Gorgons already have a strong presence in the Alchemy industry; their small, delicate, long-nailed little reptilian hands are much more suited to the sophisticated and delicate work required within Alchemy and they are not burdened by a cultural heritage of loud, boisterous magical practices.

Your Gorgons however are: They have the hands for it, but the culture isn't there. Your Gorgons take after their Cyclopean Daddies and Mommies: their souls are loud, their magics are blatant, and alchemy can be at times "messy" if not impossible due to the constant blasting of their blatant hymns within their hearts and minds- such is the power of cultural heritage. The irony however is that Alchemy has become something of an "aged" profession. It attracts people who have been given patience through age: Grandmothers and Grandfathers have seen their souls grow dim have taken a quiet solace and satisfaction with the practice of alchemy. It has given them purpose and practice; most starting out as hobbyists, but later becoming professionals as the market and public make demand of their skills.

"We know you haven't been aware of current global happenings with your country involved in the utmost important spiritual affairs- and by all means we understand completely, but there's been growing concerns with the attitude and development of the other races: The Changelings and the Kenku."

Your Assemble is brought over to the Foundries docks; they bare witness to massive constructions of wood, steal, and iron and the constant clattering and symphony of industry, smoke bellowing, and an exclusive workforce composed entirely of Cyclopean minds. "We've gathered laborers, engineers, elementalists, blacksmiths, and craftsmen from the four corners of the continent and artisans as far north as the olive isles to this very foundry; we're going to make world history, Cousins."

They guide your people over to their current creation: a scaffolding overlooking a frame of steel and iron construction that bears the resemblance of a rib-cage. Plans and Schematics are laid out in Bamboo scrolls and silk papers and your party is welcomed by a committee of soot-stained engineers with bright eyes. "This is an Iron ship; it will be equipped with the latest in blackpowder weaponry, be able to carry TONS in supplies and goods. Ships of Iron such as these will allow our Species to Dominate all the Waters of this World."

The South isn't as invested in wildlife as your culture is: they invest a lot of time, money and resources into keeping it AWAY from their villages and cities and this is all the assistance they can provide to you. They teach your Farmers and Hunters how to make various burning fat and oil mixtures that produce a scent that Wyverns and Dragons find incredibly unpleasant and they also instruct them on proper identification and how to find/be on the look out for nests and burrows.

The south however is gracious enough to provide you with an entire herd of their most dependable and delicious livestock: The Giant Maui

The Weeping Sage. Pictured as he himself feeds a bird allegorical to the Zizz.
What two colors should I include in it? A blue of some sort seems natural. Lighter blue perhaps? But the Zizz is a dizzying red? and its card features Red and Blue prominently as well. But it would be a good Parallel to include.

I was thinking of pushing rituals of adulthood in the next voting round. Basic stuff that teenagers would undertake to enter into adulthood and receive their first tatoos, trials like climbing the volcano and meditating there, crafting a canoe from a tree you harvest yourself and then rowing out into the sea and catching fish so that our civ doesn't get too fat and lazy now that a large part of the population is city dwelling.

Maybe some extra hard ones to help encourage the creation of new heroes too.

The islands have produced people that are thoroughly lazy as has been demonstrated by the industrial progress and innovation witness within the south: Your people do not like "hard work" and they are more motivated and de-motivated by their personal goals, hobbies, and past-times than actual honest to god hard work.

This has translated into a unique style of work ethic that even the south is quick to adapt: Assemblee management. Your people through out history have solved their public problems by constantly cycling through the uninterested with the interested as projects and commissions ships ownership potentially dozens of times. This.. doesn't always guarantee "quality", but it does guarantee increased production: individuals breaking up to craft or work on individual pieces or parts of a project.

Though, one new invention has been made:

Like >>39572431 said we are too big for that sort of thing. Its very much a "single Kingdom" or Village or tribe style thing to invent. You gotta think bigger. We need to create a "new office" or New profession with which to tie into adulthood.

"Join the Army Today!" is basically one of those things that begs people to "do it! Man up! It'll make a man out of you."

Something more applicable to our civ might be Spell smithing, Hymns, or going to college. But a lot of that is doing stuff we do already..

I'd say lets make it a Pilgrimage of some sort. encourage prospective youngsters to head out into the world. A youngster from the Home Islands going to the Plains to settle would be a dramatic transition. A Plains/Myceas grove settling into the south pole or going to trade with kenku in person would be harrowing.

