>You are a villager girl named Ellen from a small village in the nation of Neir, on the continent of Teege. As a member of the local militia/guard, you were trained in swordplay.

>You have agreed to fight alongside Garrus, prince of this nation, in order to finally eradicate the Johalva bandits who destroyed your home and killed most of its people.

>The questmasters are Octoling (myself), and Grandflaw. There's no particular rhyme or reason to who posts when.

>Character Death is always a possibility (this is Fire Emblem after all), but your actions can very easily influence who lives and who dies.

>Voting periods will last an average of fifteen minutes, but this may be increased, decreased, or generally changed based on voter turnout.

Whoop, forgot the title. It's Fire Emblem Quest #3.
>>
Thread dead?

Since waking up to news of Lambert's passing, the morning was a blur to you. You were on some sort of mental auto-pilot, not really acknowledging anyone else's attempts to console or even talk to you. You simply outfitted yourself, replacing your lost Bronze Sword with a piece of Iron, awaiting the moment when it was time to fight.

The valley of Tarvos holds the hidden hideout of the Johalva bandits. While appearing to be little more than plain, unassuming fields of green, a lone fortress, an ill-equipped outpost forsaken years ago, houses some of the region's most dangerous bandits.

Any significant reinforcements are not expected (with the sole exception of the pegasus-mounted woman who delivered this message, apparently named Cheryl), and the Johalva are known to have dozens of unsavory warriors among their ranks.

Reclaiming the outpost will not be easy, but Yvette and Garrus are entrusting you to be a part of it.

>A. Ellen is to be part of the forces leading the assault on the outpost

>B. Ellen is to stay back, for the most part, choking the edge of the future battlefield, watching for stragglers and being ready to close in on the outpost should it be necessary

>C. Write-in?

Option B.

While attacking the outpost is sure to win glory for the attackers if they succeed, it is a risky move to attack a force within their own stronghold. With Ellen's skill of arms, and hopefully decent speed, she can cut down any stragglers before they can get help.

You're set to be one of the first inside the outpost. The hooded archer (whose name you still haven't caught), Garrus himself, Robert, Jay, and Cheryl, the pegasus knight who just showed up, are also set to do so. The rest of the team is sticking behind, mainly focusing on picking off stragglers. Will you speak to any of your current companions as you advance towards the outpost?

You don't speak to anyone, and they return the favor. After a certain point, Garrus speaks to the hooded figure.

"A-alright, Mitchell, you know what to do from here."

The archer-Mitchell, that was his name-nods politely and makes himself scarce. You recall something about him being a thief or an outlaw or something before joining up with Garrus' personal guard. A friend of his is apparently the informant within the Johalva, and he should also be able to unlock any entrance to the building.

>A. Ask someone who this informant is.

You finally approach someone to speak shortly after Mitchell leaves. Namely, you speak to Garrus, the single likeliest to know what you need to find out.

He smiles a bit, glad you're already speaking to people again, and responds fairly calmly to your inquiry as to who this informant you kept hearing about is.

"Mitchell says he's... very much afraid to give away his identity, in case the bandits find out he's been... telling people what they're planning. Just that he and Mitchell have been close friends for awhile, and that he didn't want to break his trust while he was still working under duress."

And all this time I thought he was talking about our childhood friend's father, who was the town guard captain. Unless I'm mistaken about everything.
>>
>>41249303
He was your age, and the son of the current captain of the local guard (he's most likely dead too, if it wasn't clear. Unless we see literally any reason to use him again).
Both of you partially learned how to use swords from the previous captain of the guard, Gorman, long before he skipped town. Possibly before he even became village guard.
>>

Whatever. They killed our best friend. Maybe father figure and.. other people and almost raped us.

Really it's all legitimate bandit hate.

"How can we trust the word of this guy, then? After what the Johalva did to my hometown, can anything one of them says be taken with good faith either?"

"Well, neither of them have been wrong before!" Cheryl pipes in, unexpectedly cheerful.

"They sure didn't speak up in time for you guys to stop them from destroying Orsin!" Robert angrily chimes in, probably a bit louder than we ought to, "Ellen's right, either of these guys could be up to no good!"

