>Summary:
You are techpriest Heracor Nahive. You were forcefully implanted a brain chip that made you into little more than a working drone, after escaping your homeworld you somehow got yourself into the Inquisitorial Cruiser “Speculum Animæ”.

>Main Mission:
- Become stronger and fight the Magus that installed the chip on your brain.
>>Secondary Missions:
- None
>>Optional Missions:
- Try to destroy the heretical information stored on your brain.

Question time!
>Alright, pretty much you players have finished the stuff that could be done on the ship but still have two weeks ( in game ) to spend. I have two starters ready, one were we continue doing stuff and the other were we timeskip to moments before leaving the warp.
>Which one should I start with?
>>
>>39629434
I want to hammer out stuff with Karelia, Mellizune and Liwet so the former.
>>
>>39629434
I wouldn't mind having those two weeks to spend pestering the inquisitor, the sisters and the space marine.

You wake on your comfy bed and look around you. Your personal room has now part of your soul on it, there are several Mechanicus robes hanging on the wardrobe and several icons and tools that showed both your devotion and your skill to the Omnissiah.

Overall you felt really happy. The mission of saving the frigate was a success, you also helped to show the true ways of the Omnissiah to the Skitarii temple and slowly started to turn them into true warriors instead of mechanic bullies, Liwet was finally awake and while her memories and past had been altered she seemed to be healthy and happy. There were thirteen days until the entrance into realspace came and the Cruiser arrived into the Charonis System.

You could say that methaporically you still had some string attached to you; you were still under the rules of the Cult Mechanicus, the orders of the Inquisitor and you also had to deal with the warriors of your temple but honestly you felt like a free man. Now that you think about it on your past days back in your forgeworld Telematha you were under so many people that your marionette strings were completely tangled and made you feel both confused and trapped.

Free time, a concept that most members of the Adeptus Mechanicus don’t really have nor understand. It was seven ante meridiem right now, there was plenty of things you could do right now.

>Spend time with any of the people you know. (Write who)
>Train in your temple, it will be really uplifting if the newly recruited Skitarii find themselves training with their leader.
>Supervise the creation of the armor, weapons and gear that you ordered.
>Access the Navigator and Cartographer databases and learn more from the Charonis System.
>Write in.

You first went towards the Inquisitress, you should talk with her about what topics and words are delicate with their altered minds.

It is good that all the higher ups live in the same mansion, walking towards her office doesn't takes you much and after knocking on the wooden door with your metallic knuckles twice you were granted entrance.

It was one of the few times of the day were she wasn't wearing her featureless mirror like warpsteel mask. Right now she had her hair knotted in a bun and was drinking some high quality recaff from her mug. She looked tired, with bags under her eyes and paler than usual, maybe the stress of the work and having to overseer everybody all the day was finally coming to her.

"Greetings, Inquisitress."

She did a lame attempt to raise her mug to greet you but she was so sleepy that it ended being pretty weak.

"Morning, Skitarius."

You slowly sat on the chair in front of her desk and accepted her offering of breakfast. While not as healthy and nutritionally valuable like the pills and solutions that you were used to ingest you had to admit that her pastries were delicious.

"It came to my attention that some of the memories of some people have been altered..."
Diplomacy wasn't your strong point but you still did your best to sound as less accusatory as possible.

"It is for their best. The little Mellizune saw her father die horribly and had to stood next to his dead body for God knows how many time. Liwet's life was a torture and she survived in hell, quite literally. I know that while playing with her memories is morally dubious you have to understand that what I did was for the best....for the love of the Emperor I even gave that poor girl a family."

You understood her points but still felt kind of violent by how easily she acted and how little remorse she showed.
>>
>>39629927

"I am nobody to ask or judge your actions..." You tried to defend yourself. "I am here today to ask you what topics can we talk about and which ones are taboo. I don't want to break your work by accident with my words."

She seemed to relax and took a long sip of her drink.

"She believes you to be her lifetime teacher, while I was able to teach her of the Emperor and its faith there were many subjects that were out of my reach like the true function of the machines and their use, you were there to fill that niche. You have been their teachers pretty much since birth and while they don't truly know anything of your teachings, because you didn't taught them anything, they will have natural curiosity towards your working fields. I would love Mellizune to follow my steps but if she at any time chooses to be a techpriestess I will allow her."

The process that she used to change her minds was more abstract that scientific, there was a process but it was mostly vague. Karelia had drugged her to be awake yet docile and then placed her hands on her foreheads, in her warp-attuned mind she was able to see her memories and delete the ones that she desired. When they were blank she put them together and placed her temples against theirs, she somehow connected the three minds and then whispered the fake memories she wanted to add. She just inserted words, her two minds in conjunction created the constructed remembrance and that way the two shared the same "past"
>>
>>39629927
Karelia a best waifu
But seriously, I'm finding her character steadily more and more sympathetic.
>>
>>39629970

Now that you knew what you could talk about you thanked her the information, her service and the breakfast and went towards Mellizune's room. It was close and asking her about her past would give you more solid information about what she believed to have lived.

When you entered it you were surprised to see both sisters playfully singing songs directed to the Emperor and then start a pillow fight, all while ignoring your presence completely.

