Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/37909508/
Our Current Stats: http://pastebin.com/iahm4JSj (Please have a look at them, but don't feel obligated to read it all in one sitting- use it as a guideline if you're drawing a blank or need some contextual information as I've essentially compiled every piece of information that's relevant to our civilization.)
Our Current Bestiary: http://pastebin.com/TWY0QfWA (Please have a look, but don't feel obligated to read it in one sitting- it's VERY extensive and currently in "alpha" since I'd like to make an illustrated pdf.)

Last time Mycea died in order to enact her plan, we investigated and begun to document the distinct schools of magic and cultural characteristics of the growing occultism, and new inventions and innovations; bells, floating carts, and all manner of goodies!

>+Long Term Trends have been updated in the stats as per usual; go have a look at them. Short term trends (specific to this session) will continue to be posted here.

>-Ecological/Environmental Development: Mycea begins to rot.
>Mycea's body has begun the initial stages to be attributed, broken down, and returned to the land and as a result: The warm, golden, luminescent, fluid known as mana is starting to pour and bleed directly from her entirety and is channeling out into the water ways and surrounding area. It does not appear to have any visible effect on the land, but animals seem to find it just as delicious as you do and it's done wonders for the health of the local fresh water fish population.

(2nd post incoming, please be patient.)
>>
>+Environmental Development: Green Tide
>The Ocean closer to the shores and areas of your islands have slowly started to turn a much healthier and brighter shade of "green" and the deep, empty, shade of blue they once were is beginning to wane. The Reefs within the area are growing larger and expressing richer and more vivid colours. The water seem to overflow with marine life: Plesiosaurs and Seals cover the beaches in unforeseen numbers, fish and shellfish displays such abundance and size that they breach the tide, and flocks of sea birds and pterodactyls seem to be more common than clouds these days- attracted and swarming these large "growths" that wash upon shore- their identities smothered by being covered in the rampant growth of Shellfish, Kelp, and Corals.

>-Mycea's absense is missed. The Keeper of the grove: Kush, goes on a rampage.
Kush was a Keeper of the Grove: an animal blessed by Mycea for their maturity and honor and assigned great power and isolated among their kind to tend to the land. Kush can no longer sense Mycea's presence. Kush is still just a simple Triceratops. Kush's sad bleats of loneliness and confusion echo across the grove; "Why have you abandoned me, my lord? Why?" Kush does not understand, he is an animal. Sadness turns to confusion and confusion fuels frustration and anger. Kush is using his great physical force and innate magical ability to rampage across the land in an effort to receive any kind of acknowledgement from his absent god.

>-Personal development: Akalade shuts himself in.
>Akalade has taken a complete and total heel-turn and despite his fear and paranoia; has isolated himself from everyone and is now hiding within is home and refuses to acknowledge anyone. The people who bring him food and drink notice he's started wearing his suit even within his home and feverishly distracts himself with work. Someone is obviously wrong, but Akalade refuses to tell anyone- or even be seen for that matter.

(Okay, you may roll)

Ok a lot going on here. First things first, let us send out sages and heroes to help calm Kush down. We should bring dinosaur tribe gorgons as well if possible.

Maybe we can sing songs to communicate how Mycea has chosen to leave, but can return one day in time.

>>38068289
So should we set up an opposition to demonology?
I mean we're pretty okay with all occult studies as long as they're safe, but Mycea seemed to suggest Demonology is the one that should not be tolerated.

And my question is wether to do this now or later. and wether its an Idea or an Action.
>>
Rolled 7 (1d20)

>>38068289
Send heroes and diplomats to the manticore and dinosaur tribes. The manticore are probably deep in mourning at the moment- they loved Mycea as much if not more so then us.

We should talk to them about uniting, to act as a counter balance against the gorgon empire. Remind the manticores how Mycea always acted with love and unconditional acceptance to persuade them to stop raiding and other aggressive acts.

Phrase instead that they can still exercise their fearsome mastery of poisons, silent moving, and assassination by working as guides and protecting travelers rather then waylaying them.

Extend to the dinosaurs our economic aid, and convince them that any long standing feuds the two tribes have can be patched up. They will be able to accomplish great things together- the manticores mastery of herbal remedies could be combined with the dinosaurs knowledge of animals in a hundred different ways.

>cyclopean diplomats feel a little bit miffed that the Spider tribe has abandonded their pact of friendship with the dinosaurs that we helped broker

I think it's an idea. I'm going to post some current things we have been working on.

>Help Akelade adjust after the death of his husband. Protect him.

>Unite the gorgon tribes to act as a counterweight to the Empire

>convince the Mother Hydra to be less dickish

>continue to press influence out into the plains, establish more contact with its inhabitants (changelings, ant men and other unknowns)

>re-establishing contact with mermen. Find out what impact Mycea's actions have had

>try to find some way to resurrect or at least speed the recovery of Mycea

"Hey I know we just killed your god, but maybe we can be friends now."

I dunno i think we should hold off for a little bit. I mean before Mycea's plan the merfolk were gathering metal for an unknown purpose. Stuck me as some antagonistic actions.

Maybe we should give them some time, so they can splinter like the Gorgon empire did.

Remember those different movements from last thread? Let's apply them.

Theologists are free to do their thing, so long as they're careful. They should remember the sages that studied the universe and returned blind, wrote a tome, then fell into a comma for the rest of their lives.

Necromancers apply their knowledge to the fields of medicine, agriculture, investigation, and help the dead find rest and the living closure.

Eldritch study forms Occult Police and Exorcists, dealing with monsters, magic, the supernatural, ect.. Their first task is to find out what those necromancers are doing exactly. We can talk to those guys right after.

I was just trying to talk about the whole. "Should we talk to the merfolk thing". not trying to roll for anything. But its a good roll might as well use it to support something.

Or >>38068807

Or maybe what you said, contacting the merfolk somehow, or checking up on them.
>>
>>38068858

>>
So I was thinking of one thing we could for those who rever/respect/love Mycea. Since we know she may come back, they could gather round the stone circle on some nights, the one we created to bring her peace while she was healing, and sing songs in it's tune to the stars as a way to let her know she's missed, possibly to update her on big developments for our people, and just to sooth her spirit while she's resting. Possibly as part of a larger holiday/day of mourning.

>Attempt to Calm down Kush; with the assistance of the Dinosaur Tribe if possible.
>Roll ! 14+14 Twin rolls !
>Kush counter Roll 11
>Success, met with resistance.

Kush is a proud animal: He has outlived many other beasts through the course of generations, he has stood back and watched with unbiased eyes as he's respected the course of nature- watching the sick, weak, and young to be culled, eaten, and left to die- often by the jaws of the Therasaur as it proudly roars over it's kill. This is life. This was his life; his only equals the shivering and waning of fungal trees and tropical palms in the breeze.. and at one point in time; the love and guidance his god Mycea brought him.

Kush is not happy, "What cruel irony is this? I am not fit for this world- why did you make me this way? Why did you bless me with the knowledge of life and death; only to abandon me? You who were supposed to be Eternal? You who were my strength, my moral compass- WHAT SICK JOKE IS THIS?! I DID NOT ASK TO BE ANOINTED."

(Dinosaur Tribe roll and results incoming.))
>>

damn...poor Kush..
>>
>>38069062

>>
maybe in the next round of rolling we should chart out the path of the changling nomads. Establish more "Constant" trade and contact.
>>
So what should we do with Mycea's rotting stalk? I think it'd honor her nature if we simply collected it and used it as fertilizer. She was the demi-god of decay and renewal, after all. Although there might be some greater use for it.
>>
>>38069316
Could quite easily absorb him into our civ as a part of our mycea worship, and explain what happened.

>>38069383
Hold a massive competition to grow the biggest plant using it as fertalizer? Or we could study it.
>>
>>38069383
Isn't it already decaying into mana? Could the mana be used as fertilizer? Maybe we can use it to spread her presence out into the savannah. Using mana to cultivate the arid waste.
>>
>>38069413
The mana seems to be more a benefit to animal life. It was said it doesn't seem to have a visible effect on the land.

>Seconding this roll. But expanding it.

