Are more expensive balls comfier for pokemons(like how Luxury? balls make pokemons inside them raise their Freindship score faster in the games)? Can they 'trade up' if we come across special balls?

The Pokemon seems to have been sizing you up. Maybe you can talk to it.

It fires a powerful blast. You all dodge out of the way barely in time. Bits of debris fly everywhere. Guess not. With the anger radiating from the other room, keeping an eye on all your friends and Levi, the debris, and everything else going on, you can probably only concentrate on direction one Pokemon at a time.

Your friends all make their own attacks. Clair's Charmander rushes in with a metal claw that does next to no damage. The Rock Pokemon bats him away, knocking it out.

"Ignis!" Jeanine pulls it back.

Clair follows up her Gardivoir, erecting a Reflect barrier. Vance and Machop run around behind it.

This thing seems tougher than any regular Pokemon. Robin fires a second Will-O-Wisp with her Vulpix. She's trying to really make the burn stick.

Problem with that is that Gyarados is Water/Flying. That meas that the legendary Pokemon we're fighting, with us most likely severely underleveled for the job, is type-neutral against Levi.

Translation: Regirock will fucking destroyinate Levi in one on one combat.

"Trunks! Leech Seed!" You let your plant do what he does best. Steal health. He lands the little seeds from where he stands. So far you've avoided getting into the fray.

Jeanine throws out her Wartortle, Triton. It immediately gets to work shooting water to little effect.

Clair and her Gardevoir take the offensive. She uses Razor Leaf. No wait, Magical Leaf.

Both attacks seem to get it's attention. It uses Stone Edge on them both, Gardevoir is knocked out while Wartortle has to retreat to it's shell. Dust and pebbles fly everywhere.

How strong is this thing?

Vance and his Pokemon rush in behind it and unleash a series of attacks. They work in sync to try to avoid getting struck themselves, but the rock monster's missed punch simply hits the ground, causing them both to fall over. Another one lands and sends them flying back.

"Hex! Now!" Robin instructs her Vulpix. What should be a devastating blow merely chips off the tiniest mark.

"Keep it together team! It can be hurt!" You remind your friends and yourself. You have a little hope as the leech seed drains a small amount of health.

Zappy Dan is, seeing as he was a Magneton and those evolve at 30 from Magnemite. Devon is at least level 24, mega evolving gives him better stats, but he's not here and Rock murders him.

It uses another Stone edge in retaliation. This time it targets Trunks and Vlad.

Vlad is taken out almost immediately. Trunks takes a hard blow, injuring him but not knocking him out. A small bit of energy transfers from Regirock to Trunks, helping him out. He might need a few seconds to shake it off though.

Jeanine directs her Pokemon to knock down a stalactite, block off where Regirock was about to go.

Clair sends out her Alakazam. Together they work on pushing boulders in it's path.

Robin tries to push it with Twister.

Regirock only has a small space he can attack out of. The burn and leech seed take a small bit out of him,

We could risk an all or nothing on Regirock now, or we could make a tactical withdrawal, regroup at Sandorp then make plans for a second expedition after we've got our next badge... also getting some more supplies wouldn't go amiss...

Clair, Alakazam, and, Ursaring and Vance keep pushing everything they can in it's path. Robin has Joltik spray the outside of the rocks with Sticky Web to help contain everything. Regirock ends up almost entirely covered.

For a brief second, it seems like you've got it. Then suddenly it explodes out. Rocks fly everywhere. It let's loose an amazing Hyperbeam. A pillar is taken out and Eevee, Triton, and Stunky all suffer blows.

Regirock needs a few seconds to recover. The burn and leech take their toll.

You have Zappy Dan directly in position.

It is still literally twice as strong as us even without us assuming its not lvl 100 due to having been down here for like a bajillion years or whatever.

You take a quick mental audit of the situation. You and your friends are losing Pokemon quickly, and this thing doesn't seem to want to slow down one bit. Time to really hurt it.

"Mirror Shot! Hard as you can!"

Dan shines brilliantly. In the darkened cave it's almost blinding. He fires a solid silver bolt of every right into Regirock at almost point blank range.

Regirock stumbles back. Your friends quickly jump in. Robin's Dratini hits it with a precise Water Pulse exactly were Dan hit it. Jeanine has her Bulbasaur razorleaf there too. Clair lands a powerful Psychic and Vance drop kicks it right after Ursaring slashes it. It nearly tips over. Leech seed and the burn still hurt it. In desperation, Robin's Magikarp lands a Bounce on it.

It topples and falls on it's back. There's a heavy thoom as a small dust cloud rushes out from where it landed.

Before you and your friends can cheer though, it sits up.

Jeanine slumps her shoulders "What does it take?"

It beeps frantically. You can see that it's definitely taken damage, but it just isn't giving up.

Neither is your party. Your friends are all tired, clothes ripped, covered in dust, but nobody breaks yet.

It's a battle of attrition, but you've always been a big fan of those.

"Don't let up! Keep hitting it! Knock it towards the edge!" You have Dan fire another blast.

Clair nods. "Right! I was thinking the same thing!" She and Alakazam get to work. It fires an Energy Ball. Vance and Ursaring follow up with more attacks. This time they're both hit. Ursaring is out, and it looks like Vance is too.

Jeanine yells and unleashes all of her remaining Pokemon. It grabs Bulbasaur's vine whip and those the Pokemon into her Scyther. Her Ditto transforms into another Regirock and let's loose a Hyperbeam, but it's not nearly as powerful as the original. You follow up with yet another Mirror Shot

Robin lays into it with Dratini and Houndour. Alternating attacks. It barely seems to feel them, but it still keeps being forced back. It uses Bulldoze, knocking Houndour out of the fight and injuring Dratini.

Dan hit's it yet again with another Mirror shot. This attack seems to actually get through to it a little. Regirock slams him dead on with a Hammer Arm. It's a powerful blow that sends a shockwave out. Dan receives a little bit of the leech seed energy, keeping him awake.

Regirock has been pushed next to the edge now. You can see clear signs of damage and small cracks on it. It readies it's arms for another hyperbeam.

You throw a Pokeball. It connects and actually traps him! You can't believe it!

It wiggles once.

Suddenly Regirock breaks free.

"Everyone! Attack!" You direct all of your Pokemon. Trunks leaps back into action, hopping over Dan and nailing the rock beast with a Hornleech, causing the hyperbeam to veer off and blow chunks out of the ceiling. Dan follows up with a powerful Explosion which doesn't harm Trunks in the slightest. It raises it's arms to block it and one of the arms shatters into pebbles and dust.

Before it can strike with it's other arm, Levi comes in from behind with Bite and pulls it down backwards over the edge. You run over to watch them both tumble down and splash in the water, with ceiling rocks following.

Then you see them. Leviathan and Regirock are entangled as they fall down. Levi gives it another bite. But just as you're believing that Levi has this finished, it charges a harsh yellow beam through it's remaining hand and jams it in Levi's mouth.

Thinking fast, you take Leviathan's Pokeball and recall her. As soon as she vanishes in a flash of light, an electric bolt flies through where she was and into the wall next to you. Rock debris strikes you in the back and you and Regirock both splash into the water.

You sink into the pool, staring at this unstoppable Pokemon as it stares back at you. Why doesn't it quit? What's it thinking, you wonder. Maybe it's thinking the exact same thing. Maybe it doesn't think at all.

An eternity passes.

Regirock finally turns away, and digs into the ground under the water. It retreats.

That's all for tonight. I'll be on tomorrow, starting and ending a bit earlier.
