The Leviathan is here.
A curtain of Black Storm clouds, black skies, a deep dark tide, and the constant cacophony of splitting thunder and lightning crashing down into the ocean herald the arrival of it's true king: The Leviathan.

The Leviathan is not a fish and it is so much more than a mere 'whale'. The Leviathan is the Ocean. The Leviathan is the Sea. The Leviathan brings the tide and the Leviathan brings the Waves.

The Leviathan shapes the shore and carves the bay. The Leviathan is the one that melts the Ice and raises the sea.

The Leviathan possess complete dominion over the ocean. When it's mouth hangs open the waters submit to the Leviathan and bestow upon it their bounty as tribute: Fish, Reptile, Shellfish, Birds, Vegetation, krill and plankton- no gift is too small, no morsel too paltry.

The Leviathan itself is to large to be seen. The Leviathan stretches over the Horizon. The Leviathan wraps around the world. The most visible portion of the Leviathan is it's blowhole: a bellowing smoke stack of steaming vapors that boil the seas around it in a constant swirling vortex and where in the heart of the storm resides.

>- Environmental Development: The Leviathan has Arrived.
>The Leviathan's presence supersedes that of local currents and winds: it has full control over what the tides and local waters do- mysteriously enough it even possess limited control over even freshwater sources leading into the ocean.
>The Leviathan's presence makes trade to the south impossible; The Leviathan however is too large to enter into the bay or "shallow sea", so you are safe near inland and on the reefs.
>The Leviathan can also eat coral; it is theoretically possible for him to eat some your islands, it would be advised not to provoke him.
>There is a Silver lining: The Leviathan takes, but it also gives back. The Leviathan defecates once a week: The Leviathan's feces is rich in nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and even vapors that would normally cause an algae bloom, but instead rejuvenate and nourish the continued sustained growth of the ocean.
>Due to the Bowl Movements of the Leviathan; there is an entire Ecosystem of aquatic life that constantly surrounds the Leviathan and lives off it's emissions: Whales, Sharks, Birds, Fish and so much more. The Leviathan's body though is too hot to touch; it hosts no parasites and cannot be landed on.

>+/- Political & Economical Development: The Coral City seeks refuge.
>Many of the Inhabitants of the Coral Cities and Merfolk villages were caught in the cross fires of the Leviathan's migration; they did however have ample time to prepare and seek shelter though. Hundreds and possibly thousands of Merfolk are temporarily seeking refugee in the crystal clear, shallow, waters of your reefs. While they're here; they provide a small amount of tribute in the form of free labor and spiritual assistance.

Alright guys, go ahead and get rolling. D20 for Action. D100 for Ideas. I'll pick three, etc.. Sorry for the wait!

Let's expand our ability to support the merfolk refugees. They are our cousins, it would be terrible not to assist them.

Also, did we ever manage to expand the great serpent bridge to the land? Or was that one of the 20s that never got used back when we had like, 5 crit successes?

Question OP, but is half the golden bolt still embedded in the Progenitor Reef? if so we might need to launch a recovery mission. It's obviously a poor idea to provoke the Leviathan at this point.

Again this assumes we didn't recover it somehow while i wasn't looking.

If we're gonna have merfolk living more amongst us now, maybe it would be an idea to do some studying into their Psionics. Maybe we can try communicating on their level. And learning telepathy might help us communicate with creatures like the antpeople.

I remember the Hydra mother was kinda living in the basement of her priesthood's temple.

That ain't fair. We should pull together and make her a 'vacation home' of sorts, a place where she's not just underfoot and ignored but can feel like she's actually doing some good and having fun.

An apology for our part in what happened to her.

>Everyone has rolled better than you.

Your people have never encountered the Leviathan before and they're caught with their pants down for the most part. Popular opinion dictated that the rising of the sea was most likely just some sort of environmental condition; times changes, the environment changes with it, etc.. Many people were not genuinely expecting something akin to the Zizz of the Sea to actually arrive.

Their emergency relief as a results.. leave much to be desired, just short of complete disaster; many merfolk are homeless and many more are stuck living in the reefs.

What's more concerning though is the lack of Cyclopes: there doesn't appear to be any "Coral" Cyclopes within the ranks of the Merfolk Refugees- or at the very least, very, very few of them.

>The Leviathan Rolls 7. FOUR. TIMES.

>TOO MANY SEVENS. COINCIDENCE CAN'T BE IGNORED.

A small party advances forward towards the Progenitor's Reef and the Coral city; slowly floating over in the safety and comfort of a flying ship as to take a boat would be idiocy and partial suicide. All the while there; your Cyclopes can see the numerous imprints of sea creatures schooling in great numbers away from the oncoming maelstrom that is the Leviathan's presence- a number of those shadows surfacing up to the mix of pale blue, green, and even orange hued tones of Merfolk waving at the floating pot before swimming towards your island homes.

There's something unusual going on though: The Progenitor's reef hasn't been abandoned, not only has it not been abandoned, but you as well see a number of Southern Cyclopean Iron Ships hovering around just outside it's bay and there seems to be an almost ethereal, dimly, golden aura of static surrounding the entire city- in the epicenter of this phenomena is the piece of the Golden lightning bolt you've come to "rescue" embedded within a spire of Coral that's grown underneath it from the city square and outflowing a constant fountain of golden Mana.

The Coral"clopses" are not among the Refugees because they never left.
Every single one of them has stayed and jerry-rigged the entire city into a living monolith that is currently being powered by an extremely powerful orchestra composed of their citizenship; with a number of two-headed Cyclopes and Sages leading this Arcane band.

The presence of the City is almost overwhelming; it crackles with excess golden lightning that sends out shockwaves rippling through the wave that dispels them with an unnatural calm.

