Also Anon's i've wanted to ask this for a while.

What makes my writing so bad? What am i messing up/missing so horribly that my writing is beneath that of even rookie QM's? Seeing so many talk about how my writing and stuff makes them leave, or how its disgusting, really makes me dissapointed in myself.

50% of it would be solved if you typed with a spellchecker/grammerchecker like in word
Another 25% of it would be improved if you got some rest more often I believe. When you're rested your mind works better and you don't repeat the same descriptive adjectives in the same sentence etc.

Finally some overall closer evaluation of your sentence structure would go a long way. A few less run on sentences or more coherent asides within longer sentences would help.

Overall you're doing fine though but I mean this with all sincerity many issues would be solved if you had a computer and typed posts out in Word or something similar.

Anyhow, I can relate, man. I know what it's like to wonder if you're doing a good job of entertaining, and engaging, your players. When I was starting out as a DM, I had played a lot of campaigns, but was nervous as hell about stepping into the storyteller seat!

There were a few bumps, in the beginning, but I eventually got into the swing of things.

To me, combat is pretty damn cool; swift, brutal, and raw.

Characterization is fine, so far. I mean, we've mostly been either killing things, or learning how to kill things better.

Learning a bit more about Hereshiel, and deepening the relationship into pure d'aawwww levels would be welcome. I remember he (once) slipped something about looking for wedding rings, when talking about what they'd do on a 'date'.

I imagine the 'husband' title would be stirring in his little head, just about now. Might be a good chance to find out if he's EVER been with anyone.

While Feltera's a blank slate, it would be interesting to learn more about how she became a wanderer, and if she had been seeking ANYTHING to accomplish.

Combat is good when you keep it just above outrageously gory, in my opinion.

A bit more consistency with characters may be warranted. Hereshiel goes a bit too quickly from haughty tsundere to 'oh dear i love u bb' in my opinion. Pick one and stick with it more often and have him only act like the other when he lets his guard down.
Feltara's characterization seems to be getting a bit rockier going forward... before she said she barely ever smiled and we had to even roll to make a good one but now it seems like we're doing it kinda often. Extrapolating from that pick if you want her to be genuinely warming up to other people or if she's still got the stoic air of royalty about her. I imagine she was kinda a loner before from previous descriptions so I'd suggest the latter, with the occasional quip to/about Hereshiel with more of an inward smile.

Just keep doin what you're doin but don't let things get too outrageous character wise. Let characters develop slow or you have nothing to do with them. If Hereshiel just instantly becomes 'oh i always love you no problem' then it devalues his previous personality which was more demeaning and 'holier than thou'.

There could also be a tad more description, when it comes to certain things. For example, speaking of Hereshiel, we have that scene where Feltera had him sit on her lap, so she could feed him, like a subby, as a tease, before 'flooding'.

It was kind of a fade to black, after he (adorably) complained, and then we came to him sitting on her lap, he gets his mouth wiped with a napkin, and then, well... bedroom.

All fine, but it would have been welcome to put a few more dinner scenes, in there.

nah, i think we are soloing most of the time anyway.

You look down at Devriela as she scrubs away at her front, her back still towards you. To think that you saved a mage from Jerishal of all places, not only that but she is from one of the guilds with alot of pull. Your quite sure that Devriela will be useful in the future, both magically and as a guide if you ever have to head there. Maybe you could even have her teach the people you saved about wards and barrier magic, and then have it blessed. But first its best to know why she isnt still at home, arguing with a fellow mage about the proper way to draw a rune. Then again, maybe thats why she left...

"I assume you left either because of a disagreement or you just wanted a adventure."

For the first time since you two came in here she turns and faces you. Her front also has the chained heart tattoo, except with multiple small hearts surrounding it. As for her face it is filled with shock and amazement.

"How did you know i left for fun? Are you a psychic?"

You shrug at her and simply tell her it was a wild guess, but your glad that she left of her own will. It means that she can still enter Jerishal, and you can go with her. You turn off the faucet, having finished your bath, dry off, and go put on your armor while Devriela gets dressed. Once the two of you finish, you bade her to follow you as you go see how the rest of the freed slaves have been. Devriela talks the whole way, and still bother's you about tattoos.

"So anyway maybe you should give me some of those tattoos. After all i have earned that by now right?"

You stay silent and continue to where the slaves are kept. You dont just open up to people, and Devriela wont be the exception. As you walk though you realize that you have no idea where the slaves are kept at all, but you dont keep calm and walk as if you know where your going.

Alright so my first step is to fix Feltera. She is going to be alot more stoic like she should be, so no more toothy grins and wide smiles. Also im going to actually show that she knows stuff and knows more, so if she suddenly seems like a bookworm/nerd it can be justified IC because A. She has wandered for years, she knows alot of stuff. And B. You dont survive said years by being stupid. Is this all ok with everyone?

Your not going to let Devriela see your confusion, nor will you have Hereshiel try to take you to them. Instead your going to use the in house teleportation you possess. You think of where the residents could be, focusing and directing your thoughts, before teleporting away. Devriela lets out a small cry of surprise as the hallway dissapears in a bright flash. The two of you are sent through the castle and straight to the former slaves, where you appear in a bright flash and a small boom.

