Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread your son learned to talk and you taught a blind old man about the secrets of the universe.

You hold up a hand, cutting him off. “Hold your applause, Master. We're not finished yet. As I said, that was finalization. When you fall deep into a trance you'll find yourself in that strange expanse of golden threads. In front of you will be the runes you're trying to finalize, usually spinning and twisting together. In my experience, they're always blue in color.”

“Anyway, instinct should more or less take over around this point. You'll need to seize the runes and properly shape them, then find the section of the net which represents whatever it is you're trying to enchant on a metaphysical level. You'll rip out the threads that correspond to the object, then replace them with the shaped thread you made from the runes.”

“Once an enchantment is finalized, you have one more optional step you can take, if you so choose. My soul is still weakened, as we've already discussed, likely due to overexposure to the void. That's why I need you to perform this step for me. The casting of Permanency, to make the enchantment self-sustaining.”

“You can enchant an object without making the enchantment permanent, and in fact if you intend to do extensive experiments using enchanting I would strongly urge you do so with non-permanent enchantments, but for practical applications there really isn't any reason to make a non-permanent enchantment. I mean, I suppose if you were using it for trivial things like making a campfire or some such it would be preferable to make it a non-permanent enchantment but you shouldn't be using an ancient lost art for trivial things.”

(1/3)
>>
You pause briefly to gather your thoughts before launching into your instructions. “Right, okay. So you're familiar with the soul and how to manipulate it to some extent, you've meditated upon reality. Now, to create a permanent spell or enchantment you must tear off a piece of your soul and imbue it into the object or spell. In a very real way you're changing what was originally simply a confluence of vys filtered by the will of a vatis into an entity all its own. A living creature with its own will to some degree. Of course, these objects aren't sentient by any stretch of the imagination, but my point is that you shouldn't perform this ritual lightly.”

Your warning given, you move on to the actual practical instruction. “You'll need to meditate upon the enchanted object, and more importantly upon the runes you've now both engraved and activated. I've done those parts for you, so you may find this a bit more difficult than it otherwise would be. Anyway, once you're completely focused upon the runes, you must rip off a piece of your soul and force it into the runes. It's not a pleasant experience, and afterwards you'll feel a bit dead inside. Don't worry, the soul regenerates. You'll simply need to take a nap.”

You hand him the pipe, and he takes it with no small amount of reverence. “I think I get the gist of it. I imagine I can figure the rest out as I go along.”

You nod, worry twisting a knot into your gut. “Well... give it a go then, Master. I wish you luck.”

(2/3)

He closes his eyes, and you feel the connection you share sever as his mind recedes into itself. Several minutes pass, and then there is a massive burst of vys. Powerful enough that you can physically see the magic roiling off of his body like heat from the desert in the midday sun, the air around him shifting between red, blue, and green as energy suffuses it. You feel as if just being this close to him your vys reserves are being replenished.
>Vys Pool: (34/41)

Then his eyes open, and he looks dimly down at the pipe on the floor in front of him. He is not excited, he doesn't even smile as he taps it against the stone floor and watches the bowl ignite with a warm glow. He simply nods. “It has worked, then. I appreciate your help Mik. I see what you meant, the spell carries with it a mental and emotional drain. I nearly lost my grasp on the piece of my soul I tore free. Fortunately I have the necessary reserves to make up for such errors. If there's nothing else you needed, I believe I will take that nap you suggested.”

>There's nothing else, tell him to get some rest and you'll see him in a few days time. Head back to your estate to help out with repairs.
>As above, but instead of helping out with repairs you should take the day to read and meditate.
>Head to the Market and do some shopping, you've some things you need to pick up.
>Search the Vatis District for a shop selling magical armor, weapons, and trinkets. You want to get some new equipment.
>Make for the Noble's District and your parent's home, to invite your family to the party in a few day's time.

So I had an idea for a magic item: first we need the shockwave sword (the one that can store vys for us) and cast leech on it in a way that the spell gather the surrounding vys and direct it to the sword. If it behave as wanted, we then cast permancy on the leech spell.

That give us a sword that constantly gather vys that we can draw from, wich is rougthly equivalent to battle meditation (with the added bonus of monstruous shockwave at the ready).

few notes:

-I have no idea what effect the leeching sword would have if put in the cloak, so better ask ricky before.
-I have no idea what is the maximum capacity of the sword, and what happen when reached (probably nothing but better check before hand).
-manipulate could help us to modify the behavior of the sword before permancy is casted and possibly after. Slow is also possible to help reduce the leeching speed if it's too important (but we would need to learn it). once permancy is casted, perhaps poison can temporally desactivate the spell, as it eat vys away.
-other vatis migth consider it quite rude.
-I think that how (or at least something very similar) fulvia generator work.
-if we knew the vys rune, it should be possible to the same with enchanting.
-remember, every time permanency is cast, we should meditate to regain the lost part of our soul

>Search the Vatis District for a shop selling magical armor, weapons, and trinkets. You want to get some new equipment.

Can we please get Profectus a shield. I mean seriously, he told us back at the temple, and maybe he'll be less useless with a shield.

Emphasis on traveling equipment that amounts to what we can wear under our armor that isn't expensive black silk silver trimmed robes.
>>
>>37664863
I'm interested in the lightning thing he did, but in his current state he should rest first.

>>37664979
Shield for Prof is okay
>>
>>37664946
Why the sword? We'd be better off doing it to a gem, also having it leech 24/7 would cause problems draining vys from it, it also might kill us in our sleep by draining us to death
LOTS O PROBLEMS
>>
>>37664946
I think channeling leech into a sword only lets it leech from people you attack.
To make it passively draw in vys, we'd probably need to enchant it using sustain in some way.
>>
>>37664979
I believe he specified a shield "as big as he was" so that'd be a tower shield, right?

Soma, can Profectus grip things with his stone arm? Because if that's gonna be his off hand we'd need to find/make the shield fire resistant.
>>
>>37664863
>Search the Vatis District for a shop selling magical armor, weapons, and trinkets. You want to get some new equipment.

Backing getting Prof a damn shield. Though he has his own money and should be able to do it himself.
>>
>>37664946
Nice idea but for leach to affect vys it needs the vys rune
>>
>>37665024
He can indeed grasp things with his stone arm. He can't really do fine manipulation, but he pick things up without breaking/shattering/dropping them.
>>
>>37664946
Isn't the problem with a sustained artifact leech spell that it would continually draw Vys without regard to currently unknown limitations? I imagine the Gems have some sort of hard limit to their capacity.

