Without even hesitating for a second, I reach into my pocket and conceal myself with the invisibility card contained within.

That was too close.

The monster is stunned. He looks around frantically for my presence as he paces around in circles. Occasionally he'll swing at the air deafly.

I'm noticing something about that monster. Along the inside of his 'armor' are dozens of sets of spinning rings. Some of them are moving very slowly, but others are spinning so fast that they're making a buzzing noise. I wonder what the purpose of that is?

Quickly, I dart around him and run up to the principal. His face is still frozen in a look of hatred and spite. Looking at him very closely, I notice that his body is still moving. It's just moving very slowly.

On his hand, he's-

He's wearing a bracelet, one that lets him use cards. Where did he get that? I thought there were only a few of those in existence.

I could... swipe a card across this. Speed card is a given, but I could give him a couple other cards powers. It would be useful to have a battle buddy here.

Quickly reaching into my pocket, I take out two cards.

That speed card that I still need to name, and Belle. With these, he should be a little faster and able to take a little more of a hit.

I hope.

Quickly, I swipe the cards across his wrist and step back.

He starts off slow, but quickly falls back into his battle pace as he rushes the monster down. The spinning things inside rapidly pick up in speed.
Even though the principal is sped up to at least twice his normal movement, the monster seems to have sped up to match him.

Inside of him, the numerous rings that line his insides continue to spin. Though, they're moving quite a bit slower than I saw them last. It's like they-
It's like they.
It's like the speed they were spinning at transferred to the outside of his body.

With some concentration, I maintain invisibility and put Julie on.

The principal continues his fight where he left off. All of his strikes seem to reflect uselessly off the monster's exterior. Plus the monster seems to slowly be trying to speed up to outpace him by the second.
The monster lands a strike, causing the principal to slow down back to his regular speed. Inside, several of the rings start spinning so fast that they glow red.

I think the principal is finally catching on, he stops to watch the rings as they continue to spin faster and faster. The monster sees this opening and moves in for another strike.

I lunge in with Julie's sword and stab directly at the glowing rings in his arm. The rings entangle along the blade and come to a halt.
The monster looks as if he just had a heart attack.

"Yes! I didn't think that-"
Suddenly, vibrations. All through the sword, all through the ground, all through the school.
The principal has a look of horror on his face as he leaps backwards.
"What is-"

I don't get to finish. The monster's arm below the elbow explodes catastrophically.

Oof.

I'm laying on my back, staring at fluffy white clouds as they slowly trek across the horizon. The smell of burning ash is thick, and I can taste soot in my mouth. Yuck.

Slowly, I feel myself getting pulled upright.
"-itsukuma!" It's the principal. It's hard to hear him over the intense ringing in my ears "Say something!"

I open my mouth, a cough comes out instead.
"Where di-"

I stop myself when I look toward where the monster was standing. If there was a monster before, there is nothing but a smoldering crater now. If there was a card to get, I'm not sure it exists anymore.

The ringing is starting to subside, and in its place I start to hear the atmospheric tones.

First I hear the building's fire alarm going off.
Then I hear car alarms in the distance.
Lastly, I hear something slowly getting louder.

"-ister!!"

Uh oh, I think Kaori may have saw the whole thing.

Forget it, soot or not I think I need to comfort my sister.

"MASAMI- HOW D- OOF"
Now she can be covered in soot.

She tightly hugs her arms around me, until she realizes that I'm staining her school uniform and she struggles away. She tries dusting herself off, but to little avail.

"Geez." Kaori uselessly dusts at her blouse. "Watch how dirty you are before you hug someone, Masami."
But I knew.

"What happened, anyway?"
"I'm not sure, I haven't seen any monster like that before. I was watching you, then I saw the explosion."

The principal answers for Kaori, "That monster, he was storing power and energy inside himself in the form of those rings. The faster they spun, the more energy he had stored. When you blocked them, the ener-"

He stops himself, "Wait! Ryouta, Maeda, I saw them get hit earlier!"

Before he can finish his explanation, he runs off toward the student council. You and Kaori quickly follow behind him.

Thankfully, they're all okay. Slowly they start to speed up again, and gradually they begin feeling more and more normal.

"Thank god." Kaori says, hugging Maeda.
"..Kaori." Maeda is still a little groggy. "Why are you covered in ash, and why are you getting it on my clothes?"
"..don't worry about that." Kaori whispers as she pulls Maeda closer.

The principal finishes checking everyone to make sure they're fine. He breathes a sigh of relief and nearly collapses onto a chair.
"I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. That was truly a monstrosity."
"Me neither." I say. "It's almost like someone made-"

Almost like someone made...
Dad.

"Masamiii." Aiko leans her head over the table. "You look really mad for some reason. Is something wrong?"

Yes.
Yes something is very wrong.

Thanks for the thread, everyone. Sorry it didn't last longer, but I'm still working on a way to extend the thread a few hours.

I may/might end up starting the thread early like I used to (12pm EST or so) as this is about the time I get my first lunch break and can seriously write up an OP and update a time or two.

We'll see how things play out, until Saturday, thanks for staying so patient!
