“He had some abilities” you say “one’s I may have inherited, yeah.”

“Ah” she says “then for you, choosing a patron might be a little different, yes. You see, when most pick a single one of the Five to follow, they mean they’ll emulate their teachings, their ideals: A follower of Baalzamon would solve problems through subtlety and manipulation, a follower of Jagganatha through direct means and strength, a follower of the King would seek to lead. For most it’s about who they are, which one suits them the most. Oh” she adds “A few people might follow Jagganatha because they’re physically weak and think He’ll grant them strength – and if they exercise enough, maybe He does, or maybe they do it themselves, but they are in the minority, and I doubt the gods care about them.”

“But for you” she says “Your...abilities may be shaped by emulating one of the five, what you can do might change if you follow one of them, and not just what you can do, but perhaps even who you are” her voice drops in volume “or what you are.”

“So what?” you say “If I start following Jagganatha I’ll get huge and strong? Or if I follow the Ichor I’ll turn into water or something?”
>>
“Maybe” she says “Who knows? Mystics have followed the Five since time began and some gained great power from it. But it won’t happen straight away, it will take time to change yourself, to *prove* yourself to your God, all I can say is that you can turn away from them at any point, but once they mark you with their first gift, none of the rest of the Five will hear your prayers – they won’t poach see. Shall I tell you about the Five now, or do you already know enough?”

Shall she tell you about them now?

What exactly is the problem with getting the explanation? It never hurts to know more, and she does worhsip these gods, I see no reason why she wouldn't want to learn more about them.

They're options. Just because you want to play the perfect no flaws character doesn't mean everyone else does.

Possible, but why not at least hear about the drawbacks?

I don't like much idea of spending too much time here and leaving the girls alone, I'd say we should ask the lady for a contact so we can ask her for tutoring at more advantageous time.

And lock ourselves out from the others too, just saying we need to know ourselves before we commit. Just like with Ash but with even more at stake. Also being a prick about it isn't endearing.

Not really liking Ash. He's too slow on the take up and has self esteem issues.
>>
>>37106663

What makes you think we will need to commit now? The choice to hear more is explicitly about hearing more and then choosing if we take a patron or not.
We don't have to at all, nor do we have a reason to.

No, what gives you that idea? How would that even make any sense with the comment about how we can go at any time and are only commited once we have taken a gift?

>>37106605
>Says the man responsible for most of those arguments

>>37106719
>I'm fairly certain these are more severe than the books.
Absolutely. Which is why I was wondering about what he meant with Paladin of Joy, because I can't think of anything there that was as severe as this seems to be.
>>
>>37106716
Gods as a general rule are fickle, selfish, and proud. I take nothing for granted with them. Just because we can leave one doesn't mean they won't shit on us from great height. Kind of like quiting the only job in town you can do it but then you in the shit anyways, except this town is the planet if not galaxy.
>>
>>37106708
Since clearly we all agree on not doing any pacts today, I fail to see the problem.
>>
>>37106728
Maybe he meant the Angelic Form? I recall some people have been consistently afraid of that, and this might be similar to a version of that which we can't turn off.

>>37106753
Crushing paranoia.
>>
>>37106760

The angelic form hasn't actually been bad sofar.
Its pretty mild as mind-warping goes, and we keep doing it anyway.
>>
>>37106753
see>>37106700
>>
>>37106772
She just asked us if she should tell us about the five. There was no mention of any sort of pact making involved in that. We can make our pact whenever. As we have been already told.
>>
>>37106771
We've never remained in it for very long, either.
>>
>>37106844
The durationisn't the problem. If we have any loved ones around to tie us to the mortal realm is.
And even in angelic form there hasn't been a lot of changes of behavior.
>>
>>37106857
It probably isn't, but it's possible that the mental effects become greater over time.

The relative lack of changes is probably because Sireyi behaves very similarly to an angel already. I think I recall her having some aggressive thoughts to those demons we temporarily allied with in Hell, other than that I can't think of anything that really changed.

Anyway, it was just a theory as to what he might've been worried about. We shouldn't assume the pacts bear any similarity to mental alterations from a previous quest.
>>
>>37106857
>>37106926
Oh, maybe he meant the hypothetical mental alterations we might've gotten from imbibing the unfiltered essence? Or not storing the essence in a jar in the first place?
>>
>>37106967
We don't know anything about that one though, so saying "if its like those in PoJ", because we never found out what those would have been like.

“Sure” you say “No harm in finding out more, right?”

“Very well” says Kate “The Five are ancient, primordial gods, as dangerous as a storm or volcano but *not*” she says “evil. Sometimes malicious, often uncaring, but not truly evil. They are about more basic concepts than good or evil. I’m going to tell you about the each of the Five, including...lets call them rumours of what people who followed them have become able to do, in time.”

