Last time on Fantasy civ quest the journey continues, the adviser is slowly coming to a dreaded realization, undead were encountered, and currently your having a talk with a vampire count who is quite friendly to guests.

All of this happened simply because of a simple walk in the woods...

so giving up on negiating with the count?

Your adviser points out the Count has bound to have a weakness or want the trick is figuring out what it is. Even if the Count himself cannot recall.

anyway last thread link http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/37249121/
>>
>>37359128
Dude I can't remember shit about what we were doing with that guy and I want to get back to civing. Can we Fate point him into whatever it is that we wanted and move on?
>>
Rolled 31 (1d100)

>>37359240
I was planning to do that anyway but if your willing to give up on it then very well.

Just think what you'll be missing out though...

Burning a fate point would indeed allow you to come to some sort of basic agreement.
>>
>>37359326
I am down to wait for more people to show up before we decide, but if the decision were left to me I would burn the point and move on.
>>
Rolled 46 (1d100)

>>37359395
Until then you can still attempt to negotiate pity you didn't bring anyone with you who could help more...
>>
>>37359445
I wish I had anything at all to contribute to this scenario. Guess I should go reread the last thread. I'll be back
>>
>>37359445
Velara and Ashley are both with us. Who else would have been useful?
>>
>>37359599
>>37359545
Also in the first few posts you said we have a hero resurrection, we have not used that yet... Certainly general viczar could negotiate this, or the HaX commander, or Cuban Pete could handle this?
>>
Hey guys, what are we up to now?

Also did we finish negotiations yet? I believe we were gonna burn a fatepoint on that.
>>
>>37359681
We'd need a vampire. Or somebody close.

Didn't we have a vampire hero in the last fantasy civ?
>>
>>37358932
Actually, on the topic of Civving I really want that metal mine. We have plenty of food and water right now.

Still, let's ponder on negotiations a little bit more
>>
>>37359773
The ghost named "djinn" that we never fully understood that functioned like a fantasy AI
>>
>>37359799
We don't have food settled yet, but we are close.
Metal soon should become a priority too, the dwarves must be restless
>>
>>37359773
We had a undead officer, tree girl, human sniper and ranger.

The hero from the last one would have a better grasp of nobility, I believe.
>>
Oh yeah, and here are the crude outlines of the terms we want to achieve with these guys.

What we want:
A full military alliance. If one of us is attacked, we will come to each others aid. Before declaring war on anything or seeking another alliance, we will consult the other.

Shared borders and protection. We're planning to expand into the forest one day, if the elves have left a lot of room, we want to fill their place. Likewise, there's a lot of dangerous things in the forest, so we want help keeping us safe in it. We'll be good neighbors to each other, warning them of any danger that might come their way.

We might also ask if some of our own undead could live in your borders, temporarily.

Nightime help. They work far better at night than we do, so we could use your help in such matters, especially in the forest.

What we offer:
The same terms above to be held by. If you guys come under attack, we will come to help you however we can, and will inform before we declare war.

Fresh blood, possibly by shuffling out people to bleed into jars or bowls.

Daytime labor. We'll work in the day, they work at night.
>>
>>37359872
Got the pastebin for richard? I remember we tried fluffing him to also be a commander, and the ability to split our army between two competent commanders would be amazing.
>>
Rolled 66 (1d100)

>>37359681
You could also summon a hero...

Resurrecting a dead hero doesn't bring them to you it just means they are now back in the game.

>>37359904
You do remember he outright rejected that last time right?
>>
>>37359904
Really, we want to merge with a vampire civ? Doesn't that seem dangerous? Im going back to rereading the last thread.
>>
>>37358893
The main reason our morale is low is we lack civilians to take care of the day to day task. To deal with it we ether find more people or disband some military.

>>37359128
Only things I can think of for the vampire are new things or something different for him. The book could be nice ... in way.

The adventurer could help with tails like no other.

... dam it got to go, working.
>>
>>37359978
>You do remember he outright rejected that last time right?
I know. We don't have anything good enough to give them yet.

>>37359999
They were absolutely friendly and hospitable to us, gave us a tour and a place to stay, and are well informed about the forest having lived and survived here for ages. They are a neutral party who doesn't make a lot of enemies, and the most suitable allies in these parts.
>>
>>37360072
>>37360041
Right, so how about we ask the vampires if there is anything we can do that they want.
The only thing I could see us wanting from them is trade and tech..
>>
>>37360072
Just start with something simple and we will add to it later once trust had grown. Do trade and non aggression pact with blood offerings or something like that.

>>37359971
Nope at work, but I posted his info in the thread about reviving.
>>
>>37360135
We did that. They already have all the trading they need.

They are an extremely pragmatic, self sufficient, and neutral party who know how to take care of themselves. They aren't interested in pop growth, have enough blood for the pop they do have, and seem content to lie here just as they have for ages.

