It isn't hard to locate the Iquani delegation, a colorful covered wagon and a half-dozen horses stand outside the inn, which is still lively despite the late hour. I don't see more horses than I counted during my last meeting with Anwa, which means that most likely the prince himself is not here yet.

Still, Anwa might have some information, or at the very least a more precise idea of when the prince will arrive.

I push open the door to the inn, the muffled noises magnified tenfold as I step inside. The Iquani stand out in stark contrast to the locals, golden-brown skin and dark, slanted eyes, dressed up in an exotic mix of patterned fabrics and tough riding leathers.

Of course, that isn't the only reason it's easy to tell the two groups apart, since the locals and the Iquani aren't going anywhere near each other. The sense of unease from Venser's townsfolk is palpable, I'd wager at least a couple of people here fought against the Iquani in past wars. I suppose I should be thankful no-one's thrown a punch yet... or a rock.

A few eyes turn to me as I enter, though most of the Iquani are too busy drinking and talking loudly in their native tongue, while most of the locals are too busy glaring and muttering in ours. I think I spot Anwa over by the fire, deep in conversation with two of his group.

Well then, what now.

No need to antagonize things further. While the locals may not be happy, I would hope they have at least enough respect for Imperial law not to start a fight while I'm present.

I head over to the Iquani's side of the taproom, earning a few glances and nods from Anwa's companions. One of the two speaking with Anwa gives him a nudge, nodding over in my direction, and the Iquani nomad turns, giving me a wide grin.

“Sief. It is good to see you again. If you have come to meet the prince you have come too soon, though we expect him soon.”

“Anwa, I'm glad to see you made it here safely,” I nod, Anwa gesturing for me to sit with him.

“Thanks to you, giantslayer. My kin have sharp eyes and strong arms, but not enough to stand up to two monsters like those without our behemoths. So does your coming here mean you have finished what you set out to do?”

“For the time being, at least.”

Anwa nods, leaning forward.

“I am glad you could come, the rest of your people do not make for good company, they just sit and stare.”

I cringe inwardly at the volume of his voice, no doubt loud enough for the locals to hear. I should probably do something to stop this getting any more tense.

“Old wounds take time to heal, but my people do not begrudge you being here as representatives of peace, even if they do not wish to fill your cup or hear your tales.”

Anwa smiles, leaning back in his chair again. “As you say. Anyway, enough politics, that is my prince's business, not mine.”

“Sija, fetch the giantslayer a drink, we will share stories both Iquani and Imperial can appreciate, of victory over the wretched titan races,” Anwa proclaims loudly, one of the Iquani women walking over to the bar, handing the somewhat overwhelmed looking innkeeper a coin.

“You saw my battle well enough, I think, Anwa,” I smile, nodding thanks to the woman as she returns and hands me the drink.

“True, you Imperials and your Golems, it was the first time I ever witnessed how you fight firsthand. It was a sight to see. The giants are with their dead gods now, and good riddance to them.”

Anwa takes a swig of his drink, leaning an elbow on the table.

“I have ridden with Prince Juti for many years, since my fifteen year, when my clan was called upon to serve the Kahn's warriors in battle with giants who had been skulking in the ash flats of the far east. It was Prince Juti who had vowed to lead the attack, and as one of the three behemoth riders of my clan I was sent by my clan to aid him.

We tracked the giants for many days, which was made harder by the ash storms, which reshaped the land enough to hide even the most clumsy of footsteps. Still, track them we did from half-eaten animals and other less pleasant leavings.

There were four of them, and many boggarts swarming round them like the vermin they are. With Prince Juti, his guard, me and my two cousins, we outnumbered the titans, but my behemoth Ashakin, and my two brothers' behemoths, were still young, not fully grown, not strong enough to face a giant in single combat.

Prince Juti led the attack with his guard, telling us to crush the ranks of the boggarts, then strike at one of the giants as one and bring it down. The attack went well at first, the Prince's royal behemoth was as mighty as the stories I had heard, and it crushed the throat of the first of the giants between its jaws before he could scream. As he rounded on the second and his guard struck at the third, we did as we were instructed, letting our behemoths run rampant through the boggarts, scattering the disgusting little creatures to the winds.

