As your Aunt consoles the girl who is likely Flash Thompson's sister (you didn't even know he had a sister) your mind races as you try to deal with this as well. The Green Goblin could be up to something and Flash's sister just got hit by her father and jesus if he's Venom there's no way that will end well.

So you find yourself split between two focuses. Do you search for Flash Thompson, who is apparently missing according to his sister, or do you go and see if the Green Goblin's getting something ready that could cause a lot of damage?

And worse, yet, if the Green Goblin is Harry, you know that means he's up to something. The guy's a grandstanding jerk these days, but he always had a scheme in reserve. If you called him out as Spider-man, his ego might not let him back down, which could buy you time to ferret him out.

But be sure to tell people what we're doing.

Unfortunately with Harry, we have a time limit of whenever he decides to come home, at which point his dad will say we called, which means Harry will know that we're on to him. But helping a girl find her brother seems more important and something we can actually accomplish.
>>
>>39245024
I'm gonna second this. We're far from the only hero around, we can pass this off to the fantastic four.
>>
>>39244949
Can we first do a really quick verification that Flash really does have a sister and this is her?
>>
>>39245110
Which part? I mean both Harry and Flash were at least former friends, and if they see us taking an interest in them, they might be less spooked than having Iron Man or the Fantastic Four show up. Also I think we're still kind of avoiding the FF because clones make us feel icky. And having any of our friends investigate Harry for us pretty much guarantees them getting thrown off a bridge.
>>
If we was to get the Green light from Tony to make a Iron Spider other durability what else would we be getting?
>>
>>39245152
We don't need to have them investigating harry, but we can tell them we've got a tip about the Green Goblin and can't handle it, and pass on the list of equipment that got stolen. The FF are just as capable of handling scientific stuff as we are, probably moreso, and they need to get out of their shell.
>>
>>39245168
Getting a mecha suit will never not be a waste of time and energy. Almost as bad as the Kamen Rider fetishism.
>>
>>39245195
Eh, Eddie told us not to tell anyone though, especially the police.

I feel like ideally we find Flash and then after an obligatory fight scene we work with him to take down the Goblin, since I'm pretty sure Flash has encountered him (as Taskmaster) a lot more than we have.
>>
>>39245205
>Getting a mecha suit will never not be a waste of time and energy

I'm saying if we had the time to make one what would be the benefits I'm neutral to the idea and I wanted to know because I remember people wanted to do it but I never did as why all I could think of was alot more durability and gadgets
>>
>>39245240
And in the meantime, how much progress would be made on stopping Hydra? Or getting Tony to not fuck us?
>>
>>39245307
That's...a fair point. Alright, compromise. We make a copy of the drive, drop that off with potts, then head out to stop Goblin. It'll take a few hours tops.
>>
>>39245307
I cant recall but does ay one at Stark know or identity?

Also couldn't we just set up a program to download the files on the flash drive while we went to get Flash?
>>
>>39245307
I'm pretty sure it's been clearly stated both by people in the thread, and our friends outside of it, that trying to take down HYDRA on our own is suicidally retarded. Also, the problem with informing Tony is that it's tricky to do that without also outing ourselves as Spider-Man, who isn't really in a very popular position right now because not even a good first impression can escape from the innate shittiness that is Marvel civilians.
>>
>>39245367
The good Doctor Spyral.

>>39245168
That's a very good question indeed.

So there seems to be a lead for getting a flash drive with info to stark or finding Flash here, is that right?
>>
>>39245340
So are you just voting to ignore Flash? That thing he's wearing has the potential to be incredibly dangerous, but in theory he's not too far gone. Getting a handle on him before he becomes a super villain seems the responsible thing to do.
>>
>>39245430
>That's a very good question indeed.
No it isn't. If we don't hold back, we're already stronger than any hydraulics or whatever can provide without crippling our agility, which is our best combat attribute. Seeing that Stark's current technological progresion is Iron Man 2, thinking he can build anything that would be an unambiguous plus for us in the near future is absurd. Especially with everything else we have to do.
>>
>>39245450
Of course not. I'm just saying make sure we give Stark something to keep him busy WHILE we deal with Flash.
>>
>>39245557
Is he even in New York right now? Much less still hunting Venom? That was like... a month ago, right?
>>
>>39245523
Considering that Stark himself is a pioneer of dozens of different technological fields and alloys, I'd say it IS a good question what having Stark's not only allowance but help would net you in such an instance. He's also capable of synthesizing new elements, though peter's probably not entirely aware of that one.

