You are Blanc. CPU White Heart, patron goddess of Lowee and all things Nintendo, and most assuredly NOT some short, sturdy creature fond of drink and industry.

Right now, you're facing off against what's commonly known as a "fearmonger"- an adventurer (freelancer, in this case) whose powers tend toward pants-wetting horror. They're borderline psychopaths and paranoid as all hell; if you send 'em on any non-combat mission involving civilians, the end result will be traumatized, screaming children and more tears than shares.

And those are the WELL-ADJUSTED fearmongers. Like Vio and Shizuoka, whose answer to everything, from rampaging dogoos to loose shoelaces, involves liberal application of high-yield explosives. But like all fearmongers, they've got ingrained knowledge of how to scare their enemies shitless- divide and conquer, shadows at the corners of their vision, and, above all else, subtlety.

/This/ one, the one you're fighting, is falling apart at the seams- maybe already was, to be mad enough to attack visiting adventurers in YOUR city. She's scrabbling backwards, screaming nonsense, and hurling out car-sized blobs of pure midnight at a stupid rate, about three times the number required to label her a public menace. Enough weird shadowy shit's skittering around at the edges of your vision to make you feel like a giddy trigger-happy kid in a target-rich environment, and the whole situation's got a distinct sideshow feel to it- the metal scraps and shreds of felt fur flying around don't help, like it's all a twisted amusement park's idea of confetti.

You kinda get the sense that she wasn't planning to fight two goddesses all at the same time, but today's her unlucky day- she's clearly got a few screws loose, and you're more than willing to help hammer them back in.

Howling with bloodlust and mad glee, you launch yourself straight into the middle of the fray, your CPU-personified powers giving you the strength and speed needed to close the distance at a frightening rate. You swing your war hammer, quick enough to pop dozens of midnight blobs with each pass and hard enough to crack the pavement, the noise temporarily overpowering the screams of Arturia and Lee-Fi. Neptune's right behind you, wielding that ridiculous weapon of hers, the bastard child of a construction girder and a zweihander; trading power for speed, she slices with surgical precision, cutting up any shadowy tendrils seeking to draw you into the dark spheres. Together, you quickly approach the fearmonger, closing in fast enough to see her eyes widen in terror-

- and then Neptune gets her fool ass dragged into a midnight blob, disappearing with an ungraceful yelp.

[ ] [KEEP GOING] Neptune can take care of herself. Destroy the boss, and it'll all work out! Probably.
[ ] [DIVE IN] Make a detour to save Neptune's stupid ass. She's your eternal rival, after all.
[ ] [POP] Destroy the midnight sphere that trapped Neptune, because you don't have time for this AND you still need her help. She's survived worse!

Of course. Of COURSE something like this would happen. It's almost a freakin' ironclad rule of Gamindustri physics: the sun rises in the morning, the planet orbits the sun, and CPU Purple Heart inevitably does something absolutely retarded. It's like clockwork.

You don't have time to mess about- the last thing you want is for the fearmonger to escape without answering for her crimes (or at least major annoyances), because you KNOW she'll take any opportunity to slink off into the shadows or whatever. On the other hand, you can't just leave Neptune out to dry- she's your eternal rival, your eternal pain in the ass, and an eternal moron, all with an emphasis on "eternal."

So you do what comes most naturally: you wind up your ridiculously huge war hammer and slam it into the side of the midnight blob, with predictable results: it explodes into a mess of black ectoplasm, shreds of synthetic fur, and one disoriented goddess who lands flat on her ass, skids ten yards over the ground, and lands in an ungraceful tangle of limbs and long purple hair.

"That was /not/ necessary," Neptune grumbles petulantly.

Necessary? Hell no. But it was /funny/.

"Funny. Right." CPU Purple Heart whips herself up off the ground in a beautifully executed spin that takes her back to your position; her sword flashes in the light, and the midnight blobs around her are shredded into ribbons. It's hella close- you feel the wind whipping your hair as her sword passes by, but you don't give her the satisfaction of seeing you duck.

Instead, you bare your teeth in a savage grin and kick off the ground. The fearmonger hisses and tries to duck away, screaming something that you're FAIRLY sure is just "S̺̝̠h̖͇̟̻̲í̪̝̖̬̣̠̙t̻̘͖̭͞ͅ ͚͍̰͇̞̺͉şh͈͓̦̹̖̫̞́i̜̝̣̼̟͎̕t͎͡ ̰̹̫̼͈̹s̕h̷̰͙̼̮̯ͅí̱̱̼̜̹͍tͅ ̰̯s̶̭͎̼̩̻h̼͘i̡͕̙t̪̲̳̹͔͎-̧͔̘," but you're all over her sorry ass like white on rice.

