You are Siegfried Schmidt, a former guard from the city of Morsland. Due to various circumstances, you have become the temporary wielder of Galadriel, a holy sword which houses a powerful six-winged angel of the same name. Now you have come to the White Watchtower, a fortress close to the border between the Forsaken Lands and the kingdom of Iseria, to train with the crusaders so that you can protect yourself from the demons that might come after you now that the sword is in your possession.

Following after the clouds, you spoke with Galadriel about Andras and his intentions, and predicted that the town he would most likely attack was Morsland. Moving quickly, you and the rest of the honor guard made your way towards your hometown, alerting any villages you came across along the way to hide until the clouds passed. After arriving, you informed Captain Gregory about the incoming invasion, and mobilized to evacuate the town's civilians to the Lord-Governor's castle, where you would make your stand against the demonic incursion. Splitting up, you sent part of your team to find Arniel and the people from Ganelon's order while you, Justine, and Nerillian went to find your family. After waking them up, you grabbed all the weapons you could find in the workshop and brought them with you to help arm the town's civilian volunteers. However, the demonic clouds arrived before you could make it to the castle, so you gave your family the barrels of weapons you'd brought and cast Haste to make their escape faster, while you and the others stood back to buy them time to run.

The dark clouds pass over the city's edge, releasing their hidden hordes of demons on the city. Thunder booms overhead as they descend, scattered all across the city. They expected to catch the city by surprise, to attack while everyone slept, but they will find the town empty. You wager it won't be long before they realize their surprise attack failed, and they find the castle where everyone has prepared to fight. You have to get there quickly, before the fighting begins. But first, you'll have to deal with these two, who seem to have noticed you and your companions on the street.

"We need to kill these two quickly, before more notice us." Justine warns you, already fallen into her usual fighting stance. Nerillian is already knocking an arrow, taking aim at one of the flying demons.

The demons in question are both carrying scythes in one hand. Their eyes are covered by some metal plate, and their ribcages are exposed, as though something had ripped the skin off their chests. Each has four horns, and tattered wings which hold them in the air despite their apparent damage.

'Beware, Siegfried, those two are Warlocks.' Galadriel advises you from the back of your mind. 'They may seem injured, but do not be fooled. Watch out for their spells, they're one of the few wrath demons with the mental capacity to cast them.'

The Warlocks let out a loud screech that almost forces you to cover your ears, then one of them grabs it's scythe in both hands and descends, while the other hovers above and seems to charge a spell. Despite the metal plate blocking their eyes, they seem to know exactly where you and the others are standing.

"Watch out for the flying one, it's trying to cast a spell" You advise, before shifting Galadriel into a bow and drawing it's string as far back as you can. Aiming for the casting Warlocks heart, which you can see past it's exposed ribcage, you let the arrow fly.

The arrow hits, but it is prevented from striking the Warlock's heart by some unseen force, possibly a ward. Your arrow is soon joined by another, as Nerillian fires an arrow and hits the flying Warlock in the throat. The duo of arrows interrupts the Warlock's casting, which hisses in anger. It now casts another spell, this one with almost no charge time, and is surrounded by a sphere of force. Once again, it starts charging another spell.

Meanwhile, the Warlock on the ground fights with Justine. The Warlock's size gives it an advantage, but Justine manages to duck past it's scythe and land a couple stabs in the beast's side.

You pull the bowstring back again, another arrow of light forming as you do so, and fire off at the casting demon again. The arrow is caught on the force sphere surrounding it, but leaves multiple cracks in the sphere. Nerillian follows up with another arrow, causing the sphere to shatter. The demon, still in the middle of it's spell, cannot stop to throw up another one, so it starts to fly in an evasive pattern while it tries to finish it's spell.

The Warlock on the ground notices it's ally's plight, and disengages Justine to attack you and Nerillian. However, Justine is not willing to let the Warlock go so easily, and stabs it in the back when it tries to leave. You notice the spearhead stab through the demon's back, becoming visible in the Warlock's ribcage. Though it hits nothing vital, it goes through a space in it's ribcage until it hits the ward protecting it. Is the exposed ribcage some sort of trick? Justine's spear had no trouble going through the Warlock's back, is it exposed so people will target it and be stopped by the wards?

While Justine keeps the Warlock on the ground distracted, you and Nerillian aim for the airborne Warlock again. Thinking to test your theory, you aim for the Warlock's neck, no easy task considering it's evasive movements, and fire.

To your surprise, the arrow finds it's mark, burying itself in the Warlock's windpipe, right next to the arrow Nerillian fired earlier. The Warlock grasps at it's throat, and then another arrow from Nerillian flies into the demon's open maw and into it's brain, sending it crashing down to earth. One down, one to go.