There's also the fact that there's no Vys in the void, and if we're wearing the sword we'd need to find a way to keep it from drawing from us and only from the environment, though that's a simple gate if we have the right rune to exclude.
>>
>>37664946
That... might work, actually. I won't say anything beyond this; I'd recommend studying the shockwave sword and the enchantment already in place. That will give you a solid base to work off of.

based on this, my guess is that there a good chance we could learn the vys rune with the shockwave sword?

Whoops. Forgot to actually vote in favor of discussion.

Curse you shockwave anon, you've distracted me for the last time!
>>
>>37665190
I would like to be tactful about the lightning, don't push him to explain a bunch while he's drained. If it's super complicated we can just ask him later.
>>
>>37665190
Can we also be on the look out for a craftsman that would bind Chrys' mask and armor like she mentioned a while ago and for some basic traveling clothing as Mik suggested last thread(s)?
>>
>>37665243
Yeah, this. No reason to be a knob about it.
>>
>>37664946
Actually I'm really curious as to how a blade with a seemingly gem based enchantment on it will take to additional enchantment. Especially considering the gem itself was broken to produce the effect it currently has.

(Just finished marathon reading the whole quest)

Semi-long term projects for our Companions (esp if we are not bringing them along to our journeys)

-skull kid
creation of guns (from his word) in ours. Give him all our guns (not the vys one) and start small, like creating the amno those guns use and move on from there to the whole weapons. Long term, bug gun/ship cannons/artillery etc. Maybe even start Thaddeus arm Inc. or the like.

-Mortia
need more expansion or ideas from you guys, I’m thinking Mortia pharmaceutical.

don't want to see a 40 vys shockwave?

Probably not if we use manipulate or slow to have a slower leeching. That also why we should do test before hand.

>>37665022
>I think channeling leech into a sword only lets it leech from people you attack.

leech work by creating a vys funnel, I think we can choose from where and to where it work.

permanency can work on spell too

again, we need to test it before hand.

>There's also the fact that there's no Vys in the void, and if we're wearing the sword we'd need to find a way to keep it from drawing from us and only from the environment

I think we can temporally shut it down with poison or manipulate (or perhaps permanently in the case of poison)

Schedule Anon here. I’m halfway through the archives and I’ve got twenty pages of backlogged things we promised we would do. It’s time we’ve stopped fucking around. We’ve top tier stuff and the upgrades, as well as the knowledge to improve our companions. But we’ve been getting distracted by inconsequential bollocks after bollocks. Today, we’re rearming and reorganizing.
The first member of our party is also the member that needs upgrades the most, and the member that we’ve been neglecting the most; Fulvia. Inventory shows that we still have three sets of Technician armor, Optio armor, and our Centurion Armor. Fulvia is still currently wearing her layered armor with no enchantments. Skull Kid is currently unarmored.

>>30945041
Fulvia's Armor: It isn't long after that Fulvia returns from the back room, the owner of the workshop in tow. She's wearing what you can best describe as voluminous, layered robes with a cuirass of interlocking metal plates and a large hood. It, you suppose, means she doesn't have to waste nearly as much energy projecting an image of herself as a human woman. It doesn't look just terribly protective though. “Can you really call that armor? I mean, we could buy that at a tailor's shop.” She smiles, and peels back the layers of the cloth. Beneath each layer is a different armor, first interlocking plates on top, then lamellar hidden beneath that, and finally chainmail at the lowest level. “Yes, this is quite sufficient for my protection. It was listed at four hundred silver, however I believe you could negotiate it down to under three hundred with proper cajoling.”
>>
>>37665441
If the sword will drain vis in dangerous amounts, but poison stops it, we could enchant the sheat with poison. Thereby preventing it from gathering.
Although I'm defenetly not against making it a bit more secure by trying to make the leech effect leech when we cut people. It would make for a pretty good weapon against Vys users
>>
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/30936089/images/1395283668706.jpg

Fulvia is currently armored with common armor, while the rest of us are rocking top tier enchanted armor. We should provide her with either Optio armor or Centurion armor. Let's gear up our support.

>>30894760
Mathematical Magic: You unfurl the vellum scroll gently, careful not to tear the material since you can still return this for a refund after all. Most of the scroll is dominated by a series of formulae you have a little bit of difficulty comprehending. Your best guess is that it is meant to help one visualize the expenditure of vys as a mathematical procedure. If X amount of energy is expended in this way, then Y will result. While you're familiar with this interpretation, your master had drilled it into your head when you were young, it was never really your forte. You'd always preferred a more mystical, esoteric view of magic. Thus you look to the top of the page to see if it will go a little more in depth about what the formulae are trying to represent.

There ARE Vys Formulas. We need to get them to Skull Kid ASAP for his magical research. Fulvia can also have knowledge programmed in. We can have Skull Kid assist in programming in this knowledge. Besides upgrading Fulvia’s combat capabilities, having a trusted ally and ourselves interacting with her core will show her that we *can* be trusted, and hopefully repair our relationship.
>>
>>37665604
>The first member of our party is also the member that needs upgrades the most
Chrys was the first member of our party you bumbling idiot.
>>
>>37665604
In fairness skullkid is partially made of metal and fulvia is totally made of metal.
>>
>>31486570

Improving Fulvia’s Magic: He scratches the back of his neck. “Well, I've been meditating. Just not... frequently. I love sleep too much to give it up completely like you two seem to have.” You shrug your shoulders. “That is fine, sleeping is probably healthier in the long run anyway. Just try to squeeze it in during the day then, next time we stop somewhere for a few days.” He nods, and you turn to Fulvia. “I've been meaning to ask you, can you teach me Metal magic? You mentioned being knowledgeable.” She seems to snap out of her reverie, replying with. “Unfortunately no, my knowledge of magic is dependent on the body I inhabit. I lack all but the most basic understanding of magic.” Well, damn. “Is there any way you could learn more magic then” She thinks about it for a moment. “I suppose, if you were to enter the Core and program in the knowledge directly, it may work.”

“Programming” in knowledge is possible. Fulvia is currently being left behind by Prof’s, Darzi’s, Chryssa’s, and Skull Kid’s progress. This may have contributed to her feelings of isolation. Increasing her capability and our levels of interactions with her is crucial. The QM himself gave us a hint when he wrote an in-character observation of her becoming more distant. Helping to improve her *will* yield significant fruit. It’s not a negative sum game. The most immediate example would be Construct Creation.