“Baalzamon, The Heart of Darkness: The lord of shadows, secrets and betrayal. He represents deceit, manipulation and betrayal, secrecy in all things, perhaps the one of the Five closest to being evil. And yet is truth a good thing? Should you always tell the truth, what if it hurts another, what if it hurts you? Secrets you keep and allies you gain through deceit impress Baalazamon. Those who follow Baalazamon are said to be able to perform such feats as: Being immune to attempts to read their mind or discover their emotions, being able to hide from any search and hide others, convince others to follow their advice no matter how absurd, or to talk others into seeing the world the way they see it.”

“The Ichor in the Depths; The mother of the sea, has power over transformation, water and family. A loving, yet sometimes cruel mother, she wants her children to grow up strong, but to never forget their mother. She is a teacher and nurturer. How could such a kind old lady be anything but good? Because bad children are punished, and those who threaten her children torn asunder. Have you cared for a child? Taken them into your home? Fed them? These are the things that please the Ichor in the Depths.
Those who follow The Ichor in the Depths are said to be able to perform such feats as: Turn into water, or a monster of the sea, transform others, convince their children to follow their commands, turn love into hate or vice versa, or turn their blood to poison.”
>>
“The Infinite Mirror: has power over reflection, adaptability, mimicry. Yes, very close to the Mirror am I. The Mirror is both male and female, the Mirror does not pick a path but rather adapts to whatever path they walk, balanced between good and evil, order and chaos, forever seeking the centre of all things. Have you learned a skill that wasn’t easy or natural? Have you changed your approach to a situation as you learned more about it? These are the things that please the Infinite Mirror.
Those who follow The Infinite Mirror are said to be able to perform such feats as: Gain the skills of others nearby, draw forth reflections into the real world, go to other worlds, have others suffer their wounds or create illusions.”

Jagganatha: The unstoppable, has power over physical might and endurance. Ah yes, the champion of power, a very popular for men. A breaker and destroyer, a mindless brute...or is he? Also a builder and crafter, He can move mountains to carve a road, or bring it down on your head. Have you ever taken the direct approach? Ever used force to resolve a situation? These are the things that please Jagganatha.
Those who follow Jagganatha are said to be able to perform such feats as: Having increadible physical strength and endurance – able to break barriers or withstand lethal attacks, terrify their foes, even resist magical attacks or disrupt magic around them.”
>>
“The King of Hell: The ruler of all, banished to Hell by the new gods, now rules over the demons. Surely the King of Hell must be evil? He rules demons. No, he is a leader, a teacher, a warrior, a patron of those who would rule, both benevolent rulers and tyrants. He can lead you to freedom, or to oppression. Have you taken charge? Led others in battle? These are the things that please the King of Hell.
Those who follow The King of Hell are said to be able to perform such feats as: Turning into a demon, force others to follow their orders, inspire the fiercest loyalty in their followers, draw strength from the number of followers they have, or resist the orders of others with ease.”

Kate looks at you “I have some prayer books for each of the Five if you feel ready to choose one, which would you like?”

“Can I take one of each?” you ask “And decide later?”

“Of course you can” says Kate with a smile, taking five slim books and pushing them towards you “You won’t lock yourself into a single path for some time yet anyway, but are you leaning towards one?”

We've been lying all over the place in order to hide the truth about us and keep our friends safe. Misdirection and secrecy all over the place. Ichor is fairly close for obvious fangy reasons.

Pretty much yeah. Quin tries and end up getting his head melted off.

I wouldn't say all over the place, but we've definitly lied several times thinking it in the best interest of others.
>>
>>37107203
Yeah The first 3 resonate with us, but I think Ichor has a leg up due to our little ankle biter, and other fanged issues.
>>
>>37107169
forever seeking the center

Not sure if we want to cruse with "central"
>>37107203
Right. But that guy is straight up web weaver monster type. We've lied because we're a scared kid who doesn't want no trabble. Not because we're trying to manipulate everyone around us.
>>
>>37107184
We're lying mostly to protect others and ourselves. We don't lie to hurt people, like betrayal and manipulation would seem to imply. That doesn't really feel like Baalzamon's thing to me. The lying, yes, but he seems like more of a dick about it than we are.

I'm kinda worried about what kind of mental alterations Baalzamon might come with as well.
>>
>>37107094

I'd go for Ichor or the King, but for now

>I'm not ready to choose yet
>>
>>37107232
>>37107255
Baalzamon definitly tries to play up a angle of "isn't a lie better than a hurtful truth" not necessarily straight up manipulation for personal gain.
That probably comes with following him though.

“I’m not ready to choose yet” you say, putting the books in your bag “But thank you. Would...would you mind reading my fortune?” you ask hesitantly.

Kate laughs, a warm sound “Of course I’ll read your fortune” she says, taking a deck of cards out and fanning them out for you, as this is your first reading, let’s start with where you came from, please pick three cards and put them face down on the table.”

