Sup elegan/tg/entlemen!

Spent the past few days recreating (again) a Civ Thread template. Made it a lot more user friendly in my opinion, with it relying less on mechanics than before and more suitable for advancing the story than getting bogged down in rolls.
Fully encouraging QMs to take what they want from the image and mix and match what they want. I removed some things that felt unnecessary, and added some things I felt could be helpful. I also made a separate sheet of Magic paths, with arbitrary levels to gain in as you upgrade your magic; again up to QM discretion.

When a race is chosen, one of the two perks (in blue) should be chosen too.

Just looking for some opinions on it right now, and will run a game in the next couple of hours too :)

After a century of war between the Goblins and the Fauns, the tides turned. The Fauns gained a foothold in a key stronghold and managed to annihilate most of the Goblin army. The surviving Goblins fled. Those who couldn't flee were executed, or worse.

30 Goblins managed to escape and fled into the heart of the jungle. You are largely without equipment or resources, and only have enough food to sustain you for a couple of days.

There is dense jungle on every side of you, with plentiful wildlife and wood. There's an abundance of colourful fruit 50 feet into the canopies above you, but without a means to climb it would be very risky.

What do you do? (2 actions)

Choose leader
Scout area
Hunt for food
Start building ladder system into trees so that we can building a treehouse kingdom

Scout the area
Choose Leader

One in the trees, with fake dens in the ground, and a fake village for our enemies to 'discover' if they get this far in. Meanwhile our lovely tree homes will keep us safe.

Also, we can run a mine and disguise it as an underground, hidden village if we do it right.

Half of your Goblins head out into the jungle to scout and relay back what your surroundings look like. A forest area is to your north, plains to your west, a body of water to your east and hills and plains to your south. The scouts report that the plains sport a herd of large quadrupeds with large curved antlers.

Meanwhile, the other Goblins head further into the jungle. They manage to find a small group of primates amongst low branches, but can't manage to attack them with no weapons. All they can seem to find are mushrooms and very low hanging fruits. Not nutritious enough for Goblins but it will last.

A larger Goblin with a bullring in his nose seems to be commanding the others, they are wary of his size (he must be half Hobgoblin) but could overpower him if he gets too cocky.

Kiki Jiki "Big'Un" commands a handful of Goblins to begin crafting something to use as defense and utility. A group of tinkerers find some large chunks of dead wood from the jungle floor, and chip away at them with stones. Eventually, they come back with makeshift clubs, that can dual purpose as hammers.

Meanwhile, under orders from Kiki, 10 Goblins head to scout the quadrupeds. They do not return this night, but Kiki Jiki is not worried. He trusts his followers, or rather their fear of his size. They'll return in due time.

You're right, my bad.

You send 15 Goblins to head into the jungle to hunt the primates, with Kiki at the front. Nobody can deny his eagerness to get involved.

You find a group of the furry creatures sat alongside a small puddle, lapping it up and frolicking. You stay as quiet as you can, before leaping from the undergrowth and smashing as many skulls as you can. The creatures scatter, but a few well placed throws bring more to the floor. You return to your small clearing and begin to skin them for the meat. One Goblin remarks that he'd like some 'munkee underclothes'.

Meanwhile, the scouts return. Minus one. They report that they couldn't find any sign of other races tampering with the creatures, they're just local fauna. However, when moving around the side of the clearing, a young Goblin by the name of Mutz managed to step on a strange purple plant. He soon begin to throw up, and his friends tried to heal him as best they could. Alas, late at night, he passed away. They waited until morning to return with the news. They report that the quadrupeds seem docile, and not much of a threat; yet they are large in number and could be dangerous if they stampede.

A Gobline named Trugg, after a lot of playing around, manages to fashion a new type of weapon from mixing wooden components with sticks found on the floor. Kiki names him Chief Engineer and has the Goblins start making the weapons in mass production. They slice through flesh rather well, and are balanced enough to be lethal when thrown at ranges of around 20 feet.

Kiki orders 10 Goblins to head into the jungle and test the weapons.

A couple of hours later, they return with an abundance of primate corpses, as well as a 4 legged creature with slim legs about the height of a Goblin. It seems the weapons work well, and with a group of hunters tasked with setting out into the jungle each day, you should be able to support your current population quite well.

The Kiki and the 10 Goblins (nicknamed the Green Sneakers) head out again to hunt down the more of the indigenous jungle creatures.

Meanwhile, Trugg overseas construction of some dirt pits in the jungle floor. The Goblins use the blades of their new bone axes to shovel dirt out and create some rather large pits with sides 10 feet long. They reinforce the walls with sticks too.