>>32093389
Anti-Mage Construct Core: Fulvia snatches the core out of your hands and exams it. She seems rather uncharacteristically eager. “That was an Antimage Construct you encountered. Antimages were always quite violent, and very hard to control. Is this the core you retrieved from its body?” You nod your head, and she smiles. “Good, it is undamaged. If you would allow me to at a later date I could purge this of the corruption that fills it and you may be able to recreate a construct similar to the one you faced."
>>
>>37665604
Skull kid has armor made of palaka skin with minor desert enchantments.
>>
>>37665656
First in priority for improvement you obtuse pedant.

>>32143440
Golem Upkeep, Permanency: Yes, the permanency effect essentially makes it self-sufficient. It allows it to gather vys from its surroundings like most living beings do. It would probably cost the upkeep of the golem as a one-time fee. So if you make a massive stone and metal golem, casting permanency on it would cost 10 vys.

To further improve combat capacity, we can have Fulvia purify the construct core so that we can create an Anti-Mage construct to use against opposing Vatis, or as Mansion security. All ya’all that wanted Golems? Here’s your chance. Don’t pass it up.
>>

You recall that technique your Master used in the void, to hurl a bolt of lightning at Ricky. “Actually, before you head off to your well deserved rest. Would you mind explaining how you hurled a bolt of lightning in the void? So far as I was aware, such intricate spells were only available to Grandmaster Fire Vatis. By your own profession, you're not that skilled with Fire.”

Your master nods his head slowly. “I suppose it is something of a exclusive technique in this day and age. I read it in some book long ago and tried my hand at it. Essentially it relies on the assumption that the lightning which ushers from the clouds during a thunderstorm is a sort of...-”

He gestures vaguely towards the sky, searching for some word or another. “-well. It's not physical, but it's not wholly ephemeral either. It's vys channeled by nature itself, by a confluence of wind and moisture and heat. Anyway, what you must do is gather the vys towards your hand. Don't drink it in, as you'll likely feel compelled to. Merely let it gather around your hand. Once you have it in large enough quantities, sparks should begin to arc between your fingers. The power will grow and accumulate and becoming more and more cohesive until the process breaks down and you lose control of the spell. A bolt of lightning will shoot out, and usually put a hole through whatever you're pointing at.”

He nods, pushing himself to his feet. “If you'd like, I can give you a demonstration later. For now, I must rest. Thank you, Mikhael. You've given me much to ponder.”

>If the sword will drain vis in dangerous amounts, but poison stops it, we could enchant the sheat with poison. Thereby preventing it from gathering.

that a brilliant idea actually!

>Although I'm defenetly not against making it a bit more secure by trying to make the leech effect leech when we cut people. It would make for a pretty good weapon against Vys users

that would just turn it in a cool weapons, what i propose is a mean to constantly and effortlessly gather vys without need for meditation. that could easily double our vys reserve, and also slowly regen it during dungeon crawl.
>>
>>37665669
>The QM himself gave us a hint when he wrote an in-character observation of her becoming more distant.
That is a serious stretch, there's dozens of reasons for that.
>>
He shuffles out of the room, much of the sprightliness he'd previously displayed gone. You take a moment to extract a second piece of paper and quickly inscribe a list of all the runes you know along with what they mean, instructions to meditate on each at the bottom. That done, you stand as well and follow him as far as the stairwell before diverging. He goes up, whilst you go down to the ground floor. When finally you swing open the front door, you find your carriage sitting just where you left it. Your driver, Stelios, is presumably waiting for you inside. Assuming he hasn't run off, that is.

You stop up to the door of the carriage compartment and knock sharply. It swings open in a moment, Stelios standing hunched over in the doorway. You step aside, and he quickly exits. Once he's found his footing on the paving stones, he turns to you and bows low. You wait until he stands up straight before addressing him.

“I need you to drive around the Vatis district and keep an eye out for any stores you'd describe as... magical, esoteric, mystical, strange, or otherwise unusual. I've decided to pick up some additional equipment for myself and my companions.”

He nods and quickly hops up into the driver's seat. You climb into the carriage compartment and make yourself comfortable. The reins snap and in an instant the carriage jerks into motion, your thoughts drifting to just what it is you intend to buy. You definitely need a shield for Profectus, and perhaps an experienced smith to fuse Chryssa's armors together. You also want some traveling garb.

Then again, the best smiths live in the Common District, for the most part at least. There are certain Metal Vatis who likely far surpass them but they're actual Vatis and you'd need to look them up in the directory at the Grand Library to find them. Considering you're ineligible to enter the Grand Library, it's a task much harder than it sounds. All of that aside, Chryssa has her armor with her so far as you're aware.

Keep the centurion armor for the Rhynian ruins we might dive into in the future, if we find another set there, we can give it to Fulvia.
Remember that the 1st ruins we dived, we where only able to go that far because of it.

It's a good thing Profectus has no inclination of giving up his suite. Furthermore, Fulvia has demonstrated security subversion capabilities that go beyond the mere "aura" of authority the Centurion armor projects.

>>32344886
Fulvia Security Subversion Ability: You're about to reach down to place your hand on the surface when Fulvia grabs your wrist gently and pushes it away. “It won't open for you.” She states simply, before crouching down next to it and ripping out the bottom of the panel. ”Well how does damaging it get it to open?” Fulvia shakes her head. “Not damaging, simply exploiting a weakness in the security.” She rips out a number of wires, and then touches the torn ends of two of them together. They spark loudly and the door slides open. “See?” You nod, impressed. She'll need to teach you how to do that. You step hesitantly into the darkened control room, only for lights to spring to life as you enter. They shine harshly from overhead, bathing the room in sterile white light.
>>
>>37665862
We also have not fully explored the capabilities the Centurion armor. Best to stay versatile.

Also creating an antimage golem would require the schematics for the golem, not just having a core.

It may have a good base statline, especially for her current setup and for adding her much superior Elaudian Death Mask to, but I'm mostly sure 'better than any other' actually doesn't fit its description.

Meant any other armor we have open.

Speaking of which, we still have yet to meditate on the "mystery" Armor. We have multiple methods of doing so. The first is merely performing an appraise check with significantly boosted Vys to our roll.

>>30439688
Meta Note, Hints: Something like formulating a plan though, I would let you use Vys to get yourself a hint. 1 for a small hint, all of it for a rather clear and obvious hint that leave little else for you to do.

We could also meditate on the suit. She's number three on the priority list. I'd like to make a further note that this suit has the same reference image as the "rising people" that will become a major part in our lives. Lastly, Chryssa expressed interest in getting the Mystery armor Mask removed. We should get that done.

She has. She knows exactly what it does and much prefers the Death Mask.