>Send an Apology and Tribute to the Hydra Mother; currently condemned to "Figurehead".
>Roll 4, 14 & 14 / 20
>Hydra Mother Rolls 12/20
>Success through twin rolls: Odd number brings odd results.

The World doesn't exist within a Vacuum, the Leviathan's presence brings it's own turmoils and tribulations, but there are other things going on: your people living on the Mainland are concerned about the Hydra Mother.

She dwells within the catacombs, the complex underground tunnels and hollowed caves beneath the Gorgons Cities- connected by their sacred temples and the hollowed out ancient mycelium of their totemtic fungal trees....She dwells in mire and mild boredom: she has been reduced to the status of a "figurehead"- contempt broods within in her; she was once an empress, a leader and god among her people. Now she essentially lives under "house arrest".

She welcomes your presence, though she is lethargic and a bit snide, "Yes, hello babies.. you brought me something to drink? How thoughtful of you- it'd be nice to have something take the edge of.. it gets quite boring down here." Your small party take their seats; laying across, around, and on top of the great lengths of her Hydra lower section- the Hydra Mother remaining unresponsive.

Her maidens slowly start slithering into the room before she breaks the long, awkward, silence, "I'm not mad, you know. I'm willing to admit what I was doing 'might' have been a little heavy-handed.." She trails off a little; not so much talking to you, but 'at' you about good and evil, about control, and subtly.

She eventually grows content; having ranted on about every little thing she wished to say, "I know how tiresome it can be to listen to a 'mature' woman such as myself drone on about herself, so why don't you let me repay your tribute with a mutual kindness?" Her maidens meticulously and sensually coil around her Cyclopean Audience.

>The Hydra Mother is bitter, but she is not holding a grudge.
>>
>>39855075
Having her under house arrest is no good though...
>>
>>39855108
she clearly needs some kind of "authority" other than being some bored monarch figure head. She needs a hobby, and needs to do something more important than lying around.

We are gathering a small collection of Demigods, with another ominous egg on the way. Maybe she can run that? The head amongst a council of demigods?
>>
>>39855108
>>39855172

I dunno, this is a lot better then her actually running anything.

Remember what happened when she was in charge of the gorgon empire? It just became "Orochimada praise and worship vehicle"

She needs maybe a way to reconcile with her people more then anything else...though yeah giving her something to do would help.
>>
>>39855216
what would you suggest she do then?

She can maybe operate as some "defender of the realm" she's proven herself pretty awesome at that in the Great Progenitor Crisis.

Maybe she can be some celestial emissary seeing as she's officially been there done that, in relation to the cosmos, but I dunno if Foliatom has got that covered.

Maybe she can provide insight to the Abzyou Egg?
>>
>>39855397
All of those are good things. And I agree getting her involved with her kids would be a good starting point. She just needs to learn about letting other people have control.

Maybe starting with her giving parenting tips to Aby would be a good idea

>Confer with the rowdy child huntress of the waves about the presence of the leviathan, ask if there's anything else we can do to help mermen and others of the ocean while it is in the sea

>This Doesn't require a Roll

It isn't difficult to find the goddess; she's grown into a young adult at this point as is no longer considered "rowdy", but a strong, competent, and firm leader and figurehead to her people. She currently though has been swimming back and forth between the Progenitor's Reef, The Volcanic Isle, and your own Reefs for days now in quite a stressful Tizy.

Your Sages manage to briefly catch her as she rests on a hot rock on one of your shores; taking a break, catching her breath, and being warmed by the sun's rays as her followers tribute her kidness and solidarity with fish.

She has mixed feelings about your people's presence and grows mildly annoyed, you can feel the psychic anxiety of her own patron species when you question her on how you could be of assistance. She rolls over onto her stomach and her head tail shivers with frustration, "Your people have done quite enough- just, just please; stay out of the way. Can you do that for me? Could the Cyclopes please just stop interfering? Could your entire species just quietly stay out of the ocean for a few years?" When your people express discomfort and confusion she seems to calm down and elaborate more clearly.

"The Cyclopean Citizenship of the Coral City have.. effectively "taken over" the City. They thought I was patronizing them as a species.. that I was belittling their authority. Something about calling them Goofs- I dunno." She bites her lower lip and sucks in air, "So now they're making everything just a bit more difficult for everyone involved and the BEST part about it, really, just the CLOWN FISH on the SEA ANENOME: they might even manage to kill the Leviathan...Which would be bad."

I would imagine it as putting the entire ecosystem into flux. This is a BIG world with BIG creatures in it. The Leviathan, Zizz, and likely the Behemoth are primordial elementals and the Land Sea and Sky incarnate.

Imagine what killing one might do the world? Seas get a lot less dangerous yes, but the seas would still be full of dangerous things in an environment that doesn't challenge them. Seamonsters that basically don't get eaten by a super fish.

I guess the only thing that's worse is if they Attempt to Kill Leviathan, but fail. And the resulting comeuppance that occurs thereafter.

So its
Great Serpent Bridge (reversed)
the Cosmic Serpent
The Merman (Reversed)
The Weeping Sage
And lastly The Spirits (Reversed)

So we got some bad random event (the Leviathan rising) and the assocations of travel and exodus from the Great Serpent Bridge

But we might get through this with Communal strength, our Extended and adopted family of Merpeople are coming to us, and its our extended family of Coralclopses that might be at the heart of this situation, from the Cosmic Serpent.

Merman is a given. This is gonna be all about them as a whole. And its hard times ahead in general.

This whole affair might be assuaged by self sacrifice and aid. Thus the symbolism of the upright Weeping Sage card.