>You need to relax too. Join the pillow fight.

The fight didn't lasted long because the great strenght of Liwet made all the feathers of the pillow fly away with a heavy swing that also knocked down her little sister.

You were worried at first, not for Mellizune but for her spine, Liwet as a good sister became more worried for the little girl instead. Luckily for both of us she soon stood up with a cheerful shout and a bloodied smile, somehow the older one managed to make one of her teeth fall off. Luckily it seemed to be deciduous teeth and no real damage was done.

It was kind of cute how after the shock of having her denture fell down the duo noticed your presence and came to you asking to add the tooth into a ring or a collar to turn it into jewelry of some sort. A gift that their mother might enjoy according to them. You grabbed the baby tooth and agreed before starting questioning them.

"Do you think this is the way noble Imperial women act?" You asked them half joking and half reprimanding. You regretted your words after pronouncing them, your mechanical voice made it sound way more harsh that it really was.

"No it isn't, but this is the way that sisters act." Said Liwet trying to defend her sister, that became somewhat ashamed of your castigation.

This caught you by surprise because she kind of defied you but did so in order to defend her sister, you decided not to punish her for this and just ordered her to clean the mess she made.

"How are you two today?" You asked once Liwet was done with cleaning the long silk like feather.

"Good, Mother has finally listened to my pleas of moving into my sister's room. It was good while you were in there but when you were out it became really boring..."

"I lost a tooth today!" Added a still excited Mellizune.
>>
>>39630411

You just nodded to what was obvious and let the older and more rational sister continue.

"I had to use Melli to convince her completely. She's a good actress and has an excellent way of influencing the heart of our mother."

Mellizune then showed me her puppy eyes. She made herself look smaller and cuter while softly whined as if she was about to cry. It was really surprising how good her puppy eyes were having in consideration that she doesn't has eyes at all.

It was really positive that they spent more time together, not only because it strengthened their bond but also because it created memories of them together, real memories that would stabilize and turn their minds into a less fragile mess.

"Would either of you like a tour of the AdMech facilities?"

"Do you build toys in there!?" Asked Mellizune.

"No." You answered frankly. It was true that there were some forgeworlds that had small fabricatoriums dedicated to building toys and maybe even pict-games that were connected to screens and were interactive but you didn't had any blueprint to build anything that could interest her at all.

"Then no!" She said with a pout as she weakly threw you a pillow that missed completely.

You left the room kind of annoyed by their acts but happy overall with their evolution. Soon after that you received a message from Juliannus, it's the first time he contacts you first.

"I have a small mechanical problem that you might fix, it isn't vital, I can wait and give it to a Iron Priest of the Space Wolves." Was the only thing he said.

The Space Marine Juliannus Dommusalba was a demigod warrior with genetic material that linked him with the Emperor more than anybody among the thousands of souls that inhabited this Cruiser. He was the might of the Emperor personified yet he once again was locked.

During all this weeks he had spent his entire time without leaving his room for two main reasons, one because he needed to train hard to recover all the lost time that he wasted while locked on that cell and second because Karelia's orders; an Astartes was not something seen daily and if the regular crewsmen knew of his presence people would start gossiping and talking, something that would make everybody look suspicious under Karelia's eyes because she couldn't really know if the gossipers were speaking of the marine or dealing with heretical thoughts.

When you entered his room you noticed that it was identical as when he originally entered, maybe a little bit more dusty with the exception of the areas were he trained but the rest was completely untouched. As soon as you closed the door behind you he did the steps to remove his helmet.
>>
>>39631020

You didn't knew what to expect because while he was originally a baseline human he was now a centenarian warrior that had surely seen and fought most of the horrors that the galaxy could threw at him.

He looked human but his face was odd, if somebody had to judge him only by looking his semblance it would know that he's not completely human.

His jaw was really angular and square, there wasn't any beard nor hair on his face with the exception of a soft and somewhat curly mohawk that fell between his eyes and reached his chest like a black stalagmite. His eyes were green and intense, kind of reminded you to the pure uranium ore. It was also notable a massive scar on the left side of his jaw that left part of his mandible exposed, some of his teeth seemed to have been replaced with marble equivalents that were decorated with silver patterns.

"The connection." He saw with a deep voice that sounded intimidating even when not amplified by his vox-caster. "It isn't as soft and good as it was in the past. I think there might be a joint that doesn't connects correctly."

He handled you easily the helmet that ended being way heavier than you had thought, you had to use both hands to examine it but still had trouble to do so.

"I don't need it to train but If it has to be repaired before we exit the warp. It is a part of myself, Heracor."

You started to understand how important that helmet was for him, it was weird to see people from outside of the cult that revered the machines so much.

Maybe you could examine and repair it on your own secretly, it would be the best way because nobody would know of its origin but you might be tight on time.

Other option was to secretly transport it towards the AdMech temple and use the machines in there to examine and repair it faster. Due to your position as a leader you were usually pestered so confidence would be really hard.
>>
>>39631047

The final option would be revealing the presence of the Astartes on the ship to some lucky and skilled techpriests and let them help you repairing the helmet. This could break the façade that Karelia built around him thought.

