It's been twelve minutes since you got shoved onto the jeep. Your hands, bound together by rusted cuffs, feel dry. There's still the muck from when you got caught, and the scrapes won't be fading away any time soon, but they're dry. You're not alone, in the back of the jeep; it's been packed full of similar men, all bound at their hands and feet and looking just as grimy as you do. As the jeep rumbles along the bumpy road, you can hear the warbling of some foreign anthem from the radio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02nLHpSLTxo

Damned gravvers. Can't even get any decent voider tunes, down here.

One of the men who captured you, a military type dressed in red fatigues, starts standing up. He hollers in the same foreign language as the one in the radio, walking toward each person while holding up a portable tablet to their face. Those who can understand seem to be pressing their right index finger in the middle of the screen, which makes the holo glow blue. Probably some ID system, in case they get any runners. Those who can't understand the man get a punch in the gut, for their troubles, and their left hand is forced onto the pad. The holoscreen emits a red glow, from that.

The man is approaching you, now. "TORK AMUL! ORBIK AZ GRYTI!" He screams, before holding the tablet to your face.

>Comply. Press your right index finger onto the middle of the tablet.
>'Comply'. Press your left hand against the middle of the tablet.
>Refuse. Don't even give him a response, and just shove the damn thing out of your face.
>Look around. Hell, one of these gravvers has to know what this guy's saying.

I'll just do first to three, or whichever one has the most votes in about ten minutes. My writing is slow, so please pardon me for the glacial pace of my first quest.

>>Comply. Press your right index finger onto the middle of the tablet.
We're caught and being forcibly conscripted, pressing the other hand probably holds fuck all legal relevance in regards to getting outa here, in any case legality hardly matters at this point, we're not getting out of this. It seems an advantage to press the right though. Also liking where this quest is starting.

Y'know what? Fuck this mudhumper. You eye him for a few moments, letting the man scream in your face for a few moments while shoving the tablet on your chest. Just as he's about to hit you, however, you launch yourself up, planting your head against his nose! To the delight of your fellow prisoners, the big man stumbles back for a moment, and they laugh and cheer at your slick move.

The laughter ends once he reaches into his pocket. Whipping out a small, cylindrical device, the guard jams his thumb on the little button on top.

A searing pain shoots through your wrists and ankles. It courses through your body, electrifying even the grubby prisoner's garb that you had been forced into. One second, two seconds, three seconds - ten ticks of your life were spent in around a hell of a lot of volts of energy. To your credit, at least you were able to grit your teeth and handle it all.

The pain ends. Your world is swallowed by darkness. The last thing you see before you black out completely is the blinking red glow of the tablet...

---

You awaken to the sounds of whirring gears, the smell of oil and fuel, the sights of smog and sparks. A small woman, dressed in the same red fatigues as your guards, is standing above you. Looks like they hauled you out of the truck, when that happened.

"Hooooo-eee! You sure did a number on the captain, there, Slick! I haven't seen the ol' bull that angry since the Tyran Revolt!" The woman says, extending a hand as you get up. She can speak Uni-Com, at least. You can get some information out of her.

>Response?
>1. Positive response. Let's be nice to this woman, at least.
>2. Negative response. What makes you think I can trust a gravver, after that shit?

"...thanks." In taking her hand, you notice that the cuffs are still on. "You're the first person I've heard speaking Uni-Com, on dustball. What the hell's going on?" You ask.

The girl hoists you up on your feet. She's surprisingly strong, for how small she is. It's even more surprising when, upon getting up, she stands in front of you. She's half your height! "Ah'm guessin' yer a fresh catch t' the planet, what with yer fancy duds still lookin' clean as a whistle. Well, lemme just sum it up for ya. Hold on, ah got th' brochure here somewhere..." She pats herself down, rifling through oil-stained pocket after oil-stained pocket before finding what she was looking for - a folded piece of worn paper. Fucking hell, these people were THAT far backwater?