The remaining Warlock spins around and smacks Justine aside, spear still embedded in it's back. Now unarmed, Justine tries to evade the demon's scythe while she looks for a chance to take back her spear.

While the remaining Warlock is busy swinging at Justine, you shift Galadriel into a halberd and sneak closer for a surprise attack.

Justine does her best to avoid the Warlock's attacks, but eventually the Warlock catches her by swinging low and tripping her off her feet. Before she can move out of the way, the Warlock pins her down under one of it's feet and raises it's scythe to finish it off.

"Surprise!"

While the Warlock's scythe is over it's head, you stab the point of your halberd into the back of the Warlock's head. No wards block your attack, as Galadriel pierces the demon's brain. It staggers, then falls backwards onto the spear still embedded in it's back, shattering through the wards and all the way through the space in it's ribcage.

With the Warlock pinning her down dead, Justine shifts the demon's foot off of her and sits up. She breathes a sigh of relief, then picks herself up and retrieves her spear from the Warlock's ribcage.

"Thanks for the save." She says, trying to sound calm. "Now we should hurry, before more find us."

You nod in agreement. "You're right, let's get moving before more show up."

By now, the black clouds have begun to dissipate, meaning all the demons inside have probably all landed within the city by now. You need to get to the castle fast, so you mutter the incantation for Haste and cast it on yourself and the others. When everyone's feet start to glow, you know the spell is now in effect and motion for everyone to follow you as you run.

While navigating the streets on your way to the castle, you consider that Justine was fighting a Warlock on the ground while you and Nerillian were focused on the one in the air. As such, you didn't pay close attention to their fighting, and it dawns on you that she might have been hit while you were distracted and you didn't notice. So, while running down an empty street, you turn to Justine, who is running beside you, and ask if she's alright.

"I forgot to ask earlier, are you alright? You were stuck dealing with one demon on the ground, do you need healing or anything?"

Justine shakes her head. "No, I'm fine. You don't need to worry about-"

Just then, Nerillian comes to a sudden halt. You and Justine, going as fast as you were, stop about 10 feet from where he stopped and look back to see what's wrong. He only points towards an alley and motions for you to follow.

You do so, following him into the alley where he stands against the wall at the edge and motions for you both to stay back.

"What's wron-"

"Shh!" He hushes, peaking over the side. Suddenly, you hear something loud coming from down the street. Thump, thump, thump...It gets louder and louder until you peek across the side yourself and see the source.

A familiar sight greets you on the streets, a large demon with two large horns and red leathery wings crosses the street ahead of you. It's head is wreathed in fire and it's eyes are red and pupiless. You recognize it as an Astaroth demon, much like the one you saw while training with Galadriel, though this one carries a heavy hammer rather than a flaming scythe like the one you fought. It holds it's hammer, also wreathed in flames, in both it's hands and sniffs the air curiously. It growls in discontent, before it continues down the streets it's on. Eventually, the sound of heavy footsteps fades, and Nerillian gives the all-clear to move again. Thankfully, the streets the Astaroth is on does not lead to the castle, so you run down the correct road and lead the others towards the Lord-Governor's castle, hoping you don't run into any more before you get there.

-----
Thankfully, the rest of the way there is as peaceful as you'd hoped. Before long you find yourselves in front of the castle gates. Large stone walls circle the castle, and the entrance is blocked by a heavy portcullis. You see guards and what looks like normal civilians standing on top of the walls with bows and crossbows, though when they notice you they raise the portcullis and let you in. As soon as the three of you are inside, the portcullis comes back down again.

The castle's courtyard is filled with guards and a few people in normal clothing. You'd guess they're the civilians that volunteered to help. Each of them is armed with some sort of weapon, be it a sword and shield or a spear, which they seem to be getting from one of three barrels sitting around the courtyard. Seems your family got here just fine. The doors inside the castle are sealed for now, likely because the rest of the civilians are hiding inside.
>>
>>39591766
"It won't be long before the demons figure out what's going on and attack." Nerillian advises you. "We should meet up with the others and make any sort of preparations now while we still have time."

Your first thought is to find Captain Gregory. As captain of the guard, he'll be the one leading the defense, so you should speak with him.

Captain Gregory is currently drilling a large group of volunteers, doing his best to make them ready for the incoming attack.

"Keep your spears up, dammit! They can't hit you if they can't reach you. Stick together, you need to work in unison to keep the spear wall up. One spear is a problem, thirty at once will skewer those bastards long before they get to you."

When the captain sees you approach, he nods to one of his lieutenants and leaves the drill in his care. Upon closer inspection, you realize the lieutenant in question is Fredrick, the captain's son and your sister's husband.

