"Sweetie, you haven't even touched your liver."

You look up at your undead mother, as she points to the blood covered meat on your plate.

"You gotta eat your meal, kiddo" says your undead father, his face not lifting from the newspaper. "Don't you want to be big and strong like your old man?"

You hear your older undead sister snicker with bits of flesh still in her mouth. Your undead father is far from big and strong, and she and you both know that.

Suddenly, a though hits your head.

Are you a boy zombie or a girl zombie
>>
>>40740024
Futanari zombie
>>
>>40740024
*looks in pants*
Well shit, I'm a boy
>>
>>40740024
Can't tell at this point, doesn't matter, really.
>>
>>40740024
You look down at your pants. You are, indeed, a boy zombie. Not that it matters too much to you, you have been mistaken for a girl zombie on occasion, but the dangling thing indicates that you are male.

"Sweetie, finish your meal please, the school hoard is almost here."

Your undead sister gets up and exits, waiting for the school hoard to walk by. Shortly after saying goodbye to your mother and father, you exit as well.

The school hoard comes by, a massive, shambling mess of undead children and teenagers, led by an adult hoard driver. It's time to join the hoard.

However, you have a few options on who you want to shamble with as you walk.

>Your undead sister, who appears to be going towards an attractive, well, as attractive as a zombie can be, teenage undead.
>Your male friend zombie, his distinct cartoon mouse watch gleaming with sunlight
>Your female friend zombie, groaning and gossiping with a smaller pack of undead girls
>Or perhaps you have a new idea on who you want to shamble with
>>
>>40740275
I would like to shamble with a zombie bird, if possible.
>>
>>40740275
You are about to make a decision, when you notice a small undead bird flying, and occasionally flapping, with the rest of the hoard. Undead animals are actually quite the rarity in this town, due to the food shortage you often hear older undead discuss when they think the younger zombies aren't around. You shamble over to it for a better look, but it gets frightened and flies away from the crowd, if only by a short distance.

It perches on a street lamp, a tattered "Vote Keely" poster hanging from it.

You leave the bird be, and soon arrive at school?

Now, what was your first class again?

You remember, your first class is Survival 101. You shamble over to the gymnasium, where the class is held to give the the students more room to practice their skills.

You find yourself a seat on the bleachers, and watch as your instructor, a worn and torn undead from the war times, continues his lecture from last time.

He talks about how many humans still do not recognize how smart zombies really are, and how this can be both blessing and a curse for zombies. He points to a table with three tools on it, a hammer, a knife, and a rock.

He points to two students, and then to you, and asks all three of you to come down.

When you're down, he points to you, and tells you to select one of the three things.

>Hammer
>Knife
>Rock

Which do you choose?

You pick up the hammer, and are told by the instructor to get behind two other students. He points to the human dummy that you use for practice, and tells you to hide your weapon behind the two others as you shamble towards the dummy.

You do so, making it look like, from the dummy's perspective, you would just be three unarmed undead. When you get close enough, you lift your hammer up into the air and slam it down on the head of the dummy, some stuffing puffing out of it.

Suddenly, an alarm goes off. The human alarm.

"Do not be alarmed. There is no human here. This is just a drill. I repeat. The is just a drill. There is no human here."

The instructor tells you three to sit back on the bleachers. You are still holding onto the hammer as you do so. The instructor does not notice.

"Do not be alarmed. There is no human here. This is just a drill. I repeat. The is just a drill. There is no human here."

The instructor grabs the knife on the table, and leaves the room, telling you all he will be back very shortly.

"Do not be alarmed. There is no human here. This is just a drill. I repeat. The is just a drill. There is no human here."

You sit quietly, and hear the two undead you were partnered with talking to each other.

"I think it's a real human this time."
"No way."
"No, I really think so. I hope so."
"Why's that?"
"My mom made us cut back on the snacks again. Says there's not enough meat to go around."
"That sucks."
"Yeah, and I'm real hungry."

Suddenly, a thought gets into your head.
Maybe you should go out and see if there actually IS a human.