Then fate turned against us, a lucky thrown spear from one of the boggarts dismounted the prince's guard from his behemoth. Barhi was his name, spirits watch over him. The boggarts ripped him apart before he could draw his blade. Barhi's behemoth went wild, trampling more of the boggarts, but we lost it when it charged off after the fleeing survivors.

The giants, with less enemies to focus on, quickly turned on me and my cousins. My cousin Ajusan fought bravely, but the giant took hold of his young behemoth and shattered its neck, crushing my cousin while it did so. Kasin and I charged in to avenge him, Kasin's behemoth tearing up the giant's hamstring and bringing him to the ground, where my Ashakin trampled the giant's face.

While we were fighting, Juti had slain another of the giants, his behemoth's horned armor tearing open the giant's belly and skewering its heart. The other giant though, it jumped Juti's behemoth from behind, striking it hard upon the thigh. The behemoth stumbled, and we rushed to aid the prince. The last of the giants was perceptive for his clumsy kind though, and he struck Kasin's behemoth in the mouth with a rock, knocking it out cold and crashing into my Ashakin.

While my Ashakin struggled to free herself from Kasin's behemoth, the giant raised the rock again to kill the prince, but that was when I drew an arrow from my quiver, and put it right into the giant's eye. That distracted him to be sure, and as he scratched at his face with his fat fingers, trying to pull the arrow free, Prince Juti and his behemoth got back to their feet, crashing into the giant, knocking the wind from him. Still though, the giant did not go down, hanging on to the behemoth with a hand, keeping the armor from piercing too deeply. That was when Ashakin leapt onto the giant's back, tearing into his flabby flesh, weakening his grip so that the prince could strike the final blow.

That, my friend, was the first time Prince Juti and I fought side by side, and one of many reasons why Prince Juti named me his sworn brother.”

Well, that was quite a story alright. I do wonder why Anwa hasn't brought his behemoth with him, I heard that behemoth riders rarely liked to be separated from their mounts.

How Behemoths are raised and trained
>>
“Four less giants in the world, I'd say that's something we can all celebrate,” I grin, raising my drink, the Iquani do likewise, and even a few of the locals follow suit. If there's one thing that can replied upon to bring people together, it's hatred of the titan races.

“Where is Ashakin now, Anwa?”

“It pained me to leave her behind, but Prince Juti felt that bringing multiple behemoths with us would send the wrong message. The prince will be bringing his behemoth though, Royal Behemoths are as much a symbol of the Khan's family as they are beasts of war. My Ashakin is older and stronger now though, and she has tasted the blood of many giants since those days,” Anwa smiles, taking a swig of his drink.

“I'll admit, Anwa, I don't know much about behemoths. Behemoth riders bond with their behemoth for life, yes?”

“Correct, Sief. All of a clan's children help care for the clan's behemoth eggs and hatchlings. This is to help bind the behemoths to the clan, and so that the hatchlings will pick one of the clan's youths to imprint upon. I have been with Ashakin since I was six years old and she was a newborn hatchling no bigger than a horse.”

I suppose I'll have to wait until the prince arrives to see one for myself.

“Enough stalling, Sief. If you have no stories to match mine, you need only say so,” Anwa laughs, leaning forward to slap me on the shoulder.

“Not stalling, simply interested. I-”

My story is cut off by a slow, rumbling sound in the distance, like heavy footfalls. The Iquani all perking up at the noise.

“Ah, my apologies Sief, but it would appear that Prince Juti has arrived. You may come join me in greeting him if you wish. Perhaps you can tell your tale to the both of us.”

“I'd be honored. Lead the way friend,” I smile, rising from the table as Anwa does likewise.