"Welcome t' Tyhra! You, or someone related t' you, have committed a hein- hein - a bad crime on th' Holy Empire o' Skiev! Fer repa - repara - t' repay the Great King an' all his subjects fer yer troubles, th' King's Hand has captured yer sorry hide and placed it in their very own Gauntlet - a Colliseum where pris'ners hafta kill or be killed t' gain their freedom! On yer way here, y'got assigned to a certain pack - green pack fer the Favored Ones, or the red pack fer the dirty rats. You'll be assigned a wanzer - an armored suit - and shall be jetti - je - fuckin' hell, this wordy little shit! They're gonna drop you down on the ground from up high."

The auburn-haired woman tucks her slip of paper away before looking up at you. "You musta really pissed him off, 'cuz he ain't even givin' you a big list o' which suit ta use. You got three choices, kid." Pointing her finger to the left, she gestures to three tarped figures.

The figure to the left seems small, light. You could probably move around very quickly, with that thing.
The middle figure seems to be draped improperly - you can see a few large cylinders poking out, here and there. Guns, maybe?
The figure to the right doesn't seem much bigger, but the feet that poke out look to be plated.

Incidentally, I'm more than happy that eight people actually like this. I don't care if eight is a low number to some - you guys are giving me a shot, and I appreciate your asses.

>>39020146
"Do me a favor," You say, pinching the bridge of your nose, "and tell that jackass to say 'please'. I'll take the speed wanzer."

Your companion let out a loud howl of a laugh, slapping her knee. "Oh, yer a feisty one, ain'tcha? Ah'mma have a good time with you, ah bet! Th'name's Myl. Ah'm yer tune-girl, and ah'll be fixin' yer shit, if'n ya live through the first round." She ushers you toward the tarp-covered figure to the left. While you two walk, she gives you a small tour of your immediate surroundings.

It seems that you were in a warehouse, of sorts. All around you, red suits of all shapes and sizes scurry around, hauling parts or dragging prisoners. It was a very large warehouse, holding wanzers of different shapes and sizes for each participant in Skiev's games. Closer inspection would reveal that the warehouse was split between four teams - red, green, yellow, blue. Each team had its own space to test out the machines or just lounge about.

Before you had any more time to inspect the place, you had reached your tarp. "Oban! Oban!" Myl yelled out.

One look at the mech made you wish she hadn't.

>>39020503
What was supposed to be a wanzer looked more like a bunch of steel plates bashed together by sheer determination. Was that a roll cage? And what the hell were all those jagged batteries sticking out of the - fuck off, that can't be the power unit! "Solar spots, this can't be a fucking wanzer. I could shit out something better than this." You grumble.

"Awright - first off? Fuck you. Second off, that's yer baby. It's got a biped movin' unit, made by yours truly, and yer grapplers are decked out with th' latest in machine-gunnin' technology. Go on and climb aboard, Slick!" Myl slaps you on the posterior - hard - and directs you to a makeshift ladder that leads to the cockpit.

You climb aboard. The inside of the cockpit's a tight fit, made for someone a lot smaller than you. With your knees bumping into the dashboard controls - no, these aren't controls. It looks like someone just hammered a control panel onto the dashboard and hoped it would work.

Damn it.

>Roll for Unit Operation!

Don't worry - it won't always be a game of chance. Regardless of our main character's nebulous past, this is just a really shit-tier mech.

Should I take a few moments to describe the rolling system? It's really simple - it's just a barebones d20 thingamajig. Highest roll out of 3 wins, but I'm a nice guy - 20s, rolled at any point before I type 'writing', can combo break a 1 rolled.

There will be bonuses and setbacks that will come into play soonish, but, for now, don't worry about it too much.

As much as you want to rag on the scrap heap, you have to hand it to Myl - at least she can build something that isn't confusing. You flick a few switches experimentally, getting a feel for this tight cockpit before clicking the ignition switch (lovingly labeled 'PRESS THIS THING'.)

The mech rumbles, shakes, and quivers! A rattling can be heard from behind you! It sounds like >>39020689 bolts being shaken in a blender! You start to panic, pressing at the dashboard in a wild manner! No effect - it's still rattling! DAMN IT!

