In the hour after Goku's fight, things seemed oddly calm. The boy clearly needed a rest after his match against the Turtle Hermit, but still, you didn't quite expect how calm things got. King Chappa and a few other previous combatants arrived to give you both words of encouragement, Goku got to meet with Suno and Eighter one last time before the match began, and of course your friends all came to congratulate you and Goku, but still, the whole place seemed a lot quieter now. When the hour of rest was up, and after Goku got to stuff his face with some more food, you both were called to the arena.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is a first. Two students of the illustrious Master Roshi are about to face off in the final match of the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, and both are some of the youngest fighters in the history of these Tournaments! Young Son Goku, at a mere twelve years old, and his friend Maple Mahogany, at an even younger nine years! Maple has already made the history books as one of the first ladies to ever make it this far, but will she be the one to claim the title of Champion? Or will Goku come out on top in this unprecedented matchup?"

Goku turns to you and smiles a confident, but calm and friendly smile. "This is it, Maple. Let's give it our all!"

You initially block and try to dodge Goku's moves, but it becomes readily apparent that he's got far better speed than your previous opponents when he lands a solid kick to your face. You decide that you'll have to go on the offensive quickly, and land a couple blows to Goku's chest. He backs up, trying to grab your leg with his tail, but you make it clear how bad an idea that is when you step on it, causing him to quickly shout in pain. You then jump up and dive at Goku, striking him in the head with your elbow. He backs up, making sure his tail is OK, and takes a defensive stance.

Among the crowds you can hear people cheering both your and Goku's names. Chi-chi, Acer, and the Ox King are all rooting for you, while Krillin, Bulma's group, and Yamcha are cheering on Goku. The Announcer seems to have made sure he's a safe distance away from you both as he commentates.

"Heh, guess that wasn't very smart, but I know better now!" Goku tells you, then seems to rush at you again, except now... appearing in two places at once?

Goku instinctively tries to block, only for him to realize YOU just made an afterimage. Moving as fast as you can, you appear behind him and punch him in the back, then you let your ki out with a shout of "PHANTOM SHOTGUN!"

Goku goes flying, crashing into the arena wall and turning it into rubble. He picks himself up, but it's clear that trick was a lot more effective than previous ones. Still, Goku is smiling at you. He's smiling wide. He's enjoying the hell out of this. And you have to admit, you kinda do too...

However, he seems prepared for this, and knocks aside your palm strike, countering with his own, striking you in the gut and pushing you backwards. He tries to follow up his attack, landing another couple blows before you finally manage to defend yourself. Goku then tries to dash at you, you leaving an afterimage behind and striking at him, only to realize he's left one behind himself as he kicks you in the back of the head. You land on the ground, trying to pick yourself up.

"You've almost got her, Goku, just a little more!" Yamcha cheers for the monkey boy, waving his fist in the air.

"Come on Maple, don't give up!" Chi-chi shouts at you.

"What happened to being the only number left, sis?!" Acer shouts as well. "You can do this, please!"

Goku cups his hands together as you start to stand, the Announcer reaching a 2-count. "Kaaaaa..."

Just like what brobro tried, ey Goku? Yeah, no. You stand and prepare to dodge with an afterimage. At the moment Goku fires his attack, you move out of the way and appear behind him, thwacking him in the head and quick-firing a Kamehameha of your own as he hits the floor. This launches Goku into the air, where he manages to stop himself, but seems to not have enough ki left to stay up, and falls to the ground on his hands and knees.

"That... that was... ha... ha... a... a great one, Maple." he tells you with a wide grin on his face. He clearly can't keep this up.

"S-still not down, huh? Ha... ha..." you reply. It seems you're about spent as well. Damn, this has been tough... but it's you can't say it hasn't been fun.

"It looks like both fighters are on their last legs, this next attack might be the one that makes or breaks either of them!" the Announcer guy declares. Well, he might not be wrong...

"HAAAAA!" you and Goku shout as you both fire Kamehameha waves at each other. The two beams clash in the middle of the arena, ground beneath them tearing up. You and Goku put every last ounce of energy you have into it. A terrifying explosion knocks both you and Goku down. The announcer starts counting.