You haven't seen a human in a real long time. A living one, at least.

But perhaps you should stay. Or maybe ask a friend to come with you.

What do you do?
>>
>>40741474
Grab our male zombie bro and go investigate.
>>
>>40741474
Hide
>>
>>40741474
stay there, but hide if we start hearing gunshots?
>>
>>40741474
Investigate.
>>
>>40741474
You decide that the best thing to do at this time would be to stay where you are, as you were told.

Time passes.
And more time passes.
And more time passes.

It seems to you that this is the longest drill you've had in a very long time.

You then hear footsteps.

Loud footsteps.

Fast footsteps.

Almost by instinct, you get up from the bleachers go down, and then behind those bleachers, effectively hiding you behind the rest of the students.

Someone runs into the gymnasium. They are wearing a bandana around their mouth and they're holding a gun.

"Oh fuck..." the masked character says, the voice indicating that they are female, and they are human.

The school children are beginning to get up and walk towards the human, driven by either hunger, curiosity, or both. Fear is something they just don't seem to have, at least when they are in these large numbers.

You are still hidden behind the bleachers.

What do you do?
>>
>>40741764
Stay hidden, if anyone dear to us walks by grab them and pull them into hiding too.
>>
>>40741764
Is there, on the bleacher, any spots that we reckon would be thick enough to stop bullets?

If so, hide behind that.

If not, leg it.
how is our hunger? Also, these other students haven't picked up much from the survival lessons.
>>
>>40741764
Move around to cut her off as she inevitably runs. We know this school better.
then save her and send her off with news of smart zombies so she can help raise awareness
>>
>>40741764
Despite feeling a little peckish yourself, you decide it would be safest to stay hidden behind the bleachers, in case this human turns out to be as dangerous as this class has told you it is. Besides, maybe the bleachers can block bullets, who knows?

You see your male zombie friend walking down, just as the woman actually fires a shot off from her gun. You've heard that sound before, and it's not a good sound. You don't know if anyone was hit, but you don't want to risk anyone being in danger. You grab your male zombie friend, who's name you remember to be Graaazzzgrgaaaahhhh no wait, it was really Josh and pull him to the hiding spot with you.

"What are you doing back here?" he asks "don't you want to get the human too?"

You tell him she might be dangerous with that gun of hers, and you don't want him to be hurt.

He seems confused at the moment, but begrudgingly smiles.

"Okay, mom." he says, giving you a firm punch on the shoulder.

The human woman fires off another shot, and you can hear the sound of the bullet hitting flesh. You close your eyes.

You hear the woman scream, forcing you to open them. Your instructor has snuck behind the woman and stabbed her in the throat.

The crowd descends onto her and begin to feast.

You and your friend can't help but to eat as well.

"So son, how was school?" your father asks.

The principle told you that you should try keeping what happened today a secret.

What do you say?

>"There was a human at school today!"
>"It was alright."
>"Lunch was really good today."
>Something else?

"Hey, what are you doing?

>>
>>40742112
Eh
>>
>>40742112
"Lunch was really good today" you say to your father. Your older sister snickers as she hears this, and your father gives her a look, but dismisses it. Your sister was not there in the gymnasium, but she heard the news of what happened.

You talk about how you had fresh human meat this time at school, which isn't a lie, so you won't feel bad about saying that.

Your father is at first surprised that they would suddenly start giving fresh human meat at school, especially with the food shortage issue, but he is glad that the school cares enough about the children to provide it.

Your father then remembers that theres a debate on television that he's missing, and he stumbles over to the TV, turns it on, and begins to watch.

The election for mayor of the town is coming up, and the debate for voter support is between long time and current Mayor Keely, and Randal Hartrip, a new, underdog choice.

"I have not let this town down before," Keely says, looking practically like a skeleton due to his age, "I will not let it down now. The rationing works, it as always worked, and when our local projects are complete, we will not need to ration anymore."

"But you won't tell anyone what these projects are! We need to be honest with the people, and we need to act more! The humans are giving us less and less tribute food, crime is increasing, we need to work with the community!"