“So, what does that armor do?” You ask Chrys while returning to the spot you'd been sitting prior the battle with the horrible monstrosity. You assume a meditation pose, preparing to slip into your trance while Chrys explains. “Well, I'm not really sure. I'm still experimenting. The mask has the same function as my other one, in that it allows me to see the currents of vys in the air. However it lacks the magnification or the tracking functions. My Death Mask actually allows me to easier spot footprints and follow trails, it was very handy.”

When most of the enchantments are in Chryssa's opinion, shit, we can afford to do away with it. I placed the notation about modification last because I believe an appraisal role boosted by Vys beforehand via meta-hint-system or Meditation would be best.

I mean, it's hard to say. It would've depended on rolls. The thing about the elephant was that, essentially, if it hit you it knocked you da fuq out. It speaks to the strength of the allows used to make Skull Kid's augments that he was able to hop up just fine a few minutes later.

>You nod along. “Do you think there is any chance you may be able to switch out the mask on that armor for the death mask?” She thinks for a moment, and then shakes her head. “I doubt it, not without possibly damaging the armor. Perhaps I will ask Hayes about such a task when we next see him, he seems like he may be capable of performing such a feat.” You shrug your shoulders. “That's probably wise, though there will be other crafters of similar ability in Pidjata I'm sure.”

she doesn't think it can happen and isn't holding out much hope.

>When most of the enchantments are in Chryssa's opinion, shit
It's not shit as a matter of fact the suit's mask is really good, it just that she likes the death mask better.

>she doesn't think it can happen and isn't holding out much hope.
So we shouldn't try, is what you're arguing for? Also there's no "forgot to quote" when you're quoting from the exact link you were given.

Mikael also suggests that other crafters may be able to do it in Pidjata, we're simply looking for the opportunity to do so in El-Amin.

It has plenty of other non mask based enchantments. maybe you're thinking of our warlock armor but the only specific one in her helmet was the Vys sight.

>When most of the enchantments are in Chryssa's opinion, shit, we can afford to do away with it
The only thing she mention was how her death mask was better than her Vys sight. Nothing about the majority of capabilities of her armor, don't make assumptions.

>>37666387
Well, the reason why Chryssa is using this armor is because we went full Gawain and told her to pick. This is her armor. I think her opinion and needs take priority, don't you?

For someone saying talking shit about the reading comprehension of others, you have shockingly little yourself. The query in context was, "Could you in the bottom of this mineshaft with no proper leatherworking facilities or tools, modify the Eludian Death Mask to fit the Mystery Armor with your own knowledge of leathworking?" The answer was "no." The conditional was that others might in proper facilities.

It's called skewing facts.

Like showing one side of an argument, or only part of a statement when the speaker isn't meaning to say what you are trying to portray them saying.

It's a dirty debate tactic that you use when you have no point.

And no im not saying we shouldn't try, it's just we have many more important things to worry about and that is something she can take care of on her own, it's her money and her armor.

It's a simple smear tactic, and generally easily dismissed by the showing of the entire video, unless the editor has the only copy in which case Tom is royally fucked.

You reach out to Fulvia, Chryssa, and Profectus using your brooches as the carriage rumbles through the Vatis District. {I'm shopping for new enchanted equipment. Profectus, I'm buying you a shield. You mentioned that you're sued to fighting with one. What sort do you want? Oh, and I'll be using your money to pay for it. At least, for your portion of it. You won't owe me anything. As for the rest of you, I figured I'd ask if you needed anything. I remember Chrys said something about getting her armor repaired and modified, and I figured we may as well get that done today.}

Fulvia seems intrigued, or at least that's the sort of vague impression you get. {I suppose I could do with a new set of armor, though I'm uncertain you need to buy anything. Truthfully my current set is fine, I don't intend on getting involved in much combat. Perhaps one of the suits of Technician's Armor you have stored would be sufficient.} She pauses before speaking again. {Though it is selfish of me, I must admit... if you find any AI cores, golem cores, or any strange gems of any sort, I'd like you to purchase them for me. I believe there is also a corrupt golem core stored in your cloak as well that I would very dearly like to study.}

You feel a bit uneasy about producing an army of golems for the aspiring world conqueror that is Fulvia. However, you're essentially doing her shopping in her stead. {It's not really selfish at all, I'll be using your money.}

Prof's voice is the next to worm its way into your mind. {I'd like a tower shield. At least four feet tall and half or more as wide. Five feet by three feet would be optimal but I mean, it's enchanted equipment. I won't freak out over a few odd proportions. Any enchantment is fine, but try to keep the price under a hundred gold. Anything more than that, run it by me first.}

That's a respectable enough request, you'd want the same courtesy. {Will do, Profectus. Chrys, what do you think about that armor?}
(1/4)
>>
Her reply is hesitant. {While I would very much like to have my reinforced technician's armor repaired and incorporated into the horned suit of armor I currently wear, and the mask attached to hood replaced with the Elaudian Death Mask, I would not wish to have this done by anyone not skilled in both armor crafting and magic. I believe that the mask of the armor may serve as something of a focal point for the entire suit, so I'd like to have it inspected by someone knowledgeable before risking its destruction or damage.}

{That said, the incorporation of the technician's armor should be a simple enough task. Then again, considering the number of modifications I wish to make it may simply be easier to buy a new set of armor. If you'd return to the mansion before setting off in search of a blacksmith I would be happy to join you. Alternatively, if you find a suit of armor that you think I may like, please contact me.}

{Will do, Chrys. I'll give you advance warning if I can't find anything satisfactory. Regardless, expect my return within two or three hours.}

You sever the connection and Zahak, who'd turned himself invisible before leaving the door and gotten into the carriage behind you, nuzzles his snout into your side. {Why come you make those quiet roars if you can talk to other people normally?}

You look down at your adoptive son, confused for a moment. {You mean the conversation I was having with my companions?} You get a generally positive impression, which you take as a yes, and continue speaking. {I can only talk with them like we talk because I have a magical artifact which allows me to do so. Non-dragons can't speak mentally, so far as I'm aware.}

Mathematical magic does exist. Our master knows quite a bit about it and getting the formula, processes, and methods of scientific magic to Skull Kid for his experiments and conversion into robo-language should be a priority.
>>
You take a moment to remove your brooch from where it binds your cloak around your shoulders and hold it up for him to see. {It's a pretty ingenious little tool, really. I wish I could figure out a way to reproduce it.} You refasten it to your cloak, and reach down to scratch at the base of Zahak's horn.

Unfortunately it isn't long before the carriage rolls to a halt and Stelios pulls the door open. “Sir, I believe that I have found a location for shopping that is what you desire.”

