Brakla’s Obituary, as written by the Oh-Shamed One:
http://pastebin.com/SJpctVij

Hello and welcome back to the Minotaur Civilization Quest!

Last thread was rather interesting, seeing as how:

>A) Established a colony in the far of region of (yet to be named), a place of vast stretches of savannah and the occasional tree. We soon met the natives of that land, and attempted to diplomacy them.

>B) Subsequently failed to diplomacy, leading to C.

>C) Brakla died by way of gratuitous amounts of spears to the chest.

>D) Following this, we enslaved the local tribe after scaring the ever-living shit out of them.
Right, let’s get this started, shall we?

>E) Did other shit I can't remember right now!

A letter has arrived in the capital!

To the High King Brakla

Greetings once again my king! I bring news of the world, or at least what I could find of it. The world seems much bigger than initially thought, or at least by me, and by my estimates we’ve only mapped out a tenth of the world’s area. Though this would require certainly more time.

Anyhow, attached is a map that I managed to draw out, so forgive me if it is less than adequate. There should be a messenger in Gorric who is able to tell you what each of the different colors and lines mean, seeing as how I forgot to put in a key.

Sincerely, Captain Briggs.

>to kill someone unarmed is equally shameful

>all trials are by combat, champions may not be elected. You must stand for yourself.

William has been surprisingly calm during the past few days, considering how his close friend and ally died by way of pointy stick through chest-itis. This could be due to his complete lack of knowledge about what went on besides that, and no one who witnessed it seems eager to tell him. Nevertheless, Queen Catherine requested that he go and muck about in the newly discovered lands, hopefully making allies or trading partners. Throwing darts at the map, he found that most of his shots landed on the giant island to the southwest, marked "Amazon."

>"Rright, t'is'll get mah mind offa him."

Packing his gear and Sophie aboard a ship, William set out for this strange new land.

Stress can get to anyone. Everyone has bad days, but most people don't have bad days where your husband is killed in a far off land for doing sweet F-A. Most people don't watch as their own sacred laws are broken by someone they dubbed a "savior." Most people still have someone to love in this world.

Catherine's lost her sense of morality, and she now seeks to make her realm one which would make her husband proud, and prepare it for Cordy.

On a frigid night, deep in the Royal Palace, Catherine sits upon the throne. Though far too big for a person her size, her presence easily fills it. The arched-door cracks a bit.

>"My Queen?"

The tauren guard who informed her of her beloved's death appears in the light. She motions for him to come in, and he appears to be holding a small stone tablet.

>"The...Royal Guardsmen held a small contest to write an Obituary for the King, and we would like you to read it."

He kneels before her, extending the stone plate from his hand. She gets up and snatches it, giving it a quick read. Then another, and another, and another.

>"My Queen?"

Catherine just now notices the tears streaming down her face, and nods for the guard to leave.

>"Would Brakla want this...?"

She begins weeping softly to herself, simply wishing for her husband to return. Later that night, as she checks in on Corby and her plants, she retires to her chambers, cheeks stained a bit red.

>Catherine is no longer insane!

While out at sea, William found it boring to stare at the unending sea when he wasn't chasing after Sophie and that boy. Granted, a ship only has so much space, but they could have at least stocked more of Alagar's Punch aboard. Staring up at the night sky, he notices how those bright lights in the sky move every so often, and are often in a different position each night. He makes a small chart, something to take his mind off of the normal routine, and creates a way of tracking time!

Some of the citizens of the colony have shown some...moral concerns about the treatment of the slaves. Are they not stooping to the level of their ancient foe the Snow Elves? Are they not doing the exact thing they fought against? Some view it as a crime against their citizens, and set about "liberating" them.

Of course, by liberation I mean execution, as no one deserves the humiliation of a life in the cold chains. The people, you never learned their name, simply stare blankly as their friends and family are killed before their eyes. With each slice of a blade, the words "I am sorry." were heard. At the end of the night, the deed was done. The bodies were buried, and the surrounding area covered with grass and the like.