>We need to formalize the Necromancers into the Order of Mycea, have them take over overseeing the fungal forest and the city she ruled over once.

>Other shit we should be doing
1) We need to move our primary population center into Mycea, turn it into a proper bread basket for us.

2) See about fully incorporating the Manticore tribe into our own. We could use their military expertise.

3) Form the Druids into an order specifically to defend against elder god elderitch knowledge.

4) Begin construction of theological observatories in the mountains.

5) Give Fucking Elf boy there the damn seed from Mycea and let him go save his fucking planet.

6) begin forming a coalition between the various races.

7) Up trade with changlings to get an economic boom to make a new temple housing in the center of Mycea, our new wonder.
>>
Rolled 61 (1d100)

>>
>>38069532
I don't know about moving the population all the way to Mycea. It's in the gorgon tribe/empire region of the world, and the home islands already have a wonder city in the arcanum

Akelade needs love and understanding. We have to reach him some way or another, to help him. I think he might be tormented by visions of the Deep One
>>
>>38068854
Not so fast. We still need to deal with demonology. It needs to be stopped. It was the last thing Mycea warned us about.
>>
>>38069062

>Dinosaur Tribe Counter Roll 20
>Complete unquestionable success.

The Cyclopean Citizens and Sage Council of Mycea's Grove are extremely concerned about the well being and fate of Kush; he is to an -extent- part of the legacy of Mycea and his problems are Mycea's problems and therefor your problems.

You don't however get a chance to directly solve the problem as it seems the Dinosaur Tribe has beat you to the chase: An entire procession of Dinosaur Tribe shamans, druids, and holy women had immediately made a pilgrimage to attend to the presence and problem of "kush". They are a cert, honest, and quiet people whom speak through deeds; they make no great entrance and the only way you're made of aware of their coming is the soft chorus of their drums and bells.

They are lead by a massive Gorgon. She is a giant among their kind and towers over them- even taller than some of your own cyclopean people. Her massive frame is supported by lean and taunt muscle, her hair is kept tied and short- along with her snakes, but her most defining trait is the indiscreet air of spirituality that she seems to exume and the large, hanging, black horns that grow from the sides of her heads like the rack on the Dinosaurs her tribe honors.

The Gorgon and Kush briefly exchange glances before they wrestle with one another; their match lasts hours and it ends with the Gorgon grappling kush and laying him down onto his side 'till he is submissive.
Kush is then fed fruits, supple vegetation, meaty fungi, and treated to a small saucer of mana.
His divinity seems to slowly wane: the power he exhumed is relinquished, the awareness and intelligence present in his eyes fades, and his last moments are spent nuzzled in the lap of that Giant Gorgon- being petted, happily bleating, before the strength fades from him and his mortality catches up with him to join his master.
(Happy Triceratop bleats fro reference: youtube.com/watch?v=LNCC6ZYI3SI )
>>
>>38069532
1) No? having the population spread out as is, works fine.
2) Agree, but we would have to turn them more peaceful, our cultures conflict in key areas
3) Might want to expand shamanistic practices for this, druids are more natural world than spiritual, even if it overlaps
4) good idea.
5) i doubt he will open up any time soon
6) kind of already happened for us were it matters, no real need to formalize it until a threat appears
7) Upping trade would do better if we build an outpost on the edge of the savanna to help, or hell, actually invent shoes so roads are easier to travel than soft earth.
>>
>>38069648
Agreed we need to nip that in the bud.

>>38069639
I'm saying moving OURSELVES mostly into it. Mycea was given to US and only Cyclops were allowed permanent residence. We need to cement that control left to us. Invite the Manticores in as full citizens of our empire if they're willing to give up all the rapine and pillaging, we really do need a strong military in case the merpeople come for us.

I'm not saying abandon the Arcanum, I'm saying make Mycea our second big city. It's also more central to our empire.
>>
>>38069677
>7) Upping trade would do better if we build an outpost on the edge of the savanna to help, or hell, actually invent shoes so roads are easier to travel than soft earth.
I like this. We should invent roads and shoes.
>>
>>38069742
Already done.
>>
>>38069532
1) I disagree.
2) I doubt we could support it and there would be massive culture shock.
3) Elder god knowledge wasn't the particularly dangerous one. Demonology is.
4) Sure, but why the mountains?
5) There'd be no point. He has no pod anymore.
>>
>>38069764
>4) Sure, but why the mountains?
Mountain observatories get clearer images of the skies.

>5) There'd be no point. He has no pod anymore.
Thought it was used as a basis for the attack and now we can have it back?

Even if we don't make Mycea THE major population center for ourselves. I still think moving lots of people there to be second only to the Arcanum would be a fantastic idea, since it could produce enough food to allow our population to explode and give us a major economic boom.
>>
>>38069676
Mad respect for that. We couldn't have done that better ourselves
>>
>>38069698
It's already a big city though. And with how much the cyclopeans love Mycea, it's only going to get bigger.
>>
>>38069532
>1

Not super sure about this. I mean, we should definitely develop that area, but we seem to have a lot invested on our starting island and "First" colony. We have the arcanum built there. and we've also got the bone bridge tying them together.

>2)

Now this I'd be quite a fan of. We aren't naturally violent or suspicious but I do predict we may need some military prowess some time in the future, and the Manticores have that in spades. If incorporating them will make us more formidable, maybe we can rub off on them, perhaps culling some of their less palatable tenancies.

>3)

Druids are Eldritch Cultists by nature though, so it strikes me as training "firemen" by giving them a bunch of matches and telling them to burn things to better understand how fire burns things. It may need some "protector" or monster hunter/exorcist caste as well, just to keep things in check.

>4)

Not opposed to this. Like at all. Hell might be an idea to have outposts in the mountains proper especially as we head out into the savannas more.

>5)

We owe him this much anyways. But poor guy has no way to get back any more since we used the ship to murder the Deep Eye.

>6)

Again, a big No brainer. But I don't know if we have the respect quite yet.

>7)

Frankly we should see if we can bring the changlings our way. They're nomadic, and seemed to have mostly dwelled in the desert, wonder how they'd feel about seeing us all settled down? Imagine what it be like for them to taste some of the sedentary lifestyle.
>>
>>38069764
Depending on what they're actually doing, we could re-purpose demonology to study and defend against the 'Red World'.
>>
>>38069824
Dinosaur tribe is pretty bro.

We need to keep their culture distinct from the Empire's.
>>
>>38069868
it's too bad they and the spider tribe didn't grow closer together, considering how we pushed them together.

now who will buy our fancy moths?
>>
>>38069811
There is literally no point moving folks there. we are the only people who live there, and it will develop in population as time goes on anyway. We can restrict others moving in by citing the law of mycea/holy site, for living there anyway. Visiting is fine.
>>
>>38069901
Maybe we should invest in Dinosaur and Manticore cultures?

Pay for their services and encourage them to keep doing what they're doing?
>>
>>38069852
>Now this I'd be quite a fan of. We aren't naturally violent or suspicious but I do predict we may need some military prowess some time in the future, and the Manticores have that in spades. The Manticores ALREADY like us a lot. I think they'd be open to the idea of switching from being hated by everyone to having lots of fun and sexy times and permission to beat the crap out of people and things that threaten us?

>Druids are Eldritch Cultists by nature though, so it strikes me as training "firemen" by giving them a bunch of matches and telling them to burn things to better understand how fire burns things. It may need some "protector" or monster hunter/exorcist caste as well, just to keep things in check.
Firemen are trained in how to start fires as well as end them since it's important to know how fire works.

And if we don't move people there, can we atleast spend an action focusing on everyone there making babies and turning it into a massive as fuck bread basket for our people?
>>
>>38069864
Without her guidance, I'd rather we just didn't tamper with it. She wouldn't have told us to leave it alone if there weren't a good reason.
>>
>>38069951
It'd also swell our gorgon population hugely. Something the Hydra Mother might take advantage of at some point.
>>
>>38069967
Agreed

We need to bring the red planet cultists to us, tell them her words on the subject, ask them to justify themselves, then work to convince them this is not the way to help people.
>>
>>38070007
we could say we focus on breeding cyclops primarily?