>Try to repair it on your own. You would learn incredibly from it and gain the trust of the marine if you succeed.
>Try to do it on the Cathedral secretly. You will have access to better tools and machines but will have to be wary of the people looking around.
>Let some people repair it while you help and supervise and make a secrecy oath with them.

They should hopefully make them back off and stay away while we work.

>Try to repair it on your own. You would learn incredibly from it and gain the trust of the marine if you succeed.

You take the heavy helmet and cover it with your robes as if you were a lowly thief. Your room and tools weren't far away but every time you saw anybody, even if it was a servitor or a servoskull you froze in place and tried to act natural even to the point of opening a service panel and acting as if you were repairing some electrical circuit. A five minute walk took you about twenty minutes.

Once in your room you placed the helmet on your table as carefully as you could. You could maybe use your X-Ray lenses to study it, use the analyzing instruments to calculate its dimensions, weight and material components, use the lux-casters to study its interior or start tinkering with your tools.

I'm in a good mood today so I'll go with the best roll for each option and in that order

>3º: Look at its interior. (61)
>>
>>39631592

>>
>>39631369
>1º: Study its parameters and materials. (97)
You place it on a scale and a scanner. The scale shows that the helmet is approximately seven kilograms in weight and bigger than what usual helmets are, it would end all loose if some non-Astartes tried to wear it.

It's materials, the exterior at least are a coat of white and red paint and adamantium alloys. Honestly you are surprised by how relatively little it weights.

>2º: X-Ray it. (81)

You grab it with both hands and focus your lenses to enter the broad and intrusive spectrum of the X-Rays. At first it isn't able to surpass the armored shell but after you push yourself into doing it you start to see it's internal mechanisms and sacred circuitry. It isn't like anything you have seen before, it kinds of overwhelms you but its designs are of clear human origin and technique, you could learn how it works and repair it.

A small buzz and a warm sensation inside your skull makes you stop using your lenses. If you use the X-Ray for very long the residual radiation starts hurting your internal tissue.

Luckily you manage to take an capture of what you saw. It is kind of blurry thought.

>3º: Look at its interior. (61)

On its interior you start to identify some of the parts that you had seen using your lenses, you still don't know what they do nor how do they work at all thought.

You sight somewhat exasperated from how much of a challenge this work seems to be. In your interior your voice of logic tells you that there are many lucky techmarines that build those helmets and that it isn't an impossible task.

We should try to do this ourselves and if that fails try to find a trustworthy tech priest to work with. We don't need to be TOO worried as that helmet is now one of the least heretical pieces of tech in our possession. Also I'm assuming its either a HUD issue, an atmospherics issue, or an airtight seal issue.
>>
>>39631852
>Meditate and try to serene yourself. (31)

You try to relax and let any intrusive thought out of your skilled mind. Concentration is vital, that's one of the first indoctrinates that it is taught to every techpriest.

From your mouth a litany of serenity and providence appears trying to purify your mental palace until nothing but cleanliness is around and the ideas start to appear.

It goes well at first but it becomes a hard task for you. Strange ideas about stealing that technology and applying it into your face arose and try to violate your moral codes.

You are somewhat calmer but still shaken by how stressful this day is turning.

>Try to identify the problem. (51)
In front of you stood the helmet, heavy, hard and filled with machinery that was out of your skill. Not only that, this item was pretty much sacred for everybody on the Imperium, for the Mechanicus it was a holy piece of technology, for the Astartes and other warriors of the Imperium it was a piece of armor that you had to protect as it protected you, for the civilians it was a symbol of the might of those angels of death and the protection or might that they carry with them.

You decide to study locked and isolated from outside influences until you have identified what is wrong with it. Juliannus said it felt like the connections felt wrong. You looked at the underside and noticed something odd but it was between other pieces and pretty hard to look at.

Hours passed were you used your X-Ray to look at the strange piece and had to wait for it to cool down until you could continue. By the third hour a migraine started developing on the left side of your brain but you still continued going on an on until you managed to have some clear screenshots of what was wrong.

It was one of the ends of an coaxial sealing connector. As soon as you took the last picture you feel everything going black, you didn't only spend working until late night but also did it without any feeding nor hydration
>>

I'm sorry anon. I'll try to be more clear in next occasions.

>>
>>39632369
You woke up about seven hours late, at twelve am, midday.

Your water and food levels were pretty low and you felt as if you were hungover. Your movements were slow and clumsy, the connection between your brain and limbs was pretty defective and your arms and legs were shaky or didn't even respond at some times.

First thing you did was throw yourself into the shower and let the cold water both hydrate and serene you. After it your body was all pale and your nipples red and pointy, at least you were able to cover them with your armor and felt more awakened. You locked the door twice and headed towards the dining hall, you usually just ate some pills and prepared solution but right now your body asked you for prodigious amounts of food, sugary and oily food.

You were the only techpriest around, the rest were preppy officials and priests that were drinking their tea while speaking about Emperor knows what. You walked past them and asked the feminine servitor for two of each. She became quiet for some time trying to process it but at the end ended accepting the order and soon a trail with four toasts, eight pancakes, two teas, two recafs and two fruit juices appeared for you.

