So, let's see... news.

Not much here, actually. I looked over the planned notes, and, unless you guys do something really wacky, we're probably in the last several threads. I don't want to say for sure, but probably no more than 10-12, give or take. Kinda weird, huh? haha. Anyway.

Archive here:

And as a heads up I found a recipe for coca-cola bourbon chicken wings I want to try, so we may get a delay while I make myself some dinner. Or I might just order a pizza, who knows? haha.

++

The girls, well, Stasya and Lilya, are both very interested in cooking, you've noted.

As the gauze and burn cream now decorating you and the pair of spent fire extinguishers can also attest, they're positively magical at creating unintended catastrophes. They also seem to have a fixation on hot sauce; Tabasco or Louisiana brand, it makes no difference. You suspect you know who you can 'thank' for that.

You've got them under control now, with Katya supervising them, along with one of the house witches, on peeling and boiling potatoes. You've noted the immediate presence of a military medical kit- one of the big, backpack-style ones. It's sitting within easy arm's reach as the witches instruct the girls. You're pretty sure they won't need it, but at this point, you're not entirely certain of that.

1/3
>>
Still, you're pretty happy with cooking so far. Katya tried her hand at making stuffed peppers- bell peppers were a bit difficult to find this time of year here, but you'd turned up enough to make the effort worthwhile, and you're grilling some potatoes and mashing others. Magda Young- the eldest of the family, and still the eldest witch in the house, lurked around only enough to determine that she couldn't help, and disappeared. A real shame when the first and second fires broke out so closely together. You're not even entirely sure how it happened, but you're glad the fire extinguisher put them out- both were a peculiar shade of purple you've never seen before. You're hoping that's not a thing connected to their talent, whatever their talent may be.

You haven't heard back from lady Dowding yet, though you don't really expect to until you hit London anyway. You've got a vague suspicion it's going to be the same talent- that all three of them will have it, but you're not sure. What's surprised you is that the two of them seem to be very interested in cooking while Anya has been in their shared room since you came back. Katya had spent some time with her, and said she was fine, just tired. You're vaguely uneasy about that, Katya insisted. She's fine, but hasn't been sleeping well, and that you should just let her nap.

So you took the girls to Rusty's butcher shop, where he was happy to see you again and meet them, giving them both die-cast sheriff badges and small, novelty cowboy hats. Regrettably, both hats were destroyed in the first kitchen fire. The badges, singed, survived, and have since been moved out of the kitchen.

2/3
>>
You're simmering your hot sauce for the wings when Anya pads in to the kitchen to join all of you, her bare feet slapping against the tile. You look back over your shoulder at the girl and smile, though she just rubs an eye and yawns.

"Hey Anya." You call, causing Stasya, Lilya, and Katya to all look over at her. "Want to help?"

She shakes her head.

"Feeling better?" You ask.

She nods, barely, and walks over to join Katya and the girls, peering into the tub with the potatoes. The girls are washing them before handing them off to Katya, who's slicing some and putting the others in a pot. So far, with just potatoes and water, they haven't managed to cause an incident. Yet.

You turn your attention back to the wings, noting the sauce is basically done. you made about 5lbs of wings, which ought to be enough, though you're afraid it won't be. Of course, you've got to get the steaks going soon too, so you'll hand off the wings to Katya.

"Ah, there you are." Lady Dowding says, standing in the doorway of the kitchen. "They informed me you were cooking dinner this evening, I had to come down and see."

You laugh. "Figured I might give it a shot, yeah." You respond. "Will you be joining us?"

"It smells absolutely delightful, and I'd love to." She says. "I also have news for you from the matrons."

You look over to see all three girls stiffen a bit.

[x] How about we talk about that later, after dinner?

Noting their reactions- and Katya's, as she inches a bit closer to the fire extinguisher nearby- you nod. "How about we talk about that later, after dinner?" You say.

She nods in agreement, still not quite stepping into the kitchen.

"I've been meaning to ask, though, how formal are meals here, usually?" You say before she turns to leave.

She laughs. "Usually, that sort of thing is up to the witch in charge of the house." She explains. "With a Young here, I'd imagine they're quite informal. None of that family ever stood much for it, except perhaps Minna."

You grin. "Well, that's good. Hard to imagine formal chicken wings."

