The Galactic Patrolman hops down off his craft, a number of items in his hands. Bulma's parents seem to be the first ones to greet him, with Jaco doing a little introduction pose. You turn to Bulma and Tights, the both of them staring at Jaco, then back at Goku, in a panic.

"What do we do what do we do what do we do?!" the purple-haired young woman shouts in a panic. "If he sees Goku, he might-"

"Bulma, wait!" Tights grabs hold of her sister. "We... we just have to make sure he doesn't connect the two! Um..." She looks at the increasingly confused monkey boy. "G-Goku, would you mind keeping your tail hidden?"

"Huh? Why would I do that?" He scratches the top of his head, tail wagging behind him.

"Tights what if Jaco gets suspicious? Then he... look, we should hide Goku instead, at least until he's gone." Bulma suggests.

"Bulma no offense but that's a dumb plan." your brother tells her dryly. "Do you really think he'd sit still for long enough for such a thing?" As if on cue, Goku was walking on his hands towards the window, humming to himself. Acer rushes over and covers the window. Telepathically, he tells you, Bulma, and Tights, 'Maybe just try to convince Jaco that Goku is an Earthling?'

"It's the least I can do!" He poses, then spots Goku walking towards him. "Huh, don't believe I've met you before."

"Hi, my name's Goku!" the monkey boy tells him cheerfully. "You seem pretty strong, Mister."

"Ah, so you're the strange Earthling Bulma told me about." he comments, looking over Goku. "Interesting."

"Y-yeah... sure is something, huh Jaco?" Bulma tells him with a nervous grin.

"I must say, this planet surprises me more and more every time I visit." the alien comments. "I'd have to get it approved by HQ, but still, thank you, Maple."

"Not a problem." you say with an innocent grin. You take a moment to collect your thoughts. Okay. Keep this straightforward. Deep breath... "So... we are definitely sure that no evil Saiyans are on Earth right now."

Jaco looks at you curiously. "What do you mean by that?"

"Well... technically there IS a Saiyan on this planet. But as a Tuffle, I can personally vouch for him being a good person. A little... thick in the head sometimes, but nonetheless a good person."

The alien states at you blankly, silently, for about a minute. He then starts to connect the dots himself. "Then... then that means..." he looks to the other room, noticing Goku playing with your brother.

"As strange as it might sound, yes. Goku is a Saiyan. Not only that..." Your face gets a somewhat cheeky grin. "...I have bested Goku in combat. Even if he were to become a villain, rest assured that I'll stop him. Still... I believe that Goku is good, and will stay that way."

Jaco sits down. You then explain to him Goku being adopted by Gohan, your eventual meeting with the monkey boy, and how the two of you became friends. The alien rubs his chin. "Then... Tarble wasn't as much an anomaly as I thought..."

The second is apparently Saiyan royalty, Tarble, but oddly enough he seemed to be very gracious and hospitable when I encountered him. Believe it or not one of the local residents is even his girlfriend."

"...huh." you state blankly. "Was he... all that strong, or...?"

"Marginally more than the average Saiyan, but not much more than that, and lacked the fighting drive most Saiyans have. He was rather short for a Saiyan, too. Seemed strange. In any case we will be keeping an eye on him." Jaco stated with a nod.

You ponder on what this means. "How many other Saiyans are out there, you think?"

The alien shrugs. "Dozen, maybe? No idea, to be honest."

You then stand as tall as you can and look Jaco in the eyes. "So... are you still going to be hostile to the Saiyan here on Earth? Are you going to have any problems with Goku?"

Jaco eyes you suspiciously. "Most likely not. So long as you can assure me that you'll keep him under control. Why DO you care about him so much? I'm still trying to wrap my head around a Tuffle standing up for a Saiyan like this."

You telepathically tell Acer, Bulma, and Tights that everything is fine, and then have Jaco and Goku talk for a minute. Your brother pulls you aside and brings up the present Jaco gave you, on the aliens that the Galactic Patrol are aware of. A few catch your eye.

Well, one file immediately catches your interest. "Namekians." Looking at the description, they seem interesting. Once a space-faring race open to trade, their home planet was devastated by a terrible disaster in the recent past, with estimates of only about a hundred left there. The few that survived beyond their home are sparse and spread out throughout the galaxy, though one of them is a member of the Galactic Patrol. Jaco has been investigating a connection between them and the Dragon Balls, as there were rumors of "Namekian Wish Orbs" existing on their home planet and beyond. Interestingly, they only truly need water and sunlight to survive, but have a strange slug-like physiology, and can consume other materials if they lack either. They also have amazing regenerative abilities.

Next up are the "Martians," beings apparently named because they originate on a planet called Mars. Which... strikes you as odd, because Earth has a neighboring planet named that as well. Most odd of all, the Galactic King, Jaco's boss, is himself a Martian, though or a different subspecies. They are also squid-like in physiology, lacking bones and being supported by a strange combination of fluid sacks in their body.

The Saiyans and Earthlings you know about already, and the Tech-Techs are described as a race of beings with advanced technology, some working as engineers and scientists for the Galactic Patrol. There seems to be an odd divide between them, with one sub-faction of the race far more hostile to outsiders while the other is more approachable.

Lastly, you check for mentions of demons in the files, and while you don't find any reference to Prince Beelzebub, you do see one of an odd little troublemaker named Ackman, who was last seen in the vicinity of Earth, but hasn't been heard from in quite some time. Strange.