You do as she asks and she picks up the cards one at a time, looking at them each in turn, her face goes still.

She looks troubled, scared even.

“It seems the cards aren’t cooperating just now” she says, pulling the three cards from the table facedown, without you being able to see them “Was there anything else I can help with?”

Very suspicious, to buy yourself time to think you say “When I walked past earlier a guy came out, his hands seemed to be sparking, can you tell me about him.”

“Ah” says Kate “I shouldn’t really say anything about my other clients, but if you truthfully answer a question for me, I’ll tell you what I can.”

“It depends” you say, folding your arms “what’s the question?”

“My question” says Kate slowly “is this: Who sent you to test my faith, your Highness?”

Wait, your highness, what?

As you pause Kate pushes “Well, will you answer my question honestly?”

Will you?

There’s a long pause, then Kate gives a fake laugh “Of course, how silly of me, thinking you’d be taken in by a poor fortune tellers tricks.” She reaches for a glass of water but spills it, her hands are shaking.

“Well you answered honestly so I have to keep up my side of the bargain, the ugh, the guy, yes, he’s um, he’s a Gifted but he wants to be free of the Fae. Jaze his name is, has electricity powers. He was asking about another Gifted, a friend of his. He um, yes, where was I? His friend the uh Gifting didn’t take properly, turned into a monster and run off into dust town, he wanted to find him, all I could do was tell him what his friend was doing, terrible thing, I couldn’t truly see where he was.”

Best to start slowly “So this Jaze and his friend” you say “Can you tell me anything more?”

“Only that his friend is killing people in Dust Town” says Kate, backing away from you “Tearing pieces of their flesh out, he’s hungry, he’ll kill again in the next few days.”

Yeah, sounds like the Gouger alright.

“And Jaze is hunting him” she says “To try to help him if he can, or kill him if he can’t, I expect he’ll start hunting in Dust Town, that’s where he said he was going – to find him.”

“What do you think I am?” you ask her softly “You called me Highness, what did you mean by that?”

“I didn’t mean anything!” she insists “Just a joke, I’ve answered your questions, please go, now!” She’s pale and her voice almost a shriek. Asking nicely isn’t working.

“Please” you beg her “my father died when I was very young, I never met him and my family refused to talk about him. The only hint I have is a genescan by a faulty machine, if you know anything, please tell me. I’ve got nothing left of him but my faith” And my locket, you think “I can pay you.”

For a brief moment Kate looks like she’s going to say something, then she turns away “I can’t” she says “It’s better if you never know, it’s...it’s better for the world if you never know, just, I...just say goodbye to those you love and enjoy the rest of your time in this world” you hear her whisper “short though it will be.” Louder she asks “just, go, now, or I call the guards.”

It seems diplomacy isn’t getting you anywhere. What do you do?

By making her uncooperative forever after?
By her screaming for help possibly from people she knows on this black market full of armed dangerous people, some of which probably also following our faith?
By us not getting an answer at all because she isn't intimidated enough?
I could go on, but I won't waste my time like that.

She fights us and hurts us or forces us to kill her. In best outcome she's dead and we have to deal with the fallout, or alternately she makes a getaway and we're back to square one.
In both cases we lose option to ask her about anything further down the road.
Worst case we get killed or arrested by whatever passes for security, and our friends as well.

“Ok” you say, holding up your hands in a show of peace “I’m going, I’m going...”

Once outside you say to Rainya “I think Lirael would like this fortune teller, we’ll just be a moment.” You lead Lirael back inside, her hand in yours, where Kate is still throwing things into boxes, she doesn’t seem to notice you’ve come back “Lirael” you whisper to your friend “She knows a secret about me, can you tell me what it is?”

Lirael stares at the back of Kate’s head in concentration, and then she jerks back and looks at you, her eyes go wide and her face pale, and then she starts to scream, pulling her hand out of yours and backing away, screaming and screaming and screaming....

Kate spins around, seeing you and a screaming young girl and then bolts out of the tent, yelling for the guards.

Rainya comes running in, she looks around in confusion, “What’s going on?” she asks.

“I really don’t know!” you yell at her, over the sound of Liraels screams, every time you try to get close to Lirael she swats at you and screams louder, you know how hard she can hit so you’re keeping your distance.

“Well shut her up!” yells back Rainya “The guards will be coming?”

“How?” you say

“She’s just a kid” says Rainya, starting towards Lirael “Just grab her.”

What do you do?

You stay back, hopefully Rainya can you dunno, hug Lirael into calmness or something. Rainya approaches Lirael “Are you ok sweetie, its ok, nothing to be scared off see? It’s just you and me” Rainya gently puts her hand on Liraels shoulder “and your cousin Shee”.

Liraels frantic slap throws Rainya up into the air, she comes down on the fortune tellers table hard, smashing it to pieces, lying there unmoving. Oh no is she...