She laughs again. "I'll leave you to it, then, sir Bishop. And I look forward to trying your cooking."

"It is well worth it." Katya says, from her place over by the sink. "He may not cook often, but it is excellent when he does."

Lady Dowding nods and heads back to the dining room, probably to help set it.

You finish cooking in silence- the girl's hearts seem to have gone out of it, though they stay there with you and Katya. Not hard to imagine why, of course- they knew what the German matrons were looking for, and with a response coming this quickly, it's doesn't take much to see they probably found it.

The house is actually surprisingly empty- you distinctly remember a couple extra witches being here this morning, but aside from Magda, there's only a pair of younger German witches and Lady Dowding. You probably cooked a bit much, you realize, though it's too late to do anything about that.

"Wings?" Magda asks, watching the girls help bring in the trays. You nod. "And steak. You know a butcher named Rusty?"

1/2
>>
She laughs. "Dad loves that place, says it's the only decent beef in the whole country."

You shrug. "I wouldn't know about that, but it is good beef. There's eight steaks there, they're all medium rare except that one there, it's just medium. I didn't know how everyone took theirs. The tray there-" You point at the tray of wings Stasya is setting down- "Is spicy, the other one isn't."

Dinner doesn't take too long- Stasya favors the spicy wings, while Lilya, Anya, and Katya seem to not. You don't think you made them too hot, but you aren't sure- you've always liked spicy food, so your definition of hot may differ from theirs. Still, there's not too many leftovers as the girls clear the table, maybe a couple dozen wings all told, and one of the steaks, along with some of the potatoes.

You sit there at the table for a minute before excusing yourself to help, though there isn't much to do. You're kind of putting off talking to Lady Dowding, you realize, though you're not sure why, to be honest. You sigh inwardly and set off to find her.

Finding her isn't too hard- she's in the sitting room, a pair of glasses perched on her nose as she leafs through a book- an old one, by the look of it. "Ah," She says, not looking up. "I was wondering when you'd join us."

"Us?" You ask, looking around and noticing Magda for the first time, seated nearby, sipping what smells like coffee from here.

"Us." She says. "It's coven business. I'm not nearly as into that as some people, but mom probably wants to know what's going on, so here I am."

Lady Dowding looks past you at the door. "Do you want to bring the girls in?" She asks. "It concerns them, afterall."

>A real shame when the first and second fires broke out so closely together. You're not even entirely sure how it happened, but you're glad the fire extinguisher put them out- both were a peculiar shade of purple you've never seen before.
Had a funny dream a couple nights ago. It was like a series of pictures, big and poster sized. The first picture was Stasya and Lilya holding up a big plate with a cake on it and saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAAAAA-DYYYYYY". The second picture was from the side showing them putting the cake on a table. The third picture was from behind the girls showing the back of their heads, the cake and what had to be Frank. Frank was stuffed into an EOD suit that looked 3 sizes too big for him with the sleeves all bunched up and stuff. Complete with the big reflective blast shield helmet thing. The fourth picture was from the side again. Frank had a lit match in his hand and was slooowly stretching it out towards the candles on the cake while the two daughters smiled at him. His hand was shaking like a leaf and sweat was pouring down the front of the EOD helmet.

I didn't get to see what happened next because that's when I woke up. I got up all groggy headed and the only thing I could think was "why is Frank lighting the candles on his own birthday cake?".

We know the reason.

[x] Yeah, you have a point, let me go get them all.

You nod, agreeing. "You have a point, let me go get them." You say, backing out of the room and heading to your own assigned apartments. It doesn't take long to get the girls- you end up carrying Lilya, while Stasya walks next to you, holding your hand, and Anya, as always, stays close to Katya.

Re-entering the library, you can feel the girls tense up- Stasya clutches your hand a bit harder, and Lilya stiffens a bit, her legs squeezing your neck from behind. Lady Dowding, if she notices, doesn't say anything.

"Hello, girls." She says, sounding for all the world like a kindly grandmother, which is probably an act, but a good one. "I imagine you know why we're all here?"

Stasya alone nods.

"Good. Shall we find out what the matrons have to say?"

