October 13, UC 0084.

You are Lieutenant Commander Carya Marseille, and things seem to have gotten somewhat out of hand.

Again.

As it turns out Titans has developed some sort of psychic weapon here in Leipzig, and you and your squad were just hit by it in a surprise counterattack during your nighttime raid on the Leipzig Newtype lab. Its effects seem unpredictable: Haman and Audrey are both off their proverbial game and Rossweisse was left with a splitting headache, but the most interesting effects were on you and Dominic.

Normally you can trust Dom to keep himself and his abilities under careful control. Though combat gets his blood pumping the same as it does for you, the guy never lets it get the better of him. For the most part his clear head is one of his greatest weapons, but that's gone straight out the window. The Titans' weapon has left him enraged without succeeding in incapacitating him, creating a dangerous situation all-around. He'll be far more aggressive as long as his mind is affected, without losing any of his precision or the benefit of his finely-honed combat instincts.

As for you, your mind has separated from Catrina's after she took the brunt of the attack for you. In your case, as Carrina you remember being nearly overwhelmed by lust as a side effect of the psychic weapon. Catrina's feeling it enough for both of you now, which has left her incapacitated for the time being. The only way to get her back into the fight would be to take on your “fair share” of the emotional strain and risk being overwhelmed by unwanted and *very* untimely sexual desire.

>You will be playing as Carya for the near ffuture. Carya's rolls work similarly to Dominic's with one exception: if two of the first three rolls are regular successes, you may take a critical success. This ability can be used once per encounter, no more than three times per in-game day. You currently have two uses of it for this day.

“You okay up there?” you hear Rossweisse struggle to speak over the pain in her head, which is almost bad enough to bleed over into your mind as well.

You key your mike. “Fine. Catrina took it for both of us, so she'll be sleeping it off. Otherwise we'd probably be forcing ourselves on the first person we came across.”

“Good thing she's napping then,” Rossweisse chuckles nervously, realizing her proximity would make her the first and most likely target.

In front of you the newtype in the purple machine is engaging Dominic, who has loudly called dibs on the poor bastard. His cyber-newtype companion in the white and orange suit has not moved.

The regular forces stationed at the Leipzig airport will be scrambling now, but are likely to take serious casualties from the Nagato's impending orbital bombardment.

The Matabiri, a giant mobile armor you suspect operates in the area, has yet to appear.

This leaves you with a few alternatives:

>Attack the cyber newtype
>Attack the building behind her
>Sweep the area, search for some of the “regular” Titans forces to engage
>Try to talk to the cyber newtype
>Check on the Puru sisters and Ms Pazom
>Other?

>Alternately you may have Rossweisse handle any communications-related tasks while you attack something, but Rosse will not be able to assist in your fight.

Eh, as far as targets for Dom's unbridled homicidal rage are concerned there are only a hand full of more deserving options I can think of and half of them wear a Titans uniform anyway. From what I read of Ein he has it coming one way or another.
>>
>>38222746
Nah. Matabiri is just a really big Arms Fort and thus easy to mission kill. The purple suit is what is going to kill us if we let it stick around. Plus, the sooner we knock it out, the quicker the cyber NT joins our harem.

You maneuver past Dominic as he and the pilot of the purple machine exchange a flurry of blows: not proper beam saber strikes, but body blows with their machine's fists. You see what your lover's doing, of course: he's using his machine's speed to shake the enemy pilot up and prevent him from properly deploying his weapons. Finally, Dom takes a moment to ignite his beam saber, scoring a glancing blow against his opponent even as he draws it. It's amazing that the poor young man in the purple Titans machine is still alive after that exchange, but you quickly figure out how he managed: a series of whip-like weapons have extended from his machine's arm binders, which intercepted Dom's strike.

"Damn, he's pissed," Rosse muses as you move in towards the heart of the research facility, searching out any defensive reaction.