But now is the best time as ever for us to move in next door since the elves have recently been expunged by slesh the slaughterer and her bunch, which means there's more room for us.
>>
>>37360177
Sounds good to me. Fate point it!
>>
>>37360194
Now let's not be too hasty now.

Here is something interesting to offer
"Well... Hmmm. Ok here me out on this. It's a long shot but I have a feeling you might be interested.
So my men have been complaining that they never get to practice this odd wrestling fighting... Thing. I don't care for wrestling my self I prefer dueling. I don't know much about what they are talking about but it involves a lot of grappling, pinning, and apparently pounding. From the way that talk about it they really seen to be passionate about it. I think it's called fæçkíñg or something like that.
Oh you heard of it? Great... Why are you looking at me like that...?
Well any way as a gift to my men I'm planing on making a nice building dedicated to the art of fæçkíñg reel soon, so they can practice and have lots of fun.
I bring it up because with all the strange and interesting creatures I have in my army ranging from reincarnating fox people to even a centaur; fæçkíñg wrestling them would probably be really fun and interesting.
If you agree to this treaty then you and yours can wrestle there when ever you want as often as you want."

The liveing conditions that they have is pritty shitty. We can build and fix the ruins they live in and clean up the land around them. Is that what they wanted?

"Ruling the world you say?
So you do have expansionists after all. And yet you're so profoundly set on isolationism and self sustainability. Why is that?"

Ruling the world? We can help with that. If you look at my army you will find that it is a mix of all kinds of creatures and power. That is because I am amazing at turning foe to friend. How faster to rule than to work with one that can do that. With you ruling the night and me the day, we will take the well of ascension.
>>
Rolled 66 (1d100)

>>37362391
"You are aware of where we are yes? A place forever torn by war. Peace is nothing but a concept here. This place you get only an uneasy truce and temporary trade that will provide."

"yet the young and the foolish make their follies on their own and not dragging us down with them. I have had more then enough from surviving through the age of darkness alone."
>>
>>37362521
The age of darkness can end. And it will be ended by those who do not stand alone but stand among ally's and friends. If you ally your self with us it need not be an uneasy one. We trust our friends and as long as you don't betray us you will be our... My friend.
>>
>>37362314
excellent, the fluffier the better
>>37362356
cheers mate
>>
>>37362521
How can a group of vampires be not only self sustained but isolated as well? There is no food that grows here so you can be keeping blood cattle. You are isolated in a corrupted forest that no wanderer, hunter, or trader will enter so you can't be feeding off them. So how I ask can you be this? You must be scraping for blood where ever you can find it. But we can provide more. Much much more.
>>
>>37362521
"But what if we could make this place safe? For the both of us?

What if we could promise an alliance that would never betray?

Did the elves ever ask of you the same, or Slesh? And yet you do not ally with them either. For Slesh seeks slaughter, you know this, and the elves had a disdain for her.

But we have no quarrel with either.

But we can offer you the one thing they can't. And that is peace, and a more secure peace at that."

>>37362774
>Actually apparently they have access to some damn good traders
>>
>>37362521
Yes you survive but you do not thrive. You are like a candle. Burning alone and burning slow. You removed yourself from the world and it's heat to prevent you melting faster. But alone you can not make more wax and you will eventually burn out. Alone you will only fade to nothing. But you can take the chance to become great and greater. Together we can be more. Together our flames can shine.
>>
>>37362829
"And not only peace but hope for the future. For a time without war. A time where all can build with out the fear of destruction of war."

"Their host dies and they along with it."

"You are welcome to perish sooner as you are doomed for but we will live on. It is only your nature to see it that way after all..."

"But do not drag us down to your level mortal."
>>
>>37363310
Completely fair.

We need to get the morale problem fix and that will need a recruitment drive or disband. Then we should think about rebuilding the farm after what the fae did.
>>
>>37363490
>"You know what happens when parasites 'thrive'?"
>"Their host dies and they along with it."
"But you have proven that you are masters of self restraint and sustainability.

You ARE thriving in the most optimal way by ensuring your demand does not exceed your supply.

What we offer is a way for you to continue to practice that on a larger scale. That your supply increases, so that your reasonable demands can and will be sustained."
>>
>>37363563
We came here to go to war with monsters so we wouldn't have to disband. I'd say we let the hero return home, fight off some monsters, and the casualties+action should solve the overabundance of military.

>>37363595
Yeah I'm into not killing people off slowly. Plus that will hurt morale even more. We can go help some people and build up trust in the near by villages. Then recruit them into the fold or keep up with the undead and see about acquiring some undead workers.

No, no the hero from the last fantasy. That richard.

http://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/33493585/#33493585

>One such advisor was Sir Richard Jeffery Didrickson the 5th. Taking with him some of the family rangers and expert crossbowmen, he gathered a force of his families hunters whom were loyal to him.
>>
Rolled 28 (1d100)

All this fervor for the Richard of the Didrickson family...