Besides, from what I've read. The Hydra Mother is a tsunderebro.
>>
>>38069967
>>38070009
Really we need to develop arcane to a degree that it can contain and protect against demonology if shit should go awry, well before even starting its research.
>>
Guys do we have mudbrick/adobe construction yet? I think that might be crazy useful in the Savannah since we don't quite have as much large slabs of rocks to use, or jungles to take cover in. Building from mud bricks and dirt/water might be our way of getting deeper into that uncharted territory.
>>
>>38070041
Unenforcable and sort of counter to the whole 'free love' culture of the Cyclops.
>>
>>38070077
We're past mudbrick. We build a giant ziggerat city.
>>
>>38070077
We can just use magic to pull homes out of the earth really. And I think we've long had the tech for mudbrick anyway.
>>
>>38070079
true. But really, our halfbreed gorgon population seems primarily loyal to us rather than to the hydramother, so I don't see the issue.

Also, we need to give the sun some respect. Get his guidance on these things.
>>
>>38070077
I think we have mudbrick, not sure if it translates into adobe
>>
With the manticores:
Exert influence to turn their culture into more a sports like affair, and then encourage them to teach it and develop it. A la, Ninja gorgon village.
>>
We're already allied with the Manticores. I don't see a reason to go through the effort of trying to incorporate them.
>>
>>38070096
>>38070122
>>38070143
True, but we really need to focus that into a more "utilitarian" way if we want to expand into the sunbaked savanna. And yeah Mudbrick doesn't exactly translate into adobe (to my knowledge).

I'd like to see us build up like in that first image, pulling homes from the ground. Maybe even temples like this.
>>
>>38070226
Because the empire and the dinosaurs hunt and kill them, we incorp, we can have a mutually beneficial relationship without a threat to them disappearing. Having sneaky friends is invaluable.
>>
>>38070225
>>38070226
They're not allies, they're friends, and we NEED a strong military incorporated into ourselves to defend against the Merpeople.

We're on much better terms with them than just about anybody else except maybe the Empire, so if we want to preserve and protect them, we need to incorporate.
>>
>>38070261
>>38070226

Plus their knowledge of herbology and necromancy

We just need to help change them from raiders to something more peaceful
>>
>>38070226
well the thing is Manticores have some stuff in their culture that is just straight up iffy if left unchecked. They're approach to leadership ascendancy is "You Kill It, You Keep It". They've got a bit of violence and death fetishism, in their veins, despite it being rooted in some cyclopean philosophical truth (they view death as part of a natural cycle and revere the moon and stars, but as such in their perception unnatural death, like by murder, is okay too.)

>Alleviate and better understand the political situation with the remaining Gorgon Nations through diplomacy.
>Twin Rolls 7+7
>LUCKY DOUBLE 7'S
>Not success, but not necessarily failure either: Interesting results.

The political situation between the three remaining Gorgon nations/Cultures seems to have become quite heated and tension is slowly rising between the various communities. From what your people understand in their position of an unbiased third party, the following conditions and motivations have been made aware:

>The Manticore Tribe: A new age of brutality.
>"God has blossomed; her voice is silenced and with this she reminds us that death is eternal and inescapable. Just how the Spores of God rain down and cover the land, as our tears once did for the mourning of her absence- we must stand strong; let blood begat more blood, let the art of killing, treachery, and mayhem shine and define give purpose to our lives. The Hydra mother is a false god. She encapsulate mortality." The Manticore tribe has gone into nomadic seclusion; they number in the thousands, but they remain unseen and only come out to trade with your kind or to commit raids against the Gorgon empire. You still remain "friends".

>The Dinosaur Tribe: A new leader brings forth a myriad of progress & aggressive change.
>The Dinosaur tribe doesn't seem to emulate the same herding culture they once were hundreds of years ago: their entire culture now expresses a feeling of military and economic strength as they've begun to be led by a mysterious new chieftain who remains unidentified. They've started purchasing large quantities of Iron from your Civilization (to the point where they've become quite a lucrative trading partner); while building small forts and tending nomadic war camps that seem to be sprouting up. Your relationship with them has grown significantly: trade and contact is lucrative and booming, but they're definitely plotting something.
>>
>>38070283
We have no real allies, the concept, quite like war, has not come up.

Im all for shifting their culture towards a more.. ninja style thing, and incorporating them into our collective. Since it protects them and us.
>>
>>38070283

Just how the Spores of God rain down and cover the land, as our tears once did for the mourning of her absence- we must stand strong; let blood begat more blood, let the art of killing, treachery, and mayhem shine and define give purpose to our lives. The Hydra mother is a false god. She encapsulate mortality." The Manticore tribe has gone into nomadic seclusion; they number in the thousands, but they remain unseen and only come out to trade with your kind or to commit raids against the Gorgon empire. You still remain "friends".
We begin to go out to them, try to convert them to a more peaceful path. We need strong defenders for our people, people to teach us how to fight and defend ourselves. They do not have to worship any god they choose not to, but why bring about death when love and good times are so much better? They can follow their creeds in a more peaceful manner with us.

We need to support the Dinosaur tribe over all others.

We cannot let the Gorgon Empire absorb the dinosaur tribe.

But should it break out, we avoid taking a side. Go all America on this thing. Wait on the sidelines until it either
>Seems like someone who doesn't have our best interests at heart starts to get the upper hand.
or
>Until we are personally attacked in some way.

A war amongst the gorgons might allow for some change to take place. The Gorgon empire might lose more power, The Hydra Mother could come to depend on us again. The tribes might consolodate their power or ally themselves to eachother (in some form).
>>
>>38070610
Yep. Eventually. One step at a time. First the Manticores and the Demonologists. Then demons themselves.
>>
>>38070594
Maybe, but I don't agree that should be done by just offering them a place in our civ. They're less like us now than they've ever been.
>>
>>38070633
Maybe we should consider researching holy magic and spells that purify.
>>
Can we do some exploration? Where could we go?
>>
>>38070610
I'd rather act on the only information wexhave on them right now and that is that even if their hearts are in the right place, this is something we should turn away from.
>>
>>38070569
We can do both. I'm still rooting for a solution where everyone is friends.

The gorgon tribes and empire pretty much owe us big time

We helped them out when the elves disappeared- we practically were propping up what was left of the old empire. If it wasn't for us the hydra mother would have no one to rule, and would be hundreds of years away from a proper incarnation, if anyone remembered her at all that is

We saved Mycea, we helped revitalized her and supported her while the Manticores were still busy stabbing each other in the backs.

We've been strong trading partners with the dinosaurs and remain committed to preserving their independence

in short- A DEBT IS OWED AND WE HAVE COME TO COLLECT

>Study the Origins of Monsters: Solve the problem, not the symptoms.
>Roll 13/100
>Comp- 13. ROLLED A 13 ON SPIRIT.
>+Unusual Failure.

Monsters are something of a common occurrence within your society; common enough that one of the obligations of the Sage's council is to deal with the presence of Monsters, either through appeasement or destruction if need be. The problem though is that no one really knows where monsters "come from": Monsters definitely have some sort of connotation or association with culture as monsters seem to be restricted to societies/cultures, with each sufficiently advanced culture somehow "producing" their own.. but their origins remain obscured.

>- Spritiual development: Monsters now present on mainland communities-
>This includes your city on the "tip" as well as Mycea's grove.

>-New Monster: Echoe of Mycea
>This spirit takes the transparent and vague appearence of Mycea's humanoid form. The spirits personal features seem to change from person to person, but they all recognize the being as "Mycea". Typically slowly walking in from the jungle's morning mist, their ethereal forms often draped in a gown of fungal growth; they almost always materialize before the elderly or farmers -causing predictable emotional responses-. Echoes are afraid of fire and exclusive to rural areas within Mycea's grove. There's rumors they kidnap people.

We can talk to those guys right after.