"For a moment I was wondering if you'd gotten lost." The captain says to you. "Your folks got here not too long ago, carrying entire barrels of weapons with them. Fredrick was relieved to see them, and I was relieved to see these volunteers wouldn't have to fight bare handed."

"Then they got here safe and sound?" You ask.

Gregory nods. "They're inside the castle now, safe and sound. Or at least as close to it as any of us are." He looks past you as he says this. Following his gaze, you see that columns of smoke are starting to rise in the distance.

"Won't be long now before they get here." He mutters with a scowl. "If you need something, make it quick. There's a lot we need to do and not a lot of time to get it done."

"What sort of defenses do we have here?"

The captain points to the archers standing on top of the walls. "We've got archers standing there, with a few spearmen in case any of them try to fly over and snatch them away. Besides that, we've got a few priests and some men in armor making holy water, which we'll be dropping down on their heads. There's two alchemists that came here with your friends working on bombs as well, and some of the priests from the church volunteered to be combat medics. Finally, I've armed a few men inside the castle in case they manage to break in. Void willing, it won't come to that."

"Where are the healers at?"

"The healers over there, with the alchemists and the men in armor that came with your friends. Some of them are staying behind, while others will be out fighting with the rest of us."

"Where do you need us to go, sir?"

"Your friend with the bow should go onto the wall with the rest of the archers. The one with the spear should stick with the spearmen. Since you're carrying the sword, or halberd, I need you on the front. Just be ready to charge when we raise the portcullis. Anything else, or can I get back to what I'm doing?"

"One last thing sir. While we were on our way here, we ran into a few demons I think you should know about. One of them is Warlocks, the ones that look half-dead. Tell everyone not to aim for their exposed ribs, it's protected by magic. The other is Astaroths, those big ones with the fiery heads. Tell everyone to fight in groups of three or five at least, and if the heat around the fiery ones starts building they need to either kill them quickly or get out of there before they explode. The archers should probably aim for them first."

The captain sighs. "Great, now the damned things can explode. I'll inform them, but right now I need to go. You should get moving as well."
>>
>>39593228
With that, the captain heads back to the drilling volunteers. "Alright everyone, listen up! Some new information's come in, you better listen if you want to get out of this alive..."

Leaving the captain to his work, you notice the columns of smoke rising higher. Looks like you don't have much time now before the first wave of demons shows up.

>>39593251
Well then, first things first. If the demons will be here soon, you need to find the rest of your honor guard before they get here.

You spend some time wandering the courtyard, trying to find them. Right as you're starting to wonder if you'll find them in time, you hear someone call out your name behind you.

"Siegfried?"

Turning around, you see Erika, Roland, Ganelon, and Joan as well as two other people wearing surcoats similar to Ganelon's.

"Thank Aureus. We were starting to wonder if something went wrong." Erika says. "Where the Void were you three?"

"We went to find Siegfrieds parents. While we were there, we gathered as many weapons as we could and came here. The invasion hit before we could make it back here though, so we sent his family here while we held off two demons that spotted us on the streets." Justine explains.

"So that's where all the weapons came from." Roland realizes.

"I am glad to hear that your family made it here safely." Ganelon comments. "The rest of us managed to find the alchemist and his companion like you asked, as well as the men from my order." He gestures to the two men wearing the Order of the Righteous Blade's surcoats. "These are Rickert and Ogier. They and the others will be joining us in battle today."

"Hail Champion."

"A pleasure, Champion."

You wince a little at the mention of champion, but say nothing. You notice that these two speak in a very polite way like Ganelon does. For that matter, their names sound very old fashioned, much like Ganelon's name. Maybe old names are popular in Belmore or something, though then again your own name is pretty old fashioned as well, it could just be a coincidence.

"Has the captain told you where to go yet?" Joan asks through her familiar, Berry.

"Yeah, he wants Justine in the spearmen division, and Nerilian on the wall with the archers. He just told me to head to the front."

"Then as you honor guard, we shall accompany you at the front as well." Ganelon says.
>>
>>39594258
Before much else can be said, you hear a bell ring loudly across the courtyard. "Incoming! They're heading our way!" Someone yells from atop the walls. You can hear Gregory shout directions to all the soldiers, directing them to the gate. You and everyone else follows suit, either following you to the front or heading for whatever division they were told to join. Roland joins Justine in the spearman division, while Nerillian climbs the ladder up the wall to join the archers. Erika, Joan, Ganelon, and the two others from his order follow you to the front of the line, waiting for them to open the portcullis and give the order to charge.

>>39594290
Before the order to charge is given, you talk strategy with the others.

"Watch out for any demons with their ribs exposed. Their ribs are warded, so aim for the head. And if you see any demons with fire on their heads, be careful if the heat around them starts building. They do that before they explode, so if you feel the air start getting hotter and hotter, either get out of the way or kill them quickly before they can explode. Oh yeah, and Joan, stay back and cast support spells if you can."

