Max is back to his private chambers, where he's been writing on his notebook for the last hour.

After being shown of two different shocking images, he just needed to get something off of his mind from the prophecy and the Poly.
And, since Liches can't sleep, which Max figured after noticing there's no bed in his room and that he can't feel tired, this is what he's been doing to pass the time.

'Honestly, it should have been a day already.'

Another thing Max noted was that the time of day was completely different.

Even after, enough time passed what should have been more than a day, the suns were still up.

Suns.

Yes, by looking up in the sky, there are 2 suns which seem to be next to each other.
One of them, though, was drastically much bigger than the other.

'Seriously, what is the time-incriment in this world?'

As of now, Max has just been guess-timating of how many hours passed. But, there were no clocks in this kingdom, so he's not so sure.

'Do monsters even have the concept of measurement of time?'

He considered putting a measurement system if needed. Also, language is important too.

'Well, I can't sleep or anything. What should I do for now then?'

The outside seems incredibly pleasant to Max.

He has been cooped up inside this castle and only have been outside
for the Kappa.

'Right, I just need to take a walk.'

As soon as Max left his room, however, a monster was waiting for him outside.

A rotting corpse, with blue skin, was remaining still next to the door.

The Zimbil of Blue.

"Uhm, Zimbil? What are you doing here?"

"..."

"..."

The zombie remained silent.

Thinking on why the monster wasn't responding, Max thought of the possiblity that it can only communicate through thought.

'Strange, I thought all Pillars can speak. Oh well.'

>'Zimbil of Blue, why do you stand next to my door.'

Finally, Max got an answer.

>'Left meeting. Blue not smart. No use meeting. Stay with Overlord'

Max had to think for a while what the poor phrases meant.

'Basically, he's just not smart enough to actually be of use in those jobs.'

The Overlord stared at the zombie and considered the worth of a Zimbil.
What use was a monster that can't even think for itself?
However, it could join him in the adventure outside. There could be countless of dangers, and currently, Max was powerless.

His new skill, Repel 90% of Dark Mana, even included his OWN dark mana.
The Lich could feel his mind-magic weakening. The only positive news was that, his loss of magic didn't bother the communication between monsters.
After finding out that there were plenty of other Liches, Max now knew the others can be used as "proxy-servers" for him.

The Zimbil didn't respond back, but he did lower his head, which Max infered to mean yes.

Walking to the front gate was now the Overlord and his rotting companion, Zimbil of Blue.

There was only silence in the walk.

Not only did the Zimbil not speak much, but also Max noticed that there no guards or servents inside the castle.
There were monsters roaming inside, but they were mostly all small, dumb-looking kind of monsters.

'Is this castle really only meant to be used for the Overlord and the Pillars?'

Max thought what was the point of having a castle to only be used for a small amount.
After not finding a reasonable conclusion, the Lich decided to ask the Zimbil.

>'Do you happen to know why only me and the Pillars use this castle?'

>'No.'

There was one big difference between the Zimbil and other monsters.
It didn't always end with "Yes, Overlord" or "of course, Master".
But, Max knew it wasn't because of dissrespect. It was just because of it's lack of intelligence.

'Really, how dumb can it be?'

The pair finally reached outside.

In front of them were multiple of paths (big monster's footsteps) to take.

Max, followed by Zimbil of Blue, began his walk forward.

As he was walking, Max noticed when the paths was used very often, there seems to no buildings, events, or anything up ahead.
In fact, the castle seem to be only building in this entire land.

The Lich still walked forward.

Again, the two were silent.

The Overlord was a little fazed by the reply. He had a pretty good idea what kind of food that Zimbil ate and that it wasn't a vegetarian.

Continuing the conversation, Max asked a different question.

>'Portal.'

>'A portal? To where?'

>'Humans.'

Max stopped for abruptly and then looked at the Zimbil.

'A portal to the humans?'

Curisoty overcoming him very quickly, he decided to rush over.

Shortly, the Overlord saw it.

A blue, wide hole on the ground.

Max stared at the portal.
He wanted nothing more than to just jump in and finally meet something that's not a monster.
But first, he needed to ensure his safety.

Sending his thoughts, he called for minions.

>'Poly, can you come over to the portal to humans.'

Immediately, Max dropped down to the ground. His body felt like all types of energy was just sapped out of him.

The symptoms were similar when if one would take a brutal exercise, that completely tired out the body, but without the pain of lactic acids.

Sending a thought has never been so hard, before. It would make him lose energy, but not to the point where he'll be empty.


It was bizarre, but Max already knew what was the cause of it.

"Fucking...Prophecy Shard and its effect."

Max waited about 45 minutes to rest to call in another minion and then repeated the cycle. The monsters slowly came in, one by one.

Finally, after a long wait. all of monsters were here.

The only way to explain going through a portal was that it just makes one nauseous.

Even the piles of bones that is Max feels a little dizzy.

However, he didn't mind that right now.

What currently captivate him was the scenery before him.

'T-This is so grand.'

Unlike the dark and lifeless environment of Asleit, the area surrounding the monsters was filled with green and freshness.

He even saw a big town out in the distance.

The soft, gentle wind blowing through his eye sockets, Max was blown away from what he was seeing.

But, that quickly faded away.

The emotion of appreciating nature fleeted too fast, and Max went right to thinking about his objective.

However, Max did catch on that his sense of enjoying beauty left a lot more sudden than it should.

'Strange, is it because I'm a Lich that I don't appreciate life like this?'

It was another mystery for him to think about.

He turned to his monster. And unlike him a few seconds ago, the group doesn't appear to mind the sudden change of opposing scenes.

But, he found nothing.

No blue portal.

No hole.

No sign of anything.

The Overlord ordered his minions to begin searching, but the Poly explained it to him.

"The portal send monsters in a random location all the time. The only way to return to Asleit is through a Recall spell." said in a human voice. The Poly already changed into the same human back in the magic room, with white hair and eyes.

Max started to freak out, seeing how he didn't know this recall spell.

Poly seemed to catch on his fear and added,"I can change into a monster with the capability to use a Recall spell."

Max thinks on his two options now.

He could go back or stay for a while just to get more information on humans.

'It would be safer if we go back and if I learn how to use Recall. I mean, what if Poly dies or something?'

Yet, Max just couldn't make himself believe that Poly could be defeated by anything, really.

So, he set out to do what he came here to do.

To go learn about humans.

"Poly, set up illusion magic, then I want you to go scout the place for anything. WinLix, I want you to go up in the sky and always be a top of us.
The rest of us, we're going to go straight for that town over there!"

The Poly begins to turn into something that looks like Myu of Yellow and start chanting, as the party of monsters began their march for espionage.

'Right now, we're only here to spy on them, but what do I even do with this information? Am I really going to lead an army to win against this war? What happens when we get caught? What do I do then?'

Two conflicting sides now fight over Max's mind.

His Overlord position against his humanity.

It's a little early to say it's betrayal or not, but I doubt it. He can use a little mind magic, but only a real lich can be overlord. Also with half powers the other five pillars can take him down.
I'm pretty sure however we'll have some surprise when we return,
So better keep Dark Fear in reserve till home