Out of frustration, you punch the dashboard, the desperation of >>39020738 brain cells accumulated in one hit. Just as quickly as the rattling began, it stopped. The machine begins to whir to life like a normal wanzer, for once, and you breathe a sigh of relief. It starts to unfold itself, extending the arms and legs as one unit. To your surprise, this also extends the cockpit to a certain degree - you've got a lot more room to stretch your legs, now, at least.

A screen flicks down from above you, narrowly missing your head.

"Holy shit, Hotshot, ya only up an' scared half th' damn crew! Ya almost blew us t' smithereens!"

You look at the controls, for a moment. Sure, it's set up like an industry-standard scout mech, but the calibration's all wrong. All the buttons are messed around. You basically have to struggle against the motion levers just to get this thing to take a single step! "Yeah, I'm gonna need more than a test drive, for this pile of gravver scrap. Get me a sharpie and a mallet."

"Huh? What for?"

"I need to make a few adjustments."

-----

The mallet is resting on your lap, now. It's more or less a big scrap ball attached to a stick, but it might as well be your saving grace, right now. After writing the words, 'TO DIE!' on the ignition switch's label, you take a look at what's in front of you.

Mal had set up a basic training course, consisting of a few oil barrels that were set up in a straight line. Ahead of the barrels laid a few flat sheets of metal that were propped up. "Alrighty, slick. What'cher gonna wanna do is unlock the anchors on yer feet, there, then you just move with the le - "

After that, all ya need ta do is push the lever for'ard and do yer thang. Fer th' guns, it's those two triggers on that thar aimin' stick in front o' ya." Myl chirps, pointing down on the screen.

The movement was more than easy - it was simple. Once you had removed the anchors weighing you down, your training kicked in. Left pedal. Right pedal. Left pedal. Right pedal. You wove between barrels with surprising quickness, stomping up a storm of dust with every footfall. "I'll hand it to you, Myl - this thing looks like a piece of shit, but it moves like industry standard." You say.

>>39021599
Again, all too easy. Even without AI assistance, you've got enough training to hit a still target. Pulling on the arm controls -

- your fingers, used to safety controls to avoid this sort of thing, slip on the triggers. The guns buck and kick without warning, bursting hot lead into the sheets, the area around the sheets, and a few of the other mechs. Myl is screaming at you to do something, but, in your haste to correct yourself, you bash your head on her display screen. It falls down onto your hands, forcing another few seconds of fire and shooting brand new holes into other mechs.

"...fuck." You grunt. First, the anchors, then the lack of AI assistance, and there isn't even a trigger-guard to avoid random misfires! And it didn't even shut Myl up.
"WHAT IN THE BLUE BLAZES WAS THAT, SLICK!? AH TOLD YA T'FIRE ON THE DAMN SHEETS, NOT TH' OTHER MECHS!" She howled.

Turning your mech around, you open the cockpit's hatch and stick your head out. "Build your damn mech better, woman!" You grab the monitor and chuck it toward Myl, who ducks her head to dodge. She retaliates by slinging a few more words at you. "You broke the monitor!? That's yer only Heads Up Display! That'll take a while t'fix, and ya don't got time for it! Ah can try t' jury rig it before yer match, or y'can hop into another mech real quick! Damn it all..."

Double shit.

>Go into another mech? If so, which mech? Power and Defense are left.
>Give Myl a shot? If she could make this pile of bolts industry standard...

I do agree with that other anon that the futafaggotry tends to really fuck up threads for about half of the things run time and it gets frustrating because it happens 9/10 and the reasoning is pretty much always the same, the problem is that in most settings it would be out of place or something that people would -really- hate in-game. A futa in medieval times? Probably executed if it was made public knowledge.

Also, that statement about it being packed full of similar men just meant that there were people that were also in handcuffs and leg-cuffs, in the jeep. The MC's gender is still up in the air.

>>39021507
I want to be a nice guy on this, but I really don't want the focus to be on who the character wants to bang. I'd rather just keep it male/female, since there will be loyalty things more than relationship/waifushit , but if it's that important to people, I'll think about it.