Anwa heads for the door, accompanied by the rest of the delegation, and I follow, stepping out into the cold night air, squinting into the darkness. I can't see anything from here, but I can certainly hear it. The footfalls grow louder and louder, heavy and ponderous.

A massive shape lumbers out of the darkness, its scaly golden hide striped with black, a long tongue flicking from its mouth as its head turns to the wind. It stares at us with one big, green eye, squatting down to the ground on its four powerful legs.

“Anwa, brother, it is good to see you,” a voice calls from atop the behemoth's back, a figure hopping down from the beast's back with practised ease.

This is the prince then, I take it. While I can't say that he dresses like I'd imagined royalty to dress, he has a certain regal bearing and presence about him that can't be denied. He is tall for an Iquani, his features sharp, a long curved blade across his hip.

Anwa steps forward, him and the prince clasping eachothers forearms, a wide grin on Anwa's face, and a less pronounced but no less pleased one on the face of the prince.

“Prince Juti, I am glad to see you arrive safely.”

“There is little that can slow down my mighty behemoth as you well know.”

“I was more worried, Prince Juti, that you might have wandered off in search of glory.”

“Bah, while there is little glory to be found in playing politician with soft Imperial folk, I am at least a dutiful enough son to see this through for my father.”

Well, this is a little awkward. I contemplate clearing my throat, but Anwa saves me from having to do so.

“Now Prince Juti, they are not all so bad. See, we have already made a friend since coming here. This is Sief, of house Atanor, the family which rules these lands.”

The prince turns a hard-to-read stare on me.

“If Anwa says you are a friend, then I shall greet you as one, Lord Sief. I am Prince Juti, fifth son of the great Khan.”

I follow the group back inside, Prince Juti and Anwa talking in the Iquani tongue. The prince glances back over his shoulder at me as we reach the table.

“So tell me, Sief, how did you and Anwa become such good friends in the short time since my sworn brother and I parted ways?”

“It's a good story, Prince Juti, and Sief tells me there's more to it than I saw,” Anwa grins, gesturing for one of the Iquani to bring the prince a drink, which the Iquani bringing it over sips first before handing it to the prince.

“Well, do not keep my in suspense, Sief, Anwa, I do enjoy a good story. It's been a long journey with only my behemoth for company, and while Varaji is a good and loyal comrade, he isn't much of a talker.”

Well, it seems I'm being put on the spot, the question is how much of the rest of the story I tell the prince.

I start recounting the story, Anwa joining in on the first part during the battle with the giant. The prince listens in silence, a vague smile on his face, at least until I get to the interrogation.

“Two brothers, looking for a third brother, sent here by their mother, you say?” prince Juti asks, raising an eyebrow.

“You think it might be her?” Anwa asks, and I can't help but notice a change in the mood at the table.

“You know who this mother of theirs is?”

“There is a foul old hag who lurks near one of the battlefields along our border with the Empire. Calls herself Mama Stump, at least she does since my father's behemoth bit off her leg. Her and her family have been a thorn in the side of the clans in that area for many years. There are no other families of giants close enough to your lands that I would think it could be them,” the prince explains.

“Three of Mama Stump's brood dead, that's good news. It seems you did more for us than I knew, Sief,” Anwa grins, slapping me on the back.

So I have a name for the mother of these giants now, though I'm still no closer to knowing why she wanted my mother dead.

There'll be time for questions later, at least finishing the story gives me time to get my mind in order. If this Mama Stump sent her son to kill my mother, then she may know who was responsible for her death.

I rattle through the rest of the story on autopilot, minus the more... personal... parts, caught up in my thoughts, and I almost miss it when people start talking again.

“A spriggan. I have heard of such things, though since our lands do not have many trees, they have never been a problem for us,” Anwa comments, before downing the rest of his drink.

“Impressive, Sief, you have a strong will, to face down that creature and its witchery. Old monsters like that have no place in the world the spirits gave us,” Prince Juti agrees.

“As I told you, Prince Juti, a friend.”

Prince Juti nods slowly, placing his drink back on the table.

