seeing Sleeping Beauty, I've come to the conclusion that I've been spoiled by the Disney Renaissance. Next to no characterization, very little plot depth, no twists on the original fairy tale.....I'd chalk it up to lack of technology, experience and ambition as opposed to effort, but still, the whole thing felt like a bedtime story dragged out an hour longer than it needed to be.

Anyway, I gotta be up in 7 hours. Good night all.

Sleeping Beauty's mostly the story of the fairies, anyway. I think halfway through development, the writers all went "jesus christ we can't make this dumb bitch interesting" and then decided to make the movie about a bunch of fairies who kick a dragon's ass.

Creepy Crawly (to the tune of Topsy Turvy from Hunchback)

CROWD
Oh crap! He's here!
Seal the windows, lift the rugs,
Fill the floorboard holes with plugs!
Oh crap! He's here!
Empty out your jars and jugs,
Cover up the cups and mugs,
It's that awful day of...

OOGIE BOOGIE
Bugs! (laugh)

Once a year, ol' Oogie Boogie comes to town,
Once a year, my bugs come up from underground,
Anything that slithers, crawls or skitters 'round,
Once again it's Creepy Crawly Day!
It's the day I give the jitters out in heaps!
It's the day you're guaranteed to get the creeps!
Everything is creepy crawly on my day of bugs!

CROWD
Creepy crawly!

OOGIE
Arthropods of every color!

CROWD
Creepy crawly!

OOGIE
Here to snatch your bottom dollar!
Bingo, craps, roulette for you to play!
Throw your cash at Creepy Crawly Day!

CROWD
Creepy crawly!

OOGIE
Serpents open up their gullets,

CROWD
Creepy crawly!

OOGIE
Feeding on your fattened wallets!
Cross your fingers, pray that you won't pay!
Lose yourself to gambler's folly
In this slimy carnivale,
Serves you right on Creepy Crawly Day!

That's right! I'm here!
Who would like to try their luck?
You could win an easy buck!
That's right! I'm here!
Don't be just another schmuck,
Drag yourself out of the muck!
Else you're just a sitting...
Duck!

Here it is, the moment you've been dreadin' worst!
Here it is, the showing that you've always cursed!
Now's the time that tickles me until I burst!
Now's the time I call the king of bugs!
Bigger than a basketball with sixty feet,
Thirty eyes and mandibles in search of meat!
He's an insect paragon I call the king of bugs!

CROWD
Creepy crawly!

OOGIE
Pretty soon his happy dronin'

CROWD
Creepy crawly!

OOGIE
Will drown out your sorry moanin'.
He'd just love a gambler buffet,
Fills him up on Creepy Crawly Day!

Once a year, ol' Oogie Boogie comes to town,
Once a year, my bugs come up from underground,
Once a year, the king of bugs will double down,
Once a year on Creepy Crawly Day!
You'll make up a smorgasbord for insect-kind!
All unlucky debtors will be wined and dined!
Once a year, the spiders reel in
All the chumps who lost the dealin'
Suckin' down the suckers gone astray!
So try your hardest not to bust on Creepy Crawly Day!

I haven't been watching these threads too closely, so forgive me if it's already been discussed, but has there been anything written up about the villain from Tangled, Mother Gothel?

She doesn't seem very magical herself, but assuming she keeps Rapunzel locked up, surely having the ability to make people near immortal and heal them from any injury has got to count for something.
>>
>>36498305
Not a lot has been written about her, but she's definitely been up to something. Grimhilde has been paying her a very handsome sum in particular to drop by once in a while.

I'm sure if we add some details from the books we can cook up something interesting

>Lost city deep in the jungle, filled with treasure
>Lost colony of Atlantis (with all that comes with it in the Disney universe)
>Ruled by a priestess-queen who was kicked out of her tribe for using sorcery to become immortal
>Due to inbreeding and magical pollution is inhabited in equal parts by amazons and beastmen
>Worship the "Flaming God"
>Put out stories about the lost treasures of Opar to lure adventurers and have a fresh stream of human sacrifices

In terms of magical powrs La would be a total pushover, just a little hypnosis, polymorphism and druidic magic, so she'd rely more on deception and her fanatical followers.
>>
>>36500075
La could probably be weaker than Sabor, actually. It'd add a neat dynamic to them.

The Disney wiki has... problems.
>>
>>36500099
What if the land, though it recognizes Queen La as it's ruler, also recognizes Sabor as a possible candidate.
Like 75% of the land is La's but 25% considers Sabor to be the master. This leads to a quarter of the realm being much different from the rest. Animals are even more feral and ferocious, the jungles are so dense only a true predator could pass through.
>>
>>36500099
>>36500313
There's a lot of rebellion in other lands, but this'd be the first with a full-blown civil war. Could be a good way to make it stand out.
>>
>>36500313
>>36500355
I'm torn between La and Sabor having an uneasy alliance punctuated by the occasional power struggle and La and Sabor having an awesome womance.
>>
>>36500383
But... she's a leopard. Not even one of the talking ones.
>>
>>36500383
>>36500355
I was thinking more along the lines of this.

La is, for the most part, in control of her land. Her and Sabor have an alliance that, while not as close as she'd like them to be, is still pretty tight.
However, La has noticed that Sabor's usual hunting grounds have become much different then her own. She knows Sabor could easily overpower her as does the land.

The more Sabor opposes her regime, the more the land recognizes her as its rightful leader. The only reason Sabor hasn't capitalized on this is because she herself isn't aware of it.

Here's the KLR for Queen La I put up a while back, feel free to edit:

King: La's origins are slightly murky. She will tell you that she was simply a girl who was raised by the Leopardmen and 'knows a few tricks.' The surviving tribals will say that she's an evil spirit that has been moving from host to host for generations. Others will look at the body of Queen La, and note her skin tone, eyes, and use of crystals and wonder if Opar was once a sister city to Atlantis. Whatever the truth is, La rules, and La is. She demands that any and all bow to her, and if she has a desire, then it WILL be fulfilled. She does not tolerate rejection, dissent, or failure. That said, she has very little interest as to what happens inside her kingdom, if it doesn't concern her.