You look around calmly to see where you are, and see hundreds of people sitting in rows above you. Your standing on a platform, surrounded by at least 10 people sitting in chairs, with each one scrambling up and out of it to stand before you. All the people stare at you with a mix of awe and surprise, and for good reason. You are quite a spectacle in all appearances, and appearing in a bright flash of light doesnt help. You look around the rows of people, who were apparently in the middle of a gathering of sorts, and as your eye's pass over you see one mage get up from her seat and kneel.

Others follow her example, until everyone formerly sitting is now kneeling towards you, seemingly in reverence. Devriela looks between them and you silently, before whispering "Well thats one way to enter a place." She is right, it is, but you didnt come to force people to kneel. You tell them to rise and sit back down, as you prepare to speak to them.

We have that huge dragon's hoard of treasure. If they need to go to a neighboring area of civilization and buy supplies, they can use that. In the future we may even be able to establish trade, since we have such great wealth at this point to get our city up and running.

You look around the assembled mass, who sit patiently, waiting for you to say something. You then look down at the people sitting in the chairs around you. These must be who they chose to rule them, and each one is a mage of some sort. One wears tattered red robes with flame designs, while another is wearing smooth green robes with runic designs. The rest all wear different designs, some wearing clothes other than robes, while two girls wear skimpy attire. You gesture for them to rise, and they do immediately.

"Have you ten been appointed the temporary rulers?"

One of them steps forward, the mage wearing the smooth green robes, and nods. He swallows and then starts to speak.

"We have agreed that the best way to govern ourselves, taking into consideration that over half of us practice magic, is to elect a council of the most powerful and knowledgeable mages. Then we hold meetings for important decisions."

He then moves back quickly and awaits your word. So they set up a magocracy. While that sounds nice you have heard of enough places being destroyed due to a mage. Not like it bothers you, considering your stronger than everyone else here, but its still something to think about.

Well a magocracy sounds fine to you. Once Rhiannon awakens, which wont be for a while you presume, she can change it to a theocracy or monarchy, or whatever she wishes. But until then the non-mages, few they may be, need to be represented.

"I dont mind that you govern like this, but you must make sure the non-mages are represented as well on your council. How you choose them makes no difference to me, but they must be represented."

"Yes my Queen. We will make arrangements right away!"

Queen. Thats a new one for you to be honest, but you could careless what they called you, long as they remember Rhiannon is their goddess. As a matter of fact, its probably best to tell them that now.

"Good. Now I am on a quest to bring the goddess Rhiannon into the mortal world. You are currently living in her castle on our plane, and i expect you to live not only by her side but for her. Do you agree to live for Rhiannon?"

Your sudden and flat declaration shocks everyone immensely. People start talking and murmering about how they are in a gods castle, while a number of others have pretty much already come to that conclusion. As the murmuring and talking increases in volume one member of the council takes a step forward. His face is formed into one of uncertainty as he looks at you.

"And why should we worship Rhiannon? Why live by her guidance? After all you saved us not her, she isnt even here! Besides, why is she the goddess, when we have one such as you here? You are certainly not mortal, and you bashed through the demons like a goddess of war! Why shouldnt we worship you?"

You hear murmurs of agreement from the crowd as people fervently agree that you are who they should worship.

Plus its through OUR actions that she's even coming into being. That kind of puts us above her and if we're successful I wouldn't be surprised if we ascend in some way, hence the demigod talk.

BUT. I don't see Feltera as the kind of being that wants to be worshiped all the time, for whatever reason. So even if we truly are the real source of strength going forward, I think she'd rather take the out of 'nah its actually this other goddess' instead of having to go through all the high expectations of being a goddess herself.

The people talk about how he is right, you are their savor, not Rhiannon. Their talking grows in volume quickly as people point and nod about how you are the truely divine one. You saved them after all, and considering your standing here in front of them, a giantess in armor with glowing eye's and living tattoos, they arent exactly wrong in believing you to be their divine savior. But they are wrong. You arent a divine being, let alone a goddess, and this disrespect of Rhiannon's name is pissing you off.

Before they can go any further you raise your hammer and slam the head down on the ground. The platform shakes as cracks appear throughout its entirety, and the crowd quickly goes quiet as you rise back up slowly. Your face is filled with anger as you look down at the council man, who had moved farther back from you, and then you look at the crowd.

"Those who besmirch Rhiannon are my enemy, choose your words carefully!"

The crowd goes fully silent, not a whisper among them as you wait for you to talk. Seeing that there are no challengers among them or the council, you put your hammer over your shoulder.

"You all say that i am divine merely because i have the strength to save you and a different appeearance. But let me tell you now, and may you remember for eternity, that i am not a goddess! My strength comes directly from Rhiannon. Without her i would have never saved any of you. Do you see my armor? Do you see my hammer"

You raise your masterwork hammer high into the air, while standing taller(not like you need to)so they may see your Regal armor inscribed with holy letters.

Zetol I'm a fan of yours and defend you when people sperg out about stuff but when people come to the thread expecting to have the story go forward and they see you say you're writing only for you to get off on long tangents or requests for other things it really tries their patience and is as much a reason for dwindling participation than anything else

Here's a tip taken from some other quests: When you have a thread, run it as normal, sticking to things related to the actual writing of the quest and decisions, but when the post count gets to around 270 or so, finish your latest post and say the rest of the thread is dedicated to Q&A or discussion. Then you can set a topic, talk about your reasoning and ideas going forward, answer questions and ask for images and all that. Otherwise I sincerely think the irregularity of the thread on top of the other controversy will just continue to make people not want to come back.
