Elizabeth sits in her lab, dissecting a small chunk of flesh under a microscope. She seems engrossed in the contents of the small blob of cloned cells as she slices it into neat little layers, studying each one closely. She arranges each one on a number of glass slides taken from the crates found in the Raligha camp, and pinches the bridge of her nose. The psionic quills along her head ripple in frustration. She doesn’t notice the worker as it places a tray of assorted packaged MREs beside her, each taken from the Clarke’s storage, but she quickly turns when the speaker walks in with Lee in tow. She quickly places the slides into a small storage case and shuts the lid.

>Ralighan biology study
The have had utilized the panic of the invasion to procure a sample of the local life for study. The biology of the natives of Raligha seems to be rooted in a predatory role, likely adapting as pack hunters before growing in intelligence. Interestingly enough, you find signs of the Gardener’s own genetic data within the native, indicating some level of alterations or experimentation, possibly even leftovers from past research in psionic implantation, although no native seems naturally psionic.

>Spiral Warrior (Ralighan only)
The ancient and honored martial art, known as the Way of the Tempest, or the Bladed Spiral, depending on your translation and tribe in question, utilizes the circular nature of the Ralighan body to create a fluid spinning motion that allows the warrior to quickly move in any direction, change direction in an instant, and attack from nearly any angle along the ralighan’s spinning axis using a traditional multi-bladed throwing weapon, leather or rope lings, or specialized atlatls, as well as thin, lightweight wicker or bark shields used to deflect rocks, spears, or other small projectiles. The origin of the art form has been lost to myth, and is credited to the system’s gas giant, which is visible in the sky on clear nights, and is believed to be a great warrior from the Ralighan’s past and the first tribal leader to speak with the Mother of Builders. Judging from your understanding, the myth possibly pre-dates the hive’s arrival, but has been altered to fit the new worldview of the locals, or potentially speaks of the first native the hive used for research before establishing proper contact with the locals. Regardless, the gas giant’s apparently erratic swirling orbit as seen from the surface of Raligha is hailed as evidence that the hero figure continues to dance around the planet using this martial art in an effort to protect it from attack from the heavens.

>Predictive combat algorithms
By using the vast network of the hive to analyze the fine movements and instinctive quirks of your enemies, your drones and clones can anticipate the movements and actions of well-known opponents, allowing them to position themselves in such a way as to be the least likely to be hit with incoming fire while gaining an advantageous position from which to return fire. There are limitations, however you only gain an advantage against enemies with training and biology that is familiar to you and you must be aware of the enemy to predict its actions. Replicants or non-drone agents must be connected to the hive network via parasite or psionic implant to receive any benefits.

>Mantle excavation

By studying and testing the data granted by your predictive algorithms and your knowledge of alien biology, your thinkers believe that they can create a number of potent combat maneuvers to bolster the combat potential of your clones and non-drone agents, allowing them to fight with similar instinctive aggression as your warriors, but adapted to the limitations and abilities of the individual’s biology.

>Deep Core Mining
Slow
Taking planetary mining to the logical extreme, your thinkers believe that your hive infrastructure, if spread across the surface of a world and given enough time, would be able to consume the ferrous metal core of a planet itself.

Current Research

>Boarding pods
Fast
While strikingly similar in nature to the drop pods, a number of critical alterations are made to the design to allow this pod to be fired from a specialized tube like a missile and penetrate the hull of a target vessel. It then opens to allow the deadly contents to enter the ship and engage the crew without needing to dock with the target, allowing boarding attempts without disabling a ship’s drive, although the shields still need to be deactivated.

>Ship grapple
Medium
A simple idea at heart; throw a hook at the target and reel it in. When you take into account the relative speeds and raw kinetic forces involved in such an action, however, it quickly stops being so simple. Complex and highly durable cables and pulleys must be developed, as well as specialized bulkheads to prevent ripping the ship in two. The result, however, should be interesting, if a bit insane.

>Ram
Medium
The concept of ramming in ship to ship combat is simple and straight forward. Doing so without obliterating your own ship, however, is a far more complex skill to master that requires numerous alterations to ship design philosophy and a willful lack of common sense. The Scavengers appear to be insane enough to have thought such a strategy useful in space combat, and are stubborn enough to perfect it. The study and extensive testing of the design of the ram should allow you to develop something similar for your own ships.

>Suncaster
Fast
This large and powerful weapon seems to use a mixture of plasma and solid slug projectiles to gain both damage and range. Disassembling it should allow you to build similar weapon systems yourself.

>Variable strike weapon
Fast
A patented weapon technology in the Union, this device is capable of switching between a large number of ammunition types in the middle of combat.

>Magnetized slugs
Fast
This technology appears to use a powerful magnetic charge to alter the trajectory of a fired projectile after leaving the weapon, improving accuracy.

>Privy coat
Fast
This article of clothing utilizes some manner of micro-fiber to block, or at least interfere with the signals of modern weapon scanners in an attempt to prevent weapons from tripping customs alarms or security checkpoints. The device is not fool proof, and typically is only considered reliable on older, less well maintained checkpoints.

