It feels odd to be back in civilization.

Not that you have been away for very long, and you weren't as alone and relying on nothing but your wits as you first thought, most of the time you spent with monsters who were strangely agreeable around you, even Leiana who had all the reasons to be rather upset about settlers. Well, you're pretty sure she still is, thinking rationally your ability to leisurely talk to most intelligent monsters must be some kind of divine blessing from none than Ishtar herself.

It is, without doubt, very handy considering your line of work and the environment that surrounds you, but you wonder just how far the safety of this divine sanctuary extends, it wasn't enough to prevent a plant from hanging you upside down for instance, and you suppose that should you find more aggressive specimen you would need fleet of foot rather than divine intervention to get out alive.

Fortunately, the Shadow Marches are actually cozier than the name implies, all in spite of the recent Fomor War that destroyed it. Then again, the royal army has been taking the brunt of the fights in the Reconquista, so you presume that if it's safe and cozy for you it's thanks to their effort, or at least mostly so.

It's morning and you're wearing comfortable and most importantly dry clothes, and the only liquid that wets your skin is your own sweat: last night's sudden downpour caught you unprepared but it was over pretty quickly, and now there's little signs left that it happened at all, except for the incredibly muddy ground.

Better wear your poor shoes today...

Bryld and Tahenohan are still sleeping, the latter on top of you, not that moving her aside to get up would be a problem: it never was in the past, you probably wouldn’t even wake her up. The town hall is still very populated but most of the people are packing to return to their homes.

>Wake Bryld up.
>Wake Tahenohan up.
>Wake both of them up.
>Move Tahenohan, take a walk alone.

One of the (many) things they say about elves is that they don't sleep. Ever. You wonder if this means half-elves also don't sleep or if they just sleep less than full elves, or if it's all bullcrap as it most likely is and they not only sleep but they also do so very soundly.

Looking at Tahenohan, you'd be inclined to swear that elves are the hardest sleepers in Nalesia.

Might as well shake her up a bit until she groggily grumbles and opens her eyes as she collects her legs, hitting your thighs in the process, and then stretching as she looks up at you. You're used to have her drool on your breast by now, but you're never getting used to how messy her hair can get. It seems to have a life of its own, whose only purpose is to ruin her looks.

Or, well, you guess that disorderly looks really do suit some people.

"Mweh? Skeletons?", she asks, still half-asleep.

"No", you reassure her, or maybe you're disappointing her? "It's morning".

"Mmmmh...", she does sound disappointed as she stirs and stretches, still on top of you. Good thing she's such a featherweight, "Is it still raining?".

"No, it stopped, but the ground's very muddy", you can tell because you're seeing the tracks left on the floor by those shoes and boots that have walked out and then back in. There really is quite some movement and plenty of things being moved; they are all very basic tools and implements one might need for a night away from home and little else, showing that they weren’t prepared for this sudden transfer.

Tahenohan doesn't move, and looks ready to go back to sleep, "... What's the plan?".

"We're just going to take a look around, see what's happening", you tell Tahenohan, "We've been out of touch with civilization for a while".

"Have we?", she yawns, rubbing her head on your chest a little, as if trying to scratch something, but all she accomplishes is making you feel her messy hair all over your chest, slithering and tickling, you also feel something poking your skin. Must be the pointy years, or at least that's the only vaguely pointy thing that could poke you around there.

"We have. Well, we've been away when something big happened", what a coincidence. Well, you doubt anyone will think of accusing you of having caused anything, you were in a completely different direction. You wonder if Tahenohan being a necromancer might provoke some reactions, but you don't see much panic about, you doubt anyone would be dumb enough to lynch someone just because he's a necromancer.

Besides, angering a magic user is generally a very, very bad idea.

"You know I wonder what was the purpose of that", she stretches and rises up a bit, sitting on your thighs as she rubs her eyes, "Why raise undead if you're not going to control them?".

"I don't know", and you really don't, reason for which you urge Tahenohan to just move and look around, "We should ask someone who has a better idea of what's going on".