Joan frowns and speaks through Berry. "Squawk! Support isn't really my thing, but I can try."

"My companions and I know a few support spells. We can also cast them if need be."

"Good. Other than that, everyone try to stick together, and if you run into Andras, don't try to block his attacks. His weapon can channel lightning, so it's best to try and avoid his attack outright if you're wearing metal armor."

With that, the bell rings again and the portcullis starts to rise. You see hordes of demons charging towards the castle, while others fly above their grounded allies. The hordes let out a deafening collection of roars, anticipating the coming bloodshed.

"Don't be afraid!" The captain shouts from the front, fully armored and wielding his large axe. "Demons or not, they still bleed when you stab them! Remember your loved ones in the castle and show them what happens when you fuck with Morsland! CHARGE!"

You and everyone else in the line charges forward, meeting the demons in front of the gates. The scene is absolute chaos, as both sides clash and the sound of ringing metal and stone-shattering strikes can be heard between shouts and inhuman screeching. Joan begins charging a spell behind you, while Erika, Ganelon, Rickert, and Ogier attack a Warlock that was casting a spell on the ground. You are about to join the battle as well, before you hear the swish of something heavy swinging towards you.

'Watch out!' Galadriel warns, a fraction too late.

Before you can move completely out of the way, a flaming sword grazes your side. You managed to move enough to avoid the full force of the attack, but it still stings.

You get into a fighting stance and wait for the Astaroth to attack again. This time it brings it's sword over it's head and swings straight down towards you. Seeing the attack coming from a mile away, you charge forward and jump to the side at the last second, before swinging your halberd as hard as you can at the Astaroth's legs. You swear you feel the halberd sever a tendon in it's left leg, and the demon's howl of pain assures you that you did indeed.

Ganelon, Rickert, and Ogier are busy fighting the Warlock, but Erika notices your fight with the Astaroth and comes to help. Meanwhile, Joan finishes casting her spell. You feel the familiar sensation of lightness that comes with a Haste spell, and see that Erika and the others feet are glowing, signaling that they are also under the spell's effects.

With the Astaroth on one knee, you switch Galadriel into a two-handed hammer and circle around to it's front. Just as the heat around it starts to slowly build, you swing the hammer as hard as you can onto the demon's knee, making it fall face-first onto the ground and then, with the aid of Haste, you swiftly bring the hammer down onto the Astaroth's head, smashing it to pieces. The heat in the air fades, ensuring you that the Astaroth is not going to explode now.

Erika, arriving a tad to late to help you, covers your back. Ganelon and his compatriots deal a killing blow to the Warlock, and then join you as well Joan begins casting another spell with the help of Berry.

In the fighting, you see Captain Gregory singing his axe at another Astaroth demon, this one wielding a large hammer. Whether it's the same one as earlier or not you have no idea. At about the same time you notice this, you see another Warlock flying overhead, charging a spell.

Both find their mark in the Warlock's throat, not only canceling his spell but sending him falling down to earth. He crash lands on his back about 6 feet in front of you and your allies. The others quickly finish him off, while Joan finishes casting her spell. When she does, you feel some strange sensation come over yourself. You don't know what the spell's effect is yet, but it must be something beneficial.

Meanwhile, the fight between Gregory and the Astaroth continues. Gregory swings his axe down on the demon's arm, severing it off at the elbow, much like a certain other demon you know of. However, the demon responds by swinging it's massive hammer at the captain with one hand, knocking him off his feet and sending him several feet away.

Switching Galadriel back into halberd form, you charge at the Astaroth attacking your old captain. The Astaroth sees you approach, and swing it's hammer horizontally at you. With the aid of Haste and the enchantment on your clothes, you manage to clear past his swing before it can hit you, then stab Galadriel towards his gut.

Curiously, as soon as you stab the Astaroth, the spot where he was hit starts to freeze over. You can still hear the sound of Galadriel burning his skin, but at the same time the area around his wound starts to freeze over even as Galadriel burns him. This must be what Joan's spell did.

Not wasting any time, you strike again with Galadriel, this time slicing into his remaining arm. It freezes over as well and shatters, causing his massive hammer to fall to the ground. You would think that would be the end of the battle, but instead the Astaroth swings it's horned head at you and tries to kick you, all the while the air starting to grow hot.

Feeling the heat in the air rise, you realize that you have to kill this thing fast, before it explodes and takes you with it. The next time it tries to headbutt you, you slice across it's face with Galadriel. When you do, the flame on it's head goes out, and it's head begins to freeze over. With another swing, you shatter it's frozen head, killing it. The air cools down, and you breath a sigh of relief.