>Gravity foils
Fast
The most obvious and direct application of gravity deflection technology utilizes the surrounding ambient gravitational forces to allow a drone to create thrust using a complex arrangement of thin metallic sheets, allowing the drone to hover or fly in any direction. While it can technically function in a vacuum, most such situations would be in space, where the foils would be far less effective due to a lack of strong gravity fields to manipulate.

>Artificial gravity plating
Medium
By utilizing insignificant amounts of antimatter to create unfocused gravitational fields, and then directing them through the gravity plating into a single direction, the internal structure of a ship can be granted a small amount of artificial gravity. White the direction of the gravity can be changed at will, or turned off, it lacks the resources and energy to project a field capable of directly causing injury

>Gravity thrusters
Slow
Similar in function to your Skid drive, the Gravity thrusters essentially surf along pre-existing gravity fields, increasing their performance when in close proximity to major sources of gravitational pull, be it a large celestial body, a star, a planet, an exceptionally large structure or group of structures, or the core of a gravity drive. While in deep space it becomes less effective, the law of universal gravitation means it never becomes totally useless, and when in close proximity to a powerful gravity source it should outperform most other thruster designs with ease.

>Shield miniaturization
Medium
With your new understanding, previously unknown aspects of standard shield technology can be seen in a new light, indicating a small overlap between it and gravitational manipulation technology. By using newly developed technology, your thinkers suspect that they may be able to create a more compact, but less powerful shield system.

>Psionic reading
Medium
You are already aware of this growing ability in Elizabeth, and with her help, and more research into the remains of the dead relay, you should be able to continue to fine tune your new, more powerful psionic senses to be able to not only detect the presence of sapient thought, but to read it in more detail.

>Photonic microstructures
Slow
The useful applications of manipulating massive photonic molecules are many, and your preliminary studies indicate that you may be able to develop more practical uses beyond the blaster, especially in the field of energy shielding.

>Nausea field
Slow
A rather interesting side effect first noticed with your Blink drive, but now weaponized to great effect as a defensive measure. You should be able to enhance your medium and advanced relays to emit a wave of sickening nausea in a radius around it, causing effected subjects to feel increasing levels of both physical and mental uneasiness, causing feelings of dread and queasiness.

>Solid State Teleportation
Slow
While standard quantum systems allow for instantaneous transportation of data, this technology would allow for essentially the instantaneous transport of matter. The matter in question would be disassembled into individual particles and transported in much the same way as bits of data through a quantum relay, and then assembled on the other side. Due to the nature of the process, only simple objects such as raw resources could survive teleportation. This should allow for the transportation of resources across hive space without the need to delegate ships to serve as trade vessels.

>Ground-orbital mega-construction
Slow
By using new construction systems to improve efficiency, the hive can build new projects capable of reaching orbit, using the rotation of the planet to remove the requirements of a free standing structure and instead essentially hang a station in orbit from the surface of the planet. Such a construction project would double as a docking pylon capable of constructing capital ships at a much faster rate, and replace the need for shuttles to ferry goods to and from orbit. [Unlocks the Capillary Tower construction option]

I agree the Hive has ridiculous production and a sizable fleet, going public in a position of power which i think were in will gain us additional facets of research, and allies against the rival queen, which we also need to take care of soon before here research catches up to us. she will not stay complacent any longer.
>>
>>40608333
>Quantum Tuning
Medium
While current quantum computing technology requires the relays be built to accommodate one another, this technology should allow you to quickly attune pre-existing devices for one another when in proximity. Your thinkers suspect more opportunities to open up after further research is done. You suspect Theseus would greatly appreciate such a technology, if he does not already poses it.

Available research options

>Psionic Cannon prototype
Very slow/Very dangerous
Detailed accounts of several experiments show the slow progress of Project Godsplitter. The cannon itself is highly volatile, and even the smallest miscalculation often results in the destruction of the ship, as well as any nearby craft. It can only be equipped to a Hive ship's spinal mount, and requires a functional Void Shard as ammunition. At least a dozen testing sizes were atomized in testing the weapon, and in the end it appears The Gardener never quite perfected it.

So I was reading through our cybernetics and I think with the addition of the Kata research we can have out human clone drones become Guyvers