I'm pretty sure making a stronger material is not a concern for him.

Regardless, gonna final destination vote here: reply with only a link to this post and the number you support.

I kinda want to do street level crimefighting. I feel like we're hardly spider-man at all in this quest sometimes
>>
>>39245962
I think we've tried a couple times, but New York City is huge anon. Actually finding any crimes in progress and getting there on time to prevent them is monumentally unlikely. Also I'm pretty sure we've reached the point where people feel as if we're creating costumed villains by our continued presence. We would have been better off if we kept being Spider-Men to fighting metacriminals like the Hobgoblin but we caved for those sweet karma points. In the long run, I don't think that was a good move.
>>
>>39245927
>MJ
I don't think we should bring her into this. Also we should definetely talk to Felicia before handing the info over to Stark considering there's a lot of data on her family as well.

The chestpiece contains the highest concentration of Kasimir Plate Batteries-- nano-scale power generating devices that exploit "zero point" energy. Can generate 1.2kWatts at peak demand.

I don't think Stark is there yet. I don't think REED is there yet.

With Aunt May looking to have things in control for the moment, you head back towards the basement door. “I know this is the absolute worst time, Aunt May, but I need to get this thing I'm working on done before the deadline.”

Aunt May gives you a disappointed look before focusing on the girl again, offering her something to snack on while you head back into the basement. Making sure your computer is off of any network, you take a flash drive and wipe it down of any fingerprints and empty and reformatted before loading only the relelvant information on SHIELD and HYDRA onto it.

It takes a little while to load the information onto it. As you do so, you re-familiarize yourself with the information you're uploading while quieting that feeling of guilt with the reasoning that there are more important things at stake with what you're doing.

By the time you get upstairs, your Aunt and Flash's sister are gone. There's a note pinned to the message board from your aunt. Picking it up, you skim it over before reading it again. And again.

'Peter, I might not always understand the things you're doing and the Good Lord knows that Ben and I are more than likely of little help considering how talented and intelligent you've always been, but we always tried to teach you to do the right thing. Ben might not think he has the right to bring your father up to scold you, but I will tell you that your father was a good man whose desire to help people led him to science and medicine. But even when he was behind on schedules, busy with his projects and had dozen of obligations, he always made the time to stop and help people when he saw them in trouble. I've always said that he'd always be proud of you no matter what you do, but today I think he'd be profoundly disappointed in you today.

'Captain Stacy is escorting Miss Thompson and I to the station to discuss where she'll be staying in light of her and what they can do to find her brother, your friend, and Ben will be providing us with a ride home when he gets off of work. I hope you managed to meet your deadline.'

You find that you need to sit for a few moments, a bitter weight on your chest.

You carefully make your way to the Police Station that captain Stacy works at, the one he would have taken Aunt May to. As you look around in the afternoon light, you see a disheveled man in cuffs cursing and being dragged into the station.

Glancing around, you see a dark alley nearby. There doesn't seem to be anything suspicious at the moment...

Taking a look around the area without being spotted isn't hard when nobody looks up and you're quick and soon enough you see a figure at the edge of the alley you saw earlier, with a black hood covering their head. As you watch the figure, you see an officer starting to near the alley and the figure tensing.

You move closer and wait, remaining out of sight, above them in the alley. You see the policeman pass the alley before he'd pulled back into it, the hooded figure holding the man in a choke hold and dragging him further into the alley. As the man loses consciousness, you see the hooded figure's form start to shift into black ooze before taking on a mimic of the man's appearance.