It becomes apparent that 6 of the Goblins have become pregnant, and will not be able to take actions until they give birth.

Later in the evening, Kiki returns with 6 of his hunters. He tells a story of a great shadow monster that flew amongst the Goblins, tearing them to pieces where they stood. The remaining Green Sneakers fled as fast as their stumpy legs would carry them, dropping all of their hunt in the process. Kiki said that the beast nested in the area to the North, and he bears a large clawed scar across his cheek as a token of his visit there.

Seems like given our current situation getting the basics will be vital. Shelter, tools, foods already gotten thanks to hunting but herbalism could help survival rates via medicine and net some food (maybe)

Also trapping. #1 reason I see goblin threads die off is because people underestimate how crap they are at fighting without a clear advantage. We could bag game and defend the camp with traps.

Trugg, in his great wisdom, realises that it would be smart to start setting up defenses of your small camp. He gets the Goblins that are able to start digging small pits in the ground at the most convenient places to trek through. He has them covered with brittle sticks and leaves to camouflage them and then marks a nearby tree with monkey blood to signify that there is a pitfall there, to reduce the chance of a Goblin wandering into it.

10 Goblins leave to scout out the south of the jungle, they find a small area of woods, which they stay clear of. Beyond that, the terrain stretches into hills for as far as the eye can see. There are some strange looking creatures in the distance, like small clouds with heads and legs poking from them. Upon return, they also relay the information that the wooded area had much better quality trees. The wood of the jungle would be too springy to build structures with, however the forest wood looks much sturdier. Yet who knows what else may be in the trees?

Meanwhile, Kiki and the Sneakers head into the plains and watch the quadrupeds (nicely named Kwods by an observant fellow). The Kwods seem to move between patches of grass to graze, occasionally settling near small pools of water to drink. Kiki is eager to get up close and see what happens. The others warn him but he pays no heed. He heads up and screams a battlecry, the other Goblins follow suit.

The Kwods scare easily and head off in the opposite direction, leaving a single frail looking member behind to fend for itself. The Goblins circle it. It pats it's hoof on the ground and charges Tiki. He meets the charge and is soon entangled in a pile of Goblins and mammal. Eventually, when the dust clears, the beast is dead, along with another Goblin. Tiki seems to have lost an eye to the beast's curved horn. The Sneakers lay their friend to rest (kicking some dirt on him without so much as a second look) and drag the beast's carcass back to camp. Tiki has his missing eye bandaged upon return, and will be out of combat for a little while.

Harvest some of the better wood, hunt the safest animal available.

No idea why I started calling him Tiki, I'm tired.

Well that went better than I expected. But our current chief is going to get killed at this rate. Thankfully goblins breed fast.

I'm tempted for the woods but somethings off about it. Scout deliberately first.

Second action study herbalism? We noticed something that might be a good poison and goblins need any edge they can get their mitts on.

I know we want stuff but we've already learned theres shit out there that will gank our goblins rapidly. I'd rather not lose all our new surplus minions just yet.

Your Goblin scouts head into the forest they scouted to the south. They do not find anything out of the ordinary, except a strange feeling about the place. Almost like there is a magical aura around the area, but Goblins are so inept with arcana that they aren't even sure if they feel it or not. They report it all the same.

Meanwhile, Trugg attempts to create something a little more substantial at fighting from a distance, but the attempt is fruitless on this day. All he manages to muster up is a few polished pebbles for the Goblins to throw at people. Your people barely have the strength to destroy an apple with these however, never mind bring down an attacker.

The Sprogs are all grown up! Your ranks are increased, and Kiki seems to have got over his wound, however he is sporting a gruesome empty socket and a large claw mark on his face. He's a fearsome sight to behold.

The new surge of inhabitants means that you can no longer sustain yourself on hunting alone, and must broaden your horizons, but how?

Good start Fenrir.

Also the woods are magic? Hmm, either Dryads or some kind of manawood then if its just literally vibrating with mojo.

Gonna be interesting to check it out next time.

Lets start by taming some of the quadrapeds
>>
>>39853886
This seems the best course of action, for both food and mounts.
>>
>>39853886
Bout alll we got but thats for next time.

Isn't there the water source nearby? could fish or something.. honestly jungles make for horrible starting terrain, the plains south and their "puffy clouds" should do great for tamable creatures. Sheepies are always push overs!

Plus no pointy horns to maim goblins with.
>>
>>39853740
Tame the quadrupeds, scout near the east, there might be fish in them there waters.