We have the technology.
>>
>>40608365
That is good enough for now. leave that Psionic cannon alone!
>>
>>40608404
>Guyvers
Yes!
>>
>>40608387
I agree but if we give her time she'll close the tech gap.
>>
>>40608400
Either way is fine with me.
>>
>>40608387
>letting a queen build up pwhen we built up power so fast.
>she also has crystal gods backing her up and with their help she was able to almost make our species instinct.
You are under estimating her hugley anon.
>>
Have any of you seen the movie oblivion? Because we can totally do that with an army of Lyle clones. Just send swarms and swarms of identical humans against planets. (Or we can do that to the scavengers with there own scavengers).
>>
>>40608404
Dunno what Guyvers are, but I think that maxed out hybrids are basically low-tier Warframes/Tenno.
>>
>>40608387
>Anon we could annhilate her overnight.
>actually believing this
>when she slapped around all our predecessors like they were her bitches
>>
>>40608450
I agree shes the real threat all others are distractions at best. we need to make sure to take care of her before she can bring all those resources to bear. she just learned we are alive but she doesn't know our capabilities but eventually she will find out. with both of us having incredible production (her more) we need to blitzkrieg her production.
>>
>>40608492
She caught them in an ambush using a weapon that had any of them known existed would have caused her immediate demise at the hand of everyone ever. Our mother was winning that fight against her until the entity that the black queen obeys came to aid her.
>>
>>40608487
Just think Iron Man suits, but instead of robotic, think Bio-tech.
>>
>>40608420
>>40608450
She can't. She doesn't have quantum thinkers to quickly develop new tech. Not to mention the fact the Void Crystal are keeping her from advancing her tech.
>>40608492
>when she slapped around all our predecessors like they were her bitches
>Actually thinking this
The only reason she stood a chance is because she was working with the Void Crystals.
>>
>>40608580
>The only reason she stood a chance is because she was working with the Void Crystals.
And likely still is, for what reason would you think she would have stopped?
>>
>>40608588
I think you miss understand. She's a complete scrub in combat.
>>
>>40608574
So the Bleeding Edge suit?

“Lee, how is your condition?” She says. Lee awkwardly shimmies past the speaker, which had been leading him by the hand through the dim and labyrinthine halls.

“It’s like I hear whispering, all over, all the time.” He says, “my head is a little sore, but I think I’m okay for now.” Elizabeth nods.

“That is to be expected here. It’s how the hive communicates, and how the Queen controls everything. You should have heard it when I first got here, it was much louder.”

“Mother say to think quietly!” Your speaker shouts, clicking its claws with glee. Lee looks confused.

“I thought they were all part of the Queen. Do they have individuals, or uh...” He trails off, not knowing how to phrase the question.

“Both, in a way. The drones are almost like animals. They know enough to do what they were designed to do, but require commands from the Queen to know what to do.” Elizabeth points to the speaker and it chirps softly. “This little guy can talk, but unless the Queen actually wants to say something, he usually just rambles.” The speaker twitches its antennae, attempting to figure out if rambling is good or not. You reassure it with the thought as your mind fills it with purpose.

"So, how can I tell who I'm talking to? Do they switch around or what?" He looks to the speaker. "Are you the Queen, or just a drone right now?"

"Yes!" It chirps. Elizabeth lets out a stifled laugh.

"Both at once. In a way, it's similar to how a Ceph controls its arms. Each one has a brain, but it requires the head to organize them and give them direction." She says. Lee nods slowly.

"Okay, that makes sense." He says, then looks over the table of the lab. "So, have you figured anything new out? You know, with the ring wraith voices in my brain and what-not?"

So how about colonizing the rest of the planets in our home system?

We've been sitting on Electroponic stations for ages, even though we already have at least one gas giant readily available. Its time to do this.

Better than that. You should check out that anime and manga.

>>

makes sense anon but still want the bitch to die. just imagine if she talks to the humans before us and gives them void crystals. probably not going to happen but could.
>>
>>40608851
Worse, she knows we exist and is now ramping up her own fleet production to insane levels to Zerg rush us when she finds the Red Queen..
>>
>>40608851
Anon you're starting to make up ridiculous situations to justify your paranioa. A little paranioa is good but this is stupid.
>>
>>40608934
what do you propose we do about the rival queen then?
>>
Why can't we just keep plotting to kill/capture the bitch
I really want to put her into a tank and cut out of her hivemind, just so I can hear her screams
>>
>>40608987
what has our plotting been .we have made leaps and bounds with our human front. All we are doing is building up the fleet and she can and is doing so probably at a higher quantity, but tech wise she is pretty behind?
>>
>>40608961
We can take a note from the last federation and launch a moon at her.

Elizabeth glances to the box on the desk. "Well, I had a small cell culture quickly whipped up using your DNA, and have been bombarding it with mental transmissions. So far, it seems that my initial hypothesis is correct. The human brain is capable of sensing psionic signals, but it does not lack the needed organs to properly translate and understand the data." She says as she looks over her breakfast. A small cube of pressed meat that somehow has a chalky texture, and several packs of vegetable paste. "I'm still not sure, but I think it's related to our sense of intuition, judging by the reactions I'm getting from different cells. I suspect psionic sensitivity is slightly more common than I had anticipated, although still nothing anywhere close to the complexity of the hive's network." She investigates the chalky meat block with distrust, and offers it to Lee. He takes it with a similar looking level of suspicion.

"So, what, like, that tingly 'you're being watched' feeling is actually telepathy?" He asks, then bites the block with a loud clack, as if biting a brick.