Once you get your bearings and start looking around, you see that New Royo isn’t too different from how you left it: everyone is busy doing something, and most people are busy moving basic survival stuff from one point (the town hall) to another (various houses) instead of hurrying to build as much as they can so that future settlers, who are without doubt incoming, will find a roof to put above their heads.

Most volunteers are helping too, you can recognize them because they’re the only armed people.

There's only one person who will know what's been going on all the time you were away, and especially after the undead outbreak.

Agnes.

Well, she's not really the only one, but she's definitely the most reliable of all people in New Royo, they wouldn't have made her a captain otherwise, let alone a knight.

You vaguely remember where she lives, but you've been in New Royo only very shortly and have been busy with every other sort of thing in the past few days, so you only have vague memories of how her house looks like from that all-girls sleepover party you've had together.

Right, you wonder if she's sleeping right now. If you have to be completely honest with yourself, you didn't wake up very early. Definitely not. You're probably not going to wake her up if you knock at her door, right?

Thanks to Tahenohan you actually find the very door you're supposed to knock at. Good thing she has a better memory than you do. "It's mostly because of the smell, her place has a peculiar one", she claims.

"What sort?", you can't help but ask.

Tahenohan ponders for a moment, then smiles, "The kind of vaguely acrid smell that reminds you of sweat but is warm and pleasant and feels very light, like a particular perfume that works well for both men and women?".

You sniff the air but you don't feel anything special, discounting the recent rain of course. “Can’t say I’m familiar with that smell”.

“It really suits her, I find”, and she nods sagely to herself.

“I thought half-elves had very keen hearing, I didn’t know they also had a great sense of smell”.

“All elven senses are keener than those of humans”, Tahenohan explains with a manic smile, “Mine aren’t that developed, but they’re still handy enough to tell someone’s house from another”.

>Spy inside from the window first.

I have, thank you.

Post shortly.

You don't want to wake Agnes up if she's sleeping, so you cautiously and unconspicously take a peek from her window to see if she's in there or not.

Windows here are just holes in the walls, there is no glass to be seen anywhere, mostly because there aren't glassblowers around, except maybe in Reboldeux, but the point is that it's still quite early for a new village such as New Royo to just have proper glass windows.

There is a lovely, semitransparent pink curtain that covers the hole and provides a little bit of privacy so as to prevent anyone from just peeking inside. You remember them from when you've slept here, and found them to be vaguely reminiscent of actual windows, which was pleasant enough compared to the tent conditions you've been in the recent past.

As you part the curtains just enough to take a peek inside, you realize that this isn't really going to make you look any good if she's not sleeping, as it's not really a very nice thing to just go and peek in from someone's window. Fortunately, you find that she's not awake and about but sleeping in her bed, looking motionless as she lays on a side, facing the wall, wearing nothing except for the same night gown you've seen on her already.

Well, at least you didn't wake her up.

"Need anything?", a voice interrupts you as a man turns around the corner of the house. Despite his age, clearly well over his fifties, he is dressed with the gambeson that many other volunteers wear, and carries both a long dagger and a halberd, which he uses as a long and bladed walking stick of sorts. He has a tanned complexion, very short and quite grayed hair and thin eyes. A short beard decorates his relaxed smile, and you can't help but notice that despite his age, his whole body looks quite muscular.

"We were looking for Agnes. Captain Agnes", you suppose you should be at least a bit formal in front of her soldiers, even though she didn't strike you as a formality-loving person, "But we didn't want to disturb her if she was sleeping".

"And you did well. I've had to insist for her to get some sleep, would have kept going for who knows how long otherwise", the man lets out an amused chuckle, "Her sense of duty is admirable and she was ever so afraid we would underestimate a threat if we let our guard down, but in the end nothing happened and we urged her to take some well-deserved rest. Besides, if the undead attack us in broad daylight we will at least see them coming".

From his tone he doesn't sound too concerned about the possibility of an actual attack. "I take it nothing particular happened, then?", you wonder.