All this might help us settle lands, or engender good will/communication with foreigners.

A lot of our early strides with the gorgons was made through Pilgrimages to their cities wherein we tried to fix things up and make their lives better. Maybe something of a similar bent could be in order. Good samaritian trips. If slavery is a problem encourage them to be abolitionists. If Poverty is a problem, you go out on pilgrimage to help out.

There is one thing the Parrats have manage to retain in their long, tired, history of subjugation and un-consenting creation: their sense almost rat-like nature of secrecy: your people are not able to find the current indigenous home of the Sapient Parrats and it seems it might elude you for a while, but one thing your people are able to find is the ones you've released.
They hadn't actually gone to the City like the Kenku had predicted; they've been living inside the Greenhouse by the observatory in a small discreet and hidden shanty town of their own construction that resembles just a conglomeration of woven nests in some trees.

They can only see them through the Glass though: The Plant constructs politely insist that no one is to disturb their masters work and that includes any intrusion into the greenhouses Gardens. Even more annoying is the plant servants do not seem to identify the parrats as intruders and accept them as denizens of the greenhouse.

The Salt in your wounds though was you've seen first hand the plant servants brushing, feeding, providing warm rocks, sowing the parrats small articles of clothing and allowing them to come and go from the greenhouse as they please.

The Parrats however have created a god. Its not "their own" god but it was birthed from their actions at the end of the Parrat Purge.

Abyzousithis The Pale Lady and Goddess of Misscarriages, Revenge, and Rotten Eggs. Birthed when the first Manaia cursed an entire generation of gorgon eggs to die, Old Testament Style.

She is their god.

There's something... weird going on about the nature of spirits and gods and demons and monsters in this setting.

Spirits and monsters are physical expressions of some collective dreamscape as forged by us. Like a sentient's belief or soul feeds gods or creates spirits.

Demons Demigods and Gods, are bigger more singular versions of spirits and monsters.

The Spotlight feeds into a long flowing gown that hides most of her lower body and stops at her collar. From there her collar grows forth a mane of short, fat, featureless tentacles while her form is that of a very delicate and wide-eyed female. Her eyes are large and expressive, marked by distinctive red rings, and very sensitive irises that constantly widen and shrink as she peers around. Her hair is long, straight, and gray; with the odd soft, fat, floppy tentacle extending forth from her head that is topped by one asymetric black, ivory-like, curved, horn from one side of her forehead.
Her most distinct features though are her crab-like claws, she possess two pairs: One pair that grow from her shoulder blades- they are small, pitiable, and vestigial. The other pair grow right out from her wrists and appear to have consumed her thumbs, pointer and pinky fingers- leaving only her two middle fingers left behind.

Her face is soft and sad; every breath she takes is almost into itself a sigh of discomfort as her large breasts lift and lower the soft tentacles that rest upon it.

She seems to visibly wince at the sight of Gorgons, "Y-yes?".

The otherworldly spotlight begins to fade and her image starts de-materializing as the light breaks up, shatters, and wafts away- before she goes however the oldest Cyclopean sages present frantically try to explain the importance of sexual education through a mix of shouting and charades; they feel it is important the two do not rush into things even if Foliatom is a kind and responsible young demigod.

The Audience with Abyzousithis has motivated your people; they find her a sweet and charming girl for the most part.. if albeit a little difficult to look at or experience at times and people have fond memories of other outsiders as well: Akalade and Foliatom for one and now Abyzousthis has made herself known. The sage council unanimously agrees that a Monolith shall be erected to honor so many other worldly friends and the place they deem the most appropriate is the Observatory.

The problem with this plan though is that the observatory is still very much up to it's armpits in plant people: They've since overgrown and extended their reach and now the neighboring village can't leave either. Your own people at the observatory made them: Akalade showed them how and your people perfected the process. There are now hundreds of little plant humanoids scuttling around doing everything for them.

They're almost at maximum capacity; if it weren't for gong farmers we'd be in deep shit. Literally. The only consolation is that Cyclopes shit and Gorgon Shit isn't as bad as Human Shit.

Yes. That happened. The plant outbreak though has halted it and those towns are mostly used to provide material and equipment for the observatory and the Province of Mycea's Grove.

There's been no interest so far and it'd be an uphill battle: your climate is wrong and you've never farmed grain before. The changelings have though.