You contact Rossweisse's cockpit again. "Open a comm link with the white suit, figure out what the hell she's doing!" you order. "I'll handle the battle up here."

"Affimative," Rosse quickly agrees.

Rossweisse quickly manages to contact your cyber newtype opponent as you move your own machine towards one of the buildings you thought might be a hangar.

"What are you doing?" Rosse hisses, the pain in her head giving her words a harder edge than she probably intended. "What was that attack? And just who ARE you?"

"I am Sera, and that was the Serein System," the cyber-newtype responds. "It was named for me, and Ein ordered me to use it. I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize," Rosse retorts as you come into view of the hangar, and spy four machines in the process of taking off. Three are Gaplants, but the fourth is a model neither you nor your computer recognize. It possesses oversized, thruster-laden shoulders and a backpack with two oversized binders, each with a series of thrusters at one end and beam cannon barrels at the other. Its arms end in three-clawed hands, and some sort of beam emitter protrudes from each of its wrists.

"Just put an end to it!" Rossweisse insists as you launch one of the six small warheads on the Sericea's hip towards the lead Gaplant.

It's a magnificent explosion of blue particles, and it causes the Gaplant to tumble to the asphalt and roll. What remains of it disintegrates in a magnificent fireball as it meets the ground. After a moment of shock, the unknown machine rounds on you as a familiar voice cries at you in fury.

"Cacooler! You killed him you BITCH!"

Cacooler... wasn't that...

"Miss Rira, Miss Mouar, continue the mission. I'll handle this," Jerid Messa hisses angrily over an open comm.

"As you order," an unfamiliar female voice responds as the other two Gaplants take off, headed for the river.

Meanwhile, you note with satisfaction that Dom is destroying his foe somewhere behind you. Your rear view camera shows you the results of his rage.

Well, looks like they've finally hired Scirocco to do design work for them. Because that sure sounds like a Messala to me.

"Come on, surely you can do better!" Dominic shouts at his beleaguered enemy as he slices away one of the tentacles that managed to grab hold of his Lilium's left arm. "Raw Newtype talent's not gonna work! Try something else!"

He steps in, making three quick thrusts with his beam saber. One glances off the shoulder binder of his target, and the other leaves a hole in the purple machine's side.

"I'll kill you, punk!" the pilot of the Titans machine yells back in a wild voice. "Sera! Use it now!"

As a pissed-off Jerid Messa bears down on your machine with extraordinary speed and agility, you brace yourself for an intense matchup.

Jerid Messa charges you with his mobile suit, making leaps and bounds with the assistance of those massive thrusters: given their size and power, and the fact he was sortieing with three units that were transformed for aerial flight, you'd guess that this thing is capable of sustained aerial flight as well. So as tempting as it is to take to the skies, that may not get you an advantage.

As he closes he raises one clawed arm, telegraphing a strike from a beam saber. You instantly realize that this means both the beam emitters on his arms are capable of forming a blade, and the fact that he keeps his off arm low and tucked into the side with the barrel of the emitter pointed straight at you suggests it can fire like a beam spot gun. In short, it's similar in a lot of ways to your own machine.

Jerid's given away his only real advantage: the fact that until just now you had no idea of his machine's capabilities. Now, though, you've read him like an open book.

"Rosse, wires," you command, igniting your own beam blade but not bothering to draw it fully. You parry the raised right arm of Jerid's machine even as the beam blade itself ignites, chopping off its claw as you sidestep away from the beam gun on his other side.

Rossweisse, it seems, managed the same deductions as you did despite the pain in her brain: or else her responses haven't been dulled by it. She fires the Sericea's ehat wires, but unfortunately misses as Jerid reverses with a howl of anger, trying to get a clear shot on you with any of his other weapons.

Several explosions to the north shake the whole area as the Nagato launches its missile barrage.

"The Nagato's firing!" Marida reports. "Solid hits!"