Should we fail there will be disharmony and bad weather. According to the Reversed spirits.

The Weeping Sage is definitely the Keystone card in that reading. Do we aid the Merfolk in this time? Or do we do what Zeto says, and abstain from helping them, for risk we make things worse.

Or is it going to require the literal sacrifice of us or the Coralclopses to the Leviathan?

>>39856218
Yeah last i checked the Merfolk card is the one that lacks a description and proper meanings.

I feel it could have lot to do with family, but estranged family, and considering these cards were developed in the aftermath of the Great Progenitor crisis we have that frame of mind to work with. They were genealogical cousins under the sway of an uncaring and "abusive" authority figure.

It could be about barriers and separations, and reaching out. Leaving the water, letting someone into your head, and going forward to meet someone half way.

>DUBS. HOT 77'S. ENDLESS. SEVENS.

As annoyed with your species as she is; she admires and respects how quickly your people are willing to assist and provide hospitality.. more importantly though when it really comes down to it: Cyclopes were once creatures of the sea as well and she cannot help but by sympathetic towards you on some level.

She eventually relents and feels comfortable enough to go on about Merfolk culture. "There isn't really much to go on about; their civilization for the longest time was incredibly nomadic and that mobile culture didn't really facilitate a lot of solidarity or nationalism. Merfolk lived in small temporary colonies, they traveled around the entire ocean- only stopping when they reached the northern hemisphere which is dominated largely dominated and owned by the selkie species- so, you know; hi, bye, ecetera.. Um, that was the norm though- until the Progenitor awakened." She lets out a small awkward laugh before continuing. "Now, he apparently was de-thawed out ice? Or crawled out of the center of the earth? His origin story is confusing, but he brought a lot of hierarchy and a very sedentary life style to the species: he taught them agriculture, animal husbandry, aquatic architecture, and that sort of thing- more as a means of control and conquer and less so as a means of progression."

Zetoscea hand waves towards some of her nearby priests and priestesses, "They say the Merfolk used to have shamans- they were really big into shamanism, elementalism, and animism, but the progenitor brought them more towards an organized religion that de-valued magic and the soul and put more emphasis on the "mind" and psychic prowess."

She slowly trails off, "Telekineses isn't a happy practice; the powers of the mind derive strength from looking within and grow immense from isolation."
>>
>>39856371
Well we should offer to help them redevelope shamanism and magic of the soul again. Even if it means that they lose telekinetic and telepathic abilities... No one should be forced into isolation as they were, and they are our cousins. When this has passed, we should share our knowledge and abilities. Perhaps they will be able to make some form of bells that will work even underwater. Gongs perhaps.
>>
>>39856449
I agree we should help them rediscover their shamanistic roots but maybe we should also set aside some kind of monastery.

For those Merfolk and/or surfacers like Gorgons and Cyclops that they can take refuge in away from the world to develop their mental prowess through meditation and secular seclusion.

"The power of the mind. Limitless potential from perpetual awareness; the mind's eye wide open, always awake within the realm of dreams and stars. Seeing past the obstruction of the soul and the restrictions of the body. There, in the endless expansion of your own mind can you truly gain your solidarity and independence to manifest destiny over reality." She says this with an eerie level of memorized fluidity- The subconscious influence of another's will.

Zetsocea has to be gently prodded by one of her followers before she slowly slithers out of her trance, "Yes, well, as I was saying: It's the power to be completely surrounded by people and still feel horrendously lonely.... But on the other hand: without Telepathy we wouldn't be able to communicate with you guys, you know?"

Finally, she ends her cultural exchange on an oddly personal note. "That's been really the defining thing for me at least.. I don't really care to rule, because the more I find out about how things should work the more it turns into having to sacrifice others for the sake of someone else and.. I can't do that, you know? There used to be three species of aquatic humanoid: The Merfolk, The Cyclopeans, and the Cephalonoids. The Merfolk stayed behind, you guys adapted and evolved to life on land and the Cephalonoids speciated into Changelings and Squid people.."

She slowly cradles her head, "They didn't tell me about the Squid people; The Merfolk never knew about them because they were consumed by the Progenitor before they met him.. But I can hear them, you know? I can hear them sometimes when I sleep..I-It isn't always so bad, but I'll never get over how badly they wanted this body.." Zetsocea quietly lays on her side, her tail slowly coiling around herself.

"I was born instead of them and I can hear them. They wanted it so bad and sometimes I think, 'that's just it, isn't it? I'm alive, but they don't get a second chance' that's the joke. It's all arbitrary. Chaos."

Thus begins the era of cyclopean non-interventionism.

I mean not that I exactly object myself. The only concern i have is that a group of cyclopses are at the root of the problem. And if there is one thing cyclopses are good at, is reaching out to other cyclopses. We talked Red World Cultists down from making a portal, we talked to our southern cousins and work still to open their shell. and there was the Observatory researchers, whom we ironed things over with just last session.

I'm worried about if they'll take "drastic" measures against these cyclopses, and worried even more when and if they're unsuccessful.

Our interventions also had negative results; For example the whole debacle with Parrats is solely our fault and we are partially responsible for how thing when down with the Hydra Mother since our mingling with the Gorgons enable her early resurgence. I am not saying we should turn to isolationist but we have to be more responsible in our actions and dealings with other races.

Mana is basically primordial ooze as far as we know. It produces life and nourishes it. The reason it "Goes away" and evaporates in the open is because the microbes in the damn AIR feed off mana.

As for "Creating" or Recreating races by using mana, it might be a bit outside our remit. I mean fucking around with creating sentient races is how the parrats happened.