"We took precautions, and like always we were glad they were all for nothing", he chuckles again, "I haven't lived this long by being careless, and let me tell you: there is nothing that feels quite as good as to realize that you won't have to fight for your life, even if just for a little longer".

"Nah, I don't think that's necessary", Tahenohan intervenes, her own manic smile to match her optimism, "If the undead density is as low as I think it is I could just patrol the outskirts and take control of the stragglers I find".

Of course your half-elf friend speaks faster than you can advise her to be cautious. Fortunately, the man takes it well with another chuckle, "Are you a wizard, lady?".

"Necromancer", she points out.

"They say wizards bring bad luck and staying close to one will make you have were babies, but I'll take that over being stabbed by a walking corpse", and he flashes a smile, and while his teeth aren’t rotting or missing it shows he’s not a youngster any more.

"Have you heard news from other places?", you ask, trying to get an idea of how this outbreak of undead hit the Reconquista.

"We've all heard that Maner got attacked, but according to one of the experts that passed by it was a hit and run thing, like a scare tactic of sorts. Not a full, frontal assault", he explains.

"So someone did get attacked", you frown and glance at Tahenohan, who seems to be pondering herself. "Maybe someone still claims the lands farther North as their own and doesn't want people in the way. That would explain why there were feral undead about: if the settlers get scared, they won't want to settle any more", she then guesses, in a rare event in which her reasonings are actually sound and solid.

"That's the same conclusion that person came to. I'm afraid I forgot her name but if you're going back to Reboldeux you'll see her at the caravansery, that's where she said she was headed to make sure the supplies keep coming".

"Are our supply lines in danger?", you wonder, "Actually, what if we get attacked too? How prepared are we?".

"I would tell you everything is under control, but you strike me as an intelligent woman and your friend here is clearly experienced in the matter, so I'll be honest: we aren't", he bluntly claims with a smile on his wizened face, "Most of us are young, inexperienced and poorly equipped. Many never took a bladed implement in their hands except for cooking and eating, and almost none of them had any formal combat training before ending under Agnes' care".

Well that doesn't sound terribly reassuring.

“But don’t worry”, he brightens his smile, as if sensing your concerns, “Our supplies aren’t in danger of being attacked, the threat comes from the opposite direction. However, if the settlers get scared, the enemy won’t need to attack us”.

>”How actually scared are we, here?”.

"Who is this expert from Maner?", you wonder, "And why is she not there?".

"I don't remember her name, just that she's from Morroc. And she's come back to ensure we still have supply lines, I suppose, even though she didn't say that outright", he chuckles, "That's good, means she too knows how wars go".

"Will Maner hold? How actually scared are the settlers?".

"Well, it's just stories and might as well be propaganda, but I heard the people in Maner, the spearhead of the Reconquista, are crazy enough to fling themselves inside a cave with a catapult and never lost a battle, so I would say that as long as they stick around Maner is going to hold against anything that gets thrown at it", he scratches his chin as a faint smile forms on his lips, "Reminds me of the heroes that inevitably rise in every battlefield, when you're up against the good ones you better be prepared to deal with the impossible because that's what they'll bring to the fight".

"I've once seen a guy suplex an owlbear", Tahenohan helpfully contributes, "And he wasn't even mad".

"Does Agnes realie her troops are...".

"Inexperineced? Well... She knows that much, but she is, you know...", he smiles, "An unfazeable optimist. As long as she sees conviction and valor and burning hearts she believes she can take everything head on. Which works for her, not as much for those that aren't quite as heroic and determined as she is, and believe me: to master the techniques I've seen her showcase during training she must have battle in her very bloodstream".

She sounds like some kind of very talented and very gifted individual, even though she can't be more than a few years older than you are.

Jeez thread is pretty dead today.

Now that we know skellies are about, are we returning to our home base rather than continuing our missions of cartography and census-ing, trying to forge on with them, or going on a pwoppah adventure to the nasty castle?
>>
You thank the old volunteer and head just out of town looking for Astreya and hoping she's at home.

As you walk along the non-existing path across the still not marked borders of New Royo to reach a house that you would call "isolated" if you forgot just where you are and how far from an actually civilized place this is, you are assaulted by a brief sense of dread as you find yourself instinctively looking around for signs of wandering undead.