Land: The Lands of the Leopard could be considered to be the opposite of the Pridelands. Where the Pridelands are overhunted, the Leopard lands run wild with animals, most of them hostile to intruders and each other. Where there is bare earth in Scar's domain, La's realm has vegetation everywhere, and that too can be hostile. The one exception is the Great City of Opar. Where La lives, waited on by her army of Leopardmen. It is a great city of stone and bronze.

Rule: La really won't notice if someone has entered into her realm. The one exception being Prideland Lions hunting for food, she views them as 'pests' and loves to turn them into the hunted. La respects strength, she'd actually be impressed if someone was able to fight through her deathtrap of a kingdom and get to Opar. More so if they have a reputation of defeating others that somehow reaches her. Such a person might receive a welcome to be part of her kingdom, her guard, or more. It would not end well if you refused. If she is angered, La will send her army of Leopardmen, and other beasts, after the offender. She's canny though, and people can discover themselves falling to 'accidents' as well.
>>
>>36500695
And here's some backstory and her relationship with Sabor:

hen notices that there are Prideland Lions and members of the Sultanate scouting around to Opar.

They're all pathetic weaklings, and she's afraid of that weakness 'infecting' Opar. So she decides to force them out. She stops her land grab at the edges of the Pirdelands' blight and the Sultunate's settlements, as those lands have already been infected by weakness.

Right now, she remains in Opar, making sure that those weaklings don't come into HER jungle and infect it. She also is hoping that one day someone with actual might walks into Opar.

The relationship between La and Sabor is like the one between Grimhilde and Gothel. One respects the other, but it's clear who is queen, and who is not. La honors Sabor's strength by letting her have free reign in her kingdom, allowing her first kill, and sending her little messages when Prideland Lions cross into La's jungle. La knows that Sabor likes a good hunt.

I have a question that I'm not sure has been addressed in the previous threads. If Ursula is in control of the ocean does it also mean she can disrupt air travel as well seeing as I'm fairly certain she can control the weather? Food for thought.

Pretty standard test to see how O-a-Roll tier characters handle social situations with a couple of fights at the end starring two pirates, a cowboy, a baseball player and a monkey posing as an english gentleman. Mugging a tax collector to steal his uniform so the monkey can pass for a member of the EITC and leaving him naked in a barrel with some woodcarved porn, boarding your own ship while corrupt dock-workers are stealing it, being engaged in a ship-to-ship battle off the chinese coast, the baseball player homerunning people in the face from 150m and shooting puns that would make Carlos blush and one of the pirates swimming 200m in 3 seconds and killing 50 people with a single punch. Good times.

Maybe they could be two of those rare villains that can be made no longer a threat by talking it out?

Oh, I meant that I hadn't thought of them as villains to be included in the DVV setting, not villains in their own works persay. I do think that fae bargaining and shifting alliances with these characters could be worked into a faelands/Briarwoods/kingdom of the thorn campaign quite nicely.

>>
>>36507809
Physical Description:
Dark of fur and long of limb, this remarkable example of ape wears a decorated padded vests and carries two curved swords and a battered rucksack on his back.

Rundown:
Monkeys have a very particular place in the Khanate's caste system. Sher Khan's political ties with the Kingdom of the Red Flower put the second only to the great cats in terms of rights and leeway, but exactly for this reason many see them as upstart foreigners reaping benefits they don't deserve. Kapi's modest origins and choice of career (adventurer and archeologist, or as he is often called "glorified graverobber") certainly didn't help. This is why he's always preferred the quiet of forgotten tombs and
overgrown temple to the hustle and bustle of cities and his "untouchable" human cousins to his fellow animals. Though he has achieved his dream of leaving his country and explore the wider world, homesickness can never be truly banished.
>>

in a previous thread I mentioned using Nob #1 and Nob #2 as members of Faciliers inner circle, heres what I meant by that:

Nobody Important: a Man Who in exchange for the friends power gave away His Date of Birth, now this may not seem like much but it effectively means he can be overlooked, as if he was never there, seeing as he never really existed.

Nobody Interesting: this man gave the Friends his Name, this effectively means that he can hide from any attempts to discern his location, after all, You can put a Name to a face, But You can't put a face to a Name

Beautiful, this is the last KLR we need in the entire system. Once we finish statting Kings now, we will officially be in Beta. Thanks Ghost, your contributions are great and your presence in the last handful of threads has been missed.

>adding namefags as actual presences in the system
Regardless of intentions, bad idea.

I believe I promised someone a song, but I'm not sure who. Please remind me.
>>
>>36508544
sorry, it seemed like a good idea at the time, most things I come up with do, but then they turn out to be utter rubbish when put into practice.
>>
>>36508639
Don't apologize m8, all brainstorming is good brainstorming. It's just that people tend to get upset (Probably rightfully) when writers work themselves into the system itself, even when not written by themselves.
>>
>>36508544
>>36508639
>>36508698
We could give the namefagsand every anon that helped a little thank you in the back of the core for all the work they did
>>
>>36508768
Maybe just as a footnote at the end of the PDF. We shouldn't make the thank you page a big thing, since the majority of namefags are anons overall. I doubt any of them will use their names after the system is over.
>>
>>36508768
If there is a thanks page it should just be 'Anonymous' repeated 30 times, as a joke.
>>
>>36508813
Yeah, I'm not hanging onto this name. I chose it to DOWNPLAY the attention it'd get. I'd recommend dedicating the last page as an index but having a small (10 point font maybe?) list of the namefags and especially anonymous at the bottom of the page, where only the people looking for it will find it.

Should probably also include a "thank you" to disney for not C&Ding us, even if that's impossible.