That said if there is one race that we could use to experiment with mana it could be them. And Sun Knows they might need any boon they can get considering the odds and abuse they face from the kenku.

The Sages council after many ruined beach volleyball games, fishing trips, and the constant battering of storms and ominous black clouds upon the horizon.. they've decided to "expand" their island homes. Yes, they mean this literally: They've spread out, designed, and laid out the nessecary monoliths and resources to begin the construction, extension, and advancement of the canals to include designes for an "aquatic" portion of their cities and villages in much the same way as built by their Coral city dwelling siblings and Snake reef neighbors.

Following proper Geomancy procedures and modern masonry techniques: Pillars, walkways, channels, and reefs are constructed within the shallow tide of your reefs oceans and are able to support the founding of an entirely new district onto your own Arcanum. What's more; your rural, small, rustic little island villages themselves are finally able to expand further- no longer having to threaten the deforestation of their small islands, they may now build and expand onto the ocean itself.

These "aquatic" districts are cleaner, easier to manage, and provide ample room for aquatic food production and increased maritime economic potential, and Merfolk feel comfortable dwelling within them- they are also GORGEOUS.. they do however need to have freshwater imported to them.

>+New Technological Development: Aquatic Cities
>Pillars of white, sleek, stone houses, buildings, and streets with Cyclopean design and beautifully topped with vegetation and the bustling of Cyclopean lives. These cities are a far cry from the shanty towns once built on the snake reefs. These Cities are strong, durable, and essentially "artificial islands" unto themselves.

>Complete success: Imperfect 20, +Racial nepotism

Despite the eminent danger and presence of the advancing Leviathan; the Coral city and it's cyclopean inhabitants continue to stubborn persist in the face of the storm. It doesn't seem you're alone though, having observed previously; the Southern Cyclopes are there as well to negotiate a means to their own motives and ends.

The Cyclopes of the Coral city though seem to be a spurned and emotionally disturbed people; the radiance and emotional strength of their symphonic hymns cannot be denied and those who are not aligned or in tune with it's harmony are brought easily to their knees. Your Sages question the people from a safe distance.

Their own sage council comes forth; a committee of both young and old, dressed in the brightly coloured hues of the reefs the cherish so dearly. They come to you with sympathy, but passion. "Islanders, when are you going to stop being spectators and start participating? You need to start reading the writing on the walls, cousins: they don't respect us, we're a joke to them; these "Demi-gods", these creatures of flesh, bone, and mana trying to pass of as divine beings while they call pass judgement on us, call US goofs, and belittle our achievements." They raise their hands, the golden lightning bolt vibrates graphically and the coral resonates with a movement belittling the level of spiritual infusion- pulsing with life and rhythm as golden lightning crackles.

"The Sky is heralded by a great eye, the night is welcomed by another, and the void of space is only held back by the many singular eyes that make up it; this is OUR world, Cousins. This ancient, primordial, and savage world is a world of GIANTS and we are those Giants. Take hold of your Heritage and crush destiny; BE THE COMPOSER OF YOUR OWN HYMN."
>>

Those are some interesting points. We just don't really need respect I guess. The sage council on the island is still pretty much two steps and a barrel of liquor away from being a drunken frat.

And if they break the world doing it? Do they know why these great beings walk the earth? We know of the primordial beings, the elder things that once were and would seek to undo our world, to drag it back to what once was, but the things like the leviathan, the zizz, they are as much a part of this world as we are!

We must work to understand. We bow before no gods, they are our family, older than us and respected for that. The merfolk and changelings our cousins, the Gorgons our sisters, daughters, and wives, the Kenku our neighbors, the parrats our failure, our responsibility and wards... The gods and demigods are our elder siblings and relations, aunts and uncles, even mothers and fathers, at the very least they are our elder brothers and sisters.

There is no sense in trying to demand our own superiority... To try to supplant others. We are all connected, all drawn together by a multitude of songs. To create a hymn such as this that separates rather than draws together is horrendous, and if they succeed in destroying the leviathan, what of the world that follows? Less water could mean more exposed ice, another elder thing freed, more death and horror than the transient passing of a great beast.

Damn this is rough, I'm not too good at Public Speaking.

But here it goes.

They're right. We are the giants of this world, we are the driving force of this world, but we do not exist in a vacuum.

We are not gods that have some right to pass judgement on others.

But they are not giants, and they have no right to pass judgement on us.

Zeto was wrong to call us goofs, but we don't sway her or other demigod's opinions by blustering and and crying. We don't shout at others.

We exert our will on the world. Yes. But we exert it together, with all things. Cyclops and Gorgon, North and South, Land and Sea. We rule, but rule together. And the same applies to them. We are important, not more important than gods or merfolk or gorgons, no rather, they are as important as us.

Brothers and sisters. You have done much, seen much, and are much. The power you have tapped into is amazing and the way you wield it speaks of your skill. But power is not what makes a cyclops great.

A cyclops measures his worth in the number of people he can call friends, the size of his family and the dedication of his lovers. A cyclops takes pride in many things- a job well done, a meal well cooked, a daughter or son- but wielding power for powers sake is not one of those things.

We know the demi-gods are not creatures of divine infalliable will like the sun or moon or stars, but they are still our friends. Our family. We help them, and they help us. When we listen to their advice we do so not out of blind obedience but out of respect.

Zetsocea has lived a lonely life. She is not used to our ways and she speaks brusquely. But she is our family and we know she speaks from the heart. And that she cares for us as much as we care for her.

Brothers, you are our family. We love you. We speak now out of concern not just for your well being but for the state of the place you call home. Killing the leviathan would be an awesome task. But whenever cyclops have wielded awesome power just for its own sake has it ever worked out well in the long term?