"No. If my theory is correct, that would be what used to be the limit of human telepathy. It's more like a phantom limb, just a leftover from when we lost it during evolution." She shrugs. "But that's just my preliminary theory." She taps her finger on her chin as she briefly looses herself in thought. "There are the humans found on Earth... Perhaps the proximity to the White Queen's beacon caused some changes in their brain structure."

"Wait, you've been to Earth?" Lee says abruptly. Elizabeth almost ignores him, but looks up after a moment.

"Oh, yes, the drones found some things there. It's not important at the moment." She says dismissively.

Time for those Guyvers

WHile I know our warriors would always fill a better role in combat I can't help but think of the psychological impact of a boarding party made out of human-shaped bugs that when damaged and killed are revealed to be human hybrids
>>
>>40609275
It's been 5 days they should be done.

so we have the two human empires who seem to be gearing up for war against each other, could we talk to Theseus about ways to direct their aggression against the black queen, basically use her as a scape goat for any issues that have arisen between the two empires.

I was thinking something more like "she commited the great taboo of our people many times. Queen-killing is the vilest of crimes."

agreed, we already have an alliance against her, an alliance of individuals that are nations unto themselves just as we are. as things stand we don't need to worry about public opinion, forgetful voter-bases or greed or any of that shit, why change that? let the humans occupy eachother for now, when the commonwealth plays their psy-cannon we'll be ready.
>>
>>40609624
by the time the commonwealth has a psy-cannon the top officials will hopefully be ours already
>>
fuck yeah!
>>
>>40609687
they already have one, we just don't know where it is. it'll be very difficult to infiltrate the commonwealth without overplaying our hand, we'll either need to wait for an opportunity or work closely with theseus in order to do so.

union is the faction that is currently trying to figure out how to build it, though we've set back their psy-research by quite a lot.

A speaker skitters into the room where Lyle and the others sit around Lyle's holo screen, watching the Pathian action show on Lee's data disk out of boredom as they eat from several bowls of nutrient paste.

"You know, that kid was right. This version's got a lot more action then the Saturday morning shit." Jackob says. Dillon looks over briefly.

"Why do you watch Saturday morning kid shows in the first place?"

"Because it's one of, like, three channels you get for free in a shitty motel, and goddamn it sometimes after I need to kill some people when a job goes south some candy and a cartoon goes a long way." He takes a bite of the nutrient paste. "This stuff is good, actually. Like sweet grits or something. I'll need to get a can for the road."

Your speaker chirps. "The hive can offer improvements to the humans if any are of interest." It says. Jackob leans over to see your speaker through the hologram of what appears to be a vibrantly colored giant rubber crab being scissor kicked by the bug-eyed armor-clad protagonist as he screams something in Pathian. The crab explodes violently as Dillon turns off the projector.

"They're free, right?" Jackob asks.

"Yes!" Your speaker chirps cheerfully, "Free for friends of the hive!"

Jackob jabs his elbow at Dillon, who seems much less impressed at the deal.

"No offense to the hosts, but I like my human parts, thanks. Dillon says. Jackob slaps his arm as he gets up.

"Come on, don't you want to kick giant alien crabs to death?" He says, pointing to the dormant projector.

"Personally, I've always had luck with shooting things." Dillon says from his seat. Jackob just shrugs.

"Suit yourself. I've done weirder shit in my life." Jackob says as he looks over the various augmentation designs your thinkers have created, all listed on a patch of chromatophore skin along the wall.

because, we have our own problems to deal with before we can climb into the shit pit with the humans and start picking sides, our priorities are the obsidian queen and stopping the humans from attracting the attention of the crystal gods. all other things are secondary.

any alliance we make will be complicated once we start telling them

>>
>>40610032
I personally feel that getting into an alliance with them will just get us into a pointless war with the union and they will still use the psy-cannon pointlessly causing void gods to smite our asses. maybe we could convince them to not use the cannon pointlessly but idk. i just feel a deal with common wealth will be to much uncertainties.
>>
>>40610178
Pretty sure we have at least at one point, but folks don't care.

The commonwealth isn't trying to unlock the secrets of psionics and running an active conspiracy against people we value.
>>
>>40610178

>>
>>40610266
Actually they should be, the only difference is that they are farther ahead of the union.
>>

they already have unlocked the secrets of psionics, keep up.

There are so many ways for that to massively blow up in their face.

Psionics aren't a threat to us, we're effectively the second strongest psionic force in the universe (strongest being the crystalline entity)
>>

But wont the common wealth want planets and treaties if they have overwhelming forces with our help. i just dont think the Union will give up especially if they have the propaganda tool of being attacked by bugs. oh shit star ship troopers
>>

>isn't trying to unlock the secrets of psionics
That's how I know you're a retard.
>>
>>40610201
It's kind of a leap to think the commonwealth actually have a functioning psionic cannon. The only reason they got it to work the first time was because the WQ was feeding them the relevant information, and everyone and everything pertaining to that project was apparently atomized.

Even if they did copy all of Seiner's notes, they would lack the scientific expertise to actually replicate the weapon itself.