>but, they say with a hint of sadness, we also can't help but notice how out of all the joy of creation and trade there is beginning to become an undercurrent of hate, of fear and servitude.
>The cyclops remind them how they were once ground under the heel of elven colonialism, and how the cyclops did everything in their power to break them free, and to support them in the years that followed
>Now, to see them restart these ideas makes the cyclops so DISAPPOINTED
>It hurts them to see their friends bicker and squabble, and even more so to see them pursue this course when so many better, brighter options are offered, of how it hurts them to hear that the memory of their dear friend Mycea is being used to support strife and mayhem.
>The cyclops then go on to point out that it would be terrible, simply terrible, to have to watch all the progress made be lost in death and war
>but if the gorgons pursue this course they cannot stop them. They will wait however long it takes- thousands of years if necessary
>And they will pick up the pieces and rebuild the gorgon civilization and perhaps, next time they will be more wise and remember the words of their friends

>Formalize and accept the trending schools of magical study from occultism
>Roll 50/100 met with overwhelming census.
>Minimum Success +Racial Bonus, +Cultural Bonus.

Occultism has "slowly" been nipped in the bud through more progressive social efforts: Necromancy, Theology, and Elderitch study are all seeing slow, steady, and "safe" acceptance as well as practice in good and wholesome society. The acceptence and translation of these occultist studies to more formal teachings within the halls and councils of the arcanum have lead to numerous and wide reaching benefits within society:

>+Medicial practices dramatically increased+
>Necromancy is the other half of healing magic and covers many of the problems of using "pure" healing magic to treat problems. Necromancy for example is iconic for it's ability to better assist dentistry; healing magic can cause extremely painful results as teeth are "grown" back; forcing adult teeth to be forced out, become impacted or crooked- it like wise can also grows back "tusks". Necromancy brings "sophistication" to many magical medical practices.

>+Agricultural and Environmental conditions dramatically improved+
>Both Necromancy and proper Elderitch druidic practices provide an awareness of proper crop-rotation methods concerning the complex relationship between fungal and plant growth. Necromancy also allows the creation of FERTILIZERS.

To be fair demonology sounds really fucking scary, especially if it freaked Mycea out.

It might have something to do with the presence of monsters. The red world is either another planet in our system, or a psychic concurrent reality (a la Emerald Dream) full of horrible things.

That said, should we let her panic and fear taint us? Or should we convert our demonologists into a daring first defense against the darkness?

The Demonoligists are not included; they are secluded, they are distinct, and their motives are unusual and the impression and response of Mycea has left a bad taste in the mouth of the Sage council. They agree they can't be ignored, but formal Cyclopean society is benevolent; she says they can be reached, there's no reason to think otherwise.

The Demonoligists are personally addressed by a small portion of the Sage council who make the commute to their little group; They make their home adjacent to the volcanic rock and hills on your home island of all places, so it isn't a "long walk".

They seem to have been in the middle of constructing some sort of door-way; using Geomancy and Pyromancy to bend and mold Obsidian and black volcanic rock to their will before using hand tools to carve finer details and runes. An arduous and tiring procedure- they welcome a break from their work to talk with the Sage council.

The conversation between them is.. brief and quiet; the disapproval of Mycea is mentioned and the Demonoligists look visibly concerned, but they do not display shock or surprise. They remain quiet: answering with short, concise, responses.

The Demonoligists tone is apologetic reluctance; they believe what they are doing is for the best, that they must remain committed and in their own way it seems they may not know the full scope of their actions, but they insist, "The Red World Calls."

>The Demonoligists have agreed to stop their efforts, but they say, "It is inevitable: across every world, across all creation, The Red world Calls."

On the contrary, we could run into other civs who did study it, and would be beneficial as a defensive measure, or maybe a magical fault line split open as a minor portal in this world someplace?

Really we are still too magically immature to even poke it yet, unless we really want a red world portal taking over our home island. (if its there). What ever we do, any portal should be on a remote place from our main lands if its ever built.

>Develop Identifying Tattoos
>Roll 96/100
>Success, +But Cultural standards have.. misinterpreted your intentions.

Collectivism exists on an incredibly ingrained level within Cyclopean: to such a degree that having a name is a cultural taboo. People do not have "names", identity is based off of the personal and outwardly context you present within society through actions, skills, and whom one associates with. Personal identity is something very open, fluid, and often changing within society.
It doesn't however impeded quantitative information: Cyclopes can keep records and track people though complex and arbitrary methods that at times can seem completely alien to people not within their society.

This brings the question of Tattoos: personal, permanent, markings and so forth are something of a "loop hole". Cyclopes do indeed enjoy stylizing and complimenting themselves with personal adornment and this does include tattoos. Tattoos however have seen use for two purposes:

>+Non-verbal Casting:Tattoos
>Magic is typically expressed through songs known as Hymns; their chorus affecting and altering the world at the behest of the soul. Tattoos though create an interesting loop hole in that they can express hymns or "cast magic" through non-verbal means via intent of the user.

>+/- Societal Punishment: Tattooing
>Cyclopes do not like to be "truly named"; there's a certain ease of fluidity and casual'ness to their vaguely anonymous society: it greatly assists and provides cohesion between large numbers of people and doesn't allow others to be trivialized or singled out making tension non-existance and feuds next to impossible. To Tattoo someone is a very serious punishment for a very serious crime,as it allows a constant identity and removes someone's cherished freedom of "unbiased judgement". Tattooing is an incredibly harsh punishment as unlike exile or ostracizaion; you often cannot escape tattooing.
>>
>>38072997
At this point, I really don't trust the Hydra Mother to do anything other than further her own interests.

If she likes the Red World, she'll give us bad information.
>>
>>38072873
And what did Mycea say?

>You must stop them because I love you and I know you and I know they are doing what the think is best in their hearts. They need to be stopped

If people won't take the literal word of a God who we know for a fact only had our best interests at heart, then I don't know what to say.
>>
>>38073006

Er, sorry, I made that sound contradictory:

Tattooing as a punishment is basically, "we're going to tattoo you in so you can WEAR what you've done and remind everyone of what an asshole you are."

Vs the more casual/personal tattooing Cyclopes willingly enjoy which is usually just simple iconography that is more vague and expressive.

We're reaching a point where culture has very complicated subtle nuances.

>>38073038
please note:
Other civs may study it. Just because we say no means nothing. Mycea warned us, and she is right, which is why i would not touch it with a barge pole until well into the advanced magics, so we can lock down and reverse anything bad that happens and just generally deal with that shit.
Ignoring it does not stop it existing. We are not the only magical beings on this world. These are simple facts.

>>38073087
Its cool. The none verbal casting will be a great boon to everyone.
>>
>>38073087
Note: does this deal with the pedophillia endemic we have been having?
>>
>>38073087
Maybe the punsihment tattoos go on the face? Around the eye? Some place exceedingly painful, impossible to remove short of blinding yourself, and immediately visible. I find it unlikely that cyclops would otherwise tattoo that area?
>>
>>38073151
I think we should make it apply if it doesn't already. Same for murderers and rapists. These 3 groups undermine the essential trust all cyclops have for one another.
>>
>>38073156
I doubt they would make tattooing itself painful, but yeah it would be in a prominent area- the face, the hands, forearm, etcetera
>>
>>38073121
I don't think we should operate under the assumption that other civs might study, therefore we should too at some point.

We were warned in no uncertain terms that this is something we should not meddle with.
>>
>>38073205
Tattoos are painful. I don't think we can avoid that, especially for facial tattoos I imagine.
>>
>>38073245
Anon, i understand the worry, but the unknown is more sure to bite you in the ass than heavily prepared and cautiously probed known. We don't even have to investigate it much, just enough to see intent and to develop counter measures for if we should ever need them.
>>
>>38073298
And we can probably ask for such measures from the Sun, Moon, and Stars so that we don't have to get much from them otherwise.
>>
>>38073323
Well if they give them to us, then i agree fully not to open the portal and prod the beast. I was speaking generally since we do not know if they will be able to.
>>
>>38073298
Again, she said even if in their hearts they think it best, you must stop them. Even looking into it with the best intentions was warned against.

>Explore and further develop the Plains/Mainlands just north: Trading post, further upgrades, and more dwellings, etc..
>Roll 99/100
>DOUBLE 99.
>Complete success met with interesting results

The North, beyond the mountains: it is a land defined by arid plains, unusual mounds which mysterious Ant beings seem to reside within, and a mysterious nation and species of morphic chalk-pale beings known as the changelings. The only solace or sign of relief within these lands is the coasts which host flourishing jungles, but are home to a number of dangerous large mammals and dinosaurs.

