You plan on introducing yourself once you reach the village, but it seems that won't be the case. The first patrol you encounter is in fact several miles out - two Sho'ali natives, scaled and long-snouted. The way to the Path of Ashes is marked by piled stones, carved with sigils in the Sho'ali tongue. The trail is less beaten down, and in some parts indistinguishable from the Jungle itself. Your guide is the same one who lead you here. However now he's stoic, silent.

He points to two pillars, the ruins of a structure. On asking, he says it was "Made by the ones who came before, and will remain long after." He says "Travel straight between them, and you will be on the Path of Ashes. Goodbye." He says this last part with an eerie air of finality. And then, he is gone.

She makes a soft sound, hitting the earth. She's small in death, and seems frail.