The others looked at you funny and even gave you stinky eyes. You didn't really cared right now, you still had the helmet's problem fresh on your head and a huge hole on your stomach that needed to be filled with food. Your augmented eyes catched their steorotipe filled remarks about how techpriest didn't had any manners because of how isolated we were from everybody else.

Unable to care at all about them you raised your head and with a half eaten pancake still on your ingestion pipe you looked at them and nodded frantically.

With your stomach full the only thing that stopped you from working with the helmet was over. When you returned you started working on it and after another day of hard work managed to repair it completely.
>>
>>39632648

Proud and happy you returned the helmet to its rightful owner and became somewhat disappointed when he just equipped it and returned to training without muttering a word. Well, better than failing him, you thought to yourself.

Now you had on your mind several schematics of how the helmet of an Astartes worked. You could maybe spend the remaining ten days designing a helmet that use them to benefit your temple, another option would be separate them into the different technologies that they carry and turn them into different bionics that your Skitarii could install if they desired.

>Spend the last days designing a helmet that has similar principles and technology for the temple. ( Roll 1d100 )

Does that mean we don't do anything with it?

Wouldn't we otherwise need to design a helmet/bionics anyway, just in the end not giving it to the others?

I'm more worried about the fact that the whole guy we got it from doesn't officially exist and that without that justification it would seem like blatant tech heresy.

While designing a helmet might be useful and advantaging, it would be frowned upon. People might wonder where did you got such advanced military technology; Juliannus trusted you with the work, let's not take advantage of an ally that could snap you in two when he desired.

It was late but still not a prohibitive hour. You entered into the sister's room and found them tucked in the same bed wondering about how the Galaxy was. They remembered it but found their memories lacking and confusing.

"Hey, hey!" Called Liwet. "You pretty much everything right?"

"Greetings sisters. It is my duty to collect and archive knowledge yes."

You were very far from knowing everything thought, you recently discovered that daemons were real and found yourself as ignorant as a newborn.

"Tell me about....the sun!" Said Mellizune.

"Which one?" You answered playfully.

"Mmmh...what about the Charonisian sun?"

"Honestly, I didn't recollected any cosmological data about the system itself. I don't know how many planets and or suns does it have."

Liwet rolled her eyes and it seemed that her younger sister did the intent of doing the same, even if she lacked eyeballs.

"Oh by his sacred title you are joking right?" Said Liwet with disbelief.

You raised your hand and placed other on your still human heart.

"I am completely honest. I know about different Star types and how can they look but about this particular one, I do not."

Both pouted at unison and turned around to ignore you completely.

"Dumbcog." They said together under their breath.

You sigh and sit on the bed next to them, then grab a connector and connect yourself with the database network. You quickly managed to access the information about the system and meanwhile you programmed your servoskull Morti to spark and emit lights to distract them.

The first thing that you read about the system wasn't so good but you were already
forewarned about it.

>++CHARONIS SYSTEM++<
"A system infamous for its dust clouds, gravity riptides and the toxicity of most of its planets and moons. Lots of ships became stranded there because of the gravitation shifting; it is common to find vessels that have been unable to exit this system or are just plain destroyed because of the dangerous nature of this place.

Some of the biggest ships that didn’t completely made the entrance unscathed were later fused with other hulls and turned into space hulks that acted as space stations that colonists and merchants dwell in.

People say that if you enter this system only the God Emperor can take you out."

You sighed and decided that this bit of information could be...ignored.

>PLANETS:
++Maccio

++Teardrop
Named like that because it has become a graveyard of some sort for the most beloved Ships or Humans that have died on this system.

When a ship becomes wrecked it is sanctified and then sent to fall into the corrosive ice world so nobody else can loot it in the future. The ball of fire they form becomes a light show for everybody looking from their stations or ships as they cry silently.

The deaths of heroes are also revered by sending escorts ships filled with coffins, their most valued weapons and dozens of presents inside. Some of the most loyal soldiers and friends of the deceased person have been sent into those suicidal trips while still alive, becoming thus part of the funeral all along.

There are rumors of radio messages that have been received from the surface of this planet. It is believed that maybe some of the people sent as martyrs to die have somehow survived. The priesthood thinks that those are just urban legends thought and that they shouldn't be investigated.

++Tercius
Planet declared “Perdita”, or forbidden in low gothic, there are some buoy satellites that send a vox-message to anybody who gets too close advising them to turn around or to face the dire consequences of their actions. Due to the already many omens of this system and the superstitions around it almost everybody respect those warnings. Those who don’t can expect to be shunned and forbidden entrance in the system’s cities and stations, maybe even be denounced to the Inquisition.
>>
>>39633418
++Nerec Moon
A ship crashed into this moon after a gravitational shift and managed to survive the impact. They turned the crashed cruiser into a environmentally sealed city. After centuries of hard work they even became able to create a stable industry and other technical and social advances. With the recent construction of new and more efficient respirators they can now truly explore their world and expand even more.

They are still loyal and greet the explorers and merchants but they themselves don’t plan to head to the stars as they believe that there is a divine reason for them to be on that moon.