That is fair, it tends to be that way, but that is because the futafags just want what they want, and the non-futafags have to deal with it every single time, being told no all the time isn't as frustrating as saying no all the time, ya dig? If there was valid discussion a lot of good could come of it and there wouldn't be threads with 50 people shitposting while a handful are actually playing.

>I want to be a nice guy on this, but I really don't want the focus to be on who the character wants to bang.
Let me be entirely straight with you here, even if the character is a futa they will likely be entirely played the same as a female and there will be little difference aside from an awkwardness around other men who could be interested in them regardless, since you're not comfortable with it, I don't have a place to force it upon you.

On top of this, players likely only devolve into "who the character wants to bang" if the characters overshadow the plot in quality which happens regardless of which gender they are.

Prematurely voting on our mech to be black and gold
>>
>>39022033
>I'm hoping to keep the balance equal, in terms of characters and plot.
It's not really a balance I'm talking about. It's simply that if players enjoy the characters more than the plotline or action, they will naturally gravitate towards them further. The more they're around them, the more they get attached, the more attached they are, the more they wish to have sex with them.

This is generally the line of thought I've observed.
>>
>>39022051
Gold seems a bit too flashy to me, maybe gold finish or trim but too much shiny is a bit tacky.

I'd go for a wicked dark grey and some red (fancy trim optional)

So we're some kind of pseudo-criminal and we've got a scrapheap mech without any kind of apparent weapon-locking function. What's keeping us from mowing down the people who're basically making us fight until we die?

I mean, it's probably a terrible idea, but accidents happen.
>>
>>39021969
Never said anything about it being bad, just that if you find writing one kind of character or the other easier, it's not more important for us to have total control over everything than it is that you feel like you can get keep up solid characterization.

That, and voting on things retrospect means we've either gotta go back over our previous actions and attitudes and reconcile them with what have then become black-and-white votes (gender/backstory/disposition/etc.) or write some amount of the previous stuff off as contradictory.

I've got a personal aversion to directly-transcribed heavy accents, but I'm not gonna get hard on you over something like that.

"Can't you just switch out the HUDs from one of the other mechs?" You ask. Ducking back in, you're familiar enough with the controls to deactivate the guns, re-lock the anchors, and turn off the machine. It folds up once again, scrunching you into that ever-so-uncomfortable ball that you were at the beginning of this piloting exercise.

Myl runs toward the mech, torn HUD in hand. upon closer inspection, you can see that it's like the tablet that the guard was passing onto you. "It's all internal, Sparky. Th' auto-systems that yer wanzer runs on work all on th' insides o this here tablet. Now get yer lanky ass outta mah baby so I can patch her up - ya did a number on her.

You hop out of the wanzer, and back onto dry land. You can hear Myl working her magic in there, whirring and buzzing away to fix the shit that she should have fixed all along. All you can hope for is that she doesn't muck it up and make the thing jut into your face...

While Myl works, alarm klaxons begin to blare. The prisoners that weren't in their wanzers were forced on by big men, and everyone seemed to be following the flashing lights. Myl hops out of the cockpit and slaps your arm. "All done, Eagle Eyes! Gitcher ass into Fyanna here and go follow th' other wanzers!" She said cheerfully, running back to the control station.

The monitor seems to be fitted in just like it was before, and it almost hits your head when it flaps out. Again. This time, there was no grease-slicked, heavy-accented woman to greet you. Instead, there was a basic top-down view of the whole warehouse, with little blips that displayed the other mechs that were moving. The dot in the middle must be you - it's got a vision cone and everything.

You get in line and begin filing out of the warehouse, led by the lights to an open heliport just outside. There were guards in their own wanzer suits - better looking wanzer suits, you notice - that ensure the safety of the transport. Each team seems to have their own matching color for transport vehicle. You see that your line is being led to the red one.

As you file in, Myl's face pops up once more. It's a small picture-in-picture, hovering at the very top-left of the screen. "Alright, so. They're loadin' ya up now. Got any questions for me, before ya go in there?"

"Battlefield specs and tips. If you're gonna be my handler for whatever's going on, then let's do it industry standard."