Some of the more adventurous settlers decide to head out and establish an outpost to trade with future settlements and nearby neighbors. Unfortunately, they settled right over the burned out ruins of the previous village. The whole place seemed...uncanny. Like there was constantly someone watching them, though anyone who was there turned out to be shadows.

News of this outpost arrived back in camp, and many saw this as a front for the slaves, who were presumed to have escaped, to live. The building, surrounding area, and minotaurs, did not survive the torch.

With the recent debacle in the colony, the more intelligent and wise of the Minotaurs added a new wing to the U.N. building, made specifically to research other races so as to prevent other instances of this genocide from happening again. Well, at least for the good people. Unfortunately, the reason why this was made is soon leaked to the public, and leads to a few, to put it mildly, demonstrations against Tsunami for what he has done

Carts, while useful, do have their limitations. Rocky terrain breaks the wheels, tauren drivers wear out after so many kilometers, and the idea of having a machine of sorts to do it is very attractive. It would require a beast with preferrably four legs, with some kind of hard material at the bottom to easily withstand rough terrain. Unfortunately, the only suitable source for a "Drawn Carriage" is the mini-colossi, and they stumble over even the smallest of pebbles. To be fair, it is quite hilarious to watch them struggle.

On the mainland, totems and the like are seen as good luck charms, so it comes as a surprise that, late one night, a creative tauren man is busy making some. His mate stands in the doorway, watching as he etches out a small rune in a block of Cuth wood. She is about to say something about him not getting enough sleep, but is overcome by a sudden wave of lust and desire, as is her husband.

The next morning, stirring from a wonderful sleep, the man sets back to work and is able to carve another block. This time, it allows him to masquerade as someone entirely different for roughly an hour's worth of time, though it is discovered they must be of the same gender. Finally, almost out of ideas, he begins drawing/carving random lines and is soon overcome by a feeling of nausea and panic. Looking behind him, he sees the twisted ghastly form of a Minotaur standing besides his mate, staring right at him. He soon smashes the totem and marks out the rune.

A young human had just arrived in Drozen, along with his brother. Their experience in dealing with plumbing, sanitation, and pest control were renowned in the Highlands, and they sought their fortune in the Minotaur lands, seeing as how humans were "too easy." Upon entrance, they were utterly disgusted. Waste lied in the streets, in some places knee-high, and yellow snow could be seen at every street corner. Upon entrance into the first building, the smell, oh god the smell, was what drove them out.

They persisted, going house by house to install modern plumbing and sanitation techniques. Eventually, they looked back on their month's worth of work. Disease was far less common, as were insects. You could walk five feet without stepping in shit, and the same with yellow snow. When a young boy asked what the man's name was, he knelt down to the child, taking off his signature red cap and saying:

Hodn had always dreamed of a weapon that could crush his enemies. He had joined the engineering portion of the guard to do just that. So, while on watch in the early night, he "borrowed" a few of the more explosive pieces of equipment in the armory. With that, he stole away to the walls.

While constructing his masterpiece, he accidentally lit the spark on a trail of gunpowder a bit too early. Realizing his mistake he desperately tried to stomp it out. All he did was send sparks flying everywhere, igniting the various barrels and blowing a massive hole in himself, the wall, and a decent chunk of the village.

After burning Hodn's remains on a shameful pyre, the village survivors set to work rebuilding their only means of defense against the Fungal hordes. They worked frantically through the wee hours of the morning, and saw to it that anything remotely resembling a fungal was destroyed on site. Fortunately for them (and you) it was soon done and over with. A new death rune was carved, and the village rested, uneasy and unsure about what to do.

Cuth's streets, after being cleaned of various body parts, building materials, and the like, are noted to be absurdly complex. The average human has trouble walking through without getting lost, though the tauren find the labyrinth structure homely. The Dwarves aren't much better, and as such hide in their own mess of tunnels. This would change soon.

Milomir laid out a plan for an ideally defended city, with straight streets, a single entrance, a bloody well massive sea wall, and zones for specific buildings. At the end of it all, the village looks more like an army camp. This leads to a much easier time walking around, though most tauren are horribly disoriented when it is completed.