Alright then Summoning certain hero commencing...

------

Meanwhile at a certain location where plotting was going on.

"You sure this is a good idea?"

"We HAVE to get someone who can...compensate for our Leader in...certain matters."

"Aye that we do."

"Yeah but was it a good idea trusting them?"

"Psht just about everyone agrees and we got the ritual."

"I do hope this doesn't go wrong..."

-------

In a deep dark canyon...in a crevice certain items were collected people were brought forth, and the ritual commenced.

"What happens if this goes wrong?"

"It wont."

"How you know that?"

"You'll see..."

Suddenly with a flash of light a...stunningly handsome figure arose. Like...DAMN he is HAWT.

Who after looking around with round eyes abruptly jumped up hands in the air shouting "I am ALIVE! Only after those who summoned him entered the light did his expression change.

"Aw shit....maybe I would of been better off dead."

"Greetings hero I am Wuz and we been expecting you."

Hero acquired stats had been given and his name already been provided how noice.

"...It ain't a she is it?"

"nope why would you ask that?"

"Oh good I thought you were trying to get me married...again."

"Hey now that was only a joke."

"Uhuh."

"Next time how about you don't enter a game that you don't know the prize too hm?"

"...but it was fun!"

"Sure it was for you maybe."

A supply of Booze for the men
A generic key that opens any locked thing, even things locked by magic words, without activating any traps

New prize for booze 1 currency.

New price for mining supplies 1 currency.

new price for key that will create doors 1 currency for 1 time use, 2 for multiple charges, and 3 for reusable.

Key that unlocks any door 5 for 1 currency single use, 1 for multiple charges, 2 for reusable.

>>
>>37368877
That won't work. The towns already are protected by bands of mercs 10,000 strong. We would be nothing. Instead have him spread the word that our bace is a good new trading stop, and that there is good farm land that can be worked for those willing to join is, he can spread this in the lower to low middle class, they are the most likely to come and they won't be missed by the towns they leave.

Nah, reread that post. There are plenty of ignored towns/villages/hamlets/etc.

For the low moral we should have The Great Hunt. We all ready killed done of the monsters in the forest. But this time lets go all out and slougher them. Let the men have there fill of battle. Have them take the hide of every monster they kill. The one with the most hides wins. If we still have beer we will drink it when the hunt is done. Have any of our heros with any ability that will help determine the value and use of the pelts and what monsters can be eaten. We will keep the ones that can be eaten for food and sell the rest of the monster body's to the traders for what ever we can convince them to give us for them.
It will be great. I suggest burning something when we do it.
>>

Now now, even the Vampires admit that monsters make a decent buffer out of anything. But I have a feeling we're never going to run out of monsters anytime soon.

Only sell the meat to the ekeybef traders (probably as dog food or fertilizer. Or just as the real thing. What ever gets us the most money) then we take all the bones from all the monsters we killed and sell them to the undead merchant that took all the weapons and armer from the slaughtered elves. We sell them and getting a good price for them because we talk about how much he can sell them to the skeleton that's crazy about bones for.
Then we buy from the undead merchant all the armer/weapons from the slaughtered elves using all the money we got from selling the bones (unless we can buy all of it with out using all the bone money) we will get a good price by talking up how damaged the armer/weapons are after the slaughter and how they can't have been all that good seeing as the elves got slaughtered in the first place.
Then we take the new weapons/armor we bought. We clean them off. We repair them to the best of our abilities. We outfit our army with them to all who are able to use them. The weapons will probably all be used but a lot of the armer won't fit the monsters and dwarves with us so there will be leftover armer.
Then we sell the left over armer to the ekeybef traders and get a good price for them by talking up how rare it is to find eleven anything around here (because they are all dead).

Boon. After all that trading we will have better armer/weapons and more money.
And I haven even begone talking about what we will do with the monster hides.

Thing about Genie is he's particularly fond of the infinite variability of monsters concerning size and shape.
>>
>>37370159
That's why I'm focused more on fluffing the post hunt trading. The moderate boon can be used to make the hunt an amazing success.
>>
>>37370201
I already have over a page if fluff and it's not even half way done
>>
Bump
>>
>>37370201
A boon should be used on a permanent modifier to the civ, not a one time event.

Why aren't we using boons anyway? Isn't it better to use them now so we profit from them in the longrun, like an investement that compounds, instead of later? or worse, not use them at all and we're dead.
>>
>>37372017
I believe it's because we have a hard time agreeing on things. With the three boons we have and the 3 fate points a lot could be done.

For instance say we use the 1 minor boon on the farm. Fluff that shit to be a super farm because of the ashes enriching the soil. With a tiny bit of wild magic giving a special crop.

That major boon could be used for making a mass undead Alliance. We have the vamp and could base a event off of that or the little lady.