>>36508468
>>36508544
The only acknowledgement I'd like to get is having No One be an example Inner Circle or Villain.
>>
>>36508813
Yeah, I'm sure as hell not keeping my name after this. It's literally based off the character I made to keep in Disney spirit.

>>36508915
>>36508941
What if we had, at the last page, a MASSIVE thank you to Disney in general for not v&ing us all, and then like a tiny list of namefags and 'anonymous' repeated a bunch of times. That'd be a good thanks page.
>>
Okay, someone remind me what Atlantean hoverbikes are called, what bonus a large Atlantean pistol gives and what skill we use to prepare it under the table.

Alright, Villain-Statting Guy here, I've seen some interesting ideas for the Fae Kingdom, what theme should we/I go with.

Interesting. I think a Land in struggle for it's actual King contrasts well with the other Lands and with China specifically. How would we represent this mechanically?

>>36509001
I think a big ol' thanks page to Disney, the actual actors/writers, and then a teeny list of the /dvv/ thread people (mostly anonymous ~30 times) would be good if it was at the bottom.

>>36509002
>transport
Yes, but you'll be on camels hired from Agrabian merchants since you'll be in Egypt. Try not to offend the locals too much.

Probably +3, since it's a Fine gunpowder weapon which is +2, and +1 for Atlantean Tech.

It could be a sort of hidden-mechanic. subtle changes to the land that unless you're looking hard you wouldn't notice.

Say for example our party of hero's defeats La with Sabor still alive. Instead of returning to normal, the land accepts her as king, granting her La's power as well as her own.

It could also work towards a more political stand-point. The more La's land is taken over by the cat, the more paranoid she gets. It might even get to the point where she sends adventurers or assassins to kill her so she cannot be usurped.

Alright guys, I'm gonna try statting Ursula in a while.

Is it fair to make the Trident the most OP part and give Ursula herself mostly "eh okay I guess" stats?
>>
>>36510674
Coming into this discussion to state that this trope in general pisses me off. Noble ladies don't just fuck the first bard with a good song unless you're catherine. High nobility with lovers were common because of arranged marriages, screwing someone from outside of the nation, and especially someone who isn't noble-born or raised was just about suicide. The notion of any queen or princess fucking the grizzled warrior or party bard in any monarchical setting makes me buttmad.
ESPECIALLY in the Napoelonic era, where Absolute Monarchs verged on fucking divine and the divide between city-workers and high nobility was legitimately like ants to a lion. Even screwing a low noble from inside the nation like a Baron was distasteful unless the dude was a veritable napoleon or something.
>>
>>36510834
Well, she couldn't do shit except trick particularly dumb mermaids until she got the Trident. So I suppose so.
>>
>>36510864
There are some records of Absolute Monarchs marrying low nobility (aside from medieval tales of knights winning princess's hearts), but I agree with this post for the most part. Marrying anyone under a Duke as a monarch was a surefire scandal unless the guy was somehow super-exceptional.

>>
>>36511650

---Equipment---

(Divine) TRITON’S TRIDENT

+20 to all acts of magic

+10 to All Stats

+10 Strikes

Enables “Size Change”
Enables “Overwhelming Magic”
Enables “Call to the Storms”
Enables “Master of the Seas”
Enables “Proof of Kingship”

-Size Change (Divine)
This unit can freely manipulate their form and size, and gain the appropriate bonuses and penalties of said sizes. (Giant Ursula rises above the water. Loses her Merfolk bonus.)

-Overwhelming Magic
This unit can roll Occult+Intelligence+Ranged/Melee in order to execute a magical attack

-Call to the Storms (Divine)
This unit can freely manipulate the weather of the ocean and call down rain, hail, wind, lightning and waves on any point in their territory. All units caught in the Storm, if on any sort of vehicle, must roll a Driving/Travel and Endure test not to be knocked off. TN depends on the intensity of the Storm.

-Master of the Seas (Divine)
This unit can freely control the tides, waves and currents of the ocean. The unit can summon tsunamis, whirpools and typhoons to the battlefield or any point in their territory. If characters are caught in the waves and not on any form of vehicle, they must roll an Athletics+Endure check. TN depends on the intensity of the Waves

-Proof of Kingship
This is the mark of the land’s King. The unit holding this item is recognized as the KING or QUEEN of the Land, and can dictate the Rule.

>>36511650
You gave her Villain stats.
She's weaker than Alameda Slim.
She needs to be stronger in attributes and Strikes.
The Trident is a little bit too overpowered. +5 or 6 in all stats would be better.
Look at this page for examples.

>>
>>36511896
>>36511870

That was sort of the point though. Ursula's no hot shit, the trident is. That shit's Divine, it's supposed to be OP, I guess

I mean, I always assumed that if a party could separate her from the Trident then bam, win, so....yeah
>>
>>36511949
>>36511945
Oh yeah. Nevermind.
Ursula is 100% A-OK anon. Good job.
>>
>>36512023

Not really, I am gonna finish her up once I get back online.

Also, since I said I'd do it yesterday guys, I'll also go and give Maleficent some small boosts.

Fire Breath now uses Occult+Intelligence+Robustness+Ranged to deal damage

Her staff, if still with her when she transforms, gives +5 to "Fire Breath"

New power: ALL THE POWERS OF HELL
Spend all remaining will points. Obtain a +7 boost to all rolls until the end of the scene. If no Will Points remain, obtain a +4 to the next attack only.

Sounds good?
>>
>>36512328
Sí mi amigo.

So I have been poking around these threads for a few days trying to think of some way to contribute. Would a possible good idea for Olympia/Hades be (borrowing from actual greek myth) the idea of Persephone still being free alongside Hades and perhaps being someone that the heroes could convince to help them against him? She could have been around but be unwilling to act directly against Hades until a group of heroes convinces her to do so.
>>
>>36512784
Well, that sounds like a fine suggestion for our rumor mill. If you wanna write up Persephone in Rumor Mill fashion, whoever manages it will probably add it in whenever he comes back from the dead.
>>
Alright, I've boosted up Maleficent.