As the figure moves to go for the cop's gun, you drop to the alley's ground as the fake cop freezes and looks at you. Venom's voice comes from the cop, sounding more than a bit pissed as the cop looks the part. “What are you doing here, Venom?”

He tenses further as you see a few patches of inky blackness appear as he seems to lose focus. “I've got something I need to do. Get lost or I'll make you.”

The cop is breathing beneath him, but you can tell that Venom had a reason he was imitating the cop to the point of taking his gun. And you don't like the reason you're imagining.

"It's not enough to have him out of their lives, you need to there for them as well, and I don't think if you'll be able to face them if you do... whatever it is you're doing. There are cleaner ways of doing this, that don't involve ruining the life of a comple bystander. Getting enough evidence to put him away won't be a problem."

I'm assuming that that cop isn't his dad right?

“I know what you're thinking and you don't want to do this.”

Venom's hands clench as half of the face melts into a slightly monstrous form of venom's face.. mask.. whatever you'd call it as he hisses out at you so his voice won't carry. “You don't know anything. Do you have any idea what he's done to our family? I don't care what he did to me, but I promised him when I left. I promised him if he laid one hand on her, I'll come for him and there won't be anyone on God's green earth that could stop me from getting to him. You don't know what it's like to have your life ruined by one man!”

You pause and look at Venom. Half transformed and the other disguised half about to tear up- with sorrow or fury you can't be sure. “I do actually. A very dangerous man killed my parents and covered it up and walked away Scot-free and I didn't even know about it until recently. So, please do not tell me that I have no idea what it is like to have my life ruined by one man. And yes, I would very much like to bring him to justice.”

You see the eyes widen slightly as you calmly, almost clinically shut down his argument without going into the details of it. “So, what's the difference? Why are you stopping me?”

“The difference is that he has very powerful friends and I'm not the only one who has been hurt by him and his friends. The other point is that I know you're better than this.”

Venom's eyes narrow as he approaches you. “You don't know the first damned thing about me.”
>1/2
>>
>>39249737

You look at the still breathing cop and every article on his appearances you'd found. “I know you're not a killer. You've worked yourself hard, harder than I ever have and have been working to bring a lot of scumbags to justice but you never once killed them, any of them. You went out of your way to help that person who was dosed with the lizard serum when it would have been easier and safer to just kill him. I know you could have just killed that cop and done it anyway, but you didn't even though it would have been quicker and safer. Because deep down you want to help people and you've honestly done a damned better job of it than I have ever done, despite the world itself being out to get you.

Venom looks slightly off put and conflicted as you step forward. “I also know you love your sister because the first thing you told her to do if she was ever hurt was to go to one of the safest places you knew. And she's worried about you, more than herself. Right now, you can still go and be her big brother. And she needs you.”

Venom's form shrinks back into the hooded jacket as he seems to deflate. You can see his real face. Black and blue, exhausted and defeated.

Flash nods and heads out of the alley. After he's gone, you reposition the cop to be sitting upright and make sure he'll wake up soon. When you've gotten far enough away, not sure what your plans are, the phone that's part of your mask begins to ring. The number itself seems to be blocked.

The maniacal voice of the Green Goblin answers you as he clears his voice. “So, I haven't seen you around lately and that's boring me, but I realize that I'm clearly at fault here too, Spider-man. So meet me at the top of the Empire State's Building soon.”

There a pause again before he speaks again, his voice more twisted and bloodthirsty. “Or else.”

You begin calling everyone. You make sure Mary Jane and Felicia are alright. You call up Ghost Rider, Gwen and the Fantastic Four. Informing them about the call and that the Goblin might be up to something. You also ask each of them if you should tell Tony Stark, but each of them merely inform you that while every extra person could help, if Stark is called would be up to you. You call up Miss Pott's phone, waiting for her to answer. When she soon does, her voice is professional yet wary. “This is Pepper Potts, May I ask who is calling and how you got this number?”