You nod, urging Zahak to stay inside while you climb out of the carriage. Stelios shuts the door behind you and stands in front of it stiffly, like a guard at the palace gates. You find yourself on a long stretch of road lined with more or less identical blocks of houses. Some have minor variances, a tower or an additional level or some such. For the most part they look the same. This part of the Vatis District was all built at once who knows how many thousands of years ago, so there isn't much in the way of variation that hasn't been added on later.

However, there is one exception to this rule. A squat, ugly little stone building that looks more like a prison than a house. A short stairwell leads down to the iron door, which sits fully below ground level. Tiny barred windows allow only the barest of glances inside. A sign hanging from the door reads simply “House of Wonders”. You suppose it is indeed quite odd, compared to the buildings surrounding it.

(3/4)
>>
You're a little hesitant, but descend the staircase regardless. You have to really put your weight into getting the door to swing open, as rusted as its hinges seem to be. They let out an increasingly hellish screech with every inch the door swings open. Eventually you manage to slip inside, finding yourself in a cramped, you'd even say claustrophobic, display room. A man stands hunched over a desk wearing some sort of elaborate, long nosed mask and a guard stands at one end of the room, eyeing you warily.

It's the masked man who speaks first. “Welcome! Welcome oh valued customer!” His voice is raspy and quiet, like he's not used to speaking. “What can I do for you on this fine-” He pauses to peer out the window. “-day, is it?”

You blow out a long sigh. “Let's see... I need a shield. A tower shield, to be specific. Preferably of Rhynian make. I'm also interested in maybe purchasing a full suit of armor, but it would need to be something that really grabs my attention. Oh, and any strange gems you might have. I'd like to inspect them. Other than that... just general objects of interest really. I'm shopping for several very powerful, very wealthy individuals.”

The man begins to speak, but descends into a coughing fit. Once he's recovered he clears his throat and tries again, voice just as hoarse if not more so than previously. “You are in luck indeed, my friend! I many such objects which are sure to impress. “We shall begin with shields, yes? I have two such items I believe will meet your needs.”

He pushes aside a curtain and vanishes beyond. You hear a variety of objects clinking together, and a loud crash at one point. There's a hellish shriek and a few muffled curses, then the roar of flame. Light flickers across the curtain for a few moments and the shrieking is silenced almost immediately. The roar of flame cuts out after a few more seconds, and silence reigns throughout the shop. Eventually the masked figure returns, holding a shield in either hand.

The one in his left hand is entirely wooden, a horribly unsettling face carved into its surface. It stares at you with a sort of hateful intensity you didn't think a mere wooden carving could reach, its tusked mouth seeming to snarl at you. You're not sure what the hell it is.

The other shield is a far more professional affair. It's constructed of solid steel, a design embossed in silver against a black background. It seems to you that it depicts some sort of bird, you wouldn't really be able to guess what sort exactly. Perhaps some sort of crane, stork, songbird, or a bird of prey not native to Pidjata.

The man clears his throat before speaking. “Now then, oh valued customer. We have the Shield of Aix, and the Shield of Leleki. Two of the most ancient of Elven gods. Of course, the elves have many gods and always have. More than any one man can count. However, these two are the most commonly venerated, so far as I'm aware. The situation may have changed over the course of the last... oh, eight hundred years since I visited Elven lands.”

He hefts the shield in his left hand, the wooden shield with a face carved into it. “This is the Shield of Aix, the Buck as they call him. As you can see he's horned and tusked. So far as I'm aware it peers into the mind of an enemy and, to some extent, seizes control of the wearer's arm. It moves itself to block attacks. Quite sturdy as well, though the materials wouldn't suggest it.”

Next he hefts the shield in his right hand, the metallic shield. “This is the Shield of Leleki. Leleki was viewed as chief of the so called 'Pantheon tou Dasous'. That is to say, the Forest Pantheon. It was the collection of gods worshiped by nomads, remote villages, and hermits. As the so called 'Vasilias Ton Theon', king of the gods, he was afforded certain rights and privileges. It's important to note that in Elven myth, there are many kings but only one 'Autokratoras', Emperor."

"Anyway, this shield affords the wielder the ability to change the very hearts of the enemy. It allows them to weaken their resolve, and cause them to flee or surrender more easily. Obviously it was most effective when used by large numbers of soldiers at once. By itself, well. I'm not sure how effective it would be.”

A note on coughing. You could hand wave most of the symptoms but probably not the actual cause, though you could certainly improve his condition vastly. If he had something like pneumonia, it would take a shit ton of effort at your current level of anatomical knowledge to carefully extract the mucous in his lungs and repair any damage you cause in the process. If it's something like cancer, you'd be shit outta luck. You'd need to cut out the growth and everything around it and heal the wound. Not really a quick process.

You step closer, leaning in to inspect each shield. You find it a bit odd, that the shield with the terrifying face predicts the next move of one's opponent while the sleek, professional looking shield terrifies its enemies. You're not entirely sure what to make of it. “How much does each cost?”

The man sets them down carefully on the floor behind his counter. “For the Shield of Aix, two thousand silver. For the Shield of Leleki, eight hundred silver.” You do some quick mental arithmetic to convert those numbers into gold. The Shield of Aix is about one hundred thirty-three gold and five silver. Where as the Shield of Leleki is about fifty three gold and five silver.

That in mind, you stand up and adopt a look of careful contemplation while reaching out to Profectus via the brooches. {Have you ever heard the names Aix and Leleki? I want to make sure this merchant isn't feeding me a line of bullshit.}

There is a brief pause before he responds. {Actually, yeah. Yeah I kind of do. I think they were the gods of the common folk. You know, farmers and woodsmen and miners and such. They were part of that pantheon at least. I was City-Born, so I never really paid much attention to them. Our gods were Niki, Ora, Mageia, Choros, Moira, Entropia, and Logiki.}

{Anyway, I think Leleki was the vasilias of the rural pantheon, he had the ability to see into the minds of men and predict the future. Then Aix had the ability to instill fear and wonder into the minds of others. They were pretty important, if I recall correctly.}

You glance up at the old man. He's merely fiddling with a bauble on his desk, some sort of pendulum clock. You wonder if he's made a mistake, or if he's trying to intentionally mislead you. Then again, what if he's telling the truth?

(1/2)
>>
>>37669399

>>
>>37669375
Or just kill him normally.