Seriously though, I cannot, for the life of me, think of powers for Ursula. I haven't even seen the Little Mermaid, for fuck's sake

If somebody c ould suggest some here so we can get her something aside the Trident, that's be amazing

>>36512784

I was actually hoping to give it a go tomorrow, I have really quite enjoyed everything that has been put out so far for this system. Has any info on the Tier/Location for the next test been put up?

also incoming Persephone Rumor dump.

Persephone
Alive and married to Hades Persephone has stood beside the new King of Olympus much as she did when he was merely the King of the Underworld however the ever increasing damage to the world around them by the Titans and Hades' unwillingness to reign them in is a constant source of contention between them and time has worn away much of the love between them.

Oocasionally she will step down from Olympus and attempt to fix some of the damage that has been done to the world bringing growth and life wherever she roams though the lands despoiled by the Titans are still quite beyond her power to fix.

During one of her ventures down from Olympus or perhaps if the heroes are brave enough to venture up to Olympus themselves they might encounter her and might stand a chance of convincing her to aid them against the God-King of Olympia

WHY ARE ELSA'S ATTRIBUTES SO FUCKING BAD. HER POWERS ARE WEAK SHIT TOO COMPARED TO EVERYONE ELSE.
WHY IS SHAN YU SO FUCKING STRONG

AGH
THIS IS AWFUL

Elsa needs a pretty major fucking buff, she's weak as shit. The Horned King should be considerably weaker than her, but even without artifacts he beats her by a mile and equals maleficent.
Balance the fucking stats, jesus christ. We established powerlevels for the last two threads, enact them.
>>
>>36514843

Past thread arguments concerning Elsa tried to bring her down to just being a normal human that just happened to have ice powers, because if she was made too powerful then it looks like the ghosts of /frz/ are boosting up their waifu.
>>
>>36514880
There was literally one troll screaming about /frz/ and shit when we drove them off ten threads back. Fuck. Just because everyone is terrified of waifufaggotry now doesn't mean we should we should make Elsa weaker than fucking ALMADEA SLIM. Nigger is literally the most powerful all-natural human in the world.
>>
>>36514922
Beyond her ice powers, she has nothing. She's not a big muscular cowboy, she's not a warrior-warlock Deathlord, she's not the Mistress of All Evil. Though I will agree with you that Kaa needs to be toned down; other than Charm, his mental stats shouldn't be very high.
>>
>>36514843

Because Shan Yu is a Hun Warlord, and a pretty damn smart one to boot, of course he's gonna be strong as fuck. He's immortal, too.

Kaa only has social shit to his name, really. Maleficent has a lot more variety, and turns into a motherfucking Dragon

Elsa has a lot of magical power but she's still just kind of a princess. She isn't shown swinging a sword or running through a country or even riding horses. I mean, she has kind of been locked into her room for many years

I don't see much of a problem
>>
>>36514922
He's the best Bard in a world where music is the best thing to attack or boost stats with.
Nigga has a right to be the strongest all-natural human.
Elsa could be stronger though.
>>
>>36515026
The Horned King is literally a magically-held together skeleton that hates music and culture and nice things. Why in the fuck does he have INT:18, CHA:17 and SEN:16? Because it needs to be balanced. We should apply that same balancing to ALL of the top-tier kings.
>>36515031
Does not explain Shan Yu's INT:14, SEN:11 or AGI:11. Or Kaa's SEN:18. Seriously what the fuck

Elsa needs a boost to CHA at least, and probably one to INT and SEN/AGI as well. Her stats are fucking 25 below those we've established as roughly equal powerlevel, even in retard-crazy state.

>>36515106

>Does not explain Shan Yu's INT:14, SEN:11 or AGI:11. Or Kaa's SEN:18. Seriously what the fuck

Uh, how? Shan Yu's smart, and pretty much the whole Hun army could track shit and were in general pretty addept at sensing and figuring out things from small details. Unless I'm mistaken on what Sensibility actually does.

I do agree that the Horned King having more Charm than Elsa is bullshit though

I would slap an 8 on that nigga, and tell him to be happy about it
>>
>>36515138

he relys through fear tactics.

Also,
>KAA
>Robustness: 5
>Agility: 12
If he were a small snake, I wouldn't think twice of it, but a python large enough to eat a ten year old boy is going to have a Robustness much higher than its Agility.
>>
>>36515191

This.

In the movie Kaa actually moved pretty damn slow, but he carried Mowgli on his coils no problem

I'd swap Robustness with Agility, or at least change it to something like....

Robustness: 12
Agility: 9
Intelligence: 16
Sensibility: 15
Charm: 19
>>
>>36514843
There's no balancing because there's no real consensus on how stats should work. If we could agree on a standard maximum total for Kings we might get somewhere.
>>
>>36515159
I thought Frozen was pretty good, but I'm interested in balance, not waifufaggotry.

>>36515169
Fair point on the SEN. However, his AGI should still not be that high (Maybe 9), and his INT should probably be 12.
>>36515187
That's Robust.

I'd suggest for Elsa:
Robustness: 8
Agility: 12
Intelligence: 18
Sensibility: 12
Charm: 19
= 69. That puts her about where she should be stat-wise. I think her SEN is a bit too high and AGI would be better at 10, but it's more balanced like this. CHA and INT should be up there for a highly-educated elegant Queen groomed her entire life to be tactical and cunning, while still maintaining an elegant stance. Even in retard-crazy state.
>>
>>36515256
Those stats seem more like 'redeemed' Elsa than crazy. I'm no crunch guy, but that does make it look more balanced considering most other high-power Kings are 70-75. I dunno.