The idea of creating some form of "moving picture" to entertain and inform the masses is a novel concept. Unfortunately, you

>A) Lack the technology to do so

and

>B) The guy who came up with this is the Minotaur version of M. Night. Shamalamallama.

The end result of the numerous catastrophic failures is several burned buildings, bodies, and 100 dead tauren, most of them children.

While the man who came up with drawn carts was mucking about with possible ways to power his invention, he had an idea. Why not go out into the tundra to have a look and see if there is a creature out there would work. His head was delivered, still dripping blood, by a White Beast in the dead of night.

An entrepenurial tauren sets up a small stall in the city center. He trades for various goods, some valuable, others worthless. At the end of the day, he has enough money in copper coins to pay someone to set up another stall. Then another, and another, and another. Eventually, he has taken over much of the market, with his stalls being present on almost all street corners. His wages, while low, are livable, and help to stimulate the economy towards a more competitive way of working.

Word of the tauren man's Spirit Rune invention intrigues many of the people in the city. Particularly the elderly and the young, some wish to speak with their deceased loved ones, others...Well, teenage hormones are a hell of a thing. Late at night, a teenage tauren etches the rune in his wall, and finds that the ghostly form of a young human woman appears behind him. Following a short discussion, they soon get to it.

In the other room, the boy's father is having quite an intelligent discussion with a deceased tauren about the Land of the Dead. Most of those who die end up there, and Lady Death rules over all in that realm. The undead are viewed as abhorrent abominations, and are destroyed on sight. The ghost mentions how the totems and runes tend to lead to much more death in their area, but this is dismissed by the elderly man falling asleep.

The recent reorganization of the Army made of few of the Navy boys jealous. So jealous in fact, they made a BFG, a big fucking gun, to compensate for it. Upon firing for the first time, the ship is nearly torn apart by the sheer blast force. Fortunately for all those aboard, it soon bobbed back with no major damage. Of course, the Army soon made their own. This led to all Navy ships (or at least those that could support them) were outfitted with these massive bombards. Nothing short of a mountain is tanking this kind of cannon ball, and you can actually launch people out! While passing through some Dwarven tunnels, a tauren miner "accidentally" drops a lust totem in the middle of a large gathering of dwarves. Unfortunately for the several human and tauren women in the crowd, it is discovered that Dwarf sperm is highly acidic, though the Dwarven women seem to be highly resistant to this.

Following this, a it becomes a common practice for tauren women to dare each other to have a go with a dwarf. The end result is several ruined reproductive systems and many happy Dwarves.

The river lands around Cuth have massive bounties. Be they fish, plants, shells or, sand. But this strange, reddish-brown gunk that sticks to everything is rather annoying. However, if left out to dry for a few hours, it hardens into a fine block, and is easily stackable with others of its kind. On top of this, small pits of the material, now called clay, are able to be dug up almost anywhere along the river bank.

>64: HOT DAMN LUCKY NUMBERS!

After a rather painful experience with a Dwarven man, a tauren woman heads down into the labyrinth tunnels to have a word with him. Tunnels is a bad way to put it, it's more of a fortress. A Dwarf Fortress. Finding her way through, she happens upon a small chamber, in which there is a small horde of the Acid Lizards, as well as a tank of what can be identified as Dwarf spunk. She is able to smuggle the tank out by way of *redacted*, and begins experimenting on how to neutralize it's effects. After some failures (and burned hands and tongue), she finds that mixing cold alcohol with the liquid completely eliminates the acidity. She tests this on a drunken dwarf, and when he finishes she finds that her innards are no longer burning!

Still rubbing her temples, the woman marches past him, grabbing his pack on the way.

>"I'm destroying this, no Amazon will be brought down like that again."

Dropping the bag, she grabs a nearby warhammer that had been placed on a wall mantle and brings it down, shattering the hard wood and sending a blinding light up, then disappearing. She motions for him to follow as she opens to palace doors. Guards stream in, weapons drawn and all focused right on William. She begins walking out, seemingly heading for the city gates.

