You are Princess Lumora of the Treeline Kingdom, Bloodslayer, And Bandit Queen of Hearts.

When we last left you, you had finally finished off the last of the bandit lords, slain a blood monster, became allies with the druids, and with no people standing in your way claim the forest as your own personal kingdom.

Word of your exploits has reached out to others. Attracting more people to your Castle.
>gain 10 bandits and 20 peasants.

Typically a good thing if it weren't for the fact that your men are now starving with you only extorting food from 3 villages in the neighboring kingdom of Steelgate. The Kingdom ruled by the half-brother that exiled you as an imposter from your rightful throne.
Skills:
>Moderate Military Tactics
>Advanced Leadership
>Advanced Swordsmanship
>Advanced Horse riding
>Expert Court Etiquette

>2 Bandit Lords
>8 rangers
>1 Cleric
>1 Elf Ranger Trainer
>2 wooden forts, 1 heavily trapped
>1 Small Forest Castle

Now is the time to make some decisions not only for yourself but for your people.

Yay, it's back!

Can you hire a paladin to train your uncivilized barbarians into honorable knights?

We're bandits. I don't think paladins would be giving us the benefit of the doubt.

Hunt for food in the forest with 4 rangers. We will move some troops and try to convince other village to supply us with food.
>>
>>39702731
Certainly, the trick would be finding a paladin willing to work for you.
>>
>>39702762
Well as of now we only have rangers and warriors. It'd be nice to try to transition to a more sophisticated army.

Can our barbarians be trained to be druids and witches?

New player and I haven't read the previous threads, but:

If we need food, there's a lot of things to do.
>Buy large amounts of seed from a town, maybe a sack.
>Slash and burn some trees, if we really don't have time. The ashes will help the soil quality, anyway.
We could chop down the trees, but there aren't many fast ways to get rid of tree stumps and roots.
>Get a section for fruit-bearing trees, one for berry bushes, one for grains/regular farming, and one for livestock feed.

Is this a place that undergoes winter?
>>
>>39702912
It stays mostly temperate throughout the year with a small winter of only a few months. It is currently spring time now.

>Construct a building (Farm)
>Raid

Since Haroldnarl, the crafty bandit lord dwarf, was promised to lead the raiding parties you over see the farm building construction yourself while he prepares the raiding party.

Who shall our raiding target be?
>A Steelgate Noble
>A Steelgate village
>A Steelgate City
>A location in a different kingdom then steelgate?
>The forest dragon
>A Trade Caravan
>>
>>39702912
>druids and ents
hoooookay, maybe slash and burn isn't wise. Can we ask them how they feel about it?

Fire isn't necessarily harmful to a forest: a couple of fires a year helps keep a forest healthy and prevent the whole thing from burning at the slightest ember. Cycle of life, and everything. Hell, some plants USE fire to spread their seeds and grow.
>>
>>39703013

Kidnap the merchants and grill them on who's dealing business with Steelgate. Give them some gold afterwards, even if we take their stuff.

> A trade Caravan

A Trade Caravan is likely your best bet right now for easy hit of goods, plus if there's no witnesses no one knows who is the one who hit it.

Haroldnar assembles 4 of your rangers, 10 bandits, and 20 of your warriors into his raiding party before heading of to the nearest trade route near your territory.

Meanwhile the rest of your warriors are helping the peasants build the farm houses outside your castle with the excess lumber lying around. Some of the peasants have come with their own seed while with the help of the rest of your rangers scour the forest for possible crops.

A Great Success!

You manage to get lucky as this Trade caravan only has a standard guard for it's size, your rangers manage to pick offer the guards from afar before your warriors swoop in and finish them off. The bandits take care of the passengers easily and begin to pilfer through the belongings.
Haroldnarl spares the caravan driver and kidnaps him.
>You gain 1 weeks worth of food and 600 coin (Total 4000)

>16

Above average success!

You manage to construct two farm plots and houses by the time the raiding party returns and unloads. You are currently able to grow wheat and potatoes. It will be a few weeks before you can actually able to harvest anything though, however thanks to your rangers your peasants know the locations of all the nearby fruit trees and berry bushes and will be able to pick from that in the meantime.

>Meet her outside

You open the gates and walk outside to greet her, a small number of your men are a small distance behind you cautiously observing the newcomer.

"Welcome to the Treeline Kingdom, I did not expect your arrival. Why do I owe the pleasure of such parlay?" You ask.

"My lord, the great forest dragon Verdeuke, has taken note of your...success. Most times he has very little concern of the affairs of mortals inside his domain but when kills all opposing factions of other mortals and claims his forest as their kingdom, he would at least like to speak with such a person and come to a mutual understanding of each other. If nothing else he would like to congratulate you on your victory over the deadly blood spirit that plagued the forest.

