Mmmmm, this is the best pillow ever. So soft and warm, and it also smells nice too...

...really really nice...

As I begin to question the true nature of this most wonderful pillow, I slowly open my eyes... and I find my blurry field of vision filled with black lace and -something else-. And even though I'd really like to just stay here and enjoy this current situation, I really don't want to do anything that could be misconstrued as shady while Charlotte's little sister is in the other room.

After all the stuff I've been witness to since my parents left me to live alone with Allison, I'm really wary of even the possibility of subjecting anyone else to what I've had to put up with.

...but I'm not -actually- doing anything shady, I'm just resting my head on her chest while she's sleeping. Yeesh, that sounds REALLY shady when I actually put it into words.

But still, this is completely benign so I guess I shouldn't worry about it.

And so, I rest my head back down on Charlotte's "pillows" while wrapping my arms around her so I can make myself nice and comfortable. This is so nice, I might just end up going back to sleep.

But I'm unable to catch myself as I fall backwards, instead rolling over into a ball and falling off the bed entirely with a loud thud. This was not my smoothest move.

"Cecile, are you alright!?" Charlotte shouts as she scrambles over to where I just fell and looks down at me from the edge of the bed.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I groan. "Just a little bump, that's all."

In an attempt bounce back from making myself look like a stupid pervert in front of my girlfriend, I quickly get back to my feet and grab my glasses from off the nightstand, then dust myself off like nothing happened.

"Uh... good morning!" I say, putting on my best cheerful smile.

I just wish that I'd been wearing my glasses when that happened, now my memories of it are all blurry.

That's really shoddy reasoning. I mean, think about it. Charlotte just smells when someone feels guilty. She doesn't have a lie detector that would tell her the whole and full truth about anything. If Cecile had just said sorry for keeping the single book a secret, and never mentioned the second book, Charlotte would have just assumed that Cecile was still feeling guilty about the lies she had come clean about recently. This would definitely work in that conversation because, you know, the smell would still be there in the air. And it would likely work in subsequent conversations as well, because it's perfectly plausible for Cecile to still feel guilty about lying down the line.