>his AGI should still not be that high (Maybe 9), and his INT should probably be 12.

I disagree with the AGI; he's pretty damn fast for his size, and his agility is nothing to laugh about either. Hell, his whole thing is being a combat monster even in the movie.

You might have a case for the INT though. I think it is sorta low for him but who knows

>CHA and INT should be up there for a highly-educated elegant Queen groomed her entire life to be tactical and cunning, while still maintaining an elegant stance

Alright, I'm gonna need some source on that, because we didn't really get that in the movie

I'd say boost her Sensibility instead and take her INT down just a peg. She wasn't a master strategist, but she was pretty quick about pointing out that Anna was going full retard pretty quickly and picked up on things pretty fast as well
>>
>>36515256
i would suggest that the longer the fight gets the colder the area gets for the hereos - sapping their stats.
if at any point one of their stats reaches zero they start taking strikes every x minutes

Nigga have you seen the movie? Or know anything about History?
The entire first quarter of the movie is displaying that Elsa is intelligent and graceful, and we can infer from history that as the heir apparent, she was being taught since age like 9 tactics, diplomatic conduct and leadership. It obviously stuck because she acts like a queen and shit at coronation and people respect her authority and whatnot right until she goes full MUH ICE. The only reason she rejected Anna's marriage is because Anna has a SEN score of maybe two. The entire other three quarters of the movie display that Elsa has shit fucking SEN, she retreats into her own shit the instant she fucks everything up and can't see that everything is collapsing around her. Any Absolute Monarch in a Napoleonic-era nation would have an INT and CHA scores that are reasonably high- one that's actually good at it, like it's implied heavily that Elsa is, would have high-ass scores.

More importantly, BALANCE
>>
>>36515478
>BALANCE
I'm sorry, when did we agree that all the kings had to be equal?
>>
>>36515365
I like this, but maybe we should just make it that whenever her emotions rise everything gets cold until someone snaps her out of being totally insane. Could be cool for out-of-combat too.
>>36515333
My Napoleonboner tells me that anyone trained as an Absolute Monarch would be, effectively, a master strategist. High Intelligence and Charm scores make sense according to the tiny man in a french foreign legion uniform here.
>>
>>36515478
Kings are not balanced against each other.

>>36515555
Elsa was likely never expected to seriously take the throne, her father would have lived for another ~30 years without the storm and she'd have been married off by then if we're going for 'historical accuracy'.
>>
>>36515478

Alright, alright, fair enough. I was leaving the usual royalty teachings to the side though because, y'know, disney. But we've already manipulated a lot of other characters so this is by no means too far fetched.

However, there is also one detail that I think is worth noting, and this goes for everybody:

She's bat-shit insane.

Maybe not cray cray, but she IS struck in the mother of all "I don't give a fuck, leave me alone" spirals. If that wouldn't dump her Charisma, I don't know what would, since she'd be more itnerested in making people GO AWAY more than anything and I don't think that at first she would be too keen on being logical about it.

Maybe what we could do is make two or so different stat spreads for her? One for her starting phase, when she only has her lonely frozen fucks to not give, one for when the PCs get through to her at first, and one when she's actually back?

That would make things sorta complicated, but hey. It's something, right?
>>
>>36515503
We get it, you want Horned King to be more powerful than everyone else ever because of your raging hardon for those shitty books. We're making a game system here, and the established strength we've made states that certain Kings should be more powerful than others. Elsa wasn't one we decided to make weak as shit.

WEEOO WEOO MY HISTORICAL INACCURACY ALARM IS BLARING

In the movie, the nameless King and Queen died when both daughters were young as fuck, like, as in Elsa was nine. There would have been a regency council and, as Elsa would have been the next in line under an Agnatic-Cogniatic line, she would have been heavily tutored in military leadership, tactics, general leadership, and dealing with diplomats and whatnot. Anna would have been the one trained in sewing and poetry and other girly shit, which is represented in how Elsa acts like a reserved leader as was expected and trained in her, while Anna is more like 'fuck everything' because her only responsibility is to marry someone with power. Elsa would have all the training and probably even know hunting and other 'manly' trainings, as she was basically expected to be a King with a vagina.
>>
>>36515663
Elsa stayed locked up inside for like, 80% of her career. I don't believe you.
>>
>>36515663

Okay, that's fair enough, but let's get in a compromise here. This is still Disney, they probably didn't drill ALL that shit into her.

Boost up her Cha and Int, but I'm calling shenanigans on most of the other stuff
>>
>>36515699
That doesn't mean she can't get training. On the contrary, it probably means she's been doing it a lot; it's not like she has anything else to do.
>>
>>36515586
Also I like this idea. It better represents how she would be like 'go away' but have all that military and diplomatic training remembered in a more sane state.
>>36515699
Come on mate, she wasn't just locked in her room alone with no food or water for 12 years and then came out with knowledge of regal conduct at the Coronation and be able to not lose her shit. No loyal Regency Council would allow the next ruler of the nation to go untrained in how to ride a horse at the forefront of an army, not accidentally declare war on France and learn all 900 rules for expressing superiority and dominance while using a salad fork. Like I said: King with a vagina.
>>
>>36515755

Oh, come on now, when did Disney kings ever do that shit? Triton went to face Ursula alone, by himself, when he figured out Ariel was in trouble. We can't slap EVERYTHING that real life would give her in here

I say give her the know-how but not the physical capacity or too much experience. She's too thin in the movie to have a lot of robustness unless she downs ice armor or something
>>
>>36515716
Disney is horrible about Historical accuracy 99% of the time, and Frozen is no exception - the soldiers are using some kind of retarded crossbow-thing despite solid rifles existing for quite some time over even muskets, Hans using a fucking arming sword instead of a Rapier, etc etc - but they did get the Social etiquette and regal attitudes pretty right. It's safe to assume that Elsa had pretty damn strict training in acting like a King for ambassadors and soldiers, and most likely in some form of tactics/hunting/holding a rifle to display herself as a form of 'powerful' ruler.