The captain, knocked aside by the Astaroth demon's hammer, picks himself up using his axe as an aid. You see he is bleeding from his head, but that does not seem to deter him at all.

"Fancy trick that." He says. Everyone is about to head back into battle, when you hear another loud boom of thunder and lightning cracks overhead, striking the ground nearby. You hear screaming come from that direction, making you think some poor souls were got in the blast.

"Siegfried!" You hear a familiar voice shout over the sounds of battle. Looks like Andras has finally decided to show himself.

"You four, sneak around behind Andras and attack him while I keep him distracted."

"I'll help you fight." Gregory offers.

You shake your head. "No sir, you're needed here, leading the front. Let us handle Andras.

The captain furrows his eyebrows, but nods. "Fine, you may have a point. Make him pay for attacking Morsland for me."

"Will do sir." You tell him, before you and the others split up, you heading straight to the source while they do their best to circle around.

Approaching the source of the shouting, you arrive in time to see Andras finishing off some poor bastard that got in over his head. Wearing the same black armor as before and still missing his left arm, Andras turns to face you when you come into view. His face is hidden by his helmet, but you can almost feel him grinning. He points his greatsword at you, which he still wields despite missing his second arm.

"There you are. It's about time you showed yourself."

"Well hello Andras." You respond with a fake smile. "How's the arm doing? Note I said arm, singular."

"About as well as your home." He says, making a wide gesture to the columns of smoke rising from the city.

You grit your teeth. The last time you met Andras he sliced open your guts, and now he's burning your hometown and aiming for the civilians hiding inside the castle. Needless to say, he really pisses you off. Still, you need to keep him distracted a little longer until the others attack from behind.

>"My home is just fine. Everybody's safe and sound inside the castle, and they're going to stay that way."
>"Surprised Malaphas didn't kill you after you lost your arm. I hear he doesn't handle failure well, and I can't think of many failures worst than getting your arm chopped off by some jackass in the guard."

"You know, I've been meaning to ask you about that whole situation months ago. How in the Void the the previous Champion and demon general get his arm cut off by an easily telegraphed attack from a jackass in the guard who could barely lift the damn sword? Maybe your body isn't the only thing that's crippled, eh?" You tap your head for emphasis.

You see Andras's red eyes narrow and notice his grip on his sword tighten. That definitely pissed him right off.

"You think because of a lucky strike that I am weak? That I am incompetent? I will prove otherwise when I rip Galadriel from your cold dead hands."

Just as he finishes that threat, your friends spring their trap. From behind, they swing their weapons at him as hard as they can. Ganelon's mace smashes his remaining arm, bending it the opposite way at the elbow. Rickert stabs him through the gut with his longsword. Ogier cleaves into his left shoulder with his battleaxe. Finally, Erika swing her greatsword at the former champion's neck, severing his head from his neck. The body crumples to the ground, releasing it's hold on the weapon in his hand.

"Take that you son of a bitch." Erika swears, stepping over the body and returning to your side. "Man, I can't believe I got onto you last time when you did that."

'But first, I shall deal with these pests.' You hear a foreign voice say from within your head. You can feel Galadriel grow alarmed, and you so do you when you realize who's voice that was.
>>
>>39599182
Before you can warn them, Adras reaches out and grabs Rickert by the leg. A surge of electricity courses through the knight's body, before he crumples to the ground, smoke rising from his body. Before the others can respond, Andras is on his feet again, and swings Rickert's body at Ganelon and Ogier, knocking both aside. Dropping Rickert, Andras's body retrieves his lost head and replaces it on his shoulders, then cracks his bones back into place and retrieves his sword. Already you can see that his head has reattached itself and his wounds, though not fully healed, are quickly regenerating.

It seems easy is the last word you'd use for this fight.

"First your arm and now your head. What's next, your dignity? Wait, sorry, you already lost that too." You insult him.

"You have grown too cocky since picking up Galadriel. I'll be more than happy to cut you down to size again."

"We'll see about that." You respond, quickly muttering the incantation for Haste and casting it on yourself and Erika. The two of you spread out, then you wait for Andras to come to you.

"Come on, traitor. Let's do this."

He's happy to oblige, rushing forward with a swing of his greatsword, the same one that nearly killed you not long ago. His first swing is fast, so fast you just barely move away in time even with the effects of Haste and your clothing's enchantment. You feel the charged air around it as it swipes past your face, before you counter-attack with Galadriel in halberd form. The first strike is just a superficial wound to his side, while the second is a decent stab to his left leg. He quickly disengages, jumping away before you can land a third strike.

As he jumps back, Erika rushes in to attack as well. With the aid of haste, she's able to cut him twice in the stomach, before he blocks her greatsword with his own.

"I have no patience for you today, crusader. You got in my way at the festival, I will not deal with you again today."