"You got it, Hotshot. So..." Myl pulls up a few maps on your HUD while you're being loaded up. Basically, the battlefield is going to be a ruined city, located a few miles away from the warehouse. It's an urban jungle locale, meaning there are tall buildings and other things to take cover behind. The other team's mechs are going to be better than yours, mostly because the red team's cursed to be the team that gets all the rejects and voiders.

Each team must work together to have the most remaining wanzers standing by the end of the round. Once you're on the ground, you'll be able to talk to your pack members, but it's deactivated right now so that you don't get any funny ideas. Killing of other pilots is allowed, and if you can somehow spare their wanzer, you'll be rewarded. Beyond that, just go nuts.

"As fer advice...well, there's a few things ya gotta watch out for. Th' yellow team's got the best mechs, and it's got pilots that served in Tyhra's army. They got detained fer misconduct or somethin' like that. Try t' avoid them, if'n ya can. Green team's yer best bet. Fight them first - they're not much better'n our mechs. As fer blue pack, they're th' civvies and rich folk what got arrested 'cuz of the Revolt. They usually don't know how t'pilot shit, but the Great King likes ta put a sleeper in that crew. Anyway, I'll be givin' ya some back up, so don't worry about it none!"

The helicopter begins to fly off with a heavy lurch; your wanzer doesn't seem to have shock absorbents, and you get stirred up in your cockpit before settling down.

You have enough time to settle down for a few minutes. If the speed of the heli is any indication, you've got about five to ten before you're pushed out. Looking at the screen, you notice that there's a few buttons. You could probably mess around with that and get a better view of the battle map. There's always prayer, last minute wanzer checks, and hoping to the Gods that the rest of your team isn't a bunch of mudfuckers.

>Inspect the battle map, get a better lay of the land.
>Wanzer checks! Maybe this time, you'll get a better feel for how to move the arms.

If you're gonna be in this tiny junker, you might as well get accustomed to it. You spend a few moments checking everything over, making sure that the arms and the legs work as intended. While you mess around with things, you realize that the controls are just jumbled around. Hell, you could probably do the re-calibrations before you have to make the jump. It's not even a problem of wiring - all you have to do is enter in new commands for moving this and that. Since it's all done in the tablet, you could just...

---

With a few minutes of work, you're able to reconfigure things to work for you, instead of against you. The leg pedals now move much better, the anchor works less like an anchor and more like a handbrake, and the guns swivel right to where you want them to. You're even able to figure out where the radio is on this thing, even if it doesn't work!

"Get ready, Slick! You're comin' in hot! Twenny ta wanzerfall!" Myl yells. You get into position, looking out toward the ruined city. From where you're standing, it looks like there's a few good positions...

>Go for the high ground! If you get on top of the building, your HUD might be able to pick up units that are trying to hide.
>Go for the low craters! You won't get spotted as easily if you're already hiding.
>Go toward the enemies! Fuck strategy; you can see the yellow team right there!

The other wanzers in the plane seem to be looking at the high buildings, since they're close, but you draw their attention to the low crater. If only those radios would work...ah, well, they get the idea, most likely.

Ten. Nine. Eight. You set the anchors to 'off', then take a look. The cockpit has a clear view of the city outside, without any sort of computer clutter save for the ones on the HUD. That's good, at least. You'll get to see the bullet when it comes for you. Seven, Six, Five. From the corner of your eye, you can see the other planes hovering in different spots across the map. The yellow team really was favored, in this match, since they had a lot of high buildings to hide behind. Most of their buildings were even intact, damn it.

Four, Three, Two. Your palms are sweaty. Your knees feel weak; your arms feel heavy. This is do or die. Live or die. Don't fuck this up. "Good luck!" Myl cheers.

A trumpet rings in the distance. The plane swings forward, you're all jettisoned out!

Mid-fall, two of the mechs begin to dive expertly toward the crater that you pointed. Your descent is a textbook wanzerfall, with the arms folded in and the legs bracing for impact. This one was going to be - wait, what the hell were those two other mechs doing -

You and the two prepared wanzers land in a triangle in the middle of the crater. Your cockpit shakes some more, jarring you and banging your knees against the dashboard, but you are otherwise good to go. Those that landed properly beside you seem to also be doing alright. The last two mechs...not so much. They slammed back- and front-first into the crater, and you can hear the sickening crunch of metal bending the wrong way.

