>NO SMUT FOR YOU

Welcome back to the Minotaur Civilization Quest! Last thread we:
>A)
Met Sverfneblin, diminuitive creatures with strange runes etched into their pale blue skin. After meeting them, we sent settlers to the massive hole they lived in and set up shop. They seem like nice people, a bit xenophobic, but nice.
>B)
Furthered relations with the Thriae by sending a boatload of tauren and human males back to their hive. What followed could best be described as the most black and yellow orgy in the history of this world, as well as a massive boost in their numbers.
>C)
Exorcised a ship full of dead migrants, albeit after having some poor guy getting traumatized and dumped in the middle of an ocean.
>D)
Discovered a strange dark green mineral. When we took it to our labs, we saw horrifying images, and nearly summoned the Elder Beings. We managed to stop ourselves without knowing it, but had a researcher go bat-shit insane, coating the walls with his blood, feces, and other bodily fluids.
>E)
Took in a fortress’s worth of dwarves after being informed of their Rockhome falling. This led to many an orgy. On top of this, the Dwarves seem in a constant state of depression, and little more than drink or women can wipe the frown of their face.
>F)
Fucked like rabbits.
We also may or may not have dealt with the zombie outbreak, but that's not important.

I'm new, so forgive me if I ask a stupid question.

Anywyas, I say we send a settlement northwards, towards those plains. Could we get the Dwarves to come with us?
>>
>>40431204
The Dwarves are currently on the other side of the world in Cuth.
>A1: New Settlement
>37: Failure!
>"My king, you do realize that we JUST sent out settlers to Guth's pit, right? Why would we want to send out more people? Would that not just spread our numbers more thin than they are, what with the army over in Cuth?"
Attempts at getting a new group of settlers out to the north fail.

>A2: Crystalids
>67: Success!
With the recent establishment of a U.N., some have grown curious as to what exactly Crystalids...Are. They've no flesh, no bones, no blood. So how do they work? A few diplomats set out, and report back a few days later. The conversation went something like this:
>"How do you work?"
>"We know not."
>"Do you have a central leader?"
>"We used to, but he was assassinated and the clans have fractured into independent nations."
>"Do you have anything useful to tell me?"
>"Sir, with all due respect please leave my lands."
They seem like a friendly bunch.
>>
>>40431453
That wasn't very helpful. Can we ask them specifically for shit? Like katanas and samurai?
>>
>>40431469
That would require a specific roll asking for tech or a trade deal. You may also want a hero to do this, such as William.

>Unwilling Husband: Due to a recent encounter with Queen Cloa of the Thriae, William is now the husband to the Queen, and must make occasional visits to their Hive to satisfy her. Benefits include frequent trading, bonuses to diplomacy, and a guaranteed alliance.
>Lustful: Recent experiences have led William to enjoy the finer things in life, i.e. sex. This gives him a bonus to diplomacy when conversing with women, but must pass a roll first to see if he comes off as seductive or a pig.

More or less he is the closest thing we have to a diplomat, seeing as how our main leaders are on a bridge right now.

Creating some form of formal communication network besides sending runners has always been a dream of your people. >>40431758
>Scouting
>58+5+5+5=73: Above average success!
While these shenanigans are going on, a few idle scouts wander about the countryside. They eventually end up in the Highland Forests. Any human who sees them gives a friendly wave, then goes about their business. Inspecting the local area, they find that what they had thought was the Highlands is actually a very mossy patch of grass. Elaborately carved headstones are placed in a pattern around them. Upon investigation, they have strange symbols carved into them, with a pale blue rock nearby many. They pocket a few and return home.