No response that time. You move to set Lilya down, but she's having none of it, refusing to let go once she's in your arms. You settle for holding her that way- she's too big for it, of course, but this time, you're willing to make an exception.

Lady Dowding produces a sealed envelope, a plain, white thing, with only the seal of the German coven on the back. She opens it on one end, sliding out three single sheets of paper.

"The Matrons of Germany, acting on the request of the esteemed Matron London and Sir Bishop, guardian of witches, has determined the identities of Stasya Bishop and Lilya Bishop to be those of Silke Klossner and Karla Weiss." She says, carefully, reading from the cover sheet. "The witch Anya has not been matched to any known missing German witches currently."

"Klossner and Weiss?" Magda says- earning her a sharp look from Katya, of which she seems not to notice. Lady Dowding continues to read, not paying attention to the interruption.

1/2
>>
"No related witches have been found to either Silke or Karla, and there are no records of them having entered any German witch's academy." She says. "The federal police have been contacted in an effort to find any surviving relatives-" She flips the pages over a few times, but stops there, and looks up.

"That seems to be all." She says. "The rest of it is a record of the testing and where to find their records in the coven archives, along with an attached note that their records are incredibly slim, just the results of their initial testing."

You look down at Stasya, who looks completely stonefaced, showing no emotion. "What would that cover?"

"Not much, I'm afraid." Lady Dowding says. "Just the basic imprint of their power, their familiar, things of that nature. The German coven prefers to determine talent and relative strength during their academy entry tests."

"And when will the police be having anything about surviving family members?" Katya asks. Anya, for her part, looks like she's not sure what to think.

"Impossible to tell." Lady Dowding says. "It's being done quietly. Young Karla-"

"Lilya." Lilya corrects, a touch more forcefully than necessary.

2/3 (oops)
>>
"My apologies. Young Lilya would have quite the fortune left to her, her father was a major part of Weiss aerospace, and as you know, they're quite involved with the eurofighter project." She says. "I'd imagine there being a scramble to claim her as family if this all were to get out."

You hear the sharp intake of breath from Lilya, and squeeze her a bit to preempt anything. "But we talked about that." You point out.

She nods. "Quite right, and we intend to stand by it. So far as the covens are concerned, you are their father by adoption, and will remain that way. No one will attempt to take them from you." The last, you think, was added for their benefit. You feel Lilya relax a bit at that- her protest dying before finding itself voiced.

She folds the letters back up and places them back in the envelope. "If you wish, I can have a copy of this forwarded to a coven of your choice in the U.S." She says. "It should prove helpful, when the time for them to enter an academy comes."

I know it varies a lot for people. I get dreams if my brain is too active before sleep, like if I'm watching youtube or reading quests and whatnot. I think it also has to do with environmental light and sound while you are asleep, the more outside stimuli going on the weirder things get inside your head while unconscious, and believe me I've seen some shit.

There was one dream I had where I was a magicka wizard. I was running around beating up and fending off high school students in a wood working shop that was also a Costco. Dodging people with shopping carts and pallets of fresh produce while swinging a wooden sword that looked like a cross between a fish and what you could get if you asked Aladdin's genie to make you a katana out of clouds. Near the end I barked my shins on something, looked down and saw a six year old pushing a tiny shopping cart. The dream ended when said six year old grabbed the front of my robes and threw me through the wall of the building.

I swear you can't make this shit up. Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction.

As we can see, Ghost's predictions are off by a factor of nearly three.
Therefore, if he guesses it'll take ten more threads for the quest to end, that means it'll actually take about thirty threads, and the actual factor will increase the more threads we play without the quest ending.

So yes, fifty threads should be a safe bet.

[x] Can you just give me a copy instead? We all have a lot of discussing to do before we get to that point.

"Can you just give me a copy instead?" You ask. "We all have a lot of discussing to do before we get to that point."

Lady Dowding nods. "Of course. Also, if I may, the royal witch's academy would be more than happy to accept your girls for their education." She says, then laughs. "Though I'm sure many other academies would love to have them among their students as well."

You nod. "I'm sure. But we have a lot to discuss, if you'll excuse us?"

"Oh, of course, of course." She replies, nodding. "If you need anything, I shall be here. I rather expect you might." She smiles.

You thank her and head back to the apartments, closing the door behind you before setting Lilya down on one couch. She's joined in short order by Stasya and Anya, all of whom look at you and Katya expectantly.