With that, he twists his sword and knocks Erika's blade out of her hands, before kicking her to the side.

'Now then, this fight will be between me, you, and that accursed angel only.' He says from within your mind. Galadriel's earlier panic is now replaced with anger, both at the intrusion and at the insult.

Somehow, Andras is able to speak with you telepathically just like Galadriel. Does the connection go both ways?

'What? Your head so fucked up from repeated stabbings and decapitations you need to use mine to comminicate?' You taunt him mentally. He swings at you again after you do, meaning he can hear you as well as you can hear him after all.

'I am going to rip that crude tongue of yours out myself.' He threatens.

'How are you speaking here?' Galadriel demands, finally speaking up.

'Though you abandoned me, the bonds between us is not so easily severed, Galadriel.'

'I abandoned you because you became something as bad as the demons we fought. I should never have chosen you.'

'I did what was necessary. We may have conquered the Forsaken Lands had you not betrayed me.'

'You betrayed us, not the other way around!'

'Excuse me.' You interrupt the two in your head. 'Sorry to interrupt your little discussion, but I don't like uninvited guests, so-'

You avoid one of Andras's attacks and swing Galadriel towards his heart. He blocks it just in time, so you follow it up with a swing. Unfortunately, Andras jumps back to avoid the halberd swing, and then swing his greatsword into your side. Though not a mortal blow, you can't help but shout in pain as electricity courses through your body after the sword makes contact.

>18/30 HP remaining

By the Void, that one really hurt. Had you been hit like that while you were still a guard, you may very well have died. Well, technically you were, though you survived thanks to Arniel and Daniel.

'Is this the best your new champion can do? You've been her champion for over a month now, you should be stronger than this.'

If this is how hard he hits, you'll need all the strength you can get to beat him. Drawing on Galadriel's strength once again, you feel yourself grow stronger as a warm glowing light spreads from Galadriel into your arm, then all over. Once it's finished, you switch Galadriel into her normal sword form and activate your glove, bringing your father's shield to your left hand.

'So, you've tapped into her powers after all. But how much of her strength can you muster?'

You answer him, by swing Galadriel down on him as hard as you can. Rather than block, Andras is smart enough to move out of the way. You attack misses, cracking the stone where Andras once stood with the force of your blow. However, Haste is still in effect, so you swiftly pull Galadriel out of the stone and swing wide at Andras.

This time, Andras ducks under your attack, and counterattacks with his own swing. His sword bites into your left leg and electricty courses through you once again.

>8/30 HP remaining

Though your injury isn't bad enough to keep you from walking, it hurts to put weight on your leg now. If Haste were not in effect, you might move too slow to keep up with Andras because of it.

'Where is your confidence from before, "Champion"? Surely the man Galadriel chose to protect her should be better than this.'

You grit your teeth and glare at Andras. You're not sure how much longer you can keep this up, but you know for sure you can't afford to take another hit like that. You need to think of something, and fast.

>13/30 HP remaining

'Potions won't save you now, Siegfried.' Andras claims. 'Death awaits all who become Champion. You are no exception.'

Your grip on Galadriel tightens, and you try desperately to think of a way to defend yourself, when something strange happens. Galadriel begins to glow, the engravings on her blade of angels and men slaying demons almost seem to move. You're not sure what's happening, but you can't help but feel confident, your fear quickly melting away.

"Death awaits all who become Champion. You are no exception." As whatever power you've activated works it's magic, you mull over Andras's words. Then, with a firm grip and a confident smile, you look him in the eyes and respond.

"Then neither are you."

Whatever's going on, you feel as though someone were guiding your hand as you attack. Andras avoids the first two attack, but on the third you swing low, severing his left leg at the knee. Galadriel passes through armor and bone effortlessly, like a hot knife through butter. Before he's even hit the ground, you swing again, severing his other leg at the knee as well.

Andras's screams are almost inhuman, as though someone layered a demon's roar underneath a normal man's scream. He falls to the ground, now missing two legs and an arm.

Just then, you hear a horn in the distance. It sounds off again, this time closer, and you think you hear hooves. As if on cue, the others begin to stir again, and both Justine, Roland, and Joan finds their way to you. Where Joan disappeared to before the fight with Andras, you're not sure.

With Andras crippled completely though, you feel whatever sensation came over you fade away as quickly as it came. Galadriel returns to her normal sheen, and the etchings on her blade are still once more. You wonder what that was all about, but right now you have more pressing matters, namely finishing off Andras.

Bringing Galadriel up for the final blow, Andras let's out one last scream of rage and lightning strikes him, nearly hitting you in the process. You shield your eyes from the sudden flash of light, and when you look again you see that Andras is gone, only a scorch in the stone left where he was. Did he self destruct? Escape? You're not sure, but for some reason you suddenly feel very light-headed...