"But we are working with the community. I'm just not announcing every single detail of our affairs, because the community should focus on what's really important. Family, friends, living their undeaths to the fullest. Not being stressed by political talk."

Your dad looks over to you.

"Who do you like more, son? Keely or Hartrip?"

What do you say?
>>
>>40742473
Burying our heads in the ground never leads anywhere good.
>>
>>40742473
Keely is a good leader, but is maybe stuck in his ways. Hartrip is right, we need to work with them and with more transparency.
>>
>>40742473
You don't know much about the politics of this town, but you do say that Hartrip is trying to be honest, and you like that, even if Keely is a good leader.

Your father smiles. "I was always a Keely man myself, but it's good to see you're interested in politics, unlike your mother or your sister."

"Are you talking about politics? You know I don't like that stuff in this household. That's why I like Keely. Nice and simple."

--------

It is night, and you are sleeping in your bed.
You hear a tapping at your window.
You wake up, and carefully look outside.

It's Josh.

You open the window.

"You know that human we ate today? She didn't come alone. I found out where they are. Wanna come with me and see them?"

What do you say or do?
>>
>>40742742
Sure, I haven't seen a whole human for more than a few seconds. Let's go take a look. As long as it's just a look, don't want to get caught.
>>
>>40742742
Yeah but let's not let them see us, don't wanna get shot.
>>
>>40742742
We should bring others. They could kill us.
>>
>>40742742
Fine, but we need to be sneaky.

Do we have any black, or off grey clothing?
>>
>>40742742
Fuck yeah!
No moaning though.
Maybe we can get close enough and get a gun!
>>
>>40742742
You agree to see the humans, but only if you play it safe. Josh agrees to your request for black clothing and more companions.

He, wearing his black hoodie and backpack, pulls out a tattered ninja costume.

"I found this in one of those empty costume stores once. I thought you might like it so we could be really sneaky. Now come on, let's go get others."

You put on the ninja costume, which does make you feel sneaky, and head out with him.

As you walk, you both struggle to contain your moans of excitement. You go to your lady friend's house, her name being AAARRRGGRAAAAAAAHHHHH no wait, it's actually Caroline.

You were expecting more than just one other zombie, but Josh says if you bring too many the humans might see.

Caroline, also wearing a black ninja costume (the same one she wore for Halloween last year) tags along.

As you walk, questions enter your head.

>How'd you find these humans?
>Do you think they're dangerous?
>Do you think we'll get in trouble?
>If you were old enough to vote, who would you vote for, Keely or Hartrip?
>Something else?
>>
>>40743049

>How'd you find these humans?
>Do you think they're dangerous?
>>
>>40743049
>How'd you find these humans?
>Do you think they're dangerous?
>>
>>40743049
"How did you find these humans?" you ask Josh.

"I like exploring a lot," he says, "and I live really close by to the boarder of town, you know, so it's easy for me to see cool stuff. I saw some glowing things tonight while I was exploring, and I followed them, and they turned out to be flashlights. There's three humans hiding near some buildings right outside of town, it's really cool."

"Do you think they're dangerous?" you ask.

"I bet they are" says Caroline.

"They so are, but it's gonna be so cool" says Josh.

--------

You eventually make it to where these humans are meant to be. Josh is right, there were three humans hiding here. What he didn't tell you was that Randal Hartrip is also there, talking to the three humans like it was nothing.

The three of you stay hidden, and listen.

"Look boss, we messed up today, but we're gonna get this done" a muscular humans says to Hartrip.

"You better!" Hartrip yelps, "I won't let Keely win this election just because everyone thinks they're safe with him in charge! Do something they can't just cover up!"

What do you do?

Josh suggests that you should say hello, since they're talking to a zombie, and if the humans are talking to a zombie that must mean they're nice.

Caroline is more worried. She says that "we all should go home now before they see us."

What do you think?
>>
>>40743313
hide they're up to something.
>>
>>40743313
Send Caroline back to (our father? maybe?) with the info that hartrip's about to "Do something they can't just cover up!" (probably kill a bunch of zombies) and tell him to take it to the authorities.