"Come on Maple, get up! You can do it!" Chi-chi shouts. You try, but you can't manage it.

"Five..."

"You're so close Goku! You just have to get up before she does!" Krillin yells. Goku isn't getting up any easier.

"Eight..."

"Maple! Maple! Maple! Maple!"

"Nine...!"

"Goku! Goku! Goku! Goku!"

"TEN!"

...neither one of you are up. Neither one of you are up.

"From the former Champion to the current one, congratulations, Maple."

It seems it's already close to sunset, wow, how long were you out? Roshi then looks at you and Goku, a tear rolling down his cheek. "Maple. Goku. You both are now Turtle School Masters."

You like the sound of that. Goku seems to as well. The Announcer guy comes up next, two giant wads of cash in his hands. "Your prize money. One million Zenni for Maple, our new Champ, 500,000 for Goku, the runner-up." Then, he presents you with a black belt, gold on the front of it. "And this is for you, lil' Champion."

Goku takes his winnings, and with a grumble of his stomach almost seems like he's considering eating it. "Ooooh... hungry..."

You take some time looking around, and thankfully find an all-you-can-eat place that, while it costs you every last Zenni you earned during training to pay for the whole group of people, it leaves you with the million in winnings. Everyone is conversing with one another, trying to ignore the unnerving amount of plates that are appearing in front of Goku. And, even to your own surprise, you. That took a lot out of you, after all, and you're damn hungry.

Eventually, you manage to finish after a whole 12 full-course meals, while Goku seems to be up to 30, and counting. Yamcha is conversing with Master Roshi, asking the Turtle Hermit if he's taking on more Students now that two of them have "officially" graduated. Bulma is talking with Eighter, trying to see if he wants some upgrades and offering to keep up maintenance, though he says that one of his creators has moved to Jingle Village after it was apparent the Red Ribbon Army were forcing him to work for them. Acer is conversing with Chi-chi and the Ox King, somehow managing to not attempt to flirt with the girl. Suno seems to just be staring at Goku in amazement, counting the piling dishes. Oolong and Puar are arguing over transformation skills for some reason.

"Since you're nine, you wouldn't be able to manage it, Maple. Though maybe if you find someone young enough, they can learn." Puar adds. Damn. Still, good to know. You then ask for some desert, strawberry ice cream, Bulma adding that she'd like some as well, and turn your attention to Acer and Chi-chi.

"I think I'm really getting the hang of energy attacks." the girl tells your brother. "One day I want to try to make some new ones of my own."

"It takes a lot of work. Our first teacher, Izumi, had us train for a long time before we learned to do so. Maple is kinda' better at them than I am..." brobro admits, hanging his head a little. Suno seems to still be gawking at Goku, who's up to 48 full-course meals.

What seems to be people's handwriting is on it, or at least two similar but distinct styles. One is very light, and has an almost cutesy style to it. Nice Launch's, you assume. The other is much harsher, and filled with several swears you can recognize and some that you can't. The grumpier Launch, obviously. There was an argument all right... and the nice side won.

"Sure, I guess." you state with a shrug, your brother nodding. Launch leads you both outside and looks up at the wide blue skies. You look at the paper again. This is... a bit heavy. It starts with the nice Launch, asking why the angry Launch wants to learn so badly from you. She states that she's surprised that the angry Launch is going along with this. The angry Launch starts asking her calm self if she thinks she's going soft, if she's becoming some weak... well, she's creative in her usage of swears. The nice Launch starts going down several things she can recall about their... antics. Waking up in strange places, sometimes next to strange people. The nice Launch seems to actually enjoy staying at Kame House. Having a place that's... normal. Routine. The two argue for a good while on the paper, but... by the end, you notice some tear marks next to the angry Launch's handwriting.

"I'd considered it." Launch tells you with a sigh. "Just up and leaving once you taught me what I wanted. Going back to the same old... me." She then turns and punches the wall of Kame House, leaving a dent. "But I CAN'T... she's... I'm... she's right. Damn it. You folks have been the first to really try and... help..." she seems to choke up a bit, hiding her face from you.