Killing the leviathan is not just about making your ocean safe- because to kill it would harm the ocean in unimaginable ways. So we ask you to consider our plea and, as family, find a solution that will be to the benefit of all.

We are not cry babies. We just do not kill when not necessary. We have fucked up tremendously before. We cannot do so again.

Why attack a thing for simply being alive? Just because it threatens us when any real harm could harm us all more? When simply standing aside and letting it pass will do far more.

As for the southern cyclops wanting us to stand up for ourselves? Fine. We get it. They want that? This is it. We'll start working our way south and fucking -solve- this fucking problem they have. The primordials, the elder things. We will solve it not through violence but our own fucking methods.

Every time we work to make the world better for all? Things work out at the end of the day. Every time we take violent action. Every. Fucking. Time. Things are made worse.

The coral cyclopses don't want to kill the leviathan, but they do seem hungry to EXERT agency over it some how. Prove they can protect their world from it if need be.

They're the young street tough with everything to prove. But they don't have any need to prove it. We know they're awesome. They know they're awesome, the only people that feel to the contrary is Zeto. And that might be the core of their beef.
>>
>>39858263
Then change all the mentions of killing to controlling. Seriously. When has taking violent action or control over a thing ever worked out well for us?
>>
>>39858298
Pretty much this. If there is one story, one recurring sin of cyclopean history, its the Error of Hubris.

Back to even the bygone days of the First Sage, when we were primitive and lost, hubris caused his fall. Hubris angered an earth elemental and caused its havoc in the home island. Hubris called the Wrath of the Zizz, a wrath only assuaged by humility of the Weeping Sage. Hubris birthed the sad history of the Parrats, and hurt the gorgons. Hydra Mother's Hubris even hurt herself.

Hubris, the Idea One Should Stand Above All, is a liquor so sweet but substance most ruinous.
>>
>>39857871
There is no need for such drastic actions. You've proved here and now how strong our kind is. No other race of being can channel the entirety of our faith and strength with the beauty and ease that we can. We bend the world to our aid with our voices and sympathy.

No other being is as great as the whole of the cyclops, we've proven this so many times over. Our Southern kin are proof of this as well. They are beset by horrors and strife on all sides and still they are indomitable.

Zeto is young still, she is brash and curt yes but she is also one of our kin. She means no ill will to you or any of us. She and the Merfolk are our kin and blood just as much as the Coral Cyclops and the Southerners.

Please listen to us, Brothers and Sisters. Our destiny is ours yes but our destiny is intertwined with every living being on this planet both mundane and divine. Our destinies are all connected by our wills and songs.

Please let us welcome your chorus back into ours.

You can feel it leaving the hearts and minds of the people; something deeply reminiscent of a long ago transgression- rife with anger, resentment, and sorrow.
"You will never be free of me. I am as much a part of you as you are of me. I transcend Death. I supersede Creation. I am the Mind; I am elevated thought- the great and endless splendor of imagination, ego, and id."

"I am the Great Progenitor" His words form themselves from distant memories long forgotten by your people through generations; left to be mistranslated, lost to time, and only be re-imagined in a different form and subtle suggestion. Not as a physical body, but as a single driving desire for change and hubris.

"The Dream will come true; not today, not tomorrow, but hope remains in me. You thought you had won. I thought I had lost- a great wave of sorrow, anger, and bitterness over took me and I faded into obscurity. I have rekindled hope. I have been born again in the Dream...You flourish on my bones, you perpetuate my flesh, you will come back to me....I can wait. I am eternal. The Dream will come true, children of mine."

"You have looked into the great void; unblinking and with understanding and sympathy. The Dream will come True; and end to suffering." The lucid dream finally begins to fade completely, normality finally starts to return and the people of the city begin making their polite and well mannered escape- it seems even the neighboring storms have lessened..

Through a series of fact-finding, cultural exchange, and study- your people and the gorgon empire itself have come to the realization that the Manticore Tribe has gone more or less extinct. They were not literally "killed" so much as their culture was superseded, outbred, and assimilated into the local Cyclopean dominated Gorgon populations of Mycea's grove- until almost nothing recognizing their own culture remained; save for some interesting fashion and sexual attitudes. Their Ethnic group remains, but their culture has long since been lost by the conveniences and comfort of Cyclopean life.

>+Anthropological Development: The Dinosaur Tribe spreads onto the Plains.
The Dinosaur Tribe though has fared considerable better than their Manticore counterparts: their civilization and society has expanded into the plains and become something so much more. The Introduction of the Horse/Quagga brought dramatic changes to how their society functioned; offering more mobility and military strength as even though Dinosaur were strong, they lacked speed. The Dinosaur Tribes' Nomadic herding culture has come to dominate the neighboring plains, lower jungles, and sparse Fungal woods of the north and southern rivers. Their mastery of Archery, Horse-back riding, and paralyzing gaze has allowed them to terrorize both changelings and ant people alike.

By and large the province of Mycea's grove receives the most rain fall within your civilizations known territories. It is an incredibly damp and humid portion of your world and this is ideal since it is also your major agriculture producer and bread basket.

It is where the father of modern Cyclopean Meteorology was also born. Possessing TWELVE Gorgon sisters and a very prolific mixed-species Gorgon mother and Cyclopes father; he spent much of his free time trying to keep away from his dozens of small, gorgon sisters and within the solace of his hobby; weather.
His studies began at a very young where in he invented two devices that would assist his research and study into weather and later become irreplaceable tools to all weather-based elementalists and farmers: The Weather Vane and the Rain Gauge, devices meant to gauge wind direction and measure annual rain fall over the year.