Damn it. They're not blown up, at least, but those mechs probably won't be looking all too good. Your radio communications flicker to life, buzzing with the soft hiss of static. You press on your outgoing button.

"Hell of a way to die. Check if there's anything left of them. I'll be scouting the perimeter." You order. One of the pilots breaks your expectations and responds with a quick and sharp "Roger!", while the other one seems to just stand there. Eventually, he, too, joins in with a "Roger!". Lucky - those two seemed to be able to speak Uni-Com, at least.

As you start hopping out of the crater, you can see that the two mechs that crash-landed are still operational. Their pilots don't seem to respond when you make any hails to them, but two working wanzers are better than nothing. You order the men to bunker down and get into defensive positions while you wait.

Coming up over the ridge of the crater...

I liked it. With an ending song like that are we gonna do wanzer posing sometime hahahaha. Be careful with the name and gender thing thing. So much shitposting and /D/ comes out that its not funny. And someone is always unhappy, it seems best to just power through that part, or list certain options right away in a vote or take inspiration from several requests and decide yourself. Honestly you should just decide the gender yourself and do a vote for the name. Whatever floats your boat though, take all this with a piece of salt. Again excellent start to a quest. The dice is pretty fair, I would suggest a get out of OH SHIT free card in some form (do an awesome task and get a reroll down the line, or have a skill that prevents critfails for a certain ability/talent ex:shooting). Again liked the pacing, doing good. Stay classy.

Just another reminder, be careful with character gen. Some serious trolling happens with quests starting up. So far this looks pretty nice, keep it up. Thanks for running.
>>
>>39023896
Twitter's set up. I'll run it a little earlier tomorrow. I already took notes from today, and you guys got two good skills.

The spacer thing doesn't really do much, in terms of game mechanics. You'll know more about space if we get to it, at least. I think I might copy the Mercenary Idol Quest and do HEAT LEVELS or something.

The character's gender will have little effect with piloting. Since most of this game involves piloting, and loyalty involves being in the wanzer...well, in any case, it won't be too big of a deal. I just wish I was a good enough writer to pull in more people.

Single combat is going to be a mixture of commands and rolls, as is group combat. Single combat will focus more on attacking and defending (or running, as is the case with some encounters), while group combat involves tactics and ordering your team.

Depending on how sensible your order sounds to the rest of the crew, and depending on how well they roll for their own executions, you can pull off some really amazing stuff. I don't hide any rolls I make, since you guys should see how your team does.

Still don't get how players getting to tick this box themselves outweighs all of the associated shitstirring on both sides of the spectrum not to mention people like >>39022647 that were obviously just sticking around in hopes of fucking with it. Shit's just one more thing keeping us from getting back to blowing up other peoples' robots with our robots, and I'd still rather you skip the whole tug-of-war and just have it be over and done with.

My only real gripe story-wise is that there's a lot of background plot stuff that's being glossed over, where I'd have hoped the MC would've at least fleshed things out slightly in internal monologue.

We don't need the whole history textbook on this whole uprising thing right up front or anything, but a couple bits of context when they're appropriate so we can start to get a handle on things would be nice.
>>
>>39024109
Patience. When I'm good and settled in (read : when I get my shit together and stop being so scared of letting even one of you down), I'll give you guys some background, some internal monogaboobing, shit like that.

...okay, I'll always be scared of making you guys mad / sad, so I'll just stick to the time limit of 'within three threads'.
>>
>>39024129
>scared of letting even one of you down
gayyyyyyyyy

It's cool.
>>
>>39024159
Alright, closing up shop, now. I'd ask for help with sup/tg/ or archive.moe, but I'll figure it out. Eventually.
>>
>>39024129
>when I get my shit together and stop being so scared of letting even one of you down
Oh, you'll eventually piss someone off. Most quests have some form of shitstorm or another eventually.