>R2: Blue Stones
>91+5+5=101: ARTIFICIAL 100!
When the scouts return home, they know that the highest authority they can report to is William. As such, they bring the strange blue gems to him. Upon seeing them, his eyes go wide and his jaw hits the floor. He snatches them from their furred hands.
>"W-wherre did ya find t'ese?"
They explain how they wandered about the wastes (rather irresponsibly I might add). William is noticeably nervous, as well as a bit pissed.
>"YOU TOOK T'EM FRROM TAH GRRAVEYARD?!?! PUT 'EM BACK RRIGHT NOW OR AH SWEAR I'LL GOUGE YER FOOKIN' EYES OUT!"
His booming voice freaks out the scouts, and after a moment they ask why they're so important.
>"Alrright...You see t'ese little blue stones? They hold a 'uman's soul. We put 'em near the grraves so that the dead may rrest in peace with t'eir souls constantly with us. Don' ask me how t'at works. Just put them back!"
Grumbling and a bit shaken up, the scouts head back. But not before taking them to a Pyromancer. He explains (after looking at it for roughly two seconds) that these are "conduits", if you will. The magic in a person's soul is kept in these, and allows them to remain whole. If they're tapped into as sources of power, that person is lost to "the Void" as he calls it.

>96: Amazing success!
The Pyromancer who had worked with the scouts has gears turning in his head.
>"What if we could take that same power without fucking with souls?"
After a few experiments, he finds that standard batteries, if shot enough times with magic of a certain school, act like conduits for that specific type! After the initial excitement wore off, he found that they also changed some physical traits upon touch. If the conduit was based around Pyromancy, the user's eyes would turn a fiery orange and red, as well as their fur. Magic also seems far more potent when used while carrying one. Only downside is when they're removed the user gets knocked on their ass by a magic migraine.

As the drone from before flew about Drozen, delivering a rather large amount of honey, she gets knocked down by the rather strong gusts of wind. Crashing into a field of Hyper-sheep, she struggles to get up. Her vision is blurred and as she looks up she feels a distinctive bulge against her rear. A dark figure appears before her. From what she can make out it's a Minotaur. She hears him mutter a few words, something about a sheep of some kind. Then her mouth is stuffed with a large and veiny length. She passes out, and wakes up feeling defiled and broken.

While this is going on, some men and women decide to head on up the Crystal Mountains, as they've taken to calling them, to have some "negotiations" with the Crystalids. Many attempts at diplomacy end with a Crystalid doing what you suppose their equivalent of blushing profusely while shoving them away.

One night while standing watch, a young recruit takes a look at his new arm. It's a bit of an odd fit, with the elbow digging in to him a bit too much. Despite this, it's actually quite useful, and maintains much of the previous functionality of his arm. Suddenly he hears a distinct crinkling sound. Drawing his greataxe and lighting a small torch, he sees a...Women of plant? She steps towards him.
>"Do not be afraid. I'm here to help you."
Before he can react, she has his arm in both her hands. She whispers a few words and draws a series of spirals and dashes along the wooden frame. This was the general line of thought your people had upon thinking about the mysterious plant woman. Surely there are more, as she had to have been made somehow. As such, a small envoy is sent out to try and find any Dryads, as they've taken to calling them. Soon enough they happen upon a small clearing where a single Dryad is, lovingly petting a brightly colored bird. The envoy clears his throat, and the bird flutters off. She looks over, a bit annoyed.
>"I was playing with that bird, what do you want?"
Surprised at the change in tone from the supposed Dryad before, the man stutters before replying.
>"As a representative of his highness King Brakla, I formally invite you and your people to join the United Nations. Here you will be given full representation and have a voice,"
She puts her hand to her lively green chin, brow furrowed in concentration. After a few moments she speaks.
>"I cannot speak for my kin, but I will say I am willing to join you."
Before the the envoy can respond, she continues.
>"IF you promise you will help me deal with the infection on this land in the future."
Figuring she already agreed, the envoy nods. The woman gets up, vines and leafs covering her up as her pale green hair bounces about.

Back in Drozen, William comes in from the dark and cold night, he hears a slight wimpering. Following the noise along the walls of the house, he comes across a closed door with a few drops of blood visible from under it.
>” ‘ello? Someone in t’ere?”