It is pretty much the ideal weapon for attacking ground targets, and can even hit ships through their shields if need be.

There is no way that Jackob will be capable of behaving the same while hes actively resisting us mind fucking him, and he WILL actively resist us mind fucking him. Hell, there is a good chance he will self terminate if possible in order to resist it.

Logic I have explained in the post at >>40611029, we wont be able to conceal it at first, as hes a relatively strong minded individual who is trained already to actively resist psychological warfare and will likely be able to fight us long enough to at a minimum allow dillon to realize something is wrong and at a maximum self terminate and/or damage the parasite.

"Hey check it out, it's like a pistol shrimp." Jackob says as he hands the flesh tablet to Lyle. He looks it over, intrigued.

"That looks new." Lyle says. Your speaker chirps up.

"Arms already improved! Adding to them faster than normal." Lyle thinks for a moment.

"Yea, what the hell." He says. He looks over to Dillon. "Sure you don't want something? You'll be all alone in the kidney motel with nothing but that dubbed action show." He flexes his arm, and the skin ripples and tears in several places from the unnecessary force. "I've had augs for a long time, and I gotta say, they make 'em quality."

"Quality!" Your speaker chirps as it bobs its head rapidly. "This way to the pods. Follow! Another speaker can keep the Dillon company if it wishes."

The Symbiote has an oxygen recycler and a bio-electrical component/carapace, can act as both a defibrillator and pacemaker (though that's probably unnecessary with Lyle's constitution).

I would also suggest advanced components that allow Lyle to detect and deseminate himself radio traffic, sort of acting on instinct and directing the drone to replicate his voice so that he can talk on the channel without actually making any noise himself.
>>

Lyle looks over the details of the Pistol Sledge and nods. "Looks damn useful. Typically you'd need a drop suit or a two man team to hold one of those things." He looks up to your drone. "And thermal's always good, but my visor's too conspicuous to walk around with. Shoving it in my skull would make it a hell of a lot simpler."

"Are you listening to yourself?" Dillon asks.

"Oh, and you may want to get that second heart. It pays for itself right quick. You can take a sniper's round to the chest and keep on going." Lyle says to Jackob as he follows him and your speaker down the hall.

"Good idea. It's an up-sell, but I feel like I deserve it." Jackob says as the doors flex shut, leaving Dillon alone. After a few minuets he grabs the small tablet himself with a skeptical gaze.

Several corvettes blink into view of the Skyl and Unity docks. The general shape of a tremendous capital ship is nearly complete, and construction drones bring various equipment and internal structure into several large gaps in the hull, where you can see rows upon rows of small shuttle and drone docks under construction. One of the docks lights up, and you detect a quick radio signal from its location granting permission to dock.

As the clones are unloaded into the waiting hands of various mechanical Unity drones, a small robotic arm attached to the wall of the internal docks swings up to the airlock of your ship and holds out a small data cube.

"Mechanical specifications for construction of relic based drive technology." The arm releases the cube into the null gravity, and it floats smoothly into the claws of a drone.

>>40612021
They have ten limbs in total, the front two are clawed, talon-like graspers, the second pair of limbs are semi-prehensile wings, like that of a bat, the third and center pair of arms are legs, with geko-like feet capable of sticking to and climbing most surfaces with ease, the next pair is another set of leathery wings, and the last pair of limbs are two more legs with geko-like feet. Their head is composed of a large, skinless armored skull that includes a large, sharp beak shaped like an ice cream cone, or the beak of a crow. On the top, angled forward, are five eyes arranged like the 5 face of a d6. Their body is serpent-like, but the rib cage is hinged so that it can flatten itself out to catch more air in flight, and they have a long tail that quickly flattens and is used to steer in flight and maintain balance. Their beak is razor sharp, and just inside the beak itself there is a row of teeth, like that of a shark, which are set on a jaw that moves independently of the beak, allowing it to retract the teeth, or move them in a sawing motion while holding food with the beak itself.

"The Skyl live once more." Heretic says calmly. "You give hope for the future."

You look around the interior of the ship with the sensors of your corvette. The ship seems to have two hulls, the outer armored shell, and an interior hull holding the various ship systems. Between them is an expansive dock yard that seems to include construction yards and resource refineries. In several gaps in the inner hull you can see illuminated aviaries holding small villages and towns filled with buildings of Skyl architecture, including several the spin within the hull of the ship, just enough to offer some small gravity within.

You quickly transmit details of the latest engagement between your forces and the Scavengers. Theseus seems to find something about it highly amusing.

"Some think a simple greeting is sufficient." He says. He sends you updates on his own recent efforts. Dozens of forums across the Union network, filled with images and edited news reports. You see one image of Via Maris Station disintegrating in a ball of fire with Killinger's face super imposed over the scene. The entire image is tinted red. Another includes a play-by-play of the events, including a detailed explanation of the Commonwealth admiral's declared and perceived motivations arguing that the explosion was clearly not a result of Commonwealth events. It includes a wide range of images plastered over each other in a mosaic. Yet another image is a poorly drawn depiction of Killinger with a large, wide rimmed hat and brown leather boots, riding on the shell of a Valen with highly exaggerated features and a large, human-like nose pasted above the mouth. Both are careening through space in a short animated image, edited over the debris as it crashes into the station.

