You decide to begin the day like how you usually do: by working out. To that end, slip one a pair of strength-restricting manacles onto your arms and begin lifting your trusty pair of dumbbells. As you exercise, you flip on the radio and listen to the early morning news report. The broadcast is about your party’s doctor. Apparently there has been some controversy surrounding him lately, specifically about how the man is a creepy bastard who likes scaring the shit out of people.

You suppose that is true, but it’s not their fault they can’t appreciate the finest medical services in all of Japan. Besides, the tormented most likely deserved it. Usually. Your doctor has a fondness for pissing people off, so it may be hard to tell.

After thirty minutes of hard lifting, you strap on freakishly heavy weights to your legs and head outside. It’s another fine day. The sky is blue, the air is fresh and the streets are just beginning to get busy. You run a few laps around the block, your trainers screeching and thudding against the concrete. As you pass by your bro’s house, you notice that all the windows are closed shut. Looks like he’s still asleep. You retrieve bread from the fridge and begin to make toast. By bread, you mean half a dozen slices. By slices, you mean ones the sizes of plates. Yes, you are certainly a big eater, but not as much as the party’s big burly tank and hacker man. You remember trying to score the ton of exotic Underworld meat when the party was deciding how to divvy up the spoils of war, but that guy snatched the key to the meat from under everyone’s noses. Then he ran away laughing his ass off. For some reason, he kept going on and on about how the protein would do good for his legs.

Anyway. You spread honey, strawberry jam and peanut butter onto the slabs of bread, washing them down with glasses of milk. It is delicious, and satisfying. But most shouldn’t try this at home, unless one possesses a stomach the size of a swimming pool. When you are just about to begin the last slab, your mother calls you over.

“Honey, isn’t it about time you went to school?”

You raise an eyebrow and look at the clock. Oh shit, she’s right. If you don’t get moving this instant, you’ll be late to school. Unless you enhance your legs to superhuman speeds, but the last time you tried running and leaping your way to a destination, you accidentally broke some poor sap’s roof. Even heroes have to obey the law.

Ultimately, you decide to compromise.

Five minutes later, you are running to school with a piece of toast in your mouth. This is a thing that is actually happening. All the anime you’ve watched up to this may must’ve been preparing you for this. Your conclusion of the experience? It is magnificent.

Like some malicious head-mounted vacuum cleaner, you swallow every last scrap and bit of the bread into your mouth. Just in time too—you’ve reached your bro’s house. However, something is different this time around. Thankfully, the door isn’t unlocked today, but what’s lurking outside the front gate demands further attention.

“Sachiko.” You begin carefully. “I’m not kidding. Last night, Ayase moved into bro’s house. She had a letter of permission from the government and everything.”

More silence. This time Sachiko has no comeback. You swear you can hear the faint sound of glass breaking.

Then she lowers her head. You think she’s about to blush and start crying. She is not. Instead, a dark chuckle rises from her throat, and you see that her eyes have suddenly become a lot more hollow.

“Fufu. Fufufufu. So that’s how it is, eh? Ayase, you sneaky cat…to think that you had planned this far ahead. Truly, you are our Assassin. No matter, you shall not beat Sachiko Koshimizu. I will not let you get the last laugh…” With dark glee, she whips out her phone and begins rapidly tapping away.

There is much nodding of heads. Ayase’s eyes turn deadly, and a trench knife is forms in her hands. She points it at her opponents. “Oh, don’t you all look at me like that! The argument commences, and the five girls are fully immersed in it. They are so absorbed, that they do not notice their surroundings. You quietly sneak up to the front door, enter the house and slam the door shut. Then you lock it. That should buy you a few precious seconds of time. You decide to review the cases of the five girls. In order to carry out a battle, one must know their enemy. Well, your friends aren’t your enemies. Still, there’s no telling what they might say, or do, when you bring up the concept of sharing.

First up, Hatoko Kushikawa, the Elemental Mage. If you and your bro were the first two members of the party, then she was the third. Your childhood friend, sweet and kind. Originally, the two of you rejected her from joining the quest, afraid that she might get hurt. She persisted, and after seeing her magic prowess, both of you shrugged your shoulders and let her come along for the ride. Out of all the harem members, she had known your bro the longest, and was also the most gentle of them all. Convincing her to share your bro would probably be easy. You got the impression that no matter where he went, Hatoko would stick by his side. Despite that, complications always happened…

Secondly, Kurumi Tokisaki, the Time-manipulating Gunslinger. The eighth member to join, and the second-last of the harem members. She had once been a powerful foe, working under Azazel as the only human lieutenant. After a series of nasty battles of varying success, she gained much respect for your bro. When Kurumi fell to the earth following the last encounter, she decided that your bro’s goals would be much more reachable than her own. Thus, Kurumi joined the crew, and proceeded to spend half her time teasing your bro in various sexual ways. Though she could get angry at harem shenanigans, she was never THAT furious, and seemed to take life the way she always did: with grace and style. She would be the second-easiest to convince.

An Infinite Stratos Pilot, Laura had no magic at all, but never let that little detail stop her from becoming the strongest Infinite Stratos user in the world. There were rumors that she had already surpassed Chifuyu Orimura, but that was getting off topic. She had been ordered to join your party by her superiors. It was hard going with her at first, but over time the ice surrounding her heart defrosted. You knew Laura to be calm, stoic and cold. Unless you used logic, it was hard to make her back down from her decisions. No, talking her down would not be an easy task.

Fourthly, Sachiko Koshimizu, the cute and arrogant ojou-sama. She had travelled with the group for quite some time, being the fourth member to join. Funny thing—she had appeared to your little group, negotiating the three of you to escort her towards her home. The things got a hell lot complicated, and you found yourself fighting a horde of giant spider while Sachiko floated at the back singing healing songs. After that, she stuck to the party like superglue and refused to come off, no matter how hard her parents tried to persuade her. You suspected that part of the reason she joined was because she had been bored with her current life, but towards the end she wised up and became more serious. With her charisma, convincing her would no doubt prove to be an arduous task. Then again, you could play off her massive ego…

Lastly, Ayase Aragaki. Your bro’s cousin, and the tenth member to join. There wasn’t much to be said about her. Ayase could appear all sweet and friendly and lots of other nice words from the dictionary, but there was a reason she was feared as the greatest youngest assassin. One time, a succubus kidnapped your bro and you and Ayase went to rescue him. He could’ve broken out himself, but it was the thought that counted. Said succubus then announced her intentions to make your bro a man, as it were. The result of that? Barely anything remained, except a few parts that couldn’t fill up a jam jar.

Did you mention that Ayase had a maniacal smile throughout the entire stabbing, which had consisted of a thousand knives? Because she had. And whenever your bro talked to other girls…

She would definitely be the hardest to talk down.