The uber boon could be used to make a town upgrade for undead and living working better together. Say something happen after the new Alliance. Like our clerics, magi and members of the undead formed a master plan to imbue the keep to allow undead and living to Live In harmony. This could mean our undead can get stronger with our hurting our people. Plus something that big of undead and living people working in harmony could be good for our rep.
>>
>>37373674
So although I hate to say it use a fate point on the great hunt? It need to go well and I can fluff the trading after it but the hunt needs to be a good one

I'd say the Uber Boon and/or Major Boons would be better spent on finding some sort of lucrative resource within our territory. How quickly our civilian problem would solve itself if the dwarves were wandering around...and then discovered an intact, abandoned mine full of MAGIC JEWELS.
>>
Genie if I can get some info on the undead merchant that would be nice. Otherwise I'll just wing it
>>
>>37368197
Mmkay, let's take a look at our problems right now...

>Food: Below Average
Can be fixed by improving the fishery, and/or rebuilding the farms (possibly burning a boon on either to doubly-improve it, Delim's fluff-suggestion for improving the farm is particularly good).

>Water: Average
Fine for now with our current population, we'll want to set up aquifers or something soon though.

>Morale: Low
Can be fixed by acquiring 'companionship' and civilians so that our troops don't have to do menial tasks. Also throwing parties and appeasing our more warlike military forces by...building an arena or something? Dunno, but whores and booze would probably help.

>Medicine: Low
If we improve the farm then we can likely establish an apothecary's garden off of it easily.

>Health: Low
Will be improved if we address our medicine, food, and water issues.

>Fuel: Poor
What? Fuel for what? (we can get lumber if needbe)

>Defenses: Nil
Needs to be addressed, can do this by getting our quarry properly running.
>>
>>37380045
An excellent to do list, although right now I believe we have consensus and are waiting for Genie. But it's an offday for her, I'm at work, so I can't help much.
>>
>>37379554
Even better would be if we get some monies to buy Dwarven mining equipment...

Then we burn a fate point on "establishing a mine" in our territory...

And we burn the Uber Boon to spawn all sorts of goodies down there.

Finding an abandoned mine is asking for Genie to fuck us up.
>>
We also shouldn't forget that we have a thread survival bonus or 2 to burn...that Genie forgot about.
>>
>>37380904
We have mining equipment. It was purchased cheap with my crit.
And don't worry about money. After the fuck ton of fluff I'm writing we will be good on cash for a bit. You guys are going to love Harold Hill and Mark Maker. The leaders of the poor peddlers.
Question about fluff. How much of it becomes in game real? Not just the characters but events as well?
>>
>>37382148
Depends. Fluff (for practical purposes) grants bonuses to the roll of the action it's for.

Just be careful to not overstep your bounds with anything too extravagant and it'll all happen.
>>
>>37382215
And if I do overstep them? I mean the stuff I have them doing involves them conning and talking them selves in to a good deal. I mean the only time we saw them work was a huge success so I thought they could pull off>>37369650
Pretty well. I'm writing out the hole thing. Is that overstepping?
>>
>>37382320

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/35962494/
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/35854976/
You can specify your plan, and have your Poor Peddler-leaders talk about how they're /planning/ to do all those things...just don't assume anything will turn out as you plan.
>>
>>37382414
So if a make it that the hole thing is actually just the main trader day dreaming about how all of that will go down as he walks to his first con. Will that be good. I don't want to rework the hole story.
>>
>>37382148

Well you got small, tiny, large, huge, and fukhuge variety.

Monsters can vary quite a bit anywhere from magical critters, evil monsters, to stuff from monster hunter.

The undead merchant whose name I have forgotten smells heavily of spices(amazing he actually not only doesn't he smell bad he actually smells quite good). He is covered in wraps and a semblage of fancy layers of clothing with jewelry mixed in.

He has one glowing eye while the other is covered with a metal plate studded with jewels that flicker. His glowing eye is deep dark blue.

>>
>>37399701
there is way too much data to absorb already, plus the fact that we virtually have no idea what our troops can do.

We need to regroup and find a task for our army, because we currently have an army with a small civ attached and a bunch of heroes that seemingly could care less about the affairs of the army and would rather galavant off in the woods playing with naked chicks and vampires
>>
>>37399821
I have war plans already, there are endless amount of monsters to kill and land to live in with the death of the Elves.

I just wish Genie would update the map of where the Vampires are so I can properly draw some reasonable border expansions
>>
>>37399838
Honestly I would rather dissolve most of the army and focus on our base for a bit. Aside from the fishery we have made next to no progress on infustructur. We need to get our dwarves mining, and rune crafting already.

"Ahem now we shall start the meeting about the troops...and in attendance is...well only three people really?"

"Well you never did buildup a council now did you," puts out Valeria.

"Hey don't look at me I am new," points out Richard the new guy.

"Well...fine be that way," so states the big boss upon leaving muttering about crappy advise and might as well look at the troops.