Us and Josh need to retreat to far earshot, and eavesdrop, while taking extra care not to let someone sneak up on us.
>>
>>40743313
hide and listen what they're up to
>>
>>40743313
You whisper for the group to keep their distance and keep listening, but Caroline is instant that the group leaves. You tell her to go back to her father **clarification, Caroline is not our older sister, she is our friend** and tell him what she has heard, while you and Josh keep listening.

She leaves, and you back up to a safer hiding spot to keep listening.

"What if, like, we shoot down that hoard of kids that come by every morning?" asks the muscular human.

"No!" yells Hartrip, "you already tried putting kids in danger, when I told you not to do that, mind you, and you're not going to put kids in danger again. Think of something else."

"What if we uh, attack-"

And then Josh walks up the humans and Hartrip.

You can only look at him, mouth agape, as Josh talks to them.

"Hi humans, hi other zombie, I'm Josh."

What do you do?
Your mind races for possible solutions.

>Grab Josh and run
>Come over and try to make an excuse
>Run away without Josh
>Sneak up and try to find a way to get Josh out quickly
>Sneak up and attack
>Something else?
>>
>>40743638
Presumably Hartrip won't just up and murder someone, but if he decides to, we really can't do anything about three humans with guns.

we need to hide here, and be ready to run if Josh does something stupid, (like try to call us over), and ready to witness if Hartrip has him shot.
>>
>>40743697
seconding this
>>
>>40743638
>Sneak up and try to find a way to get Josh out quickly

We can't do much but we can at least be close if <spoiler>shit</spoiler> hits the <spoiler>shit</spoiler>
>>
>>40743697
This.

Also quick question, do zombies age?
>>
>>40743638
Realizing you're outmatched to do anything right now against humans with guns, you stay hidden, approaching only as much as you feel safe doing, and keep listening.

The humans have their guns set on Josh, who does not seem to fully recognize the danger he is in.

Hartrip looks as if he's about to break out in a swearing fit, but forces himself to calm down.

"Lower your weapons" he tells the humans. They do so.

"Little boy," says Hartrip to Josh, "were you at the Good Hope School today? When that human snuck in?"

"Oh yeah, I was!" Josh yelps cheerfully, "she was so tasty! I haven't had fresh human in a long time!"

One of the three humans, a woman, lifts her gun again, visibly enraged.

"Weapons down!" shouts Hartrip. "Now, little boy," he says to Josh, "would you like to be in a movie?"

"Would I!? Of course I would!"

Hartrip points to a skinny male human. "Get the camera," he says to him.

The skinny human does so, and begins filming Josh.

Hartrip speaks again, but in a deeper voice, as if pretending to be someone else. "What happened at Good Hope School today?"

What do you do? Do you keep waiting and watching, or try something else?

>>40743977
Give it some time, I will go into zombies and the concept of age soon.
>>
>>40744064
Frankly, I doubt he's gonna kill the guy he's got doing shady PR stuff for him, but it would probably be wise to learn a little more about Hartrip's insane plans before we leave.

Also, are we some kind of super special zombie, or are we just utterly failing to roleplay as a normal zombie?
>>
>>40744242
You wait, and continue watching.

"Oh, that's easy. I was in Survival 101 class when there was a human alarm. They said it was just a drill, but it wasn't a drill, because there was a real life human who was in the school. And my friend pulled me away from the human because he didn't want me to get hurt, but the woman wasn't good at fighting, because she only hit one kid with a bullet, and not even at the right spot, so he was fine, and then our teacher stabbed her in the neck and we ate her."

"And once again," says Hartrip, "the school tried to trick you into thinking you weren't in danger?"

"Uh...I guess so."

"That's all."

The skinny human stopped recording, and put the camera away.

"Now go back home to your parents, okay?" says Hartrip.

"Okay" says Josh.

Josh walks away, and comes to your hiding spot when the humans aren't looking.