"Two Gaplants are circling the river," Cynthia reports. "Holding fire."

The fight between "Ein" and Dominic seems to have taken a turn: the Titan is holding his ground with Dominic's attacks.

"This is new," Dom grunts n exertion as he pushes his machine even harder. "But I've told you, Newtype tricks aren't gonna WORK!"

Haman and Audrey seem to have recovered somewhat, and are having a conversation of some kind... you're curious, but right now you still have to deal with this brat Messa.

"Jerid!" one of the female pilots from before reports. "We've lost ever half our reinforcements to a missile barrage! Eight suits down, three are fleeing the AO!"

"What!?" Jerid shouts in alarm, turning his machine almost instinctively towards the river and exposing his side to you.

"... JACKPOT," you grin. "Rosse?"

Rossweisse dutifully hits the firing stud on one of the Sericea's remaining missiles, which detonates just behind Jerid's machine. With a startled cry, his behemoth is enveloped in a blast of energy that does a number on his thrusters. One of the binders comes free and skitters across the grounds before exploding in the woods, and Jerid's mobile suit comes to a halt.

It's impressive he's on his feet.

"I'm bored," Dominic moans over the comms as he slices another portion of the purple Titans machine away. The suit is down an arm, part of a leg, and a good portion of its head, but he's still struggling to face Dom regardless. "You're boring me. Killing you is no fun like this."

"You DARE mock me!?" Ein screams in rage. "SERA! What are you even DOING!?"

"I decided to make a choice," Sera replies quietly. "Consider this repayment for betraying us back then."

"Back then!? BACK THEN!?" the Titans pilot screams again. "I ORDER YOU TO HELP ME KILL THESE TRAITORS!"

"And I refuse," Sera replies calmly.

Jerrid rises to face you, his machine damaged and sparking but still in the fight. It looks like it's been built partly out of Gundarium alloy, which explains how it's taken such a beating.

"Pearls before swine," you mutter with a frown. "That machine was flight-capable, with at least a max acceleration of 1.9G, and you've still lost this badly. It's sad."

You can feel it as Jerrid begins to realize exactly how much better you and your team are than he is. It's not just that you're newtypes, as he probably was telling himself: it's that his skills just don't stack up.

"You chose poorly," you tell Jerrid as you slip past his machine's guard, slicing off its other arm in a single, powerful stroke.

"Do it, Rosse," you mutter, as Rossweisse unleashes the heat wires yet again. This time, the effect is profound. A secondary explosion rocks the enemy mobile suit, toppling it to the ground and blasting the hatch off. Jerrid cries out in agony as he's tossed from the cockpit, smashing into the asphalt. The impact silences him... he's alive, but unconscious as blood pools around his head and shoulders.

You have no time to wonder if you made the right call. Instead you make a break for the riverbank in preparation for the Titans counterattack.

With an almost disturbing nonchalance, Dominic puts his opponent out of his misery with a perfectly-placed rocket. The explosive hits the hole his blade had punched in the purple suit's side and goes off behind its gundarium armor. The blast instantly toasts Ein where he sits, fire and shrapnel erupting from the machine's chest as the pressure blows the cockpit hatch clean off its hinges.

But Dominic isn't done with the Serein project. It seems Audrey and Haman have figured out where the psychic weapon is located: not in Sera's machine, but in the building behind her. Dom fires a second rocket at the roof of the domed building, blasting it in and allowing Audrey and Haman to pour their remaining ecap missiles into the hole it left. Haman's precise control must have guided them down an elevator shaft or something, because the rumbling makes you think that it set off a series of explosions deep beneath the complex.

Almost immediately, the pressure in your mind is relieved, though Catrina remains unconscious. It'll take her a while to work the effects of the weapon off.

At the riverbank, you spot the two circling Gaplants Marida mentioned before. You also pick up the heat signatures of two more Gaplants and three subflight systems en route to your position: the remnants of the Titans reinforcements stationed at the airport.