Look Around activated.

Grunts appeared rather neutral but tired of dealing with lesser non military duties.

Clerics would like some proper religious channels and less duties.

Dwarven alchemists and runesmiths want proper materials for their work.

Dwarven troops and snipers are deeply unhappy with having foul goblins and riff raff among them.

Dwarven sappers are bored...also would like some proper supply channels rationing sucks arse.

The katonines seem...oddly happy. Apparently they don't mind current affairs one bit.

Scourges are tired of waiting in dark crevasses of the canyons. They want to hurry up and prove yourself or else.

Turncoat Levies are tired of being bullied by all the other units, forced to do tasks, not looting, and are exhausted. They are the closest to breaking and would prefer to being released if they aren't gonna do any duties...

The heavy infantry are satisified but bored.

The oozes...are well oozes.

Beasts could use proper facilities...

Hobgoblins are wishing for expansion and are sick of the nearby dwarves...strangely their views towards humans have improved quite recently for some reason...you have no idea what it could be...

Barbarians are tired of lesser duties and unless they get action would rather be released from service. Unlike the levies though they aren't quite at the breaking point.

Ruffians would like some proper action...
"So...how do we deal with morale then?"

"uh...make them happy," simply states Richard.

"Figure out the what is causing low morale and then try to fix it," points out Valeria.

So here's what I'll propose. I like our big and giant army, it's the safest security we have at the moment.

I want us to use our Uber Boon to give us a MASSIVE bonus to internal cohesion and patriotic discipline. Such to the point that we don't ever have to worry about units breaking off and deserting, and they'll stomach any civilian duty or lack of action with a smile.

The Major Boon I want to go towards a construction/upgrading bonus, we're going to build everything we want and need faster than we've ever before.

The normal Boon I want to go towards I want towards recruitment/alliances by being great at convincing people to do the things we want them to do, and working out deals.

Basic 1
Turncoat Levies are hereby disbanded and relieved of military service, with honors.

Dwarves both troop, civilian, and sappers are given the new tools and told to go dig for new mining operations. We'll use the new metals in the creation of materials and tools for later projects, and it will get them away from the Goblins.

War Action
We have only but scratched the edge of the forest of monsters, this time we'll exterminate them.

In particular we'll set up a forward base towards the forest and our vampiric allies on the river, giving us access to it's waterways and as a buffer against further incursions from the forest.

It will be as a GREAT HUNT, and the one who gathers the most hides shall be excellently rewarded.

Burn the nests, kill the rest.

In particular bring in hte Scourges, the Ruffians, the Felled Fighters, and Night Order Nights, the Heavy Infantry, the Barbarians, and the Hoboblins (particularly distance them from the Dwarves).

Split our groups into two forces under our Commander and Richard, and make a two pronged attack from the north and south. With two armies and two leaders it will be easier to maneuver the army, and we'll trap them in a pincer assault.

Skin and hide every beast, destroy every nest, burn down the area where we plan to set up a secondary township (later)

Hey Genie, just to clarify, we should have:

1 Uber Boon from new years
1 Major Boon from new years
1 Normal Boon from new years

and 1 Thread Survival boon right?

>>37404725
>Remember she only met the boss and NOT your forces who wont likely be friendly...
Why won't they be friendly? Will they at least be disciplined enough to be civil while she's in our camp?

If she won't be a problem then I say end the hunt. Gather the body's and the hides. Inform the men that if the see her show her the upmost respect.

Why end the hunt, it's not like we have anything else to do but keep slaughtering monsters with our war action and give the troops the action they been missing.

Basic 1
We have just cleared out a large expanse of area and killed all the nest. Now it is time to HOLD it, and prevent new monsters from ever returning to lay new ones.

Burn out the trees along the river banks, and set up watchtowers behind the new tree lines with large lamps to keep an eye out, as well as stong wooden walls.

The Hobgoblins want us to expand, we have expanded, put them to use holding our newest expansions as a garrison force.

In addition, our beasts now have lots of room in the recently cleared forest to roam, and can be put as guard dogs to further make sure the monsters do not return.

Let us prevent them from ever coming back.

War Action

Our 2 leaders did admirably on the hunt, why stop now, we shall keep the momentum going. Regroup our forces into one great force, still under the command of our leaders. Two armies working in conjunction. They are to cross the river bank and sweep around the other end, slaughtering all monsters in their wake.

This way they'll also help in ensuring the monsters are driven away from our new territory, making the garrison forces job of patroling night and day to preven their return much easier.

Burn the survival boon on the next phase of the Great Hunt!

When our troops attempted to get across the river they were attacked by river monsters...

When our forces managed to finally get across and commenced their sweep they were ambushed again and again.

All the while experiencing heavy resistance.

Our troops bled dearly...

Forces lost 200 on the passing of the river.

We lost 400 to ambushes.

We lost another 100 during the sweep.