He's not worth Miks time or our time for anything special. Quick and clean so we can move on.
>>
{I think this vendor may have made a mistake then. He told me the Shield of Aix allows one to predict the future and siezes control of the wielder's arm to block attacks on its own. Meanwhile the Shield of Leleki was said to instill terror in the hearts of one's enemies. The former was a hundred and thirty-three gold. The latter only fifty three.}

Profectus sounds hesitant when he replies. {Well... if he's telling the truth, I'd say spring for the Shield of Aix. If he's mistaken, snatch the Shield of Leleki.}

>Ask to try out the shields.
>Point out the error, see if he corrects himself.
>Buy the Shield of Leleki, he probably made a mistake and you'll get it for a steal.

I gave a few thoughts about our plan to replicate magnification, both the microscopic and telescopic variety, with magic. The problem of course is that the eye is not able to discern things that are too far away of too small because the eye's angular resolution is limited. Mik with his limited knowledge of physics doesn't know this, SK might. But Mik knows that something is not visible to him because it is "too far away" or "too small". When he meditates on magic sight, he might find two possible solutions. I'll start with telescopic sight first:
A: Mik (a) sees a mountain in the distance, with something on it (b). That something is visible only as a small dot to him. Is it a bandit? A bag of gold? Al-Ghasreed patiently waiting for him? He needs to know.
B: Mik realizes that the mountain is "too far away" from his eyes. With his magic, he creates a "virtual eye" (c) that is much nearer to the mountain. He more or less simulates standing next to the mountain and looking at the mountain from closeby. This would be similar to a remotely controlled camera (e.g. a hacked webcam).
C: Mik realizes that the mountain is "too small" in his field of vision. With his magic, he bends the light reflected from the mountain in a curve so that it appears like a large virtual copy of the mountain (d) right next to him. He can then look at that picture. This is more or less like a huge zoom lens that refracts the light and magnifies it at the same time.

With the same principles, Mik can replicate microscopic sight:
D: Mik (a) sees something small (e). He wants to take a closer look at it, because it might be a ring with tiny runes that recover sanity.
E: Mik realizes that his eyes are too large. With his magic, he creates a "virtual eye" (c) that is right next to the tiny thing.
F: Mik realizes that the tiny thing is "too small" for him to look at. With his magic, he bends the light so that he can look at a magnified
virtual copy of the thing (f)

>>
In the end, you decide the risk isn't worth it. You'll just need to try out one of the shields to see what it does. You host a brief mental debate with yourself about whether to try the Shield of Aix or the Shield of Leleki. In the end, you decide on the Shield of Leleki. “Can I try out the Shield of Leleki? I have a theory I'd like to test.”

The man nods and reaches beneath the counter, drawing out the shield with the crane, or stork, or whatever it is on it. He passes it across the counter to you. It takes you a little bit to figure out how it straps onto your arm but eventually you figure it out and let your arm hang loosely at your side. It strains your shoulder, but not terribly. It's a heavy shield though. “Alright, throw something at me. Attack me. What have you.”

The old man seems hesitant, but does as you ask. A weak jet of flame ushers forth from one of his fingers. You raise your shield and angle it down so it's deflected away from you and instead is simply snuffed out before hitting the floor. You sigh. “No, I mean really atta-”

Your arm is practically jerked out of its socket as it spins you around to deflect the oncoming axe blade of the guard. There's a deafening clang as the edge of his weapon strikes the metal of the shield, bouncing off and throwing him off balance. You find yourself surging forward, driving your shield into his chest and knocking him flat. It's all you can do to prevent yourself from raising the shield up and bringing the edge down on his throat.

Well, that seems to prove your theory.

It's debatable how useful threats are as a tactic for haggling, because it stops being haggling at a certain point. Holding a gun against somebody's head and asking "will you sell me these 100 gold bars for $1?" would lower the price even better, but I wouldn't call it a haggling tactic.

You hold up a finger. “Now now, my friend. I believe the prices you originally stated were eight hundred for the Shield of Leleki and two thousand for the Shield of Aix. Were it not for my insistence upon testing your equipment, you would have never known anything was amiss. I think it only fair that you allow me to purchase at the original price, then you can simply overcharge the next customer who comes along. I doubt they'll have the same inquisitive mindset as I do.”

The merchant doesn't seem convinced. “I admit my mistakes, oh valued customer, but I think fifteen hundred is more than a fair price. Indeed I would have been none the wiser had you not illuminated my error, and it is due to this kindness that I thank you, but to leave the prices as they were... it seems silly.}

You smile. “Well consider this, I will be making several more purchases before the day is through. Whatever you lose on this shield, you can make back on another artifact I buy. Think of it as if I were buying in bulk, it's essentially what I intend to do.”

The merchant slowly shakes his head. “For eight hundred, I cannot part with it.” He pauses, eventually relenting. “However, I suppose a thousand silver would not be quite so grievous a recompense for my mistake.”

You unfold your cloak, you've had it hanging from your arm since you stepped out of the carriage, and reach inside to extract a bag of sixty six gold coins and ten silver coins, all of which is Profectus' money, of course. He pulls open the back and quickly counts the contents, nodding once he's finished. “Good, very good. What else did you need again?”
(1/2)
>>
>>37670801
Which one is the question? It wasn't the finalization which was the most important and the hardest to receive bonuses to otherwise you might have a point.
>>
“Gems and suits of armor, but first I'd like to see any other shields you might have in stock. Shields more suited for use with a spear, if you have any. I'm prefer spears if I'm forced to close into combat.”

The man nods, and retreats once more into the back room. The guard is too busy dusting himself off and catching his breath to notice you slip the shield into your cloak. No reason to cause a fuss, after all. Eventually the man returns with a stack of shields in his hands, which he sets down on the counter. Two of them are round shields, or well, oblong shields. The third is closer to a tower shield. All of them are painted and rather extensively decorated.

The old man clears his throat, speaking. “These are all shields recovered from the Pa'vala. Presumably used by our ancestors.” He spreads them out neatly on the counter, pointing first to one that you would think was Rhynian were it not for the Old Samjan written on its face. Incidentally, Old Samjan which reads 'I will sodomize you'. Interesting, you suppose. “This one was actually produced in Rhynian-occupied Azash, I think. It's more generally resistant to magic and its effects, and will allow you to better resist sustained magical attack.”

He points next to the long shield. It's got a curious cut away in one corner where you assume one would have a spear protruding, raised above the head you imagine. That's a form you're familiar with as it's preferred by line infantry, but not actually a form you've been taught. “This is the oldest of the three shields, produced well before Hiacia and Rhynia even came into contact with one another. It enhances the speed and flexibility of the wielder, allowing them to strike like the scorpion depicted on the face.”
(2/3)
>>
>>37670852
2 so far
>>
Finally he points to the last shield, the one with the spiked rim and scarab at the center. “This shield is a contemporary to the shield from the Rhynian occupation, I found them in the same old ruin so I assume they were wielded by two warriors of opposing sides. Fascinating, you know. To think that Samjan fought for the Rhynians... disgusting, is it not? Traitors to our magnificent people. Anyway, so far as I'm aware this shield will let out a powerful burst of fire and heat whenever bashed against someone, enveloping them in flame. Actually, let me revise that. You must strike it against something with some modicum of intelligence with significant force. Animals, they'll burn to a crisp. Plants, not so much.”