Rainya twitches slightly and then lies there groaning, you sigh in relief, and least she’s not- wait, Lirael has stopped screaming.

Your gaze darts to Lirael, she’s standing there shaking, tears flowing from her eyes “Shee” says Lirael “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, but I have to do this, I have to stop you being bad.”

She takes a deep breath and her wings rip free of their bindings “Shee Hyul” she says “face judgement for the crimes” she gulps “you will one day commit.” She raises her wings and...

...nothing happens.

Lirael looks confused for a moment and then a look of realisation dawns “I need more” she says “I’m too hungry to call the Angel!” She looks around, her gaze falling on the groaning Rainya, she starts to walk towards Rainya saying “Rainya I’m sorry, I’m really sorry...”

Outside you can hear a lot of yelling, is that the guards on their way?

As Lirael bends down to grab Rainya you rush forward and touch Lirael, focusing hard. You’re at the facility, in one of the abandoned rooms there. You’re not at the weapons bazaar you’re at the facility, you focus as hard as you ever have before and the world shifts around you.

The two of you appear in one of the training facilities rooms, Rainya stays behind; you hope she’s going to be ok.

Lirael sway momentarily on her feet, and then turns to you “No!” she yells, sounding more indignant than anything, and maybe a little calmer “Shee!” she says “Now I’ll have to feed on you, and I know you don’t want me too!” She advances, you back up, keeping your distance.

“Tell me why!” you say “What am I going to do?”

“You’re going to be really *bad* when you’re older!” she says, and then stops suddenly

“Isn’t there any other way to fix this?” you ask, you’re really not keen on fighting Lirael again, once was enough.

Lirael thinks and then says “I need to stop you being bad, or” she looks at you consideringly “Stop you getting older.” Uh oh, is she going to kill you?

Lirael points a finger at you “Shee” she says “You either let me feed and judge you, or you become my Dhampir.”

“What’s the third option?” you snark at her “We do both?”

Lirael just advances “I’m going to need blood if I make you one” she says, trembling a little, but looking determined “So either way, I’m sorry Shee, you’re getting bit.”

What do you do?

>>
This thread has been highly amusing.

>>37109912
We don't really have a lot of information on what exactly it entails.
>>
>>37109912
No. Not at all.
>>
>>37109477

what these guys said.
>>37109505
>>37109537

Lirael just knows what the fortune teller *believed*. The future hasn't been written yet.
>>
>>37109912
Sort of? You literally cannot do bad/questionable things anymore.
>>
>>37109916
I agree
>>
"Sit down!" you order Lirael "And explain what you saw, I might let you do either of those but I'd like to know why before I go through any of them."

Lirael just shakes her head and advances, you retreat, until your back hits a wall.

You keep trying “We do it likes this: You say I'm going to be bad in the future, not now. Read my mind, I will go make sure Rainya is okay. Then I come back, and we talk about what you saw. And THEN we decide what to do.”

Lirael appears to consider it for a moment “No” she says “You never want me reading your mind, you must be trying to trick me, you barely feed me - maybe I can’t trust you.”

“Wait Lirael-” you start to say.

Lirael pounces, slamming you back against the wall, you both end up in a tangle on the floor, Lirael pinning your arms to your sides, her mouth open wide, her fangs visible as her face lowers to your neck.

>>
>>37109928
You're joking right? It eliminates free will with a constant overpowering fear of hell and damnation.
>>
>>37109912
As far as we know its exactly like redeeming touch. It shows us all the bad things we have done in our life. How bad it is depends on how bad we have been.

>>37109933
Thats not true either. We just get flashbacks of the judgement if we do.
>>
>>37109954
Wait a second.
Pally, what the fuck? She's decided to JUDGE us before reading our mind?

That's bullshit as fuck right there
>>
>>37109955
Thats not what being lobotomized is.
We still have free will, we get punished for doing "bad" things. Whatever that entails.
>>
>>37109955
>constant overpowering fear of hell and damnation.
Yeah, but one of our gods is the King of hell, so we'd just be going to serve there anyways at death.
>>
>>37109987
She is acting pretty much completly out of character the entire time if you haven't noticed, what she saw in the fortune tellers head, pretty obviously mind-fucked her hard.
>>
>>37109959
>>37109992

That's fucking awful. That would mean that anything considered "Bad" we would have to make will rolls. It would gimp the character and I'd say that's a great fucking affect on free will.

Not really, its not something that actually affects us. We don't need willpower rolls to do "bad" things, we just get a flashback to hell for it.

Do you seriously not realise that our social rolls were completly meaningless this entire time?
Literally the only thing we could have done any better was to not let Lirael read her mind.