“True enough. Sief of House Atanor, you have saved my sworn brother, and slain two enemies of the Iquani people. I will not forget your actions, I promise you that.”

“You honor me, Prince Juti.”

I am well aware of how much such promises mean to the Iquani. The favor of one of the Khan's eldest sons is not something to be given lightly.

(cont)
>>
>>39731408
“So Sief. This giant, Mama Stump. You want her head. Do you not?” Prince Juti smirks, leaning back in his chair.

I don't know how he could have guessed that, I said nothing of my family, or of Bonesnapper, or my mother.

“Do not look so surprised, my friend. We are not all the savages you Imperial folk think us to be. I have spent many years in my father's court reading beyond hollow vows of honor and flowery words. I will not ask why you hate her so, maybe you are simply angry that her sons would invade your realm, but you do hate her. Perhaps, Lord Sief, we can help each other out once again?”

I curse myself for my slip-up, I was fairly certain I had kept a level tone, but it seems I gave myself away. I sigh, taking a sip of my ale to collect myself.

“I have some reasons to seek out this Mama Stump, yes.”

“Perhaps, Lord Sief, I could give you her location. My people would be happy to have that thorn removed from our side, and you get to extract whatever questions or retribution you wish from the old hag. A fair deal, no?”

Is basically what you guys voted to retcon, when it was already said.

Here is the bits that are important as well.

>“Cuz this is where ma sent him. Ma said to big brother, go west to where the stone man riders live, and kill the bigshot lady with red hair. She said it was real important.”
>“What was your brother's name?”
>“Bonesnapper. You seen him? Ma's gonna be real mad at him for being gone so long. She needs to know if he killed the red-haired lady.”

>>39731837
Why are you implying that Sief would quote word for word the interrogation?
The only thing we know Sief said is that those two fags came here for their brother, sent by their mother.
That didn't get retconned at all.
>>
I don't want to turn down an offer like this, though I also don't want the prince using it to get out of any further favor.

“Of course Prince Juti, I'm happy to do this for the both of us. That is what friends do, after all.”

Juti quirks an eyebrow, a smirk forming on his face.

“As you say, Sief. I would only ask that if you are to enter Iquani lands, you do not bring other golems with you. Many of my people still do not trust the Empire, least of all a golem knight, if there are several of you, they may see it as a scouting party.”

Well that's not inspiring. Though I have serious doubts I could convince anyone to come with me anyway, we are not exactly on good terms with the neighbouring fiefs due to my father's actions.

Anwa frowns. “It would be unfortunate to send him alone, Prince Juti. Sief is a skilled warrior, but Mama Stump has her whole family with her, not to mention the other dangers of the lands around her.”

Prince Juti drums his fingers on the table, deep in concentration from the looks of it. Finally he stops his movements, a smile curling up the corners of his mouth.

“Well Anwa, I do know someone near the border who could aid him, and act as his guide.”

“...Oh, well, yes, I suppose they would be willing,” Anwa frowns.

“I feel like it might be unwise,” he continues, glancing at me.

“...for many reasons.”

Prince Juti waves his hand, “Nonsense, Anwa, you yourself have vouched for Sief's honorable nature. I'm sure nothing will go wrong.”

I can't help but feel like I'm being left behind by this conversation. Anwa looks deeply concerned, while Prince Juti looks a little amused insofar as I can tell.

“I will point you to the old battlefield where Mama Stump and his family hide, but first you will meet with someone who can act as a guide, and keep my people from reacting poorly to your presence,” Juti smiles, turning his attention to me.

“Well, good luck Sief, my friend,” Anwa sighs.

“Who exactly is this guide?”

I already have a very bad feeling about this.

“Quala, a skilled behemoth rider and a young lady of strong character I have known for many years. She will aid you, and in return you will keep her very safe” Prince Juti smiles, putting a hand on my shoulder, a friendly gesture with a worryingly firm grip.

“Princess Qualaji, thirty-third daughter of the Great Khan. Prince Juti's younger sister,” Anwa explains.