Who talked about eating?

Okay, in all seriousness there might be stores selling Turkish delights around where they can get messy and sticky.
>>
>>40787928
It's not about how well the girls would be treated - it's that the academy has sufficiently cunty bitches running it who would treat *any* of their students like they did Wendy solely on something a relative did a long time ago.

I don't think Frank or the moms would want their daughters taught by people like that.

(Wendy as godmom would be hilarious. Dunno if she's going back just yet, though - she seems to want to stay with Ice and Frank as long as possible. Wendymaid?)
>>

Nonono. That's not what i'm saying at all.

She perked up just fine once she hear she was being seconded to Ice indefinitely.

It's the idea of being a stateless vagrant that was horrifying to her, not just being away from the UK.

Frankly, every bit of screentime she's had indicates that she'd be quite happy staying with Ice or Frank forever.

>What do you want to tell them?

"I want you girls to know, before anyone says anything, that I don't care who you were before." You say, taking a seat on the couch opposite them. "You're still my girls, and that's never going to change."

Neither of them says anything, so you continue. "It doesn't matter what name either of you have." You say, adding on to your first point. "Ok? We're family now, and we're going to stay family."

They nod, still quiet, and you look over at Anya. "Anya, you ok?"

She nods.

"The same goes for you, if you want it." You say. "I won't force anything on you you don't want, but I'm sure the girls would love to be able to really call you sister."

She nods again, not responding.

"But I think that's enough of this." You state. "Remember those apples I had you peel?"

They all nod, and you grin. "Well, I snuck in while you weren't looking and made some pie, just like My grandmom, your greatgrandmom, used to make. I think there's some ice cream in the freezer down in our kitchen, too, Katya, if you'll grab it. Why don't you girls sit down at the table?"

The three of them look at each other and slowly get up, walking over to the table and sitting back down. You grin at that, getting the pie off the top of the refrigerator in the apartment's kitchen, along with the ice cream. You set them on the table, smiling as the girls look at the pie, then you.

"Wait just a minute, girls." You say, heading back into the kitchen for a knife. "Let me help Katya get the plates."

With plates and glasses set out- though you still can't have proper milk, you've found juice seems to go Ok with pie. You cut each girl a slice, giving Anya hers first, then Stasya and Lilya, then Katya and finally yourself, leaving a second piece for each of the girls.

You're all about finished when there's a knock on the door.

You look at Katya, who shrugs.

[x] Go get the door.

You sigh, standing up and walking over to the door. You wish it had a peep hole in it, but without one, you have to settle for just opening it.

You weren't ready for the hug waiting on the other end. "H-hi Rachel." You wheeze, hoping she didn't crack a rib. She lets you go and strolls into the apartments, while Ice, elects to stand up on her tiptoes to plant a kiss on you.

"What brings you two here?" You ask as they head over to the table, where they hug Katya and Ice gets a hug from Lilya.

"Stopped over on the way to London to collect you." Ice says. "We figured we'd spend the night here, then leave in the morning."

"Oh?" You ask. "You're just going to collect us?"

She nods, taking a seat at the table after dropping her bag near the couches. "Mhmm." She says. "Ooh. Pie. Mind if we have a peice?"

"Ask the girls." You say, looking down the hallway. Not seeing anyone else, you shut the door behind you and turn around. "It's theirs."

"Oh, well, in that case, don't worry about it." Ice says. "I'll just have some ice cream."

"It's ok, you can have my piece." Lilya says quietly.

"That's ok, Lil." Ice says, smiling at the girl. "You can have it, it's yours."

"So why are you already headed out?" You ask. "And what about our fighters?"

"Flown out on transports." Ice says. "They're headed to Wattisham, there's a depot there being run by the airforce. our ground crews are headed there too."

"A depot? We're being pulled out?" You ask.

Ice shakes her head. "This is R&R, not demobilization." She says. "But all four fighters were pretty close to ground zero when the bombs hit, and yours has radioactive particles all over the rear skin. They're going to do a full overhaul there too and see if they can't clean it all out."

"How long?" You ask, taking a seat.

"Not a clue. This kind of thing is new, they're making it up as they go along." She responds. "A couple days? a week? a month? who knows?"

