A ghost Pokemon appears from behind her, startling you. It was somehow hiding in her shadow. Schchina lifts an eyebrow at you.

She pokes you hard in the shoulder with her cane. "Are you even blinder than your friend here? I'm visiting my husband! He has the manners to introduce himself before accosting an old lady at night!"

All of your friends are wary of her, but Vance looks the most freaked out. Clair's worry is mixed with a look of hero worship. She probably likes how Schechina is poking everyone and acting crotchety.

She begins having a hushed conversation with her Ghost Pokemon.

You aren't sure about this, but you have to ask. "Are... are you married to that Pokemon?"

She recoils. "What, are you crazy?"

You scratch the back of your head like Vance usually does. "I guess that was a dumb question."

"Damn right it was! Death did us part. I got out. I'm not doing that again!"

That's not what you meant. You decide to change the subject for a second. There's something else bothering you. "What you said before... does that mean I've lost my lifeforce or something?"

She sighs in frustration. "Yes! No! I don't know. Why would you even do something that could do that if you had no idea what the consequences are?" The Gengar whispers in her ear. "Oh fine!" She turns back to you. "Yes. But don't get your panties or whatever weird underwear you kids wear these days in a twist about it. Death comes for us all child. It's natural."

You feel a chill at those words. Your head spins.

Gengar gives her a stern look. "Oh alright! Nobody has a sense of humour these days." She again turns back to you. "You may have lost some time, but death is a damned incompetent idiot. You can wrangle it back if you know what you're doing."

Your friends all look ready to turn in as well. You see Jeanine trying to sneak into Vance's room without being spotted. Clair walks around you to her room.

You hug Robin from behind as Clair passes. "Oh, nice going to join us again?" You bite Robin's ear and feel her gasp.

Robin turns around and gives you a hug. "Tomorrow's another big day."

"Yeah, yeah it is." You look at her eyepatch. You can beat Emma and get her to do something about it. You just have to try.

You fill up on a hearty breakfast of exotic but delicious foods, and head outside. "Do you guys mind waiting a few minutes?"

Your friends shrug and go about doing small things to keep themselves occupied. You take out all of your Pokemon and play with them a bit. Nibbles and Devon catch toys, you play patti-cake with Trunks, Dan does a little little trick where he makes your hair stand up tall, and Destiny rolls up and down Levi as Levi keeps changing the curve of her body to steer her around.

"Thanks guys," you say as you retrieve your Pokemon back after a short while. "It's important to unwind once in awhile."

Are you guys not aware what Nibbles type is? Rock/Dragon has no resistances or advantages over Ghost. With Bite/Crunch he could do pretty good anyways though.

You enter into the dimly lit gym. The floor has small strips of LED lights to guide you. Your friends head up to the observation area while you go to the challenger's spot.

You can barely make out the field. A referee sits in the dark on the side reading a book by flashlight. "Hello?" Your voice echoes.

He stumbles and turns off the light. Schechina answers back from across the darkness. "Welcome, Kat. I told you you wouldn't see me."

So that's her gimmick! Her Pokemon probably know the layout of the gym by heart. You bet ghosts are just more comfortable with the lack of light too.

Damn. Vlad would be good to have here!

Unlike most gyms, the gym leader or the challenger may choose to change the match from a single battle to a double battle at any time by adding another Pokemon to the field. You do not need to announce you intent. Once the match is turned into a double battle, it may not go back to being a single battle. Only the challenger may switch out Pokemon."

She throws out a Pokeball. "Golurk! Let's teach these young punks a lesson!" There's a brief explosion of light as her first Pokemon appears. You see the outline and that thing looks tough! You search your mind for what it is. That's right! Ghost and Ground!

You strike a pose that nobody is able to see and reach for a Pokeball.

Golurk is slow as shit and has mediocre defences, poor guy has nothing going for him except and attack stat usually reserved for gimmick pokes, and no real good moves to use it.

Maybe. I've posted before as being in favor of Pokemon being able to go a little beyond the game mechanics and for their other abilities to be something that's possible to retrain. You can retrain abilities in the games now using the Ability Capsule too.

Learning an ability that doesn't belong to that Pokemon is stretching it a bit. I could see it happening, but I think it's one of those things that would take an incredible amount of effort and maybe a special event/circumstance.