Wonderful, this just keeps getting more and more complicated.

not putting dick in that hole.

Thank you all for playing. Sorry the thread was a bit slow today.

Can stick around for some Q&A for a while if anyone has questions about setting or characters or whatever.

Dont tell me what hole i cant put things in!
>>
>>39732361
I got a little confused, honestly.

The end result was that Sief told them the basics of the interrogation, but glossed over anything to do with his dead mum or personal stuff, so all Juti and Anwa know is that Sief has some sort of grudge against the giants and that Bonesnapper died in their lands many years ago.
>>
>>39732345
you do know fucking that is suicide right?
There is a reason why they told us to be Honorable.
>>
>>39732291
Still concerned about the fact that a golem knight and 1 behemoth rider is posed to kill a family of 5

Oh well time to add TitanBreaker to the list of titles

>>39732327
Don't remember if this was stated previously but how much land does our family own?

Did our father fight in the war against the Iquani?
Do Iquani skin colors vary by person/tribe/location/etc?
What degree of delicious brown are Anwa and Juri?

Man, suddenly /tg/ does not want to let me keep my trip.

noo i missed it, anyways. did we just get told not to do things with a princess? we should definitely [s]hold her hand[/s] and maintain proper political relations.

>>39732385
dropped your trip
>>39732395
So Qualaji is some kind of a slut?
>>
>>39732429
Maybe she has a grudge on golem?
>>
>>39732429

nah, it was just old timey beliefs that all women were sluts.
>>
>>39732429
Maybe, but i doubt that sief would go for that kind of girl, if the ask and his fathers debauchery is anything to go by.
>>
>>39732462
she is likely pretty slutty

Thanks for running, Lordy

>Don't remember if this was stated previously but how much land does our family own?

It's a reasonably large fief, although that is mainly because it's frontier land and about 60-70% of your territory is undeveloped forest land. Your main export is from logging right now.

>>39732400
>Did our father fight in the war against the Iquani?
You believe so, yes, the Empire has been in on-again off-again wars with the Iquani for centuries. It's only within the past ten years that the new Khan has actually been making peaceful overtures.

>Do Iquani skin colors vary by person/tribe/location/etc?
Looks like it from the group you saw.

>What degree of delicious brown are Anwa and Juri?
Anwa's a Dark Vanilla, Prince Juti's an Indian Summer.

>>39732429
>So Qualaji is some kind of a slut?
Dunno, maybe you should ask Juti, I'm sure he won't mind...
>>
>>39732400
Here's a pic of a top tier delicious brown tsundere but already quite warmed up girl as well.
>>39732462
At most that could explain expecting her to be easily seduced by Sief, but what I gleamed from their words is that it's possible she would actively pursue bodily relations with Sief.
>>
>>39732486
My pleasure.

>>39732471
Why wouldn't he?

BEST DELICIOUS BROWN SKIN
Short(er than shoulder length) blonde hair goes really well with tanned skin, I think.

Yessss. Good. Good.

I can work with this.

Too bad she is gonna lose to either the homebody, or the blonde chick that has a godly tongue. can she tell what you ate from your cum?
>>
>>39732599
probably yes, after enough time tasting it
Shame Erina is absolute shit and Megumi is boring.
Alice and Meat a bests, Shouko and Yoshino also acceptable.

Well then, if there's no more questions.

You said Juti's "tall for their kind" or something.
How tall are Iquani in general? Taller or shorter than us(humans?)?
>>
>>39732967
Wait!

What's the meaning if life!
Why does Sief wear the Golem?
Was losing her sons all apart of Mama Stumps master plan?
>>
>>39733124
Is Mama Stump trying to crash this fiefdom with no survivors?
>>
>>39733034
Iquani are humans, just asian ones who average around 4-5 inches shorter than your average Imperial citizen.

>>39733124
>Was losing her sons all apart of Mama Stumps master plan?
Of course, they would be expecting three bodies in the forest.

Nice try. But I don't think we'd like iron poisoning of the pointy kind.