You are to follow me to his lair and meet with him. Feel free to bring guards with you to the entrance, but you must enter his lair alone, he seeks audience with only you and does not wish to hear other voices dissuading the either of you."

But only if we take a detour to the druids first. We would like their insight into this meeting as they are our allies.

If she refuses it might be because they have a history of just luring leaders and wiping them out and the druids might know this or at least what the dragon might demand from us.

"Very well, just let me bring along a few of my men, and while we're at it let's visit the druids, that way the whole forest is in the know."

The witch tilts her head curiously and said."If that is your wish." She states.

You have 10 of your warriors follow you, and 2 of your rangers follow you in the shadows of the trees.

You meet with the druids back at their camp.

"Princess Lumora! Always a pleasure seeing your lovely young face among the living." Says the elder. "The others would be here but most are tending to the needs of the Ents right now. They can be fickle forest guardians if you don't know how to treat them. I see one of the Dragon's Coven is with you."

You nod. "Indeed, that is why I am here. The Dragon wishes to speak with me in his lair, I would like your input on the matter."

"Oh well if it's the dragon you're worried about, I wouldn't be. All those virgin sacrifices? He uses them as imitates for the coven. He actually doesn't eat humanoids much, he gorges himself mostly on grapes, wine, a whole lot of elk. As for what he wishes to speak to you about, I can't be sure. Usually it's us asking audience with him not the other way 'round."

"Hmm, I see, thank you."

Ask about how the Ents have being since the siege. Are they recovering well? Might as well also ask how they would react to our rapid expansion into the forest. Any specific areas we should avoid or to respect.

>Continue on to the dragons lair
>>
>>39704329
You know what that's a good Idea while we're here we should ask that.

We also need to look into ways of helping the Ents heal faster. We don't want to wait a few decades for them to heal.
>>
>>39704373
Fertilizer maybe?
>>
>Continue on to the Dragons lair
"Thank you, tell me how have the Ents been recovering?"

"Well, the ones that died have had their seeds replanted, and the damaged ones are already starting to mend with the help of our magic. It will be years for full recovery, but that is but a short time for one that shares a trees life."

"Indeed, I hope our expansion into the woods isn't to quick for them."

"As long as you continue to protect the forest from bigger threats then your expansion, your presence shall be more then tolerated."

You say your goodbyes and follow the witch to a moss covered cave entrance deep inside the forest.

"You must leave your men here. My sisters can see to their every need should they desire it." Says the witch as several other woman appear from the forest around you. Each more stunning then the last in either beauty or mystique.

"Very well...gentlemen, we are here as diplomats. So please do be friendly, but don't think you can start relaxing or fooling around as if you're not on duty." You say as you walk inside the cave. It doesn't take long before you see him. He's not as big as you expected, he's big yes, but he's no great wyrm. From what little you know of dragons you'd guess he's a young adult. Still large enough to eat you in one gulp though. He is surrounded by a harem of witches tending to him, fanning, feeding him, or simply laying against him. You were warned he was lazy, but you didn't expect he was so hedonistic either.

"Ah, so here's the girl causing all the commotion in my domain. I hope there's no hard feelings about not helping out more but..." He twist and turns a little on his hoard of gold and jewels. "I just can't get up for anything."

"Well it's good to know you can understand a dragon's perspective...now let's see how far that goes." He says with a mild air of menace as he rolls onto his stomach and looks directly at you.

"You claim to be the princess and de facto ruler of Treeline Forest. Without any opposition to oppose that I guess you are, BUT if I were to so much spend an once of effort destroying you and your kingdom at once I could, and I can. Before you getting any fancy ideas about the relationship of your kingdom to my domain lets keep one thing clear about who is allowing who to do what.

You can have your little kingdom, make nice with the druids, burn the whole forest down for all I care. Just make sure that my witches and my lair are unaffected by your affairs. Do we have an understanding?"

If he demands us to not mess around with his domain ask for the that he does not work with outsiders against us.
>>
>>39704948
The problem with that is that there's just TOO much risk right now. If he gives one ounce of a shit he could chomp us right here and now.
>>
>>39704864
>Yes, we have an understanding, but why not sweeten the pot for the both of us?

>>39704948
Dude, we are a kingdom in name only, how the frak're we supposed too kill it right now?
>>
>>39704957
If he kills us right now that would leave a vacuum in power for our old kingdom to capitalize on. Remember the only reason that they don't expand into this region is mainly due to the bandits which we are controlling right now. Wish him luck in stopping armies and adventurers when there is little to impede their progress.
>>
>>39704989
Fair point, but still. At this stage in the game, there's really no reason to antagonize him. Once we have a strong enough army, some infrastructure, more political clout, all that good stuff, then we can 'renegotiate terms'. Until then, though, I'd say best to just let the thing have his way.