He very briefly however abandoned his study of weather and under the persistent nagging of his father took up the practice of Hydromancy to become a agricultural elementalists like his father. He hated every moment of this practice although it eventually lead him to apply to a local university within the capital of Mycea's Grove where he met the love of his life and fellow weather researcher: An ex-manticore tribe Gorgon, whom had been studying pyromancy.

Together they would also discover the Thermometer before bringing about the mass production of the Weather vane and Rain Gauge. Content with their achievements they later retired and ironically enough: had 24 daughters and 1 Cyclopean son. Some say they are still fucking to this day.

>The Desalination of Salt-water using Monolithic and Elemental magics of Earth and Water.
>Roll 94/100
>Complete Success.

Salt is something your people have harvested and dried out from the Ocean for millenia; it was one of the very first discoveries and it made the salting and flavoring of food possible- a corner stone in civilization's progress.
Elemental Rock salt is a reagent that was discovered by one Geomancer spiritualist in the volcanic black plateau's of your island homeland; there he researched the behavior of Earth Elemental's in their natural habitat and the various compounds and reagents that could be gathered from them such as Elemental rock salt. His research however was unfortunately cut short: He suffered a terrible fall that left him paralyzed for years; his research was documented, but he rationalized that the remainder of his life should be spent not working, but in peaceful spiritual contemplation. He went on to write many popular naturalistic poems and a very successful children's novel about Moths.
It wasn't well until his Old Age that he finally invented and discovered a Desalination process: having retired upon the "floating cities", he grew sympathetic towards the inconvenience of having to constantly import fresh water into the city. This eventually lead to the development of Small Carved Monoliths; framed, and hollowed out- as the water passes through them, the "Salty" Monoliths latch onto the salt particles within the water and only allow freshwater to pass through. These Monoliths though are "disposable"; the Salt eventually entirely consuming them before their stability and construction falters and they fall apart.
>+Magical Development: Desalination Discovered
>Desalination does what it says on the can: removes the salt out of salt water, converting it into freshwater. Your people can actually drink large quantities of salt water without negative effect, but why would they when freshwater tastes so much better?

>Fact finding diplomacy missions into the southern cyclops lands. We shall learn of those who called our distant ancestor kin, and if they can be redeemed or permanently suppressed.
>Roll 59/100
>South Rolls 95/100
>The Leviathan Rolls 75/100
>Leviathan needed at least an 80.

The century drags on and the Leviathan's presence has almost completely peacefully passed over your ocean's side of the world: The slithering, seemingly endless tail, fins, and flukes of the creature can be seen and heard slowly wavering up and down taking an entire hour to come cracked down upon the waves before it brings about a constant and predictable tidal force to propel the creature's departure.

Your people think this is as good a time as any to make the commute via air-ship to the Southern's Country and do some fact checking on the origins and appearances of all these Ancient and Elderitch horrors that continue to plague your two sister civilizations. The trip is mildly dangerous, the weather is still dreadful, but the strength and construction of your latest air-ship models are sound and durable and they make it to the impressive iron docks and coastal metropolis of the Southern nation.

They welcome you in the customary fashion your people have come to expect from one another: Food, Drink, and a hot bath with appealing company followed by more drinks and a night spent by the hearth and sagely discussion. You state your intentions clearly, and their respective Council of Sages, Tradesmen...-with slight hesitation- give in to your demands. "Tonight we will rest up- tomorrow we will take you out onto the Glacier and show you the cold Void."

Both of the Sage Council's manage to wake up at the crack of mid-day and the flying-ship is taken down to the foundry to receive repairs, calibrations, and shipped to the volcanic island for spiritual re-attunment so it can make the journey back home and then some.

Your Sage council though is guided by a guarded entourage of armed Southern Cyclopeans; they have a gruff, serious, disposition to themselves and a cold stare that gazes off into the distance with a constantly aware iris of scrutiny. A long with their respective sage council, you're directed to what appears to be a massive hollowed fortress of ice constructed and maintained within the massive Icebergs that seem to surround the borders of the Southern Cyclopes Territory. "Come, we will bring you to the white void; the ice has always dictated prosperity or calamity and the melting of it has always governed the expansion of our territory and the release of.. interesting things... We will bring you to one of many interesting things: Anemoi-Hoar."
>>
>>39861358
>Anemoi-Hoar
The Gray Wind?
>>
>>39861358
So time to meet our first terrible horror.

And to determine what can be done to help alleviate the burden of our brothers.

They have warred for so long, depended on no others for so long, that it has become all that they are.

We shall see if this can be changed.
>>
>>39861358
>Anemoi-Hoar: Elemental Princess of Ice and Frost, honored 'guest' of the south and warden of the pale void.
She resides within the carved out halls of the Glaciers hollowed caverns; reclining on a throne of ice and surrounded by an audience of spectating southern Cyclopeans- all of them armed either with club, spear, or the elements themselves as they watch over their "guest". She rises up, a Titanic woman of profound dignity and elegance despite her current predicament; flowing regal gown composed of a transparent layer of frost, accompanying a body entirely composed of clear, reflective, living Ice. Her hair is composed of beautiful geometric frozen crystals that are formally presented- her long hand slowly sliding over to adjust her bangs in the presence of others.
Her Face is featureless; possessing no eyes, nose, ears, only possessing a mouth and lips of bashful pristine beauty. The only fault in her design seems to be a pair of black iron bracelets that she wears around her wrists- they appear heavy and mute. The Sage council raises their voice, "Honor our quests."

Anemoi-Hoar slowly rises from her throne, politely places her hands upon her gown and bows before your council before seating herself back down. "This is Anemoi-Hoar, she is the one we keep and tend to, so that the ice does not melt and the horrors do not escape. So that the Dream may never come to pass and so that the world of the waking can continued to be ruled by those awake." The Council motions once more and Anemoi-Hoar brushes the back so she may rise up and guide your council through the halls.