++Cuatt Anterius
A Gas Giant; believed to be the cause of the Gravity riptides on this system. It is hated with passion by the forcefully stranded there and venerated by the ones who enjoy living among such a big voidfarer community.

++Luna Cuatt Moon
This moon appears in some legends and fairy tales as a place where angels and imperial saints can be seen during full moon. It is otherwise insignificant.

++Ecantor Cuatt Moon
The Orbital Station around this moon is noteworthy for being the main Ecclesiarchy hub in this system. It is also believed that there is a Sister of Battle Cathedral somewhere on it. While not a true settlement the traveling between the other orbital stations and this one is pretty common as there is a regular flow of priests and other creed teachers that travel all around the system and believers that travel to Ecantor in the search of redemption or spiritual illumination.
>>
>>39633443
++Pandórika Cuatt Moon
The main capital and commerce point of this system. People from all the orbital stations come to this moon to trade or in the search of work. It is a thriving community and even has an AdMech temple and an Imperial Guard regiment. The only world classified as an Imperial World and subjected to paying the Imperial Tithe.

The low atmospheric presence and its toxicity have made the colonist settle into domed cities built underwater or in geological depressions like craters, ravines or canyons.

There is an annual event were the glaring moon “His Sight” gets blocked by the warp engulfed moon; this astrological casualty is known as “The Blink”. During this day people think that the Emperor cannot see them and that the light of the Astronomicon doesn't illuminate their world. As the warpfire covered moon blocks the eye the entire planet falls into an estate of fervor that might develop in two ways; Pious and body torturing praying or a mindless killing spree.

Webway gates are present on some points of the surface; those seem to be inactive but are still overseen by the Guard in case the Eldar decide to attack.

++ "His Sight" Moon
A white moon that has in the center a darker brown colored area made from some copper and ferrite deposits. From Space and most other moons this satellite looks like a glaring and vigilant eye. Legends and the Ecclesiarchy preach that it is the sight of the own Emperor looking over the inhabitants of the system.

Landing on this moon is considered Heresy.

++Glies Cuatt Moon

++Severae Cuatt Moon
>>
>>39633465
++Heptium Cuatt Moon
The barbaric xenos known as Kroot have settled on this moon and formed primitive tribes. Even if they are sentient and intelligent they don’t seem to be able to leave the moon.

They are tolerated because the guard makes an annual hunt that will work as a final exam for the recruits and also controls the xenos population. Some nobles and rich people have also traveled to this moon to hunt for sport with the guardsmen.

The Kroot seem to enjoy those hunts as much as Imperials as they have helped them strengthen themselves with fresh and strong human DNA every year.

++Octuran Cuatt Moon
This Orbital station acts as a relay for both electronic and astropathic messages. In case it was destroyed most part of the system would be unable to communicate.

++Baomen Quatt Moon
It's the origin of most curses and bad omens of the system. Legend says that before the storm all planets were pure and had breathable air and that a person who explored it cursed and spawned the storm when it lost its faith in the Emperor.

The priests of this system use it to scare and control the most ignorant population, threating with sending them to the moon if they aren't pious.

It is visible from most moons of Cuatt Anterius as neverending balls of purple sick fire from were from time to time red transparent tentacles appear.

Legends say that there are intact cities to explore and treasures to loot on it. Landing on this planet is a suicidal yet not impossible act. Doing so and succeeding will is enough motives to be declared Traitoris Maximus thought.

Before you could reach to the last planets they were asleep. You continued reading them on your own because the information was also useful for you.

After learning and storing it all you headed to bed too. Today was a long day but you were happy with yourself, you pleased both the girls with the lore of the System and also the Omnissiah repairing the helmet.

You tucked them and turned the light off before leaving. The corridors were mostly silent, the closer the date was towards the moment were the entrance in realspace the most stressed and irritable they were.

It was a phenomena called the "Crossing Terror". The crew was scared of both entering and leaving, it acted on both ways and the effects were the same when both entering realspace/warp and doing the inverse, the only moments when they felt truly safe was when the ship was "stable" independent on which dimension it is.

The next days the people will be more prone to violent outburst and it is norm to prohibit the consumption of ethyl based beverages one week after and before entering and two weeks before leaving.

Karelia was totally isolated on her office. She messaged ordering you no more visits. With her obsession to control everything the Crossing Terror would be a complete nightmare for her; fighting between men and slaves multiplied exponentially and those moments were when most terrorism acts or mutinies happened.

Maybe this phenomena was why you didn't managed to relax when working with the Astartes helmet but...that would be something you would have to think about some other day. All you could think about now was sleeping.

As soon as you threw yourself into the bed you feel completely asleep but not before choosing what to focus on tomorrow.

>Supervise the Skitarii temple.

You leave the Mansion and head quickly towards the temple. You have made this same path so many times that you pretty much make it pretty much automatically.

As soon as you enter you are received by a familiar and by your standards pleasant sounds and smells. The sound of weapons firing, fire churning and hammers impacting accompanied with the smell of oils, promethium and metal dust.

Seems like the people are training extra hard today. Maybe because they want to impress you or it might be a side effect of the paranoia and stress caused by the Crossing Terror.