T-minus two seconds to impact, you see the dapper-looking fearmonger caught between her fight and flight instincts- she's hunched over like she's about to spring away, but her colorful hand puppets are rearing up like they've got a mind of their own, looking distinctly more nightmarish as layers and layers of /child-friendliness/ seem to slough off their backs. Her right arm's already startin' to wind up as if for a right hook- at that speed, she's bound to have a hell of a jump scare. You bet that's how this unassuming-looking dandy took those two blooded veteran adventurers right off-guard.

Against a goddess like yourself, she doesn't stand a ghost of a chance.

You tilt your head slightly to the left, and a howling specter in the form of a purple hellbunny screams right past you- you ignore it with ease. In the same motion, you stop yourself cold and allow all your momentum to bleed into your war hammer, its reassuring weight swinging around. There's a sickening crunch as your opponent's body takes the full force of the impact, and you can FEEL the snapping bones and probable liquefying of a few unimportant organs in the process, and then she's flung away with a ragged screech.

Really, there are few things sweeter than the screams of someone who had this shit coming.

Now that the mind controlling them is REALLY preoccupied, the midnight blobs bubble, fizz, and then dissipate pretty much immediately, leaving you standing in what looks like the aftermath of a localized natural disaster, and standing over a bloody mess of a young girl.

CPU Purple Heart approaches you from behind, her footsteps seeming to echo loudly in the sudden silence. She doesn’t say anything, but you KNOW she’s looking at you with those damn judging eyes of hers, wondering when you became so damn brutal. And then you’d have to tell her that sorry, tough shit, times change and you’ve learned your lesson about being too lax and merciful to people who might want to murder you, and then Neptune would start going on about how you shouldn’t be so damn paranoid about Arfoire and all that jazz-

You glance back at Neptune, and are pleasantly surprised when she… nods her understanding. So you simply grunt and haul the fearmonger’s broken body up by her good arm, turning your attention to what your next step should be.

[ ] [INTERROGATE] Alright, little miss fearmonger, cough it up. Why’d she have to start shit, huh? In your town, on your turf, and so on and so forth?
[ ] [SHADOWRUNS] It’s got something to do with Arfoire, isn’t it? It’s /always/ Arfoire. You KNOW it’s Arfoire. If it’s not Arfoire, you’ll look silly, but you can’t take that chance.
[ ] [MURDER HEART] Forget the questions. Break the fearmonger’s other arm. That’ll get her talking of her own accord.
[ ] [CHECK UP] Check on the fearmonger’s victims, Arturia and Lee-Fi. They were the ones who were first attacked, and then WERE screaming up a storm back there.

Having context and their side of things will severely limit the amount of wriggle room she has to lie.

And IF Arfoire is involved, they're be lies. I mean, it's always possible this isn't connected to Arfoire, like some new group trying to cause problems before swooping in to fix them. Like a competitor to the Adventurer's Guild, of something. See how useless it is? But this new Guild will fix everything! Oooo, we caught everyone and now are going to rehabilitate them and then quietly give them sweet desk jobs.

Maaaaaybe?
I mean, it depends I think if this is a personification of a developer or a games series. After all, the developer went from fairly unpopular Christian titles with a few other things to extremely popular horror stuff. That could be show as snapping for a personification. Tried to be the good little adventurer, it never worked, turned to evil.

In which case, the more harsh and violent we are, the more we reinforce that they would never be given a real chance, and could actually stiffen resistance.

Wheras being seen as harsh but just might give some hope of redemption which would play into the underlying character themes.

If it's just the Five Nights games and not the developer, well, then ultraviolence might not hurt.
>>
>>37054717
>[ ] [INTERROGATE]
>>
>>37055079
Well-they're an adventurer right? I though the developers would be goddess-tier. I figure they're just like Estelle or Dorf Fort-chan and therefore representative of /every aspect of FNAF/.

I'm 99% they'll just giggle at anything apart from necessary violence.
>>
>>37055182
Actually, in main Hyperdimension Neptunia, most adventurers and stuff are companies. Only Consoles are Goddesses.

But big name titles, usually series, got splitt of into their own, usually because several of them come from one company (like Capcom) and having one personification mixing those things would be strange. So it's a weird mix.

In theory, Urist might actually also embody Bay 12 Game's other games, but Dwarf Fortress so overshadows it, it makes up a majority of her character.

It depends on how Blorp wants to write them up. Certainly games are easier to encapsulate in a character.
>>
>>37055079
>>37055079
>>37055182
>>37055269
I generally stick to just games/series, partly because of how I've got the setting set up; a lot of the inspiration for the quest came from Hyperdevotion Noire, whose big gimmick is personifications of game series. Game company personifications aren't really going to be a thing, since it would just get too weird/complicated (Mojang's sort of an outlier, since I came up with the name before I really got the setting in stone).