William hurries up to her, with Sophie following close behind. She seems a bit scared, and is mumbling to herself in what sounds like Snow Elf. The Queen is staring straight ahead, keeping up a brisk pace and ignoring the stares of the citizens.

>"So, uh, 'bout t'at Alliance..."

He is, once again, cut off by the Queen.

>"Tell me, did you plan that? Bring the Queen to her knees and have your way with her, only to have second thoughts at the last moment?"

The Amazon stops dead in her tracks, and turns around glacially towards him. She closes the distance in a fraction of a second, and picks him up by the neck, almost crushing his windpipe.

>"If you don't stop talking in that stupid accent I swear to Goddess above I will break your skull on the street."

Her iron grip is almost enough to break a few vertebrae, and she continued.

>"I am an AMAZON! I don't need you to help me up, but you will."

She drops him, coughing as he struggles to breathe.

>"Now I'll ask again, did you plan that?"

An idea begins to form in William's head of how to get petty revenge on these stuck up cunts, though he'd rather keep it to himself while he works out the details. Black swirls are visibly forming in his eyes, though no one is close enough to see them. This plan involves, currently, drawing a giant middle finger in the sky with various planes, making as loud a racket as possible along the shoreline, and generally be a massive prick.

While this plan was formulating, he and the Queen soon found themselves out in the countryside, completely alone. This came as a surprise, considering how this went down roughly half an hour ago. The Amazon is completely silent, while Sophie is still chattering to herself.

>94: Amazing success!

Trying to walk and listen to Sophie at the same time, William finds it surprisingly easy to understand her fast talking.

>"Big woman, shiny armor, pluck ears, hurt, like Drow, hurt, hurt, nononononononononononono, hurt nono, nononononononono"

The last bit seemed to go on for some time, then she began to repeat herself. Looking back up to the Amazon, whose name he still doesn't know, he is more than a bit aggrevated.

>"Yer Majesty, would you be so kind as tah tell me why you 'aven't talked in o'er 'alf a fookin' hour?"

>"Nothing to talk about"

She says this quickly, almost as though she had memorized it. The Highlander's hands clenched into fists, then he spoke.

>"Oh? T'en woul' you explain wah me daugh'er's gibberring like a madman in Elvish about someone 'urting her?"

The woman pauses for a moment, visibly shocked, then replies.

The loud clank of boots comes to an abrupt stop, followed by a sharp turn around.

She is stopped by the sight of eyes as black as the night. William's words come out of an evil, devilish smile. His accent is completely guy

Beads of sweat drip from the Amazon's brow, and though she tries to hide it, her eyes are a dead giveaway of one primal emotion.

He scoffs a bit, then continues.

The Amazon curses under her breath, muttering something about some Goddess.

She pauses for a moment, visibly uncomfortable, then resumes.

>"To take a woman's, what is it you call it, virginity?, so as to take away one of the few weaknesses they have. I believe that my guards may have attempted to do just that, and I can assure you I had no part in it."

To say William is angry is like saying the United States is only slightly overweight. He hides it well though, and extends his hand.

>"Why thank you for being being truthful your Majesty."

When the Queen accepts, she is met with almost a complete loss of feeling in her hand, lower arm, and the color draining from her face.

>"NO ONE WILL RAPE MY DAUGHTER YOU GIGANTIC WHORE, I WILL SEE YOUR ENTIRE RACE OF PEDOPHILES HANGED ON THEIR NECKS FOR THIS. I HAVE BEEN SLAVE TO ELF'S AND ESCAPED, FOUGHT MUTANT HORRORS AND SURVIVED BUT NEVER HAVE I BEEN SO ANGRY AS I AM RIGHT NOW AT THIS MOMENT!"

The Amazon's hand spasms wildly, with her desperately trying to fight this inhuman strength. She manages to pull a finger off, but then feels a shooting pain as her fingers are crushed beneath it. He lets out a slight exhale, trying to keep from traumatizing Sophie more than she already is.

>"Very well, we'll see this oracle, then you're going to find me this guard, and I'm going to force one of -our- customs on her since that seems to be what she likes."