Her constant escort of armed "guards" following quietly behind her, she guides you through the cold halls she is allowed to frequent through, "Excuse the cliche name, my honored guests, but this is the "hall of horrors". In here is where I make sure the frozen horrors of this world's primordial birth are sealed away in my ice. "
>>
>>39861504
Why is she so closely guarded? And what's with the iron bracelets?
>>
You know, we should try filling the atmosphere with lot's and lot's of carbon dioxide. And maybe methane too.

I think that'll improve plant growth.
>>
>>39861575
Shut up and go away.
>>
>>39861504
It's difficult to make out, but your Sage's are just able to make out what appear to be the black, muffled, bodies of.. creatures? It looks like frozen mud- it's difficult to see. Anemoi-hoar however requests your attention.

She delicately raises her hand to direct your Council's attention to the various stairs and scaffolding carved meticulously into the ice that lead feed up into the ceiling before disappearing, "These lead to the Watch towers- carved from the black stone of these hills and to act as watch towers to the geothermal caverns and volcanic plains that rest beneath the White void.. My powers cannot keep that ice frozen as the Lava's heat constantly melts it." She quietly clears her 'throat' before continuing the tour. Showing off the masterfully crafted caverns, highways, and roads that guide and allow traffic to other "safely" defrosted portions of the south.

When the Tour is over she again bows quiet delicately before slowly returning to her throne room. The Southern sage Council then quickly rejoins with you later, "So what did you think? Pretty state of the art, right? She's an Elemental Princess- she used to be shapeless, motive-less, we took her in and gave her purpose. With her on our side we can really make a difference; if we've got the time, we'll show you her "brother", who we have working the Forge, you'll love it."

The field trip leaves a bad taste in your sage council's spiritual mouth; Anemoi-hoar meekly waves your council goodbye: on top of her lonely throne, accompanied by her guards.
>>
>>39861775
Ask why they seem to have 'enslaved' her? She's obviously intelligent, why not simply ask for her help? As a spirit of ice, she should naturally -want- to assist them in matters such as this... guards and bondage should not be necessary.

Aaaanddd.. that's it for tonight's session.
I hope everyone had a great time and I'd like to thank everyone for sticking out for as long as they did.

I hope the quality of story telling has improved to the level you've come to expect out of me and I hope to see you guys make the commitment next Saturday as well!

I've archived the thread, so please go vote: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html

And here is a link to the Google Doc for the Tarot cards (not my project, but really good and really flattering) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KBVlKGna3VGXv30Mrm3ggOpcDjNqng_8XsARdkqzl18/edit
>>
>>39861775
Have they... enslaved their demigods?

Its sort of... Ambiguous. I mean she clearly is the one keeping the horrors at bay, and it seems like something ANY waking being would want, but, they seem to be kind of harsh.

We should really see if we can "invite" their two gods over. or have a demigod council meeting of some sort.
>>
>>39861899
aw? We can't continue longer?

This seems an odd place to stop is all, halfway through the inspection of the southern lands and all?
>>
>>39861899
I was really hoping to meet her "Forge brother" but I'll wait until next session. Man the more I learn about the south the more... "Disturbed" or is it more "dissappointed" by them i get. They seem so close and yet so far gone. And I get it, circumstances were different. But all this god enslavement can't be healthy.

what they run is a prison with other prisoners as wardens. If they ever escaped, the prison falls apart.
>>
>>39861849
>>39861930

Sorry guys, the thing with the South is a BIG time adventure that won't be so easy to wrap up; we're going to have to save it for another time.

You can't just go and save princes and princess in the last minute!
>>
>>39861912
I think these are more like elemental personifications we tried and failed to achieve something productive with in our early stages. They're not gods and goddesses in their own right, more like sentient manifestations of a given element or force in this world. We attempted to get them to help us with stuff, but they were generally couldn't be fucked, and just sort of partied it up with us. Which is how the first cyclopean holiday began.

That the southern cyclops turned them into this...is well, a tad disturbing, but I'm not sure I can blame them.
>>
>>39862016
Well obviously not, but we were hoping for more details before it was wrapped up.

Also I take it that we won't be able to take advantage of the leviathan's leavings... pity.
>>
>>39861912

I have a feeling there's going to be no easy answers. If we free her, she may exact vengeance on the Southerners and leak the Dream into the world.

this quest has got me thinking of running one of my own eventually. Not a civ quest but something that involves a lot of drawing.
>>
Also, we need to consider how to go about this.

First it means a cultural revolution needs to be inniated in the south somehow. A change in culture that goes beyond what currently exists, and even means it might come upon us as well.

Cyclops can no longer be simple party animals. We are custodians. We are diplomats. We build links between peoples where there were none before. We build bridges and bring peace to all peoples, to gods and mortals and spirits alike.

Even to Elder Things.

We have killed one before. Simple containment is not the answer. It can never be the answer.

We must understand them on a greater level. We must find those who are willing to abandon persuit of the Dreaming, and to flow into this world and integrate with it.

Those who are too hostile, too alien, too possessive, to angry at the Waking World, will need to be put down, their carcasses used to feed new life and worlds.

This quest can never be built upon slavery though. That is what the Great Progenitor and those who wish to bring about the Dreaming would do.

The Southern Cyclops have begun to RESEMBLE the things they fight.

hateful of anything that is not them.

Enslaving of others to bring about their goals.

This cannot be allowed to continue lest they become as great a threat as what they fight and must be put down as the Great Progenitor was.