It takes you but a moment to realize how silly you're being, but you haven't been feeling very differently through all the way back from Susanna's place; now that you're relatively far from New Royo, even though you can still very well see the houses, you realize that when you're not surrounded by other people, some of which armed, you start feeling less safe and begin to understand why a caravan might not feel like braving the Shadow Marches any longer. You're reminded of the one that gave you a passage there: if you had a wife and three small children to look after and heard the place was infested with wandering undead you'd think at least twice before departing from Reboldeux.

Astreya's house is still as cozy-looking from the outside as it was the first time, with its somewhat odd hexagonal shape and two stories, making it almost look more developed vertically than horizontally. The recent rains have made the surrounding vegetation greener and more lush, even though there's nothing that can be called a proper garden.

You barely have time to approach the door that it opens, revealing the disorderly-haired, crossdressing, yellow-eyed demon that goes by the name of Yomi just behind.

"I could smell your fetid, half-blood, Deviluke stench from the other side of town", he greets you, "'sup bitch".

>”I am looking for Astreya, is she home?”.

"Are you in charge of the garden? Because you're doing a shitty job at it", you answer, trying to imitate the absolute nonchalance with which he just spits insults at people, making it look like he's talking normally. You're afraid he's just way better than you at this, however.

"Just because you mortals can take dumps on the ground doesn't mean you have to boast about it, I'm still doing a better job than you would even if you have the advantage of explosive diarrhea", he doesn't even sound mad, you have to admit he's damn good at this. Even his face is somehow making everything even worse than how he makes it sound.

"Why are you always so abrasive?".

"Because it's the only way to smear the grime of slut and bitch you have on your disgusting self".

You take a brief pause.

"I am looking for Astreya, is she home?", you ask in the most neutral tone possible, reminding yourself that he's still a demon and you shouldn't take his extremely obvious bait.

"That lazy asshole is still in bed, why don't you just go open that door and pound her ass? That'll wake her up for sure", he even steps aside and points at a sliding door, which is currently closed, cutting a corner of the house away from sight, "Just scream surprise buttsex or something while you're doing that and she'll even like it".

He looks amazingly and absolutely serious throughout all that suggestion, not betraying the slightest hint of emotion.

The inside of Astreya’s house is just like you remembered it: a rather full foyer that doubles as a common room, with sofas and cushions and a low table, all surrounded by bookcases, and the few walls that don’t have bookcases are actually sliding doors, cutting corners of the house away for private use. There’s also a trapdoor above you, currently closed.

"Alright", you go, shrugging to prove that you really don't give a damn, "That door, is it?".

"Yup, suit yourself".

You walk past Yomi, with Tahenohan right behind you, and grab the sliding door's handles, opening them slowly enough to make sure you don't actually wake Astreya up, or you might have some explaining to do.

Actually, chances are you might have some explaining to do regardless.

Her room is small and possibly even cramped if it wasn't well-organized enough so as to make the best use of the little and awkwardly cut space available. Two long drawers under the bed help store whatever she might need immediately, with enough room to get up and get dressed without opening the doors, and a folding shoe rack to help with that.

Astreya herself is still in the bed, with a very light sheet that is nonetheless discarded to the side, as if she was feeling too hot for even just that, a feeling you can easily share as you're feeling hot even now, especially when you notice she's wearing nothing but a silky and nearly transparent light grey gown. Well, it's not really transparent, but it's the sort of nightwear that has embroidery on the neckline and wrists and feels so soft even just to look at.

You can't help but shoot a glance behind you, finding Yomi just standing there, hands clasped comfortably behind his head, just staring at you. "What? Need some privacy to feel clean, you dirty assrapist?".

And Tahenohan is right next to him, her expression apparently even more manic than before, "I just wanted to witness the assault of the demonic cock".

You look at Astreya again, she's sleeping so peacefully and has such a relaxed face. Which doesn't help in not making you capable of going through with the plan if you wanted to.