The Few Cyclopes whom willingly dwell within this Area only do so within close proximity to the road leading beyond the mountain and into the safety of the province of Mycea's Grove: Mostly mining towns, hunting camps, some small agrarian settlements in the jungles and the people whom frequent the trade monolith.

Your presence on the savanna has been growing though and the Changelings that frequent your area have become more and more accustomed to your unusual people. Trade has slowly and steadily grown and has brought an assortment of new and interesting items: Cheese, paper books, illustrated literature, wine, as well as a host of grain breads and vegetables.

The most interesting thing they've brought -though very rarely- is a strange orange tinted metal they use for some of their tools and weapons as well as their distinctly mammalian livestock you've noticed them herd and go to great efforts to protect: Small, noisy, googly-eyed looking deer with rigged horns and beards called a "goat" as well as much LARGER, wide shouldered, deer with long triceratops like horns and black, red, or white hides that they call an "Aurochs".
>>
>>38073428
Look, we need info. If we can't get that without trafficking with the red world? Then we cut this off cold.
>>
>>38073464
I wonder what the cyclops thought of cheese when they first saw it.

>so you mean you let a bucket of milk rot, wait until it's a yellow paste, and then you eat it?
>>
>>38073485
We don't need info, we already know it's bad news. Unless you dare claim that Mycea may have been lying or hiding something.
That makes you a heathen.
>>
>>38073680
I'm saying that even she wouldn't ask us to be blind. We aren't the only ones being called by thus. We have to know enough to fucking defend ourselves.
>>
>>38073680
Info to potentially protect ourselves if we should come across it elsewhere, which in a magical world, is very likely. Are you not getting this concept? Mycea does not dictate what we do, even if we respect her greatly.
>>
>>38073680
Mycea probably has been lying from the start, though. We were foolish to trust her.
>>
>>38073655
>They try cheese, and to their surprise it's delicious
> They decide to experiment with letting other foods rot into pastes

>Unless you dare claim that Mycea may have been lying or hiding something.
She definitely was hiding the fact that she would die when she would enact her plan. And if it weren't for the fact we eavesdropped on her celestial conversation, she might've been lied to us about what her plan even was too.

I don't think she would've lied or hid stuff from us for malicious intent. But she has indeed, LIED and HIDDEN truths from us.
>>
>>38073719
WE AM PLAY GOD
>>
>>38073718
Actually, direct quote from the OP:

>Hold on, hold on. What if she just did something really bad? What if she and the hydra mother conned us?

When we found Mycea she had been left for dead; a dried out husk of a god that had been physically and mentally abused for possibly centuries at the behest of a more advanced civilization that simply did not respect her beyond her functional use as a tool.
Mycea was saved by you, Mycea was nursed back to health by you, Mycea who had spent a life of abuse, neglect, and manipulation was treated to an insurmountable amount of respect she had never once experienced before in her long, long, life- and you did it without a moments notice and asked for nothing in return.

Mycea lived as she died; for other people, but she at the very least died for the people who actually cared about her. If there were ever a being or faction that truly and completely loved your people- it was Mycea.
>>
>>38073718
If she has its that "better they don't know" kind of lie parents tell their children. Its a santa claus lie, its the "gone to the farm" lie.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but births between a cyclops male and a forgo female result in a local born gorgon right? Could we ask her to change her people so it's an equal chance of being either parent's race?

>Provide support for Akalade; investigate his emotional distress and or reasoning behind ostracizing himself.
>Roll 18/20
>Overwhelming Success. +Cultural Bonus

A number of people including Akalade's own adopted family have become more and more concerned with his well being and emotional health due to the recent and abrupt change in attitude and behavior. When Akalade originally came here he was xenophobic, mildly racist, and vocally intolerant of the indigenous culture. However, his heart slowly changed, he found love and at some points even stopped wearing his suit outside.
But then he lost love, experienced death, watched as everyone around him grew old and died, and the only thing that remained constant within his life was his work.

You come to Akalade's home to try and find out what's wrong: He's locked himself in and has regrown a kind of protective sealed membrane around his room that's much like the one he originally obsessed over. What can only amount to an "intervention"; Akalade's entire family is there to try and get him to come out of his room.

It takes a while, but Akalade does eventually come out of his room; he's not wearing his suit though, but instead coming out completely covered in a silk blanket he desperately clings to. His little face peeking out is defined by empty sad eyes that seem to have accepted some fate before he slowly lowers his blanket and shows you what has happened to cause such distress. (part 2 incoming)
>>
>>38074015
We should bank it I think. For now let's focus on geting the gorgons to work together and for the hydra mother to be less dickish
>>
>>38074155
That'd be a pretty tough birth though. Even cyclops babies must be pretty damn big.
>>
>>38074188
Could be that those born from gorgon eggs just grow faster after they've hatched and catch up with normal ones?

Also, Gorgons birthing female cyclops and Gorgons alone would work just fine given our lack of monogamy.
>>
>>38074188
Well, maybe cyclops-fathered gorgons have gotten bigger over time.

And don't gorgons lay eggs anyway?
>>
>>38074170
Extra credit? Not a bad idea.
"So remember that favor you said you owed us but never delivered on? Well, we just got all of your tribes to stop fighting and killing each other. Peace, love, yadda yadda yadda."
Narrow eye. "Now about that favor."
>>
>>38074170
Pretty much this.

Now that Akalade and the demon cult are under control, let's resolve the political situation.

Help the Dinosaur tribe with whatever it is planning and show the Hydra Mother she isn't on the right path.
>>
Instead of using our gift for cyclops/gorgon hybrids, which the gods have confirmed as being a bad idea, we should use it to ask for her to be more open, to be kind and receptive. You know, less of a bitch
>>
>>38074170
Reading about the hydra-mother through the threads... I really think she's just tsundere as fuck. She is a fertility and maternity goddess. She just has a really hard time acting like she truly loves others. She apparently feels strong maternal feelings for all sapient beings... I'm willing to bet she's torn up as fuck about having to hurt the manticore tribe, but she's gotta fight them given their culture to protect those who have sworn to her.
>>
>>38074304
Not hybrids, just children of both species.
>>
>>38074308
Maybe she has something like Akelades problem? She has to watch her children die over and over.....
>>
>>38074350
That's what I'm thinking. Read her entry in the beastiary.
>>
>>38074308
>we compose the ultimate lullaby full of ara-ara and love for one's children; one that makes gorgons weep and hug their daughters

>>
>>38074338
That could backfire. It'd give the Gorgon Empire natural born cyclopean sons.
>>
>>38074472
I don't see how that's a backfire.
>>
>>38074472
Except as far as I know. All cyclops born are between Gorgons who joined us, no cyclops has joined the gorgon empire.
>>
>>38074491
Because cyclopeans are the most powerful spellcasters we know of and the Empire is no stranger to war.
>>
>>38074472
isn't that what we've been trying with our gorgon waifus?
>>
>>38074511
I mean all cyclops-gorgon pairings were between citizens of our empire, not theirs.
>>
>>38074168

His ears have become much longer and drawn out, folding slightly within themselves much like a deer's, his forehead seems larger- to the point where a flat wide ridge is beginning to form pushing up his teal hair that he's allowed to grown long and unkempt from isolation. What's more; Akalade is beginning to fill out slightly with greater height, lean muscle definition and a very slightly fuller "chest" expressed in his form as well as a vividly bright-blue patterning beginning to develop in the form of square shaped patterning that dot his cheeks, neck, and shoulders like large freckles. Akalade's face is slightly sharper, with subtly more prominent cheek bones- He's very quick to stop below the stomach. He is in no rush to show you what has happened to his genitals.

There's resignation in Akalade's voice, "I have ... spent too much time on this world." He begins to weep, despite there not being any change in his face or distant expression. "I will continue to worsen: I will grow ugly and then I will grow stupid and there is nothing I can do."

>Akalade believes his prolonged exposure to the world's explicit and constant magical radiation in the form of food, drink, and physical interaction with it's indigineous flora and fauna has caused him to "adapt" to his environment.

