Okay, this has to be the work of a monster, or if we're unlucky today, a fallen magical girl, but which ever it is, I really don't want to have to fight something that can stop time with only Bel to help. I grab my locket as I reach into my nearby backpack and pull out the tattered red scarf, wrapping it around my neck as I scream "CRIMSON DREAM"

There's a blast of pale blue light as I force myself up, not bothering to wait to fully transform, my clothes burning around me as they form into the red sparks to quickly turn into my robes and armor, the leg braces fitting into place first as I dodge the magic, placing the bronze mask over my face as it falls out of my back pack, another beam of light flying over my head as leaves fly around me.

there's silence for a moment before more blasts of light fly around me, trying to hit whereever I may have scurried off to. I dodge between them, the visor forming over my eyes as I do so, seeing where they'll land before they do. I need to get to Delia.

I leap over another blast, and and next to her, right before the light closes her off on the other side, carrying her away with the help of my thrusters, before I land on my feet and look up.

No, the point is that they won't know where we are, until we fired. It makes it harder for them to dodge if they don't know its coming.
The best way to leverage that is, to set-up. Blast in plant mode. Then switch to comet mode with mask and look for a new spot, repeat.

I shake my head, and don't bother to even acknowledge whoever just tried to hit me, Bel and Charlotte can go deal with her. I keep flying, dodging more bits of metal, which my visor and the little animated me soon tell me are actually giant cogs and gears. Golden fortune looks up as she drags Amanda up to her and smiles, her teeth looking quite sharp.

"COMET BEAM" I shout as I fly towards her, my visor filling with warnings of "ENERGY OVERLOAD, ENERGY OVERLOAD" And various pop ups and whirring siren noises "SPIN"

I touch down as and spin my staff around just as the beam forms and fires off, the building under me blowing apart, but the bits of it stopping as they fly out into the sky and towards the ground. Golden fortune laughs and walks towards me, getting knocked aside with a scream of "FUCK!!"
I smile and begin to walk towards her as Amanda shouts in surprise, or maybe fear, probably fear as Golden stands back up and points and Shotgun made from gold and what looks like carved ivory at my head and smiles.

"Nice ta meet ya" She says smiling, I can see she's missing a tooth "So you're Charlotte's toy then, oh fantastic to meet ya, I'm almost sorry I have to do this to you but, my mum told me not to lie so, I have to say, I'm really glad I have to do this to ya"

A ball of fire forms and as she stabs at me I turn and slam my hand into her head.

I wince in pain as the ball grows in size and tosses us bother back with it's blast.

I stand up, holding my side as blood seeps out of it.

I look and see Golden, smiling madly as she pulls down her visor, and pulls out and even bigger gun. I feel my eyes go wide as she aims it at me.

The nat1 aside, I think trying to dodge is nearly never worth it in this system, because it doesn't bring the end of the fight closer, which means more rolls and more chances to get nat1s.
Its pretty much always better trying to counter.

Its not completly true, because Hm does take actions into account, so a nat1 failing to dodge still means you at least try to dodge, which 'can' be better if you can't find another way to avoid being hit.

Blue light gathers at my hands as I move to freeze Golden with a nice bit of frost magic. However She pulls the trigger far faster than I can move, and my vision is taken up by a very large explosion, a foot or two in front of me, that sends me flying off the building and onto another, dragging along the ground, my armor kicking up sparks before I hit a wall on the other side, which breaks and falls, but stops before it hits me. I sit up, my ears ringing as the burning Magical girl walks through the smoke, giggling madly as she does so.

I smile as I see some ice on my path, well at least I managed to do something.

I stare up at her, and stand up, smiling as I do so.

"So you really want to see a monster then?" I ask smiling wider as she walk towards me, the giant gun still in her hand.

"OH yes I do" She says "I really really want to see your wild side, maybe take you for a ride"

"Are you an idiot or something?" I ask as I wipe some blood from my mouth

"Well, kind of I guess" She says shrugging "I mean your girl was right about one thing, fighting is fun, but fighting magical girls no fun at all, see the way I see it, they always hold back, monsters don't at all, so they're much funner to have a tussle with"

"Yeah" I say "not going to happen, I'm going to beat your little ass, and then I'm going to find my girlfriend"

"Oh well lets see if that's true" I say as I slam my staff into the ground, the red light gathering at the end of it, before the blue light freezes it

"Oh this is going to be fun" SHe laughs as I run towards her as I think of horns, tails, milk, back pain, endlessly green fields of grass, mazes, and broken chairs as a warmth spreads through me

She ducks down and a second later bother barrels of her shotgun get jammed in my face.

There's a puff of smoke and I feel myself crash through the wall and down the alley way between this building and the next. I stand back up, ignoring the pain in me as I stare up at all the pretty lights in the sky.