Well regardless, a new crusade will happen now.

With a full demon invasion of a large town the nations can no longer pretend that the demons are not an issue.

I am just surprised that magic is so rarely taught. I would think it would be spread more, simple light spells in larger towns.

Before you know what's happening, you start to fall backwards. Thankfully, someone catches you before you fall too far, dropping their weapon to do so.

"Aureus dammit man, I told you to stay safe, and the first thing I see is you nearly fainting in the middle of a battle."

You blink, trying to clear the fog out of your eyes. When they come into focus, you recognize a familiar face.

"Reinhardt?"

"In the flesh. Now snap out of it "hero", we're not safe yet."

"I don't know about that, look." You hear Berry caw. When you stand back up and look, you see hundreds of people in white armor riding horses towards you. The White Watchtower has arrived, and are currently engaging any left over demons. Before long, the remaining demons wise up and fly away, some escaping while others are shot down with arrows.

Cheers can be heard all around from Morsland's people as the demons leave. The first demon battle in over 200 years, and it's a victory for Iseria. For Morsland.

"There you are!" You hear someone shout. Two figures dismount their horses and run in your direction. It doesn't take long for you to recognize them as Daniel and Knight-Captain Laurentius.

"We came as quickly as we could." Laurentius explains while Daniel gets to work healing your wounds. "Are you all alright?"

>"Better than Andras, that's for sure."
>"I dunno, am I? It's kind of hard to tell right now."
>"Void no. That hurt almost as bad as the last time I fought Andras."
>"I'm fine, no need to worry. What about everyone else, are you all alright?"

nah i can see him just saying

"walk it off"

I see Alastor mocking Andras and then offering him some power with Malaphas blessing to finally kill Siegfried.

Or die trying. Andras might as well be a rage demon now.

It'd be great if we decide to send him a pair of peg legs and a hook hand back to him with an imp.

I know it won't happen, but still, I can dream...
>>
so in light of Andras shrugging off multiple amputations well enough to knock them all away, should everyone just have bottles of holy water to throw at him?

"Better than Andras, that's for sure. But Void no, that hurt almost as bad as the last time I fought Andras."

"You managed to fight Andras off on your own?" Laurentius asks, surprised.

"Pretty much." Erika confesses. "We weren't really much help against him."

"Siegfried's from Morsland. It'll take a lot more then that shit-head to do him in." Reinhardt adds.

"How did it end? Did you kill him?"

You think about your answer. Did you? You cut off both his legs, if he is alive then he's not going to be much of a threat now, but you doubt he's actually dead.

"No sir. I cut off both his legs, but I he managed to escape in a bolt of lightning."

Laurentius frowns. "Then he is still out there, and we must be wary of him. But at least now we know you can stand up to him."

"We'll worry about that later." Daniel says. "For now, we can at least breath easy knowing the city is safe now."

"Indeed. For now, I want everyone who can heal to treat the wounded. The rest of you, come with us. Is your old Captain here?"

"Yes sir."

"Good. Then we should speak with him. After that, you should get some rest. You've earned it."

You nod and make a few wobbly steps towards the castle before Erika and Reinhardt lend you their shoulders to help you get there. You're injured and tired, but at least your alive, and now Morsland is safe.

-------
"I told you, that kid is tougher than you all think."

Alastor stands aside three other demons in Malaphas's throne room. In the center lies Andras, or what's left of him at least. Missing an arm and both legs, Alastor can't help but laugh at how far the cocky little shit's fallen.
>>
>>39602842
"If he's already strong enough to stand up to Andras, then we should take action." The only female demon in the room suggests.

"There is no need. Either his own people will kill him for us, or he'll come to us." A three-headed demon claims.

"Indeed. His town may be safe, but already they fear another attack. They fear us, and fear what this new champion brings. I can taste it even from here." An winged demon in heavy armor agrees.

"Even so, I want to be sure. Lilith, have you maintained contact with our friend in Iseria?"

"I've received their last report just yesterday, my lord."

"Good. See if you can speed up the process somewhat. They will be calling for Crusade soon, it would be best to strike while they are moving to seek support."

"That's well and good, but what do we do with this guy?" Alastor asks, pointing a claw at Andras lying on the floor. "Can I eat him? He's always been a pain in the ass anyways."

"No, do not eat him Alastor. I have ideas for him, if I have your permission my lord."

"What do you plan to do, Balaam?"

"Make him stronger. If I succeed, then we have an even more powerful ally to use at your discretion. If not, well, he's not much use to us now anyways."

"I see. Very well then, you may do with him as you wish."