>He could, also; just be going through his Species' version of puberty, due to the necessary environmental and nutritional methods being met and he's freaking out because his species is "immortal" and most likely do not experience secondary sexual maturity under "normal" conditions.

>It is most likely both.

Either way: Akalade is not used to being an "animal": this is an extremely unusual, confusing, and uncomfortable experience for Akalade right now that disgusts and frightens him.

>Diplomacy: Speak and Discuss livestock exchanges and better relations with: Dinosaur and Snow.
>Roll 17/20
>Success. +Racial bonus, +Cultural bonus

>The Snow Cyclopes
The Southern continent is unfortunately defined by Ice, snow, and fern forests and is has spent the majority of it's history cut off from the rest of the world preventing the variety in animals we've come to appreciate.. it however makes up for this in a rich diversity of birds. Flightless birds such as the dodo and the predatorial Terrorbird, Mammal-like Birds such as kakongas, platypus, and hippogriffs as well as a host of impressive reptiles that does include boiling lizards. They also house at least three species of WYVERNS.

>The Dinosaur Tribe
The Dinosaur tribe doesn't mince words: they'd be happy to exchange livestock with you and willingly give you a breeding stock of sauropods as a gift for allowing them to pacify Kush those few years back. They're not currently interested in parties though at the moment; their Chieftain has them on a disciplined schedule and she is motivated to increase productivity and an economy that will rival the empires.

>+New Livestock: Sauropod. !!!New Mount!!!
>The Sauropod is one of the largest land animals you've ever known and is also thankfully; domesticated to some degree. The Sauropod is raised for it's meat, hide, bones, eggs and as a beast of burden/war. The Sauropod is significant in that A CYCLOPES CAN RIDE IT. TWO Cyclopes can in fact ride ontop of a Sauropod without burdening or discomforting the animal. The Sauropod is also very danger; despite it's placid look it is quite capable of defending itself.

After that, I vote we build observatories in the mountains to better see and chart the stars.

>Diplomatic exchange between the Manticore Tribe.
>Roll 20/20
>Complete Success, met with overwhelming census.

The Manticore tribe hasn't really "gone" anywhere so much as they've just begun to formally avoid contact with the other Gorgon cultures: they do infact still frequent Mycea's grove and your people are almost positive that their "capital" is somewhere within the province. They don't make any trouble for your people; quite the contrary, they still immensely enjoy the company of your people over other Gorgons. Manticore tribeswomen are common attendants to Mycea's Festivals, they run a very lucrative sex industry within the province, and a small portion of them even settle down to become fungal farmers or bath maidens.

Outside of your calming influence though; they continue to be sadistic, cunning, and creative killers. From what you understand, the Manticore tribe has not actually changed.
The Manticore tribe isn't "suicidal" or crazy- they respect the province of Mycea's grove as sacred ground that allows them the breathing room to breed, lay eggs, and rear young. This was a practice they once held and represented using Totems to the Hydra mother, but the Hydra mother has proven dishonorable in their eyes and Mycea has provided 'them' with an entire land; housed and defined by a people that have come to represent the other side of the cycle.

To put it into simpler terms: Cyclopes have cultural significance within Manticore Culture that dissuades them from acting out on their violence tendencies. They don't see you as "people" so much as..a being with immense spiritual significance.
>>
>>38076524
so any luck in dissuading them from pursuing raiding against raiding other gorgons?
>>
>>38076616
Baby steps, I guess. At this rate the manticore might get absorbed by us.
>>
>>38076524
Manticores see themselves as the people of death and decay

But see the Cyclops as agents of life and growth?
>>
>>38076524
Oh God, we're Gods to them.

Which isn't that bad. They respect and revere us to an insane degree, which we could use to our advantage. They're okay with not being violent around us. Which... if we were to formally induct them into our civilization may be ideal... especially if we want them to be our military "caste".
>>
>>38076627
Well considering our reputation of generally fixing shit and living life to the fullest, yeah its a quite accurate description of us.
>>
>>38076649
Them as a military, or at least guard, caste would be good. Perhaps the dinosaur tribe could serve the same function.

I don't want to go full conquistador, but you gotta admit that bringing a military force along with overseas expeditions is a good idea. Even if we don't want to conquer and enslave, we gotta protect our boats and forts from whatever lurks in the depths of the oceans or foreign lands.
>>
>>38076649
We don't need a military or a caste system. We never have. We're not even under threat.
>>
>>38076680
I guess subsuming and using a tribe of people because they're useful is better than destroying or exploiting them because they're different.
>>
>>38076524
we definitely need to take steps to bring them into us. We love them dearly, they are in many ways our closest friends amongst the Gorgons beyond those of our own blood. But this is not how it should be, they will create such hatred against themselves that they who are so close to us might end up being exterminated.

I say we ask them to join us, fully. To bring with them their knowledge in all things as they join us. To be made stronger, together. A true union.

Also. I say we call on the favor from the Hydra-Mother. We get her to allow for true unions between Cyclops and Gorgon, and even other races. She is a fertility and maternity goddess. Well she should be able to grant this.

Make it so that gorgons who interbreed with other sapients and lay eggs, that those eggs can hatch into EITHER race. It doesn't matter if those born are JUST female I should say, because any female cyclops for example won't bear children without another half, but it should begin to bring up cyclops numbers to parity with gorgon ones.
>>
>>38076699
again, it was a word i used for stand in. I really don't want a caste system either, but I do really want some form of military or warrior group proper.
>>
>>38076699
>>38076700
>>38076722
I think a better way to put it is that the Manticore and Dinosaur tribes would be like the Scots.

A distinct entity within another political entity, known for their unique qualities and distinguished in the military.
>>
>>38076718
>I say we call on the favor from the Hydra-Mother. We get her to allow for true unions between Cyclops and Gorgon, and even other races. She is a fertility and maternity goddess. Well she should be able to grant this.
I would love "true union" too, and that definitely should be what we should use the Hydra Mother's reward on, that is unless war were declared between the gorgons or open hostilities occur.

We should save the favor to prevent war. And the gorgon tribes are on edge as is. We defnitely shouldn't use it before the damn thing starts.

That said I'd really like either some Half-Breed babies or gorgons to be able to give birth to cyclopses.
>>
>>38076718
It'd cause us a lot fewer problems to just keep them as allies. We don't need them spreaeding their bloodthirsty cultral throughout our civ.
>>
>>38076748
Now that's a good way of putting it. Good on you mate.
>>
>>38076722
I have to agree here. We have no idea when the merpeople are going to get super pissed off and attack, and we will NEED warriors against them if it comes to that.

I say we invite the Manticores to become one with us, a single people. They are near and dear to our hearts no matter what they have done to others.

But here's big deal. We need to solve the whole 'gorgons only give birth to gorgons' thing. Otherwise we WILL stop being cyclops someday.

We really really REALLY, more than anything else. Need to find a way for cyclops children to be born from gorgon-cyclops unions.

>>38076798
See, here's the thing. I don't think it would spread true blood thirst through us. Our own culture incredibly out numbers theirs. They would, however, give us that drop of bloodlust we are -going to need- someday.
>>
>>38076748
>>38076699
>>38076680
I've always wanted some form of military, not for attacking of course, us being docile, but for protection in case things go south or we have to face something huge, violent, and can't be reasoned with.
>>
>>38076834
Not to mention sea monsters and other terrible beasts.
>>
>>38076834
Dragons, boiling lizards, Zizz, manticores, big ol' beasties of the worst kind.
>>
>>38076834
Our magic can be turned into a horrifying weapon that the gorgons can't even protect themselves from at any given notice. We don't even need a large military.
>>
>>38076798
I dunno. I'd think we'd spread our "peacefullness" to them more than they'd spread their "warlikeness" to us.
>>
>>38076930
That might be true now, but who knows what the Red World brings or what other races inhabit this continent.

We shouldn't have an offensive military, but a defensive one.
>>
Do you suppose we'll have time to convince the Hydra Mother to stop being a tsundere bitch tonight?
>>
>>38076952
The manticores wouldn't be a defensive military. They're incredibly agressive. Even towards two of our current trading partners.
>>
>>38077020
We could turn them into a monster hunting and anti-demon unit.
>>
>>38076952
>>38076930
Which is why i dread the day we meet a group of cyclopses that DON'T agree with us. A foreign culture tempered by hardship and duress. That sees first to raise their fist than raise their voices when faced with conflict.