Ugh, maybe I know too much about history. I shouldn't be able to list mid-1800s regency raising of a female heir apparent in such detail of the top of my head.

>>
>>36515800
Whoah, Robustness? No, she's still a Queen and not a king, she's not weightlifting every day or anything. The vast majority of Kings/Queens that weren't Louis XIV hunted because it was popular, not because the enjoyed or were particularly good at it. Her robustness should still be 8, raising a royal child focuses on making them a leader first and foremost, not a soldier. Anything that looks like that is for appearance's sake alone. Any good regent knows that appearances matter way more than what you're actually doing.

Also it's not like 'hunting' is a skill. It does give good justification for those Athletics points she has, though.

>>36515833

Kind of, yeah. If Nob's point of the King dying late in the reign was true then Elsa probably would have never seen a weapon in her life, but since they died really early she's probably shot a rifle once or twice. Not that it matters whatsoever, she's hardly trained in it and not gonna be using a rifle in combat, kek. There's also not a 'hunting' skill.

>>36515878

Consumerism and the idea of 'sales' and commercialization began in the early 18th century with the beginning of the industriOUS revolution (NOT INDUSTRIAL), so the big dude selling all that stuff in his shack could have theoretically existed in correlation with the near-total urbanization of the period.
His sweater, however, was not made of material that would have existed at that time period. It would more likely have been fur or some form of cotton/wool mesh coating.

>>
>>36514843
A large part of why Elsa has such low stats is that she used to have much higher Sensibility, but that didn't really fit her character as being insane, so I reduced her sensibility by 5 or so, but gave her a trait that gave her an effective +10 to defending against social rolls, which is the primary combat use of sensibility for a character only using it defensively (who didn't build around it).

Also, much as I hate to point this out, the Bard/Elsa dicking could totally occur when you consider her innate desire to rebel against the rigidly structured system in which she grew up. She would have been bound to marry a noble, but now that the world has gone to hell, there aren't many nobles left, and she is under no pressure not to marry for love, or at least accept a dicking from a friendly Bard. Plus, who is really going to make a scandal out of it? Do you really want to make the fucking Snow Queen mad? Also, hers is the only Napoleonic kingdom in Europe.

I reference my last post: the last time someone used the word 'dick' and 'Elsa' in the same sentence, three entire threads were ruined.

Also my historical accuracy alarm is off the fucking charts for this one. Maybe for utterly insane Elsa because she's crazy, but when sane, the idea that any Absolute monarch, and one raised on and believing in Napoleonic and Catholic ideals to boot, would loose their virginity to a commoner outsider is crazy.

Still, up to the DM. My ghostly arm of autistic historical accuracy can't stop you from writing fanfiction with your personal group.
>>
>>36516571
As far as we can tell, Elsa didn't seem to especially care about the pressure of marrying anyone (which didn't seem to exist; Elsa seems to be the ruling monarch for all intents and purposes already). The pressure of not breaking down and freezing over an entire region seemed a fair bit more tantamount in her mind.
>>

Did....Did Napoleon even exist in the disney universe?
>>
>>36516680
So fundamentally, we've actually reached a very interesting discussion by means of Elsa dicking discussion: Does (sane) Elsa reject the customs she was raised on and want to leave them now that she can, or does she accept the ideals associated with queenship of her time? I name the side of rejection The Let It Go Theory of Elsa, as opposed to the Regal Queen Theory.

Creepy Elsa dicking discussion spawned interesting character development discussion!
>>
>>36516680
Wait wait, I take that back.

Make that 'Any Absolute Monarch NOT named Catherine'. She's the exception to this otherwise pretty much universal rule. It's mainly because Catherine was one of the biggest scheming manipulators in all of history, though. Monarchs in general were pretty degenerate (not used in the /pol/ way) behind closed doors because a surprising amount were really mad about their arranged marriage, gay, or really fucking weird, but the great notions of Nationalism and compulsions to God and Country had many people during the Napoleonic Era thinking the people in the next country were like flies. Not to even mention if the Bard's not white.
>>36516746
I wish. Frozen is the only solidly Napoleonic-Era film they've made, to my knowledge.
>>
>>36516796

Up to GM.

Making her reject customs she was raised on would go against her film character and any sort of logic. It would also send my Historical Inaccuracy alarm to such high levels it would break my ears.
The idea of an Absolute Monarch rejecting their country or customs in the age of Nationalism is literally unheard of. 'Let it Go' Is a song about immaturity, not maturity. The entire film is about building Waugh's and then Harkknerr's theory, namely that Elsa needs to understand love of Country before she can move on to love of Family and Anna needs to understand love of Family before she can move on to Romantic love (i.e. hans - kristoff).

The fact she's rejecting her nature as a Queen in 'Let it Go' is portrayed as an immature stage she eventually gets over upon understanding familial love, and accepting her own duty and happy obligation to the nation.

Or maybe I am overanalzying. I dunno, that's what I got from it. It's also why I find tumblrites clinging to 'let it go' as a song of rejecting authority/responsibility funny, because it's actually about being immature and something that Elsa gets over as she learns to be a Queen past the education I previously mentioned.

Well, then we could get into a discussion of the fundamental value of maturity as an abstract concept. It is considered a valuable trait as one that allows people to be productive members of society, but then you reach the idea that maturity in excess, the death or suppression of one's inner child, is in fact not truly a virtue at all, but rather a repressed state, in which people are trying to force away any perceptions of immaturity from themselves by distancing themselves from childlike things. This thread is actually an example of the celebration of the childlike at its finest: We are creating a game based on movies for children that we all enjoy creating and playing, not because it contributes to society as a whole, but because we enjoy it and we want to create something for others to enjoy. This fundamentally creates a paradox: attempting to reach maturity by means of rejecting the immature will always turn out negatively, because rather than developing emotionally, you are simply forging a false pretense of development by denying true desires in order to appear responsible. This would ultimately be self-destructive. Obeying rules because they help people is fine, whereas making and obeying a set of rules for no reason other than to be following rules is another thing entirely. Sorry for semi-coherent rant, tired and trying to get a point across don't mix well.