"I'm gonna be in a movie" he says to you nonchalantly.

What do you do now? Go home? Ask him questions? Hide somewhere new?
>>
>>40744242
>>40744478
Also
no, you're doing fine roleplaying as this form of zombie.
>>
>>40744478
Smack Josh and send him home but I vote that we stay and listen.
>>
>>40744478
We need to get home, we have pushed our luck already with us not being caught yet.

>>40744550
>>
>>40744478
Let's keep watching. Maybe go out and talk to the humans? Don't leave, this is interesting. I wonder what Hartrip is planning.
>>
If we get caught by them, maybe we could pretend to be "out looking for my friend Josh"
or something, so they don't think we've been listening for long?
>>
>>40744478
You wind back to give Josh a firm smack across his decayed face, but stop yourself. Despite your anger at his stupidity, you don't want to risk getting caught yourself. You silently point away, and he understands that you want him to go home, which he starts to do. He expects you to come with him, but you are still interested in hearing what is going on. You stay in your hiding spot.

Time passes, and it's nothing but back and forth between Hartrip and the humans on what sort of travesties they could pull of. They have not given any specifics as to why they are doing this, and the conversation seems to stretch into nothing but a back and forth argument.

Suddenly, Hartrip stop talking. The sun is beginning to rise.

"I need to go, we'll meet up at the same time."

Hartrip begins to shamble off, and passes right by your hiding spot. Luckily for you, you don't believe he saw you.

But now you need to get home!

When you make it home, with just an hour before you should be awake. Exhausted, you pass out on the bed.

You dream of the human city.

Your life as a human is fragmented in your mind, but you do remember one thing distinctly. When you were still alive, you were banished from the city, forced to wander alone without your parents or brother to watch over you. Of course, this was before you turned and were adopted by your new family, your undead father, your undead mother, and your undead sister. You remember seeing the city, and its great walls, and its glowing lights, getting smaller and smaller as you walked away, the bite mark on your arm growing black.

------

"Hey doofus, wake up!"

Your undead sister shakes you awake.

Before you can say anything, she whispers in your ear.

"I know you snuck out last night."

What do you do?

Thanks for the feedback. Might have later replies for a bit, but I'm still on here, so just be prepared for that.

>>
>>40745419
You search in your mind for an excuse as to why you snuck out.

The most you could say is that you "saw some friends." This is true, so you won't feel guilty about it.

"Oh I bet you did." She smiles. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone what you were doing."

You are confused. What does she think you were doing?

Before you can ask, or not ask, it's time for breakfast. You're having raw chicken this morning. Your father had to leave for work early, so luckily you only need to deal with your mother's comments on how tired you look.

After breakfast, you head out into the school hoard.

You see Josh on one side of the hoard, Caroline on the other.

Who do you go to? Or do you want to just walk in the hoard alone and think about things? Maybe just look around town as you walk?
>>
>>40745419
>>40745510
I like the idea of that. Sleepshambling.

Btw, OP, just a bit of an FYI, but it's a horde, not a hoard. A hoard is something dragons sit on.
>>

>just look around.
>>
>>40745948
I'd say they shamble extra hard. and move more slowly.
>>
>>40745879
Oops. Thanks for noticing that for me

>>40745857
You decide to go check on Caroline, and ask her two questions. First, you tell her about Josh's idiot move last night, and ask if she's noticed that's been especially thick lately.

Caroline looks concerned. She says that Josh's family has been suffering more than others during this food shortage. She doesn't want to start any rumors about him, but she's afraid that he's starting to suffer from the brain rot.

You feel a ping of worry. Josh was always a little thick, but brain rot is a serious threat in these times, and you don't want him to suffer that fate.

You then ask her if she told anyone about what happened.

She looks sad.

She tells you she told her father.Turns out not only was her father more concerned with her sneaking out, but he was also a huge supporter of Hartrip, and thinks that she only made up the story to make him angry.

Now Caroline is grounded.

Hmm, is there a police presence here that could be warned?

Who exactly is the best person to go to with the information?