"So what's going on until then?"

"R&R in England." She says. "I sent Wendy ahead as my aide, she'll be opening up our rooms at the lodge and getting everything else squared away. We'll actually report in to RAF Northholt, but that's not really anything."

"So that's where everyone else is staying?"

Slider shakes her head. "Naw. Rosalie is headed back to Paris, so we probably won't see her. Sakamoto said something about having to do some work at the embassy, so we might not see too much of her, either."

"And Merlin?"

"Went ahead with Sakamoto, for now." Ice says. "We asked if she wanted to come here, she said she didn't want to bother us. We tried to convince her, but she was pretty set." She shrugs.

You nod, sitting down on one of the couches. You're joined pretty quickly by Stasya, who stretches out to lay down and rests her head against your side. You wrap one arm around her and she smiles, worming around to a more comfortable position and closing her eyes.

You're about to introduce Anya to Ice and Slider, but Katya beats you to it. "Anya, these are my sisters, Tabitha and Rachel." She says, simply. "This is Anya. She is the sister to Lilya and Stasya."

"Hi Anya." Ice says, smiling at the girl, who looks at her, blankly.

"Anyway, I'm beat. Where's the bedroom?" Slider says, yawning and stretching, also leading you to a sudden, horrifying realization.

There's four beds. the girls are using three of them in the other room.

> So, how exactly did witches change history, considering they were existent for pretty much all of human history?

In a few ways. While you probably wouldn't feel too terribly out of place, were you to be transported there (Time-travel BS aside, I mean... and the existence of witches as such), there are a lot of historical issues that would pop up. A good example, actually, is Rome- in the witching world, most of Rome's history was saved by Roman covens and holds at the fall of the empire. Places like Barin, which started out as a hold, survived through the European dark ages intact (Indeed, many holds became islands of stability and learning during that time, helping the renaissance to kick off sooner)
Certain events- like the burning of Joan of arc and the salem witch trials- never happened (Joan of arc was instead confined to a hold in england for the rest of her life, and salem... just never happened) and certain people (Such as the grand duchess Anastasia Romanov) survive.

Feminism never really becomes a thing- stuff like women's suffrage never happens because it never has to. Witches have generally forced gender equality, since, well. YOU tell a witch her place is at home, in the kitchen, or whatever. see how that works out for you.

Religions tend to spread a bit differently. While the western world still becomes dominated largely by Christianity, you see a lot more of the 'old' religions hanging around. Paganism, for example, is still alive and well (if nowhere near as influential as Christianity)
>>

Not sure how this will format, but here goes.

Two sharp knocks on the door.

“Come in.”

She seemed alright, if tired. You ready yourself and enter.

“Lieutenant Davis, this is a bit of a surprise. Did you need something? Everything going well?”

She seemed… pleased to see me? Huh. “I’m doing well Commander, a few close calls, especially with all the anti-air, but nothing too serious. I had a question, or set or questions, actually. I’m not sure you can answer them, but I was at least hoping for something to work with.”

“I’ll certainly tell you what I can, but why are you so nervous? And call me Ice, you are part of our squadron for the moment, even if we are loaning you out. Is that the issue?”

She liked Commander Kazi-Ice. She kept forgetting the name. She was honestly surprised when the woman asked her not to refer to her by her rank, what little gossip she had heard during her time at Annapolis painted a picture of a much… colder(pff) woman.
>>
>>40790198
Kinda sad if this quest really end that soon.
>>
The dissonance between her expectations and the real woman made for a less than comfortable first meeting, but turned out for the best. After all, she didn’t think she’d be here if Ice were any less open than she seemed.

It didn’t really help mitigate the fear of the answers she might get.

“Not really, it’s more about why I ended up here at all. I was aware of the reputation and when I got assigned here… something seemed off. This arrangement with the other units only reinforced how strange this is.”

And wow, did that get her attention. Nervous, not sure how to respond. She knows something, and, is she surprised I don’t know?

“That’s not all. Really, it’s a trend at this point. With that exam, and the academy-”

“What do you mean?”

That really got to her. She definitely has a good idea what’s going on, but she seems to have believed… I would know something? And my asking disproves that.

“Are you aware that I basically flunked my first academy entrance exam?”