>>
>>36517118
Well, perhaps. What you're describing goes against the theories of Waugh/Harkknerr and, to a greater degree, much of the older philosophies of the Renaissance and arguably many ancient Greek societies.
One of the basic ideas shared between the lot is that everyone has a duty to the nation itself that they must learn to accept, and grow into a love for country (Molded finely into Nationalism by 17th-century Philosophies), and, through Waugh/Harkknerr, that an idea of a Monarch or any other supreme leader is representative of ultimate duty and love to the nation, that the responsibility to the nation is the entire consumption of the Monarch and the Consort, with every action they do n the interest of the nation. Any other loves, Familial, Romantic, Platonic etc are important to the Monarch themselves but ultimately secondary to their duty to the nation. There is no room for childlike states in the Monarch or Consorts- they are the models and leaders of the nation, expected to lead them with all their heart and soul. Immaturity as you describe is abstract - you can be theoretically 'immature' while not being childlike. After all, you could define all non-national loves as immaturity. I really do disagree with the notion that rejection of the metaphorical immature leads to further propagation of immaturity itself. Maturity is, through all arguments, reached through obligation to something other than yourself. I don't know why there is a criticism of lawful stupid at the end of your post.

The entire reason democracy was founded was because the original Greeks had their own original versions of the Pillars of Love (thanks plato), and even before that were all like 'no fuck that shit' and decided that that obligation should be expanded and split instead of being contained within one or two people.

>>36517458

>>
>>36517458

>>
>>36517284
The criticism of lawful stupid is based around the fact that the desire to be "mature" or "adult" often drives people to lawful stupidity, following rules because following rules for their own sake is seen as a part of being a mature individual.

And wasn't democracy founded largely in opposition to the recently overthrown Greek tyrants (which at that point just meant king, it didn't have it's modern connotations, but took them on as democracy grew,) and predated Plato by quite a while?

As for your philosophical argument, it is grounded purely in the nationalistic schools of thought that were prominent to support the people you describe. Looking at eastern philosophy, Confucianism follows the idea that in order to govern others, one must govern oneself. This is heavily linked to the idea of wu wei: action through inaction. The king is intended to be not concerned with the micromanagement of the nation, but with large policies, and to be a focal point around which the nation can revolve. This supports the idea of seeking a level of personal fulfillment for a ruler, as rather than the kingdom being above all else in the life of a king, the king is expected to better himself as a person in order to rule.
>>
>>36517525
Not so certain about that. Too many laws is bad, certainly, but laws are hardly there for their own sake.

Yes, that's why I said it was pre-Plato. Plato expounded upon the reasons, he didn't single-handedly cause democracy to happen.

The Confucian ideal of governing oneself is represented in my argument as well, just in a different form, namely to govern oneself IS to govern others. Also, you just described a Constitutional Monarchy, which fucking suck in my opinion. That's a whole other argument, though. Seeking to better yourself is embedded in betterment of the nation itself - through the consort, the people, and the very nation itself, the monarch learns and embodies and grows as a veritable heart of the people. This pretty much never actually happens because the monarch retreats into themselves (Best example in all of history is the Sun King, lel, ice queen sun king), refusing to embrace the other pillars of love as set by Waugh/Harkknerr.

Let's stop here because this no longer has anything to do with Disney and has moved into 18th Century Nationalist/Monarchist ideals against Confucianist Bureaucratic ones. I have no fucking clue how we got so off-topic so fast.
>>
>>36517615
I wasn't so much referring to laws as personal rules. Things like these include the ideas of etiquette (I am going to be a lady, and not do X, even though X is something that I would enjoy, and would allow me to grow as a human being) or refusing to associate with a certain type of person, which narrows your world and limits you as a person.

No, I'm talking about minor codes of etiquette. The people who are being not associated with are not rapists and murderers, they are the working class, the racial minorities, the people that you walk by on the street tactfully making no eye contact with. Also, the argument that 1700-1890 or so was "fucking awesome" is hardly solid. That is entirely dependent upon where you are socially. People like Louis took it way too far, but a moderate degree of social inequality is always necessary for a functional society. Society just kind of collapses on its head when the window-cleaners start coming to the Duke's ball, it really doesn't work socially. Also every case of nobility trying to act as a people's hero that weren't some sort of national hero/widely celebrated general has ended horrifically. Sad but true. It's part of the reason why Communism is so horrifically flawed, without social dynamics society cannot function. There always has to be an upper, middle and lower class with distinct splits for any sort of civilized society to function. Middle class is kinda wavy, though.

Also, life sucked dick if you were really anywhere that the British decided they were going to just take, such as India or China, and your point of "there have to be poor people" doesn't mean that the upper class should wall itself off from the rest of the population as if it were under constant siege. That does not mean "the window-cleaners start coming to the Duke's ball", you're just extrapolating any position I make to absurdity and refuting the most extreme possible form of it. My point is simply that you look at the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries under a heavily rose-tinted lens glorifies them as being "fucking awesome", when they were really still a time when people shat in buckets and children lost fingers to factory machinery. They had their high points, but they weren't this "fucking awesome" time you make them out to be.

There's one in Wonderland, probably one in Queen La, Bagheera or Kaa's lands too.

I was talking about Europe, not America or China. >>36517772 was not me.

You're combining insults of most of his points with exactly one of mine. I was using a metaphor, not a literal translation or 'extrapolating them most extreme example' but the general idea is that when social classes try and break down that wall, you see collapse of societies. I wasn't attaching an extreme nonexistent point of yours and I'm not sure why you assumed that I was. Also, you're combining 16th-century wall dynamics with 19th-century ones that I am supporting. Seriously man. Come on.