In the end our forces were pushed back past the river.

Following units have been utterly wiped the fuck out.

Biting of limbs.

and worse.

Finally after breaching into the forest I troops walked right into a brutal ambush by the awaiting monsters...as if they KNEW we were coming.

That was when our troops rallied and attempted to break past the blockade...that they succeeded in.

Only to be regularly ambushed and bled dry with the constant fighting as they advanced. It wasn't long before a retreat was called for.

So our troops attempted to push back across the river all in order to getaway from vengeance of the monsters.

Peddler prodigy chapter 1

You wake up early with the dawn. Time was money after all, and you where not one to waist money. You are Harold Hill the leader of the poor peddlers, you like the name because it makes others think less of you. It's easier to get a good deal out of them when they don't think your capable of it.
After you morning meal of bland something you thing is soup you head off to see the boss man. Val told you yesterday to see him, something about the hunt.
Making your way to the center of the keep you see you coworker and partner in "not" crime. His name was Mark Maker. A short almost round man with a face like a pit bull. As opposed to your own talk boney self.
"Morning Harold, you on your way to see da boss?" Mark said.
You never really liked it when he talked. Mostly because he sounded like he was fighting with his cheeks for dominance.
"Yes, he has a new project for us. He must have been impressed with how we handled the Ekeybef caravan" you reply in that snide way you use when you talk to those under you.
"Oh that was a fine bit of work that was, we bent that bloke over a crate and really gave it to him." Mark said wrestling the words out
The two of you make your way to the courtyard where you saw the boss waiting. You liked the boss. He was a good leader even if he was a bit odd when if came to women. What you didn't like was the open barrels of meat and gore along with crates of something next to him.
Greeting you with a smile and a firm hand shake the boss said "Good morning Harold morning Mark. Did you both sleep well?"
"Well enuf" you say in cynical tone. Although you liked the boss you never liked being around him, it always felt like someone was watching you.
"Oh I slept like a new born babe. Even had a nice dream about... Err on second thought I'll leave out what it was about" Mark said not making eye contact with the boss. Must have been a sex dream then. Those always made Mark feel guilty around the boss.
1
>>
>>37405984
"Glad to hear it. Because I have a big job for you guys." He gestures to the barrels of gore and the crates of what you can now see as bones.
"I want you guys to sell this, this is all the meat from the monsters we can't eat. I took the liberty of having the bones removed to be sold to the undead merchant."
"The what?" You say looking at the boss with a deadpan look
"The undead merchant, don't worry I worked everything out with the vampires and the zombies. They know you are coming and they won't give you any trouble. I'll even have a squad escort you to feel safe" the boss said grinning like fool. It was odd working with him. He seems to make the strangest of friends.
"Why are we selling it to the dead guy?" Mark asked
"Well recently the vampires slaughtered a hole bunch of elves. Hundreds possibly thousands. And entire army. The undead merchant got all the armer and weapons." Replied boss
"Ok... Ok. So what do you want done with the... I didn't know meat could even be that color" you say
"I want you to try to sell it at to the Ekeybef" said boss
Surveying the 4 dozen barrels and two dozen crates you reply "I... I'll think of something." You had no idea, but then again you preferred to wing it.