Making sure your attitude and voice is different. “Yes, sorry for the short notice, but I was calling about making an appointment with Mister Stark about the subject of a possible superhero team-up? Because there's a supervillain on the Empire State building that called the Green Goblin, and he might be up to something. As for how I got this number? Well, its because I'm your friendly neighborhood Spider-man!”

Hanging up, you head your way to the Empire State Building. The sky's begun to darken and thunder as you notice that there's something on the top of the Empire State Building. Landing nearby, you see a device that seems to be glowing brightly with a lot of things spinning in the center and there's the sound like a washing machine on a super fast extract cycle coming from it.

Behind you, you hear the sound of the Goblin's Glider lowering. Turning, you see him standing there, hands tucked behind his back.

“Spider-man, so glad for you to make it. I actually really am. I've been thinking, you see. You and I are special. We're better than everyone else, right down to our DNA. I actually had a big scheme planned where I'd remove your powers and have an army of Spider-man powered minions to attack the Stark Expo, but honestly my associate was right. It'd be boring. I'd rather live in a... much more interesting world.”

You let him talk considering it seems like he's got something, probably the activator to his device, hidden behind his back and would be ready to hit it at any moment.

The Green Goblin pulls back his mask to reveal that it is now a green color- like if you rusted copper. “I also really like the name that they've put out there for me. The Green Goblin. I've decided to embrace it. You like?”

>The Green Goblin seems to be trying to banter with you, which makes sense considering who he is. Is that device the real one? A fake? Does he have something else planned and this is all a distraction?

The Goblin chuckles. “Well, it helps that I checked the weather forecast. Nothing like a fight for the future of the city in the rain!”

The machine hums behind you as you stare down the Goblin, trying to buy more time. “Why are you doing this? What do you get out of all of this?”

The Goblin seems surprised momentarily. “Before I became the Goblin, I was nobody. Now I'm someone. I love the adrenaline from fighting and scheming against you. It doesn't help that your black knockoff ruined part of my plans by terrorizing the lowest level of crooks, but honestly I'm bored of this world. Politicians run the world, fueled by their greed for money or power. It's boring, old. I'm sick of hearing about it on the news!”

He pauses and takes a breath as he calms himself. “But ultimately? Because I can, Spider-man. It is ultimately the reason why anyone does anything. I can. I am capable of doing this and I'm sick of those around me who let what they could have had slip away because they had no aspiration or drive to find out what they were capable of!”

The Goblin laughs madly, psychotically. How much of it is an act, you're not sure. You wait for the Goblin to calm himself. “Well, are you done trying to buy time for your amazing friends to get here? Because honestly, it works both ways you know.”

A few building away, you see a large black motorcycle covered in blue flames flying from rooftop to rooftop alongside a figure in white and black webslinging.

The Green Goblin reveals what's in his hand- a tablet with the images of dozens of other such devices on other rooftops.

“So, what's your plan, Spider-man?”

The Goblin rushes at you with pure brute strength, but as strong as he is, you're faster. Anticipating every blow, you dodge nimbly out of the way. In between each dodge, you manage to get a quick hit in. He's wearing pretty tough gear, but that just means you'll have to target weaker areas like joints.

Still, even then he's got pretty inhuman endurance because he doesn't seem to be noticing it. The Green Goblin gets up after you git him as he cracks his neck. “Is that the best you've got? Let's make this more interesting!”

So can we not do that this round because it seems like all that would accomplish is him knowing we could do that, and adjusting accordingly.
>>
>14 vs 20

You consider perhaps trying to tear off his armor, but currently he's on the offensive. As the rain begins to truly downpour, you see the Green Goblin pull out a pumpkin bomb and toss it at you. As you move to dodge out of the way, your spider-sense alerts you as the Green Goblin slams a knee into your gut before grabbing you by the arm and slamming you into the ground.