"I thank you, my lord." The three-headed demon says with a slight bow. Moving to where Andras lies on the floor, he picks up Andras's crippled body and exits the room.

"Get well soon, Andras." Alastor says sarcastically. "Personally I hope he just dies in the process, but who knows, maybe Balaam's tinkering will make him less annoying."

"We shall see what happens. However, if the crusades are to begin again, you should all begin preparations for war."

Alastor mulls over that word. "War...Malal, it's been too damn long since we've had one. And if that kid's from Iseria, he'll probably come knocking at my doorstep soon." Alastor grins, a sight that could give even the bravest man chills. "I'm already looking forward to it."

Alright, calling it a night here. Next thread should be either Monday or Friday unless something changes. Keep an eye on the twitter just in case.

I'll be around a while longer to answer question you you guys have any. Thanks for playing, hope you all had fun.

Also, how do you guys feel about the way I handled hero points, with a roll for effectiveness? Spending a hero point will always result in something really good, but I figured this way it's not just "We decapitate him and win".
>>
>>39602938
i like how you handled hero points it was well done
>>
>>39602938
it's certainly better than an auto-success on an action.

Considering how many demons died here, is there loot to be had?
>>
>>39602938
I actually really liked how you handled the hero point usage. It was powerful, but not overly so. Well done.

Thanks for running Sparks. I was fun as always.
>>
>>39602965
Lots of oversized armor and weapons, yes. Keep in mind, most of the demons here ranged from 7 to 10 feet tall. You could probably take some horns or fangs or something if you wanted to though, might be able to find some use for them.
>>
>>39602986
It*
>>
>>39602938
Thanks for the run boss.
>>
>>39602938
Sounds good, but you might want to limit the HP roll to ether 1 or 2 rolls.
>>
>>39602938
thanks for the thread Sparks, I like how the rolling for the HP determines the 'flavor' or them
>>
>>39603002
using the demon bits to make foci? perhaps a way to mask the casting of a spell as that from the enemy?
>>
>>39603002
I'm getting flashbacks to Oblivion again...

>Goddamn it, I need to get all this Daedric armor and weapons back to my house, but I'm so over encumbered. Is there a random chest or barrel or anything nearby?

(sigh)

How young I was.
>>
>>39603038
limiting it to 1 roll is stupid, 2 is a coin toss on how it goes, it would be pretty crap to leave how effective a goddamned Hero Point is to a coin toss, 3 rolls works, makes sure its suitably epic and gives some margin for error in the rolls without wasting the HP
>>
>>39602938
Oh, I almost forgot, would it be too much trouble to ask for you give an overall critique of my quest?

I've only got three threads so far, but I'd like another QM's perspective.
>>
>>39602902
I think I already answered that on the ask.fm. Balaam is Greed, Alastor is Wrath, Lilith is Pride, and Eligos is Fear.

>>39603050
Galadriel already works as a foci, though if you wanted you could see about making those into foci. Probably won't mask the spell though. Alternatively, they might have some sort of alchemical use, or some use in making weapons or armor.
>>
>>39603084
I haven't read it yet, but I'll give it a read over when I have time and get back to you on twitter.

Speaking of which, if anyone here has any critique for how I've done HSQ thus far, I'm always happy to hear it.
>>
>>39603088
foci for the others, really.

I'm guessing that alchemical reagents can't be used to supplement enchanting, or has that not been tried?
>>
>>39603118
Not enough Elven catgirl tits.
>>
>>39603118
alright thanks Sparks. I appreciate it
>>
>>39603088
I wasn't there, but were there lords of other things?

Like a lord of lust, a duke of perversion and sickness, a king of people who don't respect personal space?

And where there any others who held their titles before they got them?
>>
>>39603134
>Elven catgirl tits
look it either catgirl tits or elven tits you cant have both
>>
>>39603154
Can't we just stick a cat ear headband on an elf's head and clip a fuzzy tail on her pants and call it a day?
>>

then its still an elf with accessories on them.
>>

Omnipotence Quest.

>>
>>39603149
Originally there were lots of them, each representing something different. The demon lords were the first demons, born directly from the blood of Malal, and Malaphas was the first born of them all. Now there are only four left, the rest were killed in the Great Crusade. Galadriel was responsible for a few of their deaths.

Some of the old texts speak of a fifth demon lord, though today there are only four. No one knows what happened to him, or if he even existed. Hell, no one knows what he represented. Some people think it's just referring to Malaphas, while others think it refers to some lost demon lord no one knows about. No one knows which is true, but it's known for a fact that only four demon lords own land in the Forsaken Lands.
>>
Bit by bit, Andras is leaving the demons' service.
Maybe the demons will think he's trying to defect?
>>
>>39604036
Nah they probably think he is a bitch human that tried and failed to reach the ranks of the demons.