“More or less.”
>>
>>40790167
Yup, that's me. I was very glad you and Ghost liked it.

And it's done. I'll post it after >>40790259 is finished with his snippet.
>>
“I could manifest a familiar, but not much else. So I go home. Move on with my life.”

“I’m sorry.”

“It wasn’t that big a deal. I can’t say I really expected to get in. I only tried because Mom said that Grandma would have wanted me too.”

“ They are” “were” “were.. both witches? Or just your Grandmother?”

“Just my Grandmother.”

“Ah, so you were saying?”

“Well, after I got back home I just kinda forgot about it. Registered for university, spent time on the beach, watched the people.”

“Then you were asked to come back.”

“Yeah. That was when stuff started to get a bit weird. See, i didn’t get a letter, or a phone call. Somebody, a witch from Annapolis came to find me. And I mean she walked up to me when I was at the beach one day. Now people knew where to find me during the day, and the beaches at home are great, but a navy witch? And she said it was specifically to talk to me and another girl from a little farther north. She wanted us both to come back to the academy and take a new test. One with a mechanical portion. I basically said yes assuming I would just fail again, but why not? That’s when it got weird. She wanted me to leave the next day, to go on my own back to Annapolis while she went north to talk to the other girl. I had to push her to get a couple extra days to say goodbye to my friends, and it made her… unhappy.”

>What were the societal impacts of the Martian War, and what was the cultural impact of it?
How would humanity view aliens?
Would they be more hostile towards them?

By '89, the war is largely viewed like WW2 is today, where it's recognized as a huge turning point in human history, but it's largely in the past. The martian seabed colonies weren't discovered until the '50s, and at the time, the tech to go get them just wasn't there. (Calls to use pressure-hardened nuclear depth charges to destroy them were, perhaps wisely, ignored). Since then, Martians have become part of the world community, though rarely on an individual level. (Outside of Roswell, NM, and a few other isolated places, it's very rare to see a martian on dry land.) That said, martian technology was involved in the space race, with marstech ltd. assisting with many early spaceflight missions.

Culturally, the confirmed existence of aliens proved a HUGE boon to the sci-fi scene, and the war helped generate a huge amount of astronomers later on. this leads to the setting being about on par with our current understanding of the cosmos (considering that's almost a 30 year difference, that's not too bad). However, setting understanding of nuclear weapons and radiation isn't quite as advanced as a result. (Particle physics didn't take off post war like it did IRL)

As a whole, martians for most people are a case of out of sight, out of mind. while you do have some fringe groups that go one way or another, for the most part it's rarely something people devote any thought to.

“But you went.”

“ I went, and took the test. It actually went pretty well. Seemed to come naturally. So then the second thing happened. After the test, I get taken to see the matron in charge, Longstreet. She had my results, and personally gave them to me. And pushed. She seemed intent on getting me back into the academy. Like scary intent. By my guess, I think she had asked me to see her as soon as she saw my results… And that doesn’t surprise you.”

“I.. not really. You’ve met Merlin?”

“Yes. Adorable, really. Young though.”

“She was the first person found with a talent like yours. You’ve heard of what she and Frank can do?”

“Ye- wait. That test is looking for people like her. People who can use magic with machines to that unusual degree. But if they called people like me back then… she gave results like mine. A familiar, but seemingly no other talent.”

“That’s… exactly correct, actually. They are hunting for more machine talents, and people like you seem to have been where they started.”

Strike Witches Quest: so popular it is now a graffitti tag.
>>
“That makes sense, and relates to the third thing that struck me as off, mainly: why me? There is one witch in the family that I know about, my Grandmother. No affiliations at all with any covens, not even any family friends who were witches. Yet I was in what I figure was the first batch of people to take the new test? Why? To them I’m a nobody. Yet I take the test, get pressured back in, and then, surprise surprise, I get letters from covens asking me to join after I get out of the navy. I wasn’t even out of the academy! Rush job as it was, I got pushed into rio school right after. Did okay there. Wasn’t the best, but good. So we finish, do all the final testing stuff. Then comes the last thing before I come here.”

“Was it about your personal records, specifically how you rated in rio school?”

“Ye-yes. You knew.”