>Certainly games are easier to encapsulate in a character.

I'm not going to lie, that's a really big reason for it, too.

So, does anything represent Steam? Some freelancer organization?
>>
>>37055377
Yeah. I figured you hadn't explicitly stated it so they'd mostly be the game, but could take greater aspects as you thought something would be cool if in an indie dev mostly known for the game series currently shown.

Since you have, however, stated their games, change my Check Up/Interrogate to Check Up/Murderogate.

Because I like ultraviolence. Especially against Jump Scares.

It’s been a long while since you got to engage in some good old fashioned hands-on bare-fisted knuckle-dusting. So even as a part of you seethes in righteous fury, another part of you wonders idly about whether you’re sliding into brutal dictator territory, and yet another part of you despairs over ever having a quiet morning to yourself, the rest of you is REALLY looking forward to the upcoming fun and games.

The dapper-looking fearmonger is no slouch in the height department- she’s not only taller than you (which ain’t hard to accomplish), but she beats you by about a head or so. That makes absolutely no difference as you manhandle the fearmonger over to a convenient wall and gently set her up against it, getting blood absolutely everywhere (especially onto your fashionable one-piece CPU outfit, but you’re sure that only adds to your roguish charm).

You’re gonna dispense with the introductions, you growl. She knows who you and your dorky compatriot are, yeah?

It’s absolutely bizarre how her non sequitirs remain exactly the same whether she’s transformed or not. You shake your head and keep talking to the fearmonger, forcing down another pang of annoyance. Anyway, what you’re getting at is that you can do some pretty nasty shit without everything going horribly messy. It’s almost like there’s some sort of internal censorship law that makes sure that everything stays nice and clean, unless over-the-top violence is coded into the fiber of an adventurer’s very being.

… you shake off a sudden memory of that little dwarf girl who’s hanging around with Estelle nowadays.

Slamming someone with a war hammer? It fucks someone up bad and hurts like /hell/, but y’know, the results aren’t that /visible/ in this bullshit moe land of cuteness. That’s… that’s singularly unhelpful. With a sigh, you begin the long and laborious process of dragging the fearmonger’s even MORE broken body over toward where you last heard Arturia and Lee-Fi screaming their heads off in fear and/or terror and/or unbridled rage. They’d better have something to say about this, too, or you’re just going to turn it all over to Kong and let her use the fearmonger as an accordion until everything starts making sense again.

Say, question for everyone else, if someone decided to write up little stories of "Unique" personifications around gameindustri, What kind of strange characters would you like to see?

I may have a rough draft of a fanfiction based off this quest. This quest, specifically, since I never interacted with the series in anything else. The main character is the personification of The binding of Isaac in his/her life as a dirty orphan, and his/her quest to do something with his/her life.

Hey, I haven't really played any of the Neptunia games (though I'm gonna, when they come out on steam) and was wondering; does Blanc's berserk fury come from the bloodlust-inducing multiplayer her games have? or is there another reason?

>no
Please? It'd be fun.

no it wouldn't.

Thanks for the thread, see you next time.

OH SHIT SON

I know literally nothing The Binding of Isaac, so I'd say go for it

... if there was ever a reason stated in-game for Blanc's unending rage, I don't recall it. I'm half-convinced that the developers just sat down at the planning table and went "LET'S MAKE NINTENDO GET REALLY REALLY MAD" before continuing to design the CPU-form battle bikinis.

Sorry, but no.

There's a time and place for Ogre Civ Quest, and an unrelated quest really isn't it. Heck, I didn't throw EVO Quest into Ogre Civ Quest, and I'm not about to start something like that now.

I completely understand, and I know I might be a minority in thinking this but I personally would prefer to start the next Ogre Civ Quest thread with Bawss having finally found his way back to Ogir Place with whatever strange things he found along the way in tow

Gotta say, I've been waiting a while for Ogre Quest to start up but now I'm getting into Hyper Dorf Fort-it's like I'm on two rides, and I don't want either to stop.

dammit, i love jelly beans but they are so bad for you.

I think that anon was asking what characters YOU'D like to see.

What would the personification of Kingdom Hearts look like?
>>

Younger FF that is also a mousegirl.

I wanna see Mortal Kombat. Then she and Street Fighter get into shitty /co/ tier debates on which of the Big Two is better.

It looks like Tekken is already there, though.

Well, if that MoM character is firmly unrecruitable, I'd like to see Wild Arms fill out the offensive magic hole in the party.
>>

To say nothing of Tekken joining in with her younger sister Blazblue, while Skullgirls dawdles around like the hyperactive toddler she is.