Queen's hand still locked, he kneels down to her and says:

She doesn't seem eager to stick around, and takes off like a bullet. The tint of blue is gone now, and now he looks down to the Queen.

>"On you feet, whore."

He yanks her up, dirtying her armor and giving her a knock upside the head in the process.

>"Which way is the Oracle?"

The Queen points towards the twin mountains, or to be more specific, the forested foothills just outside.

>"Good, now you are going to take me there, and I am going to try and remain diplomatic about this."

She simply glares at Him, and treks with him through the dark forest. There were no sounds, no creatures, nothing. Just pure silence.

Eventually the two arrived at a small, humble wooden hut. It had a few windows, but it was too dark to see inside.

>"She's in here."

She opens the door, and inside is a small fire pit, with a pot hanging over it and giving a delicious smell to the room.

She takes a deep breath and continues.

>"He, he presented a totem, at my request, for a trade deal. He called it a Lust Totem, and it caused me great amounts of pain, among other things."

She glares back at the pitch black eyes of Him, then motions for the Oracle to look. Her grey strands of hair go a little bit whiter, but she motions for her to continue.

>"After I destroyed the totem, we proceeded outside. I had the intention of visiting you to advise me, but we were interrupted by his...By one of my royal guards performing the Taking."

She stands, trying to avoid looking at Him.

>"I have come for you to tell me what to do, and who is right."

The Oracle thinks for a moment, brow furrowed.

This comes just as Eltas was about to land a hit on His nose. It's lowered forcefully by William, then he continues.

>"I would like justice for my daughter, and actual diplomacy, rather than having to let my friends have a go at your island's defenses."

The Oracle, face shrouded by her dark brown hood, sits by the fire pit, inviting both to join her.

>"Eltas, your people have done a great misdeed to this man and his family. As you know, your laws state that the victim of the crimes shall decide the punishment. If they are too young, their guardian will act for them."

>"Fine, the criminal will come with me as a diplomat so she can see the kind of races we deal with constantly. All the beauty and horrors the world can provide will be shown to as it was shown to us. Pray she remains sane."

A look that could best be described as "WTF.png" crosses Eltas's face, and William gets up.

>"Now as for who that criminal is..."

The Oracle gets a sudden look of fear on her wrinkled up face, and the Amazon goes for her sword. She is stopped by a death glare from William.

>"Nevermind, you are to bring her to me before sundown. If you do not...Well, I've been waiting to hack a body apart since I got here."

He then storms out and makes for the ship. Before the sun sets, the criminal is brought aboard. She is locked away deep in the bowels of the ship, on constant guard by a rotating watch, She's not getting out of there.

Also, we hit the bump limit for the first time ever. Would you guys like to start a new thread?

Hell yeah man.

>>41317435
we're only on page 3, we have a lot of time before we need to jump ship. but at the same time I need to pass out.
>>
>>41317435
if you can handle it sure, start with the Amazon/deep one interaction.
make sure the queen is there.
>>
>>41317466
We could call it now if you guys want.

Put it to a vote.

We've gotten far. I doubt the queen's going to make an alliance or trade deal with William at least so there's nothing more to do on that front. This is probably a good place to leave off before someone starts something that we need to pick up on a week from now.
>>
>>41317488
id like this to at least end this with the queens reaction to the fish people.
doesn't matter if you make this longer or not.
>>
>>41317517
look's like were in a disagreement here pal.
best to settle this with a good old fashioned Texas draw.
>>

I'm ready for bed. We should call it a night.

Deep in the ship's brig, the guard waits. She hears a light tapping sound on the outside, and gets up to investigate. Considering how hard it was to see, she simply stumbled around until she found a wall and hugged it tight. Then she noticed a small hole, blocked by a transparent glass-like material, in the wall. She got up and had a gander at it, and was horrified to see the slimy face of a Deep One staring right at her. Her screams echoed all throughout the ship, waking everyone aboard. It continued tapping, and she saw it writing crude letters on the glass in a thick, goopey liquid.

>"HI"

With that, she passed out, though the tapping would persist into her dreams for the rest of that night.