There's also a strange roiling in the dark waters of the river in front of you...

If it's a large scale pitched battle with command of multiple ships, mobile suits and assorted forces? Sure, get a ton of them.
On a fast response, surgical strike force like ours? Not so much. That's what we have the Valkyrie or the Nagato for, I suppose.
>>
>>38227102
"Marida, have your team target the Titans reinforcements coming in from the north. Fire at will."

"Yes ma'am!" you hear a trio of responses.

"We've even placed our funnels in the forest to the north of us," Cynthia adds. "We'll use it as improvised fougasse."

Interesting, you think to yourself. They're growing more devious almost by the day. You were actually going to suggest that yourself.

On the other hand, Dominic is still in full murderboner-mode as he comes careening through the air above you. His bazooka nails one of the Gaplants, putting it into a spin until it crash-lands in the river.

"MISS RIRA!" the other pilot cries out as she transforms her machine to engage Dominic, Haman, and Audrey. The latter of whom is far faster on the draw, shocking the second Gaplant with her heat wires. One wire snaps free as her enemy falls, causing Audrey to swear loudly.

Both pilots are banged up in the crash, but escape to be swept downstream of the combat area.

Above you, beam cannon shots scatter the oncoming Titans machines, downing one immediately in a ball of fire. They mostly continue moving towards the ridge where the Purus are positioned.

Below you, though, comes a threat from the deep. Like a great, round stingray rising from the river: the Matabiri. You spot missile tubes around the sides, a giant beam cannon near the front, and two vents near the top that are clearly heat exhausts for an I-Field generator... which are apparently still flooded with river water.

How much longer that'll be the case is a complete unknown, but it can't be long...
>Aim for its main weapon, wait for it to fire, and hope it blows itself the fuck up.
>Aim for its I-Field generator. Without it, the thing is helpless against an onslaught of beams and missiles.

Critical hit incoming, writing in progress.
>>
>>38227747
As you bring your beam machine gun to bear, your free hand rips the eyepatch off your face and reveals your glass eye. Though it can't see the screen in front of you, it *can* see something very different.

And as you hit the firing stud at the exact right moment, you can't help but laugh.

One beam is all it takes. Your shot hits the Matabiri right in its heat exchange system as the mobile fortress begins powering up its I-Field generator, and sets off a small explosion. With the internal systems running at full power the stress on the system causes a critical overload in the power couplings between the powerful nuclear generator aboard the Matabiri and its Minovsky Crafy system.

The result is that the machine immediately begins to fall from the sky, settling powerlessly into the river just as fast as it emerged.

"Well, fuck," Dominic exclaims in a somewhat amused tone. "That kinda kills my murderboner."

"Aww, sorry if I blueballed you," you retort gently as the Mataniri's pilot dives headfirst into the river in a panic while the fortress begins taking on water. "I'll make it up to you later."

"Sounds fine to me," he replies, moving to run off the last few Titans suits that managed to survive the Puru's withering fire.

"Seriously, keep your head in the game," Haman sighs.

Dom can kill the reinforcements. We'll go deal with Sera, between Ross being a Cyber-Newtype and the Twins having been Flannigan Institute test subjects themselves, they're pretty much the best people to do so. And then we can secure the area, make sure no one tries to destroy evidence, call in support and get everything properly documented so we can give it to the media and ruin the Titans' PR even more than it already is.

You leave the Matabiri where it is for now: you can't recover it as things stand, and you don't want to spend any explosives on its wreckage just yet. Instead you quickly return to the base where you left Sera and her mobile suit.

As you pass the wreckage of the machine Jerrid was using, you notice that his body is gone. All that remains is the burning wreckage and a smear of blood.

"I was hoping you would come back," Sera greets you as she stands on the open cockpit hatch. "I wanted to thank you, Rossweisse."

"You don't owe me anything," Rosse replies. "But you are most welcome."