"Public opinion of recent events are mixed, but is swaying in favor of escalating the conflict under the belief that the Commonwealth are preparing their own attack, using the recent events as a cover to send an armed fleet into neutral space." Theseus explains. "Their decision to bring a capital ship as their diplomatic vessel did not offer a good image to the public, and I have had little luck even with the fringe pro-technology dissidents with which I typically hold the most influence over. After recent events have pushed them further back from the Expanse, the public opinion seems to be a feeling of being backed into a corner with no major new locations to settle. It is unfortunate."

Explore Wonder dockyard.

Or start producing new clones on Gemini finally.

We need to

- make a gang of disposable flash clones
- steal enough credits and equipment to make fake IDs
- produce non disposable normal clones
- give them fake IDs and send them to other planets

Planets like Mentan, where the science dwells. Without the risk of landing a pod and probably lighting up like a falling star and being weird homeless guys.

I'm struggling to find a good diagram that shows what I'm trying to say. But normally, with a hormone, there will be an active receptor on cells that allows that specific protein to enter the cell as proteins are too big to be passively absorbed. A similar system is almost certainly used by the scavengers. Where pheromones are picked up at one of several specific receptor areas and transmitted as a signal to the nervous system in whatever it actually means. Naturally, viruses function by hijacking these protein receptors, being mistakenly identified as the protein and allowed to be entered into a cell, where they proceed to inject DNA and hijack functions to produce more viruses.

We can dot he same with relative ease. This would mean we can either hijack there nervous system/pheromone cells to do a limited amount of things (limited based on Questdrones ideas on sane DNA encoding), or flat out disrupt them entirely. In theory we can have them get ""stuck"" on one repetitive signal, hijack those pheromone producers to produce something incredibly toxic or another directly into the scavenger body, or flat out destroy them and anything they came in contact with.

We might also be able to literally give them autism as well.

We should come out public, not to declare war on anyone or do anything militarily, but to open economic negotiations, we should in fact allow ourselves to be ""exploited"" here. However we do it cleverly, we let ourselves be ""exploited"" by companies that are directly supporting the green party, and intentionally provide cheap materials to directly fuck over whatever corporations are supporting killinger and his party. We can trigger a peaceful regime change simply by starving the political war machine.

Why use proxies when we have everything in place already, besides, this is the ultimate form of warfare, it is the one great way we can both force them to rely on us, and totally wreck them in the process. It'll be like the chinese opium wars, where England got millions of people hooked on a product only they could provide, and forced the chinese economy to become dependent on them while degrading chinese culture from the inside out.

The rebellions that followed killed millions of chinese and only further cemented European rule over china.

As Theseus explains the details of human colonization patterns and how it factors into modern cultural trends and is in turn represented in the image of a Valeen filling a public pool single handedly while surrounded by text describing something about a kind of spice, you send details regarding your terraforming technology to Heretic. He reviews the possibilities of settling a new world.

"No." He finally says. You are somewhat confused.

"A new home, for the new Skyl." You explain. He responds calmly again in his monotone.

"Homeworld settlement: vulnerability. Free born skyl population is not sufficient to allow for mass colonization." He pauses for a moment, and you sense a quick pulse of communication between him and Theseus. "All eggs: one basket. Stationary basket is inferior to mobile basket."

Your ships return to your hive, and as it slowly drifts back towards Leeland your drone examines the data cube, allowing your thinkers to begin piecing together the available research data. Despite the exacting detail of the data, the sheer complexity of a superluminal drive will require some time to review in full.

A powerful, and accurate drive system, it does not move the equipped ship, but allows the ship to rip open a hole in spacetime, creating something akin to an artificial wormhole that bridges the ship's current location with a location of its choosing within its range. This allows not only the ship to move through the rupture, but also allows it to open ruptures for other craft, allowing for the deployment of sub-light craft over vast interstellar distances.

Taidaren have a circular, tube-like body structure that ends in a long, thin tail, which can and often does get ripped off quite easily, only to regrow quickly. They have six limbs, and each of them ends in an identical grasper that is equal parts foot and hand, and can be used for mobility or manipulation, the digits of which are arranged zygodactyly, with two pointing forward and two pointing backward. Their head holds a single, small eye in the center, surrounded by large armored bone scales, which covers the head like a helmet. Beneath the eye is a short, but sharp proboscis made of bone. They have no mouth, and cannot chew, or open the beak-like proboscis. The eat, they stab food with the proboscis and pump stomach acid into it to predigest it into a soup, which they then slurp back up. Because of this, they prefer decaying food which has already softened and partially putrefied, and have evolved from scavenger animals. Their eyesight is poor, and can only see light, color, and movement. To see properly, they whistle and chirp, using echolocation to determine distance and shape. Their spine is in the center of their bodies, and instead of ribs, their bodies are segmented by layers of cartilage. If you were to cut on in half, the inside would be arranged similar to an orange. Males are always born in triplets from a single egg, and are much smaller than females, resulting in a natural matriarchal government run by the mother figure of families that can hold dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of extended relatives. They enjoy filth, and their immune system functions by incorporating disease in a symbiotic way, utilizing old infections to fight off new ones. Their radically different standards means that while they live in shanties and sewers on human worlds, they are perfectly happy with the arrangement. The bone plates on their heads are often colored to determine family or tribal lineage.

