I stand up, or rather leap up, nearly falling back down on my face a second later. Okay still can't do that easily. I chuckle and stretch, enjoying the warm rays of sunshine touching my face, my ears and tail twitching as I yawn and shake my head.

Well its a wonderful day so far, and is there a better way to start a day than having breakfast with some friends. Luckily I happen to have two of those who went off to have a bit of it a few moments ago. I smile and and walk down the dirt path back to the town, now I think I know where they went, the one inn in town, where we've been staying at, It even has a moving image box, which is nice, since it at least keeps me informed about the world, and that Dra'kal and Akio are at least pretending to get along.

I shake my head, even though that's probably all lies, which hurts me a bit, and that's not even mentioning the fact the next town over was apparently burnt to the ground by crimson maws. No.NO can't think about that, makes me angry, can't be angry. I take a deep breath and walk over to the small building and walk in.

I smile when I see Helga munching on a thing of bread, while her father pokes at some kind of fish dish looking mildly disgusted.

I walk over and sit down without a word.

"Decided to join us My lady?" Helga asks "took ya long enough"

"Indeed, indeed" Mr fisher mumbles as he pokes at his food again.

"Can I have some of that, Mr fisher?" I ask as I stare at the chipped off white plate sitting in front of him with what looks like raw pieces of some kind of fish on it "It's going to get colder I think"

"Oh yes you may, My lady" He says happily as he nearly tosses the plate at me with how fast he tries to get it away from himself "Oh thank the light, I'm going to get some fresh air, and I'll have some food when I get back"

"That was food dad" Helga sighs "just because you don't like it doesn't make it not food, ya idiot"

"You try eating it!" He shouts, as he walks outside, I think I can hear him gagging.

Helga looks at me, with a forced smile, she shakes her head, and goes back to her bread.

"Well at least now we can eat in peace" I say with a smile as I grab a piece of fish and hold over my mouth, before I bite it and slurp the rest of it in...Tastes...like fish, nothing else I can say about it besides it has a bit of a after taste and..I think I can taste how it smells.

I chew it and somehow manage to keep it down, take a breath after I do so. Okay, well this is going to be a long breakfast. I sigh and turn towards the image box, which quickly shuffles around to show something filled with smoke.

and the burning crackling off wood, and distant screams and sobs. I hear cackling and the image moves, as something picks it up, and shows there face, a man with long greasy black hair and tired looking eyes, wearing a mask carved to have long almost needle like teeth on it, covered in something red, far to natural looking to be paint.

"Oi oi oi" He laughs "I know you can hear me world, hehehee, I know this thing is on, so you can't just ignore us now"

The image swivels around to show a burnt out building, I dig my hands into the table as I see that it has several bodies tied to it, that are still moving around, so badly burned I can't tell what they are, if they're human or something else. The man laughs and shakes the camera around.

He hits the ground with a thud, and stands back up, and rubs his eyes.

"Oh big sis" he says happily "didn't see you there, what ya doing here then?"

"Well, we're going to kill some burning maws" I say

"I'm coming along" He says sternly as he shakes his head and slaps his own face, letting out a great bellow as he does so

I hear metal hitting metal, and more screams, yelps and hoots of excitement as the heat of the flames wash over us as we walk into the town of burning buildings. I look around, seeing only flames, and charred bodies lying around in piles, some stilll alive, if you can call that living.

Something, or rather someone is thrown into a building down the street, as I hear Na'kal bellow in pain, before shouting, and I assume cursing, in some strange tongue.

I grit my teeth, and grab his sides as I stumble back a bit as he struggles against my grip, looking a bit confused as to how I'm able to hold him in the air, despite not being tall at all.

I think you don't really understand what gostile territory means. Its all teritory where the majority of military force is hostile to you. There is clearly more bandits here than allied guards, so obviously the territory is hostile.

And it being "in spitting distance of headquarters" obviously didn't prevent these guys from wiping out a whole village.

It's contested, becaue there is still a presence from both fucking sides. Also raiders have a n advantage over guards unless they head straight at them. This isn't Maw territory. Also raiders can wipe out whole villages rather quickly, we'd have missed it without them TVing themselves.

No there fucking isn't. There isn't presence from both sides because the two clans aren't sending patrolls out.
It was EXPLICITLY said that they don't.
Thats why we didn't leave before we were strong enough, because they didn't secure the territory around the starting town. Thats why there were things eating people right out there and no one did anything about it.

There wasn't any presence from the Silver Tails or Bonechawer out here, we are outside their territory.

Kiki is right, I can't take her along with us, since it's far too dangerous for someone as young as her, and I can't leave her here, since no one would take care of her or even care about her

And though I trust the crimson fangs more, they aren't the kind to raise a child, espically a human child. But the Silver tails, even though they a bit. well, untrustworthy is a nice way to put it.

Can I really just send her to live with people like that, and possibly Kiki? Well it's the only choice I have.