Sera leaps her machine up to the top of a barracks, the roof of which spiderwebs with deep cracks under your combined weight as terrified civilians and technicians stream out the front door three stories below.

On the roof itself, your mysterious Titans contact removes her helmet, revealing long, pale, slightly-purplish hair. She seems to be about your own age, or maybe a little older.

"I have this for you," she offers, holding out a data disk. "This is all of the data I could find on my onboard computer on short notice. Data on the Matabiri, the Tera S'ono, the Serein System, and the Dezpada."

>>
>>38229932
>>38229947
Huh, so we had a chance of running into other sidestory-only characters and mecha by going into areas other than Leipzig?
Other than Kilimanjaro, I mean. OCC, we know what's waiting in there. A giant karaoke box that flies.
>>
>>38230099
Maybe. It's not clear. But Leipzig was the one I wanted to get taken care of soonest. I've been dreading the Tera-S'ono for a long time, getting it out of the way early(without too much trouble, actually, this ended quite well for us) takes a load off my mind. And we got to take down the Matabiri, too. That's two Titans terror weapons for the price of one, I love it. They've still got the Hati, Psycho Gundam, and Geminus. But two out of five isn't bad.
>>
>>38230099
Dice rolls determined which info from the three places we scouted with some help (Cima for Leipzig, Apolly and Kai for Murasame Labs, and Kowen and KARABA for Augusta Labs) filtered in first. A "1" was rolled, thus Leipzig. My fault for rolling it. I wanted Murasame.

We may yet still get a chance to find out what's lurking in the other facilities though.
>>
>>38230099
>giant karaoke box that flies

But that is even more impractical than spending billions of credits on giant flying doom forts. Can you imagine the logistics of a giant karaoke box that flies? I don't even wanna.
>>
>>38229628
"Where will you go now?" you ask. "That jerk in the purple mobile suit was your handler, right? You can't go back to Titans."

"I never betrayed him," she tells you. "I chose to follow him, to fill the hole in my heart. But he betrayed my trust a second time when he tried to brainwash me and turn me into a weapon for Titans."

"And no, I can't go back to them. Not now."

"You can come with us for now," Rossweisse offers. You nod in agreement.

"We take in strays all the time," you explain. "Some move on, some stay."

Sera seems to weigh her options. It doesn't take very long, since she presumably doesn't have many.

"I will come with you."

"Can you help us locate any other data?" you press. "Anything we can use as evidence to show what Titans was doing here will help us ruin what's left of their public image and reputation."

"Your lover probably destroyed a lot of the evidence," Sera replies, shaking her head slowly. "As much as I would like to leave this infernal machine behind, would it suffice as evidence?"

"Probably," you nod. "I'd love more documentary evidence, something with a list of names."

"Possibly chains of custody, oversight responsibility, that sort of thing?" Rosse adds hopefully.

The violet-haired woman shrugs. "I may be able to help hack the laboratory databases using Ein's credentials. I kept notes on his ID and password, among other things."

"Planning for an escape?" you ask.

Sera grins back at you. "More like I kept forgetting."

"Let's go with 'planning'. Makes you sound clever," Rosse jokes.

"The pizza's out of the oven," you radio the Nagato as you clamber back into the cockpit. "Send in the Valkyrie to pick it up."

It's the I-Field Launcher. It's a gun with built-in I-Field, so you can defend yourself while aiming. Though considering that I-Field generators are significantly smaller in this timeline than in canon, the underbarrel attachment wouldn't be nearly as bulky now as it would be in the game.

>>
>>38231035
No, no, it's appropriate for it to happen afterward. When it happens beforehand, so hard it knocks you out and keeps you from enjoying the fight itself, then it's inappropriate.
>>
>>38230931
The Dezpada is totaled. You may be able to salvage some of the materials.