>You'll take the Traitor's Shield
>You'll take the Ancient Shield
>You'll take the Scarab Shield

Keep in mind that your cumulative bonus to water magics is now +12.
>+8 from being a Grandmaster
>+4 from Frosty (for most spells, not water manipulation itself though)

You actually got out pretty okay, in terms of Grandmastery. +4 was sort of middle of the road. The minimum was +0 and the max was +8. It was scaling, so if you had a +8 in one aspect you'd have no other bonuses. +6 you'd have +2. Et cetera. You'd only ever have 2 bonuses, but there would always be 3 available facets of Water Magic to have those bonuses in.

I'll admit some of this hot, steaming PLOT is in beta when it gets dumped on you. I just find it hilarious that you passed it up.

That said, I always intended Vys to be a hard to find, fairly esoteric, and largely unknown metamagic with relatively few applications. It's just that the reserved portion of one of the largest repositories of knowledge seemed like the sort of place which would house that sort of thing at the time. No different than if Mik waltzed into the Grand Library and dug around hard enough.

Anyway, is it still there? What sort of state is it in? Is it in a language Mikhael can read? Is the metamagic Vys actually useful for anything? Will you be able to simply buy it off the shelf? We'll have to find out next time you're in Anthus.

>>

Nah, I'll be serious for a moment. If y'all don't take ages to head over that way, I won't just retcon out out of existence. Even if I do something like "oh, it's out on loan" or "oh, a noble bought it", that scroll exist and it exist in Anthus, somewhere. >>

>>
>>37672169

>>
>>37672169
Nah, that's just because you haven't done any experiments. I'm pretty cagey with handing out vys for experiments because I kind of want them to be something y'all plan out. For instance.

>I think X effect will do THIS with Y effect and Z meta.
>Let's cast it and find out!
That's not really an experiment, that's just trying some new shit.

If you were to do something like...

>I think that by bending the light such that an image in the distance will appear far larger than it actually is will work well as a form of magnification
>Lets test it at various distances
>It works!
>Could we apply the same principle to amplifying the amount of light hitting an area?
>Fire laser!
I'd grant a vys point for some shit like that.
>>
>>37672188
>>37672189
Full Illusions and Invisibility. They weren't meta's or effects, just experimental properties properties of fire magic mirage. While we read that in a book, mirage itself never went further than the two lines it was and certainly didn't count as its own effect.

>>
>>37672201
Those are spells.

Like throwing a fireball or freezing something just a little more complex. Not a real experiment.
>>
>>37672198
But we never have time to do any of the things we've planned out. So it's a moot point.

>>30894808
Hypothetical Higher Efficiency Casting: After that it goes into a long explanation about why this is possible, reiterating many of the same things you learned for the Ranged effect. A vatis is tied to their vys reserves, even after those reserves have been turned into a spell and released. It puts forward an interesting hypothesis towards the end, that in theory this means a vatis should be able to recover some of the excess vys they expend in a spell by drawing it back into themselves. However, that's clearly a topic for another discussion.
>>
>>37672238
see>>37672198

Just cause i figure out my shit is green when i eat kale doens't mean it's an experiment. If i tried to get my shit to go full rainbow by way of food color to shit theory then yeah its an experiment.

>it works, neat!
>okay, so bending light with fire magic can distort images
>does that mean I can conceal myself by bending light around something?

>does this also mean I can bend light into illusions?
>two meditative tests later
>success!
>>
>>37672198

>>
>>37672278
All of that except invisibility was told to us in a book.

We knew we could do it.

and invisibility we did in a snap judgement reaction to hide our son.
>>
>>37672278
that stuff was from the ritual book of Surya
>>
>>37672291
Till you stop chasing him.
>>
>>37672314
Another method, called 'Mirage', strikes you as particularly interesting. It is labeled as a method reserved only for the most advanced of pupils. By manipulating the ambient heat, increasing it in some areas and decreasing it in others, one should be able to bend the light in such a way as to create an illusion. It is said that those who practice this art extensively are able to create almost realistic depictions of people, animals, and objects.

Only the illusions were.

>>37672307
We did what could only be called experimenting to get closer to true invisibility.
While I don't fully agree with that anon, mainly because we haven't actually perfected the method in great detail, the point does remain for that one.
>>

Pseudo-invisibility, as part of getting an Insight toward Fire Mastery. No, it didn't award any Vys, it was just an Illusion of what was behind the object put in front of it.
It was "experimenting" but not a full blown Experiment, which is the important distinction.

You pluck up the Ancient Shield, testing its weight. It's surprisingly light, for its size. You suppose it is a rather narrow shield, but that still doesn't explain how light it is. You try to bend it, and bash it against the merchant's counter top, but it seems sturdy enough. You slide your left arm through the straps and immediately you feel revitalized. More generally healthy. It's hard to explain. You run through a few simple stretches, finding that you can touch your toes for the first time in your life. You can twist more than a hundred and eighty degrees and lift your leg straight up, until it's past your shoulder. It's a little weird, being this limber.

You nod, sliding off the straps. “Alright, how much do you want for this shield?”

The merchant begin to speak, but is interrupted by a wet, hacking cough. When the fit subsides he clears his throat and finally speaks. “For you, my friend. Six hundred silver.”

Huh, that's cheap. Only forty gold. Not cheap enough, of course. There's no such thing as cheap enough. “Three hundred-” You channel vys to give your voice a lively, charismatic quality. “-come on, what's a few hundred dent in your profits? I mean, you probably get most of this stuff for free. You've said yourself, you retrieved this shield from the Pa'vala yourself! It cost you nothing save effort to acquire so everything you make is pure profit.”

He seems to consider what you've said for a time. “Well... I suppose that's true. Regardless of how 'pure' my profits are, I still have expenses. Not necessarily living expenses but things like taxes, new artifacts now that I'm too old to go out and find them myself, rare regents for my alchemical pursuits. I'm not a man without his hobbies. Four hundred, that's a fair deal.”
(1/2)
>>
File: Bronze Spear.jpg (185 KB, 800x589)

185 KB JPG
You reach into your cloak and extract twenty six gold and ten silver in a small bag. Well, it's not really small but smaller than the bag you gave him previously. You toss it on the counter and he swiftly counts it, ultimately nodding. “Quite the trick you've got there, always hand over exactly as much coin as needed. Armor, was it?”