Garrus sighs, "information doesn't always travel as fast as it needs to. There's... really nothing more we can do besides do what we came here to do."

Robert spits out his next phrase with contempt, "and let them wipe us all out because we trusted some criminal scum?"

>A. Agree with Garrus

You realize too late you've opened a can of worms you probably shouldn't have touched, and opt to leave any further thoughts on the issue on the shelf. There really isn't much to gain from bailing now.

Next order of business: quieting down the screaming fighter before you. You tell him his volume is going to attract the bandits right to your party.

"Oh, you mean the ones who already know we're here because this buffoon-"

Jay slaps his friend on the back of the head, hard enough to knock him to the ground without really looking like he put much effort into it.

Robert grumbles, rubbing his head and looking into Jay's eyes. The silent fighter simply grunts, and Robert nods in understanding."Urgh... I get what you're saying, Jay. Even if this is a trap, if we run off now, there'll just be less of us around for bandits to gang up on."

After everyone calms down, an arrow flies nearby. Upon landing in the ground, a blue piece of fabric is seen wrapped around it. A sign discussed earlier that it's okay to move in.

You're one of the first to rush towards the outpost after the signal is given, though Cheryl and her pegasus ultimately beat you there anyway, taking to the skies with a smile on her face, wind blowing through her short hair as she flies around the roof. You hear the sounds of frustrated bandits missing her as you head inside.

The outpost itself is somewhat dim and claustrophobic-feeling, and you are immediately greeted by a nasty-looking fellow with an axe coming at you in the... would lobby be the right word?

You can make out a few doors right nearby and a hallway behind him.

It may not be easy, but we have the Weapon Triangle Advantage! He has -10 to hit us. Plus, we've gotta have some speed on him, right?

You wait for him to strike, then dodge as he gets closer. His weapon grazes your armor, but it still feels far from pleasant. Regardless, he's slow enough on the rebound that two strikes from your sword cut him down.

You turn around right on time to see Jay take down someone who ran up from a path to the side, followed by Robert and Garrus pouring in.

>A. Thank him

You don't know how Fire Emblem works, do you? There's no better way to become close to somebody than by fighting alongside them! You support each other and grow closer through those bonds!

>B. Look for a way upstairs to support Cheryl

>>
>>41250653
Yeah, anime bullshit is deeply ingrained in Fire Emblem and we love it for it.

To a certain extent, anyway.
>>
>>41250594

>C. Look for Mitchell.

He's an archer, and can't necessarily defend himself in these close quarters. Besides, if you really aren't sure whether to trust him or not, you should stick close to make sure he doesn't get into trouble.
>>
>>41250694
Well then we should buddy up with Robert. He's the only one who understands that bandits are shit.
>>
>>41250694
Damnit and i thought this wasn't going to be one of those quests, I hate the friendship conquers all shit
>>
>>41250653
If you're so opposed to one of the key components of the game, integral to every iteration over the last twelve years, then stop playing. You're the one who doesn't like friendship animes, so why play a game that seems like one?
>>
>>41250738

Then go back to your Space Ork figurines and cry about how not everyone else loves your butthurt GrimDerp edgy fantasy.
>>
>>41250594
C. The guy's an Archer, so I imagine he could use some form of support.
>>
>>41250738
I never said it would be ALL about the power of friendship, but "friends and allies bonding and supporting each other in battle" is a literal game mechanic that's existed for most of the series in various forms, and it's only right that that's portrayed.
>>
>>41250714
>>41250783
You keep an eye out for Mitchell in particular as you and the others search the outpost for bandits. One or two attack you as you search, but they go down relatively easily.

After felling one of the brigands, you hear a cowardly whimpering through a broken door. Peering inside, you can't see anyone, but it appears to be some sort of barracks.

The noise is definitely coming from within the room.

You enter the room, pretty quickly discovering the source of the sound.

It's a red-clad, short-haired young man, a sleek-looking sword nearby him.

You piece his scared sounds to that of Stefyn, the man who you last saw Lambert fighting. After that, the next time you saw him he was dying.

It's gotta be him.

He sees you and immediately stands up, drawing his weapon and pointing it at you after registering that you are not a bandit.