You fly up and pat her on the shoulder. She doesn't seem to quite expect that, but it calms her a bit. She wipes her face and sighs again. "Fuck, and it was a couple nine year old brats that actually gave a damn. Kids!" she shouts as she throws her arms up in the air. "I guess what I want to say is... I'm... WE'RE different, now. We have to be." She turns to you both. "Fuck... am I making any sense here?"

Everyone seems to give a sigh of relief. Launch then asks you and Acer if you'll be staying for a while.

In the following days, Goku gives a friendly goodbye, stating that you'll probably always know where to find him if you ever want a rematch. Acer keeps up his training with Chi-chi and Krillin, and Launch keeps up with her lesson. Both of her personalities seem more determined than ever, but also more approachable. Her blonde self was certainly making progress quicker than you expected, both in terms of personality and in technique. The genuine look of joy on her face when she finally managed to draw out some of her ki was surprising, but comforting. Her calm self, however, seemed to be a bit less... aloof, than before, managing to avoid some of Master Roshi's antics on her own. Your brother speculated on it being a bit of a defense mechanism, given her... history.

Bulma delivered your Scouter to you by the end of the week, stating that she's got something amazing waiting when you're ready to come see her. You also did a bit more practice on your own, attempting to...

You attempt several things. First, you try out Acer's Will 'O Wisp technique, but quickly learn why he was so surprised that he managed it in the Tournament when you try it yourself. You get the ki and magic combination, and the need for the finger snap, but can't quite seem manage it without the technique literally blowing up in your face. Acer feels a little better about this, even if it's at your expense.

Next, you attempt to do more complicated things with the CLOTHES BEAM. Stylish, fashionable outfits in a flash, it would be awesome! ...if you could manage it. Attempting the quick outfit change into something complex simply does not work all that well. Three times you try it. Two times you end up butt naked, with the clothes several feet away, to your friends mixed amusement and embarrassment. The third time, your clothes end up on backwards, and far more difficult to remove than you thought they'd be when you ended up with the technique.

Finally, you ask Roshi about the Lightning Flash Surprise. He isn't hesitant against teaching you. He's adamant about you NOT learning it, stating how dangerous and desperate it is and how dangerous it is for even the user. He seems ashamed that he ever used it against Goku. You still beg and plead for him to at least show you how it works and how to counter, and he does so only once, attacking a boulder and breaking it to pieces. When you immediately attempt the technique on a boulder as well, you're surprised to learn that you can indeed to it... then realize that he was right, and get a significant shock yourself. Not... gonna be trying that again any time soon.

By the time your brother finally catches up to you, Launch has learned all she needs to know about the basics of ki, and has even managed to fly on her own. The blonde Launch nearly jumps for joy when she finally manages the Geist Magnum. Sadly, like you've said, you won't be staying, and finally give your goodbyes. You promise to visit them all, and head off with Acer.

Jaco, for all his bluster, is not a clever man. His manga makes this point abundantly clear. Not that he's got Goku-tier smarts or anything, he's actually extremely intelligent, but, he is very easily distracted and takes time to make certain... connections. He focused on your posing more than the content of your introduction.

He also has near-Vegeta levels of pride, but is far more... constructive, about it? He casually reminds those who will listen that he'd wipe out the entire human race at the press of a button to spare them from the Saiyan, if he couldn't defeat it. Or for getting his face wrong in a police sketch. Yet he'll go to great lengths to see that justice is served and save people from danger, especially those who themselves show a lot of determination and worth.

Among them are a Namek and a member of the race that Vegeta's sister-in-law belongs to. They report directly to the Galactic King, who opposes the PTO and other villainous races like the Nikos and the growing threat of the Machine Mutants. Note that Jaco thought Bulma would be an excellent candidate for the Galactic Patrol.

Tien and the Crane School will probably show up during the 22nd, since it's now in all the papers that a nine year old girl trained by Master Roshi became the Champ. You might also meet some of them in the time between now and the 22nd Tournament.

If you get TOO powerful, or if a certain someone reaches Vegeta's Power Level or more, there's a very good chance Raditz will start crying and leave. Then come back in full force with the other Saiyans, with only a vague warning about a threat the year prior.

Watch as you break Dragon Ball even harder and somehow get Goku to become a Super Saiyan way, WAY early...