A young and petite Skitarius comes armed with a small knife, she cannot be more than seven years old and two blonde pigtails show from under her hooded face.

"Sire Sire! I have been appointed as your personal assistant!"

Weird, if you ever needed a personal assistant you would be the one that appoints it. Maybe even if you were the leader the other high ranked members had the power to issue orders with the combination of their votes. It was still odd that they appointed you someone like her; a servoskull would be more useful. Maybe there was someone that didn't enjoyed your presence and wanted you to accidentally kill her and that way destitute you from your position?

She was small enough to break in two and die easily accidentally, besides, she was armed but she surely had no training for the weapon she carried. She was a human timebomb.

Maybe...maybe it was the effects of the paranoia overtaking you too?

Well, I wasn't thinking of turning her heretek overnight, just as a long-term goal.

I don't think the inquisitor would need to brainwash some random techpriest to spy on us anyway, she has cams everywhere, and could easily bully basically everyone to give her info on us.

This is more likely a slaneeshi ploy, if at all.
>>
>>39634380
>Ask her who appointed her

You got on your knees and still found yourself taller than her.

"Give me your knife." You ordered.

She doubted at first but it didn't lasted long, half a second later she handled it to you. The knife was short and light, composed of a thin yet durable blade and a monomolecular blade. Unless she used it against your exposed points like neck or so it didn't had any chance against your armor and bionics.

You didn't wanted curious Skitarii looking at you scared from a small girl and requisitioning her weak weapon so due to social pressure you ended returning it.

"Who sent you?" You asked fixing your eyes on her and trying to use intimidation on your favor, you could have used your warpsteel mask but that would have been too much, who knows, someone as small as her could even enter into a catatonic state.

"I..." She started saying with her still human and infantile voice. "I didn't made into the entrance cut but I wanted to enter so bad so bad. Two Skitarii, a boy and a girl told me that if I stood on your side I would learn a lot. Please..."

She seemed to be on the verge of tears.

>Test her, if she passes she will be your pupil.
You moved back a few feet and then face her.

"Well...As the leader of the Skitarii I am a man of danger that fights and will fight all kind of enemies. I guess that I could test your combat abilities to see if you would be complementary to my skills or a burden..."

She didn't cry but instead started shaking in fear, she grabbed her knife with both hands and tensed all her lithe body.

"But you see..." You continued. "What's your use as a fighter if your most important muscle, your brain, isn't as trained as the rest of your body?"

"If...If I fight without using my brain I am stupid?" She asked.

"Indeed. Only animals, servitors and most races of xenos fight without using their intellect, only fueled by their primitive rage. That's what differs them from us, we are superior because we made fighting into an art and also a science."

"Why do machines work?" You asked. Most ignorant people would answer with gears or electricity, their answer while true would lack the depth that the Cult Mechanicus teaches, those gears are nothing but their muscles and the electricity is their blood. What truly makes all the machines that surround us work are their machine spirits, their life sparks.

"B-because of their machine spirits." She answered. She had some doubts but at least she answered, this was nothing to feel proud of, this was one of the first things taught to the newly inscribed techpriests.

"Correct." You awaited a few seconds to study her even more and then asked again. "How many focusing lens does the standard Mars pattern lasgun have?"

She seemed to enter into a panic state and the knife between her hands shook enough to become blurry.

"I...I don't know."
>>
>>39635462

As soon as she answered you moved a step towards her. When you did it she didn't dared to move backwards, being scared was natural, being a coward wasn't.

"How many powder does the standard Krak grenade use?"

Another question that she couldn't know, this time she opted for the silence, when ten seconds passed you walked towards her once again.

"What's the Sancta Sanctorum of the Adeptus Mechanicus?" Another easy question. The most sacred place of the cult was the red planet Mars.

"Mars!" This time she answered fiercely, good.

The questioning continued over and over until you were completely in front of her. She was completely crying and believing that you would turn her into a servitor for failing so many questions. Truth was that she passed, her true test was enduring the pressure and not moving back. You grabbed her knife and placed it on the floor before hugging her softly and patting her head.

"It's ok. You have passed, I'll be your master now and in one year when you try the entrance exam again I will promise that you will pass."

She hugged you back and burst into a waterfall of tears, luckily for her the close sounds of machinery drowned her crying. After a while she felt silent, you looked at her and found her asleep, she was surely exhausted and the stress was too much for her. Not knowing what to do you returned to your room walking slow and quiet to not wake her up and left her on your bed with some food.

You even tucked her like you tucked the two sisters the night before.

The still nameless girl mentioned two Skitarii, could they be Faust and Eugen. Those were the ones that knew you better but it was weird that they rejected an infant, specially with their own offspring project coming in some months...

>Comm Faust and Eugen first, see if they know anything about this.

You sat on the bed next to her and saw her sleep softly, under her hood she was just a little girl with little to no bionic augmentation with the exception like a small antenna that popped from under her left ear. Honestly why she would want to become an Skitarii was out of your knowledge, this small girl couldn't originate from the now destroyed planet of Plinia Vesus; she had to have been born somewhere else or maybe on this same ship.