"D-don't come any closer!"

He's scared for his life, and pointing a sword at you. Attacking him is not the best option here. Besides, like you said... he killed Lambert, imagine what he could do to you.
>>
>>41251399
Yeah probably killed Lambert with the help of those other guys
>>
>>41251153
>>41251330
Immediately, you're filled with that same flurry of emotions experienced as you lost one of the people closest to you.

Terrified or not, this coward is the one who killed Lambert, you're certain.

And since you were here to wipe out the bandits anyway, you have no reason not to do what you're about to do.

You rush forward, swinging your sword, and he jumps to the side and strikes you in return.

It hurts a lot, and you recall stories you and Lambert heard from your mentor, Gorman, about Killing Edges, how they're designed to make critical strikes.

Stefyn looks horrified at how well the blade connects, and you feel as though you don't want to look at whatever he's done.

Vengeance will need to wait. For now, you need to try to retreat. You turn tail and run, quite literally bumping into Mitchell on the way out the door. You fall to the ground and make a pained noise.

He simply turns towards Stefyn and harshly whispers, "Stef, man, what did you DO? I thought you said you wouldn't really kill anyone, and here a villager's bleeding out in front of you!"

He stammers apologetically, "I-I was attacked! She was trying to kill ME, Mitch!"

There's really not much else you can do here, so you just sort of duck out and try to regroup with the others, leaving Mitchell to talk to this guy.

After a few rooms' worth of cleaned-out treasure chests and fighting through a few more bandits, you make your way to the rooftops of the Outpost. Besides Mitchell, everyone else is up there. Cheryl is still excitedly swerving around trying to spear brigands, Robert and Jay are back-to-back, and Garrus is staring down the man you recognize as the Johalva's apparent leader.

In the distance you can see Yvette, Biff (with Natalie behind him. He seems the type to need healing the most), Byron, and the long-braided-hair fellow with the bow on their horses, attacking any bandits trying to get through into the outpost as reinforcements.

Two brigands approach you as you step into the action.

You thank Cheryl and start towards prince Garrus. His chest is puffed out, and he's faux-deepening his voice, holding his regal-looking axe up high.

"Tabat, leader of the Johalva bandits... Your days as... Your days terrorizing Tarvos valley, a-and the Johan region as a whole, are over! In-in-in the name of da-er, in the name of King Drasma, I will punish you!"

Tabat laughs. "I've been around the block, princey, and your little manly-man show doesn't impress me. You think a berserker such as myself would fall to a spineless royal brat and his entourage?"

But make sure that he finishes Tabat himself. The boy needs some confidence.

Found another pic, Ellen maybe in higher tier armor carrying Garrus's banner?

Could work, though she would presumably be a hero-class after promotion. The only phyiscal trait about her that's explicitly implied is that she's at least a little bit taller than average, but I honestly rather like the "tanned" thing one anon suggested.
>>
>>41253301

After she's promoted from Villager up through to Hero? Heck yes.
>>
>>41253301
I like it
>>41253327
Eh if you imagine her tanned then it fits pretty well, I say go for this one mate
>>

Sounds like a plan, honestly.
What's the source on that, out of curiosity?

If she was a villager, then it's likely she did some kind of work outside, and thus would have somewhat tan/bronze skin to begin with from being a worker. Her hair would be lighter as well... not necessarily blond, but notably bright.

Also, possibly freckles.

Garrus is having difficulty being bold, even moreso with the paladin who typically speaks in his place being off fighting relatively far from him. You stand by your liege, sword drawn, and stare at Tabat intensely.

Again, he doesn't take your presence seriously.

"I remember you jobbing pretty bad back in Orsin... Gotta say, I'm impressed you decided to deliver yourself to me anyway."

Garrus looks at you. "Ellen, this guy's really tough. Are you sure we can-"

>A. Absolutely.
>B. Not at all. Let's do it anyway!

"Yes, we can and we will!"

Your conviction seems to rub off on Garrus, who responds with a simple nod as you leap towards Tabat.

He manages to parry your blow with his own axe, but Garrus is quick to swing at the berserker from the other side with the Regal Axe.