A small “EEP” is heard, as well as the clattering of something against the hard stone floor.

>”D-daddy? Don’t come in here! I’m doing…Stuff!”

This little lie isn’t enough to fool William, and he takes a step back, breathes deeply, then slams against the door. It shatters its hinges, flying across the room, leaving a noticeable dent as well as a terrified Elven girl. Her hands are bloodied, with one trying to cover her face and the other clutching her similarly bloody left ear.

>”Oh my...SOPHIE! WHAT HAPPENED!”

The small girl begins to cry, stumbling towards her adoptive father as the man notices a dull red knife lying on the ground in a pool of blood. As William pulls his daughter deep into his arms, he brushes her hair aside with a hand to check the blood flowing from her ear. Instead of the normal fine pointed tip, his finger runs across a pale blue and bloody flat surface.

William is unsure of what to do, and all he does is pull Sophie tighter and tighter. Her head is buried into his shoulder as her tears soak into the fabric. With the strength of a thousand men he picks her up (he's only 1.6 meters tall mind you) and nearly breaks down his door trying to get out into the streets. Without thinking he makes a break for the Mage's Guild, and crashes through the door. His daughter shudders with fear, blood still flowing from her ear and (now that he's had a look) her other ear, with a noticeable cut on it.
>"Sh-sh-shh Sophie, it's okay...GET ME A DAMN HEALER RRIGHT NOW!"
The small (He's roughly 1.6 meters tall) man's voice shakes the building to it's very core, and a Hydromancer soon stumbles out, half asleep.
>"What is it you...Oh my ancestors...Bring her in here!"
William nearly knocks over the man as he barges in, laying the little girl on a table he saw in the middle of the room.
>"FIX MAH LITTLE GIRL RRIGHT FOOKIN' NOW!"
The tauren man stand over her, hands trying to heal up her ear and stop the bleeding.
>"What happened?"
As he says this, Sophie speaks up, sputtering a bit.

The Hydromancer had been standing in the doorway, keeping an eye on you two to make sure Sophie didn't have any other injuries. The Highlander calls him over. He points at her eye and arm, with a sad sigh coming from the tauren. William glares at him, then looks back to Sophie.

>"Alrright honey, lay do'n an' let the Hydrromancer 'ave a look."

She does so, and the tauren steps over. He gives a reassuring smile then runs his hand over her face, the small cut is soon healed, but her right eye has been turned blue. William gives a questioning look, and the Hydromancer points to a conduit in his bandolier. Returning his attention to Sophie, he grabs onto her arm gently and shocks it full of magic. The wound is healed, and now he can discern she was trying to...Cut her own skin off...Jeez. She's stopped crying, and is now just trying to keep calm.

>"She good?"

The tauren nods, and William picks up his little girl. He walks out, holding her tightly to his chest. In the pale light of the streetlights, he notices it has started to snow.

>"Oi, Sophie."

She looks up, mismatched eyes a bit wet. William sticks out his hand and catches a teensy little snowflake, which miraculously doesn't melt instantly. He holds it in front of her.

>"You see t'is? All o' t'ese snowflakes, and each one is unique and beautiful in its o'n way. But out o' all o t'em, none is morre perfect than this. Yah want to know why?"

William receives word of him being needed for diplomacy. After talking with the messenger, he realizes he knows fuck all about actually negotiating. The last time he, well, fucked his way to success. Disregarding this, he's the best shot the tauren have right now. With Sophie by his side, he goes to visit the Armless One. After the usual introductions and small talk, William asks:

>"Would ya mind keepin' watch o' things while I'm gone?"

He nods, then returns to his sheep. William returns home and gathers his supplies. Before he leaves, he decides to bring Sophie along. Packing everything he can into his bag, he and Sophie begin to walk out of Drozen to the Crystal Mountains.