“Spears as well, actually. If you have any. I mean, as long as I'm here I might as well.”

The man vanishes into the back room once more, curtain preventing you from catching a glimpse inside. He returns a few minutes later dragging along some sort of massive suit of armor. So far as you can tell it's constructed from the shells of Palaka worms, but reinforced in several places with metal plates. The carapace seems to have grown out, forming thin hairs all across the armor and a number of long spikes protruding from the back. You're not really sure what to make of it. Nor do you quite understand how one would put it on.

The merchant vanishes again before you can ask, but comes back only a moment later with a bronze trident. It has a leather wrapped handle, and looks to be about six feet long. Short, by your standards. Probably good for close quarters or hurling at someone from a distance. He sets it down on the counter, carefully, then speaks. “We'll start with the spear, since it's simple. I retrieved this from a ruin deep in the Elaudian Jungles. It was among the skeletal remains of some sort of great snake creature.”

“I've only tried it out once, so I can't profess to know all of its secrets. I believe that it damages a different aspect of someone depending on which prong you strike them with. The left prong damages the mind, the central prong the body, and the right prong the soul. Regardless, the person I stabbed it with was reduced to a gibbering wreck. I'm a little afraid of it, to be honest.”

(2/3)
>>
He slaps the armor where it's slumped against the counter. “As for the armor, I've never worn it but I've had assistants try it on. It has the usual you'd expect from armor like this. It amplifies the wearer's strength, makes them quicker. It also seems to integrate itself with the person wearing it. Stabs a bunch of tiny spikes all up and down their spine. Pumps them so full of vys they can't think straight. I think it's essentially a tougher version of Warlock Armor, not to be trifled with. Overuse can kill you, just like it can with Warlock Armor. Found it in an old temple up in the mountains dedicated to Surya.”

People are clearly thinking of killing her now but this armor is a great last resort armor.

brilliant!

supporting this

Sorry anon I didn't actually read those two lines above the choices before voting. We'll be able to correct it later.

Good night Soma and thanks for the run.
>>
>>37672785
She doesn't have to wear it now, you know, we could buy it and hold it off untill she's strong enough to handle the strain

Haha! We're tied. At least spear is unanimous.

Whatever, I'll deal with it later. Leave the vote open until 404 and count then.

>You're interested in the armor.
For us, we already see what normal warlock armour does to some one who knows how to use it(VarVar), this shit is a step above that.
>Write-in
Ask him if he knows any good blacksmiths/magicians that can work armours.
Also ask about the jungle, and desert since he said he went into both.
>>
>>37672722
>>You're interested in the spear.
>>You're interested in the armor.
I only want the spear for body, soul and mind runes.

Armor for us cause we can't even use the Warlock yet. That thing would melt chryss in minutes.

Plus we're gonna need a late game armor.
>>
>>37672827
This is way above her level. Only a grandmaster in multiple elements could handle this shit and even then
>>
>>37672846
>>37672722
I second everything in this post
>>
>>37672861
i think it's more about Vys pool.

50 for reliable Warlock use

100 for reliable Heavy Warlock use.

But we HAVE to try it on. if only for a sec.
>>
>>37672861
I believe it was more that someone with a low vys pool cannot handle it rather than a matter of how many elements they've mastered. Not that anon, just clarifying. It would definitely destroy her.
>>
>>37672722
>You're interested in the armor.
Only we could handle that berserker armor.
>>
>>37672722
Both for us.

Though i would not be against giving the spear to Darzi once we studied it, it doesn't really seem like our style.
>>
>>37672880
Let's try it 30~vys after we reach Acceptability for the Warlock Armor. Just to be safe.
>>
>>37672896
It's not her style either.
>>
>>37672698
>>37672722
>armor
do want

Looking forward to trying it on.

Spear's alright too.

Both for us, don't think we're dumb enough to give that shit to Chryss, it'd kill her.
>>
>>37672905
we already have 40 and we feel drained after constant use but it's not all that bad really.

I'm pretty sure we're nearing the point where contued wear won't harm us.

Which is why we should get our Vys pool to the point where it won't before we leave for the Pa'vala
>>
>>37672896
I disagree, a mind/soul destroying bastard lovechild between a trident and a corseque is exactly like our style.
>>
>>37672929
As I said before, 30-ish vys AFTER we reach Acceptability for the Warlock Armor. Just to be safe.
>>
>>37672930
i guess we can practice a bit with it.

I always thought we'd be better with a more Var Var esque spear.

It just hot knife through butters everything.
>>
>>37672949
This monster is shit that VarVar could only dream of.
>>
>>37672944
Oh I see, so 80 Vys if my guess about the warlock is right.

I still think we should try it on.

There's no way it could do serious harm in under a minute, and our Vys reserves are already below average.

But yeah no using until we have a strong Vys pool. Which means grinding those effects and metas.

Even the ones we won end up using. Though we could use pretty much every meta for something or another.
>>
>>37672980
This seems more utility.

It probably doesn't have as much penetrating power as a normal spear. Probably stopped quite easily by heavy armor.
>>
>>37673002
It was found in a Elaudian temple. I highly that utterly destroying someone is all it's capable of.
>>
>>37673033
I know, we'll still probalby use it as our main weapon now.

Only using our old spear for sparring and Maybe Enchanting?
>>
>>37673033
*highly doubt
>>
>>37673058
Yup, combat meditation, sparing with Prof ect ect.

Imagine an accident with the new spear, you get cut with this thing you're fucked.

We don't need magical spears man

We just need to learn the chain strike technique
>>
I love how the one time recently we went to grind we decided to do the absolute least productive option by reading the metal codex and getting nothing from it.

When we could have gotten Vatis in Metal.

Or learned an Meta/effect

Read a book we'd gain from reading at the time

Or a dozen other things.
>>
>>37673092
I wonder if by learning the Mind Rune from this spear we could create a

Repair + Mind enchantment?

If we can learn the Mind rune, then we can create Reinforce + Mind charms for our companions and our self.
>>
>>37673209
Not to mention studying our ring, we can reverse engineer it with a little work.
>>
>>37673238
I don't think dissecting our ring will be as easy as that.

Apparently there's hundred and hundreds of characters on the ring. manying it hard to understand which rune means what.

We may be able to find the runes on each tip and each "sentence" should be identical except for the base run (Mind/Soul/Body)

and by which trident it is on we can figure out which one is which.

This applies to the trident incase it's not obvious.