It's all about how you surf said shitstorm.
>>
>>39024193
It's pretty easy to do actually.
Just click archive thread and then post the thread number and description.

Oh also; good thread. Love me some Front Mission. Damn shame Square bailed on the series more or less.
>>
>>39024193
.moe archives threads automatically; don't gotta do shit.

sup/tg/ you go to the archive page, then on the left press the button under "add thread" and then scroll to the bottom and enter all the shit it says.

>>39024232
Already done. Thanks for taking a look!

I've always wanted to look at your quests, Wulin, but I'm scared that my lack of Romance of the Three Kingdoms knowledge will make everything shit. I've watched the 2010 TV series, but I have yet to crack the book open...

Remember to use the Collective Game tag if you suptg it, some people get awful mad about quests leaking.

You gotta stop using your trip when out of your quest, dude.
>>
>>39024255
This quest looks intresting, I rarely see front mission materials.
When do you plan to run your next thread?
>>
I don't know anything about this quest or the thing it's based on, I'm just here to say that out of all the "It's totally not a mech, guys" names I've seen so far, "Wanzer" is probably the worst. Although "Knightmare Frame" is also fucking terrible.
>>
>>39026244
Wanzer was used in the actual video game
>>
Oh, the thread's still up? Well, good morning, everyone.

>>39025924
I'm going to be running the next thread in around ten hours.

>>39026244
Wanzer is a term used in the Front Mission series. It's a combination of wanderpanzer, which is translated into 'walking tank' from German to English. I try to switch between the two words equally, since I do want this to be a mech quest.
>>
>>39026483
So will we get to know what our MC and the other surviving red team wanzers look like? I mean the descriptions we got for now are fine, but on the off-chance some drawfriend drops by, I think it would help immensely.
>>
>>39027065
If a draw friend graced a thread I made...holy fuck, I think I'd cry tears of joy. I'm just happy that the people who came to the thread like my thread!

And I'll make descriptions if they come up, but, in terms of the story, the looks of the people aren't all too important, as of yet. Myl's these only one the MC's taken a good look at, and he/she didn't care to really examine her.
>>
>>39027176
Drawable stuff should probably wait until we stop riding piles of scrap.
>>
>>39027206
>scrap
I dunno anon, fightin' an' winnin' in barely-working kit sounds pretty orky to me.

....shieeet, we're red and in the fast wanzer, we also Char now.
>>
>>39027257
Personally, I'm all for sticking with the junker mech. You guys will definitely have a chance to build, replace, and/or add stuff, though. This thread earned you guys a few traits that'll help with making the mech a little better, in regards to some stats.
>>
>>39026244
>wanzers (from the German word "wanderpanzer"; wander for "walking, and panzer for "armor"), are widely deployed in battles, serving as a vital component of militaries' combined arms approach. In the series, wanzers were shown to often work alongside tanks, helicopters, fighter jets and other real world weapons. Two types of these mechas exist. Civilian-grade machines are known as "wanderwagens", and have a WAW designation. Wanzers, on the other hand, are military-grade machines with a WAP designation.
uh, it IS a mech. and early on in the game, if you're not careful, you can be beaten by a tank 1v1.
>>
>>39027287
>You guys will definitely have a chance to build, replace, and/or add stuff, though.
I remember in the first game, I grinded the hell out of the arena by doing this:

>level Royd(MC) in short(guns!) and ride a relatively shitty mech
>grind at the arena. earn money and keep outfitting companions with the best gear for their jobs, such as:

>ranged
>missiles on both shoulders
>preferably bazooka/sniper on one hand
>body with most energy provided, arms with accuracy, legs with mobility
their main task is to quickly level up their ranged skill to learn targeting, and then surgically removing arms off the enemy's ranged fighters. after that, fire support.
although except for mid game, you can't one-shot enemy wanzers by focus-firing body parts(health barely left)

>multi-roll(preferably the first 3 characters including MC)
>shield on left shoulder, missle on right
>burst fire rifle on left hand, ranged weapon on right hand
>balanced body/body with a bit more energy, arms with armor/accuracy, legs with armor/mobility
this way they can rip apart arms with Duel-Speed-Switch attacks with rapid fire rifles and disarm them. since most enemies prefer guns over punches, and stronger over weaker weapon(if multishot weapons total damage is higher than a single shot weapon, they will go for the rapid fire regardless of accuracy), you will know which limb to take off first.
when in a tough spot, the shield on your shoulder will give you buffer health when defending whenever you get shot. also useful for deflecting enemy ranged fire at the start of the fight.
you should only make experienced guys like this.