This!
>>
"Of course, do you mind?", you frown and slide the doors closed behind you, hearing Tahenohan's "Awwww" as you do that, along with her sad, disappointed face.

You're surrounded by dirty, dirty perverts.

You hear some light moaning as Astreya stirs slightly, your tail freezes in place as you watch her adjust her position, but she seems to be still fast asleep.

Considering the past few days, you suppose she's been awake for quite a bit of time and has worked quite a bit, especially at night time. Demons probably don't need to sleep, which would explain why Yomi is awake and looking as fresh as he could possibly be, but she's no otherworldly being, she just has a large pair of horns that clearly prevent her from sleeping face down, or face-up, or to just roll over in bed without raising her head.

Now that you think of it her cushion is pretty large, you guess those horns are as heavy as they look and must be a huge bother when trying to sleep.

Actually, you too are quite a bother to her sleep, or could very possibly be.

You've bought time, but it won't last much. Knowing Tahenohan and Yomi they'll just burst in the room if you don't start the ass-pounding soon and give them clear auditory clues that you have. Which is bad, because you're not a rapist and you don't plan on ever becoming one, and waking her up to ask for her consent would be awkward to say the least.

The worst part is that there isn’t much space, if you take one single step forward you’re going to hit your shin against the bed, and you can’t go anywhere without bumping into something, mostly furniture. You could escape from the window, past the pretty green curtains, but you’d have to open it first and you can’t figure a way to do so without climbing on her bed, which will inevitably wake her up.

>Wake her up, explain what’s going on.
>Wake her up, blame Yomi for everything.
>Go for the window after all.
>Screw this, get out and deal with the two outside (how?).
>Other?
>>
>>39267112
You're fucked now Lillith! Unlike Astreya!
>Wake her up, explain what’s going on.
>>
>>39267112
>Wake her up, explain what’s going on.
>Yell "SURPRISE BUTTSEX" to complete the bluff.
>>
Anyone know what we're trying to do?

I'm not complaining, I just don't get why we're going back
>>
>>39267112
>Yell "SURPRISE BUTTSEX" to complete the bluff.
>Touch her in an improper manner.
>>
>>39267112
>Wake her up, explain what’s going on.
>>
>>39267172
My plan from the start was basically 'hope he's contractually required to back down from the buttsex-chicken first to protect his mistress, else admit everything'.
>>
>>39267172
We went back so that undead hordes didn't kill us.

>>39267112
>Wake her up, blame Yomi for everything.
>>
>>39267112

Dang, now I feel bad

>Confront Yomi and Tahe, and lecture them on how horrible what they suggested was, without waking Astreya
>>
>>39267112
>Touch fluffy tail. I mean, touch overgrown horns.
>Wake her up, explain what’s going on.
>>
>>39267290
They'd just say they knew we wouldn't go through with it because we're a weak-willed pussy/nice person respectively. We can't win!

Better fail at doing the right thing than succeed doing the wrong

Your bluff didn't work. A part of you isn't really surprised that Yomi didn't chicken out from this dare, and tells you that you shouldn't be this surprised that a demon has this kind of behaviour. By Jure's bashful love it IS a demon!

Not many options left but try and let the woman who has a lot of experience dealing with such a being fix the situation. With somewhat trembling hands, you touch her fluffy horns- No wait, that's not where you're supposed to touch. Well it might get her to wake up but it's sort of inappropriate to touch her there, you should reach to her silky gown instead and grab her soft-looking breasts, one falling on top of the other as she lies sideways with a most peaceful sleeping fa-

No. No. Bad Lillith. Bad!

You gently shake her shoulder, avoiding inappropriate areas and doing your best to avoid inappropriate thoughts, focusing on the shame of this odd situation in order to kill your ability to actually follow through with your bluff and hope it will work, without internally bemoaning that you will hardly, if ever, get another good chance as this one to touch her inappopriately.

She mumbles and moans a little, then her eyes slowly open as she stares at you in a confused, half-asleep stupor for a while, failing to realize there's a stranger right in front of her bed, with the doors closed behind her.