Could rip drive portals be opened in positions over a planet to allow planetary defenses to provide coverage to areas of a battle? Or just to pour missiles through with no indication where they originated?
>>
>>40614048
Sensors cannot penetrate the event horizon. On either side, the rupture appears as a torrent of chaotic energy. Your missiles utilize the sensors of the launching ship or planet to help defeat any ECM systems or attempts to evade the warhead, so the source of the missile needs to be on the same side of the rupture.

You could, however, send fighters through, so long as the fighters are either equipped with thinker brains, or are within the range of your network.
>>
>>40614046
Are those male triplets genetically identical to each other? If so, could we create a new brother for Huey and Dewy by just cloning either of them?
>>
>>40614114
So, say we have a pod on station on the other side, we could theoretically send in swarmers or fighters through to conduct raids.
Can ships enter from the other side of the rupture?
>>
>>40614137
That's what triplets are, so duh.

But giving them Phooey would obviously disrespect Louie's death.
>>
>>40614176
There are such a thing as non identical triplets anon. But either way we would definitely ask them before we did it. "Christ almighty!"
Jackob is looking into the gaping maw of one of your medical pods. Lyle can't help but to laugh.

"Well? Go on, hop in. Free augs and all that." Lyle says. Jackob scrunches his nose as he leans in to examine the interior.

"This looks worse then the maw of a Valen. What, I just jump on in?" He says.

"Hive can sedate before entering. Easy!" Your speaker says.

"Uh, well I guess I gotta go under one way or another." He says. The pod's arm whips out and jabs his arm before he can react. He jerks back quickly as the needle recedes.

"God damn, it's my first doctor visit all over again." He says as he starts to wobble on his feet. He looks to your speaker, and falls over. Your drones catch him and quickly haul him into the pod. Lyle moves to an empty one and simply leans back into it, falling into the open maw and into the medical fluid with a splash.

>>40614137
Yes, and technically yes, but it would be considered weird for everyone involved. While lacking a brother does result in some amount of ostracization in Taidaren culture, they are still common enough for one reason or another. In their culture, it is common for Taidaren laws to punish or reward brothers together as if they were a single person, and they often even share a single name. Loosing a brother in their culture is in a way considered loosing a part of yourself, and often reflects poorly on the surviving two as some may assume they failed to protect their brother, or should have died with him, with the reasoning being that if they are still alive, then they didn't do 'everything' they could have done. This is in a way a rather traditionalist view, and is not often said or mentioned publicly, but simply understood.

Still, society is understanding enough that this reaction is typically purely emotional, and is not an overt or aggressive discrimination.

You stifle your small hive and keep it buried for now. The sleek surface of the walls around the tank is coated in a thin layer of mucus, and several fleshy growths have appeared over the pipes near the ceiling, draping slender tendrils in the air that sparkle with droplets. Just beneath the water, the spines of razor mines just reach through the surface like over sized sea urchins.

You examine the tank in detail as the tendrils of your hive search every nook and cranny. The tank extends downward nearly fifteen meters, and ends in an emergency drain that you suspect leads directly to the runoff canals spread through the sewers. The water it is filled with has become murky with your hive's activities, and a thin film of mucus has covered the still water, giving it the appearance of a swamp as opposed to a filtration center. Beneath it all is yet more canals and service tunnels, which expand downwards and outwards in all directions. The tunnels are patrolled by your flies, and are inhabited by a mixture of vagabonds of many races, but are overwhelmingly Taidaren.

We don't want to make the hosts any hungrier or malnourished than necessary.

Dude, in a small drone advanced wings only cost a single extra nutrient, and upkeep is half of that. A human body requires the equivalent of, what, 47N a day? It wouldn't make the slightest difference.
>>
>>40615339
>absolutely no reason
Okay no Siren, but a relay is the only way you get the ability to detect everything in a quarter of a kilometer around. One per hive is fine. It's barely more than the cost of four Flies, and we have 50 of those.

Second, upkeep is basically paid for by the Union's sewage.

The head looks good, but the body is longer and more tube-like, like a gecko or a snake, which tapers off to the tail. They are able to twist and contort their bodies quite quickly, and are swift runners and climbers that move ins squirrely, rapid movements. Think Randall from Monsters Inc, actually, similar body length and movement, but with a more rounded body and only six legs.

