Wait no, focus, Maria has to have a fever or something similar messing with her head.

I place my hand on her head, causing her to wince and make a cute little squeak. I bite my lip and draw blood as I feel my dead heart pump once.

"Layla, what are you doing?" She giggles "playing nurse or something, never knew you were into that kind of thing"

She doesn't seem to have a fever, and she isn't acting too unlike herself, maybe she just wants to go outside, still I should make sure she doesn't want to just stay here, where its nice and safe.

Now of course the only problem is getting there since I'm not sure if we're aloud to leave the school grounds, but who cares. We walk over to the air strip where Georgy usually lazes around. Maria doesn't say a word as the constant mob of our peers avoid us. I shake my head and walk to the airstrip faster, they're upsetting Maria, and I don't think she'd like me killing most of our class on our date and I can't just ruin the day because I got a bit mad.

I look around for the fat slob, and spot him, sleeping against one of those planes that can land on water. I walk up to him and kick him in the gut, gently...well not as hard as I could have. He gasps and sits up, his hat flying off as he does so.

He grabs it and glares at me.

"Now that wasn't very kind of ya" He groans, rubbing his protuding gut

"Well we're going on a job, so its rude for you to be sleeping on your job" I say smirking

I blink and yawn, and sit up, wiping some drool from my mouth as I shake Maria. She slowly opens her eyes and rubs them as she yawns sleepily. She looks around and smiles.

The plane slowly rocks back and forth and the door to it is open, and I can smell the familiar smell of rotting fish and wood accented by salty sea air outside.

I walk off onto the pier first, which is about a foot away from where the plane is currently floating on the calm seas. I help Maria over the gap and begin to walk away from the dark grey seas, pulling up my hoodie as the sun begins to make me itch a bit.

"You can go to Brausrburge if you want to Georgy" I say as I walk to the beach besides Maria

"Nah, I'm fine here" he sighs "don't like locals much anyways"

"Well suit yourself then" Maria says "We'll just have fun without you then"

"Oh I sure you will" He says, sounding far calmer than he usually does I wonder why?

Eh doesn't matter anyways, oh the beach is cleaned up a bit, its no longer covered in dead fish and driftwood, they must've known I'd be angry if Maria had to walk over all of that. I smile and walk with her up the newly repaired stairs, made out of polished metal bars and stone steps covered in plastic covers.

"So where do you want to go first" She ask, as she walks a bit closer to me

"Well I was thinking the castle" I say smiling " I mean I'm pretty sure there chefs there still, so we wouldn't have to worry about making our own food if we went there"

"We wouldn't have to worry about it if we went to the town" She says "I mean we are kind of the owners of this place, right?"

"Yeah, but not just kind of" I laugh "We are"

"And we're a lot nicer to them than Thradrick?" She asks "riiight?"

Maria walks ahead of me, her eyes and smile wide as she looks around, almost looking like she's about to cry as she looks around at the old buildings that have been repainted, and the new, larger buildings that have been built, the power lines, and even a small hotel that was built since I last visited, with a sign showing a light brown cat, sleeping with the words "Cat's luck hotel"

"You payed for all of this?" She says, sounding a bit surprised

"Yeah" I say shrugging as she continues to look around in awe

"Oh that one job" I says smirking "the one where I turned that town into a crater, remember?

Maria laughs happily with a carefree smile as I grab her hand and walk up the hill to My...our castle.

The guards outside rush to hide a bottle as they spot us, and bow as Maria gasps in surprise and hugs me, as she sees the statue of herself, standing tall and proud.

"Laylaaaa" She cries as she hugs me tighter "you didn't have to do that, I mean I don't really deserve a statue "

"Well I think you do" I say "first thing I bought with all the money, since it would brighten up the town no matter what, like you do all the time"

She hugs me harder, and doesn't let go for a while as she holds back tears and tries to find words.

"I....love you Layla" She says as she finally stops hugging me

"And I love you, Maria" I say smiling happily as she turns back to her statue, looking a lot happier than she usually does

"Wow, I see that they went a bit over board with the whole cat thing" She laughs as she looks at the two grinning cat statues at the bottom of the stair case "But its a lot nicer than all of the pigs and stuff that there was before, a lot more inviting and green now isn't it"

"Yeah" I say as I walk up the stair case, past a blushing maid with blond braids, who looks like she's wearing a dress two sizes too small "But I like it, though apparently they added a lot of stuff, which I just bought because why not"

"Oh like what?" She asks as we turn down the hall leading to the throne room

"Well I remember them saying they did something with the master bed room" I say "and rebuilt most of the rooms from scratch, actually most of this is new, besides the library, hell some rooms I built just for our enjoyment"

"Oh now that sounds inteeeeresting" She says smiling an all too familiar smile as we walk up to the doors leading the throne.

I open up the doors and Maria's eyes go empty for a moment as she stiffens up, before she blinks, looking confused for a moment before she sighs.