“When I got your file… I was suspicious. Yor score was near perfect. Specifically, slightly better than Merlin’s”

“This all comes back to her doesn’t it. Well obviously my scores were inflated. I noticed too but.. when I asked I got stonewalled. Hard. Nobody knew anything. Those numbers were correct regardless of what I thought. But I knew I didn’t do that well. I eventually got one of the instructors to tell me this: `Just accept it, ‘cause somebody is playing games above our heads`.”

“Well that’s about as suspicious as it comes.”

“Mhmm, and then I made the mistake.”

That's all i'll post for now. The other half will go up next week if people are interested.

Sounds almost like witches improved the world as a whole. As much as it makes sense it kind of sounds too good to be true. I mean I half expect that there was a movement or idea that witches were a special breed or race or something along those lines

Thanks, Ghost!

Now, what are some of the things our witches would like to do after the war is over?

Your take on Davis is provoking. I'll hold you to that promise next week, Anon.

And here's part 1 of Ice control.

Trust. The foundation of every relationship. Without trust, there was no going forward, because you were always looking over your shoulder, watching your back, not knowing you were walking towards the lip of a cliff.

At first she didn’t trust him. He came off as unreliable. Always throwing the book out the window and doing things his way. Complaining that she was always on his case, always breathing down his neck. When it was his fault that she needed to stay on top of him, the better to rein in his excesses and keep him out of trouble.

Patty said it right. Frank Bishop was a jerk.

But he was more than that. He was kind. Strong. He looked out for the entire squadron, herself included. She might be the brains of Spellcaster and Rachel the sinews that did the heavy lifting, but Frank was their heart and soul.

Tanana happened. “Shall defend,” he promised her. And he did. He took on an entire Soviet fighter regiment to defend witches, to defend them.

They thought he had died; the thought broke the squadron. Merlin was a wreck, Patty couldn’t stop crying and Nicole was only a little better off, Katya tried to drown her sorrows in a sea of Soviet blood, Rachel buried herself in work because someone had to hold Spellcaster together because… because she wasn’t in control of anything, not her squadron, not herself, not Frank.

She thought him lost forever. She thought herself lost without him.
>>
Second and last part of Ice control.

And then he came back alive and well and bearing gifts. The ghost of Christmas presents, indeed, because there was no better present than a bright future. It might be good to be loved, but it felt far better to love and be in love.

Crying atop the big stupid idiot, her big stupid idiot, she began to realize that she couldn’t control everything. Not the Soviets, not the girls, and certainly not Frank.

And that was fine. The key to a happy life is to accept you're never in control. You do what you can, do the best that you can, trust your friends and family to watch your back and handle the rest, and learn to endure and even enjoy the ups and downs and bumps of the wild emotional roller coaster ride that was life.

So she began to trust in Frank with things that were second nature to him, things he took upon himself as naturally as breathing and flying.

Guard witches. Rescue the innocent. Adopt orphans. Protect Spellcaster. Stand as her bogatyr, her paladin.

Be himself.

“You have control, Frank,” she nervously giggled as he began to truss her limbs together.

“I just love it when you let me wrap you up, Boss,” he chuckled with mock gravity and utmost devotion.

“You’re the boss of me tonight,” she reminded him. “Now shut me up.”

"Your wish is my command, Tabby..."

He already held her heart and soul. By entrusting her body in his hands, she made herself his. And it was right. With him she was safe. With him it was okay to be vulnerable and weak, a damsel in distress. Because he would always come to her rescue, a bishop in grey fiber-steel.

Because he loved her.

Done~ Hope you guys like it.

Tomorrow I should be able to finish the Kancolle joke story. Once I figure out how Pastebin works, I'll post the link.

So what's the story with the development of Striker Units? And were witches still cannoneers and broomstick-mounted scouts between the Napoleon Wars and WW1?

I missed the thread and it's strange for it to not hit autosage.....
>>
>>40790370
Did witches fight one another in the Korean/Vietnam wars? How about other dust ups like Indo-Pak and the Falklands, or do covens choose to sit shit out by mutual agreement?

I'd like to know their roles in the central American 'crisises' and Iran-iraq wars and all those 'minor' conflicts

Probably.

Of course. Zippo monitors instead used long amatures to dangle fire-talent witches near the shoreline.