Dhampirs appear the same as any other member of their species, only detailed medical examination will reveal their vestigial fangs. They have a number of powers but needn’t rely on any of them, indeed, some Dhampirs have lives identical to any normal member of their species and no one but their closest family and friends even know what they are.
Dhampirs tend to develop physical powers rather than mental ones, though they can learn vampire mental powers.
Dhampirs don’t need to drink blood to use their powers, though using their powers can weaken them.
Created Dhampirs are ordinary mortals who have drunk vampire blood. They gain the physical powers of ordinary Dhampirs but can only use them if they have a regular supply of vampire blood.

>>
>>37110826
>Hell if you want to get down to brass tacks sometimes rape victims don't report the crime? Why? They're terrified of the assailant
Rape victims mostly don't report the assault because of shame, not because of fear of the assailant unless its a close relative.
>>
>>37110792
I'm not trying to be condescending. I just thought it was obvious intimidation was the better option. Especially after the QM said so.
>>
>>37110898
>We could jsut teleport away from any guards
Yes, and still have our reputation among the Dusters wrecked because she knows our name. And would have dragged Rainya right into it with us. Fucking amazing idea.
What you faggots still fail to realise that even if it would have succeeded, which we don't know if it would have, it would have still fucked us over, because that women wouldn't just conveniently leave existence for us.
>>
>>37110921
And he doesn't give two fucks that the QM stated it had a better chance to succeed. He's blinded himself to that and decided no matter what the repercussions would have made it a horrible choice.

>>
>>37110937
>And he doesn't give two fucks that the QM stated it had a better chance to succeed.
I care about that. What you blind yourself to is that Pally never said it WOULD HAVE SUCCEEDED. Only that it had abetter chance to. Nor did Pally say waht consequences would have followed from intimidating her.
>>
>>37110872
Ah you are totally correct. That must be why "protection" rackets never occur and everyone immediately goes to the police.

Do you not fucking get that the woman was beyond terrified of us and with some pressing we could have cowed her into giving us the information.

Its like you have no understanding of complex social interactions. Fucking hell I need to go talk to some people who aren't fucking retarded.
>>
>>37110973
The entire argument started because the individuals who chose intimidation said that it would have been more effective. You stated it wouldn't have been. Now you've changed to, "WELL THE CONSEQUENCES WILL BE WORSE!"

You lost the original argument and now are creating new ones.
>>
>>37110937
Are you seriously so blinded in your own ignorance that you have after several hours not relaised that the point was that no matter what outcome, the freindly approach wouldn't have fucked us over. While if we had failed the intimidate, it would have. That was the entire argument. Always, the entire time. And its still as true as it was then.
>>
>>37110973
>waht consequences would have followed from intimidating her.

>>
>>37111003

Which at this point we had o reason to believe was truel. And the argument of the potential consequences for failure had always been there. That you guys failed to consider all possible outcomes isn't anyones fault but yours.
>>
>>37111034
Unless we got a 4.
>>
>>37111034
Are you oblivious to the fact we have no guarantee that would have happened and it would have been another risk to take in addition to making her talk in the first place?
But of course not, it was your chosen option, so obviously everything would have magically worked out in your favor.
>>
>>37111036
That's fine, I just don't like the ones acting like condescending dicks when they didn't even try to make an argument for their side.

>>
>>37111101
No, it made obvious she was already scared out of her mind.
And she didn't tell us shit anyway, even before we got friendly, so we had no reason to assume scaring her anymore would have at all worked.
>>
>>37111101
They Can't think past Cuddle hug/adopt vampire loli/fuckvampire boyfriend.

>>
>>37111134
>so we had no reason to assume scaring her anymore would have at all worked.
And thats where you are wrong.

She was terrified by us sitting there doing nothing but asking her questions. Us actually threatening her would have been significantly more terrifying. This is really fucking simple.
>>

The Fear means intimidate will have a higher chance of success because she's obviously already intimidated. You're not afraid of things that don't intimidate you.

Does that make sense?
>>
Sigh. Let's look at the situation again.

Shee and Kate are in the tent.
Kate is afraid, making her susceptible to intimidation.

Best outcome: Shee intimidates Kate. Kate spills the beans and doesn't tell anyone else. Pure win for us.
Bad outcome: Kate spills the beans, then seeks out aid against Shee, perhaps just seek shelter but in any case revealing our nature.
Bad outcome: Regardless whether Kate spills the info, she moves against us directly, forcing us to kill her, thus making a mess in the market. Salvageable, perhaps, if security is lax enough.

Now, if we leave on the other hand.
Good outcome: Kate forgets about the incident, perhaps downplaying it as her imagination.
Bad outcome: same as bad outcome 1 above.

This is why I personally wanted to leave without further intrusions. The information we got was not that critical, and certainly not worth the mess we landed in now.