>dad
>kelly himself
>the police?
>>
>>40746272
You remember, it's shop class to start the day.

Your undead mother was concerned at first when you told her you signed up for shop class at the start of this year of school, due to accidents being common for zombie when managing power tools, but you like the feeling of creating something with them, using your brain. Makes you feel more alive, but you'd never say that outside of writing class.

You are working on a birdhouse, though there are hardly any birds left in this town, when the shop teacher, a very fat zombie man, calls everyone attention.

"Look, the principle wants all the teachers to remind you kids not to talk about what happened yesterday. I know it was exciting, but we don't want your parents to be worried, now do we?"

Not many pay the message too much attention, especially the gang of bullies who always work in the back and threaten other zombies with drills when the teacher isn't looking.

-----

It's lunch. Stale cow meat. Not as tasty as the fresh human from yesterday. You sit with Josh and Caroline at a table.

"I can't wait to be in this movie" says Josh.
"Come on," says Caroline "you almost got yourself killed."
"But I didn't" Josh replies.

You begin to think about last night again. You want to tell someone what happened, right? But who do you tell?

Your parents when you get home?
Maybe the police?

Maybe you should ask Caroline and Josh what they think.
>>
>>40746782
Call me incredibly paranoid, but I would rather deliver the info straight to someone who can use it rather than letting it disperse harmlessly as an easily dismissed rumour.
>>
>>40746782

>>
>>40746782

>>

You think about the situation for a bit, and tell your friends your plan.

Caroline's father may not have listened because he supports Hartrip, but your own father and mother are Keely supporters. If you ask your dad what to do, he'll be able to handle it, even if you get in trouble for sneaking out.

Your friends decide that your plan is the best, at least for now. If it doesn't work, Caroline insists that they go to the police.

-----------

"You snuck out son? How could you? That's so unlike you, son, no wonder your mother said you looked like he had no sleep last night."

You apologize yet again, but explain the whole situation to him. Everything about Hartrip and the humans, and how they're planning on doing something very bad.

Your sister, realizing that you weren't actually doing what she thought you were doing, seems disappointed, and doesn't take in what you are saying seriously.

But your father does.

"Son, I'm not going to go to the police, but I will do something about this. Trust me. Do not tell your mother we had this conversation."

------

You are now sleeping.

What are you dreaming about?

You dream of brain rot.

In your dream, the town is barren and lifeless...more barren and lifeless than usual, at least. You are hiding in your room, because you know they are coming. An army of humans marching down the road, coming very soon, to kill everyone.

You realize the only thing to do now is to go to your parents for help.

You run out of your bedroom, and look at horror a the kitchen. Your undead family, starved, brain rotted. They do not remember you anymore, and they can not speak. The food shortage has destroyed them.

The walls melt, and the human army runs at you, and tears you to shreds.

--------

You wake up to a loud banging, the front door opening.

You sneak out of your bedroom to investigate.

You see your father, covered in fresh blood.

And that is the end of Zombie Quest 1. Any feed back for a first time quest thread guy? And what's the usual rule for doing continuations to Quest Threads?

What exactly do you mean "Usual rule"?
>>
>>40747829
Well, I plan to try continuing this tomorrow at around the same time I posted this thread. It may sound stupid, but I don't want to be posting at times people won't see the thread, you know?

Sorry again if that sounds dumb.

This is your first quest!?
...You're gonna go far in this business, kid.

Oh, that.
Well, to my rather sketchy knowledge, the time you ran today would probably be alright, although you probably get a feel for such things eventually.

starting a twitter would probably help get people in the threads, too.

and then there's archiving, which is something you might want to think about.

Four probablys! I really need some sleep.
>>
>>40748017
Thanks, I'll consider those options. Posting the archives stuff would probably be helpful, and hopefully if this gets a strong enough following I'll try doing a twitter.

>>40747923
Thanks. I've got some good writing experience, but I've never actually done a quest thread before, so it's nice to know you liked it.
>>
I'll quest with you any day good sir

Thanks for the compliment!