They often stand on their hind four limbs, and can walk at a leisurely pace in that manner, but will drop to all six to sprint, or can run moderately fast while holding something by carrying it with their mid arms as you have drawn, which is their most common posture.

First of all, it doesn't do anything like that, you basing that entirely of hypothetical research we haven't finished and have little idea how it would function.

Secondly, you're forgetting that the flies cost a quarter of what a medium sized drones with the same adaptations would cost.

>While until now you had no idea of the practical implications, with the help of Dr. Vaughn and the remains of the White Queen’s relay, your own hive’s technology has been given an unfathomable leap. The process seems simple now, as even in its state of quasi-existence, the tachyonic particle that is used to transmit the thoughts of the hive can and does interact with normal matter, albeit in a nearly undetectable and infinitesimal way. By using these nearly nonexistent markers, your medium and advanced relays can now detect the faint echoes of other sapient beings near the relay. Any medium or advanced relay can now detect the presence of sapient life up to a kilometer away, and can detect its general position within fifty meters up to two hundred and fifty meters away.

No I didn't. The fly costs 12N to lay AFTER the small size reduction. If it weren't small it would be like 50ish.

Anon, that's not the same kind of relay. Those are for the FTLcomms made by the humans.

These relays are psionic--well more succinctly put, they are two entirely different relays. One is for a communication system utilizing quantum mechanics, and the other involves tachyonic particles.

The advanced relay will, due to its position and the close proximity of the planets, have total coverage of both Gemini and its twin planet, as well as gain the advantages of the moderate psionic relay's newly unlocked abilities, centered on your hive.

So, the Valen bank.

Lyle has both a relay for communication, and... did the bank issue his card that he swipes to pay for shit?

Or is that his fake ID, which links to that account?

Unrelated, but it might be safer to keep Lyle's FTLComm here on Leeland and leave a fake on his ship. He can relay any messages through the hive network.

Ironically FTLComm strings, especially to someone as paranoid as the Broker, are much harder to replace than human beings.

It's a spoiler from Game of Thrones
Ramsay aparently only needs "20 good men" to sneak into a camp in the night, set fire to it, kill hundreds of horses, route a portion of the army, burn all the food, and destroy all the siege weapons, then sneak out without anyone seeing them. This is because they "know the land" apparently.

>>40615978
It all depends on how much food they can get. If you somehow double someone's nutrient requirements, they will need a lot more food, and it will show.

>>40616004
That will happen automatically when you interface with their minds in the tanks.

>>40616009
He's a very special clone, with special genes.
It all depends on how you go about it.
Just more silliness from Bolton's House of Lies.
No and no. I know better then to get my hopes up over anything shown at E3. Especially anything from Bethesda.

>>40616021
The largest single collection of research and knowledge would be on Mentan, but the parliament building does hold archives on a wide range of things. It is restricted to the public, however. You need to be a government official, or the guest of one to enter personally. Civilians can access limited amounts of data from the archives over the net, but cannot visit in person due to security reasons.

Union security takes the safety of representatives very seriously. You can expect the most top of the line home security systems and armed guards assigned to protect the home. Details are classified for obvious reasons, especially the names of guards and who they protect.

>>
>>40616182
Not sure, but just to be fair, they did shoot the scene in a far more overtly evil way, between the music and the overall feel of things.
Personally, I think that if they wanted the viewers to feel bad for her when she said her life is the worst, they should have done more to show it. I couldn't help but cringe when she said that to Reek of all people. It's like complaining of a dry mouth to the guy at the end of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.

But that's not important now. Setting up the next thread.
>>
>>40616222
Oh, sorry, no I meant the representatives. The identities of the armed guards are kept secret, but their homes would likely not have their own armed guards.

Question about thread 46.
Why exactly we decided to build weather spires in Leeland and Raligha?

Raligha is already hospitable for us, and I certainly don't wanna ruin the ecosystem for natives either.

In Leeland we have the thick clouds that make the scanning of the planet harder, plus the spore mushrooms, that certainly would help against enemy ground attacks.

I would rather keep both of those perks than adjust Leelands climate, for only to be able to farm those plants from Raligha.

So if no one can come up with a good reasons to continue building those spirest, I would rather start terraforming a new planet instead.
Or were the weather spires and actually making planet habitant, two different things?
>>
>>40616288
>baiting this hard
>>
>>40616304
Because they allow us to control the weather. More control is never a bad thing.

Unfortunately there is a vast difference between just putting up weather spires and terraforming an uninhabitable world. The later involves planet seeders, and in total costs millions of nutrients and metals for every use. Weather spires help maintain the climate once they're finished, but are not a part of the process, per se.
>>
>>40616304
Your weather spires both study and regulate the climate of a planet, allowing you to change the planet's environment to be more suitable for life, royally mess it up, or just regulate it against potential damage from other activities like mantle excavation. It still needs an atmosphere to alter, however, so barren planets would require more to hive-form.

>>
>>40616335