Nothing to be done about that now though. Only question remains is how we should act in next thread. Most pressingly whether we want to teleport back and try to find how we can participate in resolving the situation, or whether to let it develop on its own and hope for the best. First we of course have to deal with the little girl.
>>
>>37110981
>That must be why "protection" rackets never occur
What do you think those guards are?
Of course. Because protection rackets exist, People NEVER GO TO THE POLICE EVER.
Makes fucking sense. Especially if the police IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER AND THE THREATENER IS NOT A LARGE ORGNAISATION AND THEREFORE EASILY TAKEN OUT WITHOUT FEAR OF RETRIBUTION.
You know, what protection rackets rely on. But I can't you expect to understand basic logic.
>>
>>37110968
take a look at the other anons and how pathetically they "defend" themselves. It's impossible, they're blinded by their own faulty reasoning.

Theonly thing left for me after the vote was lost, is to wallow in my superiority.
>>
>>37111177
Except that we all wanted to know what she was afraid to tell us. So yes. If we want nothing bad to happen ever we could leave! Hell we could go sit in dust town and eat/work a steady job! That way nothing bad happens!
>>
>>37111174
>You're not afraid of things that don't intimidate you.
The problem was that she was already intimidated by us, and still didn't tell us. Therefore, we had reason to assume she had something she was even more scared of than us, otherwise, why not answer our question?
>>
>>37111214
They are being a bit...yeah. That doesn't mean everyone that voted for diplomacy couldn't have been persuaded. You probably could've won the vote if, ironically, you had used diplomacy.
>>
>>37111181
Until we spilled the beans she had no idea we were a scared little orphan girl you dunce. The was she was acting was insanely out of character for what we looked like. That was my point, we obviously had her more than afraid enough to not act against us.
>>
>>37111251
>we obviously had her more than afraid enough to not act against us.
No we didn't at all.
We don't know what would have happened even after a sucesfull intimidation. Stop pretending we do.
>>
>>37111248
I did. Anon refused because of paranoia and diplomancing habits and not knowing how intimidation works and making assumptions out of nothing and making things up. or simple using random reasoning like "We could fail" "Oooh, our reputation", etc.

It was already lost because of their own arrogance.

>>37111262
See this guy? he's the reason no argument would ever work.
>>
>>37111237
Because she wanted to try asking us to leave. We. Didn't. Press. The. Issue.

You chose. Hi please? I'ma orphan who is scared?

That doesn't capitalize on her current state. That's trying to convince someone who thinks your a goddamn monster that really all you want is a friend.

It's not going to work.

>>37111248
Not at this point. It's clear that even though intimidate had a higher chance of success everyone against it is now moving from, NO IT DOESN'T, to, WELL IT WAS A BAD IDEA ANYWAY!
>>
>>37111229

I don't expect murderhobo anon to realize that sometimes the risk is not worth the reward. Going headlong into every carrot you get hanged in front of you is only good for getting you hanged in turn.

In this instance it was a scared woman in a story. Not a goddamn armed hostile.
>>
>>37111314
>>37111281
Okay. Please show me the prove we have for nothing bad at all hapopening after intimidating her.
We had this exact same argument way back after that vote, when we had already spelled out why intimidate is a bad idea even if it succeeds, there was no changing of argument, the same argument had always been made.
>>
>>37111321
What you say is actually another reason why intimidation was a bad idea, murderhobo. Do you often browbeat, or literally beat, people to get what you want out of them?
>>
>>37111287
>Because she wanted to try asking us to leave. We. Didn't. Press. The. Issue.
Did you not read?
We DID press the issue. We pressed the issue twice. Once normal and once trying friendly. Why didn't she tell us when it was clear we wouldn't leave the first time?
>>
>>37111345
Anon, your request is flawed.
>>
>>37111287
>You chose. Hi please? I'ma orphan who is scared?
That was the second time anon...
We asked once before, and she didn't tell us there anyway, despite it being clear we wouldn't leave. If she was so scared. Why didn't she tell us then?
>>
Heh. I'm the guy who suggested mind reading. It was the worst option. I won. Fuck all ya'll. Hehehehehe.
>>
>>37111402
Not anymore flawed than claims intimidaation would have brought us to our goal without fucking things up so bad to make it not having been worth knowing.
>>
>>37111416

And I'm the guy who said it's a bad idea. I regret not having been as autistically butthurt about it as the intimidation anon is now.

Although I'll admit that reason why it backfired was different than what I feared.
>>
>>37111382
Because you were being Normal/Friendly. When she was scared.

Why on earth is this hard for you to understand. IF you had run with Intimidate She had a Higher Chance of Devulging the information.

Sometimes.. I know this is hard for you, being nice doesn't get you what you want.

Intimidating the person who is scared of YOU has a higher chance of success then being Buddy buddy with them. They don't want to be your friend. You Scare Them.
>>
>>37111446
More than one anon said it was probably a bad idea.
>>
>>37111427
A successful intimidation has the victim doing anything you tell her because she's afraid of you. That's how intimidation works, anon.
>>
>>37111462
>They don't want to be your friend. You Scare Them.
Its genrally logical to assume that someone who is scared of you, would like to not have reason to be scared of you.