The Tera S'ona is in pretty good shape. Its support system is where the Serein System was located, so you don't have that. But there IS some advanced tech in there if you disassemble it. Which Sera would be all too happy to allow.

The Byarlant Custom is a twisted, burning hulk. The fire has softened the alloy, so it's not particularly useful even for salvage.

The Matabiri is too big to bring aboard toe Valkyrie. It will have to either be destroyed or quickly chopped up for materials. Its cannon, armor, and Minovsky Craft system may still be recoverable.

You will have one moderately damaged Marasai whose pilot had the good sense to surrender when he figured out who was attacking him, and two badly damaged GM Quels which are probably better off destroyed.
>>
>>38230778
So I was re-reading the thread with the imminent degradation of the Earth. Strangely enough, the episodes in G-Reco the following weeks seem to have coincided with the stuff you mentioned and addressing them. Sort of.
(Space debris and clean up, using nets, dummy balloons, and MS sized flyswatters at that; resource shortages and stockpiling them in some ass-end of space; and most recently this week, MS getting drowned.)

Confess! You have some creative input on that show, do you? It's a joke question. But the coincidences are really uncanny though.

It wasn't really luck. You laid a plan carefully and stuck to it. You contained your murderboners when you had options that would blow your element of surprise, and you were rewarded for it with an easier battle than it could have been. Future battles may not work out as smoothly, but you don't need to worry too much about losing people at this point.

Serious injuries and psychological trauma are still possible from now to the endgame, though: it's just that death is unlikely.

Fuck so a Tera S'ona, Matabiri (cannon, armor, and Minovsky Craft system) and a Marasai.
Only two MS to use huh and no MA.
>>

But, we can break up the MA and/or the captured mobile suits to grab the materials.

Then, we can use those materials to build our own mobile suits. Because the Puru's need something other than their Rick Doms.

The Tera S'ona is an intelligence and technical goldmine, and the important bits of the Matabiri are still usable thanks to that crit you bought taking it out of the fight so quickly.

With the Marasai, you were lucky to get anything out of the reinforcements with an orbital strike involved.

>cannon, armor, and Minovsky Craft system may still be recoverable.

Valkyrie spine gun? Check.
One MS constructed for Ilia, or upgrades for the others? Check.
Atmospheric capable Val Varo? Hell yeah, Check

For a price of one MA? Seems like an excellent deal to me.

Dezpada = 0.5 (armaments only, maybe)
Tera S'ona = 1
Byarlant Custom = 0 (write off)
Matabiri = 3 (all that delicious materials and tech)
Marasai = 0.75 (a little fixing up and hey, Chris gets her own MS)
GM Quel = 0 (scrap)

So that's more or less 5.25 MS resource points. Provided the crew can get to it all.

Hopefully, we can salvage the Psyco Rods and the Serine System data from both Gundams. The former, because you can never have enough Newtype weapons, and the latter, well...

Wasn't the Serine system some sort of Newtype mindcontrol system? Predecessor to the Angel Halo and all that.
Wonder if it could be used to, say, synchronize multiple pilots in a single mobile suit? Even further, I mean being Newtypes and all.

Picture somewhat tangentially related, due to how its internal system work.

Can we disassemble the Tera S'ona and than assemble it back to use?
>>
>>38231509
... which part? The mobile suit is in immaculate condition, but the mobile armor is thoroughly trashed and mostly underground.

I would kill to make our transformation system the Aquarion's. Each jet can fill the role of any other, it'll be great.

I think that anon wants to take it apart, learn it's secrets, then rebuild it...

Yes this, thank you.

I suddenly pictured the Grim Guard Enginseers opening up the Tera S'ona's chassis, exposing its insides and whispering "oh technology, tell me your secrets" to it.

Doctor Jay, Emary Ounce, Audrey April and others.

Could probably do that, yeah.

Unless there are any other questions, I'll be going to sleep. See you all next week.

Night King.

Don't let the Zakus bite.