"Astreya I'm sorry, I can explain", you instantly assure her, but she just blinks, slowly, and keeps staring at you.

She then rubs her tired eyes and gives you another look, a faint smile appearing on her lips as she starts to recognize you, “Mmmh. Lillith, was it?”.

“Yes”. She even remembered your name, though you guess it’s not surprising as you do stand out, whether you like it or not.

“Did Yomi let you in? Did something happen?”.

“No. Well, yes, well...”, you sigh, “... Like I said, I can explain”.

And you do, pleasantly surprised at how easily she just lays still and listens, yawning occasionally.

Well only one person has voted to actually go through with it, thankfully.

Yeah, I guess I did. Also I'm used to MP finishing around this time.

You open the doors, glaring at both Yomi and Tahenohan.

"You're horrible people", you tell them, "Especially you, what kind of servant tells a stranger to go assrape his mistress?".

"The kind that wants to show a weak-willed, chicken-out pussy her place", and he just shrugs, "Thanks for the pathetic show, bitch, you can go back into hiding now".

"Well, I just wanted to pull your leg a bit", Tahenohan tilts her head, chuckling, "I know you're actually too nice to do something like that". But then you swear you can hear her mutter "Though I really would have liked to see the assault of the demonic cock".

Meanwhile, Astreya gets dressed behind you, in the room you made for her, and once she's back in her usual home attire, green and light blue, she stretches and yawns another time, smiling at her servant, "Yomi, Lillith is a guest of mine, please do not tease her too much, okay?".

"Pfff, please, you would have liked it and you know it".

"That is beyond the point, Yomi", she answers with her usual patient tone and smile, which she also offers you, "Please do not worry, my familiar knew you meant no harm all along. I assure you I am not angry, I woke up to much worse sights".

"Thanks", you feel like this was some kind of compliment, all considered.

"Yomi", Astreya calls while clapping her hands, "Coffee, please, for three".

"Yeah, yeah", the demon goes as he opens another sliding door and enters what seems to be a cramped kitchen and pantry combined, while Astreya sits comfortably on the sofa, looking like she could go back to sleep any time.

“I presume you are here to talk about the outbreak of undead. I’m sure your friend here has felt the unnatural tingle of that wave of purple energy in the sky a few days ago”, and Tahenohan nods enthusiastically at that mention, “Well, I have been helping Agnes patrol the surrounding area, assessing the situation, and... What can I say”.

She looks up at you, and smiles, “I’m kind of disappointed”.

And NOW the thread is over.

Thank you for participating, I'm sorry this was a slow day, we'll get more accomplished next time, I promise.

At least playing games of dare with demons has proven to be... Interesting.

>>39267742
Ah, alright. Thanks for running for real then!

>>39267742
We should have fondled her horns at least. Even if they are etherwind-induced horns with no sensation.

>"Pfff, please, you would have liked it and you know it".
>"That is beyond the point, Yomi"
O-oh my.
Somewhat sad that Lillith has failed to stablish dominance over Yomi again, next thread, maybe.

Next week for sure, check twitter for quest times.

Speaking of which, I should really find an opening image for the quest. Unfortunately I'm shit at drawing and even image editing.
>>
>>39268067
Yeah, I usually just find it through twitter but it'd probably help to have a consistent one. And sadly Lewdlith is a bit too risque for that I'd say.

Didn't te quest get other fanart? I remember one of Tahe, was that one lewd?

The quest did get plenty of fanart, most of that was, however, commissions. I'd need something that gets more of the general feeling of the quest.

Decu's pics, however, are cute and very good for the second post.

But eh, I'll see what I can do myself for the opening. I'm all for fancy fantasy landscapes in this case.
>>
>>39268226
Ah, alright.
Well, good luck with that!
>>
>>39268067
Sorry, no more commissions from me. Though I admit I thought of buying for one before...

>>39268226
If I could, I'd draw everything. But not even my stickmens are good.
>>
>>39268226
You could ask your Rei friend. But to be honest, I enjoy the fancy fantasy landscapes.