>>37111478
And yet it still doesn't make the victim just roll over and take it. Especially if she has perfectly good means of getting back at us for it without putting herself at danger at all. Since we had no idea as to WHY she was scared of us.
>>
>>37111464

Still, not enough it seems. Anyway it's a pointless debate. Perhaps OP will clear it up with word of God verdict next time.
>>
>>37111462
>Sometimes.. I know this is hard for you, being nice doesn't get you what you want.
Very often, not being nice gets other not nice people to fuck your shit up.
>>
>>37111464
>>37111496
Saying I'm an orphan please tell me. Does not Automatically endear someone to you unless they're an idiot on /tg/

Scaring her had a higher chance to succeed. We've etablished that. So! What would have been worse. Because we've seen that the nice option led us to where we are now WHICH IS REALLY BAD!

If we had successfully intimated her. We wouldn't have needed the kid to read her mind. So we're already sure it wouldn't have had that fucking effect.

Intimidation. Does not mean hurt/maim/kill. It means scare. IF you want to use your Everyone is nice and cuddly logic. If she had called the guards we'd have been asked to LEAVE. Because we didn't fucking do anything to her.

Because we're sure as fuck not visiting again now.
>>
>>37111496
But she didn't have any means of getting back at Shee. She wasn't even brave, she would have taken the intimidation to heart and submitted. It doesn't matter why she was afraid of Shee, what amttered is that she was afraid.

>>37111537
Not in this situation, anon.
>>
>>37111575
>Because we've seen that the nice option led us to where we are now WHICH IS REALLY BAD!
The option that lead us here, was independent of the nice one. So thats not an argument at all. The nice option put us into a situation where we could have walked away and tried later.
>If we had successfully intimated her.
Assuming it would have actually been successfull.
>If she had called the guards we'd have been asked to LEAVE. Because we didn't fucking do anything to her.
Yeah sure, Black Market watchmen are known for their sense of proportionate reaction to threats to their clients.
>>
>>37111581
>She wasn't even brave
She was brave enough to tell us no twice, even before we brought out the orphan story. Despite being scared. And it doesn't even need bravery, because we still don't know why she was afraid of us.
As far as we know we are the Doomsday figure of this religion and she could have gotten her cult together to kill us before we bring the end of times.
>>
Why are you sperging over the guards? They can't stop Shee from teleporting, adn I doubt the woman would have said anything about Shee, out of fear of retribution from Shee/Gods/Highness
>>
>>37111644
>I doubt the woman would have said anything about Shee, out of fear of retribution from Shee/Gods/Highness
Clearly Shees nature by itself did not deter her, because she DID call the guards.
Also, teleporting was something we would have liked not to do in front of all these Dusters.
And of course Dev.
>>
>>37111620
>>37111642
just say goodbye to those you love and enjoy the rest of your time in this world” you hear her whisper “short though it will be.”

Well either way we're apparently going to die. And do something horrible in the process.
>>
>>37111642
>She was brave enough to tell us no twice
Anon, try using her fear next time instead of trying to befriend her.

Again, the reason she was afraid is not important.

And stop making ridiculous theories up.
>>
>>37111665
>because she DID call the guards.

After we showed our hand, spilling that we were a sad, not so dangerous orphan.
>>
So random thought. Aren't the shee, faries? Fey?
>>
>>37111698
Sidhe pronounced Shee. But yeah. They're fey.
>>
>>37111686
>instead of trying to befriend her.
We only tried to befriend her in one, the last, attempt. Thats just not a valid argument, because even before we tried to befriend her she didn't tell us shit.

>>37111694
>After we showed our hand, spilling that we were a sad, not so dangerous orphan.
No... She still thinks we are whatever she was afraid of, nothing has changed in that regard, so that is clearly not a reason.
>>
>>37111686
>Again, the reason she was afraid is not important.
Yes it is very fukcing important because it decides how she would have reacted. Was she afraid of us perosnally? Of something we could do? Of someone she thinks we are associated with?
That make s ahuge fucking difference in regards to what possible actions she could have taken.
>>

>>37111717

>>37111736

>>
>>37111698
It's a coincidence. Shee isn't a fey or half-fey or whatever. I'm almost certain anyway.
>>
>>37111759
The question was answered.
I doubt it means anything, since the subplot of our ancestry would have most likely come up for every choice.
>>
>>37111720
>nothing has changed in that regard
She called us Highness and then asked who sent us all while being terrified of us. Then we said we had no idea what she was talking about and then we showed that we weren't sent by anyone but was actually an orphan who has no knowledge of what she is terrified of. Removing any doubt from her mind that we actively pose a threat from the information she learned that made her afraid in the first place. There is a difference between being afraid of what we will do in the future and what we might do to her.
>>
>>37111804
>. Then we said we had no idea what she was talking about
Yes. In our very first answer.
>>
>>37111804
>Then we said we had no idea what she was talking about and then we showed that we weren't sent by anyone but was actually an orphan who has no knowledge of what she is terrified of.
You skipped the first time we pressed her, when we wanted to make her tell us what she thinks we are. When she was still thinking we are whatever she thought we were.