The skies are clear as the two set out. The snow is up to William's knees, so he carries Sophie on his shoulders. Though this tires him quickly, he keeps trudging on. The mountains are visible, and with each passing day grow larger and larger. The trek is relatively uneventful, with the only thing of note being a strange noise as the two passed an ancient monument with warning signs carved into it. Eventually reaching the mountains, William is able to find a fine path up and ends up at the front gate of what he thinks is a Crystalid fortress.
>"OI! ANYONE T'ERE!"
The noise startles nearby birds and causes a minor avalanche, but besides that a solitary green crystal head pokes over the wall.

The Crystalid gives a sigh, palm reaching his face. He mutters something in what you can assume to be his own language, then calls for more guards. They soon report, with weapons at the ready. The guard motions to come inside as the heavy metallic gate opens. William steps through, Sophie following with her hand in his. Inside is a rather finely decorated courtyard with elaborately trimmed trees with pink leaves. Several Crystalids are walking about, some armed, some not. The Green One walks over.

William gets a mix of frustration and confusion on his face. He thinks for a moment, Sophie clutching tightly to his side. He lets a grunt, then responds with arms folded.

>"Why? Why would you deny the Queen of the Snow Elves an audience with your king?"

The Green One is taken aback for a moment, eyes wide with shock. He says something in his own language to a few guards behind you, then bows.

>"I am sorry, your majesty. I just didn't expect the Queen of the Elves to be so...Small. But this means you can discuss matters with Eido even more effectively!"

William looks down to Sophie and winks, which she interprets as "go along with this." The Green One opens the door, leading into an enormous room, lined with jade green pillars. Etchings of strange reptilian beings lie in the walls. Guards with rather pompous sets of armor stand placed a meter apart. Before William can walk in like he was planning to, the Green One stops him. His eyes narrow, staring daggers right at him.

>"If you dare disrespect the Eido, I will execute you myself."

Shrugging this off, William walks on up. Before the guards get a chance to draw their weapons, the Green One signals them to ignore him. William's steps echo throughout the building, with the pitter-patter of Sophie's following. Strangely, the Green One's footsteps, well, they don't happen. He just moves without a sound. As William gets closer to the throne, he sees a furry creature, matted hair and a jutting jaw visible, as well as female figure with dark purple skin and piercing blue eyes to match.

>"Who interrupts me? Guards, why is this man in here?"

The Green One speaks, bowing as he does so.

>"Forgive the intrusion, my Eido. But this man brings himself and the Queen of the Snow Elves with him to negotiate on behalf of the tauren kingdom."

Well, to achieve Renaissance Tech Level, you would need to develop certain lines of thought and technologies that would correlate to that time period. You've some of them (Caravels, gunpowder, colonialism), but others are necessary. If you need further reference, I recommend checking the likes of EUIV or Wikipedia for a general idea.

More or less keep working at it and make economic/cultural/industrial techs instead of military techs.

Before William can give a single peep, she begins walking away, slight sway to her walk. She cranes her head around and says:

William takes a step towards her and hears her mutter:

>"And maybe so do I..."

She takes off, effortlessly crossing the mountainous terrain and abundant snow. Rather than chasing after her, William says "fuck it" and walks back to the fortress. The two approach the gates to Drozen, with a cheer from the watch. People are happy to see that the token human made it out alive after all. They're enthralled by his stories of his fight with the the ferocious ape and the splintered Crystalid clans. They would say more, but they're tired.

Night soon falls, and many retire to their humble homes. William walks down the street with Sophie as they approach home, thinking back on the past few days events. Sophie seems far happier than before, and is even skipping a bit in the snow. As the two arrive home, William leads her to her bedroom. He tucks her in tight, piling the fur and wool in a nice and comfy manner (you people haven't had proper beds EVER). Before he leaves, he gives Sophie a quick kiss on the forehead, and Sophie says:

>"Daddy...Thank you. I love you daddy."

She kisses his nose, then falls asleep, nuzzled against the soft furs. William feels a single tear drip down his cheek, then he heads to his own bedroom. He falls asleep, happy with what he has done.