Checking if Jaco has spilled the beans to Goku yet, which he thankfully hasn't, you and your brother ask him about his own race. Jaco goes on a long-winded, prideful rant of his people and their position among the galaxy. They're apparently a very prideful race, but with some advances that are certainly worthy of being prideful for. They also have a very strict and powerful sense of duty and loyalty, and can be very protective of other races, even if they look down on them from time to time. In his explanation of their physiology, he explains how they rarely need to wear clothing, and they require the molecule lactose in the food and drink they consume, as he himself downs a glass of milk. Jaco also takes some time to add in a bit about his girlfriend there, and it's apparent that he can be... rather lovey-dovey about her.

Eventually the alien leaves, giving you all a farewell and saying that he'll be looking forward to meeting you all again in a few years. Goku then turns to you and says he'll be off training again, saying he'll try to meet Korin again and try to get as strong as the cat. Acer mentions that he'll be training with Launch and Yamcha some more, while you...

You smile at him and give him a hug. "You got it, brobro. Good luck." The two of you fly off in opposite directions, your brother heading down towards Kame House as you blitz towards Baba's Palace. The line outside only has a couple rich folks waiting, the sounds of a School of Martial artists inside. As you land, you notice something very familiar about the fighters there. They all wear white robes, save one of them, with a yellow one and... a large black afro?

"King Chappa?" you say with surprise.

"Maple Mahogany, it is good to see the World Martial Arts Champion again." he replies.

"Interesting..." He bows. "I thank you, Maple Mahogany. Good luck with your training."

"Good luck, King Chappa! Oh, and, feel, don't think. Some of these folks have some tricks up their sleeves." You float away from him and to where you can sense Baba is. You find the Fortuneteller reading something in her room, but aware of your approach.

"So... you're here again." Baba says, turning to you. "Are you sure you truly want to learn that technique?"

You take a deep breath. "I know I might not be ready for it just yet, but I definitely WILL learn it, one way or the other. Just... reign me in before I hurt myself, okay?" You give her a cheeky, innocent smile.

Baba chuckles heartily. "Fair enough, Maple."

"I'm not going to like... explode into a bunch of messy chunks if I screw this up completely, am I?" you ask as innocently as you can.

"I... have not forseen such a thing yet." she says noncommittally. "The first step will require intense concentration, knowing your own ki and your own mind, how to keep both tranquil. Start by meditating."

You do as she instructs, and meditate. For several hours a day through the next few weeks and even months, you keep up your meditation, remembering both what Baba and Gohan told you. A serene sense of self, tranquility, looking deep inside and truly understanding your own ki, your own mind. Thoughts of your friends come and go, and eventually you are able to, at least you think, reach deeper within yourself and seem to tap into reserves of energy that seem to be on standby. A fraction of your inner potential, you can tell, but the repeated meditation and focusing does raise your Power Level a bit. Now you're sitting at 1620.

Baba approaches you once you've figured this part out. "Now comes the truly difficult aspect... Maple, you must try to focus your ki into a surge of power while remaining tranquil. For a heartbeat. Let it come naturally. Do you feel that you are ready for this, or would you like to meditate more, until you truly think you have tapped into your spiritual reserves?"

"I'm gonna try it." Okay. Tranquil. Surge. You raise your ki to its limit, and then try to tap into reserves of it, hidden away, for a "heartbeat." You build up ki, a white aura surrounding you. For a moment, a tinge of... well, the best way to describe it is a tinge of "red" can be felt. But then your entire body starts to hurt. Pain courses through you.

"Maple, stop!" Baba shouts. Thankfully, you manage to before you seriously hurt yourself, but you still collapse on the ground, the pain still there. Baba floats over on her crystal ball, relieved to see that you haven't done any serious damage to yourself.

You spend a day resting, Spike visiting you and telling you that you're lucky that didn't go any worse than it did. The two of you talk for a while, Spike bringing up his Devilmite Beam. He explains that it's something he'd never be able to teach you, due to you not originating from the Demon Realm. After you've fully recovered, Baba insists you take more time meditating.

You repeat what you did for months prior again. Thoughts of your friends seem to come to you again, though they are... different. You see Acer, Launch, and Yamcha at Korin's Tower. You see Goku talking with Arale again, another boy with them both. You see Chi-chi arguing with a... roundish samurai boy with messy black hair that somehow reminds you of Krillin. You see Krillin himself stopping a pair of kids from falling off a cliff, a boy with black hair and a girl with blonde hair. You see Bulma hitting Roshi in the head with a mallet. Heh. What's more, you feel like you've tapped into more of these strange reserves of ki. Your Power Level is now up to 1690. Baba approaches you again after you accomplish this.

"It... may be easier now. But are you sure you want to go through with this?"

"Well done, Maple!" you hear a completely new voice congratulate you. "I never thought anyone would learn that technique on their own like that, but you've surprised me."

My bad, I thought the Yardrats made both. Well that's another species that could be strong enough to benefit from King Kai's training. I remember Goku saying that weren't too strong on their own but pretty beastly when fused (compared to him that's saying something). And the Yardrats were described by him to have just as big of an appetite as his (and in shounens big appetite = strength). I think there was a video game where Goku fights a Yardrat that was stronger than Frieza.
