You honestly don’t know why you’re here, you aren’t particularly committed to the cause, and you don’t hate the fey either, beyond the usual dislike anyone would feel for immortal inhuman creatures that can snuff out lesser beings with a thought.

As you watch out for anyone sneaking up behind you, you wonder why there’s no alarms going off, surely the Gifted must have alerted the guards of this place?

Suddenly a loud klaxon starts blaring “Move it!” yells Charun, he Rhydian and Dev struggle to run under the heavy weights of their packs.

Maybe it’s because you’re in such a rush that no one notices the guards coming the other way. The two groups barrel into one another full speed and everyone goes flying. You all get to your feet a little stunned and then you start shooting at each other only a few yards apart. Fortunately you and Charun are pretty fast on the draw, and you both kill a guard apiece, You poke a bloody hole in one with your gun and Charuns plasma pistol reduces another guard to a mess of charred flesh.

Unfortunately the third guard gets a shot off before you can finish him, and Rhydian falls down, bellowing in pain.

Dev tries to pick him up but Rhydian just yells in pain. Charuns face suddenly looks cold and hard, as if he’s going to have to make a harsh decision.

“Leave him” he says to Dev.

“What?” says Dev “He’s wounded.”

“I know” says Charun “And we’re leaving, guards are coming.”

You can hear running footsteps approaching. You might be able to hold them off long enough for someone to stop Rhydians bleeding, allowing you all to flee, or you could tend to him yourself, or you could follow Charuns order to leave him behind.

Diplomancing by itself isn't a terrible thing. Its just that so many /tg/ characters focus on it that iot becomes overdone. And focusing on diplomacy does force your character into a nieche after a while, not just ability wise, but also personality wise. Which other abilties don't in the same way.

Charun pushes Rainya “Get out of the way, let me drive!” Together in the truck you speed off, Dev holds Rhydian as still as he can, as you and Rainya fire on the pursuing vehicles. Rainya fires off a lot of bullets but her shots go wild.

You breathe evenly, you were taught to shoot no matter the distractions. The shaking of the truck, the noises, your own panic, it all falls away as you gently squeeze *bang* and the tyre of the lead chasing vehicle explodes, the vehicle slewing sideways, one of the other cars crashes into it as other swerve around it and keep chasing.

Charun drives like a madman, the truck screeches around corners and smashes through makeshift shacks, a plume of dust ploughed up in its wake. Between his driving and you shooting the tyres out of the chasing cars you make it to the edge of Dust Town proper, where hopefully, the guards won’t follow.

Charun pulls the truck up off the road “Time to bail and run” he says.

You’re on the edge of Dust Town. You could keep going and hope to lose them, or ditch the vehicle and run places theirs can’t go either, but if you do you’ll need a rear guard and someone to scout ahead. And Rhydian is still wounded.

Despite his argument he revs the engine and continues into the collection of shacks and lean-tos that make up Dust Town.

After a few minutes you can see the vehicles turn around and leave, seems they aren’t too keen on being out in Dust Town this late either.

“This is a bad idea” says Charun pessimistically “mark my words, it’ll turn out bad.”

“They can track us” jeers Rainya, clearly riding the adrenaline high “Not even if they had a dozen vamps! No one knows the Dust like dusters.”

“Someone told me you used to be all chummy with the vampires, Shee” croaks Rhydian from his place in the back seat “Date one didja?”