What do people think of a Leopardperson Pseudo-Shaman looking to (one day) depose La for the glory of a truly leopard ruled Opar

why does everyone hate la

Oh, sorry. Did not look at the name.
Also, the siege was just metaphorical. I was referring to the fact the the super-rich live almost entirely in a vacuum in which they almost never interact with the poor, who they treat with fear and suspicion. This is a modern issue as much as a historical one, and just to clarify, there isn't necessarily an actual wall between the rich and the poor, just an metaphorical one.

I think at least basic land 'vehicles'(including mounts) could be fairly easy to do, taking a look at the average speeds of characters will give an idea of how fast something would need to be to really matter if these things end up recieving a baseic speed score, or it could be done in a manner of increasing the characters speed by X amount, larger things such as ships of any sort would be a bit harder to pin a price on though since they tend to move at far greater speeds than what a character could accomplish. If priacy was not so big of a thing it would be easy enough to just say that a ships speed is more or less irrelevant.

If land vehicles act as an enhancement to character speed perhaps larger air/sea vehicles simply have a separate speed value(basic ship would be a 1, wheres the black pearl might be a 4 or something)

I am unsure of how relevant speed will be, but perhaps. Perhaps 1EP gets you +10 to your speed and every extra EP spent nets an additional +5. Some tweaked version of this by those who understand things better could be useful.

I like it. For ships, speed should probably be set so a basic ship is 10 or something, because big merchant ships can be much slower than a basic frigate. Ships should probably have two basic stats: speed, number of people they can hold, and then cannons or other defenses would be written down somewhere as well.

Possibly terrible idea, but I made a Hive Knight exclusive power. It basically turns you into a glass cannon that takes triple strikes and is super agile and good at stinging people. It's intended to be a great way to get yourself killed, as you take triple strikes and have no armor, but you do double strikes, so it's sort of a cool last resort.
-Swarm Form: At the cost of a will point, the hive can be taken out of the armor and the bees can assume their true form as a swarm. In this form, the Hive knight gets triple speed, +8 Agility, does double brawl strikes and has a brawl score of 10, but -8 Robustness, to a minimum of 1, and takes triple damage from physical strikes, as the hive is exposed and the Queen at risk. This lasts up to 4 rounds, at which point the bees can't carry the hive anymore and drop it, leaving you defeated and unable to move unless you are back in your armor. Obviously, you do not get equipment bonuses as a swarm.

So where does the Hive idea come from, exactly? The only Disney movie I can think of that featured a swarm of insects was Winnie the Pooh.

It was a dumb idea I came up with at 3 AM one time, and people liked it. Not much to say, really, except that Nob said he wanted to see being tried out this playtest, which I plan on doing tomorrow.

King - The Friends
Facilier's Friends are voodoo spirits of terrible power and vicious cunning, though they are bound by eternal unbreakable rules. The Friends operate through deals, and even for those who make their unfortunate way to the Other Side, they can only claim the souls of those they have dealt with. Should a pure soul find itself on the Other Side, the Friends will do anything they can to force it into a deal. The Friends have a strict hierarchy, ranking them based on the deals they've made. The more deals, the more souls they can harvest, more power they have, and subsequently the bigger the masks get. Friends often combine their powers for greater effects, sharing the credit of deals when necessary, though they are all ultimately aiming to be the biggest and most powerful Friend. The current largest and most powerful Friend is Facilier's personal agent, and it would be incredibly upset if anyone were to put an end to such a profitable deal. Attracting the attention of the Friends is inevitable on the Other Side, and players traveling through this realm must prepare accordingly through voodoo counter-charms or any other blessings they can find.

Land - The Other Side
The Other Side is a mixture of equal parts chaos and order. Wherever the Friends are welcomed into the material world, a stable mini-world is created, a shadow of the room or chamber where their masks hang. Outside these hovels however is a swirling colorful mess of primal energy, a massive endless voodoo storm. Through breaks in the clouds, one can see the real world bleeding through wherever shadows creep. Players can walk through these cloud gaps as easily as they could in the real world, though the terrain is always shifting. Navigating the semi-formed world is challenging at best, and anyone caught in the chaotic clouds could fall victim to transformation, curses or worse. Additionally, other clouds comprised of pure shadow flow through the storm, blanketing everything they pass through in brief but complete darkness. Due to the mixture of voodoo storm glow and shifting shadows, visibility is a large concern on the Other Side, and players must rely on their senses of smell and hearing to safely navigate in extreme cases.. The Friends tend to congregate in areas where their mortal agents operate, due to the higher odds of getting a deal, though they often travel to keep tabs on debtors who might fail them.

Rule - New Deal
The Friends travel with ease, unaffected by the chaos, and seek out new opportunities constantly. If they encounter players, the Friends will attempt to force the players into a deal by enticing them with visions of their deepest fantasies. Failing that, they will use their servants to frighten their targets, forcing them into the voodoo storm and into a position where they'll have to deal to get out. The only rule is that the Friends cannot directly attack or curse anyone who is not in their debt, and will try any sort of trickery to force a deal. Anyone who has unsettled debts with the Friends can have their soul extracted by any of the spirits; traveling through to the Other Side under such conditions is suicidal. Additionally, the Other Side is literally crawling with the shadow servants of the Friends, a great many of them created from the shadows of harvested debtors. These shadows follow the orders of the Friends who originally claimed their souls, and are the most common tool for trapping the players into deals. Light is the easiest way to dispel the shadows, though also the easiest way to attract the attention of more Friends. The most common way to access the Other Side is through Dr. Facilier and his network of witch doctors offering deals to the unwary or desperate. Players can get through to the Other Side via other voodoo rituals or by making a deal with one of the voodoo masks in the material world, though the latter would doom any foolish enough to do so.
