“Hyappo Rankan!” you shout, slinging an iron rod towards your opponent. It splits into numerous copies and peppers Apacci, with one embedding itself in her left shoulder. It draws no blood and doesn't cause pain, but it hinders her greatly on that side.

“Why you...” she growls, swinging one of her own blades to defend her left side from the attack she anticipates... only to find your image dissipating. You unexpectedly strike at her right side with Tenkotsuki's hilt, and feel it graze her ribs as she uses something that looks a hell of a lot like a flash step.

The sound it makes is different, but the effect is the same. “That nearly worked...” she admits, gathering a cero at the point of her left blade. “Too bad you underest...”

Her words are cut short as you pull on the reiatsu chain you wrapped around her left wrist before attacking from her right, dragging her into range of your sword strike.

“Kuyō Shibari!” you shout as you slam the spin of Tenkotsuki's blade across Apacci's chest, slamming her to the ground as the spell binds her there.

After the dust from the impact clears, you note Apacci's fur and antlers disappearing. “I give up.”

Apacci's eyes widen for a moment in surprise, before she sighs and brushes the comment off. “I was gonna try a surprise attack, you know.”

“I know,” you tell her. “And yet you didn't do it, because you've grown.”

“Thanks...” she mutters. “Just don't say that sorta shit in front of the stairmaster or buttlicker, okay?”

“Deal.”

You find that your duel has carried you a good distance from the tent, so you return with Apacci to find Halibel waiting vigilantly. Starrk, for his part, seems to have not fallen asleep yet.

“You lost, I take it?” Halibel inquires evenly. There's no accusation there, merely curiosity.

Apacci shrugs. “I couldn't really trap her blade. If I knew kidō maybe I'd have stood a better chance.”

“Maybe I can solve that issue,” you offer. “Tenkotsuki, any thoughts?”

“A few,” your sword replies thoughtfully. "We can work on it together when there is time to do so."

“Yeah, let's do it,” the girl replies calmly. Starrk then places his hand on the top of his partner's head, and the world explodes.

Or at least it feels like it does. The outburst of reiatsu is simply staggering, stronger even than Kenpachi. Possibly much stronger. His appearance changes a little as well, as fur trim appears around his outfit and a bony eyepatch covers the left side of his face. In his hands are a pair of old-fashioned matchlock handguns. Your first instinct tells you that they shoot cero.

“Los Lobos,” Starrk declares to nobody in particular, before opening fire.

You can tell immediately that Starrk is stringing you along. One big shot from the left and three from the right before he has to return each to its sheath? Come on. That's gotta be a setup of some sort.

Instead of falling for the bait you continue to dodge the blue ceros as quickly as Starrk can fire them, until he no doubt begins to sense his plan isn't working.

“You're not falling for it,” he observes over Lilynette's protests at having given away his trick.

You continue dodging the ceros as they begin to come much faster. “It wasn't hard to figure out that you were holding back. Still are, really.”

“Oh?” the gunman frowns at you as the barrage continues, raising his voice so he can be heard. “And you're one to talk about holding back?”

Starrk disappears, using that rapid movement technique Apacci employed earlier to close the distance. Instead of a gun he holds a blue sword in his left hand, the same hue as his ceros, which clashes against Tenkotsuki's blade in a powerful strike. Before you can properly counterattack his gun fires again, forcing your hand.

“Raikōhō!” you shout, countering the cero with a blast of similar power and giving yourself just enough of a window to throw a few more attacks Starrk's way. But to your side, you feel a second massive surge of reiatsu... this time from Halibel.

A torrent of water surrounds her before she cuts it away with a long, white blade that extends over her wrist: an Indian pata of unusual weight and size that closely resembles her arm blade from when she was a Vasto Lorde.

“Apologies for the interruption,” she bows slightly, “but at this rate I fear I would have to wait all day for my turn.”

“You're serious?” you mutter half to yourself, trying to decide whether or not to proceed the way things seem to be heading. Starrk is stronger than he's letting on, there's no doubt about that... and Halibel's no joke either. She may even be just as strong now as Starrk is, and between the two of them the amount of reiatsu they're releasing is almost crushingly powerful. Even most Captains would have trouble taking on one of them, if you're estimating their strength accurately.

But knowing about your hollowfication, and the truth behind your Bankai? You honestly don't know how that sort of battle would play out, and you're not sure any of the three of you can fully control the sort of power you'll be throwing around.

A sigh slips past your lips of its own accord. “Fine, I accept,” you tell Halibel and Starrk. “But make no mistake, this battle will be two against one.”

“The hell do you mean by that?” Lilynette demands loudly. “There's no way you could stand up to both Starrk AND Miss Halibel, what are you, crazy!?”

“Maybe,” you admit with a wry grin. “But you're wrong... there's a way. And it looks like this.”

Gathering reiatsu at the fingertips of your left hand, you're treated to the familiar yet still uncomfortable feeling of a hollow mask forming there, which completes itself as you swipe those fingertips downward towards your chin. Reiatsu courses through your veins as you tap into that primal wellspring of instinct and raw power... it feels almost intoxicating. You have to keep focused in order to not lose yourself in it.

“This won't be like anything you've ever seen,” you offer to your opponents in the doubled, resonant voice you share with Rosa. “Please don't let your guards down, not even for an instant... because I'm not sure how well I can control this ability.”

“Now, let's get started for real."