Whatever her reason is you would have to question later. There were still some people that could give you some information about her. After the two weeks that you spent unconscious Faust and Eugen didn't only start a relationship and become pregnant but also climb on the hierarchy and become mid-ranked captains by popular demand and military prowess.

Unlike in the other squads were there was only one leader in theirs they both worked together, you still remembered in the reunion how one techpriest complained for how wrong and untidy it would look in the database and the schematics. You still ordered him to program it anyway.

If the couple was truly the one that assigned the girl to you then they had no excuse, you couldn't comprehend why could they do something similar. Only a good questioning would answer that. They were right now separated from each other so a multiplex conversation channel of broadcast would be needed, your personal transmitters weren't strong enough to do it on their own, you had to physically connect with the modem and the routers for it.
>>
>>39636369
---
You had Four lenses, on the two of the left Faust appeared, on the two of the right Eugen. It would have looked like a curious show for anybody else as all they could see would be you speaking alone and four persons on your eyes. It was different for you, you could see them perfectly while they spoke and worked, the conversation linked the tree at once.

"Greetings Faust and Eugenia. Can anyone explain me this?" You pointed towards her and let them see the girl.

"That's Alaria. The daughter of one of the deceased Skitariis from the frigate...she's too young to make the cut but wants to become stronger and avenge her fathers." Said Eugen.

Apparently both died, maybe they were the couple that froze when the Liquid Nitrogen pipes exploded? Their death were terrible but it all looked confusing, it was hard to remember.

"We talked with the Inquisitor but she said that Skitarii offspring isn't accepted into the Schola Progenium." Added Faust.

"And we wouldn't OBVIOUSLY turn her into a servitor, she's innocent and now an orphan." Eugen seemed horrified with the idea of turning her into a servitor, maybe influenced by the fact that she is going to be a mother soon.

"We would adopt her but even after our ascensions we still live in regular habitaculums, we are doing a lot of paperwork to be moved to the same dormitory but we cannot take care of her for now...and you, well you live alone on that Mansion." Tried to explain Faust.

"Yeah, you are always alone Heracor, you are like a ghost or a shadow, always moving here and there but never sticking to anybody. You only spent time with use because of work, after that we have barely seen you."

"You needed some stability, to learn what it is to protect and take care of somebody."
>>
>>39636393

In your interior you were pretty enraged, they didn't knew about Liwet but they still thought that you were just as apathetic as any servitor. They got you into some trouble, there was no way you could dump the girl right now without looking like a monster. You huffed until you were relaxed and then hung up. They were your friends and had good intention, besides asking you if you wanted a small girl was bizarre and they surely believed that you would reject it entirely. The Inquisitress could maybe adopt her too but honestly that would take a great amount of memory manipulation...dammit.

>Call Liwet and Mellizune, tell them to take care and try becoming friends with her.
You called the two girls that were braiding each other's hair and somewhat explained the situation. They accepted to take care of her and once again you had to transport her, this time towards their room. You were unsure of how such a technology inclined girl would mix with the other two but you couldn't think of anything better.

>Return to the temple and manage it.
Back on the temple you started looking at the different possibilities you had.

>Try the weapons they have created. Make them do a live demonstration, maybe even fighting one of them.
>Train hard.

Reckon we should bother making some kind of speech about how tempers flare more easily whilst we are coming to exit the warp and that everyone should thus bear this in mind and strive to accommodate for it?
>>
>>39636419
>Train: squad-based combat simulation with nonlethal weapons.

Under previous leadership, they were single combatants, so they would surely need squad xp.

You walked towards your office and logged into your personal cogitator, after that you connected physically with the computer and looked at the registries.

I'll end it for today. It's 2 am for me already.

You all have as always 30 minutes for questions, archive descriptions, critics and suggestions.

Thank you all for playing!

Thanks for running.
Heracor has seemed a little more 'autistic' as such regarding his internal reactions to other peoples' doings this thread. Is this a symptom of the warp exit or just that he's finally in a peaceful lull during which he relapses into a less considerate state?
>>
>>39636912
thanks for running! How come we're getting a daughter? You thinking it's cute or setting us up for another gut punch?
>>
>>39636989
It's because it's 'adaughterable', DOHOHOHOHOHO-

*blam*
>>
>>39636976
He will always be somewhat autistic but he has suddenly found himself in a powerful position with political enemies, he's somewhat scared of what they might try to do to trample him down. He's paranoid and the warp exit might be part of it yes.

>>39636989
Honestly she wasn't planned at first and I doubted a lot if including her or not but I honestly wanted this quest to have more social interaction, not only being the MC running around doing X. Besides being able to modify and augment somebody besides Heracor is going to be some fresh air. Plus she's also motivated by vengeance, they are pretty relatable.

Anyway she's a character like any other. She can die horribly at any time.
>>
>>39636989
gut punch for sure
>>
>>39636912
Thanks for doin the do. Can we appropriate some of the guard vehicles from the frigate to help with mobility and force projection, y'know in case we have a more active role ground side. Also even if its not an explicit part of our doctrine can we still get the not-MECs for use in squads as heavy support? I ask this both as a practical means of upping our firepower/armor but mostly for fulfilling my x-com fantasy.
>>
>>39637149
Well... We managed to save Liwet, and hell, she even got mindwiped into believing her life was far better than it was...