>27/32 HP remaining, things are bruised and sore.

Rolling away from another blow, you try to web him to the ground as he just tears his way through the webbing. You consider any alternative plans of action.

>24 vs 12

You move in more aggressively as you ignore your agility. Attaching one hand to the armor over his chest, you pull and kick him away with all your strength as you hear the metal and other compunds in the armor tear.

As the Goblin gets up, you see a large tear in the armor over his chest and you move in and punch him in the new weakspot. He gives a cry of pain and gets sent flying back into the side of the building as you clutch as your hand in pain!

Okay, you need to get better at throwing a punch. Because you do not know how to fight outside of dodging and hitting things in accordance to your spider-sense.

>26/32 HP, left wrist kinda hurts from hitting him but is fully functional

The goblin gets up, groaning and clutching at his chest. The wall behind him crumbles from the cracks left in it as his mouthpiece opens up and he spits out some blood before closing. His hand clenches and unclenches.

“Yeah, this is more like it!”

Hit footsteps echo in the rain as his goblin glider has blades comes out of it as its engines begin to roar.

True. And hopefully if we're going back to agility, he won't take us below 10 HP. Though assuming it's based on the difference between our dice and his (with Parker luck as a factor) he may have just dealt 12 damage in this round alone.
>>

Oh right. But I don't know about using it now, since I don't think it'll end the fight or even seriously injure GG, and I think we're at low tide for the dice.

12 v 23

You try to move in and Attack him, but the Glider swoops in after you. As you dodge out of the way. You jump out of the way of two pumpkin bombs as the Green Goblin slides in and body checks you. As you try to move away, he leg catches you in the chest and sends you rolling hard into the railing of the observation platform.

>hp 18/32 injured but nothing broken. -1 to agility rolls

Groaning you get you your feet. You're not in the worst shape you've ever been in, but you've seen better days. The Green Goblin's hand moves from where he has been holding his chest. His mask opens up again as he spits out another glob of bloody saliva before closing it, the blood being rinsed away in the rain.

You make yourself move. As he throws a pumpkin bomb, you web it into the air, away from the building as it explode and leap backwards over the impaling glider, turning it into a handstand, that then turns into a kick right to where the torn armor was in the chest, sending him flying backwards.

Behind you, the glider's blades retract as the Goblin rolls against the wall of the building. He tries to get up and groans, collapsing.

As you make your way towards him, you feel your spider-sense go mad as he reaches into his bag. A hellish flame seems to burn you alive before the precognition ends.

Whatever he's doing is not good.

Reaching into the bag, you see an injector gun with two vials in it and two needles. You move to web it from his hands, but he moves out of the way and injects it into himself. But, you're already in motion and have a second web to tear it away.

The injector is torn away with a cry of agony as only have of the vials, if that, make their way into him. The green Goblin clutches at his chest and begins convulsing and screaming. Pulling at his mask, he seems to be trying to contact someone.

A voice, twisting in agony is crying. “Connors, what did you give me?1 It hurts! You snake bastard!”

He screams again, seemingly listening to... Doctor Curt Connors?

...That's bad. That's really bad.
The machine at the top of the Empire State Building begins to glow red as the Green Goblin tries to get to his feet. You can see his frame shaking as he seems to be staring at you.

Unsteadily on his feet, you're not sure what he's capable of. Or what he tried to inject himself with. You'd already informed your allies about Connors. He was probably the one with the detonator.

The Goblin raises his arms up into a rough boxing pose as his form shakes. She steps forward, clearly intent on trying to fight you still. Fight you to the bitter end.

You move to get into range with him, but as you're about to hit him, your Spider-sense cries out for you to get away! Hurrying back in the rain, you feel the heat before he lets lose a wave of heat and pressure.
Getting out of it, some of the rain steams and slightly burns at you, but its ignored by your armor.