An enemy Cyclops Civ, would be terrifying on a philosophical level, and psychological level.

>Sun Counter Roll: 7/20
>Hydra Mother Counter Roll: 8/20
>Moon supportive roll: 20
>The Moon wins.
>The Moon tells you what it wants to tell you.

With Akalade's best interests in mind; a small portion of the Sage's councils calls forth a session to divine the nature of his transformation so they can better provide emotional and physical support in whatever his fate spells for him. Akalade's "adopted" family is brought over- one of them carrying grumpy, mopey, Akalade in their arms so he may be within the audience as the Hymns are chanted and the alcohol is drank so the communion may commence proper.

Unfortunately the ritual becomes postponed as no one can get anything done: Akalade's sadness is contagious and the oldest of your kind's maternal/paternal instincts get the better of them (Children are almost always raised communally) and once enough alcohol is drank; most sages can't help but coddle him: tell him stories, give him pieces of dried fruit and other snacks and quickly forget what they were doing. Akalade feels patronized, but on the other hand he appreciates the attention.

The Moon however is "still on the other line" and she runs interference: The Megaliths resound, the council quickly chimes back in with their hymns, mediums, and instruments, and Akalade is put back down so the reflected light of the moon may shine upon the minds of it's worshippers and illuminated the needs and nature of Akalade's changes.

It's a reminiscent and bemused tone; one deeply lined with Nostalgia. "You kept my child.. That was unexpected, but I'm pleased by how he Grows: his form is natural; this frightens him though as his kind has long since sanitized themselves and their environment. You would do me a kindness to encourage his natural health; to see the return of his true form would please me to no end, to remind me of a time when even I was once such savage and beautiful like your world..."

I mean outside of a big war with another race (like the merfolk), what is another good use for a dedicated population of warriors?

>>
>>38077299
Can we please invent gorgon pro wrestling!?!
>>
>>38077416
That's very dinosaur tribe.
>>
>>38077324
I'm open to an alternative. I was trying to make it sound as un-murdersome as I could.

To be fair if we bring them in our civ we might need to find something they can do instead of kill other people and kill eachother. Or at worst, be prepared to deal with the fact that they like to kill eachother.

I'd like to think we can convince them to ablate their violent tendencies to a Professional Wrestling or Sparring or Boxing or some sort of Gorgon olympics.

Hell maybe include Cyclopses in the Olympics?

>>38077354
The Murder Game they held was to determine the chieftain after one of our own accidentally murder-sexed her. That was by no means their equivalent of Monday Night Football in terms of recreational hurt-sport. It is the exception not the norm.
>>
>>38077468
Maybe we can convince the manticore tribe to take their militaristic pursuits and hone them into a meditative art. Tai-chi or kyudo being examples.
>>
>>38077468
Olympics sound good. Weightlifting, track and field, wrestling, and it's all bloodless.
>>
>>38077388
something like that bending sport in Legend of Korra or the earth bending fights in Avatar the last Airbender? I'd be okay with that. How about both and Sumo as a physical sports for those not good at magic?

>>38077468
Sumo.
>>
So priorities next time:
1) We get the Hydra-Mother to make it so that Gorgon eggs will hatch into the race of either parent, not just more gorgons with superficial features of the non-gorgon parent.

2) We fully incorporate the Manticore into our own selves, redeem them as it were. We know they can be gentle and kind, not murderous and rapine, and we can bring that out in them.

3) We use sauropods with hover-pots to make better, more bulky, long term transport across our land based trade networks.

4) We expand our mines in the mountains.

5) We build observatories in the mountains.

6) We expand our farming of Mycea's Domain to turn it into a turbo-bread-basket.

7) We establish a sea trade route from our islands to the jungle colonies south of the mountains.

8) We establish some sort of accord between ourselves, the dino tribe, and the empire, possibly the manticore too if they don't get absorbed by us.

9) We find a way to get the fucking Mycea seed to the moon. Because if we can't do that then we might as well fucking revive her with it.

I miss anything?
>>
>>38077468
I'm totally at a loss as to why people want to make them part of our civ. We're polar opposites when it comes to our beliefs in violence. We're much more culturally compatible with the Dinosaur tribe.
>>
>>38077416
I like the way you think.

But maybe with an "Olympics" or big mixed sporting event we can include and create a whole slew of games.

>Magic Skeet Shooting.
>Cyclopean Soccer World Cup.
>Gorgon Wrestling
>Paralysis Archery
>Staring Contests
>Cyclops Sumo
>Caber Toss
>That Other Game that involves tossing a heavy metal ball.

I could go on.
>>
>>38077583
Because we want everyone to be our friends.
>>
>>38077592
Maybe we could have a sport where cyclops, dinosaur, and manticore are all equally important?
>>
>>38077583
Its the challenge really, and they've been really nice to us.

But you are absolutely right. They are our polar opposite. We only consider it because they treat us nicely. Think of it this way, we may not like them, but they like us.
>>
>>38077611
Then make them allies. It'd still get us their support with a much more reduced risk of tainting our culture with theirs.

((Sorry, no more rolls. It's time for Mycea's 2nd phase and to call it a night))

>+Ecological & Political Development: Mycea's plan becomes more explicit. Let the writhing beast rot and be consumed.

The Ocean has been grown more and more quiet as of recent years; not literally mind you, no, good heavens- the sound of sea birds has been constant and it seems everyday the sights and sounds of life become increasingly more explicit with each coming year. The "darkness" though, the "blackness" and the storms seem to be fading at once were common and frequent seem to becoming more "natural" and regulated on a 'comfortable' seasonal basis.

Your coastal communities are naturally very pleased; they've never experienced such a bounty of the sea that it would be constantly climbing out of the ocean to meet them on land and their dinner tables.... but everyone is mistaken.

There is no abundance. The Sea is fleeing.
There is something deep and dark writhing and moving around in the lowest depths of the ocean and it is moving and every venue, every single piece of kelp to lobster is afraid on every base line level their minds are capable of understanding. And so they run.

But the something deep and dark is catching up and the something is coming to the shore; not all at once, but in pieces and fragments. The unlucky get to see them every once and a while: Great writhing, flexing, strands of twisting flesh rising from the ocean depths- to painfully flex and pulse before sprouting a flourish of kelp, shellfish, and corals that ultimately cause it to buckle from it's weight and tear apart.

>Let his flesh rot, let his bones be splintered. I will tear and rend his form and consume it.

>>38077673
You know guys. Mycea mentioned this before, but she said there were races that were closer to the deep eye's flesh.
Those races included the Cyclopses, the Merfolk, and the Changelings.

What if these balls of flesh... are the origination point of a new race?
>>
>>38077871
I think the manticore tribe needs something rouge-y to keep their interest.

Something like a mix between paintball, capture the flag, and American football. Perhaps very Quidditch-ish.

The people of the Sea themselves are no exception; it takes them longer, they are hesitant, and stubborn- their more complex minds perhaps having room for disillusioned thoughts of mercy or being spared, but they eventually succumb and begin to flee as well.

They come up in great droves: causing chaos and confusion from their displacement as hundreds turn into thousands of merpeople swimming in schools that beach themselves upon your shores to crawl and slither over it's sandy and rocky beaches in an attempt to flee. They bring with them children, warriors, sages, craftsmen, hunters, no one of any status or background is exempt. They do not talk, there is no yelling, there is only the sound of hundreds and thousands of webbed feet and tails slapping as they run.

The ocean begins to foreshadow it's arrival; the familiarity of a once pro-longed event now begins again as the depths call back the ocean, the tide slowly starting to recede just a little more everyday as if to try and drag back and consume the life that has fled in futility from it.

You can see it.
Miles away- your Fisherman at least and some Southerners can see it. It's form adds a noticeably and foreboding "bump" that breaks up the curvature of the earth and adds definition on the horizon of the ocean: Eyes.

It sees you.