You spent the next hour having your workers lode up the carts with the great hunts great leftovers. Dam dose the meat stink.
Once the carts where loaded you make your way to the new trade outpost.
Pulling up you see Jeffry directing the loading of a cart. The fidgety mess of a man was some how the leader of the Ekeybef caravans.
"Good evening Jeffry, I have got a deal for you!" You say with a winning smile and in that smooth sweet voice you use on those who your about to fist for all they are worth
2
>>
>>37406007
"Oh. Err up h.hello Harold and um Mate. What do you mean by deal"
The poor man was still fretful from the last time you did business with him.
"We. Are about to make you a very happy man" said Mark.
Mark and you where starting to walk around Jeffry as you talked.
"We have something truly amazing. 4 dozen barrels of to quality fresh monster meat" you say with bravado
"M.monster meat? W why would I want monster meat? That stuff is worthless?" Jeffry said confused
"Worthless? Oh no no no you are mistaken sir" said Mate
"Mate, I don't thing this man knows it" you say. You have an idea now and Mate was normally quick to pick of on your plans.
"Not a clue in his pretty little head" said Mate as he continued to circle Jeffry
"What is it? What don't I know?!" Asked Jeffry in a worried tone
"Oh nothing more than the incredible uses if monster meat my good man" you say.
From behind Jeffry, Mate gave you a quick nod of understanding
"This meat has the power and ferocity of the monsters it once was. Feed it to a dog and that dog will defend you with a monsters strength." Mate said
"Use it as fertilizer and that land will fight off weeds with a monsters ferocity" you say
"Oh there are so manny uses for this stuff. In fact Harold, why are we even selling it? We should keep this amazing stuff for ours selves" mate said
"We should but as a favor we are giving Jeffry here this incredible deal."
Jeffry was looking from you to Mark to the barrels and back to you. He was worked up and ready for final blow.
"And to top it all off we are going to sell it to you for half price! That's right half. Instead of 10 gold a barrel it's 5! But that's not all! If you buy all of then I'll lower it to 4 a barrel!" You say really working Jeffry up.
"I'll. I'll take it! I'll take them all!" Jeffry said as he walked to a chest and started counting gold.
"There you go 194 gold"
3
>>
>>37406021
"Now remember Jeffry. This deal is a favor. I might need to call that favor in." You say looking Jeffry in the eye.
After a swallow Jeffry replies "of corse sir I understand"
Poor fool, you almost felt sorry for him. Almost.
One hour later you where walking through the woods with a squad of guards. Dam this place is creepy, red eyes glowing in the shadow but true to bosses word none of them attacked.
You had no idea how you where going to sell bones.
Before long you arrived at a wooden shack next to a cave.
You walk up to the door but before you had the chance to knock it swung open. Before you is a nicely dressed corps with a top hat and a monocle over a gem studded metal plate where his left eye should be. The other eye glows a deed deep dark blue. Strangely he dose not stink. In fact you are surprised to find that he smells nicely of fine exotic spices.
"Greetings!" The zombie said in a far too cheery rasp.
"So how manny bones do you have for me? Oh and the names Mort."
"I. How do you know I'm selling bones?" You ask uneasily. This guy wasn't really creeping you out, but he was definitely not what you where used to.
"I can smell them!" Cheered Mort
"Well then" you tried to get back in to your groove "I have just for you some very spe-"
"I'll give you 3 gold a crate" Mort said cutting you off.

Seems good, but the plan for the normal boon would probably be better spent giving Didrikson some sort of bonus/ability to diplomancy/recruitment/persuasion.

I heartily approve of the Uber Boon plan's spirit, but you ought to phrase it...slightly differently. As it is currently phrased Genie would likely make it such that our current forces would receive everything you're asking for, but any more forces we acquire would not. On another note, this would likely synergize with the commander's leadership abilities for even greater effectiveness.

The plan for the major boon is also a good one, very forward-thinking. Pity we don't have a unit we could invest it into so that it'd be more effective (generalized 'civ trait' bonuses are bound to be less potent).
Haha, oh wait we do. Dwarven Sappers. I can already see the madness approaching.

Investing it in the dwarven sappers really probably isn't the best idea, but damn it'll be fun.
>>
>>37406036
"3? Oh no no no, these are not normal bones. These are monster bones. Fresh at that. I wouldn't sell them for anymore than 15" you say in your sails pitch voice.
"5" Mort
"12" you
"7" Mort
"10" you
"8" Mort
"Deal!" You said. You always loved the fast back and forth haggling.
You shake on it. Morts hand felt cold and clammy with the wrappings on. You make a mental note to soak it in the strongest drink you can get to sterilize it when you get back to the keep.
With the gold you got from Jeffry and the gold you got now you had a total of 384 gold coins not a bad haul. Now to see what you can get for it.
Mort mark any you walk out side to supervise the unloading of the crates.
"So Mort. It has come to my awareness that recently got your hand on some elf weapons and armer" Mark inquired
"I got a hole bunch of that stuff. Most of it has been sold for blood money and all that's left are the rejects but you are welcome to look it over if you want." Said Mort in a rather mater of fact way.
"I keep my inventory in that cave come on."
You follow the cheery zombie in to the dark cave Mark pulled out a lantern that soon became the only light source. Mort walked ahead of you. From the way he never tripped or even hit his head you could guess that he could see in the dark, or at least low light, probably had something to do with the glowing eye. Eventually you enter a sprawling chamber in the cave. It is filled with stacks and stacks of crates. Mort guides you to stack near the entrance.
"Here we are. This is all I got left of the elf armer and weapons. It's 50 gold a crate." Mort said.
50 gold wasn't that bad for a crate of armor. You wonder if you should push your luck.
"Care if we examine the merchandise?" Asked Mark
Mort gestured to the stack as if saying be my guest.
5
>>
>>37406058
You stud by trying to think of what angle you where going to play this next part as Mark pried open a crate.
Inside was a mismatch mess of busted up armer and slightly damaged weapons all still coated in the dried blood of the elves that died using them.
"You want 50 a crate for this? It little more than scrap metal. And it's covered in elf blood, do you have any idea how hard elf blood is to clean off?" You ask
"Oh I know very well. Very well" Mort said in a way that reminded you of a wolf after a very satisfying meal of babies.
"Well I I'm not pay 50 a crate for this trash. It can't have been that good to begin with seeing as how the elves using it got sloughed. From the looks of it this armer didn't fair much better. I'll give you 25 per crate." You haggle
"Trash you say? Well if it's such trash than why even buy it? If it's such trash than wouldn't you be better off getting armer and weapons elsewhere?" Mort asked calling you bluff
"Call it respect for the dead" Mark dead paned.
Oh shit mark. He normally know just the right thing to say but now it going to get us killed. Fuck you Mark you pug faced gnome of a man.
Wait. Mort isn't killing us. He is laughing. A lot.
It takes some time for Mort to stop, but when de dose he looks at you both and says
"Oh thanks I needed that. I haven't had a good laugh like that in decades. Tell you what. I'll sell you guys this stuff for 20 gold a crate. But just this once." Mort said wiping what you hope is a tear from his eye.
"You got you self a deal" Mark and you say in unison
With your 384 gold you buy 19 crates of damaged elf weapons and armer, with 4 gold left.
On the way back to the keep you was Mark.
"How did you know to say that back there? It wasn't even that funny but that guy acted like it was the best dam joke ever"
6