>HP at 17/32

The Goblin's armor seems to tear off of his upper body, leaving only the Facial Mask, hood, and gauntlets. From underneath the hood come pointed, scaly ears that are pale with a slight green tinge. His Fingers have pierced through the cloves and are not so much as fingers as claws.

From the damaged mask, the eye's lenses are gone, revealing reptilian-shaped purple eyes and the hint of scale. His chest and upper arm are muscled and scaled, with the pale, almost green tinge to them as well. Staring at his hands, you see a terrible, purple flame start to form at his fingertips as the rain sizzles off of it.

The lower mouthpiece is taken off, revealing inhumanly sharp teeth in a Goblin's Grin.

And in an instance, the flames tinged with madness are gone as the Glider lowers by him.

“I'd get out of here, if I were you. That thing's the real deal. I have business to attend to.”

His voice is more guttural and lower, almost inhuman.

You let him go as you climb up to the machine. You pull of the panel and get to its inner working and revel in the horror of this design. The original device was a ganali machine- a machine meant to spread a substance through the air to the populace. This device is like making that into a nuke. As it is, this thing will explode and take out a good chunk of the city. That supercharged ganali would get into the air and there's no telling what would come of it.

You can't stop the machine. Not entirely, and unless you can stop the machine, you can't disarm it. Not anymore with its revisions. But you can stop the explosion, but not the Ganali device itself. At most only the entire city will be effected by this, but there won't be an explosion.

You're tearing apart machinery and rewiring it and reprogramming as fast and accurately as you can considering the rain and the pain you're in.

As you finish your modifications, you lean against the machine. Looking up, you see Iron Man rushing towards you in the air, trying to say something...

And then the lightning comes. You know it before you see it....

And it consumes you and the machine as it activates. And to you, it's like the world's come to an end.

The lightning hits and the world freezes and space/time cracks. In that instand everything freezes in this world. Except for three.

Sitting, looking out at the sky, a figure flickers, looking like a young red haired woman, then a blonde, before returning to the middle aged man with red hair and dead eyes. Pulling out his newspaper, he looks over the numbers written into and the events printed onto it. The man himself is almost nothing more than a wraith.

As they start to crumble into ash, the man reaches into himself and pulls out a glowing orange gem as the paper's state begins to revert and wholeness returns to the man. Getting up, he looks at the crack in space and time.

“I've spent too much time on this for you to screw over my magnum opus, you bastards.”

….

The lightning comes. You know it before you see it.

As the lightning hits the machine, to you its like the world's come to an end. Opening your eyes, you see the frozen form of the lighting as the device had come to life. But it was all frozen, like time has stopped moving forward.

And in the sky there's a crack, with darkness on the other side, beating light a heartbeat.

And then it shatters, like a window. On the other side are countless black wraiths with yellow eyes, hungering for all that lives and loves. And in front of them is a girl with long silver hair in a garish yellow and black outfit. As she looks upon you with her red eyes (silver eyes? Blue eyes? You're not sure how could you know?) she smiles as she takes out an envelope. With a knife in her other hand- when did it get there- when wasn't it there?- she opens it and reads it. With a cheerful, hellish grin, she approaches, walking on air like it were solid ground. She leans in to you.

“Mister Parker? You're on the list.”

The World inverts colors and the next thing you know if darkness. Darkness and a green chain wrapped around your arm into the abyss.

…...

“Hey, Flash, what are you doing here? I've been trying Peter while traveling in these dark empty realms, since I think something happened to our world.”

His eyes widen behind his costume, formed to protect him from the vacuum-like darkness in this realm he finds himself in. The girl is the one he met before.

But her foreaarm is missing and bleeding, not a prosthetic in sight, and she has no horns. Her eyes aren't weary and hopeless, but mirthful, like meeting an old friend again. Her skin is pale and the only thing keeping her from bleeding out is a chain wrapped around her stump like a tourniquet.

He approaches her carefully and cautiously. “Mephispheles?”

The girl's eyes narrow in confusion. “What? Don't be silly, Flash. It's me, Stella. ...Peter's sister?”