He dodges backwards and laughs, readying his axe for another swing.

>A. Dodge it!
>B. Keep attacking! Back him towards the edge of the roof!

You and Garrus dodge out of the way of Tabat's swing, and you quickly swing the blunt end of your sword at his feet. You briefly considered simply stabbing him, but figure that might be too predictable.

Your unusual choice pays off. Though it doesn't knock him down outright, Tabat does stumble a decent bit as he tries to catch his footing, creating the perfect opening for Garrus to bring down his own axe.

The instant it connects, Tabat knows his minutes are numbered.

He wheezes out, "I always knew this moment would come in the end, but... But for it to happen against some refugees and a crybaby prince..."

>A. Finish him off.
>B. Leave him. He'll be dead any second.

You cut Tabat down, and the few Johalva who remain are quickly felled.

Outside of the Outpost, you and the others meet up with Natalie and the horse-riders who were along the perimeter.

"Father is going to be pleased to hear that our tribe is rid of a notorious lot of bandits," the bandanna-wearing fellow says, before turning towards Yvette, "permission to tell them?"

Yvette simply responds, "granted, Quidel." He grins and rides off, and she goes about asking if the prince was hurt at all and whatnot (no, he assures her. He has Ellen to thank for that).

Biff is smiling as well, "I have never felt so powerful after a job well-done!"

Byron responds, "you've never needed to have a healer constantly on your back either."

Natalie, neutral-looking as ever, walks towards Garrus' party and looks to see if any of them were hurt and require healing.

After awhile of this, Mitchell approaches alongside Stefyn. Natalie backs away, and at first, you can do nothing but stare in contempt.

You know there's nothing you should say at the moment, but you make sure to give Stefyn a look of utter contempt as Mitchell explains that he's convinced him to join him in Garrus' personal guard, if they would have him.

Robert and Yvette both voice their suspicion at this, Biff his delight at such an "established archetype" joining the team, and Garrus that yes, he would have him.

Later that night, Garrus asks you, Robert, Jay, the Town Drunk (whose name you still haven't gotten around to learning. Apparently he was tasked with keeping any and all survivors safe from raids on the camp while the guard was off fighting bandits), and Natalie if you would like to officially join up with his crew.

Robert raises some concerns (and his voice, to an uncomfortable extent), but they are mostly assuaged, and all of you agree to at least consider it for the time being.

You have some time to get to know people before you get to the royal castle in Rakche, though.

thanks for following along, follow @qmgrandflocto on twitter for updates

Will stick around until I get too tired for questions/comments/concerns

Grandflaw's still sick, and that's why he hasn't really been active since the first thread

Thanks for runnin! So >>41253301 is what we look like, But with some breasts actually? Also may want to set up what we look like in the pastebin

Jury's still out on Ellen's bustiness, and it's probably a ways before she looks like some sort of badass like in that picture. "Tall, some sort of light hair, and tanned to a degree" seem to be the established physical characteristics so far though.
She's still a relatively-inexperienced mercenary-class whose low bases are only really offset by her sword skills. She is starting to hit some of those vague but impressive growths, though.
>>
>>41254699
Just saying that you'll probably want to get what we look like down soon is all, It'll be a real problem later on if ya don't, Anyways i'm guessing 6'2" medium tan well toned body slight muscles and short white hair(It's Fire emblem it's not to uncommon) aqua eyes and a slightly rough face?
>>
>>41254746
Sounds pretty good. Some of the finer details might be subject to change, but it's a good frame of reference.

Yup, Just glad i could help, Might wanna put it down in the pastebin before ya head off, Anyways i gotta get up early so i'm off, Seeya next time hopefully!

Next thread's probably gonna mostly be support conversation-equivalents with various characters as they head towards the nation's capital. All of the current characters should be available to at least start bonding with. Even if some of them aren't necessarily going to be ready for outright supporting (it should be obvious who in particular), but groundwork can be laid down.
>>
>>41254699

She's a trainee-class that promotes into Mercenary, and possibly Myrmidon, if we're going by FE8 Trainee class rules, and branching promotions.
>>
>>41255020
I feel like she's already somewhat close to trainee promotion from her actions in this chapter alone, then.