Sappers are currently away with the rest of the dwarves digging for metal. Hopefully they'll return soon.
>>
>>37406077
"I don't know gov. I just had a feeling eh" Mark said
"Odd" you state
"Yep odd. So what now? We can't give the boss useless armer. The weapons are ok for the most part but we are lucky it even 1/3 of the armer is any good." Mark asked
"I've been thinking about that. I might have an idea."
Later that afternoon you where walking down to pub. It wasn't really a pub but one forward thinking dwarf repurpose a storage closet in to the closest thing to a pub around.
"Evening Hagdor. I in a bit of a rush right now so I'll make it quick. I need a bottle of the best and strongest drink you have." You say
"You planing on making another pass on the centaur gal?" Hagdor asked
"No no not this time, I need it for a bribe."
"Well ok then"
Hagdor reaches under the counter and the sound of a lock being undone is heard.
"Here we are one bottle honey gold ale aged 200 years. That will be 10 gold." Hagdor says.
Shit you only have 4. Think of something fast.
"How about we work something out. You sell that to me for 4 gold and I'll put in a good word to the boss. See if I can get your request for building a real pub approved" you say
"You. You would do that for me sir? A real pub? It's always been my dream to run a real pub." Hagdor said starry eyed
"Yes I would if you also let me and Mark drink for half price" you say
"Oh you have got your self a deal" Hagdor said eagerly shaking your hand.
Wonderful now that you got the ale it was time to talk to him.
Stealing your self you walk to a different part of the keep. To where the sound of hammers hitting metal can be heard.
There you see a giant of a dwarf. Really he was about average human size but for a dwarf that was huge.
This was going to be a tuff one. Gwam was one tuff sell.
"Hay Gwam can we talk?"
Gwam stopes hammering and looks at you.
"Right well I just got a bunch of elven armer and weapons in, there in pretty bad shape. I need you to do what you can to fix them."
7
>>
>>37406092
Gwam says nothing. Gwam just looks at you. Judging you.
At this time Mark comes in with one of the crates on a dolly.
"Ah Mark just in time. I was just telling Gwam about the new score. Isn't that right Gwam?"
Gwam stares in to your sole. He says nothing, but no words are needed. You know what you did.
You where starting to sweat now.
"Mark open that crate let the nice man see what he will be working with."
You nervously gesture to Mark to hurry up, your plastered on smile starting to strain.
"Now I know it's not the best but you should be able to use the metal from the worst parts to fix what you can."
Gwam remains silent. You see reflected in his eyes every disappointed look you father ever gave you.
You where practically shaking now.
"A-as a show of gratitude I brought y-you this ale."
You place the offering of ale before Gwam.
Gwam finally looks away from you. He looks at the open crate. Then to the ale. Then to you.
With a voce like thunder chastising a mountain Gwam says
"One week, return then" Gwam has spoken.
With that your done. You bolt from the room.
"Mark have one of the men deliver the rest of the crates. I... I don't want to be around that man. He's... unsettling"
"I know what you mean. He is like if guilt and dread had a son, and that son was raised by a fire elemental, and then trapped that fire elemental in a forge to for ever fuel it's fires." Mark said
8
>>
>>37406114
"I don't want to think about it. I'm going to bed. Gwam drained me for today.
"Alright. Good night Harold."
You give a half hearted wave of goodby to Mark and make you way to your room. It was an eventful day, and a successful. If your father was still alive you would tell him to suck it, because you where a better trader than him.
You fall in to bed and drift off to sleep.
You wake up early with the dawn. Time was money after all, and you where not one to waist money. You are Harold Hill the leader of the poor peddlers. Yesterday was the great hunt, Boss has a project for you, and you just had one of your trading dreams. Now time to see if today plays out like it. They some times do. Those days are the days you shine.

A little constructive tips would be that concise formatting would also be of great use, there isn't really a need to say "he asked" after following an obvious question is there?

In truth the only thing that is observable about him is the glowing eye.
