You were supposed to be resting in bed after your grueling battle with the Resplendent Phoenix Society member, recuperating from your wounds. While Hong Lan was not nearly as brutal as Qiu Qiang, neither were her Attacks gentle, and more of them hit you then the Iron Pall Sect Chief's.

Your local medical expert, Zhu'er, had strongly advised rest and recuperation so your wounds could heal.

Of course it being YOU you'd gone stir-crazy in your room and had gone outside with Duan Lei to practice your saberwork, bandages and all.

"Seriously Bro, maybe fighting while injured is pushing it?" he says as he dodges a sword-thrust and moves in with an overhead chop you dodge by leaping lightly away from.

"This is barely a scratch man, worry about yourself!" you say, pushing him back with a few slashes of your own. You think you're getting the hang of Carefree Saber now.

"It looked like she got you pretty good when you were fighting though...," he says, clearly unsure, though it doesn't stop him from lightly parrying your blade and going for your right side with his, forcing you to flip over the strike to his rear, launching into a spinning clockwise slash which he deftly parties without turning around.

"Honestly I was banged up worse with Qiang," you admit, wincing a little.

"He only hit you once I thought?"

"Yeah, but that hit HURT. Plus going through Form Three really put my body in bad shape. Guess you live and learn, huh?"

"I'm still surprised Zhu'er let you out to fight even all patched up," he says, spinning aside to face you as he blocks your blow and leaping back, ready for your next assault.

"Not in so many words?" you admit sheepishly as you block several strikes before leaping back and kicking off the trunk of the tree and going sailing over his head to land on a talk stone sticking out of the koi pond. He swiftly leaps over to match your elevation on a stone opposite to you.

"Bro, come on!" he says in an annoyed tone as your practicr duel continues, blades meeting over the water.

"Well, it's not like I need it THA much obviously! One night of her medical treatments and I'm okay enough to fight you! Besides, I need your help working on my saber skills and since you're the only saber-fighter I know I figured...,"

Lei follows you, blade meeting yours as you switch to sword forms to play defensive for awhile.

I mean, I'd like our bro to be happy but the girl is already married and he seems to be, if not over it, at least to have moved past the incident. Plenty of fish in the sea and all that, I'm sure he'll find another.

That said, I would like to talk to Lan about her motivations in doing that. Not to try and get Lei and Lanfen back together, just to find out more about... well, Lan herself. She clearly had reasons for poisoning that relationship, and I'd like to know her outlook on the whole thing.

At the very beginning of the story we threw some money at our best friend and his wife and told them that they had to leave the village and build a new life elsewhere because reasons, then ran away.

Not a pun, it's just literally the closest English word to the Mandarin word.
Character-based languages are both very vague sometimes and can also be EXTREMELY specific when necessary.

The Chinese word for "condor" is different from "eagle" because the character for eagle refers to a very specific animal, and if it's not that animal you're using the wrong character.

This is why you see a lot of weird Engrish loan-words in Japanese even decades after we stopped occupying them, especially for slang; English is more flexible a language in use then most character-based languages.

You'd have to ask someone who knows better Mandarin. I know a good deal of Japanese however, and though the languages are extremely dissimilar in sound and spelling it has similar problems with making "new" words. Chinese has it worse because it has a very tightly unified character set because it needs to be translatable for both Mandarin AND Cantonese with a single character set. As far as it's been explained to me though it's similar to condor so that's how it translates.

"I will discuss this with the Resplendent Phoenix Society, Yuan Shanli," she says cooly with a bow. "But on trying to persuade Hero Sky, I must remind you that dealing with him in such a manner is like trying to catch lightning; there IS no safe way to hold it."

Shanli looks around as well, and suddenly he nods his head at a copse of bushes nearby, where you immediately hide!

The trio comes up, and halts when they approach Yuan Shanli after recognizing his presence.

"Lord Yuan! We didn't mean to-" Dragon Princess says with a bow, before Shanli interrupts her.

"Looking for Hero Lightning Tiger?" he asks, still amused, and the three are silent as his acute observation. "Hong Lan was too. He went that way back into the palace. Hong Lan should be reaching him too in a minute."


"Oh, like HELL she will!" Zhu'er says and all three dash off, continuing to argue.

Shanli laughs quietly. "Okay, you can come out now. Quite a handful you have there Hero Sky," he says as you rise up, brushing leaves off yourself.

Actually Kamushin was born out of something of a joke, albiet a strange one onmy part.

The literal translation of famous Wuxia novel Legend of the Condor Heroes is something like "Story of the Eagle-Shooting Hero".
When I originally saw that I thought it said "surfing", not shooting.

Thus Sky is an Eagle-Surfing Hero, heh.

Basically the idea is to make sure he doesn't go for underhanded stuff, as well as having him spare our life if we lose to him. Dialog might need some work