>All will be undone. There will not be reality, we will live in a world of dreams. Let us sleep the sleep of the endless; and our lives will no longer be burdened by chaos and suffering.
>Through disorder, through oneness; I will consume all and as you once dwelled within me- so too will you once again.
>Dream.

The dreams, the horrible, unrelenting, nightmarish dreams are drawing out the suffering- and they become more livid, graphic, and realistic as the being's presence comes closer.
>>
>>38078029
I don't. These things walk up on land then die. Not a problem really.
>>
>>38078039
Okay, how bout this:

It's like football, where you get the ball across the field and score a touchdown, but you have to mark your reciever with a paint arrow in order for him/her to be elligable.

Furthermore, the defending team can steal a flag to receive points.

It'll be a more defensive game than American Football, with longer plays, but the Manticore tribe should appreciate the marksmenship aspect as well as the opportunity for them to be sneaky devils.

Summon the Zizz!
Right now I'm listening to Knights of Fire ((Xenogears)) and I'm picturing a Dinosaur tribe Gorgon punching the Deep One while a Cyclops is chanting a spell and Zizz coming out of now where, wrecking everything in it's path.
>>
>>38078171
I'm sure they're perfectly friendly.
>>
>>38078039
Team based freeze tag?
Dinosaur gorgons being offensive types... and Manticore gorgons equipped with "Flash" gear in order to slow the big burly types down.

Maybe cyclopses can participate as some third "Everyone gets frozen" class because of their hymns being able to KO gorgons.

Maybe its all about preventing a cyclops from reaching the goal and dinosaurs act as defenders.
Imagine two teams of this kind of thing.
>>

There are no clouds, there are no waves, there are no storms, there is nothing but the calmness and picturesque scenerinity of the ocean. This is misinformed by those who cannot see it from a distance: it is the tide, it is the depths; the waves rise and reveal the form of writhing blackness surrounding a single eye.

Such an immense eye that stares long and jealously at the surface world and dry land; the land that mocks it's kind with it's abundance in rich, diverse, life fed and grown fat from the flesh and blood of his kind. He IS the world, this reality is nothing but an approximation- a broken and disjointed realm that sullies his perfection.

His voice; it calls. It echoes and reverberates with a longing and deeply familiar tone that resonates within the mind of every creature, every plant, every animal, every living being.
Especially your own people.

>Come Home.
>You're not like them; you are of my own flesh and blood. You of one Eye; you were meant for greater things.
>Aren't you alone?
>Come Home.
>Aren't you alone?
>Come into the depths, come back; into the depths.

You offer us dreams. You beckon us with simple words and petty promises, to dwell within your shadow in the depths of a lost and forgotten ocean.
To this, we say one word:
No.
We who were once of your flesh have surpassed you. We have heard the songs of this realm and followed our own path to build this civilization. We have welcomed the Gorgons into our fold, we have quelled the wrath of the Zizz, and we have known the love of Mycea, a greater and more noble being than you will ever hope to be. And we stand here against your tides even as you rot away, and when you are gone and your lifeless husk erodes away into nothingness, only we will remain.
You tell us to come home?
We are home.

((I was thinking more of this tbh: youtube.com/watch?v=yMPRMKUQLM0 ))

There is love and there's is a fondness for the land and it's people within the hearts and minds of your people and although it might sound banal; life's greatest strength is that of love. Love, the source of life, the source of diversity, conflict, chaos, and the breadth of vivid and fertile life that is expressed so commonly and casually.

The Great Progenitor's mind cannot pierce your own: it has been become accustomed to the warmth of others and to the beauty of friendship and companionship and cannot be tempted by the unity his endless dream brings.

His beckoning ends.
The Laughter begins.
The Deep, cackling, long, drawn out and horrid laughter that can be heard across the minds of thousands of people.

>I will come.
BUT HE'LL COME NEXT SESSION. WOOPWOOP.
Sorry guys, we're stretching it thin: you'll have to wait until next time for our climatic conclusion to the great progenitor.

So I get the vague feeling Myceas plan was to bring the Great progenitor to Life enough so we could kill it ourselves. No way we could touch it while it was at the bottom of the sea. but now that he's been forced above due to poison I guess it is up to us to finish him off while he is weak.

You know this whole situation reminds me of another time a pretty face convinced some people into unwittingly unleashing an ancient horror so they could kill it.

>Did our people get any increase in their lifespans because of the improved healing magic we now have?

It increase lifespan as well as the recovery rate of a number of diseases and infections. It's a very good "overall" medical upgrade since the addition of both necromancy and healing magics are crucial for precision medical work.

>>38078683
>Will there be more Red World next time?
That all depends on what you guys decide to do. The Red World is out there and does have the potential to be extremely relevant. There's also nothing stopping OTHER races- anywhere else on our world- from hearing or answering it's call.

>>38078792
>Is Akalade really turning into a girl?
No, Akalade is just pretty because he's an Elf. He is turning into a young man- if you're thinking he's growing breasts; that's my bad, I didn't have any dignified way of saying "pecs".
Akalade doesn't want you to show his genitals because he thinks their growth and engorgement is disgusting. He's immortal, his perception of time is VERY different, so he can see his body seemingly grow in "real time". It's very disturbing and uncomfortable on his end.

Akalade at this point has I think lived for about 300 years on our planet.
In the span of maybe, like, 4-5? He is undergoing drastic changes right before his eyes.
Everyday he wakes up and he can barely recognize himself and is repulsed by the changes.

He's just weirded out and scared.
>>
>>38078933
Well, there's that giant bow plan, and then there are war bells, and then there's the possibility of fighting him directly.

We should at least TRY to solve the problem on our own.
>>
>>38078958

War Bells.
Build a range of war bells all along the coast for ten to twenty miles, doubled or tripled in size.
Split up all of our best spellcasters and have them man the bells.
Then fire them all at once, over and over until there's nothing left on the horizon.
>>

Possibly. Honestly she said the Progenitor was dead before we tried to poison it, but its spirit lived on or it was trying to pull what Hydra Mother did.

Maybe her plan was to wake it from the depths, while it was still vulnerable, so that we could have the chance to kill it ourselves. I mean there was no way we could reach it otherwise right?

She's goaded him into a confrontation.
The rest is up to us.

Both sides still cannot communicate with one another vocally, but you've got a decent "sharades" diplomacy going on and no one is worried about killing one another at the moment.

The Changeling language isn't entirely vocal; it also incorporates a lot of hand gestures and discreet physical transformations that make it impossible for non-changelings to pick up or replicate...so.. there are some hurdles to get over.

>>38079463
They won't just give up their entire way of life at the drop of a hat. At the very least we should try to get them to be more peaceful before any mention of joining our civ is made.
>>
>>38079504
I think just inviting them more and more into our homes and lives, give them free reign of our territory. As long as they commit no violence against anyone, even their enemies, while amongst us.
>>
>>38079504
Thing is I feel there is no excuse for them to be Peaceful outside of our civ.

To put it another way, you don't tell a stranger not to be a slob at home, when he doesn't live in your home. Expecting him to respect your opinion when you have no authority over him is dumb.

If he lives with you, i guess he'd have to change his tune or get out.

Thats sort of how I feel with the Manticore tribe.
We can make them more peaceful if they live amongst us... if they have to live up to our standard.

That said I'd think we'd negate their warrior culture if we made them completely pacified. They need some outlet for their violent tendancies.

The Dinosaur tribe is larger, better organized, less violent, has a better economy, and aren't at war with the Empire. Not to mention they don't have an obsession with death, dying, and murder, unlike the manticores.
>>
>>38079617
Because Mycea is gone because of us. Because she was the thing helping them get better. Because we think we can redeem them. Because the alternative is for them to be cast out permanently or exterminated. Because they have been good to us and we have a duty to make things better.
>>
>>38079617
They just seem like the easier choice.

Stats and OP said that the dinosaur tribe is staunchly independent and nomadic.

We have an advantage with the manticores that makes them straight up easier to assimilate, in that we cyclopses have a big place in their mythology and social heirarchy. They like us, pure and simple. They make strides to be less dickish in our presence. We have a positive effect on them.

and really, with the dissolution of the spider tribe, the manticores might be the smallest tribe now. They need the support.