We should get a history of the Southern Cyclops and study it. We need to know more before we make a final decision.

>>
OP? They just contained the elder things right in a prison? They've not actually killed any of them right?

What if we offered them a way to permanently kill the ones they've captured? To have an eventual end to their vigil?

Mycea killed one 'quickly' that was free but had to sacrifice her current incarnation to do so.

What if she had them at her mercy? Could she not put tendrils and roots down into the ice with the help of the princess? Could she not bleed them dry over centuries? Until all that remains is a dead husk, ready to be released into the wilds to feed the births of new species and demigods?
>>
>>39862326
>what about harem overlord?

Yes, There will be many interesting combinations of minions, races, monsters, and dungeons features to provide unique bonuses and allow you to be whatever Dungeon Master you wish to be!
>>
>>39862388
Mana seems to hurt these things too. Sungod Zapped the Progenitor for a while and the golden bolt Hydramother hurled at the progenitor was one of the things that started to eat away at him.

I wonder if they have Divine magic.
>>
Shit... just realized something.

About the Great Progenitor.

He's not infesting our souls.

He's in our genetic memory, in our MINDS.

Fuck shit damn. We have to warn the Changelings and the Merfolk about this immediately.

And our southern brethren.

This makes the telepathic disciplines incredibly dangerous.

We only turned his psychic assault aside because of our massive amounts of unity and togetherness. He subverted the Merfolk because, as a rule, they were already isolated from one another, with no unity or connections really to speak of.

That makes those who undergo the telepathic disciplines incredibly vulnerable to him I bet.

They isolate themselves from others, explore the vast isolation of their own minds.

They abandon their ties to one another, the thing that lets someone resist his call.

And they sit with it just being them and him, in their brains...

Is this a fantasy Overlord quest? Cause I was about to suggest things like "Robot Overlord" or Gravelord Lich or other such things. Still sounds tons of fun.

That is some Fucked Up Grant Morrisson shit right there. An infectious and exploitative idea, a thought that never leaves, the one 'friend' you have, when all others are gone. And that's just the way he likes it.

I can only hope that now that the Merfolk are consolidating into kingdom(s) again, it'll assuage the dangerous aspects of Psionics by having a community. A rich inner life, eased by families and people amongst them.

I like to think everything is fine in moderation. Isolation allows for the development of psionics by way of the soul being desperate to reach out to someone that it uses the mind to touch things. Of course total absolute and extended isolation means reaching out and touching a mind more malevolent and murderous than any other.
>>
>>39862915

Currently I have it broken down as such:

>OVERLORD
You pick what kind of Overlord you'd like to "be". Overlords are primarily based around Archetypes, themes, and different styles of ruling/lording over your dungeon.

>Main Race
This dictates your primary race: they are the bulk of your force and are the leading force/second in command.

>Secondary Race
These are your "complimentary" races: they aren't competent or loyal enough to be trusted by themselves and are meant to assist your primary races evil deeds etc..
Races will have both female and male little illustrations. You'd get to pick "four", but you can pick the same race multiple times.

>Monsters
Self explanatory

>Dungeon "type" and "floors".
What your Dungeon is located in: Fortress, Underground, Ruin, etc.. You'll also be prompted to pick how many levels your dungeons has: More levels, more tiles, but higher level adventurers.

>Dungeon Rooms
Your dungeon is organized by floors and "tiled sections" that are rooms. You pick various tiles/rooms to plan out the design of your dungeon. Things like: Trap room, Flooded room, ?Lava room?, stairwell, hallway, treasure room, Jungle, Fungal forest, etc..

>Dungeon "Features".
These are specific things you can plop down in your dungeon to add further customization and detail: Alchemy lab, Fairy Fountain, Waterfall, Latrine, Demon portal, etc..

>"Achievements"
To add a final level of fun and customization: Unique Achievements and rewards for choosing unique combinations, I.E: "Sex, Explosions, and Rock & Roll: pick nothing but Goblins as your secondary race.", "I am the Lizard King/queen!: pick Dragon overlord and possess nothing but reptilian races and monsters.", etc.. etc..

if harpies aren't a race I'll be severly disappointed.

Also. Harem Lord traits:
>almost all your minions are female
>will easily be able to expand your forces with enough time, if you know what I mean
>Future minions will be of higher quality and far more powerful, inheriting good old dad's powers.
>Expect tons of infighting over the inheritance... and them wanting to get it early.

>Does the overlord become the same race as the "main" race? Like you could be a Goblin Harem Lord? or a Cyclopean Mad Scientist? or Squidman Khan?

that's totally up to the player's discretion: most overlords possess fluid racial options and you're free to decide what race you wish to be. Orc warchief, Human overlord, etc..

Some Achievements would provide interesting racial options for incentive, I.E: Centaur Lich.

The exception are racial specific overlords, like, one option is literally "Dragon". ur a dragon.

>>39863639
>if harpies aren't a race I'll be severly disappointed.
I can definetly include them- any other suggestions?
Like I said before: All Races will have both male and female art.

I've had some time to think about it, but in the EVIL spirit of things I'd be okay with a Harem overlord being an option.

Yeah they were pretty much anti-everyone, but were kind of like... a weird reflection of cyclopean culture. they were crazy party animals that happened to include murder and rape and brutal beatdowns. Having a bit of a zen approach to the cycle of life and death.

I guess you could roll with themes of unfamilarity, and "irreconcilable differences". Especially since a lot of our interactions with them was trying to put them on the straight and narrow despite their Rakdos-like culture preventing them from assimilating as readilly as they should've.

But we still saw something good in them. A diamond in the rough, inner beauty or inner goodness. Maybe that can help?