Sidhe Gaelic or whatever by pronunciation and Blood? Or something like that in Korean translated to English?
>>
So, now that you guys are done sperging over past shit.
What are we going to do about the Judgement vs. Dhampir choice?
Assmuning its still on the table next thread, which I doubt, but assuming it is.
It doesn't seem like its visible who is a dhampir, so that would probably be the least intrusive option, and give us a physical upgrade.
>>
>>37111969
That's an odd coincidence.
>>
>>37112012
I don't want judgement. I'd vote Dhampir to avoid judgement.

Also. Maybe Shee's blood is so great according to ash/quin.. because.. of the name?

Shee Blood/fey blood?
>>
>>37112012
Let's not take any of them.
>>
>>37112012
It's not visible at all for biological Dhampir, even less so for Created Dhampir.

>>37112037
Well, ideally.
>>
>>37112032
I didn't have the impression its actually "unusually good", just, ash has a crush on us and thats why it was so great to him.
I guess we will find out next thread.

>>37112037
As I said, I doubt its still on the table next thread, but assuming it is.
>>
>>37112048
I assume there is some way to find out, just so Pally can fuck with us. I would be very surprised if we become a dhampire and Ash doesn't smell it or something.
>>
>>37112067
Don't. Care.

It means that our character has to be punished for all the bad shit she's done. Or at least have that all flash before her eyes. Then get "reminders" whenever she does anything construed as bad. It could totally fuck us for combat. Not Okay.
>>
>>37112097
The only way to find out someone is a dhampir is surgery to find their vestigial fangs or when they suddenly start shrugging off bullets, regrowing limbs and beat your friends to death with your arms.
>>
>>37112125
That's judging, we could become a Dhampir instead.

Based off what Pally said about Lirael taking Healing 7, she might prefer that over mindraping us as well.
>>
>>37112125
Are you quoting the wrong person?
Because your response doesn't make any sense, since he didn't say anything for Judgement.

>>
>>37112179
I agree witht he statment in theory, anyway.
I doubt its actually that debilitiating, because Pally has no reason to cripple combat like that, but as far as we know, its still a bigger risk then the known quantity of dhampir.
>>

Setting pastebin - http://pastebin.com/95D5RNhP

Dhampir
Most Vampires rank Created Dhampirs as lower than those born as Dhampirs.

>>
>>37112385
Do you realise how often people say at every vote "X isn't going to work".
If we would have been unfriendly someone would have said "Intimidating isn't gonna work" and once we would have failed the roll someone would have said "told you so".
Nice could have worked. It didn't. Intimidating could have worked, until Pally tells us the DC we'll never know.
Literally no one except the people who voted against mindreading got any right to complain.

> Asking nicely isn’t working.

Nice. Isn't. Working.

Then everyone voted to be nice. Do you not get that? Nice. Is. A. Bad. Idea.

The options presented were leaving, intimidate.

We got. LETS TRY NICE AGaIN!
>>
>>37112456

>>37112493

>>37112493
Right! We should not role play! We should Metagame! Good job!

Our characters impressions shouldn't be ours at all!
>>
>>37112539
We can take them into account. Just that she never said "Being nice isn't goping to work" only that the previous attempt at being nice didn't work.
Which was concluded as being because we didn't give her a reason to overcome her suspicion.
>>
>>37112551
I think you got that backwards. Doing something because you understand it as the cue of the QM instead of the character. That is meta.
>>
>>37112514
>Nice isn't working isn't a cue to leave, it's a cue to try a different tactic.
No, its a cue that being nice hasn't worked sofar. It doesn't mean it won't work in the future, nor does it mean something else will work.
It should be pretty obvious to even the densest reader that we would have not gotten that information without repercussion ever.
It was simply not a option. Our cue was to leave it alone.
>>
>>37112574
The DM writes EVERYTHING our character says!

So Shee thinks, "Being Nice isn't going to work."

So with that information. You chose. Let's be nice!
>>
>>37112574
That...can you explain that to me? Because that's some really weird logic and my brain isn't really getting it.
>>
>>37112594
In that situation it was a clear indicator THAT BEING NICE WASN'T WORKING AND WE SHOULDNT KEEP TRYING IT.

What is wrong with you? Why can't you figure that out?
>>
>>37112598
>So Shee thinks, "Being Nice isn't going to work."
Except for how she never thought that.
In case your grasp of the english language is actually that weak.
"Asking nicely isn't working", does not mean it will not work. It means it hasn't worked sofar.
>>
>>37112616

No it wasn't. It was clear indicator that the previous attempt hasn't worked.