I'm sure Alaria will turn out juuuust fine...
>>
>>39637181
Since we already have squads with tac armor. Now the question is will we have Commander Beagle level casualties or massive causalities like a normal player hahahaha.
>>
>>39637181
Thing is that this Cruiser is from the Ordo Hereticus, not the Imperial Guard. There might be some vehicles but surely not as many.

>>39637181
>>39637219
Honestly I have never played X-com because I'm a poorfag, I just thought those armors were cool as fuck.

Anyway, yeah, the leaders would surely get better stuff as they see fit, that's part of the temple's new doctrine after all.

What are the names of our generals?
What rank our Faust and Eugen?

>>39637219
Inb4 Heracor's autism makes his forces be in the perfect positions to wreck face when things inevitably go to shit.
>>
>>39637300
>What are the names of our generals?
You can choose by yourself, otherwise I will just give them names with hidden jokes in them like pretty much every other character.

>What rank our Faust and Eugen?
Those two are one of the 20 Captains

how is promotion of leadership managed again?

is it combat based or strategy based?
>>
>>39637540
>how is promotion of leadership managed again?

It's meritocratic. You ascend by merits that might be gained in a lot of ways.

For example if you are a really good warrior you might ascend from Skitarii to Squad Leader but if you don't show tactical prowess as the leader you will be forever stuck on that position or even be degraded again to regular warrior.

To ascend to the top you have to prove your value in several aspects, that way the Grand Skitarius will be somebody that knows and excels in everything.
>>
>>39637629
DO we have enough bits to modify our force's armor as needed?
>>

I do love your sense of humor.
>>
>>39637741
Yesss, they have been building them while the MC was KO'd and they continue building to have something to work on and spare weapons just because.

>>39637760
I could tell you some hidden meanings on the name of the characters if you want.

For example the marine Juliannus Dommusalba is pretty much the latin version of the name Julian Casablancas, the main singer of the Strokes.
>>
>>39637834
Could we get them to make some man portable mortars? Great for siege warfare or softening up and breaking up a rush. They're also explosives.

we should do what we did the first time with crpo ahd haxmaster, that was amazing
>>
>>39637879
They are equipped with bazookas/missile launchers. I guess I could say that they have some kind of support that can quick and easily turn them into mortars. Is that ok with you?

>>39637916
>we should do what we did the first time with crpo ahd haxmaster, that was amazing
Go for it and send me your worst, otherwise I had planned altering the names of the pilots of Evangelion.
>>
>>39637949
Meh Missiles are usually better unless you can't see your enemy. Or they come in swarms.

>Evangelion
Well this is going to end poorly.
>>
>>39637999
Well, they aren't wrong, we are pretty hard core autistic. Although they aren't wrong, they sent us someone who had legitimate potential and can be properly inducted.
>>
man i wonder how oihan and her crew is doing right now.
>>
>>39638116
I don't understand if that's a question or what.

>>39638172
She's thought as nails. I bet she will reappear in the future. We didn't had time to finish our contract with her so in theory we have been skipping her scheduled work and training hours for weeks, we surely own her a shitload of time.
>>
>>39638272
I don't think Oihan has the balls to try to pull that on Karelia.
>>
>>39638272
It wasn't, by the way, keep it up, I've really enjoyed this content. Also did the inquisitor actually expect us to fight her over the whole mind wiping lanky/lewit? Did us merely requesting the specifics have any impact on her view of us?
>>
>>39638298
>Also did the inquisitor actually expect us to fight her over the whole mind wiping Lanky/Liwet?
I see it this way. She's a mother that has recently widowed and whose only biological daughter has been really close to dying.

Heracor is weird both because his appearance and autism and also because his strange psyk-blocking mind. Besides when the Inqusitor appeared for the first time Heracor was the only one that said fuck this and jumped from the vehicle, somewhat abandoning the little girl.

She's an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor, a somewhat radical one yes but still a person that mistrusts everybody she meets almost to mentally unstable levels.

Karelia had tons of reasons to kill him on the spot since she's of a radical nature and some warp nature objects (the mask) had helped her in the past she decided to give him a chance.

During those two weeks she gave him really hard missions but he managed to recover the fucking frigate and also turn the temple into a better place.

She now sorts of trust him to some degree, to the point of letting him stay with their daughters alone. ( But still spied with cameras)

The Inquisitor only wanted the best for the two girls and knew that while mindfucking them was morally wrong it was for the best, she has done it so many times in the past that it has become less and less harder to the point of becoming a semi standard procedure for her. Since Heracor has a logical mind she knew that he would reach the same conclusion and while they could have argued she knew that she was right and would win. Us not fighting her has just showed her that we are more apathetic than she expected.

>Did us merely requesting the specifics have any impact on her view of us?
She thought that it was kind of cold hearten but the best decision nonetheless. It also kind of showed her that you can be trusted because you want to know the best way to damage them as less as possible.
>>
Seems like there are no more questions and I'm tired as fuck. Thanks everybody for playing.