>short range/CQC
>both shoulders have shields
>duel guns or dual batons/punches(whichever is stronger)
>tanky parts all around
these guys are your tanks. with their dual shields they can either block ranged fire while fighting, or tank indefinitley while my 5 ranged units f them up. duel guns can be REALLY nasty if you train them, while fists trigger-

Calm down, there, folks. I won't be pulling too much from the game. You do start off weak, and it'll be as reliant on strategy as it is in Front Mission. This quest is only somewhat based on elements from AT VOTOMS and Front Mission, so I won't be making it all too nitty-gritty on details unless all of the participants want that.
>>
>>39028657
-rely entirely on RNG with their hits, skill triggering, and which parts they hit. generally usless in tactical sence, but boy do they hurt.

after all my alliese are fitted, I finally refit the MC. and then we supply on some flash, chaff, and smokes.

smokes, chaff and flashes goes on short rangers and multirole on a ratio of 1:2:1.
chaff and flash goes on ranged on a ratio of 3:1.
chaff up each other before entering the fight.
flash anyone that looks like that can dish out pain a lot. rip their limbs off first with guide/duel.

chaff and-

I'm all for going over things like that, but then there's the business of going over spreadsheets and making stats. As a lot of anons have told me, that's a big fuck-off point in a quest. It's already bad enough that I don't want to make waifufag quest the nth...
>>
>>39028869
I'm curious, bu you don't have to go over this if you want.
how does our equipment fare? I mean, we know we're a speed fighter(with handbrakes)with machineguns, but that's just it?
And how will we handle upgrades later?
What's our source of income?
>>
>>39028989
For now, all you know is that your guns do work. They were able to do some damage to the other mechs in the warehouse. It's actually a wonder that you weren't punished for it, though it's more than likely due to the fact that the guards don't really care about their prisoners/gladiators.

Pay hasn't been talked about yet. Upgrades will be dealt with after you survive your first fight...or win it, if you guys have the balls.

Anyway, your brothers will get hit, and your brothers will get pinned, here, but as long as you show no fear, the Emprah will protect you.

And there's my monthly quota for 40k references checked off. I'll be here all week!

Silly QM, you already gave us a waifu.

MC is riding her already
>>

I agree with this.
>>
>>39029309
GOD DAMN IT EVERY FUCKING TIME AN ANON SAYS SOMETHING LIKE THIS I REGRET NOT ADDING A THING INTO THE QUEST.

At this juncture, I'm conflicted - am I happy that I'm making the MC's first mech a junker without an AI to waifu, or am I sad?

I'm honestly just relieved that no one's tried to waifu Myl. That's a surprise to me, more than anything.
>>
>>39029368
You don't need an AI.
There are people being attatched to stuff.
hell, look at dwarf fortress! Even in games these things can happen!

you got a twitter or a schedule for when your running?
>>
>>39029595
My twitter's buried in this thread, somewhere, but I'll post it again.

https://twitter.com/

Next quest should be in five hours, but beyond that, no regular schedule planned just yet. I've got a shit ton of free time due to job layoffs and extreme depression, so I'd be more than happy to run this quest a couple of times a week.

Huh?
>>
>>39029847
Fine, I'll sum it up.

Abloobloobloo bitch knows how to market
Abloobloobloo if a MAN made it the shitty fanfic would have been called a male power fantasy or misandry or some shit
Abloobloobloo it's a 'liberation from inhibitions' since a woman made it, instead of 'some bitch slutting it up'

But that's for /pol/ or /v/. I should stop shitting up the thread.
>>
>>39029876
Uh.
o...okay.
